I am Chris Phillips. This is the Chris Phillips show here at SEC unfiltered. It's Tuesday, July 14, 2026. Welcome in. Hope you're having a fantastic day and a great start to your week as we continue to count down the days of the college football season. Just a week from now, Tampa, Florida will be the site of SEC football media days. Guys, you're going to blink and it's going to be fall camp. You're going to blink again and we're going to be at week one talking all the great matchups and looking forward to all of the action getting underway. It's a really exciting time of year. I would argue the college football season has already started for us as we are deep diving and we have been deep diving into team previews and I'll start to give my game by game predictions actually starting next week. I am sitting down today right after this going through all of the schedules. We'll have our predicted order of finish locked in on tomorrow's show on chewing clock as we preview SEC Media Days, top storylines the attendees and give our predicted order to finish that we would submit on our ballots at SEC Media Days. So it is. We are off and running. We're off and running. This is one of the most fun times a year. Like I've told you guys many times, I am a huge baseball guy, love baseball, played baseball. But there is nothing like college football. Talking about college football, talking season if you will and certainly a Saturday in the fall in the SEC guys, there is just simply nothing like it. So again I appreciate each and every single one of you tuning in. Guys, really quickly. One quick housekeeping item before we get rolling and this is a big one and I will have more on this as we get in the coming weeks if you will. I'll have more on this in the coming weeks but met with our friends over at Outlaw Light Beer yesterday in regards to the SEC Unfiltered Tour. What that was going to look like Obviously again guys, tis the season. It's time to put the finishing touches on plans that you have for the season. The SEC Unfiltered Tour is going to look a little bit different than even I expected. Originally the idea was a tailgate tour. Now we are going to incorporate much more live on location events. Think about college bars, your favorite bars, your favorite venues, whatever. It might be probably leaning more so towards that versus the tailgating aspect because because of some of the liability stuff. You throw a big tailgate, you have a lot of free alcohol. I think you guys can do the math. So with that being said, we have not announced any dates or any games or anything like that. We will be doing that, I would say, within the next week or so. That is my plan. I want to get this out obviously before August 1st because we're going to drop and release all of these dates at once, which I'll be really excited to do and there's going to be some great venues. But admittedly guys, when you're talking about what cities you want to go to for the best tailgates versus what cities you want to go to for the best bar scene, it's a little bit of a different conversation, as y' all could guess. So just stay tuned. Again, we released nothing at this point, so we're not changing anything necessarily, but we'll give you guys the full details, the full rundown really, really soon. I. I think it's actually, I could argue, going to be even more fun than what we were doing because as great as throwing a tailgate is, it is really fun to gather together at a bar at a venue. We can do live on location shows. We'll have tons of free products, swag giveaways. We'll get to watch all of the games there on location as well. It is going to be a great time. So again, just stay tuned for that. We should have that announcement out for you in the next week or so and I'll be excited to do it. But yeah, certainly something yesterday. Glad we met yesterday because we figured some things out, tied up some loose ends and it's going to be an awesome football season. Different than any we've done under SEC Unfiltered. I cannot wait to get it underway. Want to get in your comments really quickly. Our guy, Nice Wills, he's the first one in. Welcome in Nice. Will says based on numbers since 2023, Oxford is the most difficult place to win for visiting teams. Nice, Wills. I'm glad you brought that up because that's a great segue into what we are going to get into here and how we're going to start the show. Which is my toughest places to play in the sec. My rankings have officially dropped, so let's go ahead and dive into that. Guys, these are my toughest places to play in the sec. My rankings of the toughest venues in the southeastern conference from 16 all the way to number one. And by the way, I'd like to add, I've never felt more confident about this list than I do this year. Well, Chris, why is that? You may be asking because this is the first time, guys, over the last two seasons I have spent 414 straight weekends going to a different college football game at a different venue. I am proud to say that I have been to 15 of these 16 venues in person and have experienced a game at 15 of these 16. The only one I have not been to Lexington, Kentucky, Kroger Field, have not gotten a chance to get out there. Some of it has to do with the on field play if you will. No shot at Kentucky fans. But hopefully very soon we're going to make our way to Kroger Field. But again, I feel as qualified as any to make this list. Not saying my opinion is above anyone else's, but this is based off my experience. And let me also start disclaimer before we get into it by saying this. Toughest places to play is not just about win loss record. I know that might blow some people's minds, but in that case, if you have the best team, then it's the toughest place to play. For example, if think about some of those early Alabama teams or Georgia or Ohio State or Texas or whatever it is guys, they could take you out in the parking lot and make that the toughest place to play because it is the toughest matchup. No, for me, toughest place to play is when you walk into a building. There's an intimidation factor, there's almost a fear that sets in. Like you look at it as the 12th man, obviously alluding to Kyle Field, but that could apply to anyone. You look at that as like another factor in the ball game. Atmosphere matters. Atmosphere is literally what creates the most difficult places to play in college football. It's not just the win loss record. I want to make that very clear before we get into this list. So without further ado guys, let's go ahead and get into it. So these are my toughest places to play in the SEC rankings heading in the 2026 college football season and we will start at the bottom of the list at number 16. Guys, I've really appreciated the spunk and the fire from some of my Vanderbilt friends who I think obviously Diego Papi has got people really excited about Vandy football, what he did over the last two years. But at 16 I've got First Bank Stadium at Vanderbilt in Nashville. Guys listen, the reason Vanderbilt won all those football games in the last two years and I've had great experience with my experiences with my friends out at Lot 2 and in First bank was at the game last year when Vanderbilt beat LSU at home. That was an awesome Environment. Awesome day, but let's call a spade a spade, right? Number one, size matters. Giggity size matters. It matters in the sec. It matters when it comes to stadiums. It matters when it comes to atmosphere and environment and toughest places to play. The other part is this. I would say this to all Vandy fans. You cannot claim First Bank Stadium is a tough place to play or one of the tougher places in the SEC to play, or that it even deserves to not be in the number 16 spot until you can fill your stadium to the brim with nothing but black and gold and with bandy fans or at minimum, just not letting the visiting teams take over one half of your stadium completely. I. I think highly of Clark Lee. I think highly of Vanderbilt football. I love all my Vandy buddies. First Bank Stadium at Vanderbilt is deserving of being at number 16. Maybe this can improve and evolve as Clark Lee continues to build that program. But I don't think there's much discussion. I don't think there's much debate. First Bank Stadium is at number 16. At number 15, I've got Kroger Field of Kentucky. Guys, listen, again, this is the one venue that I have not been to, so maybe it's a little bit of an unfair ranking. Maybe I should have left them off, if you will. But not many necessarily fear going to Kroger Field. I know this is an environment that can get rowdy at night. For sure. We've seen it over the years. Kentucky has come alive, especially when Mark Stoops really had that thing rolling and they got to get that home atmosphere back to being what it was. But there's a lot of fantastic venues in the Southeastern Conference. Don't take it personally, Kentucky fans. Kroger Field. If you were in the ACC k Kroger Field's middle of the pack. The problem is you're not. You're in the sec, where the best venues in college football reside. And it's just really tough to vouch that this one deserves to be much higher than this. Number 14. I've got DWR Razorback Stadium at Arkansas. Now, I know this is about to become something different, but I did use DWR because that's how I know it. Last time I was at Arkansas was 2024, actually, when the Hogs beat Tennessee. So I got to see it at its very best. And again, what it lacks in in size, you have a passionate fan base that creates a really fun, intimidating atmosphere. The Woo Pig Sui calling the Hogs, if you will, is one of the best traditions in all of college football. I will say that admittedly the on field product, and I think just the lack of hope and optimism kills this environment somewhat. You know, this environment's not able to live up to its fullest extent of its potential because even when I was there in 2024, guys, you had fans saying, here we go again. Woe is me. It's, it's, it's a very. It's a fan base that has been beaten to a pulp, if you will, and it feels like it's had most of the optimism and excitement beaten out of them. So I think if Ryan Silverfield can get that program to a place where they're excited about Hogs football again and, and feel confident and optimistic of what's to come, I think you'll see the environment improve. But for now, I've got them at number 14 on this list and number 13. Guys, I've got Davis Wade Stadium at Mississippi State. My first time ever experiencing this stadium was last year for the Egg Bowl. Listen, the Cowboy. The cowbells, excuse me, are annoying. The cowbells are obnoxious. I'm not saying they're not, and I'm not saying that that doesn't make it a difficult place to play. And sometimes weird things happen at Davis Wade Stadium. But I will admit to you guys, when I was there for the Ole Miss game, when I was there for the Egg bowl against the biggest game of your season because you've had a bad year and it's a rivalry game, I did not think it was that loud. It was. It was very average loud. And I'm not saying probably can get louder than that, but there were moments in that game, right? There were pockets of excitement. But I didn't leave that day saying, man, this is. I wasn't necessarily blown away as, as this is one of the most raucous, one of the craziest, one of the most difficult places to play in all of college football. Maybe I didn't have the right experience, but I feel like when you're playing your arch rival, when you're playing Lane Kiffin, that should be the best of the best that an environment has to offer. And I don't know that I necessarily got that. Again, the cowbells give a very unique dynamic to what makes it difficult to play at Davis Wade Stadium. But I. I don't know. I. I did not walk away from there feeling like it was. It did not live up, admittedly, to the expectations that I had for it, if I'm being totally honest. So I've got it 13 on this list. At number 12, I've got DKR Texas Memorial Stadium at Texas. And guys, I love my Texas folks. I love my Texas brethren. The game day atmosphere and the atmosphere inside this stadium is lacking severely. Now. I have never been for a massive game. That very well may change this season. We have been in talks potentially going to do Ohio State game. I have been there the last two seasons, 2024 when Texas played Kentucky and last year when Texas played Arkansas. I understand I have not been there with when they played Georgia under the lights or you know, played A and M under the lights last year. I have not been for a big game like that. But I was blown away and not in a great way last year when I went to Austin. And I understand Texas is just coming off of losing to Georgia. I totally get it guys. But the following week in the game I went to was Arkansas and you would have thought Texas was playing Arkansas State. I mean, not to say the stadium wasn't packed now but. And I think I've had Texas fans admit this to me, but it's a very wine and cheese crowd. The, the atmosphere inside the stadium. I think there's a lot of area of opportunity for Texas to do some different things. There's just, there's not a whole lot of dynamic, not a whole lot of juice in the stadium. And I get it. You got the hangover from losing to Georgia and you feel like all your hopes and dreams are crushed. Boohoo. We're not going to the playoff. But one of the things that makes a place the toughest place to play is like you can count on it every Saturday when you go within reason that it's going to be a mad house. And Arkansas lost that football game, but it wasn't because of the crowd guys. It was because they were outmanned. So I, I just, maybe I have not gotten the best experience. But Texas fans and dkr, to me it is a very laid back, wine and cheese type of environment. And I think there's a reason they call them tea sippers. I, I hate to say it, I love my Texas folks. I don't mean it as a slight, but I have not seen anything differently from an environment standpoint. It is probably in my opinion the most disappointing big stadium that I have been to because it's a massive venue and it's a beautiful venue. But the atmosphere, as far as crowd involvement and noise, it's. It's just not there. At number 11, I got four field at Missouri Forough Field's one that's very underrated. It is. And, and I bumped Faro Field up this high because of the fan involvement and the atmosphere. When I went last year, guys, one end zone was completely unopened, right. Because of the. I believe it's the north end zone project. Whatever end zone. Maybe it's the west. I have no idea. The end zone project they have. One side of the stadium was completely closed. But I give Mizzou fans credit. The. The in stadium atmosphere, the involvement from the fans, the chanting going on. Mr. Brightside, there are some signature things in the stadium that make that a really fun and really raucous environment to, to a point to where you're like, I didn't expect this to be this difficult of a place to play, but it is, it is. They create a good environment in there. I'm really excited to get back to Como, see for Rofield after the renovations. Gonna be awesome. It looks incredible. They're going to be done for this season. Cannot wait to get back. But I've got for row field at number 11, number 10, I've got Vaught Hemingway Stadium in Oxford. Mississippi at Ole Miss. I have been very, very blessed with my trips to Oxford based off the games that I've gotten. 20, 24, I rushed the field and Ole Miss beat Georgia last year. Was there for the Florida game when Lane Kiffin, the rumors of him going to Gainesville were circulating. They win that football game. Then I went to the playoff game against Tulane. This is another one where I just think the in stadium atmosphere is really, really fun. Some of the songs and the chants and the things they do. And Ole Miss fans were much rowdier than I expected. Right. Obviously it's starting in the Grove. You make your way to the stadium, lock the vault if you will. Very, very underrated venue. Very underrated atmosphere. Again, maybe I've just gotten the best version of Oxford because Ole Miss is really good and I've gone to some great games. But I have been impressed for a stadium especially of that size, which it doesn't stack up to A lot of the stadiums in the sec, I think they get the most out of the capacity they have. They are one of those that maximizes the capacity they have. It feels like everyone's involved in the game. So for a smaller stadium, certainly it was much louder than I think even I expected. And again, being at the game against Georgia in 24 Florida last year, certainly the two lane college football playoff game, I walked away really, really impressed with that venue. And number nine, I'VE got Memorial Stadium at Oklahoma. Tough place to play, beautiful stadium. I think the outside of the stadium is really the highlight if we're being honest, as far as the tradition and the history and the Heisman trophies and you know, the coaches. So many statues, statues all over the place at this one. I love Norman. I love Memorial Stadium. Nine feels about right for me. I went for the Michigan game last year. It was a good environment. Wasn't great. Yeah. I mean it's. Yeah, it's a really good environment. I have nothing really negative to say about it. I just think this is where you start to get to the territory of guys. There are so many, many fantastic venues in the sec. We're really starting to split hairs here and kind of at this point, at this point, nine to the top of the list on the right night. Any of these nine can be the best venue in college football. Right. But on a consistency basis and you know, Oklahoma, great venue. I think nine is, is the correct spot for them. Number eight. Guys, I've got Bryant Denny Stadium at Alabama. Now this is one that the reason Bama's not higher for me, I've seen it at its best. I, I've literally seen Brian any stadium at its very best. And I know Bama fans will agree. I was there in 2024 when they beat Georgia. Ryan Williams, then Ryan Williams, now Ryan Coleman Williams had the crazy catch, obviously the circus catch to help beat the Georgia Bulldogs. I had people tell me, Chris, you just saw the best Bama home game in the last decade plus. Right. Was there last year as well when they played lsu. Good environment, I think because LSU not being good, it wasn't a great environment. And that's why Bama is down on this list for me. When you go to Bryant Denny Stadium, when you go to Tuscaloosa and play him, as beautiful a venue as as massive a venue as that is, you're more nervous to play Bama because of the team, not necessarily because of the environment. And Bama fans take weeks off, like let's just call it for what it is, right. I've got buddies of other teams of lesser, you know, not top tier teams that have gone to Brian any and said, man, it's a very okay atmosphere, very okay. Right. Bama fans get up once or twice a year for games they think they feel like they might lose. Outside of that, it's a good atmosphere. It's good. It's not the best in the SEC though. So eight for me, I feel like is very fair for Bryant Denny and again, any given night, you could call it the best environment in the country. But number eight overall feels right to me. And number seven, I've got Jordan Hare Stadium at Auburn. Been to it twice. Went in 2024 when they lost to Arkansas. Good environment, lackluster because they lost last year. I think I got one of the best. I got it. It's arguably its best. When they played Alabama in the Iron bowl, that place had pockets of deafening, deafening noise. These next two were tough for me. I could interchange them. If I'm being totally honest, Jordan Hare is a tough place to play. Just from the standpoint of two. Weird things happen there. Very, very weird things happen at Auburn. Very weird things happen at Jordan Hare. Think about the miracle at Jordan Hare and all the different crazy plays, the kick six, whatever that have taken place. I think as we see Auburn football, and if you wanted to convince me and say this one's top three or four guys, I wouldn't even fight you on it. But I think as we see Auburn football rise and get better, I think we're going to see this jump back up the list. But you know, I know I said in the beginning that win loss records, I just said they're not the primary. Hey, let's just rank it based off home winning percentage because that, that's a completely different list. But I will say, like, Auburn struggled at home. Like, they haven't been that good at home. They haven't really protected the home field. So at some point, is it that tough of a place to play really? I mean, I think it is, but that does have to factor in somewhat. So I've got it at 7 with potential to be much, much higher moving forward. But seven for me is where I landed it. Number six, guys, I've got Williams Bryce Stadium at South Carolina. Again, I went back and forth on these six and seven. You could interchange them. I wouldn't fight you at all. There's nights where Williams Bryce Stadium is the craziest and most toughest, most difficult place to play in all of college football. And you know, there's other nights where. Yeah, yeah, you know, the thing with the South Carolina fan base, I'll say is this probably the biggest knock against them. That place will get quiet in a hurry if things start to go south. Right. And we've all seen, and they're not the only ones who we've seen the pictures of on social media, but the stadium clearing out and it's as loyal a fan base as any, don't get me wrong. But you know, staying till the end of the game would help. It would help the ranking, certainly. And there's also just some fantastic venues ahead of them. I will say this. I've been to Williams Bryce Stadium many, many times. I don't think I have to explain my history and go down that rabbit hole. Last time I was there, 2024 against LSU, that was the famous Nicki Minwari blocking the bat game. South Carolina, did they get robbed? Whatever. I had never heard a stadium that loud for a noon game. And I have been in there, guys, and I've seen it at its very best. And I mean, when Sandstorm gets going and it's a night game and you give South Carolina fans an ounce of hope, there's not a more difficult place to play in college football on the right night. I mean, it is, it is truly a madhouse. When you have a slogan for your stadium that says, if it ain't swaying, we ain't playing. Meaning the upper deck is literally moving because of the noise and because of the, you know, fans making their presence felt. That says a lot. So Williams Bryce Stadium it is. We start to get into like insane asylum territory. That place is insanity. For the right game, right night. Towels are going, sandstorms going. And South Carolina fans, a fan base that is as passionate as any. They will show up, they will show out, they will support because they will pack out the stadium even when the team is not very good. So number six, Williams Bryce Stadium, number five. We're getting to our top five now. I've got Sanford Stadium at Georgia. Sanford Stadium, in my opinion, gets way too much hate. I, I think it gets way too much hate when that place gets rocking and that place gets loud, guys, it's, it's deafening. I mean it's, it's as loud as any stadium and all of college football. I've been there a couple times now over the last couple years. Last year was actually there for the Alabama game and in 2024 was there for the Tennessee game. So I have seen some high profile matchups there. Again, certainly last year being the Bama game, that environment is one of the best in college football. I mean, it really truly is. Stadium size, perspective, obviously it's one of the best. But Dogs fans, I don't have to tell many of you, as rowdy as it gets, I love the in game atmosphere, iconic fight song, iconic traditions all throughout the game. Yeah, a game at Sanford Stadium, if you have not been and you're a college football fan, not just an SEC fan, you need to put it on your bucket list, that place, it catches way too much flag. I understand Georgia's good. And, you know, I mean, how good are they, guys? They're 532 at home since 2017. 532 at home last year against Bama was just the second loss they've had at home since 2017. Think about how crazy of a number that is. But the fans make their presence felt. I mean, they really do. I've had a blast in my experiences there, and it is. It is. It is certainly deserving of being considered one of the best venues in all of college football. Number four, I've got Kyle Field at Texas A M. If at nothing else from you walk in there, guys, and you are amazed that a building such as that exists. I. I mean, I got to get on the field back in 2024, the night before the Texas Texas A and M game, and that is the only time that I have been. And you know, obviously the game goes how it goes and. And the crowd noise dissipated because of the way the game went. But getting to hear it at its peak in pre game and the start of the game and, you know, running out to power it, it is just. It's a visually intimidating atmosphere. Really. Truly the 12th man. I understand the Yaggies catch a lot of crap for the traditions they have, what have you, but it is one of the most difficult places to go play a football game in all of college football. It's. Yeah, like, if you have. It's hard to describe. Like, when you think of the state of Texas, everything's bigger in Texas, they say. When I think of everything's bigger in Texas, I think of Garfield. Just from a venue standpoint alone, you are blown away. If you're a visitor, you're running in there, you're like, holy. Like, you got to take a moment to catch your breath and really like, holy smokes. Now, again, have teams gone in there one before? Certainly. I'm not saying it's impossible to go win in there. I think A and M's got to do a better job of protecting the home field. But it is. It is a. It is as visually intimidating here as you will get in college football, and it makes it certainly a difficult place to play. Comes in at number four for me. At number three, I've got the Swamp at Florida. When you have a badass nickname, that helps your case in my mind, but it goes far beyond that. Right. This is probably actually my favorite stadium in the SEC from a. From a building standpoint, because it's so Unique, right. Because of the. The colors inside the stadium and the paint and the structure and the way it's done. And I'm really curious to see what some of these, these renovations of the Swamp and the construction project. They're doing what it looks like and I hope they don't change much because it has been one of the best venues in college football for a really long time. And I think it still is one of the most difficult, one of the toughest places to play in all of college football. Certainly the SEC guys, I mean, the place is deafening. It is absolutely deafening. And Florida fans, from the in game traditions, the in game chance, one of the best, maybe the best in game tradition in all of college football. Move back. You suck. Move back like whenever the opposing team gets a penalty. That might be the best in game tradition because it's just so funny and so witty and so clever. The Swamp is an incredible venue. I mean, it is. It is awesome. I love it. It has so much character. Gator fans are as passionate as any in college football. The Gator chomp, right? You're chomping at the opponent. I mean, only Gators get out alive. And I understand Florida football is taking a step back and it's John Sumrall's job to get him back. But guys, you look at Florida's schedule, we're going to do it this year. If they get you in the Swamp, you, you good luck it. You. You feel. You feel confident. It gives Florida a bump. Ask Texas about what happened last year. Like, it gives you a bump. When you get to play at the Swamp, there's no denying it. It is one of the most difficult places to play in all of college football. It's tried and true. It has stood the test of time. The Swamp is one of the iconic venues in all of college football. And number two and one and two here, for me, guys, they are interchangeable. I think it's 1A 1B more than 1 and 2. But at number two, I'm going to go Neyland Stadium at Tennessee again. 1A 1B. And if you want to argue Neyland should be 1. Guys, I will not fight you on it because I have seen Nealon over the last two seasons. 2024 was at the Bama game. 2025, I was at the Georgia game, which I understand they lost that football game. But I got to see Checker Neal in that last year. Let me tell you, Checker Nealan hits different than even regular Nean does. I mean, hard to put into words. It's real. Nean Stadium is hard to put into words. Over a hundred thousand strong on top of you because they built this stadium essentially straight up, but a hundred thousand screaming ball fans on top of you, making your life a living hell for 60 minutes. It is on the right night. It is the most difficult place to play in all of college football. There's loud and then there's kneeling loud. It is one of the most deafening experiences I've ever had in a college football stadium. And it makes for every time you go, no matter who the opponent is, you're going to get a good crowd pop or two, it's going to happen, it's going to happen. So, I mean, it's the way the noise is captured inside that stadium. It is. It's a daunting place to go play a football game. It is one of those stadiums in college football that truly, I think you look at a schedule and say, this environment could swing this result one way or another. Really, Truly. I mean, when I was at that Georgia game last year, Tennessee fans did their job. Tennessee fans did their job. It. That's a great way to put it, too. It's one of those venues where it feels like the fan base shows up to the ballpark, understanding we are the 12th participant, we can make a difference in the football game. It's a fan base that shows up, understanding we can make an impact. We can sway the result one way or another based off our involvement in the game. And I mean, it's. It's incredible. It's an incredible atmosphere. It feels like one of the seven wonders of the world. If you have not been to Neyland Stadium, you're doing yourself a disservice as a college football fan. You have to get to Knoxville, you have to get to Neyland. Neyland loud is different, but at number one for me, I got Death Valley in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, home of the LSU Tigers. And again, 1A, 1B. If you want to put Neyland at one and Death Valley at two, I will not fight you. But I have been to a lot of stadiums and I have seen a lot of incredible games, experienced a lot of incredible moments. There is nothing like a Saturday night in Death Valley. It is. It's not just one of the most iconic stadiums in all of college football. It's not just, in my opinion, the loudest stadium in the sec, the toughest place to play in the sec, it's one of the toughest places to play in all sports. Like, there are just things you can Count on. There are things you can count on in sports and in life. Death, taxes. And LSU winning games at night in Baton Rouge at Death Valley, where the chance of rain is never. You guessed it. Now, am I saying LSU's never lost a home game? That is not what I'm saying. I know I've got plenty of Alabama fans and A M fans all scoffing at me, but on a consistent basis, Louisiana State University, Death Valley. There is no more difficult place to play. I've had the opportunity, guys in the last couple years. Last year I was there at the A M game. I've seen it clear out, right? I've seen it clear out by half or just after halftime. I have seen that happen by end of third quarter. Heck, I left the game early. And that's the only time in my travels I have left the game early, if you can believe that. But I saw it in 2024 as well, when LSU played Ole Miss and beat them in overtime and we rushed the field. There's just something extra to it, man. I. I don't know if it's the voodoo or if it's the crawfish or if it's the bourbon. I don't know what it is, but there, there's something. There's something extra about it. There's just something different about it, man. When you got a 100,000, over a hundred thousand screaming Cajuns in your ear, it starts at the pregame. Obviously, the tailgating is one of the best in the sec, the tiger bait chance, if you will. But you get in the stadium, man, and that's when the real fun begins. The sun sets over the western sky. The. The chance of rain is never. And you know when you see that tiger eye at the 50 and you see 100,000 strong in the purple and gold, you are in for 60 minutes of hell. Now, you may win, you very well may lose, as many others have done, but you are in for a fight for 60 minutes. The toughest place to play in all of college football and all the sec, in my opinion, it is at number one on my list. So those are my toughest places to play rankings in the sec. Guys, here's the thing again, like I said, you don't have to win every single game at your home stadium to be considered the toughest place to play or one of the toughest places to play. Because then it would just be let's just rank these teams and let's just rank these stadiums based off of home winning percentage. And like I said, if you're playing Georgia, you're playing Bama, you're playing Texas. Here's the deal with it for anybody who goes and plays Georgia, right? They could go play you at the, at the local ymca. Are we going to call the local YMCA the toughest place in the country to play? What makes a place difficult to play? The atmosphere. Well, what makes the atmosphere, the fans, the sound, the the in game atmosphere. From an involvement standpoint, it's not just win loss record. Now again you got to win games at home, don't get me wrong. But it's not just oh well you're undefeated at home or you've lost one at home or two at home. That's how we're ranking you. Because in that case there'd be no point in ranking these right. There'd be no, there'd be no opinion attached to the rankings if you will, which would be no fun in my opinion. Fawn says the swamp is a hole. It is dirty. The upper level is a death trap. It's straight up the I've seen many people fall down those things. Fonz. I I can't relate. That's just not my experience. I don't know how else to say it. Listen, is it an older stadium? Sure. But I mean, there's plenty of them that you could point out back. I mean, Death Valley is an older stadium. There's plenty of them you could point out and make that same comment. I Listen, I think the Swamp has character. I think it's an awesome venue. I have nothing but the concourses are small. That's my biggest gripe about it. The concourses are small and the concessions are a little bit outrageous. But as far as a venue and a building perspective, it's it's one of the best in the country. Fawn says Texas 8 and 4 is just a weirdo cult. Just a bunch of weirdos. Well, Fonz, you're not the only one that feels that way. I I can imagine there's many in our audience that would echo that as well. AI Adventures OU Texas is the toughest SEC we're going to play in. It is the most unique for sure. It is the most unique for sure and it presents a challenge unlike anywhere else in the sec. To your point, AI Adventures, I do like you bringing that up. Let's see. Nice. Wills makes the point. Every team in the Final Four this year to past year had a stadium capacity of less than 60, 000 fans. Isn't that crazy? Isn't that crazy Fonz? Old piss is tough to be tough to play in with only 63000 people in it. Like I said, like I said. I think with I think they get the most out of the attendance that they have. It feels like it's more than 63000 in my opinion. It feels like it's more nice wills. It's a good segue. Before we get to the subject, Arkansas is the worst team in the SEC. They're going 2 and 10 again. I hate it for their fans. Their admin needs their ass whooped. Too many resources to be that bad. Nice wheels. Like you mentioned, that is a good segue. And that is the question we have posed today because we're going to keep it moving and we're going to continue on with our team Preview series. The 2026 season for the Arkansas Razorbacks is just around the corner. A new era officially begins. The Ryan Silverfield era in Fayetteville as he tries to prove he was the right man and is the right man for the job. And the big question is this. Where does the hope and where does the optimism come for Arkansas football? Guys, we're going to dive into all things Arkansas for the 2026 season and the we don't have to spend a lot of time on how we got here. Typically, we'll spend some time dwelling on, hey, here's what happened in 2025. Here's how it sets the team for 2026. But there really isn't a whole lot to discuss from 2025, is there? Arkansas goes 2 and 10, 0 and 8 in conference. The Sam Pittman era in Fayetteville officially comes to an end, and it all comes crumbling down. Arkansas, who even lost a Mississippi State to give the Dogs their one lone SEC win. They knew they had to make a change. The Sam Pittman era was over. He was on arguably the hottest seat in the SEC going into last season. In comes Ryan Silverfield. Ryan Silverfield takes over, Hired over from Memphis, who, ironically enough, Ryan Silverfield beat Sam Pittman and the Arkansas Razorbacks a season ago. It is his first season and the big question is, will Ryan Silverfield prove to be the right guy? I have found it somewhat fascinating to see if you went through and did SEC football head coach approval ratings. Does Ryan Silverfield have a negative approval rating or a unsatisfactory rating, if you will, before he's even coached a game? Because I don't think he's the guy that a lot of Arkansas fans wanted. Obviously, it looked like you were going to get Alex Golish. That did not happen because of some leaks and some things that took place and you land on Ryan Silverfield. Admittedly, guys, I was underwhelmed with the hire. I feel like if you're Arkansas and you're looking to inject optimism and excitement in your program and you're looking to make a splash, hiring Ryan Silverfield was not the way to go. Now here's the deal, right? Because a lot of Arkansas fans push back, because John Sumrall gets loved. Alex Golich gets love. Ryan Silverfield has beaten both of those coaches and I believe has a winning record against both of them. So he very well may prove to be the best of the bunch. And I think there's a lot of things that Ryan Silverfield is fighting at Arkansas that don't necessarily have a ton to do with him. Whether it comes to resources or it comes to the investment behind the program, or it comes to fighting, you know, historical insignificance or, or just the schedule or whatever it might be, there's A lot standing in his way. So will Ryan Silverfield prove to be that guy? I was someone who was underwhelmed with the hire. I was very skeptical on it. Maybe he can prove me wrong and show he was the right fit for Arkansas. Now, as we take a look at this football team going in the 2026 season, we'll start on the offensive side. Offensive coordinator Tim Kramsey takes over. It's A battle between K.J. jackson and Memphis transfer A.J. hill at the QB1 spot. K.J. jackson, the guy I got to see in person last year against Texas, like to the athleticism, thought there were some things there that could excite you if you're a Hog fan. But he will battle for AJ or he will battle AJ Hill for that spot. Braylon Russell, a Memphis transfer. Sutton Smith spearheading. Spearheading the rushing attack. Now, who gets the bulk of the carries? We shall see. I like Braylon Russell's game. He's a thumper, big body back. Sutton Smith should add a dynamic, another dynamic to that as well. Coming in. As you can imagine, the theme of this is going to be lots of Memphis transfers. CJ Brown is back at wide receiver. He's accompanied by Ishmael Cse. And they also bolstered this room via transfers Chris Marshall, Donovan Fopel and Jamari Hawkins at the wide receiver spot. Jaden Platt is back at tight end for you, and two starters are back on the offensive line. You did also add in transfers Kavon Broussard from Ohio, Bryant Williams from Louisiana and Malachi Breland from Memphis. So all of that being said, it is a lot of new. I think this offense has got to work through the running game. It's got to work through Braylon Russell. Braylon Russell is one of the most proven guys on this football team, not just this offense. I think it's going to start with him and a Sutton Smith being involved as well. Whether It's Sutton Smith, RB1, Braylon Russell, RB1. I think this offense has got to work through the running game because you have uncertainties at quarterback, you have uncertainties at wide receiver. Can this offensive line come together? That's really the big question with the offense. You have so many new pieces that you are banking on. And also guys, not just the offense, but it's a theme for the football team. You've got a lot of guys coming from lower levels, the G6, smaller, deep, whatever it is. You got a lot of these guys that you're asking to be SEC contributors on a daily basis. Is it Asking too much. Do some guys rise of the occasion? Right. The answer to that is probably going to determine your ceiling and really who you are as a football team. Like I said, I saw some things I liked in K.J. jackson. The way people are talking about Camario Taylor over at Mississippi State, I kind of see some of that with a K.J. jackson now. Is he as developed as a passer? We'll see. And again, he is in that battle with A.J. hill for the QB1 job. Will Silverfield go with his guy from Memphis or will he go with one K.J. jackson? Could we have another K.J. taking over again? Fayetteville, I think if this offense is going to be a strength, a guy like I'm going to assume K.J. jackson's the guy, he's just got to be special for you. He's got to make some big time plays. Right? Because you're lacking at receiver. You're lacking in regards to, I think, playmakers to help him out. That'll be the big question. Who helps out the quarterback? It's just a lot of unknown. It's a lot of unknown, It's a lot of uncertainty and we'll see what Tim Kramsy and Ryan Silverfield can dial up. Offensively, you're just relying on a lot of guys who don't have a lot of experience contributing at a very high level. What does that mean for you? We'll see. On the defensive side, Ron Roberts, a name that many SEC fans know from his time at Florida and other stops. He takes over at defensive coordinator. Quincy Rhodes Jr. Returns as the star of the defense. At defensive end, you add in Hunter Osborne from Virginia and David Okey is back. Expect him to make a big impact in the middle of that defense. Zadavian Sims from Oregon, Carlin Jones from usc. Trajan Odom from Ohio State. Danny Bill iii, who's a freshman. Anthony Kennedy, the junior who's a freshman. Those two freshmen, they're really high on, they are going to help fill out the front seven of that defense and really that defensive front as a whole. So again, the theme, lot of transfer portal players. You were expecting to come in and make an impact. Bradley Shaw is a fantastic player. Arkansas continuously seems to spit out these really, really nice linebacker prospects for whatever reason. Bradley Shaw, though he is a leader at linebacker, he's accompanied by Jacquavian Smith, the Buffalo transfer, a player the staff is really high on. There's a high number of transfers competing in the secondary. Guys like Jahem Johnson, DJ Hairston, DJ Harrison Jr Excuse me, Lai, Roland, Kamori, House, Christian, Harrison. They're all looking to make an immediate impact. Again, guys, those are many of those names that just mentioned. Also transfers. What does it all mean? Lot of uncertainty, right? Lot of uncertainty. I think it's a group that could be solid. It's just. It's hard to have confidence when it's so many new pieces. New can be good. New can be very good. Because, listen, your defense was awful last year. I mean, there wasn't a. There wasn't a whole lot about your football team that was very good last year, but your defense certainly was on a strength. So the hope is that a lot of new equals a lot of good when it comes to production. And I, I like Quincy Rhodes Jr. Obviously up front, and I think Bradley Shaw is a great player at linebacker. Who else? Who else? And I gotta be honest with you too, man, I. The Ron Roberts hire at dc, that was one that made me scratch my head a little bit, if I'm being totally honest. So just again, the common theme, lots of new for Arkansas. Does it equate to better results? Guys, let's give some love to the specialists really, really quickly. Most notably, Max Gilbert comes in from Tennessee. You might recall he was the one that unfortunately missed the kick against Georgia that would have given the balls the win over the Dogs last year. But you do pick up Max Gilbert. Veteran SEC kicker Gavin Rush, the freshman is expected to take over at punter. And Sutton Smith over from Memphis. He is a guy that could be dynamic in the return game for. For you. Special teams needs to be a big factor for Arkansas, guys. If you're trying to steal some wins and overachieve and let's just say get to six wins, for example, the specialists need to be a part of it, right? Special teams needs to make a difference. It needs to be a strength for you this season. Guys, when it comes to the overall outlook for the Arkansas Razorbacks, starting with our friends over at ki, what does KI have to say? Percentage chances on KI of how many games Arkansas is going to win this season. KI gives Arkansas a 57% chance to win four or more games. It then drops to 33% chance at five or more games, 29% chance to win six or more games, 13% chance to win seven or more games. And if you're feeling real frisky, they've even got 10% chance to win 10 or more games. So it breaks right at about between four and five, four and a half, probably being the win total where they're like, hey, Are you going to go more or less than four and a half as far as qualifying for the College Football Playoff? The Arkansas Razorbacks have. They do not have a percentage chance to do so and they do not have a percentage chance to win the national championship. Take it up with Kalshee if you are mad about that. Six starters are back for the Hogs. Four on offense, two on defense and we turn and obviously a slew of new players coming via the transfer portal. And as we turn our attention guys, I want to take a look at this schedule because this schedule, Arkansas fans, they understand it tried and true. Why does the SEC continue to give Arkansas one of the most difficult slates in all of college football? The ESPN FBI that came out late last week. Well the Hogs yet again have the toughest schedule in the SEC per the ESPN FBI and the toughest schedule of the entire country, might I add. Arkansas opens up a non conference north Alabama at home to get the season rolling. Good. You should start one zero then week two gets real for lack of a better way of putting it. As you travel to Salt Lake City to take on the Utah Utes in non conference play, you open up SEC play against the Georgia Bulldogs at home. Best of luck. May the odds ever be in your favor. You then get Tulsa to close out the month of September in non conference. The rest of the schedule looks like this. You're at Texas A and M, Tennessee at home at Vandy. Then you get a buy Missouri at home on Halloween. That game has been moved up. You're at Auburn, South Carolina at home at Texas and then home to LSU to close out the season. What I will say is this, this is actually a balanced schedule from the home and away standpoint. Like you don't have some crazy three game road stretch and you don't have really like a long home stretch either. It's pretty back and forth, back and forth, back and forth. That Week 2 game at Utah presents a challenge. It also presents an opportunity, right. If you're going to overachieve, if you're going to exceed expectations, go. Going 30 in non con is probably something you need to do, right? Because it will get no easier. I mean George at home, out the gate, boy, I, I, I don't even know if you're gonna, I don't even know if Arkansas is in a position where we can call that a measuring stick game. That is a when I look at this schedule, guys, you're going to be big dogs to Georgia. You're going to be a big dog at A and M, you're going to be a big dog to lsu. You're going to be a big dog AT T, Texas. Right. And when I say big dog, of course I mean big underdog. It's about showing signs of hope and promise in year one. Cover the spread. Cover the spread. That's. That's what you have to play for. Because realistically, those four I just mentioned, you can probably go ahead and put an L next to those games in heavy black ink. Just cover the spread in those games. Right. Tennessee at home is really intriguing because of your history against Tennessee. Tennessee has not fared well in Fayetteville at any point. South Carolina at home at Vandy Mizzou at home at Auburn as well. What do you do in those four games? I mean, I think that really determines the type of season you have. You should beat North Alabama. I will say you should beat Tulsa. As of right now, I think that is a really, really tricky game. It is at home. Let's just say you should beat him. That's two wins right there again at Vandy Mizzou, at Auburn, South Carolina, those four games, are you realistically going 4 0? Probably not. But that at least how you fare in those four is going to be the foundation of what sets you up to potentially overachieve and maybe, let's say, get to a bowl game in year one of Ryan Silverfield. And on that note, guys, overall as a whole, I posed the question in the title and I will ask the question yet again. And I think the debate to be had, is this the worst team in the SEC going in the 2026 season? And I don't say that to pile on to Arkansas fans or, you know, rub your nose in it or. But it's a real question. You know, I think it's between Arkansas, Mississippi State, maybe Kentucky. But I like some of the pieces Kentucky brought in. I don't think Vandy is going to take that big of a step back. So what can Ryan Silverfield. My question is what can Ryan Silverfield do in year one to inject optimism into the Arkansas football program? Because, guys, I, I have never understood it. I have never understood this, this woe is me mentality around Arkansas football and why we don't expect more from Arkansas football. Why can't Arkansas football be the next Indiana? That may sound crazy, but I mean, passionate fan base, a good home environment, that can be great at times. Think back to the Texas game a couple years ago when they beat them. Can be great with the right game and a fan base that if they have hope, will show up and show out and we'll support this program. You have wealthy, you know, alumni base. Think of Sam Walton, Walmart, think of Jerry Jones. And I'm not in those buildings and I'm not in those rooms. I don't know who's given what, but, like, it feels like the ingredients are there. And when I ask one of my Arkansas friends, you know, I like to look at things over the course of a decade. That's a really good sample size, right. How often you should do something or what the expectation should be. I asked, when I asked one of my Arkansas buddies, what are the realistic expectations for Arkansas? How many times could Arkansas fans expect the Hogs to make the College Football Playoff over the course of a decade? When they respond to me, zero. Something is broken with that program to a point to where the fan base is broken and is looking for any reason, any signs of life and hope and optimism. I think that's got to be your goal. If you're Ryan Silverfield in Year one, obviously you get the sticks, wins, you get to a bowl game that takes care of itself. But let's say you don't. What does success look like in year one? Can you really sit there and say, if we go four and eight, thumbs up, we had a successful year. You are really in the depths and the pits of hell as a fan, if you start saying 4 and 8's a success now, I think you got to be realistic. You know, I think this is an Arkansas roster that I don't know is ready to compete at the SEC level. You're asking a lot of guys who are coming from smaller schools, are coming from lower levels to play above probably their talent level and maybe Ryan Silverfield can coach them up. But it is going to take a miraculous effort, in my opinion, for Arkansas to not finish dead last in the sec. It's going to take a miraculous effort. Now, can it happen? Sure. I mentioned those four swing games, those four big swing games. Those are the ones that I think if you're going to make noise, that's probably it. Guys. I look at the schedule and again, I, I just don't think from a roster standpoint you're going to be able to stand toe to toe with Georgia, Texas A and M, Texas or lsu. I, I, I just don't see it. I think I'm being pretty nice saying even Missouri, who's done a good job, build, you know, Tennessee, those are long shots for you, I think, but they're both at home. Maybe you can make noise at home. So, you know, I think for Ryan Silverfield as well, putting together competitive performances at home as well, that was something at the end of the Sam Pittman era, they weren't just losing games at home, guys. They were getting their doors blown off, right? So being competitive at home, covering the spread against the big boys, stealing a couple wins here that don't have any embarrassing moments in year one. Don't go lose a Tulsa. All due respect to Tulsa, don't go lose to Tulsa. Don't get beat down 59 and nothing by Georgia on your home field, right? You can't get pants in front of your home fan base. Ryan Silverfield's job in year one is to find a way, whether it's by the way they play or how they play or how many games they win, find a way to inject positivity, optimism and most importantly, hope in this Arkansas fan base and in this Arkansas football program. But certainly, guys, it is a long way to go. It is a high hill to climb, and I think it's very valid to say that this is probably the worst team in the SEC in 2026. The good news, with the nine game conference schedule and with the schedules changing, we are going to get that game very, very soon. Guys, before we get out of here really quickly, I do want to talk about the Open Championship that'll take place this weekend. As you can see, it's very obvious if you've been following along, you know, I'm a big golf guy, so let's talk a little bit. Open Championship. We won't spend too much time on this, but Royal Birkdale is the site in England of the 154th Open Championship. Really excited as we dive into top storylines. Lynx golf. It's funny, I like links golf. I'm not a lover of links golf necessarily, but I do like it. It's a different challenge. It challenges the players in different ways. Also, Royal Burkdale, who hosts the Open Championship in 2017. The course has changed since then, as you can imagine. It's been lengthened because every single golf course in the country and in the world seems like is getting lengthened. How does that affect the play? How will Scotty bounce back from missing the cut? That is a big storyline. Scotty Scheffler had not missed a cut of belief since 2022, I'm pretty sure. So, yeah, that's. That's something to definitely keep an eye on. You gotta think he's gonna come in determined, ready to go, and it's. This is the last major of the year, by the way. It's weird to think, is Scotty Scheffler gonna go all the 20, 26 and not win a major? That'd be weird. Can Roy McElroy keep his incredible year going? Obviously, Rory and Scotty are the two favorites, as you can imagine. Really excited to see what Rory does. As long as he's recovered from fielding some of the insane questions that he's gotten and Scotty got by the media. You think college football media is bad? I golf media. I don't know if they know what in the world's going on or what planet they are on. Can Jordan Speed find some magic? To me, he's always a Storyline One of my favorite players has had success, has won an Open championship before. Can he catch lightning in a bottle? Will an Englishman hoist the trophy? It'd be the first since Nick Faldo, Sir Nick in 1992. Maybe a Tommy Fleetwood as someone who could get on a roll and do we have a first time major winner? Right. Chris Goddard's gotten red hot over the last few weeks. He's never won a major before. Tom Kim, could he potentially win a major? There's many others in the field as well. Joaquin Neiman one. That's number one. A major. He's in the field, right? Number of guys that could get it rolling, get it going. One fun thing, one fun note about the Open. I like this tournament. Admittedly, it's, it's, it's not my favorite major. You know what's tough about it, guys? The start time. I mean how many of y' all and how many of us are waking up at 3am Central, 2am Central to watch the Open Championship? It's not the easiest tournament to catch just because of how early it comes on. I understand. Obviously they're in Europe. It makes sense. We can't do anything about time zones. But just an interesting wrinkle, interesting dynamic when you're trying to catch the coverage and and watch the tournament. Heck, you wake up at 9:10am tournament is three quarter of the way over, if not more. Right. So something to keep in mind and keep an eye on, by the way.
