This is SE Ball. Get Ball, college football's top show for football analysis, predictions and coach interviews. Now here's your host, three time All American, seven time Emmy award winner.
Host Cball (likely a college football analyst or commentator)
All righty. Welcome on in cball. Get Ball. We're going to keep doing it. We appreciate you guys joining every Monday we'll be here at 8:30 and then we're going to just keep talking about college football throughout the season. You're going to hear enough of us on, on all the different platforms. But we appreciate you joining us. It was another cool week of college football. We're going to start the shows before we get to the to meat and potatoes. We're going, we're going to start the show with a couple of rants and just things that Brent Rollins from PFF and and on three like that couple things that have stuck out that really is either bothering us or needs to be addressed. That's, that's what mine is brain. I don't know if yours is in that rain, but I am so sick and tired of the blocked into the punt returner element of football. Like it's getting ridiculous. It's messing up the game. We're getting way too many muffs. We're getting way too much. Oh, did he get blocked into it? Did he not get blocked into it? Like it's, it's your job to stay away from the punt returner. Like if they start bending toward towards them and they're making contact with somebody, so be it. I don't care. Like you can't get in the returner's way to catch the football. Too many turnovers and weird stuff and reviews and Then they're screwing up the reviews with it, too, because you can only review certain parts of it. Like, I'm just sick and tired of seeing it. Like, it's almost like targeting. It's. It's such a moving target, man. Like, how are we going to decide whether they're really pushed? How are we going to decide whether they were blocked into them or not? Like, it just. There's too much gray. Get the gray out. If you're in the halo, the protective, you know, area that they catch the football, it's interference. Your job to get away from it. Your job to slide out of the way. Your job not to come in and. And make as much, you know, distractions as possible, because that's not part of the game to me. I don't want. I don't want to see that continue to cause turnovers. I'm. I'm already tired of it. And we're just into week three of college football.
Brent Rollins (PFF analyst and co-host)
So the. So the fix is what then?
Host Cball (likely a college football analyst or commentator)
Just don't get in the halo. Don't get in the catch radius. Like, so you're.
Brent Rollins (PFF analyst and co-host)
You're speaking more to the punt teams and gunners. Responsibility.
Host Cball (likely a college football analyst or commentator)
Yes.
Brent Rollins (PFF analyst and co-host)
And knowing that they can't hit those guys, and if they do, they're going to get flagged.
Host Cball (likely a college football analyst or commentator)
We've been doing this for a long time, and it's been just fine. Like, if you get in that protective area, it's your fault. Like, you're getting pushed. Your momentum carries you. Like, I know how to sit down my momentum. I know how to swerve. I know how to put my blinker on and get out of the way. Like, I don't. It's kind of. It's kind of like the blocks now that everybody's getting smart and they're just kind of turning their body like this instead of blocking people. Learn how to do it. Learn how to get the heck out of the way when they're trying to return a punt.
Brent Rollins (PFF analyst and co-host)
I actually saw that in one of the. The game that I graded last week for pff, because I do punt returns. Special teams, typically where it could have been 10 years ago or 15 years ago, however long it would have been a decleader and, you know, you just got jacked up segment on, you know, prime time and all that sort of stuff. But the person did the thing where they threw their hands up and just kind of slid right in between them, make sure that they didn't get that penalty. And it's called good learn.
Host Cball (likely a college football analyst or commentator)
That's what coaching should do. You should eliminate those things. That are going to be penalties for you.
Brent Rollins (PFF analyst and co-host)
It's attention to the detail. Because I think there are certain teams that we're going to talk about a little bit later who have big games this week who have had lack of attention to detail. My rant is actually on a new rule and I think you're actually going to appreciate the fact that I that this upsets me. Did you watch or see a good bit of JMU James Madison in Louisville on Friday night?
Host Cball (likely a college football analyst or commentator)
Yeah. Great game, by the way.
Brent Rollins (PFF analyst and co-host)
James Madison physically dominated that game, but gave up two or three big plays. And if they would have figured out which if QBB could have thrown and passed or both QBs could have because.
Host Cball (likely a college football analyst or commentator)
They did the revolving door at quarterback.
Brent Rollins (PFF analyst and co-host)
One running and one.
Host Cball (likely a college football analyst or commentator)
Well, if they had one that could do it, Brent, they would stick with it. But when you don't try something, at.
Brent Rollins (PFF analyst and co-host)
A certain point, you got to try something. But what you what you may not have seen in the game and if you didn't see a good old at John Tweet sports Twitter account they called the delay of game penalty. When the defense is like shifting and coming up to try kind of time the snap blitz late, look late, change that sort of stuff that drives me insane. That should not be a penalty in any way, shape or form. Like the stemming that Georgia used to do. Like hold your water offense under job. It's your job, right? You know the snap count the defense doesn't like. That's one thing to me that, oh.
Host Cball (likely a college football analyst or commentator)
You, you, you are. Oh my gosh, this is in my lane alley, whatever. Because the offense has every single advantage in the game of football. Like everything has. Every rule that's been implemented has been skewed to enhance offensive performance. Whether it's touching guys, whether it's shifting, whether it's trading, whether it's motioning. Like you get to determine when the balls snap. So if I can move and screw you up, that's your fault. Figure it out. Like you know the snap count. So that's your fault. Now the problem with it is where it becomes a grayer area is when the defense makes noises and they'll say, you know, shift when they're trying to say down, set, hut. Like, I get that. But when we all move together, because here's the thing, everybody knows a tendency. And so I know when you snap the football. So if your hands come up in the shotgun like, bam, that's what I want to stem because I know the ball's coming in one 1000 or whatever your tell is when you kick Your leg. Like, that's my job to study, but it's absolutely your job to hold your water. I remember texting Kirby about that early in the season a couple of years ago and I was like, you can't tell me they're going to call us. He was like, they're not going to call an Arlee. Like, our league actually is good. This is, they understand, like this is part of the game. This is part of the defense's ability to, you know what we're doing, we're changing our gaps right before the snap so the offense doesn't know where we're at. That's. That's 100% legal and it should be allowed. I am absolutely with you, homie.
Brent Rollins (PFF analyst and co-host)
I mean, I just. I knew you would be. And by the way, are you shocked that I'm bringing up a rule that helps the defense? And how I hate a rule that helps the defense. Well, because it hurts the defense.
Host Cball (likely a college football analyst or commentator)
You like good football and you like, you like the chess match of football. That's why you're a numbers guru and a football geek, is because we like that stuff. But let's get, let's get to our first topic, homie, or you got something else?
Brent Rollins (PFF analyst and co-host)
Well, I was just going to say, just general. Did you have a general thought being a day, you know, two days sort of removed from all of what happened this weekend? Because I have one very interest or one thought regards to one league. That's going to be interesting as we get through this.
Host Cball (likely a college football analyst or commentator)
What you got?
Brent Rollins (PFF analyst and co-host)
I. The more I look at it, with Auburn winning at Baylor, with Oklahoma winning this game with, you know, Tennessee looking competent now with Aguilar, the SEC to me is going to just be. There might be 7, 8, 9 teams that are 8 and 4, 9 and 3. They're all going to beat each other. They're all going to be able to get somebody. Kentucky's even playing solidly early in the season, played Mississippi, tough. Mississippi State now goes and beats Arizona State. Every team in the league can beat the other and it's just going to be a complete coin flip as we and yeah, I don't think you can.
Host Cball (likely a college football analyst or commentator)
Do that, Brent, because that's called SEC bias. You're not allowed to say those things. We have to be very conscious that people don't want to hear certain things. I got a stat that I was not planning on using to back that up. Power league records in non conference power four games through two weeks. The sec, the sky is falling. If you listen like, oh my gosh, everybody's catching. Look at look at how bad they've sucked in the first couple weeks through the first two weeks of the season. SEC, 8 and 2, Big Ten, 5 and 3, Big 12, 5 and 6, ACC, 3 and 9. So I don't, I don't think you can do that, Brent. That's not legal. You're not allowed to use facts or stats. That's not, that's not good. But that's obviously against other conferences, which is what I've been saying for years, that I want to see. I want to see the biggest teams in each conference play against the other teams in each conference.
Brent Rollins (PFF analyst and co-host)
And I think, by the way, I think this issue is going to be a Big Ten issue, too. I just don't know that the, the middle of the Big Ten is a lot tougher and the, and it's rising Washington, all that sort of thing. But I don't know that they're at the level of Penn State, Oregon and Ohio State. Whereas to me, Texas can get beat by anybody. Georgia can get beat by anybody, this weekend included. Like any of these teams can get beat by any of the other teams, for the most part, especially when you go on the road. That's the thing I'm saying.
Host Cball (likely a college football analyst or commentator)
And we're going to get to see it, too. Like, you know, Oklahoma, pretty convincing win against Michigan, Michigan the rest of the way, not a lot of resistance. And, you know, how good does Oklahoma end up? But they have that trump card against Michigan, you know, later on down the road. Somebody in the chat, Straight street already said, like, I want to hear an explanation of why you're bullish on usf. And that's our first, you know, topic of the day. Probably because they have the best already. This, at this point in the season, like, who's got a better record? Who's got a better resume? I mean, Boise State is 100% still a good football team. I don't care like that, that like they got beat really bad, but they're still going to be really good throughout this football season all year long. Like they're going to be, they're going to end up in the mix. We're going to be discussing because they're exceptionally talented, they're really well coached. And then they just went to Gainesville. Like that's. They, they didn't do this at home. They went to Gainesville and beat a talented Florida team. And people are going to say, well, Florida's not very good. They'll prove you otherwise, probably Florida's going to have some big wins this season. They've Got some big time talent and they stymied them. And their coach, who is unbelievable and really good and started the season on fire, might be the next coach of Florida. Who knows? Like, he might not have to travel far, but that's why we're bullish on USF and the first part of the season. Has there been a better, you know, resume so far than usf?
Brent Rollins (PFF analyst and co-host)
I don't think so. And the interesting thing is thinking about that, what you just said, your last comment, is he potentially the next coach there, which is a better, which is a better job?
Host Cball (likely a college football analyst or commentator)
That's because.
Brent Rollins (PFF analyst and co-host)
Because, I mean financially.
Host Cball (likely a college football analyst or commentator)
But don't do that.
Brent Rollins (PFF analyst and co-host)
If you looked at. There was a recent. I saw recent.
Host Cball (likely a college football analyst or commentator)
Patronize the mighty Florida Gators and their heritage and their history. That's what you're doing. You're patronizing them.
Brent Rollins (PFF analyst and co-host)
No, not at all. It has nothing to do with Florida. But I looked, I saw a recent thing in terms of recruiting budgets, and USF was one of the top 20 in terms of recruiting budgets. They're in a, they're in an AQ conference. So when you're confident you're in the playoff versus I just talked about an SEC that, you know, literally 16 teams can beat the other 15. You know each other. I, I don't know. That might be one where it's like. And I'm, I'm in Florida already. I'm getting, I might not get four and five stars, but I can get a lot of good players.
Host Cball (likely a college football analyst or commentator)
You could throw a rock and hit a guy that runs, runs a 10, 300, that runs a 4, 4 40. Like you can find a lot of those guys. But, but that. You still can't do that. You can't do that to Gators fans. And that's.
Brent Rollins (PFF analyst and co-host)
Oh, you're still gonna, I understand, take the Florida job.
Host Cball (likely a college football analyst or commentator)
Yeah, 100%. Like, and, and the, the resources, the history, the, the caliber of player. Is it easier to win at usf? Yes, I, I will give you that it's not going to be Murderer's row. And you're going to. But you already took care of Boise, you took care of Florida, and then you got Miami. I mean, coming up like number one. This will be extremely tough for Brown and company on the offensive side of the football with that, with that pass rush and that defensive line. But the only other people you could say to me is The Buckeyes won 7700 and they beat the number one team in the country, LSU beating Clemson at Clemson. Like, those are the kind of things we're comparing them to. But to have two, you know, ranked wins. I think us USF so far has won the, has won the first part of the season with what they've, with what they've had to play, how they've won and against pretty good, really good football teams.
Brent Rollins (PFF analyst and co-host)
So one more thing before we get to, we're going to kind of look at each of the bigger matchups, like eight different games this weekend. We've already kind of touched a little bit on USF and Miami. But before we get to that, one more speaking of the whole SEC and Mississippi State's big win is Arizona State's loss basically make the Big 12 A1 bid league, do you think?
Host Cball (likely a college football analyst or commentator)
Yes. Yeah, because I agree that's good because. Well, you also got to look around the league too and Kansas just got, Kansas State just got beat by Army. Kansas got beat by Missouri. Like a lot of teams in that league obviously suffering out of conference losses. That, yeah, I think that's. And I still think there's a bunch of really good teams that are going to beat up on each other and have a bunch of losses too. And, but, but just the, the, the deepness and the, I think the. Not as elite of, of of playmakers of players probably as, as other leagues, but I still think obviously the most fun league to watch period going to be week in and week out, like it's just that good. But yeah, I think that makes the Big 12 get one bid because if.
Brent Rollins (PFF analyst and co-host)
Arizona State goes and you know, takes care of business, you know, double digit win at Mississippi State, there's just not a lot of other non conference games, comparison games where you can look at and be like, okay, well they're just, you know, if Texas Tech is, you know, 11:1, Arizona State's 11, you know, if they're beating in the meeting in the conference championship game, do they have a chance to get two? I think Arizona State's lost because they're already highly ranked or they were they and they would have kept rising had they won. Yeah, that I think. Yes. I think that's a one bit only league definitively now.
Host Cball (likely a college football analyst or commentator)
Hey, they tried to tell him. He tried. He tried to let him know. He tried. He tried to call out his team all summer, right. Time and time again letting him know like guys, you ain't done nothing. You haven't arrived. And then they didn't show up for the first half and Dillingham was like, do you understand what I'm talking about now? So yep, I think he's got their attention now. I'll be interested to watch how they respond.
Brent Rollins (PFF analyst and co-host)
All right, so some early look ahead because we got a lot of big games this week. First one is the local team. To us, that would be Georgia, who struggled a little bit against Austin P, who now goes and they now go to Knoxville this week at Tennessee, which I think is. What are they like 6 and 15 maybe? Yeah, 6 and 15 in terms of ranking at least now in the AP. And what have we learned about each.

Brent Rollins (PFF analyst and co-host)
Games. You think?
Host Cball (likely a college football analyst or commentator)
Well, I think first, you know, we got to also point out, too, that. And you. And you're going to probably have the numbers for this, but Tennessee's got a Georgia problem and has had a Georgia problem for a while now. Is it 14? Eight straight and the last one was a Hail Mary, I think, wasn't it? Or was that maybe. I mean, that's what's crazy. But it's a win to win. I'm not, I'm not hating. I know Georgia's defense is really, really good. I know Georgia's defense is going to present a lot of problems for, for Tennessee's offense. Their coverages, their coverage in the back end, I think, is really good. I think they've got solid matchups across the board. I think they got really good cover guys. I think they've got some physicality up front that could, that could handle the run game of Tennessee. I think they have some depth that they can rotate in. I, I know Georgia's defense is going to be really good and keep them in every game. How about that? Like, I think that's something that, that I know in the secondary. Like, Bones a baller. Like, he's a baller. I mean, he's, he's as good as it gets as a, as a safety in the country. Like, I'm not sure if we went through all the safeties in the country, tackling coverage, speed, like intelligence. I mean, he's, he's got absolutely all of it. Robinson, the corner, who was the number one corner in the country? Ellis Robinson a couple of years ago. And if you want to go look it up, Brent, like, you can find him versus Jeremiah Smith one on one and he's the only one that, that actually could hold Jeremiah Smith down a little bit because he was six to six, three really big long corner, number one player in the country a couple years ago. He's starting now at corner. So C.J. allen in the middle, number three at linebacker. They've, they've got some guys that can cover the field, do some damage, make some plays. Christian Miller and company up front on the defensive line. So I'm very confident in Georgia's defense and what they are.
Brent Rollins (PFF analyst and co-host)
Okay, so what do you know about Tennessee then?
Host Cball (likely a college football analyst or commentator)
I know Tennessee's banged up on the defensive line. I know they're not as deep as they were a year ago, but they are physical. Like they do a good job of being physical up front. I know that Joey Aguilar's got some moxie to him and got some stuff to him. Like I, I know enough watching him, Brett at the QB position that I know he's going to make plays. Did I say he's going to make plays just for his team? Probably not. He's probably going to make some mistakes but he's a really good athlete. The system needs to continue to tweak and I think it has a little bit but I know they can throw the football. Last week I don't look at as much when you play really, really inferior competition but when you do what you're supposed to do, I like that. I like it when you club people like when you go frying pan to the head against a team that you have way more talent than. So Tennessee's offense is still a Josh Hypo offense with speed and tempo and the ability to make big plays.
Brent Rollins (PFF analyst and co-host)
I was curious. I thought it was because I looked it up. He hasn't had a turnover worthy play yet. Aguilar in two games he's had a.
Host Cball (likely a college football analyst or commentator)
Bunch of high throws though. I will say that he's had a bunch of high throws.
Brent Rollins (PFF analyst and co-host)
Accuracy, maybe not as great but, but still in terms of giving it away like he did. Like it was, you know, some candy on the, on a parade during when he was his time at App State. Which group out of this. When you look at this matchup, which group do you have the most confidence in based on the small sample size that you've seen? I, I would and by, by group I would say like okay, Georgia's defense, Georgia's offense, Tennessee's offense, Tennessee's defense. That sort of realm.
Host Cball (likely a college football analyst or commentator)
I, I think Georgia's defense probably is the, the unit I feel the most confident in and you know, Georgia's offensive line, I, I feel here's. I like Georgia's weapons too. Like, I like Georgia's running back room. I like Georgia's receiving room. I like Georgia's tight end room. Like, I like a lot about it. But here's the thing. I don't know that the offensive line. And it's fair, it's fair to say you're missing your right guard, you're missing your right tackle already that you started the season with, and at one point you're on your third one. So like at right tackle, that's, that's not a good start for a unit that had a lot to prove. But, but the weapons, I like around, like, around them. Nate Frazier, if he can hold on to the football, like, he's a really good back. And I like him better, Brent, this year than I did a year ago. You know why? Because I don't feel like he's dancing as much. I feel like he's getting downhill more because last year he's got this little wiggle to him and he would do it too much. I think Delp and Lucky at tight end, I think there's a reason they haven't been used. I think you'll see them this week. I think you'll see more of the zone bluff stuff, the easy throws from, from Gunner Stockton to alleviate pressure. But. So I guess that I feel more confident about the Georgia pieces that I just mentioned than I do about Tennessee. But Tennessee as a unit, Tennessee is an offense with their system, their system is probably a little bit more dependable than Georgia's.
Brent Rollins (PFF analyst and co-host)
The key part that we haven't mentioned yet is we have again young guy starting on the road for the first time. Like, granted, Gunner started in the playoff game against Notre Dame, but. And that was obviously a big environment, big time pressure.
Host Cball (likely a college football analyst or commentator)
I got a question, I got a question for you about that Gunner Stockton. Brent, we watch all of this stuff and you break it down for, for UGA sports and like Gunner Stockton, we've seen through two weeks compared to the Gunner Stockton we saw in the playoff.
Brent Rollins (PFF analyst and co-host)
Last year, hesitating easy. There's nothing about him through two weeks that has been on time to me. He's either been too quick to come off of things or too slow to get to other things. All of it's not been meshed in any way. And times when he's had chances, they've given up some pressure on some play action shots that they've tried to take. Some of the things I think that he's Doing in a positive aspect is I. He helps their run game and the what they've done from a diversification standpoint, scheme wise in the run game. And we'll get into this later in the week when we get into the picks, but it's greatly improved and I think they've got a. The running back room and the weapons there. It's just a matter of is he going to rip it when he needs to rip it. The Kirby comment that he made after the game I thought was very interesting. The most interesting thing of that I've heard from him in a long time. I want to see him in the game like I see him in practice and my thoughts there is, is there an element of hey, in practice I know one, I'm going to great defense, but I'm competing in practice. I'm competing against the guy who's right beside me and he probably actually throws a better ball, but I'm competing. And then in the game it's like, okay, what gets me taken out or what gets me in trouble in the game is screwing up and turning the ball over. So I'm maybe there's a fear factor there where it's not that in practice I got to make plays. So.
Host Cball (likely a college football analyst or commentator)
So you saw it last year that he was more decisive. He let it rip earlier in the playoff game. I, I would, I would agree with that. I thought he was, I thought he was better a year ago. Big time stage, big time prove it moment. So you know what we think might change really quickly. You know, you go up to Knoxville, you open up the playbook, things look different. Like I think the emphasis on Georgia so far has been we're going to run the dang ball down your throat, establish who we are. But let's get to the next, the next matchup because Georgia, Tennessee, we're going to cover more later in the week as well.
Brent Rollins (PFF analyst and co-host)
Yep, another big sort of top 25 matchup. Texas A and M at Notre Dame. A little bit of revenge factor here.
Host Cball (likely a college football analyst or commentator)
So good, man, so good.
Brent Rollins (PFF analyst and co-host)
And Notre Dame, by the way, that we're, you know, they played week one and then they get to buy taxing who's probably good for them. But you got all the offensive line issues that they had against Miami. And now here comes Cassius Howe, who's buddy one of the better pass rushers in the country and had like we talked about on, on Saturday, three straight or sacks on three straight plays for the first time in like a decade that that's happened. So yeah, since how did they go about blocking Him. Yep. How they go about blocking him.
Host Cball (likely a college football analyst or commentator)
And here's what I like about him, Brent. Like it was. He got in his bag. There was, there was three different moves that I'm just telling you this is, this is my time to nerd out because pass rush is my thing. And I love when people can beat you. If you're a one trick pony with speed, like it's not going to always be there and you're not going to be consistently winning. But when you can win three different ways for three different sacks and three plays, like literally. First one was a button jerk. He hits him, it's play action and he immediately rips off, off the left tackle. Bam sack, runs him down with some good speed. Second one was an up and under that was absolutely dirty. And it was dirty because like it's. Some guys can cross over while they're attacking, like stick the foot in the ground and cross over other guys. Like it's a long accentuated thing. His was step, step, bomb and he is by you for the sack. And then the third one with him, I mean it was, it was even dirtier too. It was the ghost rush. Like speed I'm going to hit you duck down underneath the big tackle and just bye bye by Felicia, like get the quarterback. So you know, he's going to be, you know, finding him will be a problem. A and M and their offense, like, I think there's legit question marks about can they do it? Because here's what I love about their offense and we'll break this into it. They got some good pieces with Mario and KC and the way they mesh it together fits really, really well. And they can scheme you and they can hit that perimeter stuff and then they can hit the fake screens and goes and all the things to, to look at, but the speed in the space, you know, how does Notre Dame with manto man coverage, tackle on the outside against those quick passes that they'll give you and then you, you play man to man against a dude that can go run skirt.
Brent Rollins (PFF analyst and co-host)
In terms of looking at my Notre Dame's pass block grade though, in that first game against Miami as a team 25.6.
Host Cball (likely a college football analyst or commentator)
I'm not good at math and I wasn't good at school. But is 25 good?
Brent Rollins (PFF analyst and co-host)
It's, it's in the red. Really bad range in the PFF grades.
Host Cball (likely a college football analyst or commentator)
So be a good, good, good time to use your weapons and get maybe some price and some love and some ground and pound and get C.J. carr a little bit more of that stuff. Maybe that's a good idea. And A and M's defense, their defensive line has been okay. Like, I'd be interested to see the grades. It's not, it's not elite. Their back end, I think, has a chance to be really elite and be really, really good. The question mark for them is all those guys that they lost up front. And so physically is the first concern for them, are they going to be able to match up?
Brent Rollins (PFF analyst and co-host)
Yep. Georgia transfer Sam and Pimba, by the way, getting some run and getting some pressures in a sack in the last game. Next game, Florida at lsu. This was going to be a very large game in terms of rankings and it still is a big game and everything is kind of in a way still in front of Florida. They can still go win the sec. But I wanted to. My question here on this game, in a large sort of big picture sense, should Billy Napier still be trying to call place? Like, should he take a step back and be CEOish?
Host Cball (likely a college football analyst or commentator)
This is, this is a fair question. And Gus Malzahn came on last week and talked about how much easier it was for him being an OC and not being the head coach and how he could watch the iPad. He didn't have to worry, worry about situational football and what's next. Like, he could, he could get his quarterback prepared, get his line. This is what I'm thinking about moving and doing next as opposed to, to being the CEO. So I don't think it's unfair. Their offense against South Florida was not good. I mean, it's. Honestly, Brent, I, I want to see more like Lagway's got this, this cannon that, that can drop bombs and can attack the field like, but it's very, you know, compartmentalized. It's not allowing for a lot of reads to. It's not saying like, drop back and be a qb. It's very, very defined. Now listen, they made mistakes and clean up the mistakes. They win that game against south Florida, period. Two offensive touchdowns, callback, 11 penalties. Like, there's, there's a lot I, I say he knows better than we do because he knows who's on a staff. And Russ Calloway, I think, is his oc. Do you give him a shot with some help, maybe, but I don't know the answer. But what they did last week with the mistakes and the penalties and, you know, not, not capitalizing on deep shots like they've, they've got to do a better job.
Brent Rollins (PFF analyst and co-host)
LSU getting back at home, kind of cranking it back up after Louisiana Tech. I think it was that they took care of last week. All right, so next game we have some common opponents and if I just said, hey, one team beat the opponent in their stadium and scored 34 unanswered on them, slapped the other team beat the, the opponent in a neutral site field kind of barely in a way and needed some special teams magic to make that happen. And then they both handled their sort of warm up scrimmage type games. Who should be ranked higher in that scenario? Because the team that won the road game, Vanderbilt, is not ranked South Carolina's 11th.
Host Cball (likely a college football analyst or commentator)
Fair. Fair question. I think one thing you can get ready because, because here's what happens. Just like this past week it was, it's amazing to watch television. You're like, and you see comments after the Oklahoma game. It's like, oh my gosh, this John Matiere guy's good. And we're like, yeah, like, welcome to college football. Like we've, we've seen this for a couple of years now. Like we've, we've talked about this. This dude's elite of elite. Like we're just, some people are just seeing it. I feel like this is going to be a conversation that we see elsewhere too. Brent. I don't know about South Carolina's offense. I have some clear question marks about their offense. 258 yards a week ago. Well, they scored, they scored 17, I think against, against no. 20, 24 points versus Virginia Tech, 17 versus Illinois in the bowl game. Like Mike Shula took over play calling for the bowl game. I just, I'm not seeing, I'm not, I thought Virginia Tech's defense, I'm like, Virginia Tech's defense is really good. Then you watch them against Vanderbilt and you're like, no game. No, they're not. Like they got slapped around. Like, come here, bend over like belt to bottom. Like it was, it was, it was a spanking. South Carolina couldn't do that. And so, you know, with their first series was magical against Virginia Tech. Besides that, it was now Beamer ball is alive, which is good. Two punt returns in two weeks for like, which is awesome. And it's good to see. But I just, I would say that that's my first glance at this offense. This might be something that people are talking about down the road. Lenore Sellers, I know he's really, really good. But what's going on with South Carolina's offense? Why can't they score more points, put up more yards? This might be a topic.
Brent Rollins (PFF analyst and co-host)
Let's see next one. I agree, by the way. I'll Concur. I concur with that.
Host Cball (likely a college football analyst or commentator)
I concur less, coach.
Brent Rollins (PFF analyst and co-host)
All right, next one. And Brett, thank you. Appreciate that. Letting us know that we got a shout out on the war chant for the interview with Malzon, which, by the way, is the Florida State on 3 site now. Big humongous Florida State thing. Clemson at Georgia Tech.
Host Cball (likely a college football analyst or commentator)
Speaking of acc.
Brent Rollins (PFF analyst and co-host)
And my question for you is this, because I think this. This is a. I'm gonna go a definite yes on this question. Is this a must win for hashtag all in, bro?
Host Cball (likely a college football analyst or commentator)
This. This is. This is a get right game. And this is a I believe in you game. And I gotta see it, bro. Like, obviously last week you messed around with Troy. You almost found out, but you took care of business. Yeah, Georgia Tech, we know they're good. We know they're tough. Haynes King is a legit question mark. But Philo played last week for them. It's. They got to prove it. I got to see it before I'm going to continue to buy into it. But Georgia Tech, man, how about y' all take care of the football a little bit better too, because the first three possessions with Haynes King, homie, first three possessions against Colorado, turnovers. First two possessions last week with Philo, turnovers. So Georgia Tech, now, they look different with Philo and like, he can throw the football and they got some weapons in the back end. He threw for golly. I think it was like over 370. Yeah, 370 something. Last week it was like 21 to 28. It will look different. Haynes King's availability will be different, you know, because Philo's not the athlete, but Clemson, this is a good team. Like, we got to show me something at some point. Like if I want to be all in or I'm going to get my tattoo removed, I'm just not going to. Not going to have it my all in a tattoo.
Brent Rollins (PFF analyst and co-host)
I think this is an absolute must win for them because Georgia Tech's the remainder of their ACC schedule. Like, they can get beat by anybody, but it's also not people that they should fear in any way. And Florida State, Clemson still has Florida State. Like, there's. It's a whole new realm of ACC for them this year with Florida State being what they are and what they've shown so far.
Host Cball (likely a college football analyst or commentator)
No doubt.
Brent Rollins (PFF analyst and co-host)
All right, next 1SEC matchup, which by the way I looked, I think there are. It's 42 undefeated teams in the power four. 41 or 2 0. And then TCU is 1 0. But a matchup of 20 teams in the SEC. Arkansas at Ole Miss. So the over, here's my question. The over under is 63 and a half. Is Lane going to be apologizing to the sports betters again this week?
Host Cball (likely a college football analyst or commentator)
I'll take the under. I think, I think Arkansas, first of all, 108 points through two games. Eleven different guys have scored touchdowns, which is cool. But I think they can run the football with Taylor Green like Taylor Green early in the year. You don't want to play him while he's really healthy because he's got the big frame, the athletic ability. And they got Braylon Russell, they got Mike Washington. Like they've got the ability to run the football, run the clock, be physical like you. Arkansas can be this, you know, I stopping this Ole Miss offense. I think this Ole Miss offense is going to be more dink and dunk than it's been. Like if you watched it a week ago, it was, it was really good run game and the quick game was on point like and I don't know if that was to settle Simmons down after a few early mistakes, but it was definitely the best part of their offense. So I, I would take the, I would take the under low, lower scoring than that. Pretty good defenses and pretty good run games that keep the clock moving.
Brent Rollins (PFF analyst and co-host)
And I don't. They're missing Trey Harris. Like they don't have that guy or they haven't at least found that guy in terms of the rotation for that. All right, last one for this and then we'll get to some.

Brent Rollins (PFF analyst and co-host)
Numbers. USC at Purdue. Both teams two zero I, I know I'm gonna go in a diet fashion here. Question for you. Okay, has what USC done over the past few weeks empty calories for you? Or is it, do you look at it and you're like, okay, they got something here.
Host Cball (likely a college football analyst or commentator)
I can't help but watch them and say the speed is real. Like the, the, the system obviously is good, but I, I will believe in USC more after this week. Listen, don't, I know Purdue has not been typically good and this is their first two zero for start for a first year head coach since 1916 and they haven't had two and oh since 2021. Like, so this is a great start. I remember talking to OCs in college football year after year and asking them who's the best dc, who's got the best brain? And Barry Odom always got brought up and Barry Odom is the coach of Purdue now. Like, I, I, I want to see them again. This is a good challenge, I feel like, for usc. Do they have more firepower? Absolutely freaking lutely. They scored 73 last week. Jordan Mava is it said 300 passing in the first half, right? Like they, they've got weapons, they can, they can throw it. But I just, I'd love to see what Odom dials up to slow down and if they can run the football and shorten the game. So I, I think I might learn something. I'm not, I don't think Purdue is going to be, you know, trash. I don't, I don't think that I think you'll see improvement. I think Barry Odom's too good of a football coach.
Brent Rollins (PFF analyst and co-host)
I think you're seeing that in a lot of different places this year where quick turnarounds with new coaches and these new coaches getting on board. I mean, even, by the way, even with unlv, where Odom came from, with, with Dan Mullen, he has a completely new team and he's figuring it out week to week very quickly. Temple, by the way, we talked about Oklahoma. They have to go To Temple. They play, by the way. And they play at the Eagle Stadium. But a road game at Temple. Who's 20 for the first time in. I can't remember how long it was.
Host Cball (likely a college football analyst or commentator)
Matt Rule.
Brent Rollins (PFF analyst and co-host)
Not. It was. I think it was something else. But it was one that.
Host Cball (likely a college football analyst or commentator)
That's my guess. Maybe E.J. warner.
Brent Rollins (PFF analyst and co-host)
Where did I. I had it. That might be right. I had it written down somewhere.
Host Cball (likely a college football analyst or commentator)
It's all good. Continue.
Brent Rollins (PFF analyst and co-host)
Bad job by me. But you're seeing that early. So a lot of. A lot of these teams doing well. All right, so we already hit the. The USF and how we're bullish on the Bulls. So getting to some numbers don't lie sort of brought you by the week. I like gonna do it every Monday. And I've got some questions for you. I've got three things. Three points. Got some questions for you off these three points.
Host Cball (likely a college football analyst or commentator)
Where are you finding your numbers, sir? Like where do these numbers come from?
Brent Rollins (PFF analyst and co-host)
They come from Pro Football Focus, who I have been an employee of for the past 12 football seasons now, ever since they started doing college grades in 2014. And if you want to. And by the way, a lot of the stuff that I'm actually bringing up today, you can see on the. If you get a PFF plus subscription, which if you use the code get ball G E T B a l l 25, you get 25 off of that. So your team. If you want to know how the right guard is playing on your team or how your two interior defensive tackles are playing, PFF is the place to go.
Host Cball (likely a college football analyst or commentator)
So I want to see the right guard. But anyways, continue. What you got for me? Number me. Brent Rollins. Number me. Let's go.
Brent Rollins (PFF analyst and co-host)
Care about the right guard anyway?
Host Cball (likely a college football analyst or commentator)
Yeah.
Brent Rollins (PFF analyst and co-host)
Big game of the week. Oklahoma QB John Mateer versus sort of the past. If you look at big time throws so high, PFF's highest graded throws, you'll see it in the column. It says BTT big time throws. He has six in two games. Their quarterbacks last year had 10 the entire.
Host Cball (likely a college football analyst or commentator)
I would have. I would have taken the under. I would have thought less than 6 on the season already. Yeah. And this man, this material guy, he's never done that before. Brent, that's crazy. Like, where did that come from? Like, welcome aboard the Material Train, everybody. Like, the dude's an absolute freak show stud.
Brent Rollins (PFF analyst and co-host)
Well, the one that I know you would believe, they only had four completed passes of 15 plus air yards last year. I saw this Brandon Zimmerman does the SC stuff. Mater already has 11, so that's one and that big time throw rate, the rate at which he is making those throws is the highest, second highest of any Oklahoma quarterback as it stands. Which is going to, I think go down a little bit as the season goes on. But as it stands, it would be the second highest other than Rattler, Spencer Rattler in 2020. So think about all that.
Host Cball (likely a college football analyst or commentator)
Would not have been my guess if you gave me OU quarterbacks that. That put up insane numbers. I would not have said Spencer Rattler. Like, the list of Murray and Mayfield and Jalen hurts like, holy cow.
Brent Rollins (PFF analyst and co-host)
Like even Caleb Williams. One year. You got one year back in the day.
Host Cball (likely a college football analyst or commentator)
Or I mean, first round, first, first overall picks. That's crazy.
Brent Rollins (PFF analyst and co-host)
All right. That was the second most carries materials ever had in a game. So my question for you as it relates to all those numbers, can you keep it up?
Host Cball (likely a college football analyst or commentator)
Heck yeah. There's a fat baby fart. Does 100 pound of flour make a big fricking biscuit? Yes. This dude's the truth, man. Like, now, again, I don't think they're going to ask him to do as much. I think they'll evolve as the season goes along. But that is. That is his mo. That is who he is. It's. It's the same thing I said throughout. If they protect him, Brent, and they keep him upright 100%, he'll be able to do that. His receiving core is not a plus plus. It's not okay. Like, if you're looking for one of the better receiving cores in the country, he doesn't have that. Like, but he's going to make the whole thing better. The whole thing go. The offensive line's gonna have to come along, the running backs are gonna have to come along, but the big time throws. Yes. Like, he's going to continue to make those and he'll make them with a. With a variety of different ways. He'll make them down the middle of the field and he'll make him on the sidelines repetitively. You'll continue to see that throughout the season.
Wesley (co-host or contributor)
He's.
Brent Rollins (PFF analyst and co-host)
He was fun to watch, that's for sure. And by the way, love this interview after the game. The way he talked after the game, that was real. All right, so the next one's kind of. I'm going to give you a guess. It's something I. Hopefully you don't peruse my Twitter account. It's looking at different quarterbacks. I might be able to pull it. Let me see here. If not, we can pull it up. All right, so quarterback A has 69.69.5 completion, 417 yards, throwing three touchdowns. Does not have a big time throw, does not have a turnover worthy play. So that's quarterback A. So good completion percentage about 400 yards, few touchdowns, no big time throws, no Turnovery plays. Quarterback B. 69 completion, 416 yards. It's one yard difference, two TDs. No big time throws, no turn of worthy plays. They are the only two power 4 QBs without either a big time throw. A turnover worthy play. Could I and I'll give you a hint for one. It's local to us.
Host Cball (likely a college football analyst or commentator)
Gunner Stockton.
Brent Rollins (PFF analyst and co-host)
Okay so QBB is Gunner Stockton.
Host Cball (likely a college football analyst or commentator)
Devin Dampier is the other one's my guess.
Brent Rollins (PFF analyst and co-host)
Okay. Highly ranked team.
Host Cball (likely a college football analyst or commentator)
Highly ranked team. I wish I had the rankings in front of me. It's not great numbers.
Brent Rollins (PFF analyst and co-host)
No, he's got no.
Host Cball (likely a college football analyst or commentator)
That's right. He's at 20. Yeah, that's right.
Brent Rollins (PFF analyst and co-host)
Highly ranked team who's also played sort of, I guess Booger eaters is maybe the or you know, scrimmage games.
Host Cball (likely a college football analyst or commentator)
Who you got?
Brent Rollins (PFF analyst and co-host)
Drew Aller.
Host Cball (likely a college football analyst or commentator)
Yeah.
Brent Rollins (PFF analyst and co-host)
There you go.
Host Cball (likely a college football analyst or commentator)
Yeah, and that's. And. And you want that box.
Brent Rollins (PFF analyst and co-host)
So my question for you, given the opponents that these teams who with the coaching staffs and who they played and who they've got coming up, things like that, is this by design or is this. Hey, this is a little alarming. A little bit. Maybe we need to take a look at that.
Host Cball (likely a college football analyst or commentator)
This is 100% by design. Like this is. I mean it's fair to, it's. To me it's obviously the numbers do lie sometimes but. But I think that it's by design. Drew Aller, you don't want to throw the football over the yard. Like you've got great backs given the rock feed them. Like that's going to be your M.O. it's not going to be throw it 35 times. If you do it, you'll lose more. You lose more football games. Like that's not who you want to be. Georgia is wants to be a ground and pound team that got him to championships like and then play action off of that. In order to do that you got to run the football like limit mistakes 100%. So yeah that's, that's by design. I think Aller is going to keep that pace the whole season, dude. He's just not a high turnover guy. Gunner Stockton needs to be a little bit more aggressive, I'll say that. And maybe push the ball down the field a little bit more. But he's also going to get his opportunities this week.
Brent Rollins (PFF analyst and co-host)
And last one is Did Bama let their best QB leave the building? Because have you watched Dylan Lonergan in the first two weeks at all at Boston College?
Host Cball (likely a college football analyst or commentator)
Yeah. And you know what? It's not surprising the first ever guest of our show was Billy o' Brien last year after they beat Florida State. He's a, he coached in the NFL. He's been an NFL head coach. He's been coaching off. He's forgotten more offensive football than we've ever thought about having. Like he's an elite coach. That dude obviously was an elite recruit. Dylan was from Brookwood High School, I think right down the road.
Brent Rollins (PFF analyst and co-host)
Down the road from us.
Host Cball (likely a college football analyst or commentator)
Right, right down the road from us. Elite level arm with an elite coach that's going to spin the ball all over the yard and give you pro style like that. Billy O is going to have good coaches because of his relationships, who he's worked with and this is going to continue to happen in the transfer portal for him.
Brent Rollins (PFF analyst and co-host)
It's a fun game to watch actually between Boston College and Michigan State there they didn't. Michigan State won in double overtime I think it was. But laundering, looking at his numbers in that game with basically little to no running game was just putting dots all and it was a lot of just straight drop back on him kind of things. So 8th and power 4 and passing grade, 3rd and TDs, no picks, 76 completion. He's balling out. And maybe Alabama let their best QB leave the building. But next we got to eliminate some people bringing in.
Wesley (co-host or contributor)
It is time for our College Football Playoff eliminators. I'll get the party started. Oklahoma State. The pokes are out, baby. Brent, look, you said It's. It's a one bid league in the Big 12, right? And if it was a 10 bid.
Host Cball (likely a college football analyst or commentator)
League it would still not be Oklahoma state.
Brent Rollins (PFF analyst and co-host)
All right, Mr.
Wesley (co-host or contributor)
Numbers, I got some numbers for you.
Host Cball (likely a college football analyst or commentator)
Okay, let's go.
Wesley (co-host or contributor)
The biggest point margin of defeat for teams that went on to make the College Football Playoff going back to the 14 era. Can y' all think about some blowouts of teams that still went on to make the cfp? I'll give y' all some hints.
Brent Rollins (PFF analyst and co-host)
I'll say my first thought is Ohio State would have a random blowout and then somehow find the way to make the playoff. Like Iowa killed him one year but they maybe didn't get in that year.
Wesley (co-host or contributor)
Ohio State is one of them. Notre Dame in 2020 lost to Clemson by 24 points. Before that it was Georgia's 23 point loss at Auburn in 2017. When we get to the 12 team era. Clemson's loss last year, 31 points against Georgia. Georgia, they still went in and made the cfp. So I'm not feeling too good about Oklahoma State losing by 66 to the Oregon Ducks. So sorry about your budget that you don't have Oklahoma State somehow with all that oil money and kicking you out of the playoffs.
Brent Rollins (PFF analyst and co-host)
T. Boone, stop.
Host Cball (likely a college football analyst or commentator)
Right in check. T Bone's pissed right now at you, bro. I can't. Can't believe you'd say that. I got. I got two that I put. Ready to say goodbye to Iowa.
Brent Rollins (PFF analyst and co-host)
Yeah, That's a good man.
Host Cball (likely a college football analyst or commentator)
I. I love you. I love the way you play. I love the way you fight. But you're. You're bringing this like sharpened rock and you're not David from the Bible like you're bringing a rock to a gunfight a lot of times with, with the ability to pass the ball and receivers to catch it. And so Iowa, I love you, but you're. I love the way you play and love the way you battle, but you're gone. And then the trade, the big trade of the off season, Nico, it's. It's over already. It's zero and two for ucla. It's not good. You lost to unlv. You got absolutely boat raced against Utah in week one. So Nico in company is. Is officially out of the playoffs really quickly into this season.
Brent Rollins (PFF analyst and co-host)
Mine is one that I technically is definitely not eliminated in any way because their loss was a non conference loss and they were.
Host Cball (likely a college football analyst or commentator)
It's called the eliminated game. You're eliminating them, but that's okay, you.
Brent Rollins (PFF analyst and co-host)
Know, but I'm going to eliminate the Florida Gators.
Wesley (co-host or contributor)
I eliminated myself.
Host Cball (likely a college football analyst or commentator)
Okay, well, west, did you tell them the point of the game is you're calling your shot. They're gone, they're out, they're done. You're. So you're, you're. You're saying Florida. You've already said USF's a better job. Now you're saying Florida has zero percent chance of making anything right?
Brent Rollins (PFF analyst and co-host)
I think Florida's done. I don't think they're going to win enough in the SEC to overcome that.
Host Cball (likely a college football analyst or commentator)
Loss that they just fork me. Done. Done. Gotcha. That's what Brett Rollins says. Adam. Boys. Adam.
Wesley (co-host or contributor)
All right, Gators fans are going to be chomping at Brent in the comments. All right, last thing. This has been a really long show. It's been great, though. A lot of great information and entertainment. Our victory formation of the week. Who won the weekend for you guys?
Brent Rollins (PFF analyst and co-host)
Go ahead.
Host Cball (likely a college football analyst or commentator)
We can make this short like It's Mississippi State. I mean I know you're going to say the same thing. We, we got the rundown and it said Brent said Mississippi. There's, there's. Listen, I'll give you Illinois. I'll give you Illinois and I'll let you cover Mississippi State. Illinois played their C game, went to Duke who I think is a good football team, is going to be a good football team by the end of the season and and made enough plays to and go and turn around the second half to go 31 to six in the second half, beat a really good team, didn't play their best and dominated them. So Illinois deserves their credit. But obviously Mississippi State victory formation me bro.
Brent Rollins (PFF analyst and co-host)
It's that environment. It's that home stadium. It's a great environment. Stark Vegas, they you know, took the goal post down and hadn't, you know, after last season 08 in the SEC only win two games. They hadn't won two in a row since like the middle part of 2023 with, with Leech. And you know, that was the unfortunate passing like all the negative that's happened. That was a uplifting program. Rising experience in Stark Vegas.
Host Cball (likely a college football analyst or commentator)
16 New transfer portal starters. Jeff Levy in any given Saturday showing you like he wants to turn this around and you can feel he's sincere when he talks. And so that's a like Georgia University of Georgia 2001. Like Coach Rick, I thought he was a good coach. Wasn't sure. Tennessee hobnail boot. Oh, this dude ain't bad. I believe you need that moment for your guys to buy in. Mississippi State got their moment. They got their big win. Jeff Levy gets credibility now. Like it starts to build momentum and just you hope they continue to grow and get better and get some SEC wins. But Mississippi State, they got in victory formation. They got the dub. That was fantastic.
Wesley (co-host or contributor)
I'm excited to see what Mississippi State does with this momentum and this home schedule. They'll have a few more chances with Tennessee coming to town. Texas, Georgia and Ole Miss still for the Egg bowl in Starkville. So that's going to be awesome. My winner of the weekend. Guys, we got more Bulldogs. The Bryant Bulldogs in fcs. They got their first FBS win in program history. They got paid 325 grand to beat UMass in UMass. And that adds to the USF payout that Florida paid 500 grand to lose to South Florida with the conference expansion. SEC going to nine games. I don't know how often we'll see these games in the SEC moving forward and as College football continues to change, but you got to love that, man. These programs getting paid to beat up on their big brother.
Host Cball (likely a college football analyst or commentator)
About army. Army got paid a bunch of money from Kansas State to go. Want that Ace like, thank you. Give me my money.
Wesley (co-host or contributor)
Sick. So, yeah.
Host Cball (likely a college football analyst or commentator)

Wesley (co-host or contributor)

Host Cball (likely a college football analyst or commentator)
Something brewing. Something.
Brent Rollins (PFF analyst and co-host)
Whatever. You get to come up with that, Wes. We'll talk.
Host Cball (likely a college football analyst or commentator)
We'll talk about that.
Brent Rollins (PFF analyst and co-host)
But we got a team we're talking about, that's for sure.
Wesley (co-host or contributor)
Yeah. Every week, every Tuesday, a deep dive on one specific team. That's going to be awesome. Podcast audio version coming out Tuesday and Thursday and then Saturday night is really exciting as we have our prisoner of the moment reaction to all the games and then picks up as well throughout the week. So a full schedule on cball.
Host Cball (likely a college football analyst or commentator)

Episode: College Football Week 3: GUT CHECK | Bullish on USF? | CFB's Biggest Winners
Date: September 9, 2025
Host: David Pollack (Cball)
Co-host: Brent Rollins (PFF analyst)
Special Contributor: Wesley
This lively episode dives deep into the standout moments, emerging storylines, and eyebrow-raising results from College Football Week 3. David Pollack and Brent Rollins argue over controversial rules, analyze the SEC’s depth, debate USF's legitimacy, and break down pivotal upcoming matchups. The hosts also select the week’s biggest winners and eliminate three teams from CFP contention. Key insights blend humor, sharp analysis, and classic gridiron anecdotes throughout.
David Pollack’s Rant:
“It's your job to stay away from the punt returner ... there’s too much gray. Get the gray out."
(02:16)
Brent Rollins’ Response:
"The person did the thing where they threw their hands up and just kind of slid right in between them ... That’s good learn."
(03:56)
Brent’s Rant:
"That should not be a penalty in any way, shape, or form ... It's your job [offense] to hold your water ... This is part of the chess match." (05:15)
"The offense has every single advantage ... If I can move and screw you up, that’s your fault." (05:54)
Tone:
Frustrated, passionate, and unapologetically pro-football "chess match."
Brent notes:
"Every team in the league can beat the other, and it's just going to be a complete coin flip."
(08:01)
Pollack rebuts “SEC bias”—but brings receipts:
"Yeah, I think that makes the Big 12 get one bid." (14:08)
Prompted by live chat (11:00):
"Probably because they have the best resume ... they just went to Gainesville and beat a talented Florida team. ... Has there been a better, you know, resume so far than usf?"
(10:11)
“And their coach might be the next coach of Florida ... which is a better job?” (11:41–12:07)
Georgia’s Defense: Best unit in the matchup, deep & athletic.
"Georgia’s defense is really, really good ... they've got some physicality up front..."
(19:07)
Tennessee’s Offense:
Georgia’s Offense:
QB Watch: Gunner Stockton (Georgia) not as decisive as in last year’s playoff; needs to “let it rip.”
"There's nothing about him through two weeks that has been on time ... Maybe there's a fear factor there..."
(24:28)
ND struggled with Miami's pass rush; Cassius Howle (A&M) is a pass-rushing menace:
"Three straight sacks on three straight plays ... If you’re a one-trick pony with speed, it’s not going to be there. But when you can win three different ways for three sacks..."
(27:08)
ND’s O-line graded terribly (25.6) against Miami per PFF; will need to go ground-and-pound and use weapons carefully.
“Their offense against South Florida was not good ... Lagway’s got this cannon ... but it’s very compartmentalized.”
(30:28)
“With their first series was magical against Virginia Tech. Besides that, it was ... a spanking [by Vandy].”
(32:29)
“This is a get right game. ... Last week you messed around with Troy, almost found out ... but you took care of business. Georgia Tech ... [but] Clemson has to prove it.”
(34:49)
“I’ll take the under. ... Arkansas can be this, you know, eye stopping this Ole Miss offense.”
(36:53)
On John Mateer (Oklahoma QB):
"This Mateer guy, he’s never done that before, Brent. ... The dude’s an absolute freak show stud."
(43:12)
On confidence in SEC teams:
“In the SEC, literally 16 teams can beat the other 15.”
(09:40)
On eliminating teams from the playoff hunt:
"If it was a 10-bid league it would still not be Oklahoma State."
(50:00)
"You’re bringing this like sharpened rock and you’re not David from the Bible ... you’re bringing a rock to a gunfight."
(51:33)
"It’s over already ... zero and two ... officially out."
"I think Florida’s done. ... They’re not going to win enough in SEC to overcome that loss."
(52:55)
Starkville, “Stark Vegas,” celebrated after two SEC wins following years of struggle.
(54:03–54:29)
"This is 100% by design. ... Gunner Stockton needs to be a little bit more aggressive, I’ll say that."
(47:33)
"Maybe Alabama let their best QB leave the building."
(49:13)
