Brent Rollins
Get it. Welcome to C Ball. Get Ball quarterfinals, baby. Christmas right around the Kona. Interested? You can hit up the chat. By the way, what. Which, what are you. What are you asking for for Christmas? You can put it in there if you want to. A lot of teams want an old miss victory. A lot of teams want a Texas Tech victory, an Indiana victory over Alabama. Like a lot of things to for sure to ask for. We do this every week. Brent Rollins on three. Pff. He's always here with us. Knows the numbers inside and out, watches the games, loves the games. We it. Here we are. We Are very different. We are very unique at Seball. Get ball. We're not about the gambling, we're not about the cursing. We're just about ball, like, from all the different angles. We love it and we hope you do, too. We'll give you some picks, baby, because it's that time. And we'll start with the college football first game. The first game is going to be Miami versus Ohio State.
Co-host Analyst
And how are you, how confident do you feel now given that you're. I mean, what are we, nine days out from this game? Do you feel it's great, like, hey, this is my pick. Not right now. And it's going to be my pick nine days from now.
Brent Rollins
I hate picking him this early. I really do. I don't know why, because not a lot changes. But, you know, like, just. I think it's interesting with all these games, like, you got Ohio State, you got Texas Tech, you got Indiana, you got Georgia. And the reason I said, those four teams, they all four have buys, right? And last year we saw all of them lose. Now listen, who got the buys last year is a different story as well. That wasn't all across the board. It wasn't the best four teams. Teams. But how much of an advantage is it that they got to play? And especially with Oregon, who gets a tune up, and Ole Miss, who gets a tune up and no chance to lose whatsoever. So I'm, I'm. I mean, just, it's. It's a good problem to have. Now, listen, Dan Lanning was still upset and yelling at his guys and, and was, was telling everybody how disappointed he was and the way they, they finished it. But, but, but this is the time of year, man. Like, here's what's cool about these games. Like Miami, Ohio State. How long were we on this program talking about who's better in the beginning of the year, Miami or Ohio State? Well, we're here now. We get to settle it out. Like, we talked about Oregon all year long. We talked about Texas Tech. We get to settle it Indiana, Alabama, they've never played ever in the history of their school. Like, in the history of both of their schools. One is a perennial power. One is a perennial basement cellar. Like, they get to go against each other basement.
Co-host Analyst
Yeah.
Brent Rollins
So, like, there's just, there's good storylines. And this week, the good thing is there's good games. So we'll start with. Let's start with. Are you gonna do the chips and dip thing and all that stuff again?
Co-host Analyst
No, I actually didn't. I didn't. Because they're all. They're all nugget platter.
Brent Rollins
They're all nugget platters. Just get in there.
Co-host Analyst

Brent Rollins
I want to know it. Let's go.
Co-host Analyst
No bake cookies.
Brent Rollins
What is that?
Co-host Analyst
What it's called a no bake cookie.
Brent Rollins
Why is it called no bake?
Co-host Analyst
Because you don't bake them. It's just. You just a soft chewing ones and then. And then it hardens itself. Yeah, it's peanut butter, chocolate, cocoa.
Brent Rollins
Okay.
Co-host Analyst
I mean, it's like a. It's just really good. And it's the one time creative says fruitcake. I don't.
NHTSA Public Service Announcer
Okay.
Co-host Analyst

Brent Rollins
Hey, but just. Just for y' all in the chat purposes, because we're all starting to be family here. Like, everybody in the ch.
Co-host Analyst
That.
Brent Rollins
And you're starting to get to know us more and more. I don't believe in indulging in any season. Christmas, birthdays, Thanksgiving, we're going to know each other more and more. So I would just throw that out there. Like, food is fuel. We don't need the. We don't need the good stuff. There's nothing that I'm really looking forward to eating. I know that's a Baham bug scrooge, but we keep it real. On the chat with you guys. I'm sorry, that's just. We're going to keep it real. But you know what? Ross Meyer. I'll bring the wood. He said let's bring the wood tonight. Dp. I'll bring the wood. I promise you that.
Co-host Analyst
So common theme. You know, you talked about the buys, and the interesting part about that is when you look at the team, the theme of these teams. To me, the one common theme with all these teams, even Ole Miss, to a certain extent, is defense and scoring defense. You have 1, 2, 3, 6, 9, 10, 13 and 22 in the FBS in terms of scoring defense. Whereas offensively, like, there. For a while, we had a stretch where all the best offenses were the teams that were.
Brent Rollins
If you couldn't score 30 a couple years ago, you couldn't get in this thing. Like, you couldn't win. Like. And it's amazing. The NFL's like this too now, like, and here. And to me, here's the reason why it's changed more and more, because defenses have now evolved and there's more and more Hybrid position guys who are out on offense for a number of years. There's more and more confusion. There's more and more people that are willing to now rotate structure post snap and confuse quarterbacks. There was the longest time, man, where literally like. Got redded. Now defenses, man, like you watch all of these defense, even with great players, man, they're not just sitting there, they're not just non moving targets. Oh, we're going to out execute you guys, not bull crap. Like we're going to confuse the absolute piss out of you. That's our job. Defensively, Georgia is a perfect example. I can't wait to watch the Georgia matchup because of that. Like they thought in the beginning of the season they were Georgia and hey, we're going to line up and we're going to beat you. We're not that good. Like it's not going to happen that way. So all these teams, not only are they talented, they've got good scheme, they've got good pass rush. There's just a lot of things that are really good and really in depth to talk about. But that's one of the common themes as I went through all these games. And we'll get into the next, we'll get into the games. Every single one of them, man. Every single team. There is not a team in this thing that will win the whole thing without running the football well. Like you will not play one dimensional football in college football in this playoff and go win. You could do that a couple of years ago if you could create explosives and throw the football around, you couldn't be stopped. If you don't have balance, you will lose like every single one of these teams I kept writing down, you need balance, you need B. Ohio State, two, two first round wide receivers, they need balance. Like so that's a common theme across the board in the defense is rearing its ugly head. Freaking love it. C ball, get ball. D. This is a defensive podcast, baby.
Co-host Analyst
It's also, you know, we pff and we have the promo code in the, in the chat that if you want to look at that or the, the link below description. Eight of the 11 top sort of highest overall graded teams are what we have left and unfortunately for Notre Dame, they're the highest non college football playoff.
Brent Rollins
Man, how about that? How about that fart you did the other day? You just farted on Notre Dame fans and walked out. Just crop dusted everybody like yeah, Notre Dame. Sorry, you're not in it, bro.
Co-host Analyst
All right, well, all right. Miami, Ohio State, rematch of a Long time ago. I do think it's interesting that I saw some highlights of the. That national championship game with all those phenomenal players. And I'd forgotten that Ken Dorsey wore number 11, which is. Beck is wearing two. Yeah.
Brent Rollins
Was that O2?
Co-host Analyst
Yeah.
Brent Rollins
Can you name the quarterback that played for Ohio State?
Co-host Analyst
Craig Krenzel?
Brent Rollins
Yes. Molecular genetics by bioengineer. I played with him in Ohio or at Cleveland or Cincinnati, the Bengals. Can you name the biggest play in that football game?
Co-host Analyst
I mean, something to do with Maurice Colorett, if I remember right.
Brent Rollins
Stripping the football. They threw a pick. Krenzel threw a pick claret. Took the ball right out from his hands. Biggest play of the game, obviously the no call at the end. Miami fans kind of has a. Still has a gripe with, but fifth ever meeting between the two. Ohio State is three and two in the. In the matchups. So it will be another fun one, I think, too.
Co-host Analyst
All right, so I've got sort of questions for each of these games and, and we'll sort of maybe at least lead the discussion with these games off with. With that. So the first one, Ohio State's offensive line, how will they hold up and how will they do against Miami's defensive line? Bain and Mezador combined for 18 pressures. I reckon Texas A&M, 18, 18, 8.
Brent Rollins
That's a lot.
Co-host Analyst
Mezador had 11.
Brent Rollins
That's not. That's not a small amount for, for you people that don't know about charting at home. Like, a good game for a defensive end is having like four or five pressures. Like, that's a pretty solid game. Like, hey, I got to the quarterback. I affected him four or five times. 18 is insanely stupid. Like, that is just absolutely stupid. So again, Ohio State's offensive line, I'm going to go back to the theme. They have a zero percent chance of being successful if Bo Jackson in the running game doesn't get going. If they can't create some balance. And I'm not saying they got to rush for 300 yards. They got to hit 100, though. It's not a surprise. Look, look at Ohio State's losses, man. What do they have in common? They played against Texas, they played against Indiana. They didn't have balance. And they scored less than 24 points in both those games combined. Like, it's not a surprise. They have to have the balance to unlock. Saying to unlock the receivers out on the outside. So, like, it's not a knock on them. It's just the defensive pass rush from Miami is so good. And they're going to get you. Now, listen, Miami's good at stopping the run, too. And if. If we're talking about it's a front game, like, Miami's better, like Miami's bet. Here's what's crazy. When I looked at this game and I started to break it down, British Miami's better on both sides of the line of scrimmage. Miami's offensive line, to me, is better than Ohio State's. Miami's defensive line is better than Ohio State's. Like, and that's saying something because I think Ohio State's defensive line is really, really good. So, I mean, just think Ohio State fans, they're probably like, yes, you're going to pick against us. You're going to pick against us. You're talking about how ungood we are. I'm just talking about those individual matchups.
Co-host Analyst
Their individual matchups.
Brent Rollins
There's a whole lot to go into it.
Co-host Analyst
Well, and I saw that the. The right guard, Shabola Tabola. I don't know how you pronounce his name. I'm just say it fast.
Brent Rollins
Say it fast.
Co-host Analyst
But I know he's out for a few weeks at least. At least. That's what I saw. The sort of quote for the game and that Van Sickle, who played toward the end of that game and then Padilla, who played and rotated some earlier, would be playing right guard. Fan Sickles played more. Padilla is maybe more talented. Of the two, like, that's an interesting piece. So you got a backup lineman going against Miami's front. You. I don't know if you saw this, but Ryan Day said he was going to be calling plays.
Brent Rollins
He is. Yep.
Co-host Analyst
During the College Football Playoff. I think that's a wrinkle.
Brent Rollins
Well, that's smart. And it's nothing against Brian Hartline, but Heartline is a really good football coach. He's a good coordinator. Ryan Day is a smart man. To me, because Heartline's distracted. Whether you like it or not, it's part of the job. He's taking another job. He's building another culture. He's doing transfer portal. Ryan Day's good at this. He's not, like, average at this. He's good at this. And the one thing I always appreciated about Ryan Day, play calling. You know what Ryan Day does? As good a job as anybody. Your safeties are going to be challenged.

Going to be like a dink and dunk. It's going to be like I'm going to stretch you over here to over here. I'm going to take shots. I know how to keep you distracted. It's like those people like me that sometimes you just like go over here and then you slap them side back of the head. Like you got to give them something to look at and then something to come across the formation. Such a good job of stretching safeties, passing the ball down the field vertical. So I do think the Ryan Day play calling, it's, it's a, it's a point to bring up. I also think it's a good thing for Ohio State. I do not think it's a bad thing.
Co-host Analyst
Yeah, one of the things I forgot to mention with, with Ohio State's offensive line, Indiana covered really well in that game because Julian Saenz average time to throw in that game was 3.42 seconds. That's the highest and sort of longest that a QB's hold held the ball for Ohio State in the last three years in a game. Usually it's hey, balls out in pretty good rhythm with their offense and it was not the case against Indiana. So that's one where Ohio or if Miami covers to that extent, then.
Brent Rollins
Well, and what's really, what's really good about that, if I'm a Miami fan and I want to conjure up this, this way of winning, like, there's a lot of pass rushers, okay. There's a multitude of win ways to win in, in. In pass rush. Okay. You can get a sack because of the secondary, 100%. Like, you just keep working, you get a sack, you can win right away with your primary move. Miami does that a lot. Like, they win fast. So that means that ball has to come out fast. Because my foot's in the ground, I'm not seeing much. Again, changing the picture and winning fast is a good recipe for success. Like, you've got to get, you got to make a really quick decision, get that ball out so they can win fast and then they can also win with counter moves. That's another way to get sacks. Like first move, counter move to get another one. So yeah, that, that's the key, right? Like, because you did it all year long, Brent, you bragged on Julian saying and his accuracy. And I said the same thing all year long to you. Like, I get it. But dude hasn't been pressured because he hasn't played very many good teams. Like Texas looked very human, played Indiana looked very human. And you gave me the, oh my God, look at this completion percentage. It's the greatest in the history of pff. Like, outstanding. Like, I'm, listen, I'm very interested to see this dude, like, it's going to be a tougher, it's going to be a tough matchup. He's going to get Beat. Does he have his answers? Does the ball come out? So I think it's going to be awesome for saying that, but I think there needs to be some form of balance. And listen, same thing with the other side. Like, it's not a secret for Miami. Like, Miami's got to run the football. Like, Miami has to play ground and pound. They built their team. When, when, when, when. When our guy crystal ball came on the show, he talked. He said, we built this team on big, powerful, strong individuals like Francis at right tackle. Right, like, 619, 303, 3666 pounds. Like enormous human being. Can you move Ohio State and those guys and get the run game? Because. Because I got news for you, man. When you look at McDonald inside, like, that dude's a. That dude's a horse. Like, for Ohio State, I don't see him get driven back very often. Like, you look at Curry, Curry's eating. Like, he's been doing really good. You look at Jackson, he's good up front. Like, they've got some guys up front. You know what's interesting, Brent and I'll be interested to see this and how this plays out. When I watch Ohio State's pass rush, a lot, a lot of bull rush. A lot, a lot of power. Like, those guys are powerful guys that push. You don't want to run down the middle of Miami's guys. I don't think you want to do that. That's not the way you want to be living. You want to run. You want to get on edges. You want to make them move their feet, not go down the middle of them. Like, now, Arvell Reese, different animal. Okay? That's a different human being, and he's got that twitch, and he can go around you, go through you. But that's where I think it'll be a Goliath type matchup with those. With those two powerhouses.
Co-host Analyst
All right, so speaking of Miami's running game, we talked about this after the a. M. Game, and I think more and more, you. And we knew it was a factor, but more and more, you hear how much the wind was a factor in just destroying the passing games in that game.
Brent Rollins
But the.
Co-host Analyst
The pistol part of it, and they talked about on the broadcast, they're like, hey, we noticed that Elko does a lot of stuff to his D based on how the back is. So we went more pistol. So I looked it up. They had 44 total plays this season from the pistol, 17 versus A and M. So almost 40% of them were in that Game. Do you think that continues?
Brent Rollins
If you're smart, I would do. Why would you put Carson back in the shotgun and give them a tell? Because he can't run. Like he can buy enough time to make something happen, sure. But no, the pistol. And again, for those of those that don't understand what the pistol is, here's the quarterback, here's the running back. He stacks directly behind him. Why do you do that? If we stack him like this, for those that can see. So the fist is to the right of the quarterback. So you got the quarterback right here. And directly to his right is the running back. I can tell you what plays they're going to run based on where this guy is. This guy, this guy on the right can't run to the right unless it's a toss, which is a slow developing play that goes out wide that I can try to run down. When you stack him behind him, he can go left, he can go right. Those visuals are amazing. By the way, if you're watching on YouTube, you're getting the full fist element here. So I think it helps them. And then you can still have the sticking in the belly real quick, throw it quick out wide. But like, yeah, to crash tendencies to make you play a little bit more balanced and honest, right? Like, that's what you want. You want defenses to play honest. Especially when you got a quarterback who can't run. Now, if you got a quarterback that can run and you stick in that belly of the running back going to the left and the quarterback can go to the right, now you've got. Now you've caused hesitation. Now you've caused somebody to slow down a little bit. So that, that's an interesting part. And then too, man, like the Beck component, when you protect Beck, he's really good. When Beck knows where to go with the football. He's really good, man. Like, really, really good. He's. He's elite level good. He's NFL Sunday level good. Matt Patricia, NFL Sunday coach. Can you change the picture, right? Can you make it muddy? Because Carson also, when you change the picture on and you get him, you usually get him.
Co-host Analyst
Like, you get him, get him, get.
Brent Rollins
The ball, you get the ball, you get big plays, big mistakes. So that's a huge part of Patricia and him being able to. To show them something, change it and create a little bit of doubt in Carson Beck's head. And then when he hands onto the football, that's not. When he does his good work, when he's second play reaction, that's not his best Work. His best work is catching the ball, getting rid of it. And so you got to stop him from doing that, which means cause some doubt if I'm Ohio State. And listen, how do you do that? You have brilliant players like Caleb Downs, and you got corners that can do multiple things and you got linebackers that can freaking run all over the place, make plays. Arvell Reese and Downs. It's literally like, where is Waldo? Yes. Like, Styles is an animal. Like, they can all do so many different things. And the thing that was impressive about this defensive line, a lot of times your defensive line's job is to keep guys off of your studs. Like, let Downs make plays, let Styles make plays, let Reese make plays. I don't let you. You saw a lot of double teams in Miami and they were getting to the second level and doing really well. That's a bad job by a defensive line that's on the defensive line. You can't let them do this and double team someone and work up to a backer. Like, you've got to attack and split that guy and make them stay on you. And if you got to cheat and hold them, you cheat and hold them.
Co-host Analyst
Right?
Brent Rollins
Like, you don't let them get up to the next level. So that's where I think the Ohio State defensive line has done such a good job. And. But if you think this is going to be a blowout, I disagree. I think this is going to be a really good football game.
Co-host Analyst
I am. I was so close to. In terms of pick, like so close to pulling the trigger and picking Miami, but you did. I almost felt like we're kind of potentially destined at least. I obviously covered Georgia, so I thought we were maybe destined to get a Carson back versus Georgia game. But because of one reason. If you look at the worst unit, at least from a grading perspective, now a lot of times they do it because of the speed and they get multiple bodies there. But Miami's the worst tackling team in the whole playoff. Or that's left. They missed 15 versus a M. Like you. You. Yes, you speed and you recover from it. I just don't know that they're going to tackle well enough in this game. Now. They do. It's. It's coin flip game. But to me, it's. I. I picked Ohio State 20 to 17. I don't think this is going to be a high scoring game. I think this is going to be a lot like the Big Ten championship game. Maybe not that quite low scoring, but yeah, this is. I think these are two Teams that are just going to beat the crap out of each other.
Brent Rollins
Well. And so special teams, you know who could have an advantage? Ohio State. Big time miss kick. 27 yarder. That was not athletic ability. Right. That was not legal. That was. Sorry. Got something in my throat. That was a. That was a bad job at the wrong time. Are you, are you worried about that? Miami's kicker just missed 35 field goals. Like, right. Like, goodness gracious.
Co-host Analyst
Yes, the win was bad, but I.
Brent Rollins
Don'T give a shit about your stupid win.
NHTSA Public Service Announcer
Whatever.
Brent Rollins
Your job is to kick. That's all you do is kick. That's all you do. You kick every day, all day. You kick. You should, you should make kicks.
Co-host Analyst
Which, speaking of that, I was mad he didn't adjust on the second one. Yeah, I felt like adjust for the win on the second one. But anyway, never mind.
Brent Rollins
Yeah, I'm going, I'm going Ohio State too. Like, I've kind of. I learned my lesson last year with Ohio State. I think Ohio State's. I think they got a really good chance to win this whole thing. Like, I think they're the team to beat, actually. But I am so curious to see how they handle some pressure because they haven't seen it. But I think this is a. I think this is a 20, 21 to 17 type game. 21 to 14. Ohio State's defense, though, to me, it's just the versatility, the coverage, the. The ability to do multiple things. I just think it's. It's a little too much for an offense that's too. It's too Tony dependent. It's too much dependent on 10. I just got a feeling that 10's going to be taken away. Like, got to take him away. Who are those other guys that can make plays? I saw it early in the season, so I'm didn't see it later in the season. I want to see those guys win outside because I think Ohio State's going to challenge everyone and make sure they take away 10.
Co-host Analyst
With Patricia, it's almost like you think back to what would Belichick do? And all those type of games where you have one individually, great player. He's like, all right, I'm going to put my number one guy on your number two.
Brent Rollins
Yep.
Co-host Analyst
And then I'm just going to double team your best guy all game long. That's what he'd do. So I'm curious to see if Patricia kind of follows that. That mode.
Brent Rollins
But.
Co-host Analyst
All right.
Brent Rollins
We didn't mention Mark Fletcher Jr. Just mentioned him real quick. If he can tuck that rock and he can get that running game going. It changes everything. Like Miami doesn't have to go crazy and open things up. So he's the one guy that can really. He enforced his physicality and playmaking in the game. He was the difference in A and M game. Like it was solely him. Listen, the guys up front had something to do with it before and breaking tackles and that long strides in playmaking. He was big time. So him or Bo Jackson, who makes those plays that. That keeps the offense balanced.
Co-host Analyst
Didn't you comp him to like smaller Derrick Henry or maybe it was me that did. Like one of us. I feel like one of us said that. But just watching him. His strides and then watching Derek Henry run in the Sunday night game, just the thick long stride. It's very. Just a lighter version, obviously. Smaller version, but much smaller still. All right. Orange Bowl, January 1st, New Year's Day. Happy New Year. Oregon, Texas Tech. I heard Dan Lanning say today that he thought. He thinks it should be a home game for Texas Tech. I agree, but it's not fun. They're in Miami. So question number one.
Brent Rollins
Oregon, Oren's gotta. Oregon's got to go all the way to Miami. That's a long way to go.
Co-host Analyst
Is Char. Is Baron Morton a different player after the time off?
Brent Rollins
He better be. He better be. Because if Morton's not, if he doesn't have the ability to scramble and just buy a little bit of time because. Because we've seen it from him, man. Like we've seen the backyard ball plays and that. We've seen the ability. But dude's been in a walking boot and not very healthy and hasn't practiced much. So has he had that time to recover and bring some balance to this offense? This offense is not really diverse. It doesn't have the ability to do a whole lot. It doesn't change things. Morton hasn't been able to run either. So it's very run inside dependent. Like he's not pulling the ball and making a bunch of plays because of that. Now Dickey and Williams are both really good backs, man. And I, it's the best two players on their offense. Like this team starts with the running backs to me and it's catching and it's running like they can. Williams can take anything and go to the house immediately. Dickie has Levy on Bell type patience. Like sets up blocks and then hits the hole. Breaks tackles like it's the line of scrimmage for Texas Tech. Can they create that? Can they run the football and then here's the thing with Morton. I don't need you to run. I don't need you to run for 55 yards, 60 yards. I need you to avoid sacks and I need you to take shots. Like I need you to take shots down the field. Because if this offense can be run play action, man, does it make the running game getter better? And the play action passes down the field like they've got some speedsters take advantage of it. When they get in the red, can they run the football right? Can they be physical? Can they punch it in? Because they're one of the worst red zone teams in the country. Like they have to find ways when they do get in those spots to run the football or to throw it in. And what have they been working on? Listen, their system. I like what they've become. They've become Carter and Miller at tight end who are both lead blockers basically and fullbacks that can lead and pull and like they do a pretty good job with getting their backs a little bit of space. But you know, you asked about the offense. That's not why I think Texas Tech has a chance to win this football game.
Co-host Analyst
But I very has to be better. But you look at so his two games versus BYU and then the one versus Utah that he eventually left that game. 57 passing grade, 59.6 completion, 5 turnover. The plays, he wasn't his best in those three. Now granted it didn't matter because of the other side, but I, I feel that's going to be a little bit different there.
Brent Rollins
So let's think about what did you. But what did you think about Oregon's defense versus JMU? Because I don't think JMU's a powerhouse by any stretch. But I loved JMU's offense and their plan. Like they were plan. They were consistently dialing up things that worked. Like I was kind of shocked. Like it should have worked better, it should have worked at a higher level. But again they're doing things they're, they're on like they're on fast forward motion for them. They're like trying to do everything faster because they're not used to things happening as fast as they did. Like they're, it's just, it's like playing a video game that like it's just lagging, you know, and you're just like, oh crap, how do I catch up with it? But I didn't leave impressed with Oregon's defense and that's why Dan was pissed, right? Like, but I, I left being like, okay, that that defense is vulnerable, like they can give up some plays and.
Co-host Analyst
Running QB for you, I think is the big thing. And their, their scheme is unique. And I mean, heck, what was a third and seven? They had the double pass early, which was awesome. But you know, they kind of. I, But I think to me it's more so the running QB element than every. Anything else. And you obviously don't get that when you get, when you get Texas Tech this week, not in this round or next week, actually. So spin the other side. Can Oregon continue to run the ball? Well, because Texas Tech gave up 10 to Utah, seven each time to BYU and they are the number one run defense in the country at 68 yards per game.
Brent Rollins
I, you know, you know what? This really excites me about this game because, Because Oregon obviously is the. Is. I think they're the best in the country running the football. Like, they're so good. They're explosive. They're one of the best. We'll. We'll put them in the top three. They're. They're in the top three in the game. And they've leaned on that, man. Like banged up receivers. They've leaned on it. There's a lot of people that I think out there are like, this Texas Tech team is cute. Like, it's cute. It's a cute little concert. It's a cute little conference. Like, it's a cool little story. Come play some big boy football. This is a bunch of gam. There's a bunch of gams on, on Texas Tech. You know what that means? That means grown ace, man. That's. There's a bunch of those dudes along the front. If you think this is just a cute story with Texas Tech and they just got a good Big 12 defense, you about to find out. You about to find out in a big way. They got multiple first round picks on that defensive line. They got some linebackers that can flow, that feel the game, that can run. Oregon is not, and I quote, not going to line up and pound the Red Raiders. That Shiznik. Ain't going to happen. It ain't going to happen. There's no way in no world that's going to happen. Now do they have speed and playmakers and a quarterback that can play make. You're dang right they do. You need that. You need, you need that to. To beat Texas Tech, to create explosives, to have some form of a balance. If you don't have balance, bro, like, you better be good under pressure. Dante Moore is going to be scrambling when you saw him against Penn State. He had to make some plays with his feet. You saw him against Indiana, had to make some plays with his feet. Everybody, it's a common thread. Every quarterback becomes mortal when they have to. When they get pressured a little bit, right. Like their numbers continue to dip. Dante's Moore's athletic ability though, might be big. Can he get away from some of these guys? But Bailey and company on the defensive line, if you think it's cute and you think they're just kind of okay, you're going to find out like these dudes, these dudes are legit and they're going to make Oregon work for this. There ain't no doubt.
Co-host Analyst
And we've talked about earlier in the season, specifically when Texas Tech played Utah, the sort of NFL scouts dream matchup with Fanu and Lomu for Texas or for Utah going against Bailey and Height for Texas Tech. Isaiah, you know, world and hockey, you know, you want to, you want to show that you're a high, you know, NFL level tackle, which I think we're, you know, I think both of them kind of are. But you want to show it. This is the game to show it. I did the court. So Decori Moore played 19 snaps receiver for Oregon. Gary Bryant played eight. Was that the, hey, let's get them in, let's get them sort of in. It wasn't like they were massively targeted and big part of the game from an office standpoint, but they didn't need to be. So does that tick up and are they kind of a full go for this game? I'll be curious to see that. In the end I went with the Ducks mainly because in that last little bit I'm going to trust and take the better quarterback when I think a lot of other things are going to be canceling the Gator out.
Brent Rollins
Yeah, I think my biggest. I really wanted to take Texas Tech. I wanted to. But the offense, man, it's just hard to get behind like in Virgil can make plays and they'll, they'll make some plays but like to execute the way that they to, to put drives together and, and have to complete third downs consistently. And it's just hard. Like everything with the Texas Tech offense is hard. Oregon can go one play, Oregon can throw some screens. Oregon's got a triple head monster at the running back position that I think can just rotate and pound. But I do think, I do think this is low scoring. Oregon's made plays in the clutch minus the Indiana game. You've seen Dante Moore with his flatlining personality. I think he scrambles. He makes one more play than them. But I think this is 20 to 17. Like I think this is super low scoring. And give me the Ducks because remember I said they're One of the four teams that can win this puppy.
Co-host Analyst
20 to 17. The exact score that I typed out in red.
Brent Rollins
Beautiful.
Co-host Analyst
So we're in agreement on that one. Next up, Rose Bowl Granddaddy of the mall. So hey, we have the number one seed 13 0, Big Ten champ in the Rose bowl again versus a team that suffered a very bad loss at the end of the regular season and then found themselves in the first round of the playoffs. So do we get Ohio State, Oregon part due like we saw last year? You got Signetti against Bama or he coached. So like you talked about, never.
Brent Rollins
It's where, it's where DeBoer coached too. Yes, DeBoer was at Indiana. Yeah, Womack. I remember the first time I saw him at Indiana. He was the DC before he took a head coaching gig and I liked watching his stuff when he was, when he was. Then again first time ever matching up used to be perennial power. I just think the most interesting thing about this is the aura, the mystique that used to be with Alabama. Like they used to roll those helmets out there and the A on the helm. Well, excuse me, the number on the helmet, whatever. Just like you throw that out there and that used to be enough to go, I'm scared. Like, holy cow, we got to play good tight buttholes, like pucker factor a little bit. Like that's gone. Like that is absolutely gone. And so Indiana like they should come in with a lot of confidence. You know, Mendoza coming in against a really good defense. Like I, I'm, I'm impressed with what I've seen from Alabama. They don't get shredded. Like they're a pretty good defense. I like that. Alabama had six sacks against Mater. Now listen, I'm not going to confuse the Oklahoma offense with a, with a really good offense. I'm not going to do that. But I love the way they, they play the pass exceptionally well. That if they can get their pass rush going more and more, that's a really good thing for them. They do a good job in coverage. They're. They're confusing in coverage. You saw, I mean you saw it with Hubbard coming off the edge and dropping a 300 plus pounder, you know, on a, on a right, like bring in a fire zone and showing that you can drop. Like changing again, changing the picture I think is a good thing. To be able to confuse people. They got the pick six because of that. Right. Like the changing post snap. That's really good. Like now I've talked about this for a couple years. It's, it's why I've picked against Bama in the past with, with Oklahoma the first time, not the second time. You know, the mobile quarterbacks give them problems and that's a, that's a real thing to watch. Like Mendoza hasn't run a bunch. They haven't had to major in it. But here's the thing. I'm okay when I got a mule at QB like that sucker. Six, five, two, three, man. Like I'm not worried about him being frail and being hit like some, some places you're really worried about your quarterback getting too much Dante Moore. You don't want him to get hit too much by Bailey & Co. Like you want, you want to preserve that. Mendoza.
Co-host Analyst
Eh. He already took one of the biggest hits you'll see all season. Yes. And came right back in shortly.
Brent Rollins
Thereafter. So I think the, the biggest component with this one man is Mendoza's wheels I think become a bigger part of the story in this game because they can use him. They're going to have to start to do this and I've seen the Bama defense, they've been very, very susceptible to giving up quarterback run game. We've talked about it for.

Co-host Analyst
As it related to Bama was who is the real Alabama? The down 17, nothing one or the 27 straight points after that.
Brent Rollins
One.
Co-host Analyst
Yeah. Or is it a little bit or is.
Brent Rollins
It. I like the chat. I like the chat. Matt. Matt says Jefferson for Alabama. That dude can hit. He can if you watch number 10, he makes plays. Hubbard 18 makes plays. You know an interesting part of Alabama's, you know, run defense will be, will be interesting because you got big, the big boy in the middle Team Keenum like you ain't moving him much. And listen like that's where Indiana likes to run the ball up the gut like they like to. Indiana is a team that likes to stay ahead of the sticks. Like they love to be manageable situations running in the middle, they like to pull it with some rpos, cause some confusion, slow down your backers ability to come play the run by running the RPO game and pulling it and throwing it and then who's going to cover surround on the outside, right? Like you've got to cover him in those jump ball situations situations. So it's going to be, it's going to be interesting to watch those matchups but we Got to go to Alabama's offense. Like, golly.
Co-host Analyst
Man. I mean, some semblance of a running game. Question mark, is it just not possible at this.
Brent Rollins
Point? I'm done. I'm done. Like, I don't think it's.
NHTSA Public Service Announcer
Possible.
Brent Rollins
And. And Alabama fans get mad at me sometimes because I tell the truth, and they don't like that. And they don't like it. They think I'm somehow talking against them. It's not. It's not. Brent, you watch as much tape as anybody. We watch all of this tape and all this film. Does Alabama on the offensive line have a talent problem.
Co-host Analyst
Brent?
Brent Rollins
No. Do they have untalented guys? Do they have small, tiny guys? Their center is pretty small. Besides that, do they have small, tiny guys? No, they are big, physical dudes that should be able to move me. Like, should be able to move people. It doesn't make sense, man. The lack of toughness and physicality on the offensive line. It doesn't make sense. Like, Kaden Proctor is as big. You. You saw him catch the football. Maybe we see him, by the way, get the football. Maybe you see that come back in the run game. Maybe just hand it to him some more. But, like, that's. That. I think that's the part that's. That's frustrating for me is they can sit. They consistently don't identify people, and they consistently don't move people. That's not good. That. That's. That's an issue from a coaching standpoint that you have to.
Co-host Analyst
Get. That's where I would go.
Brent Rollins
To. It's. It's a coaching dude. I watch it. And it's not that these guys can't do it. It's that they don't do it. And that's. That's a more disturbing trend for me than players that can't do.
Co-host Analyst
It. And I mean, I'm sure I've actually had a conversation with a lot of different offensive line coaches and some high school coaches, too, about sort of how this is taught in today's.
Brent Rollins
Game. I love that you do that.
Co-host Analyst
Well, because you don't see. You see more catching than you see trying to move. Like, Iowa now is the sort of outlier. The outlier, in a way, and how they guys do things is an outlier. So, like, that's why I'm kind of like, is it maybe how the game is structured? But. So the reason I asked that is I looked up and I wondered, should Bama just go some 10 personnel and put four receivers on the field all at once and just Go spin it and because when they put four of them on there with Brooks now being the threat that he is in a, you know, if Ryan Williams can get his head of his hind end, like in addition to Horton and Bernard, that's tough. Haven't done it all year. The only two plays they've not had a tight end on the field all year were the two where one of them was when Kaden Proctor caught the pass. And then another play against Georgia where he was where they had an extra offensive lineman and three receivers. But like I, I'd almost be like, okay, let's go do this a little bit. Put these four receivers on the field. Find the matchup you want. Go spin it around a little bit if that's what you do.
Brent Rollins
Best. I've been saying that it's, I'm, I'm punting on it. Like, I mean I also think that they're better at up tempo than they are at slow tempo. Like they've been so good in those two minute situations throughout the season. Like you should do it more. Just go, no huddle. Like it's, it's, it's an interesting, it's an interesting mix of ungood run game. Like consistently missing guys that get in the backfield that stop it and then you're, then you're behind the sticks and Ty Simpson has a problem because they, you know what happens? They blitz you. Now he was better against the blitz this past.
Co-host Analyst
Game. Yes, much.
Brent Rollins
Better. Solid. He saw it a little bit better. They gave him some answers to the, to the field. I want to see the screen game more. Continue to go. But, but here's the thing about Indiana. Indiana's fun to watch defensively, man. They're fun to watch because you have zero clue who the freak is coming. Cause they got three linebackers who are all really good football players. I would argue they're not elite level athletes. They're not like plus athletes. But they're really good football players. And it's literally which one of them can come. And you have guys up front that are really, that have been big and physical and listen, you know, Daily's, Daily's out. Like that's a, that's a, that's not good for Indiana. I've said that that's not a good thing for them at all. He played every snap of the Big Ten championship game. But I love the way they, they mix it up. They send them all. They, they know who they are. They're okay with pawns playing man coverage because he's good at it but everybody else, they want to play zone mostly. So Ty Simpson, what is he better against? Like he's pretty good against zone. He's pretty good on those in breaking routes. Like can they give him some time? Can they protect and not let those free rushers come? It's just crazy to think about that that we're literally picking this game and I'm going to clearly the better, more rounded, well rounded, more physical team is Indiana. That's just not a world I ever thought I would live in ever in the, in the. The guy that was at Alabama that talked to his hands like this really, really well nicely all hands. I never saw that and it never would have happened. And that's. That's a weird world, man. Weird world. But I, I think this is the end of the line for the Tide. Even though I like, I like, I like the fact that they won. I like the fact that they got down 17. That shows you something about the heart of this team that's Entire Simpson.
Co-host Analyst
& Co. Sophomore Daniel and Duque, five total QB pressures and 32 pass rush snaps. And then sophomore Mario Landino who play who's played on the interior. Yep, most this year. Those are the two guys they're going to get Stephen Daly snaps in this game. But the interesting thing with that where I'm like okay, what does this look like in the sort of as a totality of the game and when you think about Indiana season late play against Iowa down in the fourth quarter, late drives. I mean it was tied in the fourth quarter. Late drives at Oregon to assault that away. One of the plays of the year. They were down against Penn State in the fourth quarter. They got ahead early but you know they held on late with a big time play against Ohio State in the fourth quarter. So this feels like it's going to be a four quarter game. But I think the making one more play, you trust Mendoza and.
Brent Rollins
You trust, trust him to.
Co-host Analyst
Do it. Make that one more play. And their receivers. I got Indiana.
Brent Rollins
As well. Joe Long says the SEC sucks. Indiana is going to take care of business. SEC sucks. Keep it coming in the chat guys. We love, we love.
Co-host Analyst
Your comments. Could be down to one SEC team or there'll at least be one that moves on because has to next game. The next game we're talking about which you got to talk about something else.
Brent Rollins
First, right? Oh do I? Yeah, yeah. I gotta click. See we have these things in the show called rundowns where they keep you organized. Your boy's not really good at looking at that as you can tell, you listen to me talk. But you know what the good thing about that is? We have rundowns for that. Just like you have recaps and Recap. Co-host Analyst
That app. All right, Fennel says in the chat, everyone hit that like button. So yes, thank you. Like folks would do that. That would be subscribe. Appreciate that. Subscribe, add that, do all those things. Now we got the last game of the day on New Year's Day, the Sugar bowl, which I also like. It was the same thing last year, but they play the first game the following the semifinal. Like this is the last game, which is the stupidest thing ever to me. Yeah, it doesn't make sense no matter who it is, but Ole Miss, Georgia, rematch of a game that was played earlier in the season. That was an up and down fest. Saw Pete goading today. Talk about his one goal for this game is to at least punt once. Get him to punt once. That's the.
Brent Rollins
First thing. That's.
Co-host Analyst
The first. After that.
Brent Rollins
We'Ll see. So given that, and we're not kidding, biggest difference, they didn't punt one time. Not one time. Georgia did not punt One time in that.
Co-host Analyst
Last game. What do you think the biggest difference in this game? Because obviously we saw Ole Miss against Tulane kind of very much a scrimmage in a way. But what's the biggest difference in this game without Lane Kiffin.
Brent Rollins
Being there? Well, honestly, I don't know. I mean, their offense with Charlie Weiss Jr looked good. This is a different animal. This is. This is a team that's going to punch and counter punch. And so, like, do you have the ability in game to do the same? You know what I'm saying? Like, can you counter punch without another great mind in the room like that? Lane. Lane Kiffin knows what defenses do to him, how to beat it. He knows what to do to beat defenses as well. So he can help you on both sides of the football, sees the game as well as anybody, you know, period. So, you know, without that, what do they look like? Can they get stops? Is obviously a big deal. If I'm Ole Miss. I love the plan I had last time I played pitch and catch. I was very successful with it. But here's my problem. Watching that game and going back and thinking about that game, too. They have to have balance because here's what happened in that football game. One missed throw late in the fourth quarter. They got off schedule. They got stopped. The game was over. Like, bam, bam. Georgia scores. Like, can their defense get stops, too? Obviously that needs to happen. But offensively, the only shot they have. And here's what's fun about this matchup. We saw it. And here's what's fun. We've seen Georgia's defense do this and, like, really do this and find who they are. I think what Ole Miss did to Georgia last time had a lot to do with why they changed and why they became who they became. And you saw it late in that football game against them. They had to do something different. And Kirby talked about it on this pod last week with us, talked about we had to get more creative. Way to get more exotic, like personnel. We're not good enough to just line up and beat you. And they did that, and they've changed and they've morphed. And the singular best position group, to me, the pass rush group can be mentioned. But the corners for Georgia know who they are now. And I'll never forget the first possession of the second half. They're playing way off, trying to show a blitz, and then they bring a blitz, catches it, goes 80 plus yards to the house. Like, I got a feeling Mellow. And Ellis Robinson and, And. And. And Everett are better than they were. I know they're better than they were. So if I'm Ole Miss, I can't be as predictable, I can't be as pass heavy. Lacy has to get involved in this game. I have to have some form of a physical presence. Trinidad too. Trinidad's going to run it in the red. He's got to make plays, got to stay on stripped. But if I'm old miss, I have to be more two dimensional or else I'm going to be.
Co-host Analyst
In trouble. Lacy 12 for 31 in that first matchup and.
Brent Rollins
They quit. They.
Co-host Analyst
Quit trying. And the interesting thing you mentioned there about the pass that went for 75 yards early in the second half, it was on second down. When you look back, watch that game, Trinidad actually had the lowest passing grade, pff passing grade of the season in that game was 46.4. He missed a lot of throws. But on second down, like there was a lot of first and 10 misses. They took shots or they, they would, he would miss things. On first and 10. He was 10 of 14 for 180 yards on second down. So.
Brent Rollins
Like what. See, that's also a misleading stat to me too because here's why I say it's misleading. He also was asked to throw against a top tier team over and over and over and just throw and just throw and, and guess what happens when you do that over and over again. Someone's going to drop one, like you're going to misfire and then it's third and long, you know, like so you can't. That's why two dimensional teams win most of the time. And having a little bit of balance that they got to help him out. And that's where I'm wondering, like, he's slippery. The thing, man, the thing I love most about Trinidad and to think about, he wasn't, he wasn't even there in spring. Like the feel for the game, he doesn't, he very rarely gets you off script, doesn't take bad sacks like scrambles, put you in plus situations, doesn't turn the football over. The ball comes out fast. Like there's so many things about this cat that has made this thing go and made this thing special. And he's going to have to be the best version of himself and his defense is going to have to help him out and maybe special teams help him out. And just like these other games, we mentioned it early, but we didn't mention it through the other games. The rust, like is there some rust with, with Georgia and their timing and their offense and they give you a few possessions and can you take advantage and build.
Co-host Analyst
A lead? I actually think in terms of the break for Georgia, who had helped more than anyone was probably Gunner Stockton. Yeah, just from a body perspective, just to reset from him because he had to tote it a lot.
Brent Rollins
And he's taking all those hits and he's fine.
Co-host Analyst
With it. He doesn't take and he doesn't take like love taps. He takes shots. Gabe Harris. So Gabe Harris has a turf toe injury where he may or may not.
Brent Rollins
Be available. That sounds like the most. Absolutely. The like pansy injury. Like you're a pet, you're a pansy and how are you not playing? And let me tell you something, that's the most painful injury I've ever had in my life. Like the broken neck wasn't as painful as the turf toe. Like my junior year I had to get that thing injected like for every game. Every time it's the big, it was my big toe. Every time you push off it's just like ow, ow. But I felt like such a pansy when people like what's wrong man? What's hurting? I'm like, yeah, I got turf toe. Like sounds such, like such a weenie. But it makes a.
Co-host Analyst
Big difference. Gunner's first game or the first game that they played, that was Gunner's best passing grade of the season. You know, he had four touchdown throws in that game. Tight ends were big time in that game. Nine catches, 85 yards, three loss and lucky touchdowns. The, the injury to Kiwan Lacey's shoulder I thought was interesting in the, you know, two lane. He got banged up, he obviously came back in, but I don't.
Brent Rollins
Know why. They were up by 4. I agree the game was.
Co-host Analyst
In hand, but okay, but it's one of those where, oh, you know, you take one bad fall and now you're just in can't play level pain. That's.
Brent Rollins
Not good. Two, two toed of that rock though. He looked good. He looked.
Co-host Analyst
All right. Who do you trust more? Which quarterback do you trust more in.
Brent Rollins
This game? I, I trust Gunner Stockton more because he will be asked to do a lot less. I think Trinidad is going to be asked to win this thing. Gunner is going to be asked not to screw it up like again. This passing attack by Georgia is not built on big plays and rhythm and timing. It's built on a lot of screens, occasional third down conversions. But I'm going to need you to run the football and be physical. I do think everyone's going to tell Georgia how good they are, how they should be destroying Ole Miss. They're playing them again. Everyone's going to pick Georgia. There's no doubt about that. There's nobody that's going to pick Ole Miss. Like, nobody. I know how Toddy will be in the chat. They're going to pick Georgia, but nobody like that studies the games going, oh yeah, I think, I think Ole Miss's personnel is better than Georgia. It's not like. Right, it's not. But the system in the way they play, with the tempo and how they can kind of dictate to you in the throw game, it was clearly, and it is clearly, if you're going to beat Georgia, that's how it has to be. Like, nobody's proven they can line up and run the football, Adam. They just, they just haven't been able to do that. So you need a system built around a QB that can get it out and get it to their playmakers. And that's what Ole Miss does. So it's a good system. But I think we're going to learn a lot about Georgia and if their defense is that much better, I got a lot of confidence in Georgia. I think they're going to win the football game and set up a showdown with Ohio State in.
Co-host Analyst
The semifinals. I got Georgia as well. I don't think it's going to be as high scoring. I think this game's in.
Brent Rollins
The 20s. Both teams in.
Co-host Analyst
The 20s. Yep. I got Georgia 27, Ole Miss 23,000, 120. Okay. Double digits. All right. So, you know, we had some fun in the preseason with this game. I wanted to play it one.
Brent Rollins
More.
Co-host Analyst
Time. Okay. What's.
Brent Rollins
More likely?
Co-host Analyst
Oh boy. So gotta think on the fly. We got, we got. You gotta think about last year where interestingly enough, like not all the higher ranked teams lost, but the higher seated teams lost. Right. 1, 2, 3 and 4 seeds all lost. Even though in two of those games the higher ranked team won but the one through four seeds lost. So this week or next week, when we see these games, what's more likely that the top four seeds all win or that the top four seeds.
Brent Rollins
All lose? Top four seeds all win. I think, I think at most you're going to get three of them or at the least you'll get three of them. I'd be very surprised if you didn't get three of them. They're the top, the.
Co-host Analyst
Highest seeds. Because think about a world where that if that were to happen again, that the top four seeds all go down, that'd be crazy one. It's like last year Ohio 6 was the sixth ranked. Ohio State was the sixth ranked team like Bama, Miami 9 and 10 this year because they fixed the whole seating business with the rankings. But the whole layoff and rust. It would be definitively a rust thing that, that is now after with two straight years of data that says oh.
Brent Rollins
For eight. I can't wait to see it. I can't wait to see the rust because I think that's the only way those teams really have a shot. Like minus Oregon. Oregon's got a shot regardless. Like that game's going to be a close game regardless. The other three though, I think they're going to need to have fast starts and you're going to need to have some rust on the, on the other side for them to win because you're, you're way.
Co-host Analyst
More talented. Yeah, I do, I do think it's. If I had to pick, I would say all win. I mean we just picked three of the top four. I mean we picked top seat. Three of them were the.
Brent Rollins
Higher.
Co-host Analyst
Seed. So. All right. Were there any other bowl games that are intriguing to watch? I put a list of them in our little rundown. I'll go through a couple of them. We had the sort of. We got.
Brent Rollins
The preseason. Let me look at the rundown.
Co-host Analyst
Real quick. Let's see. I'll list them out for the audience here. We've got the preseason national championship game in a bowl game. Clemson vs. Penn State in the Penn Stripe Bowl. We got Tech and BYU in the Pop Tarts Bowl. Everybody loves the Pop Tarts Bowl. Now for just for Pop Tart's sake, LSU versus Houston. I actually am curious just who is coaching LSU in this game. I have no clue. I mean I'm sure I need to look at this to see and I just haven't. Tennessee and Illinois in the Music City Bowl. Iowa Vandy and Rely Quest bowl. And then Michigan and Texas Citrus Bowl. Hey, Dillingham re upped.
Brent Rollins
Arizona.
Co-host Analyst
State. Yep. So.
Brent Rollins
Not Michigan. Rematch from last year by the way. Michigan, Texas. Texas went to their.
Co-host Analyst
Place, remember?
Brent Rollins
That's right. I tell you, I'll tell you who I'm most intrigued to see is Iowa vs. Vandy because I know Iowa's offensive line is back intact. They'll be excited to play. I think they'll play well. And then Vanderbilt, you know, kind of excited to play. I see both of those teams being excited to play and be there. The other ones, you know, you always worry about who's going to. Who's Going to show up and be there. Clemson and Penn State obviously is extremely sexy, but not who's going.
Co-host Analyst
To play. That's always, that's always.
Brent Rollins
Debate there. That's the hard, cool thing about. I think Iowa and Vandy will have a ton of guys that play which, which, which. Which will be exciting. And there's a bunch of pros that.
Co-host Analyst
Will play. And the way Clark Lee talked after the, you know, sort of quote snub like, hey, look, we're. This is just, you know, we should have won. We didn't handle all of our business. I think he's going to have the right attitude about it. I agree with that one. Tennessee and Illinois, because both of those teams are basically the middle of the sec, the middle of the Big Ten. I always think that's interesting to see who takes care of business in that realm. But the Iowa Vandy game, that's on New Year's Eve. So that'll start your day on New Year's Eve with Miami and Ohio State finishing the day. We've talked a while about these games. I think we've laid.
Brent Rollins
It.
Co-host Analyst
Out. Everything. I don't know that there's much that.
Brent Rollins
We missed. We didn't miss much. Bad. And we're going to go enjoy our Christmas. So we expect you guys to do the same. And if eating the food is your thing, eat the food, whatever.
Co-host Analyst
That's fine. So who won the weekend? On Mondays, we do that victory formation at the end. Who won the weekend.
Brent Rollins
For you? Well, I mean, I'm not going to say anything about the Beatdowns because that was. That was awful. That was not fun to watch.
Co-host Analyst
Like, nobody. A lot of piling on for that right now. A lot of like, how dare that. How. I'm just like, we kind of knew it was going to happen. Like.
Brent Rollins
It.
Co-host Analyst
Was. Yeah. And it'll get fixed. I'm not. I'm not really wanting to.
Brent Rollins
Shout the clouds for that, but to me, Alabama won the weekend, man. Like, to. To have to go down 17 with all the negativity and the loss the previous week and all the stuff surrounding DeBoer to find a way to come back and win that football game. Like, that was. That was really good, man. Like, that was. That should give them some good confidence moving forward. They should feel good about themselves. But that was. That was absolutely big time. I mean, that was. That was impressive to watch. I was impressed with. I was as impressed with that as I was with just about anything else this.
Co-host Analyst
Whole season. I've got. I've got two and.
Brent Rollins
I agree. You can only.
Co-host Analyst
Have one. Well, I'm. I'm gonna have two because one of them is me. And the reason I won the weekend is because I'm a complete nutter nerd and I have two televisions to watch. And now that there's one singular game one. So I've got. In fact you have the normal broadcast on the main screen and then off to the side. I had the sky cast and I delayed the sky cast like 10 seconds. So watch the play and then review and then you see the play in the all 22. That's like nerd heaven.
Brent Rollins
For me. You know what's funny.
Co-host Analyst
About that? You did the.
Brent Rollins
Same thing. I did the same thing. I watched with my phone because it happens first and then I can watch the replay with the tv. That's. We are. We are losers. God.
Co-host Analyst
We'Re losing. Don't forget the sky cast. So the sky cast has. The alt is like the.
Brent Rollins
All 22. All 22.
Co-host Analyst
From behind. So you just pause. So have the TV beside. Pause that like 10 seconds so you can see the play and then watch the replay with the sky cast on the. On that play. So there you go. But outside of that, to me it was Mario Crystal ball in Miami. Like that's the first ACC playoff win in the 2:20 in the 2000-20s, I think. And you know where they didn't. They haven't won the conference yet, but they won a playoff game now. And that's funny. Like, but that's just big time for them because he needs to win big. He needs to win some of these big games and he's got.
Brent Rollins
A struggle. Brennan Drunsky is 12:40 in the chat. Miami won a.
Co-host Analyst
Crappy game. Why do you have.
Brent Rollins
To disagree? Why do we all have to do that? That's. That's always the, that's always the go to is that if the game isn't like sloppy and. Or if the game isn't pretty in the way you think it should be played. Like, it also can be the same. Two things can be true. It can be really good teams. Like with a three week playoff, two physical teams with a lot of wind too, which is. Which is part of it and sloppy. But it's the same thing we did with Oklahoma. It's a sl. What if. If Indiana is the same thing with Alabama, it's a sloppy game. Like what are we doing? Like, there's gonna be a lot of sloppy games. If you think that was sloppy, strap it on, man. Because I think there's a lot of sloppy coming because there's a lot of physical, pretty good teams. But I don't think we see a team that's like, man, that team's gonna destroy everybody. Like there's a lot of really good games coming and whoever can execute in the special teams and in those gray areas and not shoot themselves in the foot might win this whole flipping thing. So don't be a Grinch, my man. Don't be a Grinch. Go, go, go. Spread some loving cheer, enjoy.
Co-host Analyst
The great football and just hey. And I think your point though is the fact that these teams have elite. All these teams have a leader, one or two, three, four guys that cause havoc for these other teams and it makes it hard. It's just.
Brent Rollins
Not easy. Makes it hard when you.
Co-host Analyst
Don'T have like big time great QBs. Like, you know, you don't have a Joe Burrow versus Trevor Lawrence kind of deal. Like you're not going to get up and down and easy and all that sort.
Brent Rollins
Of stuff. So ain't going to do it. But smash that like button please, that subscribe button. Y' all keep joining us, man. We, golly, we keep growing and it's, it's such a blessing. Date: December 23, 2025
Host: David Pollack
Analyst: Brent Rollins
In this packed College Football Playoff preview, David Pollack and analyst Brent Rollins break down each CFP quarterfinal, offering in-depth analysis, X’s and O’s, and honest predictions for all four games. With Pollack’s signature high-energy, line-of-scrimmage focus and Rollins’s stat-heavy insights, this episode is a feast for football diehards—delving into matchups, hidden storylines, coaching decisions, keys to the games, rust vs. momentum, and who they believe will advance.
Pollack and Rollins avoid gambling talk and stick to pure football analysis, making this a perfect listen for serious fans who want to understand the “why” behind every matchup. Expect spirited discussion on defense’s return, offensive balance, coaching wrinkles, and a few Christmas cookie hot takes along the way.
(Deep dive begins at 02:44)
“How long were we on this program talking about who’s better in the beginning of the year—Miami or Ohio State? Well, we’re here now. We get to settle it.” —Pollack (03:22)
“Miami's better on both sides of the line of scrimmage... and that’s saying something because I think Ohio State’s defensive line is really, really good.” —Pollack (11:38)
For Ohio State: Absolute necessity to run the ball for offensive balance.
“They have a zero percent chance of being successful if Bo Jackson in the running game doesn’t get going.” —Pollack (11:46)
Ohio State’s right guard injury/battle highlighted—a possible vulnerability against Miami’s pass rush.
Ryan Day taking over playcalling is considered a positive, providing schematic edge.
“Ryan Day is a smart man… and the one thing I always appreciated about Ryan Day—playcalling. You know what Ryan Day does as good a job as anybody? Your safeties are going to be challenged.” —Pollack (12:57)
For Miami: Must be able to run the ball (ground-and-pound), especially with a massive OL. Pollack stresses Miami must avoid being one-dimensional.
“I think this is a 20, 21 to 17 type game. 21 to 14. Ohio State’s defense, though, to me, it’s just the versatility, the coverage, the ability to do multiple things. I just think it’s a little too much for an offense that’s too Tony dependent.” —Pollack (25:22)
(Starts at 27:54)
“This offense is not really diverse... it’s very run inside dependent. He’s not pulling the ball and making a bunch of plays.” —Pollack (27:58)
“If you think this is just a cute story with Texas Tech and they just got a good Big 12 defense, you’re about to find out… They got multiple first round picks on that defensive line.” —Pollack (32:39)
“I think this is 20 to 17. Like I think this is super low scoring. And give me the Ducks because remember I said they're one of the four teams that can win this puppy.” —Pollack (36:16)
(Begins at 36:55)
“The most interesting thing about this is the aura, the mystique that used to be with Alabama … that’s gone.” —Pollack (36:55)
“Mendoza’s wheels I think become a bigger part of the story in this game because they can use him. They’re going to have to start to do this and I’ve seen the Bama defense, they’ve been very, very susceptible to giving up quarterback run game.” —Pollack (39:41)
“The lack of toughness and physicality on the offensive line. It doesn’t make sense. Like, Kaden Proctor is as big... It doesn’t make sense. It’s a coaching [problem]...” —Pollack (44:18)
“I think this is the end of the line for the Tide… the better, more rounded, more physical team is Indiana.” —Pollack (47:22)
“I think this feels like it’s going to be a four quarter game. But I think making one more play, you trust Mendoza and…you trust him to do it…” —Rollins (49:43)
(Section starts at 52:09)
“Do you have the ability in-game to do the same? Without another great mind in the room like that?” —Pollack (52:55)
“I trust Gunner Stockton more because he will be asked to do less. I think [Ole Miss’s] Trinidad is going to be asked to win this thing. Gunner’s going to be asked not to screw it up.” —Pollack (58:58)
(See 05:52, 06:21, and 08:26)
“There is not a team in this thing that will win the whole thing without running the football well… If you don’t have balance, you will lose.” —Pollack (07:37)
(See 61:18–62:46)
“The only way those [lower] teams really have a shot…you’re going to need to have some rust.” —Pollack (62:21)
(See 62:58–65:08)
“18 is insanely stupid. Like, that is just absolutely stupid. A good game for a defensive end is four or five pressures. 18? Like, that’s absolutely insane.” —Pollack, on Bain and Mezador (10:22)
“That is absolutely gone. And so Indiana, they should come in with a lot of confidence.” —Pollack (37:03)
“That’s why two-dimensional teams win most of the time.” —Pollack (55:55)
“It’s a coaching problem. I watch it, and it’s not that these guys can’t do it. It’s that they don’t do it.” (44:57)
“Now defenses, man, like you watch all these defense, even with great players, man, they're not just sitting there… We're going to confuse the absolute piss out of you. That's our job.” —Pollack (06:21)
“I did the same thing. I watched with my phone because it happens first and then I can watch the replay with the TV… We’re losers.” —Pollack (67:03)
Pollack and Rollins deliver a comprehensive, no-fluff breakdown of the 2025 College Football Playoff quarterfinals, rooting their analysis in physicality, balance, and defensive prowess. Their trustworthy, lighthearted banter is married to real X’s and O’s and offers clear guidance for fans eager to understand who will advance and why.
