It's a new era of Ole Miss football as Pete Golding enters his first full season as Rebels head coach. Trinidad Chambliss, Kawan Lacy. The Heisman campaign is officially on as the Ole Miss Rebels look to get back to the College Football Playoff just one game away from the national championship game a season ago. Can they do it again? Well, let's discuss. Here's what our friends over at KI have to say about the Ole Miss Rebels. First and foremost, 82% chance for Gold Miss to win five or more games, 80% to win six or more, 80% to win seven or more, 60 to win eight or more, 43 to win nine or more, 38 to win 10 or more, 16 chance to win 11 or more, and 7% chance to win 12 games. So per our friends at Calshe, which they're pretty high on Ole Miss, but the over under the numbers kind of break right at that eight and nine mark. So about eight and a half is the question. Will they win eight? Will they win nine? Will they win? Morgan 60 chance to win eight or more games, 43, chance to win nine or more. Right on the cusp of being a college football playoff team. And on that note, Couch, she gives Ole Miss a 38 chance to make the College Football Playoff this season. Again, Ole Miss trying to run it back. A lot of change, a lot of new, but certainly a lot of familiarity as well, with one of the best tandems in all of college football leading the way in Trinidad Chambliss and Quan Lacy and so many other pieces as well. So on that note, we pull up the Ole Miss schedule and we start my game by game predictions officially locking them in for the 2026 Ole Miss football season. Week number one, right here in my city, Nashville, Tennessee. The Sunday of opening weekend, Ole Miss takes on the Louisville Cardinals of the acc. And I tell you guys, this is a really interesting way to come out of the gate because listen, a lot of people won't like to hear it. This is a losable football game. Like, you know, everybody wants to talk about week three and what's up coming in week three. You better pay attention to week one. And I think most Ole Miss fans, I think pretty much all Ole Miss fans understand that. But it's like more than national media side where like you look at the week one slate and you're like, hey, this is, this is an upset alert game. There's no question. Again, brand new head coach. I know Pete Golding was obviously there in the playoff, led the great playoff run but first full season, right? A lot of new pieces, a lot of new contributors. You're depending on it. Wide receiver, offensive line, some on the defense as well. So there's a lot to get acclimated here and a lot of, a lot of the kinks to work out early. And Louisville has been a giant slayer. We saw them last year beat a Miami. Sleep on Jeff Brahm at your own risk. That being said, I do think Ole Miss has enough here in Nashville to get the win at Nissan Stadium. I think Ole Miss starts the season one and oh, don't be surprised if this one is too close for comfort if you're an Ole Miss fan. But I think Trinidad, Chambliss, Kawan, Lacy there and this entire football team, they are going to want to make a statement coming out of the gate and I think they will do so. Starting the season off on a high note one and oh, then you come home. Your home opener against Charlotte. Ho hum. I think this will be business as usual. I think Ole Miss will take care of business, no problem. I think this game is going to be solely about just getting ready for what is to come in week number three, so name your score kind of game. You're going to see a lot of faces in this one. This is a empty the bench type of contest where everybody should feel good because they got to play in this game. But it'll be a big win, pad your stats type of contest. Ole Miss starts out two and oh, then week three happens. Lane Kiffin coming back to Oxford, the LSU Tigers at Vaught Hemingway Stadium. Guys, this, this is going to be unlike anything we ever seen, which by the way, we are going to be on hand in attendance for this ball game, but this is going to be unlike anything we were witnessed. This is so much more than just a football game. You talk about an emotionally supercharged game. Right? We talked about it. People are already previewing this game. It happens in week three. But you just can't help to look ahead because of the storyline, because of everything that's on the line in this game. By the way, outside of the lane kib and stuff, guys, we have two teams that are College Football Playoff hopefuls and depending on who you ask, there's going to be a team out of this game that goes to the College Football Playoff. Now this isn't an eliminator by any means, but certainly a tone setter, certainly a table setter and we've talked about it a lot this off season. Who would have lost in this football game be more detrimental To LSU or Ole Miss? I guess it depends on what side of that argument you're on. I think it's a fascinating conversation. I think there's a case to be made for both. That being said, LSU comes in tons of talent. Nobody's denying that. I think Ole Miss wins this football game. I think if Ole Miss wins one game all season, it's going to be this one. I simply do not think Ole Miss is going to allow Lane Kiffin and company to come into their backyard and take what's theirs. I think Trinidad, Chambliss, Kawan Lacey have career games in this one. I think it's obviously a very spirited contest, very back and forth. But I think Pete Golding and the Ole Miss Rebels, I think they get the better of their former head coach. Going to be an incredible night in Oxford Vaught. Hemingway is going to be unhinged beyond anything we have ever seen. They may only seat 60,000 in that place, but it's going to feel like 160,000 on that night. And I think that combined with a great effort by your quarterback and your running back. Great game plan by Pete Golding. Defensively, I think Ole Miss gets the win and moves to 3 and 0 early in the season. Then you travel to Florida. Hey, listen, you beat lsu. Congratulations. Now you got to go to the Swamp. That's your reward for that. This is an upset alert game for Ole Miss. This is a trap game for the Rebels in the Swamp. Good chance. It's a night game. I think Ole Miss is able to survive it, though. I don't think Florida that early in the season is there quite yet. And I think Ole Miss gets the win. I think they will use that LSU game. It won't be one of those things where it's like, that's what the season's about for us. I think this core nucleus, man, after going after being a game away from the national title a season ago, as big as that LSU game is and as big as beating Lane, given this, it's not just about that. It's about getting back to where you were last year. I think they understand the bigger picture here. I think they take Florida seriously. Obviously, tough game in the Swamp. Really tough game. But I think Ole Miss escapes. They survive it. They get the win and they start the season 4 0. Then you got a bye week. Then you travel to Vanderbilt. What is Vanderbilt football? Post Diego Papia. I think it's still pretty good. And this is another one where don't think you can just roll your helmet out there. And win. Clark Lee's got this program humming. But I do think Vandy takes a step back this year. And I think Ole Miss is in a different place as a program. I think the Rebs get the win here. I think the good times continue to roll in Oxford. Five and O start for the Ole Miss Rebels. Then you take on Mizzou at home. Guys, I have not made any friends in Como with my predictions about Mizzou football. If you have seen them, you know what I'm talking about. I think they're another one. Listen, this is a highly competitive league with a lot of good teams. But here's the problem. Not Everybody can go 8 and 4. Not everybody can go 9 and 3. I think Mizzou is that team this year where the losses are going to pile up. And I think Ole Miss will take advantage of that. By the way, interesting game here because it'll be Ole Miss welcoming in Austin Simmons. Guys, if there's anybody who's not who knows how to stop Austin Simmons, it's the guy that game plan against him every single day in practice and knows all of his tendencies, that being Pete Golding. So I think it is a rude homecoming of sorts for Austin Simmons. I think Ole Miss gets the win, guys. I think they improve to 6 and oh on the season. So things are looking rosy. The picture's looking rosy. Ole Miss than your biggest test. Today, October 24, Ole Miss travels to Austin to take on the Texas Longhorns. This is a winnable football game, by the way. I, I think Texas is going to be very good, guys. Admittedly I have Texas in the SEC title game, but this is a getable game. But I don't think you get it. I, I think this is your first loss. I think this is where your first blemish of the season occurs. I think Texas beats you, you fall to six and one on the season. Really fun back and forth, highly competitive ball game. I just think Texas and Austin is too much. The, the showdown between Arch Manning and Trinidad Chambers is going to be pure cinema. But I do think it's Arch and company outlasting and I think Will must champion that defense. They do enough to slow you down offensively to handle your first loss. So you get punched in the face here, you fall to six and one. All good though. Then you take on Auburn. Halloween early kick in Oxford, ho hum. No big deal, right? Year one Alex Golish, G6 offense. What is Byron Brown? What are they really? I'm not going to make any friends with this one, but guys it's the sec. Expect the unexpected. Weird things can happen. And I think Auburn is good enough. DJ Durkin defensively defensive coordinator good enough where when it all comes together one Saturday, the unthinkable can happen. And I think the unthinkable happens here. I think Auburn takes down Ole Miss in Oxford. Huge upset in the SEC picture. Maybe a little bit of hangover for old Miss coming off the Texas game, maybe overlooking the opponent a little bit. I think it happens. I think Auburn beats Ole Miss, pulls a massive upset. So back to back losses for Ole Miss after starting out 60 from 60 to now 6 and 2 at the conclusion of the month of October, but still everything in front of you, College Football Playoff picture everything. You can still make the playoff. And guys, here's the thing. A 10 win SEC team's in a 9 and 3 SEC team. I actually think this is the year a 9 and 3 SEC team makes the College Football Playoff. You open up the month of November, the Georgia Bulldogs come to town. I think it's back to back home losses. Guys, I'm really high on this Georgia team. I think they're an 11 win regular season team. I think they win the SEC. I think this is one of Kirby Smart's best teams he's had in Athens, which is saying a lot. I think Gunner Stockton is a dark horse Heisman contender and I think that defense is one of the best they've had since they won it all. I know this is going to be a really, really sexy upset pick that people are going to pick because of what happened in the Sugar Bowl. Kirby Smart and Georgia are going to get their lick back against Ole Miss. I, I just, I don't see it happening. I think this is a revenge game for Kirby and the boys. I think they take down Ole Miss. I think Ole Miss drops their third straight to fall to six and three. And all of a sudden you're looking around, something's got to give. Can Pete Golding get us out of this rut? Three straight losses after we started six zero. Well, there's no relief. You go on the road to Oklahoma middle of November. I mean, what gives? Are you really going to lose four in a row? I say no. I say no. I think in a game that I see as pivotal for the College Football Playoff race, I think it is Ole Miss getting the better of Oklahoma, finally bouncing back three straight bitter losses with an what feels like inexcusable upset in the middle. I think beating Oklahoma, you get your season back on track. You get to 73 score a massive road win and there was an exhale amongst Ole Miss fans. Okay, the ship is not sinking and you're one of Pete Golding. The following week you get Wofford at home. Ho hum. Great chance to lick your wounds because again you'll have played consecutively from October 10th to this point. So it'll be a great opportunity for a lot of your starters to take it easy, your team to get healthy, feel good about yourself and get a feel good win before you close out the season. And by the way, you improved to 8 and 3 after beating Wofford. You close out the season. Mississippi State in the Egg bowl at Vaught Hemingway. Boy, this is one Camario Taylor, Fluff Bothwell, Anthony Evans, Zach Garnett back in the fold defensively. Okay, don't sleep on Mississippi State now. Don't sleep on them Mississippi State. And this is a rivalry game too. Anything can happen. Look at last year, it was close to half, it was a close game to have. And Ole Miss fans know as well as anybody Camario Taylor, he can make things happen. But I don't think it happens for Mississippi State this year. I think Ole Miss too much on the line in this one, Way too much at stake. Trinidad, Chambliss, Kawan Lacy, that football team get the W finish the season at 9 and 3, 6 and 3 and SEC play. And guys, here is the kicker. Before Ole Miss fans lose their marbles at me, here's the kicker, 9 and 3, 6 and 3 in SEC play. I think this is good enough. Where Ole Miss is that fourth and final team from the SEC that makes the College Football Playoff. I have four SEC teams in the playoff. I think the Ole Miss Oklahoma game late in the season is going to be one that shapes the College Football Playoff picture to where I think the winner of that game is in. And I think it's Hottie Toddy. I think the Rebels do make the playoff in year one of Pete Golding. We'll see what happens beyond that. But I think it's back to back college football playoffs for Ole Miss and I think a successful year one for Pete Golding and a successful year for Trinidad Chambers, Kabwon Lacy in their return to Oxford. So nine and three, six and three in conference play. Listen, I know the Auburn pick's not going to be popular. I totally understand it. If you want to interchange that for the game at Florida, you want to interchange that for the LSU game. I do think there's three losses on this schedule. You got to think outside the box. A little bit and get a little crazy when you're making predictions because it's SEC football, guys, expect the unexpected. It's college football. But I think this is a 9 and 3 team, 6 and 3 in the conference and I do think this is a team that will make the college football playoffs. So guys, I'd love to hear from you. Do you agree with me?
