That Pollock interception in the end zone?
Brent's Co-Host (possibly a football analyst or commentator)
Well, it's David Pollock and I think people are going to learn what kind of ball player he is. He's got a heart of a lion. I'm really proud of that kid.
Brent Davis
This is Seaball Get Ball. College football's top show for football analysis, predictions and coach interviews. Now here's your host, three time All.
Brent's Co-Host (possibly a football analyst or commentator)
American, seven time Emmy Award winner.
What up everybody? Welcome on in to Seaball Get Ball. You know the playoffs are around the corner. But it's championship week and with it has come obviously a lot of coaching news and coaching decisions which will be a very influential part of the playoff. And obviously everybody knows about Lane Kiffin and then Charlie Weiss, if you haven't heard yet, which I think everybody in the world's probably talking about Lane. Charlie Weiss granted the freedom to go back after a little bit of a backlash. So he's going to be LSU's offensive coordinator, but back to the Ole Miss Rebels for the playoffs, which is fantastic for the kids. How is that not a win for everybody? So now you have gold in your D.C. charlie Weiss, your offensive coordinator. It gives Ole Miss a chance like it gives them a chance to be closer to what they are normally, which, which I think is winning. So we're going to give you the picks too in this show. We'll give you that later on. But other news, Tosh Lapoy from Oregon, he's the D.C. and he's been around a lot like he's been around a lot of successful guys. Been at Alabama, been obviously with Dan Lanning for a while. Great defensive coordinator for Oregon. He's going to be Cal's coach. So again, we've seen coaches do this in the past, but you'll have to navigate this and there's, there's plenty more. We're just going over right now what's going to affect the playoff, which is crazy because there's, there's more coaching news as well. But Jamarcus shepherd, he is the, the new coach at Oregon States he Oregon State. He will be the, the Beavers leader and he's Alabama's co offensive coordinator and wide receiver coach. So he's, he's going to go out west to Oregon State to the two pack which won't be the two pack anymore. Remember they're adding a bunch of a bunch to it. They're going to add a six pack or two and they're going to actually get back to, you know, trying to be become the PAC 12 again. We didn't hear much from Oregon State or Washington State this year and so I think Brian Hartline is probably another really, really big one. What is Brian Hartline done on, on Ohio State? Man, the recruiting has been elite like play calling. You know, a lot of, a lot of credit to Ryan Day and you know, obviously, but, but he's kind of gotten the reins after Chip Kelly left. Unbelievable job. But I think Brian Hartline has proven himself to be an elite recruiter. Going to usf? Yes, please, like you're not going to a bad team. You're going to a good team with speed. Go take that recruiting usf. I think got a really, really good coach. Will Stein, Oregon OC so Oregon, D.C. we already talked about Oregon OC. We're talking about next man losing both guys. Trying to focus on other things like that's, that's big. That's a big time hit I think for Oregon. But Will Stein, Kentucky native Louisville alum. That will be an interesting rivalry, but so creative. So many players drafted. The QB development with Bo Nix to to. Now obviously you know, you've seen, you've seen Oregon just Dante Moore and them just continue to soar. The offense continue to soar. Really, really good. Coach Colin Klein, A&M's OC, Kansas State alum going back to Kansas State. Everybody remembers the glory days for Kansas State. The best teams they had was Colin Klein. Colin Klein is innovative. The QB run game is always fun because he loved to do it. Sees the game at a great level again at A and M leaving. So those, those are all coaches that are in the Power 5 or Power 4 that, that are like leaving different jobs or are affecting playoff spots. Right. Like all those people are, you know, still fighting for this whole ball of wax to go win at all. And they're going to have to deal with those things which aren't necessarily the most fun to deal with. And then you go to the G5, like all the contenders, all the teams that are, that are fighting to get in the College Football Playoff. John Sumrall at Tulane obviously built, you know, built Tulane. They've been to the championship game so many years in a row. Really, really good. I think getting Jake Retzlaff before the season was big for them. So I have his experience going to Florida, but still have a, have a chance to make the playoffs. We'll talk about their opponent, which is North Texas, which Eric Morris is their coach. And he knows he's no longer their coach now. He's going to Oklahoma State. So you're playing the game right here like this is just plug, fill this, fill this hole. Another hole opens up. We're not talking about all of them, but then Bob Chesney, JMU going to ucla. And I think a lot of people with what happened at UCLA and the momentum they got right afterwards thought they might should have stuck with who they are and what they are. But obviously jmu Signetti before that was pretty dang good. So he had some pretty good players. So interested to watch Bob Chesney, if he can go Build on some of that momentum and take that next step. But those are. I think Oregon is the biggest loser in all that. It's good for their coaches. But when you lose your OC and your DC man, like, all the stuff that you have to. You have to wear two hats during this time period. And when you put that hat on, like, you got to put the other hat on and go recruit, and you got to put the other hat on and go take care of hires and this, that, and the other, it's not an easy thing to do. So O.C. and D.C. being gone, I think that's a really big deal for the Ducks. So it's. It's part of the game. It's where we're at. But. But that's a lot. There's a lot going into that. And so that's. That's your coaching carousel update. There's going to be many mores. Many more to that that we'll add. All right, next, we're going to talk to you a little about Omaha. A lot of beef. A lot of beef on this conference championship rundown this week. Well, we're talking about some picks, all that good stuff. Well, when it comes to beef for the pilot crew, Nicholas Pollack, who is the main carnivore in the house, it's all about Omaha. Omaha Steaks. They're good. Their burgers are good. They ship it to you. Yes, please. I do not want to leave if I don't have to. You open it up, you slap that puppy on the grill. If you want to break out the thermometer, however you do it, they're going to send it to you. Not only does Omaha deliver delicious ribeyes, strips, burgers, you can also get chicken, which makes up a major part of what we eat in our household. Obviously, I'm. I'm a big chicken guy. Even. Even my son knows how to cook and appreciates it. He knows when those boxes are coming. Of Omaha. He's really jacked up about it. He's excited. He broke it out literally the other day, went to work. Doesn't even tell us he's doing it. But Nicholas is very thankful. If you use. For the C ball, get ball listeners, if you use the promo code pollock, you'll get $35 off of your Omaha Steaks order right now. $35 off. It's that time of year, man. Come on. It's. It's the giving season. We're giving it to you here at C ball. Get ball. Promo code Pollock, put in Pollock. Save yourself Some money, get you some steaks. $35 off an order? Yes. Like, sign me up. I know it's a good deal. It's crazy. You hear good stuff on this show. We want you to eat good, too. Be healthy. Eat good. Get you some Omaha, some nice. Some nice steaks for the holiday season. All right, let's get to some picks. Brent, I know I got you hungry already. Talking about Omaha, I can't imagine that we're going anywhere else for the first. First game.
Brent Davis
One quick, funny thing, though. One. One quick funny thing is all those coaches that you listed, there's one team who you didn't list.
Still doesn't have a coach. That would be Penn State.
Brent's Co-Host (possibly a football analyst or commentator)
Well, they're not. They're not in the playoff. Last year we could have had this conversation, but, you know, those are all teams that are in the play. Isn't that weird, though? Like, the first one to make the move, to get in line, to be excited. Like, we're gonna. We're gonna be the first one hopefully to get a crack at the apple and swinging a miss, Swinging a miss.
Brent Davis
Swinging a miss right out.
Brent's Co-Host (possibly a football analyst or commentator)
And listen, it doesn't matter in the end. It doesn't matter. All that matters is you get the right guy. Because just like all these hires, man, like sometimes you. It falls to you and you just get lucky. But I'm just. I'm trying to figure out who it's going to be, and it. It's not going to be somebody with a resume like James Franklin.
Brent Davis
Yep, very true. All right, moving on to the picks, because the nugget platter is the nugget platter for a reason, because this is number one and number two in the polls. Number one and number two in FPI, number one and number two in strength of record net efficiency, and number one and number two in PFF's overall grade. So we're going to look at a lot of numbers here for PFF promo code. Get ball 25 if you want to get 25 off. And I think I saw 30 off holiday, some sort of 30 off code. Look. Look at their website for that. But Ohio State, Indiana, Big ten championship in the state of Indiana in Indianapolis, where the game is being played. This is as good as it gets. And it's. I'm gonna start. I'm gonna start one. I. I kind of broke these bigger game, the two, three bigger games down into offense versus defense type deal.
So Ohio State's offense versus Indiana's defense. I actually think if you look at Indiana last year to this year, it's the defense that's actually improved the most. But one thing that popped out initially, just sort of looking at the totality of the season. Julian saying, I've talked all season about his sort of ball placement data accuracy numbers that we have at PFF, he's number one in the power four by 8% over Carson.
Brent's Co-Host (possibly a football analyst or commentator)
Is that good?
Brent Davis
That's the same gap so between 1 and 2 as the gap between 2 and 28. So he's just that much more, that much better than everybody else at elite ball placement for their offense. Indiana's defense is better, but what Ohio State's going on offense right now, different world.
Brent's Co-Host (possibly a football analyst or commentator)
Indiana's defense is better. It's really, really good. But I went back and watched a lot of Indiana today. They're very good at what they do. They're very understanding of who they are. They're not going to sit in man coverage when they don't have guys that are going to sit in man coverage and be great at it, like. But when you talk about, like, reading eyes, passing off receivers, they're very good within structure. They play a ton of zone defense. And every time I watch Julian saying, and you don't pressure him, and you sit back in zone when you've got those two freaks out wide, it's not fun. Like, it is literally. Back foot sticks in the ground, ball comes out. Back foot sticks in the ground, ball comes out. Like, if you don't play, man, it's really hard to slow down the rhythm and timing of an offense. Right? Like, it's just, you're. You got guys running off the rock. And it becomes extremely easy for Julian saying, so, so can Indiana change who they are a little bit? You said battle for the Big Ten. This is a battle for the number one seed in the College Football Playoff. This is a battle for the Heisman Trophy. Like, this is the last undefeated team versus the last undefeated team. Like, this is as good of a game as it gets. Ohio State we've been talking about all year long. Indiana we've been talking about all year long. Like, who can absolutely go out here and get this dub, get that number one seed, get the Heisman Trophy. Like, that's what's at stake, man. Like, this is as big as it gets. This is so much fun to watch. The X's and O's are going to be big. The coaches are going to be big. Ohio State has way better players, way better players. It's not close. It's not debatable across the board. It's Ohio State. Slanted, extremely heavy. How does Indiana combat that? How do they. How do they even the playing field? How do they not give up big plays? How do they blitz Brent again and play zone coverage behind it to fool.
Brent Davis
Julian saying like that's scheme thing at you. And this is one that is interesting when you look at how Indiana plays defense versus how Ohio State runs offense. Indiana is a heavy base personnel team. They put three linebackers on the field as much as any top 10 in the Power 4, as much as anyone in college football. Guess who also does that? Michigan. And Ohio State has run a lot of 12 personnel with two tight ends this year with Claire and Kazmark. Or yeah, if you've. But you've got to put those linebackers now in coverage against and figure. And you got to figure out ways to handle Tate and Smith and the unique way and Claire too and the unique things that they do. That's where it's like you're just asked like defensive coordinators oftentimes ask you to throw the ball on them. I wonder how much you're going to see because that's their best players. So they put them on the field oftentimes. That's the scheme part with this where Ohio State to me can take big time advantage in that personnel grouping against Indiana when they play base defense.
Brent's Co-Host (possibly a football analyst or commentator)
Yeah. And then the Camaro is going to have to eat. He's their best guy.
I don't know. But he can win. It doesn't matter. One, it doesn't matter. He can still win.
Brent Davis
I know he's got tons of pressures.
Brent's Co-Host (possibly a football analyst or commentator)
He's like one of the leader in pressures and that's. That is the most overrated stat in the history of the world to sacks. You're, you're. But like because it pisses you off as a. I'm a defensive end so I'm going to talk from experience like you can have the best pass rush move you've ever had and it doesn't matter if the ball comes out quick. Like a lot of your best ones. You're like mother.
Like I had that sucker and the ball came out or they screen you. So the pressures are definitely something to continue to look at. He's going to have to play great. They'll have to mix it up some. But they're stunting up front is really good. That's what, that's what Indiana is going to have to do. They're going to have to twist those simulated pressures where they're, they're bringing certain guys they play over the top of Smith and then drop underneath Smith and Tate. Like that's what you want to watch. And how can they make that? Listen, we also got to play the other side and Mendoza. And watching this offense again versus Iowa, watching this, breaking this offense down, like this offense is good, but I love Surratt, I love Cooper. Those guys don't run by you like they're not. Like they're not burners that are running down the middle of the field wide open every single time. Here's. You have to beat Ohio State out wide. You have to. You. You cannot beat them consistently. Indiana's not going to beat them in the box consistently. They're not going to do it. So Surratt in the back shoulder. The most undefensible play in all of college football has to be big out wide. Ohio State will get handsy now, this year they've been better, but they will. They will get handsy. They will play, man. Like they're going to have to make plays. The perimeter screen game is good. It's quick. Mendoza can throw it all the way from sideline to sideline, from hash to far sideline, which is good to stretch you out more on the perimeter. And then the trump card in the end, you can get to Mendoza, but can you get him on the ground? Because that's a 6 foot 5, 230 pound animal. Like he's a big strong dude saying, can be average and win this game. Mendoza, he gonna have to get in that dagum booth, put that Superman cape on, rip that shirt off and have the S on his chest, man. Like he gonna have to play like a bad mother. Shut yo mouth running throwing RPO game. Ohio State's defense haven't given up 17 points all year. Not one singular time. Mendoza and company, they better get to 27 if they want to win this football game. Yeah, and I don't think they can.
Brent Davis
So what's interesting, when you really watch and look at the totality of Indiana's offense this year, I'm going to give you some numbers here. 70, 70% completion, little over 3,000 yards, 38, 38 touchdowns, five picks, 84.5 passing grade. So that's good stuff. Versus last year. 69 completion, right around 3, 100 yards, 31 total touchdowns, five picks, 90.2 passing grade. Rourke had has basically the same numbers that Mendoza has this year, other than a few more touchdown and a few more rushing touchdowns that Mendoza has and just a little bit more rushing yardage. But backs, receivers, all of it. It's almost a carbon copy. So the Point that I had written.
Brent's Co-Host (possibly a football analyst or commentator)
Like, I bet you the run game was a lot better a year ago.
Brent Davis
About the same.
Brent's Co-Host (possibly a football analyst or commentator)
Yeah.
Brent Davis
Actually just a little bit more.
Brent's Co-Host (possibly a football analyst or commentator)
It's a little people more.
Brent Davis
A few more people. But yeah, it's the only. I think the only way that you look at how this game differs from how this game went a year ago is him making plays with his legs. Yep. That's the only card that's different in this deck in, in this matchup to me than last season. And that's why I think it goes very similar to last season. And Ohio state wins by two touchdowns.
Brent's Co-Host (possibly a football analyst or commentator)
I got 27, 17, 31.
Brent Davis
17 is what I wrote down now.
Brent's Co-Host (possibly a football analyst or commentator)
But if they get to 17 Indiana, you didn't win, but you scored more points than anybody else did against them.
Brent Davis
So. One quick question, though. Smith and Tate, banged up, missed a game, then played against Michigan. Are we in scenarios with some of these teams, specifically these two teams, because of where they stand, where if either of those guys feel anything out of whack, it's shut it down.
Brent's Co-Host (possibly a football analyst or commentator)
There's two answers to this. One, you should. You absolutely should. Two, no way. Inhale. Are you getting me off the field? Absolutely.
Brent Davis
Player perspective versus the coach perspective of this.
Brent's Co-Host (possibly a football analyst or commentator)
Kick rocks, bro. Kick rocks Smith. After watching Michigan game, I don't. Smith did not look 100% to me like he did not look like he had the same juice. Um, Tate to me looked really good, like he looked like himself. So I think it's something to monitor. But remember, how many of these guys on this team has a Big Ten championship?
Brent Davis
Zero.
Brent's Co-Host (possibly a football analyst or commentator)
Zero. None. So it's kind of a big deal. This matters. I think that's why guys we playing there. And then you say, yeah, I got a couple weeks off. Like we can, we can rest and we'll have a buy. Might even have the number one overall seed. Like you want the number one overall seed. You want to go get this thing. So I think everybody's going to play to win. But as a coach, when you monitor players, I'm just telling you, bro, like, I don't need you out for five weeks. I need you. I need. Like this week isn't worth that. And you know, they've had some rest time because their, their, their schedule. They've played, they've got plenty of rest. They have had very little challenges in their way, that's for sure. Texas played them pretty good. Texas played really good. The team that's not like, ranked in the top five in the SEC played him pretty well.
Brent Davis
It's just one of those things when you're trying to predict how these games go and these teams like these two that are already definitively in the playoff. Get any little tweak, any little ankle strength, you know, ankle whatever, and you might have a good player. Just be shut down all of a sudden because of protecting for much later.

All right, Heartburn games. Here we go again. The boogeyman Georgia Alabama who's back?
Brent's Co-Host (possibly a football analyst or commentator)
Back again.
Brent Davis
Kalin's back because he's 20 right now against Kirby Smart. There's a lot different from the first game of the season. Like when you look at Georgia specifically they're their offensive line. Ernest Green in Drew, Bobo out Glover and Gaston not really true sort of freshmen start playing early. First Nate Frazier had a fumble early in the game and didn't scratch the surface of the field the rest of the game. He's been one of the best things like.
Brent's Co-Host (possibly a football analyst or commentator)
Like a madman though.
Brent Davis
He. He's been one of the best backs in the countries now he's the. He's the third highest graded running back in the Power 4 right now over a 90 PFF grade. No Colby Young, Zachariah branches usage has gone up like crazy whereas Bama no Cuevas no Jan Miller likely at least.
Brent's Co-Host (possibly a football analyst or commentator)
The last that I saw no jam.
Brent Davis
Miller Brooks little Jalen Waddle number clone and very body type clone his usage has gone up and up. They've kind of stabilized the right side of their offensive line. The true freshman Kid Lee corners played a ton more so these teams have evolved very much from the first matchup but I don't know how much different the game is actually going to go.
Brent's Co-Host (possibly a football analyst or commentator)
Well Here's a couple things to keep in mind. Just like old times. We're here again. Georgia Alabama number number two seed is at stake for Georgia. A home game at stake for Bama. Probably like a chance to really move up.
Brent Davis
They'd be the 4 seed I think if they win.
Brent's Co-Host (possibly a football analyst or commentator)
Yeah. And get rid of all this crap like all the we're on the bubble crap like guaranteed you know because. Because again the, the. The not the Bama falling out of the top. Alabama's literally going to lose their mind because last year MSU or SMU got in after playing in the championship game. Still got in, didn't get punished and Alabama sat at home like they would lose their ever loving mind like they would go absolutely bananas. Rightfully so. I'm going to say this statement. I'm going to tell you the three most if you're. If you're taking out Georgia's offense and why they are so great and if you take the top three players on their offense. Number one is Gunner Stockton. Number two is Branch. This is level of importance to their team. Number three is Bobo who is out. It is a. It's not a small deal. It's a huge deal. It's the difference in picking this game. Gunner Stockton is growing and got more seasoned and more experience. You know how awesome it is to have a guy that can make all the calls for you and make life super easy. You want to know how much it made a difference. Go watch the Tech game. Because his backup got hurt in the Charlotte game. Like, this is. I got bad news for Georgia fans. Like, this is a big, big deal. It's not just like a little player that's kind of a piece of it. Like you could lose any other offensive player besides Stockton and Branch. And I would feel better about the loss than I do about Bobo. Like, that's how important Drew Bobo is. So to me that that's a big pendulum swing. How well do they run the football? A lot of run throughs when he left. You know, identifying fronts, making calls. Like the offensive line got worse against a not very good defense with Georgia Tech. So how does Georgia run the football? Can they run the football? Because if they can't run it, it's going to get ugly. It won't be pretty. Like, it will not be pretty. So I think Georgia's defense has improved a lot. It can keep them in the game. The blueprints for beating Alabama, if you're watching, is bring pressure on Ty Simpson, man. Like, you give him time. He's really, really good. Georgia tried week, week three or four, whatever it was, they tried to bring pressure and they never got home. So the creativity is going to have to be greater. You have to get to him. You have to take away the middle of the field to be to, to beat Ty Simpson. You have to make him throw it out wide. You have to make him throw it deep. You have to pressure him. Georgia hasn't been great at that, but also I think they were so bad to start the season. It's actually picked up and, and been more consistent, you know, lately. I'm going to give you this side. If I'm Alabama like, bro. If I'm Alabama like, I'm tired of watching the play clock run down, taking a timeout. I need to play faster. I need to put the ball in Ty Simpson's hand. I need to let him run a little bit. Like, I just, I'm going to give it to him and just like I did last time. And I'm going to say go win it. And I don't know that there's going to be enough pressure. And I think Georgia's offense is going to really, really struggle without Drew Bobo. So I have Bama, I have Bama winning this game in the rematch. I mean, I think it's going to be like a 27 to 14 game. I think Georgia is going to really struggle offensively.
Brent Davis
Wow. I'm a little in shock here.
I have a different perspective One thing you said about Simpson like re watching this the first game, I wonder how much of this game because of no jam Miller that they just go sort of four or five, four wide or go empty and just put it in his hands and be like okay, pick something quick and we'll just be efficient and quick and throw get the ball.
Brent's Co-Host (possibly a football analyst or commentator)
They did anyways. Really. I mean they let him throw the ball ad nauseam.
Brent Davis
But in his last six weeks. So post Tennessee for Simpson, 64.7 passing grade. He's got a turnover worthy play in every game. He's got, you know, one multiple turn worthy plays in three of those games.
Gunner trending down. I something tells me about the whole playing them again because this is the second time that they've been beaten earlier in one season and then playing them later in the season. I got Georgia 23, Alabama 20 find a way. The running. I do think the run game gets simplified this week for.
Brent's Co-Host (possibly a football analyst or commentator)
Because Bama hasn't been elite against it and Bama's been struggled against running quarterbacks. But like do you want to run Gunner 15 times when you got more games to play? Like and he don't. He don't avoid contact.
Brent Davis
No.
Brent's Co-Host (possibly a football analyst or commentator)
He's all about that life. Like Gunner loves it. He loves to get hit. So like I man, I, I would, I would love to think that you're right offensively but man, oh man, does that not that Georgia Tech not stick in your brain a little bit and just.
Brent Davis
It was bad as it gets.
Brent's Co-Host (possibly a football analyst or commentator)
It was not bad, man. And Bama's defense has done this all year long. Both defenses have gotten better as the season's gone on and Bama's pass rush with just three or four guys have gotten so much better because they would prefer to play zone. Like that's who they are. That's what they want to be. And gunner against zone has not been good. Like it has not been. It is not been good when it's a rhythm, a timing, a layering of the football. So listen, I think it's going to be this might be an SEC old school like you know, 17 to 14 game like that. I think that's how Georgia is going to have to win it.
Brent Davis
You talked about the how bad Tech was. So normally I do the film don't lie. We break down the games for ugasports.com and on YouTube people said hey, why didn't you do a tech one? And we. And we were like executive decision. It was every. It was good for everybody's mental health just to move on to Bama.
Brent's Co-Host (possibly a football analyst or commentator)
Yeah.
Brent Davis
Well, all right, next one Big 12 championship at noon on Saturday. Texas Tech, BYU. Definitively winning your end for BYU. Because championship game, Texas Tech, I. I think they're in regardless. But hey, they're in the conference championship. They've been in the Big 12 for all 30 years it's existed and they're in it for the first time, so.
Brent's Co-Host (possibly a football analyst or commentator)
Well, and so is you. So Utah's in it for the first time ever as well. So that's definitely byu. Byu. Sorry. Wow, that's blasphemous, by the way, for those two schools, too. That's. That's ungood. You can't do that, you dummy.
Brent Davis
So another game that we've seen a rematch. Yeah. And you think about last time. No run game for byu. Three turnovers, muff punt. They. They did force at least five field goals. They sacked Morton five times. But that's literally the only pressure they got on. And here's the thing, to me, that is the key to this game for BYU more than anything is the first quarter. You can't get behind 10, nothing, 13, nothing like you did early in that first game.
Brent's Co-Host (possibly a football analyst or commentator)
Because in the first quarter, BYU too, by the way. You've seen that throughout the season. Like, you're looking up at Iowa State and you're like, what the heck just happened? And they make good adjustments.
Brent Davis
But Bear in the first quarter, one of four for one yard in that first game.
Brent's Co-Host (possibly a football analyst or commentator)
Well, here's the thing. Here's. Here's what sucks because you got the law firm of BH HH on the other side of Bailey, Height, Holmes and Hunter, who. You don't want that smoke. You want none of it. They're going to want your ace up front. They're not going to get moved consistently. So Bear has to throw it. He's a freshman. You don't want to depend on him to throw it. He's going to have to. There's one chance for byu. Let it rip, bro. Let it rip.
Brent Davis
Like, I agree.
Brent's Co-Host (possibly a football analyst or commentator)
Let it go. Like, you're going to have to do the QB run game, too. But I just. You know the interesting thing about Texas Tech? Their only loss was with a backup quarterback. They got 11 wins by 20 plus points. Like, they've been absolutely like frying pan meat dome. Like anybody who walks up, they've been beating the crap out of them. And so a lot of. Listen, Dick, Dickey and Williams, the 1, 2 punch at running back, that's the way it goes. You got to keep your boy upright. Morton at QB and keep him keep him healthy, you execute remotely decent in the red zone. I got nothing for you. There's no way that I can spin this, that the BYU can win this game. Like, just like the first time. That's what I said the first time. I was like, I don't see a world where BYU wins this game, but if I'm byu, by God, I'm jacked up. I got a chance to go earn the playoff spot. Like, good for you. Like, if you, if you told me that before the season, you'd have been absolutely excited and everybody in their uncle. We just covered the Alabama game. Everybody should be cheering against or for byu. Against BYU and against Alabama. All those that are on the. On the bubble. If BYU wins. Ooh, not good. They taking someone's spot. Texas Tech is still staying in them. So I just. L.J. martin running the football. He's such an Animal. They had 67 yards rushing last time, man. There ain't no holes.
Brent Davis
Something.
Brent's Co-Host (possibly a football analyst or commentator)
Yeah, but they had 67 total. Like with Bear. That's not. That's obviously the season low. So I just. I don't know what they're going to do. But you. You've got a dream scenario to win in your end. And that's, that's, that's all you could ask for. Utah, byu, very much so.
Brent Davis
And it's one of those where you think you as bad as you had the three turnovers, so maybe turnover luck comes back your way and you don't. You don't have that. You missed 20 tackles in that game. If you're BYU, the most they've missed all season. They also missed 20 is Utah, but 20. You also had four drops. So it's like, okay, maybe we creep back to average and we can hang around a little bit. But I got Texas Tech by two.
Brent's Co-Host (possibly a football analyst or commentator)
Scores on the Animals. Right in the trap, by the way, hoping Morton is in better shape because you could tell he was dinged up last time they played. He was not Morton's scrambling self, but I think LJ was too. Well, there you go. It's right in the chat. I think LJ was too, because he was still coming back and he's been dealing with some injuries this year. But, yep, I've. I've got BYU being more successful this game, but it's not going to be. It's not going to be a close game in the fourth quarter.
Brent Davis
Two scores.
Brent's Co-Host (possibly a football analyst or commentator)
Yeah.
Brent Davis
Third. I think I. Yeah. 3117 for me. All right. The. The potential monkey wrench to a lot of this also at 8 o' clock on Saturday night. Virginia, Duke, ACC championship. This is football. This isn't basketball.
Brent's Co-Host (possibly a football analyst or commentator)
You heard me right?
Brent Davis
Yeah. You know, one thing I was thinking about, if the ACC's like multiple team tiebreak was just who had the best overall record.
Miami would be in the game.
Brent's Co-Host (possibly a football analyst or commentator)
But it's not.
Brent Davis
But it's not.
Brent's Co-Host (possibly a football analyst or commentator)
I mean, last time there's already enough craziness. Like, that's like Duke wins and, and they've. We've got just absolute madness. They're seven and five in this thing. They're going to be left out. Troy beats jmu. Duke could still maybe get in, maybe. And then you got Boise and UNLV. Like, but. But Duke lost to UConn and Tulane. Like they, they lost the UConn in two lane. Like those aren't in conference. But those are not juggernauts. Like, those are not teams that are more talented than them. So, you know, they've also lost to Virginia. They lost by 17 to Virginia last time they played. I think it was something around there. And yeah, man, like, I don't know that we've done it enough. I don't know that we've given up or given enough praise to Virginia and what they've done. Like, it's just, it's been, it's been fun to watch, man. To go 10 and 2. I think that the defense has gotten more consistent as the years gone on. The offense has spurts and flashes, but the balance is good with Taylor and Morris.
Brent Davis
Chandler Morris has played his tail off.
Brent's Co-Host (possibly a football analyst or commentator)
Chandler Morris, since he got concussed, he's been even better. Like he got dinged around a little bit and all of a sudden cobwebs cleared up and he's let it rip.
And his best game, well, last time and that was against over 300 yards against Duke. Duke. Duke's coverage is very ungood. Like, very ungood. But Virginia beat him by 17 last time.
Duke has it. Yeah. And Duke has a tendency to give it up, give it away like a nonprofit. Like they want to give it away like it's a tax write off. Like they will. They will throw that football to you. They will fumble it. They will give it away on special teams. They only had one, one turnover in the first one. They lost by 17. I mean, is good. But I tell you what, I watched Duke, man, Nate Shepherd's good. I've talked about him. Like, he's a good running back, man, but like, I think they're like allergic to running the ball too much. But I mean, I would love to pick Duke but I already told you I'm out. Like I did it a couple of times this season and it made me quit and it made me queasy. So I think it's I'll go exact same score. I'll go 34.
Brent Davis
I wrote the exact same score.
Brent's Co-Host (possibly a football analyst or commentator)
That's hilarious.
Brent Davis
I mean, Virginia wins basically the same game.

Yeah.
Brent Davis
Next up, American Conference Friday night. American.
American Athletic Conference I guess is maybe the American God.
But it's at Tulane. So it's North Texas. Both ranked now ranked matchup North Texas at Tulane. This is the head coach that wins goes to the playoff. The head coach that loses goes to their new job game.
Brent's Co-Host (possibly a football analyst or commentator)
Yeah they go to Oklahoma State or to Florida, one of the two.
Brent Davis
Hey.
Brent's Co-Host (possibly a football analyst or commentator)
And this is a matchup we haven't had, which is cool. Like, we didn't see this.
Brent Davis
Yes.
Brent's Co-Host (possibly a football analyst or commentator)
I think during the regular season. So it's good. It's at Tulane. Tulane's been in four of these. This, this is my biggest thing about this game that I'm very curious. They've been in four of these in a row. Jake Ratzlaff has played in a lot of big games. This isn't going to, like, surprise him, scare him. So I think the experience in the big games and stuff, like, they're, they're going to be ready for this. Like, that's, that's where I say Tulane has a little bit of an advantage. But I've watched North Texas a lot this year, and that's never something that's really come out of my mouth. They're really just. They're kind of fun to watch, like. And listen, they haven't. They beat Navy and they beat Washington State. State by like 6,000. I mean, I think they're still scoring, but it's an offense that has a lot of balance, you know, with, with Hawkins. I think obviously they throw the ball too, with Messamaker, who's. You talked about, you know, 17 years ago about just never starting a game in high school football and now starting.
Brent Davis
In college and FBS in yards and yards per attempt and maybe at a.
Brent's Co-Host (possibly a football analyst or commentator)
University, you know, soon that you are very familiar with.
But here, here's the difference with, with North Texas and why I think North Texas wins this game. I like the balance. Like, they might have some jitters. It's a big game, but I like the balance of their offense. And if you watch, you know, number 10 in the slot for them with the balance, with the play action, the ball coming out quickly. When you win, the ball comes. That's. That's what I love about our boy at qb, man. Like, he doesn't, he doesn't try to scramble around and do things he's not able to do. The ball comes out, man. Reads it, sees it, throws it like play action. They do a great job. 50 plus in five of last six games.
Brent Davis
Like, they're going one average.
Brent's Co-Host (possibly a football analyst or commentator)
Yeah. Lost the USF and, and, and they're going to score and so is Tulane. And this is going to be a fun game back and forth. 35, 31.
Brent Davis
North Texas, number 10 that you were talking about, Wyatt Young.
Brent's Co-Host (possibly a football analyst or commentator)
Young, who is a stud. He's the truth.
Brent Davis
Just kind of came and didn't really play A lot. Didn't get targeted a lot early in the season. USF was kind of the first game.
Brent's Co-Host (possibly a football analyst or commentator)
And then he gets the rest of the way like it's like thousand yards. Yep.
Brent Davis
In the last seven weeks.
Brent's Co-Host (possibly a football analyst or commentator)
He's a running back. That's what's fun to watch him when you see him catch the football. Dude breaks tackles like he absolutely breaks tackles, makes plays like it doesn't have to be a long bomb down the field. If you get it to him on time, he's going to make stuff happen.
Brent Davis
Yep. The. The whole road piece of this is the only thing that gave me any hesitation. But if you look at their last three common opponents, transitive property, whole business added up together. North Texas wins by 70.
I got North Texas 41, 34. This will be a fun game to watch.
Brent's Co-Host (possibly a football analyst or commentator)
Will be fun.
Brent Davis
Friday night will be a fun one to watch. Chips and dips. Some other championship games that we'll get into really quickly. Not the marquee ones, but we are.
Brent's Co-Host (possibly a football analyst or commentator)
Fired up before you get Raider red. Oh, as a Tech fan, I hate when you. When it's obvious that we should win. You know what? Wreck them. Listen to me, bro. It's a different world. You live in a different world. Accept it, embrace it, own it. It's fun. And you're here. Thank you, Cody. Thank you for, for the blessings. Like, this is a new world. My man. And Reckham, you ain't going nowhere. Like, embrace it. Like, I. I love it. I understand what I'm saying. Yes. All right, what's the matchup?
Brent Davis
James Madison, Troy, jmu. These two at least also have not played, which is. I got nothing for you other than the fact that James Madison has beaten the crap out of almost everyone and has been kind of a buzz saw in this league. It's actually interesting that you have this league that has two divisions and the winner of the divisions actually play each other in the. In the championship game. I. I think JMU wins. I think they're just sitting there hoping and waiting this to see what Duke does on Saturday night.
Brent's Co-Host (possibly a football analyst or commentator)
And JMU is just like if you watch a man that they're physical, they're tough. Like, it looks like a signetti team like that.
Brent Davis
Oh, they played Louisville. Very tough and almost should have won that game.
Brent's Co-Host (possibly a football analyst or commentator)
Why their coach is gone too. But like, Yeah, I got JMU, UNLV.
Brent Davis
Boise State, Mountain West. Hey, 10 wins for friend of the program, Dan. Including a dub over UCLA last time, Boise won 5,631. They had almost 600 yards of offense this game. Is at Boise. That's not good for unlv.
Brent's Co-Host (possibly a football analyst or commentator)
No, I would love to spend this positively. Dan, I apologize, friend of the show. But three years in a row, we've had this matchup. Now this is the third year in a row we've seen these two in the championship game. And the last two didn't go great. So, Dan, like always, coaches, unbelievable offense. And they're gonna. They're gonna spin it, they're gonna run it, but unfortunately, they gotta play the other side. And yeah, 56. Last time they played 56. That's a lot like. Yeah, give me. Give me Boise again with an outside chance to still get in the playoff. It's somehow some way too.
Brent Davis
So, Conference USA Friday night, Kennesaw State, Jacksonville State. Jacksonville State won the first game. We did talk about it the last time that they actually played Kennesaw QB Amari Odom. 6'4,200 pound kid. I think he's a kid that's a power four QB. Potentially. Next year I got the Owls. I think. I think that even though it's at Jacksonville State, get a little revenge.
Brent's Co-Host (possibly a football analyst or commentator)
Little revenge. Last time they played, four turnovers for Kennesaw State shot themselves in the foot. How about Kennesaw State plus seven wins from last year, like second year, Like Kennesaw State, bro. Congratulations on a great season. You're not going to win this game, but congratulations on a heck of a season.
Brent Davis
You going Jack State?
Brent's Co-Host (possibly a football analyst or commentator)
Yeah, I'm going Jack State because of one reason people might not know this. The number one rushing person in the country is Camp Cook. Cam Cook leads the nation ahead of who in yard?
Brent Davis
Hardy.
Brent's Co-Host (possibly a football analyst or commentator)
Yeah, Hardy. Hardy's 21, I think 21 yards behind. Don't quote me on that. Don't quote me. I ain't said she.
Brent Davis
Yeah, I think QB runs it, too. Kaden Creel.
Brent's Co-Host (possibly a football analyst or commentator)
Yeah, it's Jack Snakes a little too much for Kennesaw State. But Kennesaw State, we see you, baby. We see you on the rise. It's coming up. Come on.
Brent Davis
Last one. There is a Miami team playing in the championship game this weekend. It's just not the one that. That's many would like. It's the Redhawks. The Miami Ohio playing Western Michigan in the Mac. Western Michigan looking to avenge their only conference loss. I think they do. Give me the. Give me the Western Michigan. What?
Brent's Co-Host (possibly a football analyst or commentator)
Oh, gosh. That's where PJ Fleck was.
Brent Davis
Also the same as the Denver team.
Brent's Co-Host (possibly a football analyst or commentator)
Broncos.
Brent Davis
Broncos.
Brent's Co-Host (possibly a football analyst or commentator)
Dude, let me tell you something. Coldest game day I've ever been to in my life. Western Michigan, bro. Cephas.
Brent Davis
Like yes, we not like North Dakota not.
Brent's Co-Host (possibly a football analyst or commentator)
I was like frozen my eyes trying to talk on my face like this. I was like, I was trying to be serious like Mr. Commentator Guy and break things down and I'm like.
And I'm like drool. I'm like, who did they play?
Brent Davis
Why did you. I don't remember this. I don't remember this.
Brent's Co-Host (possibly a football analyst or commentator)
PJ flag had it rolling. I don't remember who they played, man. It was a long time ago. But you know what, like, hold on. We did go to South Dakota. Was, was mother freaking miserable too. So that one wasn't. Wasn't fun either. But yeah, like that was probably not.
Brent Davis
Pack well enough either.
Brent's Co-Host (possibly a football analyst or commentator)
That's a memorable, a memorable moment for sure.
Brent Davis
All right, so we do, we every week we do this sort of numbers don't lie piece within the, within the program. We. And it's usually PFF related. But I'm going to go sort of a little trivia for you here with this, with this last piece.
Brent's Co-Host (possibly a football analyst or commentator)
Okay.
Brent Davis
How many like have you thought about, ever thought about this? Stop and thought the number of FBS teams that are good at football in the state of Alabama. You got Bam at 10 and 2 in the SEC championship game.
Brent's Co-Host (possibly a football analyst or commentator)
Yeah.
Brent Davis
Auburn's 5 and 7, you know. Yes. But they had, you know, very talented big time sec team. Troy's 8 and 4. We just talked about him. Jack State in the champ. Troy in the championship game. Jack State 8 and 4 in the championship game. That's amazing when they are the 24th highest state in the country in population 5.1 million people. So my trivia question to you. Which state has a Power 4 school but has the lowest population?
Brent's Co-Host (possibly a football analyst or commentator)
Powerful.
Brent Davis
Now I might, I might be wrong. I, I, maybe I missed one.
Brent's Co-Host (possibly a football analyst or commentator)
So it only has one Power 4 school in it.
Brent Davis
Correct.
Brent's Co-Host (possibly a football analyst or commentator)
Okay.
Brent Davis
And it's the lowest. It's Nebraska school with the lowest state population. They are second lowest.
Brent's Co-Host (possibly a football analyst or commentator)
Dang it.
Brent Davis
They have 2 million people.
Brent's Co-Host (possibly a football analyst or commentator)
All right, it's not Iowa because they got Iowa and Iowa State.
It's not Missouri. No. They got Kansas. They got power. I got another power four.
GoFundMe Announcer
It's maybe staring right at you.
Brent's Co-Host (possibly a football analyst or commentator)
What is it?
Brent Davis
It's staring right at you.
Brent's Co-Host (possibly a football analyst or commentator)
West Virginia.
Brent Davis
West. By God, West Virginia only has 1.7 million people.
So they're the like lowest state population with a powerful school. And then Mississippi has two, obviously, but they have 2.9 million in terms of state population. But that, it just amazes me because you think about summer, all summer all did really well at Troy Troy's always been sort of a solid, really good program. And then you've got Bam and Auburn. And what also got me thinking, there's in the game.
The Iron Bowl, I think it said that 92 or 93 players from the state of Alabama on those rosters.
Brent's Co-Host (possibly a football analyst or commentator)
I think it was 80 something, but that's 80. It was 80.
Brent Davis
80 low 80s, but still, that's amazing that that much talent exists in a state that's, you know, well, not, not the biggest state.
Brent's Co-Host (possibly a football analyst or commentator)
They take their football pretty serious. Just a little bit, just a smidge. And listen, there ain't nothing wrong with that. That is not an insult. But.
Brent Davis
No, but anyway, there's your random sort of numbers don't lie for championship weekend.
Brent's Co-Host (possibly a football analyst or commentator)
Appreciate that.
Brent Davis
State of Alabama.
Brent's Co-Host (possibly a football analyst or commentator)
That's a good one, Alabama. God bless you. All right. I love Christmas music. We have not made any bones about that. Christmas music is the best. The holiday season means Christmas concerts are in high demand. If you don't go to them, I can't help you. But I love them. I love to go to them. I've been to a bunch. I go to them every year. So if you have time to see them 100%. And if you're trying to catch the concert, a concert in the next couple weeks or get tickets to a big show as a gift for someone, for something that's coming around the corner, like maybe Christmas, like right around the corner. Use game time. It's the best. Man. Here's why I love gametime, gametime co and the gametime app. It's easy to use. You get a panoramic view from your seat from the app, which I think is dope. Like, because you need to know where everything is, right? Like you need to know where, where you're at compared to everything else. You get last minute deals on tickets right up to the start of the event. You get the lowest prices. Guaranteed. Guaranteed or game time will credit you. How about this? 110% of the difference. So they're going to pay you back if you don't get the best deal. So tell me how it gets any better than that. Like none of these fees or surprises at checkout. That's all gone. Like you're going to see what you're going to get. See ball, get ball. Listeners, you're welcome. This is music to your ears. Use the promo code Pollock. Get $20 off your first game time purchase. No joke. Don't be a grinch. It's the holiday season promo code Pollock. $20 off. Get a seat at a concert Or a sporting event. You want to hit it up right now? Go get it. All right. Podium kings. We do it every week. It's always a lot of fun.
You know? What have we heard? We got a lot of new coaches in new places that are saying a lot of new things. So, Wesley.
Get it cracking. Oh, that's what I'm talking about.
Brent Davis
I was.
Ryan (Podium guest or contributor)
I wasn't planning on this, but here we are.
Brent's Co-Host (possibly a football analyst or commentator)
No, no, you got to tell the people what we got.
Ryan (Podium guest or contributor)
This is Ryan. Okay, here's.
Brent's Co-Host (possibly a football analyst or commentator)
Where's Kate? There she is. Yeah, she just popped in. Hey, Kate.
Ryan (Podium guest or contributor)
That's right. Mr. Davis saying hi.
Brent Davis
All right, come here, podium.
Ryan (Podium guest or contributor)
All right, I'm gonna hop off for a minute.
Brent's Co-Host (possibly a football analyst or commentator)
We got Brittany, too. I like that. That's what I'm talking about. Like, then we got the whole. We got the whole West Blankenship squad.
All right, Podium, kid. Get it.
American Giant Announcer
All right.
Ryan (Podium guest or contributor)
We're gonna go with, of course, Lane Kiffin. Introductory press conference at lsu.
Ed Ozron
We're going by Tiger Stadium. I call one person. I called Ed Ozron, and I said, hey, man, all I can do is. Man, this place just makes me want to talk like you right now.
Brent's Co-Host (possibly a football analyst or commentator)
I did.
Ed Ozron
I was like. We were in the car, and the kids were in there, and I was like. And I was like, the coaches, and they're like, what are you doing? I'm like, I don't know. I'm, like, channeling Ed right now. I was like, I'm feeling him like I rolled down the window. And I was like, go tag us to the fans. And I'm like. So I called out, I said, I don't know what's going on, man, but I'm feeling you right now. And he's like, coach, you at the best place in America.
Brent's Co-Host (possibly a football analyst or commentator)
Yeah, coach.
Ryan (Podium guest or contributor)
Oh, baby. Nothing like him. We're all sec. Next up. Down in Gainesville, John Summerall summoned it up. Does he hire his friends?
Brent's Co-Host (possibly a football analyst or commentator)
Well, I don't hire my friends.
Honestly, when I took my first head coaching job, I lost some friends maybe. Or at least for a little while. They were like, you know, I thought we were buddies. I'm like, we are. That doesn't mean you're the right fit here.
Where'd you figure that? So everyone who's on staff is. Is. Is very well aware that they're not friends with you. So you just told everybody, like, hey, we're gonna build a lot of this and unity and love and friendships and row the boat in the same direction and do great things, but just know, I don't give a Crap about you, not your friend.
Ryan (Podium guest or contributor)
I hate your guts.
Brent's Co-Host (possibly a football analyst or commentator)
I don't. I don't love that that much. I'm not gonna lie.
Ryan (Podium guest or contributor)
Last one. Down on the plains, we had coach Hugh Freeze on. He addressed these rumors, but the joke is just never going to go away down at all.
Brent Davis
My question to you is, do you like to play golf?
Brent's Co-Host (possibly a football analyst or commentator)
So it's a setup question. Been here long enough to know that.
American Giant Announcer
I.
Brent Davis
Like football more than golf.
Brent's Co-Host (possibly a football analyst or commentator)
And I'm terrible.
Okay.
Ryan (Podium guest or contributor)
Off to a good start already, Leslie.
Brent's Co-Host (possibly a football analyst or commentator)
No, no, no, no. He didn't say he didn't play golf. He said football more than golf. So don't give me he doesn't like golf, and he might not play golf. By the way, Hugh Freeze was on yesterday. We had him on. He was un. First sit down. He did, and it was fantastic. And I think if you. If you watched it, you probably. I. Let's put it this way. I got a lot of text about saying, like, I didn't know Hugh Freeze was that cool or, like, I'm cheering for him at his next stop. He was very honest man about the feelings he had. And. But I like that. I like that our boy. Boy Golish, you know, doesn't like golf because golf is hard. Golf is very, very difficult. All right, final closing thoughts to wrap up the show. It's just a thought. Today's national signing day. Did you know that? I didn't know that. I. I actually know that because I have a kid that I coach right down the road that's signing with Georgia today in a little bit. I'm about to go to it. But, like, remember when this used to be like Christmas for fans? Like, I remember the Butsmere at Georgia being swamped with fans, like, waiting for the facts to come in. Excitement. So jacked up. What do we get this year? What is our presence? We got this guy. We got this guy.
Anybody talking about it? Anybody know what's going on? Like, hey, I got a great idea. Let's go shopping. Y' all want to go shopping today? Let's go shopping for groceries. I don't know what I have at the house. I'm just going to go shopping. I didn't look. I didn't pay attention to the pantry. That's what the calendar does to you now, bro. Let's go shopping before we know how many people leave our program. It's a great idea, man. Anyways, the calendar sucks. We've talked about the calendar, and it sucks. But I just remember the day when this was freaking awesome and everybody loved it, and everybody got so excited and. And obviously, it means less. You're signing less people, and there's a transfer portal coming. But, you know, there's a lot of kids high school dreams, man, that they're getting met today. Like, it's what they've dreamed about for a long time, what they've waited for, what they've prayed for, what they've worked for. And so congratulations across the country to all the kids signing at all the universities to pursue their dreams, man, not to pursue education, to pursue their dreams, to pursue football, continue to play and make their families proud, make their coaches proud. And we will see you dudes this weekend, because Saturday we'll be here to recap all the championship games. There's going to be a bunch of them. There'll be some on Friday night, too. That'll be really, really good. But we look forward to seeing you guys here back at Seaball. Get ball. Thank you so much for rating, subscribing all that stuff, man. We keep growing, and you guys are the reason. Thank you so much. Have a great day.
