The 2026 season just around the corner on the 40 acres. And not only is it college Football playoff or bust for the Longhorns, it feels almost like national title or bust. After the major investment made over the off season, nothing will satisfy the appetite of Texas fans other than hoisting that trophy at season. Den, I'm here locking my game by game predictions for Texas for the 2026 season. Guys, before we get there really quickly, let's talk about what our friends over at Kalshee think about Texas heading into the season. When it comes to regular seasons, wins and percentage chances, Couchee gives Texas a 92% chance to win seven or more games, 81 to win eight or more, 68 to win nine or more, 46 to win 10 or more, 23% to win 11 or more and 15 to win 12 games. So obviously Koshi thinks really high of Texas going into the season. I mean the real big break in the numbers here is nine and a half or excuse me, nine plus or ten plus. That number kind of sitting right at nine and a half if you read between the lines here, 68% chance to win nine or more, 46% chance to win ten or more. And I tell you if the number was nine and a half, not to play spoiler, but I feel pretty good about that number and going on the over. Also guys, Texas has one of the highest percentage chances of anyone in college football to make the College Football Playoff. Via our friends at Kalshee, Koshy gives Texas a 64 chance to be in the playoff. The only teams higher than that mark, Indiana, Georgia, Miami, Ohio State, Oregon and Notre Dame. So better than a 50% shot. Kalshee fully expecting Texas to be one of those 12 teams that make the playoff when the regular season concludes. Guys, with that being said, let's pull up the Texas schedule and get into my game by game predictions as we start. In week number one, the Texas Longhorns will host the Texas State Bobcats. This is a win out of the gate. Texas will move to 1 and 0. Ho hum. Not a whole lot to say about it. Guys, really what you'll look forward to in week one. And as everybody does around college football, seeing all these new pieces come together right, Seeing Cam Coleman in a Texas uniform for the first time, Hollywood smothers, Relik, Brown, all these other pieces you had it will Muschamp on the sideline. This is your opportunity though, with you know what's coming. Week two, dust off any cobwebs, iron out any kinks, hit the Ground running. And I do think it's pivotal. Listen, the way this game looks, I think it matters who recalls. I know y' all do. Who recalls Texas last year against non conference competition early in the season, right? And we tried to brush it off. Some of us did. Oh, no big deal. They're just taking their competition lightly. I mean guys, you were getting bullied by G6 opponents up front. It really told us early. If you paid attention, they got some real issues on offensive line. Arch Manning's having some real struggles. The offense as a whole is struggling. This isn't just some one game sample size or 1/4 or 1/2. This is a problem. So building up as much confidence as possible, hitting the ground running, getting off to a fast start, I do think is important. And I think Texas will do that. I think they know coming off last year, hey man, we got to get off to a better start. I think the offense will shine. I think it'll be a big, big day for Texas offensively and as a whole. I think Texas wins. They win big. They start the season at one and oh, then week two. Not just the game of the week, not just the game of the month. This might be the game of the college football season when Texas hosts Ohio State in Austin. College game day will be on hand. It is a night game. 6:30 local time. Kickoff place is going to be a madhouse. I was actually at this game in Columbus a season ago, right? First game for Garch Manning and I picked Ohio State. I mean I, I felt like going into an environment like that against a Matt Patricia led defense. It was going to be really, really tough for Texas to pull out the win. Give them credit. Close game, but the offense was stagnant. The offense was non existent. Arch Manning was seeing ghosts. Offensive line got bullied. It was a bad day for Longhorn fans. You all might recall Ohio State one of the favorites to win the national title as they should be the favorite in the Big Ten to win that conference. I think Texas gets their lick back though. I think Texas in the rematch in Austin. Home atmosphere plays a difference here. But I think Texas is also guys just a much better football team. I think Arch Manning, I think that was one of the best things that could have happened to him last year. Not just the Ohio State game, but some of the struggles obviously and the trials and tribulations he went through, I think he's a much better player for that. And here's the kicker. Ohio State lost a lot on defense. I mean they lost a lot of valuable production I totally get it. Right? I totally get it. They reload, they don't rebuild. I understand. And I do think Ohio State's going to be one of the best teams in the country. I do think Ohio State's going to be in the College Football Playoff, but I do think Texas is for real. I. I think these pieces will come together early. I think Will must champ on defense was a massive pickup. I think he will dial it up and make life hell for Julian, saying my one bold prediction. That's not bold. It will be a higher scoring game than last year. I, I think that is a safe bet. But I think it's Texas that pulls it out in front of the home crowd. I think they get their lick back for last year, get their revenge, puts the SEC badge on their back, if you will, because this one will be big for SEC versus Big Ten. But Texas more importantly for themselves and gets the win, massive W and starts out two and oh, week three, you get utsa. This will just be an opportunity, guys. Obviously lick your wounds, rest your starters, do what you got to do to get ready for the SEC grind. Texas wins, Texas wins big. Not really a need to spend a ton of time on this football game. So you sit at three and oh through three weeks, then you travel to Tennessee. It's a tough football game. The best thing going for you in this one, it is a noon local time kick, so you're not getting Neyland Stadium at night. And I will tell all Texas fans watching this, if you've never been a Knoxville, you've never been a Neyland. I cannot suggest it enough. It will be an incredible atmosphere, incredible game. They're checkering Neyland on this day. If you've never experienced that, I mean, it is, it is worth the trip, let me assure you. Interesting game here though, right? I think Tennessee's an underrated team going into kickoff. I think they could be a college, a surprise College Football playoff contender. I am going to go Texas here, though. I think Texas will just be too much for Tennessee in this football game. Young quarterback. I know we're in the fourth week at this point, but still, I think it's going to be Faison Brandon for them. And even if it's him or George McIntyre, young, inexperienced quarterback going up against that defense, I think Will Muschamp will have a great game plan. I think Colin Simmons makes his presence felt in this game most certainly. And I think a defense under Jim Knowles for Tennessee that's still trying to get acclimated to the system. I do think Texas, even though it's a road game, tough game, tough atmosphere, the battle of the UTs here, I do think Texas will get the win. I think they will be focused on the task at hand. They move to four and oh, early in the the season still. Then we go into the month of October, bye week on October 3rd. Great opportunity to gear up yet again and get ready for the stretch that awaits you. Then you get Oklahoma in Dallas, the Red River Shootout. Guys, I was fortunate enough to experience this last year. I actually sat in the Texas section or the Texas side, funny enough. And God, what an experience it was. I mean, this game is unlike anything I've ever experienced as a college football fan. I, I see why now and I think you can make the argument it is the best rivalry in all of college football. The lesson I learned last year though was this, expect the unexpected. Like when people say for rivalry games, you know, throw the records out the window, I think sometimes we can over exaggerate that a little bit. This game really feels that way. It really does. Because, you know, last year, I mean, I remember thinking to myself, how in the world is Texas favored? With the way they've looked at this point, how is Texas favored? Well, the rest is history, right? Y' all know as well as anyone this rivalry and the unpredictability and we use the phrase every week is a season that's very coach speak. But for this game, I think it applies, right? And I know what Texas fans will say. Oklahoma hasn't scored a touchdown against Texas in blank. Well, guys, I think that means they're due because I got Oklahoma beating you. I think Texas drops the Red River Shootout. I do think it is OU getting revenge for last year. I think Texas will get a healthy John Matier, an Oklahoma offense that is much, much better than it was a season ago. And I think in Oklahoma defense, and I think you could argue they're the best in the sec. I think it's an Oklahoma defense that can do enough to slow down, if not stop Arch Manning, that run game, get after Arch Manning and make some big plays on the defensive side of the football. So again, this rivalry, this is probably the most unpredictable game on Texas's schedule because who the hell knows? Who the hell knows truly. But I'm going to say Oklahoma, after a couple tough years, gets their lick back here, gets their revenge. They do cross the end zone. They do score a touchdown. I think they in that streak and I think Oklahoma gets the win. You drop your first ball game of the season. Falling to 4 and 1. So disappointing loss at arrival, but everything is still in front of you. The following week, you take on the Florida Gators in Austin, Texas. Guys, after what happened a season ago, Florida ain't sneaking up on Texas. And I'm high on Florida and year one of John Sumrall, I think they're going to be. I'm, I've been trying to talk myself out of Florida for weeks because I feel like I'm hyping them up too much. That said, after what happened last year, Texas is going to make a statement against Florida. I think Texas do they win it in convincing fashion? We'll see. Again, I think Florida is a good team, but Florida is going to have Texas's full undivided attention. I have no question about that. I think Texas gets their revenge. They beat the Gators, they move to five and one on the season. Ole Miss at home. Home Slate's great in Austin this year, by the way. Ole Miss at home. Ole Miss is a team that's really interesting to me. Admittedly, I have them in the College Football Playoff. They are my final team of four in the College Football Playoff. But as we get closer to the season, I become more and more and more nervous about that pick. I'm being totally honest. That said, they still got Trinidad Chambliss and they still got Kawan Lacey. Now, who do they have catching the football? We're going to figure that out. Can all these new pieces come together defensively? We're gonna have to figure that out. That said, I do think Texas wins this football game on their home field. I do. This is a game I think we could see again. Maybe we could see in Atlanta. Maybe we could see it in the College Football Playoff. I think Texas gets the win here again. Good chance. It's a night game at dkr. I think that makes a difference here. I think the crowd and the atmosphere will play a factor. But I think at this point, too, I think Texas, I think your offense is clicking. Clicking? I mean, I, I, I think Arch Manning building off what he did to close out the season last year, I, I think he's going to be a guy probably right there in the Heisman Trophy race or at least the conversation. Does he go to New York? Who knows? But I think he has a much better year than last year. So I think by this point, the season, what we're pretty much at the halfway point, if not just past it now, you know, I, I think that Arch Manning and the offense are clicking. Trinidad Chambers. Come on, Lacey. Fantastic players. I think Texas defensively can do just enough at home to slow him down. Give me Texas in this football game to win this football game and move to 6 and 1, beating Ole Miss, Mississippi State at home. How about another night game at dkr? How about it? Another night game at dkr. You said it. Six and one. Mississippi State comes to town. It's a game you almost lost last year. I might remind you that ain't gonna happen again. And I think Mississippi State, if this game was in Startville again, maybe I could go as as far as to say if this game was in start full again, I could go as far as it's like, this is a trap game. This is an upset alert game because I like Camario Taylor, I like Fluff Bothwell, I like Anthony Evans, Zach Garnett on the defensive coordinator side, I like what I think he will do. But you're just so much more talented than Mississippi State. Like there's no excuse to lose this football game at home. So give me Texas. I'll call it. I think Texas wins this game big. I think after last year, again, undivided attention on the dogs. I think Texas wins. I think Texas wins big. And I think they are clicking at this point in the season. I've got them moving to 7 and 1. Then you go to Mizzou. Guys, I'm selling Mizzou stock. I don't think Mizzou is going to be a great football team this year. I got a lot of questions about them. And again in Como, you know, you get the early kick. Is it somewhat of a trap game maybe? I. I just think you're so much more talented than Missouri. Give me the Texas Longhorns to win this football game. You then move to 8 and 1 with three games remaining. The following week you go to LSU. I'm not buying the LSU hype like some folks are. Guys. I'm just not. I'm just not, you know, year one of a new head coach. A lot of pieces got to come together. Very talented now, very talented. Who. It makes him dangerous. But I don't think LSU is in the College Football Playoff this year. Certainly it's not natty or bus like some crazy folks out there want to insinuate. That being said, Death Valley at night again, this is another one. Texas fans, if you have not been lsu, I highly encourage you to get down to Baton Rouge because this will be an incredible trip. This is actually going to be the game that I will be at this season for the LSU Tigers. So would love to see y' all there. Do I think Texas is a better football team than lsu? Yes, I do. Do I think they're more talented? Yes, I do. But again, I think LSU's got enough talent to get somebody. And Death Valley at night, it is a really tough place to play. And I think the bayou comes unhinged on this night because I do think LSU clips you in an upset. I think LSU beats Texas. One of the most entertaining games of the year. I do. I think it's a great back and forth game. I think Lane Kiffin pulls out of the stops. I think LSU pulls a massive upset. You drop your second game of the season. So some pressure going in the final two because no guarantees in nine and three. Texas. I mean, let's not go through what happened again last year, right? You start, you drop your second game of the season. I, I think you are sitting at 8 and 2 with two games remaining. Arkansas at home. I, I won't even spend a ton of time on this. I, I think after losing at lsu, you come home and you throttle Arkansas. Is Arkansas better than people expect this? I don't know, maybe. But it ain't gonna much matter in this football game. You move to nine and two, easy win as you get ready for the. The Lone Star showdown. Going back to College Station at 9 and 2. You know what I think is awesome about this game? I think both of these teams will have playoff hoax on the line because I just now realized I have both A and M and Texas at 9 and 2 going in the final weekend of the season. So I mean Kyle Field will be frenzied. There will be, you'll be able to cut the tension with a knife this weekend. The last two seasons I have picked the Aggies to win this football game. Last two seasons, I ain't falling in that trap again. I think Texas, not only do I think they are a better football team than A N this year, much more talented. I mean, I think A M's still a good team, playoff contender. But I think they take a slight step back this year. I think they're right on the verge knocking on the door of the playoff, but do take a slight step back. But Texas also, man, whether the game is played in College Station, in Austin and Dallas and in Lubbock, in Fort Worth and Arlington, Texas has such a mental advantage over the Aggies right now. Like I, we talked about this going in the game last year that no matter what the records are, no matter, none of it, none of the stuff on the field, there's this big brother, little brother feeling with these two programs right now and Texas is the big brother no matter what the records are. It just I have been fooled. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. I have picked A and M the last two years to beat Texas. You ain't gonna fool me a third time. Give me the Texas Longhorns to win this football game. I think it's Arch Manning going back to a place where he had a pretty good debut in this rivalry two seasons ago. I think he has a big game. I think Texas defensively is able to get after Marcel Reeds similar to what they did last year and I think Texas puts their final stamp on it. 10 and 2, 7 and 2 in SEC play, punching a ticket by the way to the SEC Championship game where I think they will take on the Georgia Bulldogs. I do think it's Georgia Texas in Atlanta, but 10272 I think you're in the College Football Playoff. You know, I think some will look at this schedule prediction. See the Oklahoma loss, see the LSU loss. I get it man. Those are two games you don't want to lose. Do I think Texas could go 11 1? I absolutely do. Do I think they could go 12 0? No, because I don't think anybody's going 120 this year. I, I, I just think it's too difficult to navigate a non game conference schedule plus Ohio State and go unscathed. I, I think that's asking too much. But if you told me 11 and one you want to split hairs, I don't think that's that crazy. But I'm going 10 and 2, 7 and 2 in SEC play. I, I do think the Horns are for real. I think Arch Manning continues what he did end of season, end of this year. I think the run game will be much better. I think the defense will be elite and all in all again I think that that that results in an appearance in the SEC title game and the College Football Playoff. So guys, love to hear your thoughts.
