What up, dudes? Welcome in to SE Ball. Get ball, man. It's the time of year we're in Georgia. I don't know where you're at and where you're listening. We appreciate y', all, but do that like rate subscribe thing too. We appreciate that as well. But it's starting to get hot in Georgia. Starting to get a little sticky. And definitely it's, it's that time of year where the fan is right there. My wife is like, you know, you can always turn the AC down in the basement, which is the studio. Right. 30 minutes before. But that would require me to pay for the air conditioning and then the ops. The point is I'm also not going to. I'm going to leave it on. I'm not going to. I'm not going to be able to turn it off. And remember, I'm not paying for all that. So we're just going to do the battery operated fan that we have. It's fantastic. But hope you guys are having a great shoot. We're getting to the midpoint of May. My baby girl turns 16. She's driving. Life is great over here. And then not so great for Sourcebee, though, like we've talked about him. There's not really new developments with the case, but now he's officially, officially suing back to the ncaa. He hired the smartest guy he could hire. I sat down with, actually with Jeffrey Kessler for the NIL documentary. He knows how to beat the ncaa. He's done it consistently. So firing the lawsuit now to try to request basically the courts to allow him to play in 2026 while the eligibility process plays out. I'm not going to say there's a zero percent chance of that happening. It's a non zero but like 1%. This is not good. It's not going to happen. I don't think you're going to see source be again. I think you'll see him in the supplemental draft. I hate it for the kid. You know, Cincinnati is still coming after him for $1 million for breach of contract. The clock is ticking obviously as we get closer and they're going to want him to get on the field. The interesting thing is what about Texas Tech and the money? Because the nil they have these clawback clauses and it's to protect. It's to protect the players or to protect the. The payer's investment. Right. Like the schools, the collectives to recoup their money if the athlete doesn't deliver. Now, I don't know what the print is, but I guarantee you there's a clause in there for off the field stuff that's going to happen. There's also a clause clauses in the contracts to discourage early transfers. Like clauses are designed, you know, to deter portal entries by making, you know, making it painful in financial areas and then enforce the conduct. Right. Performance and conduct standards. Are they tied up specific obligations. You know, it's pay for play technically still, but they can still fine you obviously for you not do holding up your end of the bargain. I think all of this matters this much. You know why? Because Cody Campbell could care less. I don't think they're going to come after him. When you come back after money from a player, it's a black eye for the school. Cody Campbell's literally going to look at that money and be like, wait a minute, did I misplace a $5 bill? That's what it's like to him. It's like that for us. Did we misplace a $20 bill? I think they'll leave it alone. I think absolutely nothing happens. All right, next we'll get to ACC dudes. Then we'll get to numbers. Brent's got some numbers for us. Then we're going to get to Billichek and then we're going to get to who won the weekend like we do. But you know, acc, you got something first, Brent.
Brent Rollins
All right, so Swsby.
David Pollock
Yeah.
Brent Rollins
Quick thing. Did you see some of the quotes and some from. From the legal documents and some of the things that he did.
David Pollock
Did you know that Brent actually like he does this stuff like by just for occupation is fun. He actually Is a. He can be a called as a witness. And he, he. I mean, you, you, you do all this stuff. You read it. Hundreds and hundreds of pages. I saw where he said. And this is the only thing I read, Brett, because I was out when he said to make it more fun to, to put some scraggiol on it. Basically, I'm like, on his team because
Brent Rollins
he wanted to feel connected.
David Pollock
And I get, I understand that, like, you don't feel like you're part of the team when you're not playing. I get that. But you're betting on your team. That is, it's the biggest. That's why Pete Rose denied it for so long. Right? Like, it's the biggest indictment there is. The NCAA will get their flesh because of that. You don't bet on your team. Like, if he was betting on somebody else, this might be a point. Like, you might have a case. This is a non case because of that.
Brent Rollins
And also I saw some other things that. Some things that he was betting on. Turkish basketball league, Nathan's hot dog eating contest. Very random. Tennis.
David Pollock
I'm not saying you have a problem. That's a lot of problems, but you got some problems. If we're betting on Turkish basketball and Nathan's hot dog eating contest, there's probably something source.
Brent Rollins
But yeah, if it is, that's still. But the fact that, like, you're, you're using this in your thing to say, hey, it's because I wanted to feel connected. Like, yeah, garbage. But hey, billable hours. Billable hours are always undefeated.
Wes Blankenship
Yes.
David Pollock
You all get paid, for sure. All right, we do this. We've already gone through the Big Ten. We've already gone through the sec. We're doing. We're getting you dudes. And I want to preface it. I'm going to preface it every single time we do this. I am not looking at Yahoo. I am not looking at espn. We are talking to coaches. So some of these are more in depth. And if your team is not as in depth as you'd like, it's because some of the coaches that I text, they weren't as in depth. Okay? Like, some of these coaches, man, they get in the weeds. And I'll tell you, some of them, like, will send back several. And I love that. Like, they're excited. I asked for one or two players that are going to surprise. Um, so some of them, again, you'll. You'll get more than others. We're going to start with Duke. I don't know why, but we're going to Start with Duke. It's not alphabetical or anything like that, but Nate Shepard, if you listen to this show, last year, Brent brought him up early in the season. He was a young cat finding his way. Started to be very, very productive. A really, really good player for them. Their run game was physical. Their run game was good. It wasn't just Mensa. He's there. That's not the guy because he's already, he's already come on the scene. The guy to me is Jeremiah Hazely and it's a tight end and kind of a cool story. Signed as a linebacker, transitioned a tight end in the end of the fall of 2023, got hurt, didn't play in 2024 and then last year, dude has almost five hundo, 40 catches and six touchdowns and is a big time red zone threat. But if you watch him and you see his gifts, the dude can block, can absolutely hold his own in the block against an end, he, he can move people, which is really, really good. He can hold that C gap basically and then he can make plays down the field and he's really, really athletic. Like you can move him. You can. He's very versatile. This dude with Nate Shepard I think is a great one, two punch, new qb, breaking him in. Obviously you don't have the greatness of Mensa. You have the greatness of him at tight end. I think he's going to be a baller. I think he's going to be their biggest weapon in this offense. He's going to be used a lot, all over the place and one of the best tight ends returning in all of college football. So, you know, I think Duke's got a really, really good tight end. You'll know his name and everybody who plays him, they're going to make sure he start on the schedule. Cow I got three guys for Cal. I'm going to give you one guy, the biggest guy to look for, but true freshman. And we keep hearing about this guy and I had to write his name out phonetically. Ty my Taima knee, Taimani Purcell, Taimany Purcell. And this guy, when you read quotes, remember Ron Rivera? Do you remember that name? Redskins coach, coached in the NFL for obviously the Carolina Panthers with Cam Newton and company was a very, very successful. He's the GM now for so he's obviously he's unbelievable. He is the he to have that kind of gravitas and that kind of guy at Cal. I think that has had an eye of seeing guys. I think it's very good for them. He said you look at him and you don't see a freshman like. And he said, praising his maturity, his physical presence and just readiness in the tight end room and stood out as a young performer they talked about. He doesn't look like a freshman. He carries 240 easily, easily plugged immediately into the two deep. You know, just, this is going to be a guy that they're going to count on at Cal. He's the, he's the, he's a guy to look for. He's one of them. Cooper Perry, Oregon transfer, wide receiver. He's got some serious juice. How about, how about another guy? This, this is why I think Cal is going to be really good. Not only do we have tosh lapoy on and talk about how good he is and how awesome he is and how much juice he has, but to have Ron Rivera and then his wide receiver coach making coaches, making comments about new wide receivers, I kill you. Remember that name, played in the NFL for a long time and they call him Coop when it comes to Cooper Perry. He said he can play inside and out. A lethal punt returner, can strike all over the field. Cerebral, great hands, shift like they just said. His skill set has been unbelievable. He's been a welcome addition. You know, the QB is going to be good and he's going to have to find guys. And this guy on the outside, Cooper Perry is going to be really, really good. Kingston Lupa is the guy that we're talking about the most though. This is the one guy. And when you start to look at this guy, safety or Oregon transfer, highly recruited, just like everybody who goes to Oregon. But this is a guy that you talk about day one for the draft. He does not look like a human, like six five, huge, big, great speed, big frame. I love, by the way, now like to be able to use the NCAA to the EA Sports video game like I love to. I'm using these numbers from now on, by the way, when I see them, but he's got, you know, really good speed at 86, at being over 200 pounds and being 6 5, can play free safety, strong safety, can play that star nickel. He's, he's, he's a unicorn. That's what, that's what he's called, a unicorn.
Wes Blankenship
Like the fact DP that he already has the cow tattoo. How sweet is that?
David Pollock
It's pretty, it's pretty dope. Coming fresh from, fresh from Oregon. He's from California, so coming back home, obviously I think is a good one, but stands out big time with physicality. You know, athletic ability. Just one of those guys. So Cal, not surprising has has a lot of guys on this list because coach coaches got back to us and so it's just the way it works. Louisville Club Lubin. I love the name by the way and this is not a guy. If Brent was on here right now and talking to you, Brent, we're like wait a minute. He's pff. And he's graded and he's this. He absolutely is. And he transferred a year ago and he was one of these guys that was talked about a little bit. But here's the fun thing. I went and watched his highlights. I just had to watch his highlights. He's got Elvis Dumerville written all over him. He really does under.

a good life sleep sized really quick first step. Go get the quarterback. Like really, really good. A year ago he came from Coastal Carolina. He got. He's. Look at that picture right there. Dude's got juice. Like this dude. He's batting the. He's batting balls down all over the place. He's. He's running down screens. I love what his coach said. He said when he was recruiting him a year ago. What jumped out on tape? His defensive line coach from a year ago. Nonstop. He was a guy I have not watched a guy that had any comparison to him from a motor standpoint. That's what 50 for Louisville brings you. Absolute baller can get to the QB. He's got that quick first step. Hunts just continues to hunt the whole game. Make plays. There's your Louisville guy. Boston College, you know. You know the coach at Boston College, Wes, you remember the coach at Boston College,
Wes Blankenship
Billow, Bill o'.
David Pollock
Brien. You remember? Was he the first guest on our show, Quizzing me?
Wes Blankenship
Yeah, he was our. He was our first.
David Pollock
I think he was our first.
Wes Blankenship
Our first guest.
David Pollock
How about that? Wes, I feel like you're in a Halloween. Halloween.
Wes Blankenship
Yeah, I'm charging. I'm charging my AirPods and I don't.
David Pollock
I like this.
Wes Blankenship
My monitor is my, my light. Yeah.
David Pollock
Yeah, I can. I can just see your teeth a lot.
Wes Blankenship
Like see ball. Get ball after dark. Yeah. Bill o', Brien, go back in the archives. The first get and some of the best stories. It's hard to tell.
David Pollock
Billy O was really good. He actually talked about Evan Dickens. Billy O. If you don't. If you didn't listen to that first one, which a lot of y' all didn't. He recruited me to Georgia Tech, so I have a really good relationship with Bill o', Brien. And so I, I can still hear myself on your screen. Wesley. Evan Dickens, running back, Liberty from Liberty. This guy has toted the mail, has made big plays. Smart, good vision. I think the. I loved what he said when he was quoted this spring of why he chose to go to Boston College. The opportunity to learn under coach Bill o', Brien, who's an offensive genius. He's a fricking genius. He's played in a ton of systems.
Grainger Advertiser
He's.
David Pollock
He knows how to make it work. Pro style, obviously, offense. This guy's going to be an absolute baller. He's going to be the cornerstone of this, of this team. He can catch out of the backfield. He can make all kinds of big plays. And Bill o', Brien, he'll. He'll draw it up for him. He'll dial it up for him. It'll be focused around Evan Dickens. Honorable mention, Chris Jones. Sound familiar to some of you Georgia fans? Transfer from Georgia said, smart, tough, can rush the passer, has great versatility to play linebacker kind of all over the field. So I think Boston College, I also side note about Boston College, they committed this offseason more than they had. They went a lot like Virginia a year ago. Like they, they kind of dipped their toe in. They're starting to. To understand what this new age is and how you got to pay players and how that works. And so interested to watch Boston College as a whole with Billy o' Brien and these guys. I think he'll figure it out. All right. Another former guest of the show who's running this team, Fran Brown. We've had Fran Brown on. Fran is an absolute ball of energy. He's really, really fun and talking. If you watched Syracuse a year ago, Syracuse was three. They were three and one wins over Clemson and a nine win Yukon team. And they were looking really, really good. And then their quarterback got hurt and it went downhill very, very fast. Their big wide receiver, their alpha wide receiver, Umari Hatcher got hurt. And that right, that guy right there is. Look at that. That's reaching up at six, three. Big old frame. He's going to win those 50, 50 balls. Number five is open like he knows how to make plays. This passing game will come back up. If you remember two years ago with Kyle McCord, this was one of the best offenses, the best passing offense in all of college football. They know how to dial it up. Hatcher is going to be the guy. He's the dude. Like they absolutely love him. MVP of the spring. There's no debating of who the guy is in the room. Like he's, he's absolutely the dude and they'll look to him. So Hatcher will be a go to guy. I last one for the ACC teams. Smu Ymir Yamir Knight and again I told you I love the college, the college football game. I do not just because I do the voiceover stuff. I just, I love numbers next to things I love having like acceleration and in 2026, the college football game, acceleration for night 94. Dude can go, he can absolutely ride. Change of direction can make you miss punt returner. Like dude, dude wins. He wins over the middle of the field. He separates from people. You watch him. He makes plays. That's what he does. You got experience with Jennings at the quarterback spot. He can, he can run. He, he can catch it and run. He can run deep and catch it. He can catch it short and run it long. He got juice. And Rhett Lashley had a bunch of other guys too. But I'm going to shut up because I've been talking a lot and we went through a lot of different guys but Brent, any names that stuck out right there?
Brent Rollins
I mean you talked about Lubin from Elvis Du.
Wes Blankenship
You like that?
Brent Rollins
That's, that's a very good comp.
David Pollock
Thank you.
Brent Rollins
I mean it's like were speaking your love language there with, with the mentioning his motor.
David Pollock
I will say that's so good. Like I almost said that. By the way, I have an affinity for high motor guys. I just do. I, I love watching that. And that dude, man, he's got some flipping juice like he flies I mean, PBUs and tips and chasing screens and just. He's 50s everywhere. It's. It's awesome to watch him play.
Brent Rollins
All right, so question for you. And I had to ask Wes because I actually, as you were talking about the Duke guys, it made me think about it. Who's Duke's quarterback?
David Pollock
Transfer from San Jose State. Like, yeah, you get.
SpinQuest Advertiser
Or you get.
Brent Rollins
Or yeah, yeah, you get. Something like that. That was. And then the cow thing you mentioned Cooper Perry. He's kind of the less heralded of the transfer receivers they got because they got Ian.
David Pollock
You're gonna hear about him.
Brent Rollins
Chase. Chase Hendricks from Ohio that were, you know, big time in terms of both statistics and performance. A year ago, I, I tweeted on January 20, I went and looked at the date like that early. Hey, this team might be a playoff team, Cal. I think I might be. Listen, they're definitely in that can group.
David Pollock
I'm on the Bears for sure. And just it's. I mean, it's really just spending a little bit of time with Tosh lapoy. I mean, that dude, just like he'll make you run through a wall is just so.
Brent Rollins
Well, I mean, you bring guys from Oregon that are not necessarily playing at Oregon. It's not like they're. Those aren't really talented. Getting crazy talented guys.
David Pollock
Yeah, all those guys from. From Oregon are all four star kids or higher like those are. He's bringing in big time guys for sure. All right, before we get to your numbers, we got to get to Game time because NCAA baseball is here. NCAA softball, by the way, which is super freaking excited. It really is. But game time, they got you covered, man. Whether it's baseball, whether it's softball. Shoot, it could be coming to Athens here soon because both teams are playing so dagum. Good, good World Cup. If you're trying to see some of that, I think that's always entertaining. Gametime Co and the Game Time app, it has your seat ready with none of the fees. Again, you see the price. That's the price. Use the promo code Pollock and you get $20 off your first order. And you get. So the price goes down. You get to watch it go down. Get in the stadium, the concerts, stand up, comedy acts, whatever you are feeling this time of year as it continues to get hotter, Game Time is the ticket. To get your ticket again, gametime Co. Or go to the Game Time app. It has your seat ready to rock and roll. So. All right, now that we got power back on, now that we're rocking and rolling, let's get to some QB let's get to some numbers non QB X factors for top 10 title contenders I don't know what that means. Me and Brent hadn't talked about it. Fire away, big fella.
Brent Rollins
So it actually came up from a discussion we had on the dog event@ugasports.com this week because I was thinking about Georgia's team and I've been looking a lot back at Gunner's season. But it's like okay, quarterback is obviously the most important position in the sport. If that guy's really good and or accelerates at a high plays at a high level, your team's going to be good. So who are the sort of critical non QBs for? I was sort of posing it for the Georgia's fan base specifically but looking at kind of the top 10 teams and I did look at title odds just to sort of at least pick the teams.
David Pollock
So I liked our comment by the way real quick from rodeo. I think it's Rodeo Health nut which love it. Rodeo Health Nut. He said. You're you're not you're the only guys not talking about the money from gambling. The gambling industry proud. At least someone has morals. Thank you for being true believers. You won't find that here. You won't find cursing and you won't find gambling. It's just not something you won't listen to us talking about alcohol like it's just not something we're a part of. So we appreciate that and we're glad that you like that.
Brent Rollins
But find your version of it.
David Pollock
But yes, that's true. So so you got so who's on that list of contenders in that space spectrum. So Georgia comes to mind obviously because you already mentioned them.
Brent Rollins
So I'll go in order sort of the best thought Ohio State, Notre Dame, Texas, Indiana, Oregon and Georgia. So that's the top six and then Miami, Texas A M, LSU and Ole Miss. Those are the in terms of odds that I saw that were the top 10 teams I like Alabama, Oklahoma were right there. After that, Texas Tech was right there. But Texas Tech actually you know in
David Pollock
terms of Texas Texas in this I must say Texas Tech's in that category.
Brent Rollins
Yes.
David Pollock
I mean that that like so so to me right away like you're I'm gonna let you do your thing but the only people team teams on that list like the only really not known commodities in big huge question marks. Would you put LSU in that question mark because of Sam Levitt's health? Like that's one thing you could consider but you know what you get from Levitt, you know you said Georgia, you know what you get from Gunner. Bama is the only one. Bama and Texas Tech are the only ones on that list really, that you don't know everybody else going to get from your qb.
Brent Rollins
I mean, you could say Josh Hoover a little bit in Indiana, but your, your faith in the offense, your faith in significant.
David Pollock
I've already seen him. He's the leader.
Brent Rollins
He's played really, really well coming back.
David Pollock
Yeah, but I've already seen him. He can make the throws, he can spin the football. Like we absolutely know that. So that, that's not a, that's not debatable. We know he's a good quarterback with a lot of experience that can throw the ball all over the yard.
Brent Rollins
All right, so I'm going through these. These.

If you know you verbo teams and sort of looking at who I think is kind of the biggest X factor and the way I look at this to me is there are certain guys that I know are going to be very important like Bo Jackson for Ohio State. He's going to play really well and be really good. But I kind of know what I'm getting from him. So it's more about some of the guys that if this person plays at an elite level then okay, that raises the ceiling of this team and potentially makes them not necessarily favors for the title but a whole other level of title contender. So Ohio State, the first one I went to was Chris Henry Jr. Because the number two receivers opposite Jeremiah Smith have averaged 945 yards and nine touchdowns the last two years. If he's that and if he is instantly a guy from day one, that to me was there. The other option I thought was maybe Earl Little Jr. Coming over from Florida State. Does he get used much like defensively? Any other names come to mind for Ohio State, for you?
David Pollock
Well, I think the interesting thing about Chris Henry Jr. Is are they both the X spot? Are they both the same type of wide receiver? Because that to me I feel like they are. Listen, that's not an insult to Chris Henry Jr. At all. But I feel like he's an outside wide receiver. I don't feel like he's an inside wide receiver. I want to be the inside wide receiver at Ohio State. If I've got Chris Henry Jr. And Jeremiah Smith, I want to be the guy on the inside. Like I get no attention. Hey, just throw me the ball, dude. They get all of the attention. So, you know, whoever that guy that steps up for them, I think there's a bunch of candidates, but you're going to find someone, step up. I wouldn't bet on Chris Henry Jr. I bet it would be one of the other, you know, one of the other five, five star guys. That's what I would bet on.
Brent Rollins
Okay, Notre Dame, I went with one of two guys and it's one, it's both that are coming back from because we know what we're going to get with CJ Carr. Now we'll say that the transfer receivers that they got from Ohio State, there's a bit of an unknown there for Notre Dame, but they were super talented guys. You know what you're going to get in a lot of other places, especially defensively with Notre Dame, Charles Jagasaw and then Kedron Young. So Jack Saw offensive line has played 182 snaps in three years.
David Pollock
He was the, he was the, he was the four wheeler guy, right? The guy that.
Brent Rollins
Yes, the one that missed all last year with the off season incident. So if he like. I think there's a lot of positive vibes and thoughts about Will Black, left tackle for them. Young guy, redshirt freshman play. I played a little bit the previous year. But if from a talent perspective like Jacks all started left tackle in the national championship game two years ago and then Kedron Young at running back, big physical, 235, 240 pound back, they need somebody at that spot. And you know you're kind of getting with Aeneas Williams, but outside of that, who's that Next guy. Because they obviously want to use two.
David Pollock
Yeah, yeah. Nobody's proven right. Like, obviously the, the, the, the Price and Love connection worked out pretty good. I mean, that was, there's a reason that those two guys got the majority of the carries. I, when they're both first round draft picks. So. Yeah, I think when you look at the, the running though, I, I, I don't, I don't worry about Notre Dame's offensive line the slightest bit. I'm not the least bit concerned about their offensive line. I think running back all spring, everybody was hurt. Like, everybody was, even Aeneas was hurt. So, you know, I think, I do think that's their one hole, but I think they got some guys that they, that they like as well.
Brent Rollins
So I think this guy can actually like from a talent perspective. You get him, you get him playing and playing well and he stays on the field. Like it just to me raises the ceiling. All right, Texas, in terms of rooms, where is your biggest question mark for Texas at this moment?
David Pollock
Yes, this is the easiest thing in the history of the world. Offensive line.
Brent Rollins
So the two guys that I wrote down, the X factors are the transfers because I think, you know, you're getting a goosebie. You got Baker, that was one of the most penalized offensive linemen in the power four last year, but highly recruited, but moves inside. Because you got Fianni from Wake Forest.
David Pollock
Correct.
Brent Rollins
Who was at Temple initially. And then you got Seymour from Western Kentucky who was at Miami initially. So those two guys, they come in and they play well because they're experienced, but they obviously were at Wake Forest and Western Kentucky a year ago. So who knows in terms of how they play in the sec. But that to me is an easy one for them.
David Pollock
That's, that's an easy one for them to. I'm finding it very interesting and maybe it's just because I broke down Arch and I watched all of his stuff. The fact that some people are doing lists and Arch Manning is not in the top five at quarterback. What top 5 QBs?
Brent Rollins
Really? I think he's right. I mean, I think he's right there, right on the fringe of that list. Yes, very much.
David Pollock
He's guaranteed to be in the top five. You can write that down. You can take a picture. I don't give a fudge like you gonna, he's gonna be in that mix.
Brent Rollins
Sharpie that.
David Pollock
He's Sharpie that. Yeah, you, that's. That you'd even make me do one of your, you know, would you rather or would you. Which one's different or whatever you call it.
Brent Rollins
Like what's more likely?
David Pollock
Yeah, what's more likely? And it's so polarizing. It's insane. I love it.
Wes Blankenship
What's more likely? Arch Manning doesn't get drafted fifth or he grows a third arm.
Brent Rollins
Hey, so think. So think about the one I put posed last year for that with Arch. So. Because the question was what's more likely? That he won the Heisman or that Texas would have two losses before they played Georgia and they had two losses before they played Georgia.
David Pollock
I know. I know Brent Rollins hates Texas, but I'm. I'm on Texas, too. At least we're both. We're both agreeing. We're both on one other team, too. We're both on the Ducks. We know that.
Brent Rollins
Yes. That might be interesting in terms of when we get to actual pick them in terms of later in this off season or closer to the season. All right, Indiana.
David Pollock
You know what? You know what? My power went out, Brent, but my fan didn't go out. My fan. That was battery operated. I'd just like to point out it didn't even go out.
Wes Blankenship
So it wasn't your fan that like overpowered the or anything.
David Pollock
Battery operated. Ninja. You can't be throwing that on me. No, that sucker's charged and ready, baby.
Brent Rollins
Well, the last time this happened, we were interviewing Mac Brown.
David Pollock
I do. Yours didn't go out though, right? Like.
Brent Rollins
No, mine did. You. You kind of kicked back on Wes, held the fort for a minute. I never came right.
David Pollock
My power back.
Brent Rollins
Indiana. I think this is actually pretty easy in terms of biggest X factors for them. Position where they lost. Position where they got two transfers from the same school. They got Kansas State edge combo of Obizor and Osinsami Samni. I'm not.
David Pollock
I mean, could both of like can do. Both of them have to be miserable. By the way. Like, we couldn't have one that was like Smith. We couldn't have run. That was Kamara. Like you gotta have both that you have to pronounce.
Brent Rollins
Played like six games last year, missed the last part of the season with injury. And what does Indiana do with their defensive guys? They play a ton of snapshots. So can these guys play heavy snaps? Be impactful, man. What do they also prove really good last year?
David Pollock
Well, they also proved last year is you can lose a guy like Daily who played almost every snap and then just plug in another guy in the system. Still worked like unbelievably well. And that was the. That was the safety. The back seven for them were so Good and so experienced. Like, I mean you could do a clinic tape with eyeballs and how well they played with their eyes. And that's one thing that's not talked about in football enough. Like yes, height, weight, speed, 100 athletic ability. That is a hundred percent a skill. But so is this. So is this and so is this. And they had a lot of guys with those, man, a lot of experience with great eyes, great minds and great hearts. They played competitive and tough and that can supersede some of those other things if it's the right combination.
Brent Rollins
Are you at the point now after two years of Signetti and them having the same OC DC combo again, where you're just basically sharpening them in the playoffs, trusting the system with all the transfers.
David Pollock
I mean I was trusting it last year to be there. I was not trusting it to win. I was trusting it very much to be in the mix. So this year. Yeah, I mean I am, I think in this, in this world of if they didn't have to, I would say like, oh man, they're losing so much. But so is everybody. A lot of the times and everybody's playing this game of, of replacing guys. So yeah, I mean you. The system's the same, the dudes the same, the belief is the same. Now listen, getting higher ranked guys to come in and buy in and be the same is going to be a harder task. It's not going to be as easy and it's not easy to keep that culture and it's not. You don't have Mendoza anymore. But I'll pencil them in for the playoff run like to get there. I'm not going to pendulum in to win or. Yeah, that's, that's not how, that's not how I think of Indiana. But I'm definitely putting them in the mix. Which Indiana fans. Just say that out loud every year I'm in the mix. Say that bout loud. Holy cow.
Brent Rollins
All right, so these last the last five, I'll go one each and let you pick one, one or two that stand out to you that I thought were biggest X factor. So for Georgia it's Elijah Griffin to me, defensive tackle came on at the end of last year. Can he become an interior force and get the Jalen Carter snaps and potentially have that level of impact for Miami? Jackson Cantwell, the left tackle, the true freshman, like here you go bud. Go get some A M. The Northwestern transfer edge Anto Saka, can he become that one guy that they've had like they've had for the past Few years Ole Miss. I'm curious about safety. That's really when you look specifically defensively for them, that's really to me the only question mark. I think they're going to be really good along the front. Their corners I think are going to be good. Question mark is safety and lsu interesting one for me. I think a big extractor for them is Lane Kiffin's future son in law Weeks.
David Pollock
Can he stay healthy?
Brent Rollins
Can he stay healthy and be a consistent difference maker? Because he is a ball in and out. Exactly. So which of those stands out amongst those picks for again what we're talking about non quarterbacks who can sort of raise the ceiling of these title contending teams.
David Pollock
I would expand it beyond left tackle for Miami. I would say the offensive line because that was the strength of the team by far. And when you can't, I think your QB immediately upgrades. I think your receiver room is going to be better. But I think your offensive line is going to take a big step backwards and so that that will affect everything you do. That will make you not as good of a running team. You're running back still a baller but it'll also make you not as good of a passing team if you can't protect your guy. So like that it all hinges on that up front. It's not just left tackle. I think it's the offensive line for Miami, period. And then I'll go safety for Ole Miss for sure. I think I would, I would say defense for Ole Miss. I'm not as confident as you is in the whole defensive side of the football. But I mean I, I'm also concerned about their offense. I mean I just, I think that just new system, all the newness and can. Can they maintain it like it's. It's a lot like. Thank God for Trinidad. Thank God for Trinidad because. Because you. Your play caller regardless. Yeah, but your play caller is good regardless. Like Brent Rollins and he's a good play caller but could dial up plays with with him and make it work like you're going to make it work, which is a really, really good thing.
Brent Rollins
He'll make it work for you.
David Pollock
He'll make it work when the X's and O's don't. He can play above them.
Brent Rollins
The interesting thing with Miami with Cantwell, like the other guys that are sort of projected into their starting lineup have played at least you've seen some snaps
David Pollock
at the college level. That doesn't mean they were those other guys though.
Brent Rollins
No, they're not. Maui Noah, they're not Marcus Bell and the center itself. Experience the center.
David Pollock
Yeah. I mean, center was, he was really, really good. Really, really good. Yeah. And then, and that, and listen, they set the tone up front now. Malachi Tony being back is the most important piece by far.
Brent Rollins
Yes. Like, and, and the good Barcade's going to be good.
David Pollock
Separation between Malachi Tony and Jeremiah Smith is not that great. Like, it really isn't. I know they're built differently, but impact on a game, I, I mean, it's in the game. It's in the game. Like, it's crazy how close those two are. And all of the things that Malachi Tony does for you, I would argue is more impactful than Jeremiah Smith. He can play quarterback. He's taking the jets. He's do. He's throwing the football, for gosh sakes, like, he's blocking his tail off. He's inserting. He can play in the slot. He can play outside. Like, I, I'm, I know Jeremiah Smith's that guy, but if you're asking me if I wanted one guy in college, I'm not saying that I'm going to pick Jeremiah Smith right away. I, I could easily talk myself into Malachi Tony and probably would.
Brent Rollins
That sounds like a cover guy for your game. That's what that sounds like. He'd be my pick.
David Pollock
He's, he's a baller. I wouldn't put the same guy on there again. All right, where are we going to next? We go into Bill Belichick.
Wes Blankenship
Chapel Bill.
David Pollock
Yeah, Chapel Bill. My bad.
Wes Blankenship
Well, he told, pardon my take, that he didn't feel like he had a great relationship with his team last year and I thought that was interesting. A lot has been made about his other relationship with Jordan Hudson, but he said, look, I didn't have a full roster of guys that I put together and I, I get that. You know, as a first year coach, we, we've seen, you know, look at
David Pollock
Kirby laughing, by the way, because. Why, because when you say that and I hear it out loud and I go, you know, oh, Bill Belichick, you know, struggling at an older age to, to handle younger people and to understand them and how they work. But it, but his girlfriend's like 12. So like, I mean, she, I mean he's used to handling like she's, she's. The kid's ages in college, like, so relating, I feel like, should be, it shouldn't be that big of an issue.
Wes Blankenship
But, but they've been together for longer than a year, so maybe that first year was a Little tough.
David Pollock
But.
Wes Blankenship
But look, if this is his first year and this is. I'm not even going to say it's an excuse, but this is what he's pointing to.
David Pollock
Yeah.
Wes Blankenship
Do you think that it can get better? And if. If it doesn't, what's, you know, what is UNC gonna have to do to make the relationship work in 2026?
David Pollock
First, he immediately gets better. Yes. Because he knows what's going on, what the system is. They did not do a good job with evaluating a roster a year ago. That's a fact. Like, we can debate that till the cows come home. We can also debate coaching and how it went and how it worked. They looked outmatched in a lot of fights. Looked like they brought a knife to a gunfight. Enter Bobby Petrino, another elder statesman coach. I know good and well if the offense doesn't work, it ain't Bill's fault or it ain't Bobby's fault. Bobby's proven himself as a play caller. He's really, really good. It's Bill's fault, like a hundred percent. Their win total is, like, at 4. I think that's the expectations for them. There's a lot of new. A lot of investment in nil. They got a strong high school recruiting class. They got a tough schedule, man, like ACC play. They go to Ireland with TCU at a conference. They play Notre Dame. Obviously they're going to play Duke and NC State. Like always. I don't see it getting much better. Offensively at least they'll be more exciting. But after next year, then it's some serious discussions. I know Bill's going in the hall of Fame at some point, but he's never going to go in the College Football hall of Fame, that's for dang sure. And there's a lot of work still to do, obviously.
Wes Blankenship
I remember what you said last year. You thought, you know, you were a little bullish on Bill in his first year because. Because the schedule was easy.
David Pollock
Yeah. And now it kind of laughed at me. Brent was like, really? You think Bill's going to be really good? I'm like, yeah, I think they're going to do great. Like, they got a great schedule.
Brent Rollins
Like, I. I was. I won that one.
David Pollock
Yeah. I was like, he's a. He's a Hall of Fame coach. He knows how to coach. He's NFLs. This is more of an NFL system. Like, he's going to be fine.
Brent Rollins
But it's the same problem he had at the end of the New England term, picking players like Getting, well, actual guys and identifying them. That's just a pro. It's been a problem for him for
David Pollock
a while, but he has a GM now. But I'm just, I'm going on problem for him too. I'm going what. What I saw last year
Brent Rollins
struggle.
David Pollock
I don't. I'm good.
Brent Rollins
If, if they make it to a bowl game, that's a. I'll be shocked.
David Pollock
Tell you what, we're gonna have a power outage and still finish in pretty good time. I'd like to point that out for everybody. America, like, we're getting the job done. Have a power outage. We stay together, stay strong. All right, let's get to some winners. Brent, who won the weekend?
Brent Rollins
Dylan Mitchell. I don't know if you saw this, but won the. I forget what class it was, but in Texas, run a wind aided 992, 100 meters.
David Pollock
I thought it was 1002.
Brent Rollins
No, 992, 100 meters. Went a little bit of wind aided. Now he had a 10 one earlier in the year. That was when legal. Which puts him like number five all time for anybody under the age of 18. He's 16 year old sophomore and he's a football player too. Already has offers from USC, NC State.
David Pollock
Hey, Dylan.
Brent Rollins
Track might be your thing though.
David Pollock
Dylan. Go, go run track, bro. If you're, if you're running that, good gosh almighty, like, do your thing, Dylan. Like that. That is ridiculous. By the way, how much of a head start would I have to give you for you to beat him?
Brent Rollins
Half? I don't know.
David Pollock
I mean, that's my instant thought much. That would be such a. That'd be such a fun thing to watch because there'd be so many people out there be like, I just need, I just need a few yards. 5, 10 yards.
Brent Rollins
Like, like the Freeze at the Braves games. It's like, like, oh, I could beat the Freeze.
David Pollock
No, the levels to this is so insane. It's like, like 10, seven is really good. Really good. 10, nine is good. Like in the hundred. That kid's running 99. Are you kidding me? Dylan Mitchell, you are a boss, sir.
Brent Rollins
Like middle school. And I'm, I'm, you know, you're getting close to 11 flat and 100 or you know, middle 11, something like that. But then somebody's running 11 flat and you're just. They're just so far ahead of you,
David Pollock
so far ahead and you don't even realize it. Like, it's insane. All right, Wesley, who you got. Who won the. Who won the weekend for you, sir.
Wes Blankenship
Shaq. Shaquille o' Neal got his master's degree from LSU in arts and liberal sciences. I don't know what you do with that, but this is. This is. This could have been a podium king, but this is Shaquille.
Guest or Listener
I hate Charles Barkley. O', Neill,
Wes Blankenship
Have you ever seen Shaq in person?
SpinQuest Advertiser
Yes.
David Pollock
Yeah.
Wes Blankenship
What's that experience?
David Pollock
Like, you feel like a dwarf. Like, I. I felt.
Wes Blankenship
I just feel like every video can't possibly do it justice to what it actually looks like.
David Pollock
It's. It's ridiculous. You really can't. The. The. The. The thickness and the height of Shaq and, like, now you see why he punked, like, the best athletes in the world. Literally, just, like, go sit down. Unbelievable. But how about the name change? That's so Shaq. I love Shaq. It's impossible not to love Shaq and what he does for communities and kids. And his personality, like, he's so. He's just fun. Like, he. He's. He's the definition of fun. And I love that about Shaq. All right, my national anthem. Or I just screwed that up. Dad Gummet. My winner of the weekend is the Oklahoma softball crowd, and this is why. This was amazing. A young boy comes in, sing the national anthem. Dude's Dude's little star struck, a little crazed, and what happens this.
Guest or Listener
There.
David Pollock
That's how it's done. Tip of the cap, Oklahoma Sooner fans. Nicely done. Young man was distraught. He was. He was not having it. I get it. But that's how you do it, man. That's how we do it. That's how we should do it in America. We pick each other up. You fall down, you mess up, man, I got your back. They had their back. Oklahoma lost to Georgia in the SEC tournament, by the way. I don't know if you knew that, but Kendall Wells, you know, still had a historic season. We've talked about her a bunch. But we will be back this week. We'll be back Wednesday. More football to talk, more ACC dudes to talk. As we inch closer to college football season. Do the rate the, like, subscribe thing. Wes Blankenship, Brent Rollins, David Pollock, we appreciate y' all so much. Thanks for helping us grow. Peace.
