And how about that Polack interception in the end zone?
B
Well, it's David Pollock and I think people are going to learn what kind of ballplayer he is. He's got a heart of a lion. I'm really proud of that kid.

This is C Ball. Get Ball. College football's top show for football analysis, predictions and coach interviews. Now here's your host, three time all American, seven time Emmy award winner.
B
All right, week 13 is upon us. Thanksgiving is upon us. Christmas around the corner. Me and Brent will give you a little Christmas music update because we are Christmas a holics. If you're not, that's okay. This is just probably not your podcast, so if you are, jump on in, baby. The weather's warm. All right, first big news. James Franklin officially gets a gig. And this is the first major move of the off season. Remember, this is like the all time season high. Like we've never had anything like this in college football. Like the buyouts are already. It's like 185 million, you know, 11 coaches gone. It's going to get to, to 250. Like, like it's going to get there. That's how much we've seen. Just the amount of money spent just to tell coaches to go away. Man, if I'm a Virginia Tech fan, like I am absolutely jacked. I'm playing inner Sandman right now. I'm running around the house. I'm excited. When you think about Virginia Tech and this job in this era, like since, since their best coach left, since Frank Beamer left it, it has not been great. And Brent Pry finished 16 and 24 and gets fired. But before that I think it was fuente that won 10 games, nine games. And then like the last seven season or last six years for, for Virginia Tech, like they've won seven games, that, that's the best finish they've had. So it's in the acc. Um, so obviously it's, it's, it's not as the competition week in and week out isn't, isn't as bad, isn't as hard as the Big Ten where James Franklin came from. James Franklin. Speaking of James, like, so, so the Virginia Tech job, they should be happy, they should be jacked up because they got someone that's a proven winner. They got someone who has won nine games in back to back seasons at Vanderbilt. So he's done it at a, at a lower tier job, went to a higher tier job, was, was a couple of plays away from playing for a national title a year ago and so they get him to come. He's so, he's got the history of building, you know, Vanderbilt, he was at Maryland where it was very successful, proven good recruiter in the Virginia area. Like he's been at JMU too before in his, in his recruit or his coaching career. So very, very familiar too with nil. The college football world, like that's. That to me is a big part of this. Again, assistant coaches not as familiar with it because they haven't had to do it. James Franklin's been there, done that, bought the T shirt and hat. If I'm Virginia Tech, man, I'm excited. You know, Penn State wanted to take the next step and beat the great teams and go win a national championship. James Franklin wasn't that guy. And he tried, you know, changing up his coordinators and doing something to get there. He couldn't get him there. But James Franklin can get you to nine wins, can get you to eight wins, can get you to 10 wins. Like. And if I'm a hokey, I'm pretty excited about that because we haven't had that. Like you haven't been able to celebrate eight wins in over six years. So in that league, man, where, where Clemson, fsu, Miami's kind of got some footing and then everyone else who's all up for the, the conference still in the, in the hunt, like, it's not a, it's not, it's not a Penn State, you know, Michigan and Ohio State league where they've got more talent than you at every single position a lot of the times, or way more talent than you on the field. So I think it's a, it's a good day to be Virginia Tech. This should get you absolutely excited. And James Franklin was, when he got fired, he was immediately, you know, one of those guys that was going to be hired for, for a big gig probably. But then obviously tons of jobs start opening up and you think about where he lands. If I'm Virginia Tech, I'm jacked. I got a proven coach that can win. That's one at different stops along the way that weren't top tier jobs. Now if I'm looking for a national championship, then he didn't, he didn't deliver that at Penn State, but recruited. You saw the talent come in. It got better and better. He remember what, he also took over, like he took over a Penn State program that was kind of in disarray. Took it to the next level, the next level. The next level now couldn't break the ceiling, couldn't get to that next spot, but obviously won a lot of football games. And Virginia Tech will be extremely happy with that. So I think it's the first hire, it's the first of many, obviously, this off season where people are going to be spending some money. I'll be interested to see the amount of purse that they have to spend because Virginia Tech's been very open about raising funds to get a good coach. Like, that was a big part of Virginia Tech and them getting a top tier coach was they were going to have to commit to nil and to be able to buy players. All right, next we go to Lane Kiffin, because here's the thing. Lane Kiffin is the ultimate domino. So Lane Kiffin's up here when it comes to college football. And after Lane Kiffin does whatever Lane Kiffin is going to do, like, it now becomes everyone else, literally like Lane Kiffin first, and then he falls and then, okay, where is the seating for the next job? Who is the next guy in the future? And reports about Lane Kiffin's travel is, is all over the place. I mean, you've heard all kinds of stuff. And where, where, where planes have been that have picked up and gone to certain destinations. I don't know. I don't know all the details of all those destinations. I know that if lane really was 100% sold on being an Ole Miss, it had been done already. He just signed it. Like, he just signed the contract extension. He'd be there. I love Lane. I know he's happy. But I think Lane is absolutely torn between, do I go and chase the next step? Which he's been to a lot of steps. He's happy. We've documented it, man. His family's there, his son's there. They're thriving. He's kicked alcohol in the butt. He's growing in his faith. Like, everything about Lane is going like this. And for me, I'm like, I don't want him to leave, I want him to stay. Because I think that there's something to be said for being happy. There's something to be said for, you know, finding a spot where you're really successful and you can take that next step. So I think that's a, that's a good thing for lane there at 10 wins already. Here's the thing. So reportedly, according to the Athletic, the Rebels give Lane Kiffin an ultimatum to decide on their future. So before the Egg Bowl, Friday, November 28, Lane Kiffin needs to have a decision in his mind and be made up about, you know, whether he's going to. To depart or stay. I. I don't know if that helps the situation, but if I'm. If I'm Ole Miss, I want to know. Because the portal window closing in December and all the things that go with recruiting and. Or recruiting coming, the portal window, all of that stuff coming together, man, like, it'd be nice to know exactly where you're at. It'd be nice to know who's coaching you. Players go places because of, because of relationships. Like, that's a big part of it. So, you know, with Lane kind of in limbo right now, I don't know, man. I don't know. I don't know what's going to happen. But still, if I'm. If I'm. If I'm Lane Kiffin, if I'm old Miss, I'm trying everything I can to keep him because he's a stud and he's done such a great job. So, Brett, I don't know if you had anything on. On either one of those, but I think Lane.
A
Okay, we'll hit each one first. So what's more likely? James Franklin wins the ACC championship at Virginia Tech or Miami?
B
Because neither has happened. Miami's never done it, like, since. That's crazy. Yeah, I lean Miami because of what they have. But. But do you agree this is. Do you agree this is good for. For Virginia Tech? Because you're not. You're a known James Franklin. Not fan. Like, you're not a fan. Like, you're. You're a unfan. What do you call that? You're a hater. A little bit of a hater.
A
That's fine. Deservedly so. At his. For the, you know, couldn't get to the ultimate prize at Penn State, but.
B
What about Vanderbilt winning nine games and back to back seasons?
A
So this, it feels very much like a. Hey, we just want to be relevant. We just want to be relevant. We want to be okay. We want something to cheer about because.
B
Virginia Tech's good with that. Like, they're okay with that.
A
Very much like West Virginia when it was like, hey, we. We're tired of just being meh and not really existing in the landscape. And this can make them. Maybe not met is kind of my thing with that. But with Kiffin, he's gone. If he wasn't gone, he. He wouldn't be taking the visits. He would have said, look, I'm staying here. Let's end this.
B
They would have already signed the extension.
A
He would have done that. Like, they're saying, he's gone now. It's just a matter of what's he want. Does he want to play Kirby Smart every year or does he want to go to lsu? So, like it's just which one? Which and, and, and want to go to LSU and have to play Ole Miss every year.
B
Yeah, and that's. I'll, I'll change that to you. I'll spin that back on you. I think the obvious answer is LSU when it comes to football. The governor makes a twist on this, but how about this? Do you want Lagway in Dallas or do you want. Or do you want an offense or do you want an offense now that you don't know anything about it, you don't know what it's going to be. You don't know what it's going to look like at the quarterback spot. Lagway gives you some. Okay, I've seen that. Like, that could be really, really good. I could work with him because he's the master at making it simplistic and making it easy and, and maximizing what quarterbacks can. Trinidad freaking Chambers.
A
Counterpoint, like counterpoint Trinidad.
B
I mean, it's unbelievable. So it's unbelievable.
A
So speaking of Lagway, I had a ra. I was randomly looking because Gunner Stockton's looking. Recently talked about his numbers in the fourth quarter. Lowest graded, lowest passing grade in the fourth quarter in the power four this year. DJ Lagway.
B
Yeah.
A
Struggle.
B
All right, well, we slayed that. That's that. There's a lot left. Plenty. We'll have plenty. We'll have plenty left on that the rest of the season. You know, it's been talked about a little bit and I think it's interesting. Like you see some adversity for Indiana when, when they face Penn State and you watch them come through in the clutch and you watch them make plays. You saw them earlier in the season against Iowa. You saw them make plays in a big time moment. You saw Fernando Mendoza at Oregon throw a pick six, rebound, bring their team back down the field. You know that, that proven that that adversity moment. Ohio State a year ago tasted a lot of adversity late in the season, losing to Michigan again. And then what happened? That thing freaking forged them. They were pissed off. They were upset. It was toxic. Remember Herb street was talking about the fans turning on him when they don't get a first down and how pissed they were. Ryan Day is going to get fired, by the way. It was so tops to so toxic that that's why Jim Knowles left. Literally, like because it was so negative. And it was so all the time. And then what happened? They go on a string, they win the national championship. We knew how talented they were, but they get hot. How about, how about exhibit A this year? How about, how about Alabama early in the season, losing to Florida State west, jumping on here and eliminating, eliminating them. Week one, eliminating Alabama from the College Football Playoff. Like everybody dumping on them, showing videos, all these tape gurus that are just awesome. And just look at the efforts. Saban would have never, never would have done this, never would have, never would have allowed this. Like, this is pathetic. Kaylin DeBore sucks. I'm cashing. If I win the lottery, I'm firing Caleb DeBoer. What happens? Eight straight now. They lost this week, but it pissed them off. It got them riled up. Texas A and M, can you get that without a loss? Like this week was pretty close. Halftime vitriol. Needed it, needed it. Needed you to make a big play, needed you to come through, handled some adversity, man, like down that many in the first half, down 27. Everything looked bad. You're playing at home, every reason to go, hey, first one of the season. Give me my mulligan. 17 to 21 year old kids, 22 nowadays, maybe 25, 26 year old kids, right? Like it's crazy. They could have cashed in the chips. They didn't. They kept fighting. So Georgia very much in that, in that, in that conversation, had to make big plays in big moments. You've seen it. You've seen Gunner come through time and time again. Ole Miss, you've seen them make big plays. Like all these teams, Indiana and Georgia and A and M and Alabama and Ohio State, oh wait, Ohio State hasn't had that yet. They haven't had to have that moment yet. Like they haven't had. Listen, Ohio State fans, don't apologize. Like taking, taking your open palm to people's faces is not your fault. But there was something to it a year ago that kind of got you over the edge and got you to play with a little bit of an edge and, and a little bit of a chip when you needed it. And so, you know, do you get that later in the season? They might get that with Michigan, right? They might get that with, with Indiana. But I do think, you know, having that, there's something to be said for your team really, really getting challenged, getting pushed. And they did in the Texas game. It was a good game. Like it was a really good game. 14 to 7, close game, you know, late in the game they had to make Plays Texas got a little bit hot. Arch got a little bit hot. But, but Brent, I mean, I, I think there is something to. When you face adversity and you have those moments and how you respond. Because Ohio State a year ago absolutely responded like champs, and that's why they became champs.
A
Yeah. So here's, here's my perspective on this because I think it, it. There's actually two. Because there's player perspective and then there's coach perspective. And from the player perspective, oftentimes, like, you're still good. Like there's a belief, there's a, hey, we got this, maybe a positive energy if you know you can handle the adversity. And it's maybe belief in your quarterback as well that they, you know, that they, that individual can handle the. Any sort of adversity or when you're down. But I actually think this is more of an issue or more of a thing for the coaching staff. It's like, okay, now that we can't do these five things that we thought we could do and we're getting killed. What can I trust? And figuring out what you can trust, who you can go to. I think it's as or, hey, we need to scrap this plan. Much like Ohio State, we need to do things a lot differently. Like, I think it's as much a coaching thing and fig. And learning from a coaching perspective as it is a player.
B
Yeah, I think, well, I think that coaches learn their players better. When you face adversity. I think coaches figure out what your players can and can't do in certain moments against certain competitions when, like Marcel Reed, the fact that, you know Marcel Reed can drop back and throw the ball every single snap almost in the second half, that makes you feel good because guess what? Two minute drill. Cut it loose. End of the game, cut it loose. I ain't scared. Like, I've been there, done that. I know what he can do. I know what he can't do. So I think it allows you to play. Yeah, a little bit more free, maybe more aggressive because a lot of. For example, CJ Carr to start the season. If you watch the first half versus Miami, the. The cuff, the handcuffs were firmly on him. Like it was, throw it one yard. Throw it five yards. Throw it five yards. Don't screw this up for us. Early in the game. Second half, they get down, it's like, okay, dude, just, just go throw the rock. And now you've seen the last, you know, part of the season is yards per attempt is one of the biggest in the country. Because they trust him. So that, that's. So. Yeah, that's a part of.
A
That's why I think players are going to, hey, play. What's the play call? What's my responsibility? Like in the moment, you're sort of dialed into actually playing the game. The coaching part of this is, okay, what do I know I can go to. What can I now do? Much like with Kirby Smart and his. This, I think his feel for the game. We kind of talked about this on Saturday, but it's the confidence and feel and knowing that, hey, I think my team can just own this game if I make these decisions right here.
B
The cajones.
A
Cojones. That was the title of my post game article, Confidence in cajones.
B
Confidence in cojones. All right. I love this exercise. We do it every week. It's the, it's the, it's the top 12, bro. I'm going to do this for you. Like I do this, okay? So I want you to bear with me. And again, this is not the, the top 12 teams. This is the playoff and how it would be, how they would go through it. So inserting, you know, certain teams into the, into the equation. Okay, to me, just, just join in with me before y' all just overreact and see your team in a certain spot and, and take a, take a whiz all over my top 12. Okay. Listen into the reasoning and put yourself in the shoes and try to make these decisions and what you would prioritize. Okay. One through four to me, pretty easy. Ohio State clearly number one. Still looking for a signature win. Sure. Still looking for that. Still dominating, still undefeated. Indiana still undefeated. Still at number two. A. M. Heroic comeback. Unbelievable. Still number three. Common sense. Georgia moves right to number four. Like close loss to Alabama is their loss. Besides that, man, quality win after quality win. You've seen that team get a lot better. Okay. One through four. Love it. Five and six. So here I got five and six between two different teams. That's it. Just two different teams. I got Texas Tech and I got Ole Miss. And I'm. I'm going to give you real quickly Ole Miss if I give you Ole Miss. Played at UGA and at Norman, Oklahoma in back to back games. Could have won the Georgia game. Played really, really well. Didn't lost the game, lost a shootout in Athens. Nothing to be ashamed about whatsoever. Took care of business in Norman. Beat lsu. Everybody's beating lsu by the way. That's a common theme when it comes to the league now. So I'm like that's you start comparing wins and you're like, all right, that's the wins, okay? That's, that's Ole Miss. That's Ole misses resume. And that's who, that's who they've lost to. That's who they beat of importance. Okay? Texas Tech slapped Utah and byu. Slapped him, like literally slapped him across the grill. Took care of them. Defense takes a backseat to no one's in the country. Like, they don't take a backseat to anybody. Lost to Arizona State with Sam Levitt, right? Sam Levitt was there. He put a game winning drive together with a backup quarterback. They played with their backup quarterback. So who are you putting at 5? Who are you putting at 6? Like you could, you could make a case for both. Okay, I got Texas Tech at 5 because I think Texas Tech played with their start without their starting quarterback and that's their loss. And it was a good game. It was a close game just like it was with Ole Miss. But I just, I think they clapped everybody else. They slapped everybody else around, didn't hang out, didn't hang with anybody else. So it's a coin flip to me. I go with Texas Tech. Ole Miss has nothing to be ashamed of either. Both these teams are really, really good. But to me, 5 and 6 are in that cluster. Okay, next cluster, bro. I just, I don't care, like, I don't care how you do this seven through 10. So remember, you got one through four already. So you got Ohio State taking care of business. You got Indiana, you got A and M, you got Georgia. Then we went Texas Tech 5, we went Ole Miss 6. So now 7 through 10, here's your teams to me that you have to choose from. Oregon, Notre Dame. Oh, you and Bama. So I'm going to, I'm going to lay this out for you so you can see how not easy of a decision this is. Oregon's played four teams with a winning record, lost by 10, won by two, slapped Minnesota and beat Northwestern in a pretty competitive game. So that's Oregon, one loss, four teams with a winning record. I was not ranked. That's their best win. Haven't beaten a ranked opponent, lost by double digits at home. So that's, that's something to consider. Notre Dame, Notre Dame is a, they got a 10 point win at USC. They slapped Navy. Who's, who's on the precipice of being ranked, by the way, slap Pittsburgh. And two quality losses. So two quality losses. Like you're talking about losing by three to Miami and, and what we Just kind of Talked about by 1 to A&M ou let's go to them next. 11 point win versus Michigan at a conference at Tennessee and Bama back to back weeks. So trending this direction, beating ranked teams on the road, which is the hardest thing I've said to do in college football. They lost to Ole Miss and they lost to Texas. Two pretty quality opponents and guess what? Matier's thing is real. Matier's thing is real. Like it's real. So we can talk about it. The dude had surgery. He's not playing as well as he had. I think you're seeing a little bit of an uptick from him. So that was seven through ten. That's three of the teams. Now I'm going to give you Bama and this is the one that we're going to get weird with Brent when Brent comes in in the second because like how do you look at this? They've got the best win, they got a top four win, they got the UGA win at their place, big time win. They got a Vandy win, they got a Missouri win, they got a Tennessee win. Like you got four really good wins and then you've got one quality loss, the quality loss to Oklahoma. But how do you weigh the horse crap loss to Florida State? Like that's a bad loss. So it's a horrible loss. So of all those teams we don't have a horrible loss up there. Like Oregon competed with Indiana. Indiana's the number ranked 2, 2 ranked team in the country. Like Notre Dame lost by four combined points. Bama lost by more combined points in or by more points in one game than than A and M or than Notre Dame did against A and M and Miami. Like oh you quality losses. So I think the way I ended up with it leave the graphic up west so I can see it which is fantastic. That's perfect. So I ended up going 7 Oklahoma, 8 Notre Dame, 9 Oregon and 10 Alabama. Brent, you're not going to tell me there's a right answer because I'm not going to listen to that because there isn't a right answer. But what, what do you look at this now and go okay, I deem the horrible loss that's on the schedule more than I look at the non quality wins from Oregon. What, what, what is it that you value more there that that you would have with 7 through 10 right there. It's hard.
A
It wins. Yes it is. And this is. And what's it's. The amazing thing is is what's going to get even harder is if you have. There's a possibility that you got like eight, 10 and two teams depending upon how these next couple weeks go. Obviously right now we don't have those results. But the thing that I looked at and this was from our, from our C ball get ball friend Chris Felica the Bear. It posted today or yesterday, I think it was top 40 Sagarin wins. So Jeff Sagarin, who used to be a part of the BCS and like all his sort of computer rankings, Alabama, Georgia and Ole miss all have 6. A M actually has 7. Oklahoma has 5. Like no name 3. Oregon 2 based on what you're looking at here. So in terms of those great wins. But the thing with Oregon is they're going to get. If they went out, it's not going to matter.
B
But doing that right, it doesn't matter because. Because they're going to beat two good teams. Correct.
A
Right.
B
They've earned their way. Like, like when I start, if I start looking at this resume at the end of the season, not, not anybody, nobody else is really going to add a lot to it. When I'm looking at Notre Dame, they're not going to add anything to their resume. When I'm looking at ou, they're not really going to add something great to their resume. Looking at Bama, they can beat Auburn, but that's not going to really add anything to their current resume. Now listen, that's different. If Bama goes to the SC championship game and if they play A and M, they can add a top three win to their resume and they can jump right back up into this discussion. So I think what Alabama lost was a buy. Like they had a chance to get a buy like which was they lost this weekend. But, but that's where Oregon, it doesn't really matter because they can play themselves back in. But I think by doing this exercise, Brent, I just love showing fans like this is what you've got to take into account. It's not as easy as just slapping somebody up there and be like, oh, they suck. They haven't beaten anybody. I don't disagree with it. Oregon doesn't have a great win, but they've also won. They've won all their games. They've taken care of business. They don't have a bad loss. So Alabama does have a bad loss. Oklahoma obviously trending. Notre Dame trending. So you know that that's what we went with.
A
I, I will say this. I'm going to stand stick up for Wes here. Bama is very much now in the Potential, you better win the Iron bowl or you might not be in the playoff.
B
Oh, yeah. Oh, they've got to win.
A
Then even looking at their. Like they lose an SEC championship, like the whole. Are you in? If you're in. If you're in the conference championship game, you're in. I think that's conversation might be interesting depending upon who, how these things. Okay, but here's a question with the Oregon discussion.
B
Okay.
A
Is this week a playoff game for them?
B
Yeah, yeah.
A
I think.
B
I think if they lose the usc, then USC is going to be in and they're going to be out jumps ahead of them. And I think USC is going to absolutely jump ahead of them. I think you got Miami sitting there waiting to pounce. You got BYU waiting to pounce. You got Utah waiting to pounce. 100%. Yes, I think that's. And we didn't tell you the last two, by the way, seven through 10 was tough, but the last two is Georgia Tech and James Madison. Because the weekly we roll it, we spin it and we throw that she on the wall is JMU this week because that's exactly what the group of five is. How about the autocorrect in the AP poll? You got to love that. They ranked three G5 teams this week. Really?
C
Three?
B
They put three. Like, man, shut the front door.
A
Navy had a big. Navy had a big win.
B
It was a great win. But let's not get crazy. Like, come on, man. Like, it's not what we're doing here.
A
But what's scary about all this is just where the world exists, where you've got 10 and two Miami 10 and two Vanderbilt 10 and two Utah 10 and two Oregon, 10 and two USC. I mean, heck, if Michigan throws the biggest wrinkle on the earth in this and beats ohio state, they're 10 and two. Like potentially 10. Like, it could get insane. Now, obviously, it typically works itself out and there's usually maybe last year. I was thinking about with last year, Bama, South Carolina and Ole Miss, you know, that were right there on the cusp. They all won their last game. Like, so they already had three losses. That's not the case right now. And they're not. And it's not going to be the case potentially. So it's.
B
I like the question.
A
This was the hardest week, always.
B
Yes. Five till midnight. What if Texas beats Texas A and M? You'll hear that in a second. I'll take care of the Texas debate in a second. But Texas A and M is absolutely still in and well ranked above and now they might not go to the SEC championship game with, with Brent's website that he has that he can put in all the variables and all the things and yeah.
A
Strength of schedule or something or strength of something matters now like, because Georgia could potentially still end up in there. All right. But locks. So that's leads into the. Do you think A M is a lock?
B
100% a m. Zen.
A
How many, how many locks do you have right now?
B
A lot. Because I think Georgia can absolutely lose to Georgia Tech and I still think they're a lock.
A
Okay. So that was one that I was writing this down. So I wrote down it's a lock. Ohio State, Indiana locks, both locks, a M lock, 10 and two Notre Dame lock. I think obviously one big 12 champ, one ACC champ in the group of five team. So that's, that gets you to seven spots.
B
I'm, I'm ready to put Texas Tech as a lock. Like because now the Big 12, that's the. I think that's the. The ACC is getting one. They're getting one. The Big 12 with Texas Tech could get two. Because the Big 12, if you lost to BYU in the regular season or beat him in the regular season like crazy, lost a close game in the Big 12 championship game. We got SMU, Clemson from a year ago.
A
Let's say we got, we got it. Well, I had that question for later, but the one that was interesting to me when I was writing down the locks was Georgia.
B
They're a lock.
A
What. So what if somehow they lose to Georgia Tech? Because I mean, that could have happened last year and then they end up in the SEC championship game and lose that game and now you're ten and three and two your last, you lose your last two games. Yeah, well, that's what's going to be so hard about some of this stuff.
B
I got you. But, but, but how, how you lose is the only way you're out. Like if you, if you go to a championship game and you get curb stomped and you lost the last two games, maybe that's a debate, but it's not a debate if it's close games. Like, it's just not because you're not going to get penalized for playing an extra game. If you were ranked ahead, you're not going to get penalized.
A
But we have a lot of this same conversation tomorrow night too, 100%.
B
But that's okay. But let's go to, let's go to our next one though. Let's go to our.
A
Let's eliminate people.
B
Yeah, let's go to our college football eliminator because it had to do with our boys. Question in the chat. Texas. Bye. Bye. Thank you. Good season. Hook them. Preseason one. All the hype. Arch Manning, all that good stuff, man, you gone because you got Molly whopped. You got destroyed. You got beat down. You got physically overtaken. If this was a close game, Brent, and they beat A and M, I told you Texas would be the first three loss team to make it in the College Football Playoff. You got wood shedded. You got beat down. Absolutely not. Texas is gone. For me.
A
I was looking to see. So they were. Were they one or was Ohio State one? In the first week of the season.
B
Ohio State was one.
A
Okay, so Texas was two. And then you got like Penn State.
B
You mean Indiana?
A
No, the very first week of the season.
B
Oh, yeah, it was. It was one and it was one and two. Yeah.
C
Yeah.
A
I think Texas was one, but Penn State was probably three. Four. Clemson was up there.
B
Geez, it's changed very much.
A
So I'm eliminating the South Florida Bulls.
B
Because Alex Golish, friend of the show.
A
Friend of the show. But they can't even make. I don't even think they can make the American championship now because even East Carolina has a better. Like it's five and one in the conference. They. They got two conference losses. They dunski. Bye.
B
Bye.
A
Great start. Big wins early. Couldn't sustain it.
B
Wesley, you awake over there? Because we're gonna need yours here, bro. Ski.
C
Yeah, well, did I look like I was asleep?
B
Just making sure. Who you got?
A
Who you.
B
Who you kicking out of the party, bro?
C
Sorry, bro. Your Duke Blue Devils are out five and five. A lot of these I go through and I just look at like, all right, who dropped from two losses to three losses. But I had to factor in Duke's hopes in the ACC race because they're five and five now. But it's only their second ACC loss. But Virginia, man, when that. When that ACC race was on the line for Duke, they just wilted, man.
B
Boat race.
C
The who's cruise.
B
Tow them up.
C
Yeah, back to your Bama deal. All right. SEC homer. Oh, oh, I guess your SEC homer. Slash Bama. Bama hatred kind of goes head to head here. Okay, I. I hear you on the Notre Dame. On the Notre Dame situation, but with all those great wins, though, man, I mean, still. Still not. Not seeing them. And who. Who the heck is Oregon beaten? Well, I'm just surprised. I'm a little surprised Bama's not a little bit higher. And that cluster 7 through 10 if.
B
You put Bama higher. The only one I would argue with and say that you're going to hell in a handbasket is if you put Bama over ou. But like if you had Bama over Notre Dame, I don't care. If you had Bama over Oregon, I don't care. Like I'm just saying to me the albatross of the Florida State loss, which is absolutely atrocious. It becomes more of a factor now when, when now you have two losses.
C
Yeah, that's what I, that's really what I wanted to ask you. I mean, yeah, we haven't really been holding that loss against them. It's like kind of. Oh, just flew away. It didn't happen. And now, now they have a two point loss and it's like firmly on the map for Bama.
B
A two point loss in which they gave up 251 yards or 215 yards. Like they turned the ball over three times. They had a field goal block. Like there's a lot of things that could have gone their way back.
A
B.
B
That's what I'm saying. I don't care where you have Bama. I'm just not going to have them. Like it's not allowed in my top six. Like as long as Texas Tech and, and. And Ole Miss are some point five or six. If you have Bama, if you have Bama in the seven hole now I'll argue because oh, you just beat him. I put ou in the 7 hole and then besides that, everybody else. So yeah, I just listen again. FSU loss was a bad loss. They lost by more points than Notre dame. Lost to two opponents that are both in the top 15. So I don't know. Tomato, tomato.
C
I wanted to call out one question that kind of addresses the SEC race. Ktka Bama fan in the chat's been pretty active. Where does Alabama go in your top 12 if they beat Auburn but don't make the SEC championship game? Are they hosting a playoff game? I don't think that's possible. I think if Bama beats Auburn, KTK they're as far as I know unless there's a lot of craziness with the divisional standings and your strength of record. I think Bama's in. So when the Iron bowl and you're.
B
But. But Auburn. But Alabama fans like true Alabama fans who are great and know the sport and follow their team. They are scared shootless because Auburn at Auburn. Adam Rooks will be in the chat in a second because they. He knows what Happens like Alabama fans keep it quiet.
A
Just.
B
Just whisper. But you know what happens when you go to Jordan Hare? That's when the weird wackiness kick sixes. Weird things happen. It's just. I don't know why you can't explain it, but Alabama fans are now like, your mulligan's gone. That's the problem. Your mulligan's gone. And. And then you got to go play Auburn with nothing to lose, new coach, all that stuff, man, I don't know. I'm still. I'd still be happy where I'm at, Alabama fans from where I started, but. All right, Brent, give me some numbers, bro. CFIs. We got some good ones this week in the ACC. We starting. Are we starting the ACC? We starting with out west in the old Pac 12 rivalry.
A
Starting in the Pac 12. But I actually. I don't think. I think Georgia can go to the SEC championship game even if Bama wins and beats Auburn.
B
Hey, tomorrow night we're going to talk about if you want to go to the SEC championship game.
A
That's a great question.
B
That's a good question that we will have some opinions on.
A
One, got a shout out. KJ Carter in the chat said Duke has been out since basketball season started. Did you realize that Carlos Boozer has twin sons that are awesome for Duke?
B
They're freaking fantastic.
A
Like, did not. I didn't know that until I saw them recently, but they're really good. Anyway. All right. We talked about the Michigan. I'm gonna start there first. Michigan being minus 5 in the turnover margin and still winning. So I've went into a hole in the Internet, you know, dark places on the Internet to find some of this stuff. And evidently it's never happened, really. Never. Never happened to where exactly? Minus five. Five. You had five. The other team had zero. Never one. Never. It's the first time ever somebody.
B
Has it been six.
A
I. I don't. I just. I saw that number. So on some. And this was a random. Like Facebook. It wasn't a. Like, it was just random.
B
Well, here. Here. Here's the thing about that. You know, Brent, with the numbers. From the numbers to standpoint, every turnover you have more than the other team. The percentages just keep skyrocketing to go to the other side. So the fact that they overcame five, that's just absolutely asinine.
A
I also found an article that said Purdue had 11 turnovers against Illinois in 1943 and still won, that that record still stands today and that the most turnovers ever In a single NCAA game was Georgia had 13 against Georgia Tech in 1951.
C
13.
A
I found those random numbers for you.
B
God, you are awesome. Brent. This is. This is why you. You. If you don't like Brent, you're an idiot.
A
So. All right, so now let's get to the true numbers. Promo code. Get ball. 25. Pff. All this sort of stuff comes from them for the most part. Oregon, it's good to have Kenny first up. Or usc. Oregon, it's good to have Kenyan Sadiq back. Dante Moore was 27 or 30. You want to do some quick math for me, percentage wise? What's that? What?
B
That is really good. I'm gonna go. Let's see if you doubled that 27 of 34. 6, 50.
A
90.
B
Yeah. 90, baby.
A
That's the single best game of his career. And it wasn't just dink and dunk. He was 10 of 12 for 196 yards in a touchdown on throws over 10 yards. But here's. So with each of these games this week, I've got a number and then I've got a question for you. So my question for you is, do you remember the last time USC beat Oregon? They have only played four times in the last decade. Sam Donald, 2016. USC 45, Oregon 20. I was going to ask you who the QBs in the game were. You got one of them already.
B
Sam Darnold, Sam Donald and Marcus Mariota.
A
Justin Herbert. Oh, Mario was 14.
B
Two NFL dudes right there.
A
How about, who were the coaches? Just. This was nine years ago. Nope.
B
Was Crystal Ball.
C
Nope.
B
No, no. Crystal.
A
Does great on TV now.
B
Mark Helfrich.
A
Yes. Who's phenomenal on TV now. If anybody listens to a game, he does on TV. He does really good. Who's USC's coach?
B
Let's see, you had Kiffin.
A
Sark next. The next one.
B
Helton. Todd Helton, Yes.
A
Clay.
B
His brother Todd, too.
A
But yeah, what's amazing about this, they've only played four times since 2016. Your organs won the last three. 2019, 2020, and then 2023. All right, so this is one I'm really gonna need you to think about. So this pit at Georgia Tech. Georgia Tech wins. They're in the ACC championship game. I'm going to focus on Haynes King. 10 plus rushing attempts in eight of the nine games. Boston College was his first game without a rushing touchdown. He's at a rushing touchdown in every other game. He leads all of power. Four quarterbacks with 144 attempts and 14 rushing TDs. So I'm gonna go hypothetical here. They take care of business and they beat Pitt. How are you playing that Georgia game knowing that you're in the ACC championship game the next week and you're at your playoff ticket on the, on the line. Does he have a phantom hammy that he needs to rest?
B
If you know anything about Brent Key and his absolute, first of all, no nonsense personality, offensive lineman, his pure disdain for the University of Georgia. It is deep and it is awesome. And I say that because I love hatred, like I love hatred in the sport. Like I love when you hate your rivals. I love when it's important. I love when the trophy means something, when the in state rivalry means something. Brit Key's heart was ripped out of his chest a year ago. Like if he could rip Georgia's heart out of their chest while it's beating and eat it, he would like so 100% throttle down running Haynes King trying to beat Georgia.
A
Okay, I was, I just, it's such an interesting scenario for them knowing that I don't know that they do they beat, you know, say they win these two games. Are they in independent of the ACC champion? Who knows? But anyway, I just thought that was an interesting question. Looking at it, Missouri at Oklahoma. We didn't really get a chance to talk about this on Saturday night because, you know, we have so many other great games and things to look at.
B
Because Ahmad Hardy's still running 25 carries.
A
300 yards, 146 yards after contact, 810 plus yard runs, 515 plus yard runs, second most all time at Missouri. The other One happened in 1998 versus Kansas. 319 yards by.
B
It was a Missouri back you said.
A
Yeah, the other, the second most all time for Missouri.
B
Oh my God.
A
Devin West. I had, I had no memory of this Devin west in 1998. So my question though, do you think given the schedule and some of the wins they have, does Oklahoma have to win out to make the playoff?
B
Yes.
A
No trip up for them.
B
They got to be 10 and 2. They got to beat LSU and they've got to beat Missouri this week. Yeah, I don't think there's. Now I think that I would, I would have some credence for that thumb like I would personally.
A
That's really why I asked the question. Because if you're nine and three and one of your losses is to, you know, the rival with the cube, that's why I never thought he should have played in the game.
B
He shouldn't have played for that reason.
A
Because you could have just said, hey, look, we had our starting quarterback out in that game, but.
B
And the ball sailed so many times and it was just ugly. It wasn't pretty.
A
Yeah.
B
I think obviously to guarantee yourself a spot, you've got to do it. You've got to win. Like we're in big debate territory once you become that three loss team.
A
Yep. Louisville at smu, who still has a chance to make the ACC championship game. Louisville's lost two straight at home, so maybe it's better for them to go on the road. And we've talked a lot about Kevin Jennings in the preseason and in certain games this year, like the amount of running that he does anymore is just minuscule. He said less than 10 yards on scrambles in six straight games. And I think they're going to need his legs in a big way against Louisville because of their pass rush.
B
It's like, it's like Lamar Jackson, like Lamar Jackson. Watching him play this past week in the NFL and not scramble, like, not run.
A
Like who are you?
B
Well, I get it. Like you want to be a quarterback. I get it. But let me just tell you, the worst thing in the world is having to deal with your legs like and you buying time and scrambling and taking off. Like you just dictate so much coverage. You make me play differently and you make me rush differently when you run the football. So listen, like Rhett Lashley needs to do more of that. But I also get it because he's 165 pounds soaking wet. Like, same reason Marcel Reed doesn't carry that much. Like he's, he's 180 pounds soaking wet.
A
But my question with this one was, is Louisville the biggest what if team in college football this year? OT loss at Virginia, where Virginia had two non offensive touchdowns, three point loss, no T to Cal and then two missed field goals in the fourth quarter and lost to Clemson.
B
Yeah. And like personal fat, like just self inflicted wounds.
A
Yeah, it's just so they could be sitting there.
B
Cal beat them. How Beat him on their home turf. Like Cal tip the cap. They beat him. Like they didn't beat themselves as much with Cal, but the other two games, man, you, you, you pulled it. You did a Duke like you put, you blew off the whole foot. Like you, you just like Clemson said, here you go, game. You want it, you want it, take it, it's yours.
A
We want to get two teams in the playoff.
B
I mean, and then they, they're like, nah bro, I'm going to get a personal foul and shove somebody and move my kicker out of range and Miss a field goal. Good lord.
A
So we've talked a lot about. So last one, BYU at Cincinnati, big for the Big 12 and kind of cementing who's going to be in the Big 12 championship game. Bear Bachmeyer, Spirit Animal, number 47, highest overall and passing grade among true freshman quarterbacks. So that's better than J.K.S. underwood, Heinzhel, Malik Washington, all those guys that have played a lot. But he's actually coming off his best game. 91.4 passing grade, 86.2 adjusted completion percentage, which accounts for like drops and throwaways and at a 10 over 10 yard average depth target. So good time to be for him to be sort of hitting stride and playing well. So my question to you is this. We kind of touched on a little bit earlier. BYU goes in and beats Cincinnati and they're 111 in that Big 12 championship game. Are they in independent of the result?
B
No, no, they're not in independent of the result. But like I'm all for what if.
A
It'S the same result where it's a 34 to 16, whatever that was game. But they, but they. Texas Tech kind of controls the game.
B
It was like it was something to nine, right? Or something. Like it was 24 to nothing going into the fourth quarter in that game.
A
So 297 was the final.
B
So BYU slapped TCU. They got slapped by Texas Tech, they slapped Iowa State, they beat Utah by three. They survived Arizona, like just thinking about like, yes, there's not enough on the bone. There's not enough on the bone for them to go. Now listen, where are they at in the rankings? Like, and again, all you need is a little bit of help. Like you just need people to help you. But in that scenario, you're probably going to need a lot of help because, because of where you're ranked. But like byu, they've been a great story. Bears a stud and going to be a problem for years to come. You know what? That's who we need to have on the show. I'm going to text them tomorrow because he's a. I just love that dude. Like, I just. There's something about like his personality and just his calmness and he's got some.
A
Greatness in him unlike like any true freshman. I think there's no.
B
But BYU has to win. They have to win. If they want to take care of that, they've got to take care of business. They've got to win. They've had, they've had a good season though. And. But they, they've not done anything. I Don't think that that merits, like, yeah, I'm putting you in the playoffs because you, you, you had like, the Utah win. Utah ain't beat nobody either. Really. Like, I mean, yes, I agree. I think Utah is getting a whole lot of credit. And if you look at Utah, I like them, but they, they slapped Arizona State.
A
Which Cincinnati.
B
And they slapped Cincinnati. Like, and they slapped, they got slapped by Texas Tech. Like, they still, still waking up. They're unconscious. So. And then the loss to byu. Like, I, I, I don't know what, I don't know what that, I don't know what that does for, for you.
A
Like, they're going to be interesting because.
B
Arizona State's not ranked. Cincinnati is not ranked.
A
Like, well, you calls at 13 right now and you know, Texas ahead of them lost. Are they up at 12? Like, do they keep climbing if some of these teams losing and they're just going to sit there and I don't see how they're in. Like, that's what, and that's kind of the reason with the BYU thing is there. To me, they're always going to be ahead of Utah, even though Utah's right there on the fringe. Unless Utah's AD decides to, you know, make some agreements in the room, even though he's supposed to recruit himself.
B
All right, let's. Speaking of winners, let's land this plane. Victory formation. To me, this was very easy. Like, never a doubt. Boomer freaking Sooner. Like, backs to the wall, A lot of doubt, a lot of hatred. Old guard Alabama, the standard in the league for so many years. Them in Georgia playing Texas and now you playing. Oh, you playing Bama. Boomer Sooner takes care of business. They win the weekend, they're in the playoffs. If the season ended today, and they control their destiny the rest of the way. Two more wins away from, from going to the College Football Playoff, from being barely a bowl team a year ago to, but still beating Alabama and beating him again at Brian Denny Stadium. Who you got?
A
Brent and I'll say and hosting. And I'm, I'm partial to the Boomer Sooner Nation Coach Donnan, the Donnan family. I know they were loving that victory as much as anyone. To me, my. So Wes eliminated Duke. So my winner is the acc. Because if Duke wins that game against Virginia and has a chance to be in that championship game, that throws a monkey wrench into all of this. So now the ACC is like, okay, we, we're, we're going to get our one team. Maybe Miami somehow creeps up there and they, we Get a second, who knows? But we're at least getting our one. So to me, the ACC won the weekend outside of Oklahoma.
B
I'm super interested to see where. Where Miami went. All right, Wesley, who won the weekend for you?
C
Homie G. The North Texas Mean Green ranked for the first time in the top 25 since 1959. They weren't even called the Mean Green then. They didn't know what they were. The Eagles, they wouldn't have known about Mean Joe green yet. So 1959, the last time North Texas was ranked, you knocked him out of your top 12. But, you know, we just kind of rolled the dice on that, so we'll see what happens.
B
We're doing that. We're doing that every day. We're doing that every week from now on. We're going JMU, we're going North Texas, we're going UC. USF's gone. We'll go Navy next time. Like, we're just going to. We're going to keep pivoting. Wesley, when are we. When are we at? Are you ready for this today? Are you ready for. To tell the people I'm ready what they want? Like, where are we going to be at? How many times are we going to be on?
C
All right, we're going to be on tomorrow.
B
No.
C
Oh, you're out of town.
B
Bang, bang.
A
I'll put a but a doll dollar.
C
In the scheduled jar. All right, we'll be back Wednesday morning live and then Wednesday evening live. We're working on some guests. I. I don't know who that's gonna be yet. It's a surprise. But we'll be live Wednesday and then Saturday night. Y', all, this past Saturday night going into Sunday because of all those big SEC games. I mean, we cover all the leagues. You know, you get accused of SEC bias, but we live in Georgia. What are you gonna do? But we know our region, we know our audience, and it proved it over the weekend because it was, I think, our second best ever weekend for live streams, video reactions and everything. So we appreciate y' all so much. I mean, that was a great weekend, great engagement, great interaction. So that's our schedule, man. We're live every Monday. We're live sometimes on Tuesdays, but definitely Wednesday for picks looking ahead to the weekend, reacting to the CFP rankings, Wednesday show, usually with a guest. And then Saturday night, prime time after all those late games.
B
Boom. See y'. All. Appreciate y' all joining us.
