How about that Pollock interception in the end zone? Well, it's David Pollux. He's got a heart of a lion. I'm real proud of that kid. This is C Ball. Get Ball. College football's top show for football analysis, predictions and coach interviews. Now here's your host, three times All American, seven time Emmy award winner. Oh, yeah, I guess we're live because it's another week of college football and week five was fantastic. We already got people in the chat. That's what I think is very interesting is people jump in the chat ready to rock and roll. Right off the jump, Georgia had some insanely bad drops. Not like last year, but. But it does feel like a lot of the same for Georgia because Georgia loses to Alabama again and I bet you dog fans are a little bit ticked off. I bet you Roll Tide fans or have plenty to say about owning Georgia because they have. Man, it's been crazy that. That Georgia's seven losses now are 20 losses for Kirby Smart era. Seven losses have been to Alabama. And the slow start thing is really weird. It's getting really weird for Georgia. And if you're a Georgia fan, you're probably getting confused by it too, because obviously Kirby's a heck of a fricking football coach. Ain't nobody denying that. But slow starts. How about this? The last lead that they had versus a Power 4 team early in the game was Texas last October. And that was dog stats that put that out. So that's nuts. I mean, you think about Georgia and you think about. Listen, they've adjust. They adjusted well. But that first quarter, you watch Bama go down the field, man, it was 14 play drive. 14 play drive. And it's just. It's just crazy. It's crazy. Nuts to. To watch Bama come in with such a great plan. Bama's creativity, I think was. Was really good too. They threw a pass to the tackle to their offensive tackle, Caden Proctor, who's an absolute freak of an athlete. That was. That was interesting that on a third and short they go reverse. Like basically reverse pass and then have Bernard throw it. He tried to throw it earlier in the game too. But I think the start for. For Bama to 14 play drives going down the field doing what they want was really the difference in the game because since that from that point on, it was. It was really, really balanced. It was really, really good. But Ty Simpson, man, we talked about him since. Since the FSU game. It's. He's good when he's got his feet set and he sees it and he pulls the trigger. He's really good, really elite. And the pass rush for Georgia was something that, that you were. That you were confused with again because they weren't getting home a bunch tackled better. Is it fair to say too that the ground game and Chauncey Bowens is. Is the. Is the best running back for Georgia because he's been. He was toting the rock. Georgia ran the football really, really well. I think the two big plays that, that, that really probably that they're going to look back on and say what happened was the big drop, you know, late in the football game to take the lead and then you know, you got a red zone opportunity and you tie game, right? Tie. No, no. Down by 3, 24 or had a chance to tie it up if you're Georgia in the red zone, fourth and one Gunner has a scramble on third and short. Kind of debatable like, how good the spot was. They go for it on fourth down and absolutely get shut down in the backfield. Gets tackled, Cash Jones gets tackled. And so, you know, missed opportunities. And again, we could say this all the time with Georgia, like, we can always say this with Alabama. Missed opportunities, but it. But it happens. And Alabama took advantage. Even a great play call late in the game with. With no timeouts. I'd love to hear Wes Brent, like, Ellis Robinson, like, what the heck was that? That was. That was weird, the jumping over the pot. I. Kurt. I thought Kirk was really, really ticked off, which is. I love. I love Cantanker as Kirk, Herb street, over the years, I've always enjoyed that. But I thought Ty Simpson was kind of like, you know, getting some ground, you know, and so I think they were trying. Trying to. I think he was trying to go over the top and make a play. But the Taylor drop, the Frazier fumble. Alabama didn't make mistakes. Georgia made mistakes. Like you had. You had a fumble that gave Alabama a field goal. You dropped a touchdown pass. Ryan Williams drops a touchdown pass. But they. But they also ran it in. You don't kick a field goal. It's the difference in the game. So, you know, Georgia. Georgia loses again to Alabama. Alabama, you know, makes enough plays. And I think Georgia's got to ask themselves, how do we. How do we. How do we get a pass rush? How do we get to the quarterback? How do we affect the quarterback? That's. That's going to be a big key for them, because I'm not sure the. The coverage in the back end is. Is good enough to. To continue to shut people down. But you got to be impressed with the way they adjusted, the way they fought. And give Kirk credit. He said, like this. This game isn't going anywhere. And he was absolutely right. Now, Penn State, Oregon, let me tell you something. I was. I was out. I don't know about you guys, but, like, I was out on Drew Aller. I was. I was done. I was ready to bury Penn State and just their offense, man. Like, it's. It's. What is it? It's. It's. It's very frustrating. It's very interesting to watch. Like, the passing game is not. Like, there's no rhythm to it. There's no rhyme to it. There's no. Aller sticks his foot in the ground and makes a throw. You know, like, you want to see some of that timing stuff. And they. They. They ran the football. They Came back. But if you, if you didn't see the game, dude, no. Very few, no turnovers in the game until ot. Like both quarterbacks, Oregon scores. And then Dante Moore throws a pick on the two point conversion. The second ot and they almost. Penn State almost runs it back. And then Aller throws a pick. So those are the two turnovers in the game. Very few penalties, very clean game, back and forth. But it was, it was, it was interesting to watch. Oregon was physical. Penn State was physical. But the crucial moment, the crucial plays. Penn State receivers, we got to give them credit. The Penn State receivers stepped up. They made some plays late in that football game when they absolutely had to have it, man. Like, they're down 14. Penn State's down 14. They got, they had no. It was, it was over, it looked like. And devonte Ross got cooking, made some plays. They got him the ball in the passing game. They handed it to him, made a play in the touch. Then you saw Pena on the sweep. Like Penn State's offense got it together, got the score tied, got. Got it to OT when it looked like it was. Was over. But what does this say about Oregon? Man, I think it. Yeah. Duck still on the conference. You're right. Like, that's exactly right. The Ducks walk in with, with all their new parts and Dante Moore, like, when you watch the dude, he's cool as it gets. He's not rattled. And third and short. Like, they used him in the QB draw game a ton. Fourth and short. They used him in the QB draw game. His ability to scramble, keep his eyes down the field, roll, make plays, speed. By the way, Hill at running back for Oklahoma or for Oregon, he's going to be a problem. That dude's. That dude's a freshman. Like, he's going to be a. A bad mother. Shut your mouth. Like, but, but Moore was so good, so calm. You know, the big moments, definitely not too big for him. And that was. If I'm a Ducks fan, I'm like, yep, Dan. Or shoot. Dan Lanning just does it again. That's what he does. But unfazed by the moment. In a big. In a bad atmosphere. Big stadium had some opportunities early. I thought the third, fourth and inches on the. One of their first drives. Then they fall start because the crowd noise backed up. They don't get any points. 0 points in the first quarter. Like, slow, slow game. We got some Bama in the chat. A lot of Bama in the chat. A lot of Bama. People really excited. You should be excited. That's an Absolutely. Good. Good win for you guys. Aller though, biggest takeaway has to continue to, to improve, has to continue to make plays down the field. A lot of guys in the box against the Penn State run game. They got to find a way to get some guys out. Last year was Tyler Warren, like he could win. They could use him. I don't know how they're doing it because they're not winning a lot out wide. And so there is so many people and Allers legs are going to have to continue to be a huge part. I mean, it's just, it's going to have to be if that's the offense that you're going to continue to run. But Penn State fans, you know, it's not the end of the season like this is a close loss. Ohio State lost to Oregon during the regular season last year, very much still in it, and then won a national championship. So it's not goodbye. But the offense is going to have to get better, it's going to have to grow if they're going to have. If they're going to get anything done. Nationwide is so much more than a great insurance company. We talked about LSU earlier and LSU Ole Miss. You know, Nuss Meyer is a really good quarterback. Trinidad. Trinidad Chambliss is better. Like, think about that. Just think about that. Like, that's. That's weird to say. It doesn't make sense to say out loud. But Ole Miss, they. They found their guy at the qb, and it's his, it's his slipperiness, it's his quickness, it's the ball getting out of his hands really, really quickly. He throws the ball over the middle at a really good rate. Man, he didn't. He threw the one pick, which I didn't think it was that bad of a throw. It was a, it was a contested play. But he'd been throwing that since the second quarter like that. That's something that he's been throwing. Like when he found one on one coverage on the outside, he threw the football up to his guys, drew a bunch of PIs. But. But Ole misses offense. Trinidad goes for right at 300, rushes for another almost 70. He's. He's had a couple 300, 100 games already. Name me a better player in the country. Like, name me a guy that's had better moments so far since he's been in there. This is a huge moment against. We, we. We all say it. Like, everybody, every analyst you have heard from says LSU's defense is one of the best in the country. Right? Everyone. And so they're aggressive. Bullets are flying. He's calm, he's chill, he's collected. So Ole Miss should climb up the rankings and Ole Miss should be very much near where LSU was if you thought LSU was that good. Like, and how about the way Ole Miss ended the football game? First? Their defense is the Achilles heel. Their defense is what everybody talks about. It's not good enough. Their defense, their defense is terrible. Arkansas had a lot of success, don't get me wrong. But, but against Tulane, they played pretty good. And then today against lsu, I mean, especially late in the game when they got a lead, man, they went to high safeties, three high safeties, and they said, LSU make plays, like, make plays if you're going to make plays on us. They rushed the passer with three down. They got, they got, they got home. They, they, they affected Nussmeier and you know, Nussmeier in this offense, too. It's, it's, it's strange to see, but Ole Miss, his offense was, was so much better. I mean, so much better. They were. When you, when you put, when you put it together and you looked at it like, I think Ole Miss's offense was close to 500 yards. What was it? It was, let's look it up real quick. It was close to, I mean, ole miss had 14 penalties. They had 480 yards, and then they had, you know, obviously the penalties that cost them. But LSU had 254 total yards. Like, that's crazy. I mean, LSU's definitely got to be better when it comes to the offensive side of the football. There's too much talent. Like, I know the offensive line isn't great. They quit trying to run the football altogether. And I think that has to. I have LSU fans in my life. I know y' all have some LSU fans in your life. My pastor's an LSU fan, but I know some other guys, too, and they complain about Brian Kelly a lot. Like, not happy with Brian Kelly. Brian Kelly. Lane Kiffin immediately takes Brian Kelly's quote from this week and slaps it on social media, because that is Lane and that is fantastic. I love the trolling, but they use the bulletin board material, and Ole Miss came up big. But if you're, if you're looking at big games so far, and you looked at there, those were the three biggest games of the day. But, like, Georgia can't get the monkey off their back with Alabama. Penn State can't win in big games. Those are, those are huge takeaways that you're going to continue to, to talk about. We've got to talk about that from, from here, that point on, because that's a, that's a big part of what's going on in college football so far. So next. Where do we want to go next? There was so many good, good games, but I think I learned that. You know, one thing that I learned today, I learned that Ohio State has the best defense in the country. And that's, that's bold. But that's, I mean literally. We talked about Washington's offense and being able to run the football with, with Coleman, with Williams, and you saw it, man. Washington got off to a good start. That place was rocking. We told you that place is the nation's second longest winning streak for a reason. Nation's second long winning streak went down at home. Winning streak, nation's first longest winning streak. Home down with Georgia. So both of those teams, you know, losing today. But, but Ohio State, what stuck out to me is their, is their defense being the best in the country. But just the way they get their, their QBs comfortable, the way they coach the, the QB position, the way they coach offense. I thought Bama did a really good job with it too, but like rolling their quarterback more than they have, you know, coming out in the second half, it was a lot of first down throws from Julian saying like they, they absolutely got him because Washington was loading up. They. They wanted to ease him into the football game. I get it. And it was some mistakes early that, that helped Washington really, you know, be in this game longer than they, than they should have. But you know, because, because Ohio State goes down the field, they get inside the five on the first drive, they get a turnover on downs, credit to Washington, Washington gets stopped, they punt. Ohio State fumbles the football. So on their side of the field. So that's two, you know, kind of mistakes early and obviously to be able to, to calm your quarterback down and to, to be in that moment to forget the ball out quick. Ohio State got the ball out of their hands quick. They ran the little shallow screen to, to Jeremiah Smith for a touchdown when they saw zero coverage, like rolled the pocket. They just do such a really good job of developing their quarterback and Julian saying continues to be really, really good things, getting out of his hands and you know, 15 of 17 with the ball with 2.5 seconds or less for two touchdowns, which means he catch it, he throw it fast, he gets it to his guys, his guys do some damage and especially had to do that like in that atmosphere. I don't think, I don't think Washington's going anywhere. I still think Washington's going to be a good football team with, with Williams running it now. The difference in the football game was very simple. You know, Williams and the offense move the football for Washington. They possessed the football, dude. They had it for 11 of 15 minutes in the first quarter. Like Washington did the, they forced turnovers and did the game plan just like they needed to the. One of the. One of the best attributes of Washington to this point. Sixteen trips in the red zone, 15 touchdowns, one field goal. Two straight trips in the red zone to start the football game. Guess what happens? They get six points. And that's a credit to Ohio State's defense. And I wonder if you want to at me for the field goal. I mean, the fake or the fake fake field goal. Was it that good? It wasn't organized. Like, I didn't love it for Washington. I thought Washington had a lot of momentum. Up three nothing. They run that fake field goal. Apparently they didn't know it was a fake field goal because you could tell they were blocking. One guy was running to throw it. Missed opportunity to maybe get some points. Um, but Washington, I still think is. Is going to be a good team. I just didn't. I didn't. Like, there was a roughing the passer call to. My God, let's put quarterbacks in bubble wrap, for God's sakes. Like, what the freak are we doing? Like, we might as well put them in bubble wrap and never touch them again. I mean, it's just. It's absolutely nuts. All right, well, that's enough. But Washington, yeah, they were doing really good in the red zone after this game. Ohio State coming up big in the big moments when they needed to beating a really, really good football team. All right, A and M in Auburn. This was boring. Like, you got to say that like this, this was a. Like A and M came out the gates. Four plays, 60 plus yards. It was like seven. Nothing like, oh, okay. Offense looked really, really good. And then from that point on, it was really. It was sluggish, man. And they had a chance, you know, they had a chance to step on Auburn and really end it. Like, they had a chance to. To end this game when it was. Shoot, it was like it was 13 to 3 in the fourth quarter. A and M driving down the field, and then they throw the pick and it gets returned and it almost gets returned for a touchdown. Auburn scores. And it's like, holy cow. Like, this is a football game. Now. A and M missed a bunch of field goals, which. Which is not good. But if I'm an A and M fan, I'm excited because the defense play great. Like, the defense has not played, you know, good this season so far. So to see them step up and play good, use the home crowd. Now, did they play good or is Auburn ungood on offense? Like, I'm going to lean. Auburn's a struggle bus on offense. Like, it's tough to watch, man, because. Because if I'm them and I'm going to do this sack, sackaholic game and I'm going to hold on to the football so long, like at some point, man, I just need to make this the more RPO ish, more qb, run ish, more high school with that. Because you can do that with, with your boy. I mean, he can, he can handle that. Like, he's tough as nails. Jackson Arnold is not going to, I don't think he's going to tire out. I think he does a really good job running the football. But Auburn's defense continues to make plays and it's, it's, it's got to be frustrating being DJ Durkin. It's got to be frustrating being an Auburn fan because your defense is good enough to keep you in another game against another team, that's really good. But the false starts, the penalties, the sacks, the three and outs, like, it's ungood. It's very ungood. Just it's not, it's not good enough. It needs, it needs work for sure. It needs to continue to, to get better. And they got to figure that out. And that's what Hugh Freeze is there for. Like, that's what, that's what his calling card is, his offense. And I'm going to just keep pushing that. Auburn, Auburn should have, should have, should have got it rolling and their offense has got to get better, man. And if you're an Auburn fan, I'm sorry. Because you've played good enough to win, you know, two games on the road or. Yeah, two games on the road. One of. One of the two you should have won. And I'm done with the officials. We're not going to talk about that anymore. Even though the officials across the country, we got a problem. Like, there's going to be more suspensions probably coming out this week. Labo50 why am I hating on Oregon? Who's hating on Oregon? We're not hating on Oregon. We're telling the truth around here. Pittman should be fired. We will get to that in a minute. Indiana, Iowa. This was a really good football game. This was probably one of the more surprising games. Like, if you really watch this game, it was good. And if you are an Iowa fan, you're like, we just can't have nice things. That's it. Like, you're an Iowa fan. You're like, we did it again. Like, it's, it's got to be frustrating, man. I. You come out first. Passes intercepted. But then Gronkowski Gronowski. Excuse me. Gronowski really dialed it in, man. And they trusted him like crazy to throw the football. He. He started two of four and then the next thing you know, bro, he's. He's lighting it up. He was tearing it up down the field and making plays, and the offense was looking really, really good. And then all of a sudden he gets dinged up and he gets hurt. And that was the difference in the game. Probably Granowski, you know, kind of hyperextends his knee. And because he does, the offense is absolutely done. But the other side. Mendoza got all the hype. Indiana got all the hype because they. That belt to bottom from. Or for Indiana did for the belt to bottom from what they did to. To last week to. To Illinois. But. But what I'll say is I think that Illinois or Indiana had a tough time. They struggled a little bit today. Mendoza got hit. I thought I would. Had a ridiculously good game plan. When do you see Iowa blitz like crazy. Like, they're usually extremely conservative. They're usually, you know, dropping back, playing zone. They mixed it up. Mendoza was under pressure a lot. He made some plays and he got whacked a bunch like. But that's a big, strong dude. That's one of the things we've talked about with this offense. That's different, man. Mendoza can run the football, and if they need to run it with him 10 to 15 times today, he had to, man. He had to scramble. He got hit throwing ball. He threw a ball in the seam on third down late in that game, like to surrat that. It was like 11 minutes left and that dude put his body on the lot like just straight getting destroyed right in the grill, right up the seam. Came up big in. In some big moments through his first pick of the game. I thought Iowa was going to. I thought I was going to win. Like, I thought they were going to take care of business because they were. They were good. Like, they were really. They tackled well in space, which was one of the biggest things we talked about. Like the receivers out wide, like, that's something that's going to happen, you know, a good bit. But, you know, it's interesting to watch the. He was pressured on 12 drop backs and he was 2 for 6 on those for 45 yards. Got sacked twice. Four scrambles. They brought five or more on 17 drop backs. I would like that's. That's not Iowa. Like, when you watch Iowa, they drop back and they play conservative and they gave up a touchdown with it. But they also forced the pick with it. But I think if you're an Indiana fan, like survive in advance didn't play great, played a tough team that's got a mauling group up front on the offensive line that can be tough to play and you took care of business and that's all that really matters. Like it doesn't matter. It's not going to matter how in the end, like that. All that matters is that you got that. You got the win. So good, good surviving advance for Indiana, Tennessee, Mississippi State. Okay, here, here's, here's my thing with Mississippi State.

I think Mississippi State's one of the most improved teams in the country. Like they have to be right? Like they, they literally are proven themselves week after week now that they're not a fluke. And Tennessee, you got to go on the road, you got to make plays, you got to win. Tennessee's been great at home, minus Georgia on the road. They've really struggled and this was an opportunity to fold the tent. But because Joey Aguilar throws two interceptions which two of them bounced off his tight end like it wasn't, like it was the Joey Aguilar from App State when the ball was, was awful and it was, you know, thrown really, really bad. So I, I do think that it was, it was decent throws. But they, they were picks. But UT gave Mississippi State three turnovers, basically 24, a 20 yard drive, a 26 yard drive and a 27 yard drive. So they gave him the ball on their side of the field three times and Mississippi State immediately turned that into 21 points. And so it, you could have lost this game. You could argue that in the past they might have lost this game. But what happened? Their defense came up huge, man. Their defense came up big for them because their offense put them in a bind. They gave up 21, but their defense scored 14. Like that's big time scoop and score for Joseph's which was big time. And Hood had the int. The pick six. So like for Tennessee, big time making plays in the clutch and then an ot. It was like a reverse Georgia game. You have the long run and then you get to stop. So. And you get out of there with a win. So I bet Tennessee fans, your cowbells ringing in your ears and you're still hearing that, but you got the dub, and that's all that really matters. Next game, usc, Illinois. This was a. This was a weird game. This was a kind of a crazy game real quick. Louisville, a sleeper in the acc. They were asleep for most of the game today and somehow find a way to win. They got down 17, caught some serious breaks in the special teams, but Louisville is still reigning supreme and undefeated usc. Man, I think that USC had the early morning. The early morning kick, and they came out sluggish. And if we're going to be honest, I want to say this. Out the jump, USC was down their left tackle. They're down their best safety. They were down their best receiver, like Jacoby Lane. Jacoby Lane was playing a little bit like in spot duty. But. But Illinois, after the thumping last week, what are they going to do? Offensive line got beat up in Duke, got beat up in Indiana. Signetti took shots. How do they respond? Like, it was a businesslike response. It was a put the suit and tie on. Like, you got to give them some. Some serious credit. First possession, force USC into a fumble, go down the field and score. And I think the most interesting part about Illinois was they really found the run game for the first time this season. And I think it's. And it started all right up the middle. Everything was up the middle, up the middle, up the middle. And I think that was the. I think that's the weakness of usc. So that's where they wanted to attack them, but it was straight up the middle. It was. It was breaking tackles, it was running hard. It's really. It's really interesting to watch, to watch them in the red zone because they're super creative, and I absolutely love that about Indiana. They bring in the quarterback, run they, they Philly special. Like, Beatty's gonna throw a touchdown. He's gonna catch a touchdown. Like, he'll, he'll run it in. He's kind of done it from all the different ways. But usc, I really want to ask Brent that. This question, because, Brent, can I ask you a question?
College Football Analyst 2
Always. Okay, you can always ask me a question. I'm always listening.
College Football Analyst 1
Okay, So I can't stand. I don't understand analytics. So I want you to explain this to me. Like, you score and you're. And you're. Usc. You make a Big play. And it's, it's going to be 17 to 24. Like it's going to be a seven point game late in that game. But you go for two.
College Football Analyst 2
That's the smartest thing in the world to do. It was beautiful. Why it was so amazing.
College Football Analyst 1
Why?
College Football Analyst 2
Because they now have a director of analytics. His name is Connor McQuiston. So, like, you want to win the game. What's the, what's the purpose of playing the game? Is the purpose to get to overtime or to win the game and regulation?
College Football Analyst 1
Okay, so that question is, then why don't you just go for two every time you're tied?
College Football Analyst 2
So that's not necessarily so. All, all of analytics. I want to win the game is about information. It's about information. So you have to, if you're wanting to win the game in regulation, you go for two there because now you have the information that, you know, you need the two point conversion later if you get it, which it's a, you know, depending upon the numbers that you look at, it's, you know, 45 to 50 probability. There's, you get it now, you just kick an extra point and win the game. Which is what they would have done.
College Football Analyst 1
Yeah.
College Football Analyst 2
Had they not taken the end zone.
College Football Analyst 1
Shot with two minutes left as soon.
College Football Analyst 2
As they got close. This dumbest thing ever. Like, take your time. You should have scored with, you know. Now granted, you don't have to score.
College Football Analyst 1
You have to, you have to score. But you were moving the ball well. But at least like for, I think.
College Football Analyst 2
Illinois was out of, out of, or only had maybe one timeout. You have to run the ball the first play there.
College Football Analyst 1
They had several, I think they had all three of their timeouts still. But, but, but you're absolutely, yeah, but, but you're absolutely right. Like, and listen, I, I think I could have thrown it to Lemon anytime I wanted to. Like that was open. Like, that was always open. He, he was ridiculous.
College Football Analyst 2
You're going to see more of that. You're gonna. When, when team score, they're down. If they're down 14.
College Football Analyst 1
I don't want my team.
College Football Analyst 2
You should.
College Football Analyst 1
I don't want my team to do it. I, I, I'd rather kick the field goal and then kick the field goal and go into ot. I just don't, I don't love it. I don't love it at all.
College Football Analyst 2
But it's the best thing to do. You're going to see it more and more. It's, especially if you have a team that has individual offensive players that are really Good that you can just know you can go to. And your probability of getting two point play is up up there now. So.
College Football Analyst 1
Yeah.
College Football Analyst 2
Do you see either those teams being a playoff team?
College Football Analyst 1
No, I don't because. Because with with usc then listen again, the injuries were all over the place. Corner, they were banged up. Like I said. Safety didn't even dress. Receiver banged up. I think that like their center got banged up in the second quarter as well. Like it was just so much that there was too many injuries for USC to, to overcome. I think both of them are good teams. I think both of them could beat other really good teams. I don't think consistently, I don't think defensively USC is good enough. I don't like, I don't think they're good enough in the middle or at corner to stop passing attacks. So I don't think they're a playoff team. But I do think my Ava is fun to watch and his temperament, his chill. I think that Lane, I think Lincoln, I think Lincoln is an elite coach and they develop and I love the way they run the football too, man. I think they run the football well too. But I think the fumble and the pick, they cost themselves by shooting themselves in the foot. But the fact that they were even.
College Football Analyst 2
In that game, how it started with the injuries and just not dressing up, the fact that they played the latest game of the schedule the previous week and then go have to play that game at noon, you know, so your preparation is basically cut a day compared to in rest and all the stuff that goes with that. And they still kind of should have won the game. I mean Illinois had the.
College Football Analyst 1
Here's where, here's where, here's where. I'll slightly disagree. Illinois fumbled on the one yard line going into score twice. Like those were, those were the punch. Do you want to hold this gift? Do you want this gift? Like, like Illinois clearly was the better team. Illinois should have won the game. They should, they shouldn't have. It shouldn't have taken that much. But the mistakes for them inside the five yard line offensively is what ended up killing them.
College Football Analyst 2
But the punch was awesome. The second, I think it was the second fumble. Did you think the other one was a fumble?
College Football Analyst 1
I didn't know. So I. Whatever it was called on the field, I think you had to stick with. Now the overturning in the Ducks game was crazy too. Like you're telling me that blade of grass, like a blade of grass, that was bananas. Like that, that was nuts to me. Like that was literally like, okay, you're saying that I scraped the blade of grass. Like, I didn't, I didn't understand that. Like, again, I, I could point to a lot of refs. Refs are terrible this season. Like, I, I don't know what else to say. Like, we're missing, we're missing things left and right, and it's driving me absolutely crazy. But. All right, stay on schedule, Stay on schedule, stay on schedule, stay on schedule, stay on schedule. All right. So we can, we want to touch all these games. We want to make sure we talk to you guys and, and, and talk to them all. All right. Georgia Tech, Wake Forest. This is one that was different. This is one that Georgia Tech was exceptionally lucky. Speaking of refs, like, if you're watching this game and Georgia Tech, good for you. You did what you're supposed, all you're supposed to do is go win the game. That's all that matters. It doesn't matter how you get there. And credit to you for doing what it matters. The all sides. Robbie Ashford, by the way, who knew Robbie Ashford that, that played for Wake Forest? The guy that played for Auburn, the guy that played for South Carolina, like, he's been, he's been all over the place. I think it's his sixth year. He was playing for Wake and he was balling out of his mind, man. Like running the football, throwing the football, making big plays. They're up 20 to three. Ball game over. You think Robbie Ashford gets hurt? Doesn't play. They bring in their backup, the offense stalls out like a mug. It goes to heck and a absolute hand basket like it is atrocious and they can't do anything. And Tech slowly chips away. Haynes, King does his job, 100% does his job, but Robbie Ashford then toughs it in, comes in with a knee brace, fights it out. But. But it's a three point game with less than two minutes. No, right, right about two minutes in the game. And wake force can run the clock out if they get a first down. They run a hard count, they snap their hands, their cornerback comes off the edge. And then what happens? He jumps off in the neutral zone. He's in the neutral zone. They snap the football. And the ref doesn't call it. Like, it was clear as day, man. Like he was absolutely in the neutral zone. It was a big time miss, man. And listen, nobody's going to care because Wake Forest doesn't have a bunch of fans that are going to riot and people aren't going to pay attention to it. But Auburn, you were pissed off last week. This is, this Wake Forest have every reason to be pissed off this week. But how about Georgia Tech operating in the two minute under clutch and how about their kicker? Like, kudos, man. Like I got to give you credit, man. Like I don't give kickers credit, but you deserve credit because kicking game winning field goals apparently with the clock ticking down, tying things up, apparently you can just do that. Apparently you're, you're kind of a big deal. But Georgia Tech still undefeated, highest ranking they've had in a while, man, to start a season. They're only going to move up. Pretty impressive to watch them take care of business. A lot had to go their way after getting down 20 to three. But they come back, they tie it up, they win it in overtime and Wake Forest goes for the two point conversion, tries to get the win. I'm okay with that. Like your running backs banged up, your quarterbacks, you know, banged up, limping around on the knee brace. If you can do it for one play and, and end it then, then so be it. Not so good news. Not so good. Things to talk about. I'm sorry. Like pig suey. Not so good to talk about. Notre Dame, you're excited. Here's the good news about this Notre Dame recap. This is going to be really quick because we only need to talk about this. How about this? 42 points, 420 yards of offense, car 16 of 22 for 292, four touchdowns. Jeremiah Love, four touchdowns. That was the first half. That was the first half. Like legitimately, that was the first half. And as after that, after they scored 56 a week ago, Leonard Moore, their best player, their best corner, didn't even play for Notre Dame. And as you're walking off the field, Arkansas is getting booed absolutely out of the stadium. And I feel bad for Sam Pittman because he's one of the really good dudes in the sport, but it was, it was a bad look. Taylor Green comes in, he leads the nation in total yards. And it's just mistake after mistake for Arkansas. And they can, like they're, they kind of reminded me of Auburn last year. Like they'll find a way, like they'll, they'll find a way to mess it up with a, with drops, with penalties, with fumbles. And that's probably why everybody was pissed off with the, with the Arkansas fans, because it was, it was, it wasn't pretty, man. It was not pretty at all. And it's, it's got to change. I don't know what's going to change. Is. Is. Is something going to change there? Probably when you start getting that reaction right, when you get the boobirds out and everybody's upset, you're probably going to start to lean towards, towards change. At Arkansas, even though Sam Pittman's been in a bunch of games, it seems like they've been in a. But not today. They were not. But like they've been in a bunch of close games but not have found a way to win, you know, and that's. That's been their biggest problem. All right, so Friday night kind of kicked it off and you kind of Forget another top 10 team that goes down is Florida State. Because Friday night weird things happen. Saturday night weird things happen to apparently Saturday days, because we've seen that throughout the season. But they came out, Florida State came out and if you missed it, man, they got down quick. They got down 14, turned the football over a couple of times, you know, made a bunch of. Made mistakes early. And when you make mistakes early, you give Virginia life. And then Virginia did what they were supposed to do. Chandler Morris was running. Chandler Morris was throwing. He was making mistakes. But because FSU made mistakes, you let them back in the game. So FSU kept Virginia in the game, like, because they went on that 21 oh run to get back in it and take the lead. But FSU just continued to, to make their own mistakes. They, they outgained them. But the problem was, was the turnovers in Virginia. To their credit, man, this is, this is their first top 10 win since 2005. They did it on their home field and they put drives together. If you missed it, like it was 12 play drive, 16 play drive, 15 play drive like. And then I think the, one of the two of the things that happened late in that game was the review. Like, you got to see it live and in person. Like all the workings of it. You got to see the, the catch that could have possibly tied the game for Florida State, that all he had to do was squeeze it. Like when he squeezed it, he tried to, to really possess it. All he had to do was just keep it squeezed really weird in his hands. And if he'd have kept it like that and just went out of bounds with that pose, literally the ball game, you know, he scores a touchdown for fsu. But, but I think it magnified, you know, something about fsu, like their throw game with Tommy in the pocket, like it's not elite and if you can take away their run game, which, listen, Virginia didn't, but, but they forced him into turnovers. But if you can get Florida State to somehow play behind or have to make plays in the passing game, that's definitely their Achilles heel. What do they have next? They got Miami. I find it really hard to believe that they're going to be able to run against Miami with those fricking ace kicking. Jesse's in the, in the box. Like those dudes are out for blood. They get in the backfield, they got a bunch of guys they can chase. Tommy, but, but Tommy's made a bunch of plays too. So big time loss for Florida State. They play Miami next week and obviously that will be a big one. The chat keeps, keeps, keeps humming. I like to see the chat rolling. I like, I like all the comments. Yeah, I thought about, let's see the, the Kirby comments. What's wish. What's wish? Casting is so cute. What does that mean, Wes? What does that mean? You know what that means? No. Anybody? I don't even know what that means, so. Wish I wish I could even know what that means, but I don't. Miami hasn't played a road game yet. Yep, Miami doesn't leave like their state ever this whole season. Like Missouri, Miami. Look at their schedules, man. It's about as good as it gets. But Miami and Florida State will be a huge showdown like just like old times. It'll be a big time showdown. All right, last one we got for you, tcu, Arizona State. You know what we like to say in the South? We like to say thank you Jesus. And that's what Arizona likes to say. Like their kicker coming up big in a big time moment. Again, not the first time. Now he did miss Mr. Mr. Gomez missed a couple of field goals today. Like that was not the good, the great part, but when he needed to, he hit a 23 yard field goal late in the game to get Arizona State the win. It was a back and forth game. They got down 17 to nothing. Arizona State's got a, got a beginning of the game problem too. Like they, they're not starting fast at all. Like they, they continue to kind of come out lackadaisical, let people get ahead. And TCU did the exact same thing that others have done. Put up some points really, really quickly. And then Arizona State found some explosive plays. Levitt played pretty good. They ran the football well big time late in the game. 4th and inches. They had to have it to tie the football game. Arizona State does that. They get the fourth down short, they score. And then probably one of the plays of the weekend. A minute 46 left. Hoover drops back the pass for TCU. Arizona State sacks him. As he sacks him, he takes the football away from him. So the strip sack, which sets up the late game field goal. And in. Arizona State gets the dub. So they. They found a way. Found a way to win, and that's. That's all that matters. But, like, I think more than ever, like, this is a season where you just got to win. I just don't think. I. I don't. I think we're going to critique you because that's what we do. But you've got to find ways to get dubs and especially to stay up in the. Obviously in the Big 12 with Texas Tech and Co. Because Arizona State needs to. To stay high. But I think when you're talking about for the playoffs, everybody, it's really just about, you know, staying. Staying in the moment, winning some games. And as long as you win some games, you know, towards the end, as long as you're in that playoff hunt, that's what matters. But. All right, that was a lot of talking. Brett Rollins, what else you got, brother? What's some. What's some numbers you got for us from stuff that happened or takeaways or. You're an idiot. You missed this. You needed to say this. You know, the chat is humming. If you want to take some shots of the people in the chat, because that was fantastic. A lot of Drew Aller fans in the chat.
College Football Analyst 2
Well, I was just going to ask. Am I still justified in being a Penn State hater since I was a certified hater?
College Football Analyst 1
Yes, you're still justified being a Penn State hater.
College Football Analyst 2
All right, so one thing I think you have to stop. Like, I know you've used this comment throughout this preseason. Well, you got to stop calling them the best OCDC combo. Yeah, you can't say that anymore.
College Football Analyst 1
Yeah.
College Football Analyst 2
Because they're just not productive. That was. It's just you're not. Whatever it is you want to call it, it's not getting it done offensively against the better teams. Even against. And this year, even against the not so good teams.
College Football Analyst 1
The passing game is. It just. It's. Listen, Tyler, Ty Warren, maybe it was that big of a deal. Like, he was just. Obviously, he was an animal. And you see him on Sundays. He's doing okay for the Colts, but they.
College Football Analyst 2
Well, there's an element of. That lacks a. It lacks a pro passing element to it. It still looks a lot like Gus Malzon's offense looks, except for quarterback.
College Football Analyst 1
That's not. Not explosive now that. I think that's why they they invert everything. I think that's why they always have the fast guys going outside and Al are going inside, obviously, because they don't want him to run outside. But. But yeah, man, I mean, I will credit the crap out of them for, for putting it together late, but.
College Football Analyst 2
Oh, yeah. And they had to.
College Football Analyst 1
They.
College Football Analyst 2
And I think that kind of. For. They forced them. Oregon forced them to. They made the plays in the end. Yeah, you made the plays there towards the end. But in the very end, Oregon is there. And I think Oregon and Ohio State and probably Miami are the three teams you can put in Penn or Sharpie in the playoff right now because Penn State. I'm not. I'm not putting that in pen with the schedule. They gotta go. They gotta go to Iowa. Yeah, they got to go to Ohio State. They get Indiana at home. Those are teams that could potentially outscore them.
College Football Analyst 1
Yeah, they're. They're deep.
College Football Analyst 2
And I was, I was always going to be tough. Indiana.
College Football Analyst 1
I think Penn State's defense will keep them in every single game. I don't think anybody's going to run him out of the building because of that. But. But no, I mean this, this. You got to be so frustrated. If you're a Penn State fan. Watching, watching those first three quarters, you're like, what the heck is going on? And then the start of the fourth, like, I just. It's not, it's not getting better. And you. And you think it's going to be some. And here's the thing. I know Colton Ecky's creative. I don't know that Aller. I don't know that he's going to stick his foot in the ground and throw the ball with timing. I just don't know. I don't know that he can do it. I. I just. It's crazy. So.
College Football Analyst 2
And the, the other side of that, Oregon had all the best players. They were flying around the field, more physical for most of the game. Both Moore's, Dante Moore Decorium or the freshman receiver, the Hill kid that you mentioned earlier is a lightning bolt.
College Football Analyst 1
Sadiq is a freak show.
College Football Analyst 2
Like Mateo is Manteo UI on Google, you know, not. It's not. Mateo should be Manteo because he's a man child. He's a man child. But they just. They were just better and they went on the road and took care of business just like Kaylin DeBoer did. And for two straight years they have out coached Georgia. Because Kirk even mentioned or. No, it was Orlovsky. I heard Orlovsky at the, At Halftime, it's like Bama knows what George is doing. Exactly. Is what Orlowski said at halftime.
College Football Analyst 1
All the checks to the, the check to the blitz is like tie. There's very. Listen, you should be able to see. Offenses should be able to see what defenses are doing and you should be able to understand most of the time how to pick up blitzes. But like, there was very few free runners and Ty Simpson, he just deserves a lot of credit to like, Ty Simpson's good, man. He's really good. He's got some good weapons and they're fricking creative. Like, they are really creative offensively. Ryan Williams is still dropping passes. Ryan Williams still chooses whether he wants to block or not, which is not good. Like, it's, it's, it's frustrating to watch because the dude's got so much fricking talent. Like, he's so much talent, man. Like, but catching the ball still against his body. But yeah, Indiana, Indiana though was a surprise today. Indiana and their speed, that, that usually wins out. Like the physicality of Iowa winning out. Like, I think Penn State can do that to Indiana. Penn State absolutely has the horses to do that. But yeah, if it won't matter that much with, with, with Oregon unless they're going to continue to block better up front.
College Football Analyst 2
So the biggest thing I saw from the UGA side of things, they didn't look under control. And I, I even say that from a top down perspective because late in the game when you're down three and you want to go tempo on fourth and one and Cash Jones is your running back, guess what? That's not a great decision.
College Football Analyst 1
It's just not, not a great decision.
College Football Analyst 2
Not in the short yardage when you've got.
College Football Analyst 1
Well, like, especially because you've played so good. Like their defense, their defense really did do a good job. But, but like, see that's the interesting thing because we can always do different things on different sides. Like you would also say that about Alabama. Like you're taking three timeouts in the first half because you can't get your crap together. Like, you're letting the play clock run down. But, but, and if you want to know what decided the game, like, what decided the game, like, if you go back and you say that halftime, like, how do you let that happen? Like, okay, Alabama put drives together. If you want to put drives together in the first half, Alabama did that. They put drives together, two 14 play drives. They were great. They were, they were perfect, by the way. They were perfect on third downs. They were making good Throws, making good plays. Georgia did a good job of adjusting, but they went 75 yards on eight plays in a buck 34 with no timeouts. Georgia called timeouts. Georgia let them get a little bit creative again. Rushing the passer was a little bit of an issue and continue. Going to continue to be an issue. But I actually thought the run game, stopping the run game, Georgia was really, really good. I thought Alabama was really good, being creative.
College Football Analyst 2
Like, I think that's actually why Georgia got back in the game.
College Football Analyst 1
They stopped to run.
College Football Analyst 2
No, they said run it. Like, they stopped. They stopped bringing blitzes. They stopped. They just said, all right, we're gonna rush three, maybe four, and we're just gonna cover you.
College Football Analyst 1
And if we get home, Georgia ran the football like that was. That was vintage Georgia that won championships. And if that Georgia shows up consistently like, and moves people off the ball like that, that's gonna be a problem for everybody. Cause the backs can go like, the backs can absolutely go.
College Football Analyst 2
So to recap for both teams, like.
College Football Analyst 1
You'Re not out the right.
College Football Analyst 2
What? No. And you got two true freshmen that are starting on the right side of your line. You're going to get better in that side of it. Alabama just needs to find diversity in their running game to complement the passing game.
College Football Analyst 1
They don't even have a run game. They didn't need it. They just go spread. They just throw it. They didn't. They didn't need it. They were like, you know what? And I do think that's one thing they'll have to do. But to recap, Georgia loses to Alabama again. Penn State loses. A top matchup. A top five again. Again. Again. Which. Which need those. Those are two things in college football that going forward. Like, those are like, the big time game is one thing. Kirby and company can win big games. They just can't beat Alabama. It continues to be an issue. Like, and it wasn't at home. It wasn't at home. Now they're at home. They were at home.
College Football Analyst 2
And Lane Kitchen wins again.
College Football Analyst 1
And Lane Kiffin does what Lane does. And I just. That might be the story in college football. Trinidad.
College Football Analyst 2
Trinidad already bench two of his losses.
College Football Analyst 1
He's. Trinidad might be the story. Like, he might be the. He might be the biggest story in college football. We might be doing like a 30 for 30 on him at some point. I know somebody doing game day snippets on him and what he is and where he came from, because he's. He's incredible. Like just the ability, the ability to better than Nussmeier.
College Football Analyst 2
From the pocket. That was the most shocking.
College Football Analyst 1
But the interesting thing about him is he's so short, like, he's not tall. And so he gives me challenged. He gives me. Don't say that, Brent. Right. He gives me Kyler Murray vibes because he's got a little bit of that. Like he's got the laser and he's got the quick feet to go. But. But he. And he gets some balls batted down. But they do a really good job in their offense, spreading you out and creating enough passing lanes. And in the middle, they're, they're protecting better. Early in the season, they really struggled, you know, with pressure up the middle. Pressure up the middle. Trinidad comes in and now his ability to run and make you have to spy, like in the running. Lacy all of a sudden goes through the roof. So Ole Miss, obviously, huge win and back again where they're going to be very much in the mix, which is what they want. So again, if you missed the, if you missed the whole day of college football, we got you.
