What up, dudes? Welcome on in a cball git ball. I'm your host, David Pollock. Here quite frequently, we're doing this a couple days a week, traveling a lot. We're going to get to that. Going to get to why? I think you'll be very interested to hear some of the conversations we've had, man. Some good stuff going on. But first, I think we're going to talk about the Dogs. Like, spring ball. The spring game is around the corner. And if you've been watching and you've been seeing all the different spring games, you know, I wonder. I wonder how much this matters anymore. Because there, man, it used to be. I remember recruiting used to be so big. Spring games used to be so big. And I. And I do think with some of the nil, you know, I do think with some of that, I think that it's lost some luster when it comes to spring games, and people don't go as much. Wes, I think your mic's still on, by the way. But. But I do think that it's lost a little bit of that. But. But the spring games are fun. We've talked about. We just talked about Florida, we talked about Alabama. And so I think when you're looking at Georgia, there's one thing I want you to realize if you are a Georgia fan. Last year you had Glover. Last year you had Juan. Two freshmen on the offensive line that were freak elites, that were game changers. You looked at them and you go, okay, these are guys that are going to be the best in the country, like at their position. They have that. They have that kind of ability to start day one. I got a new name for you. Zyki Helton. Remember that name if you are a Georgia fan. Remember that name if you're a college football fan. Zyke Helton. If it is first of all. What a great name, by the way. That is amazing name. If you are a Georgia fan and you want to win and you want to bludgeon people and be ground to pound, it sounds like this freshman, he's your dude because they say he's mauling people in practice. Everybody I talk to that, I'm like, give me a name, give me a name. Zacky held him, Zyche held him. Everybody across the board, like, he's that kind of good. And you think about Drew Bobo coming back at center. You. You think, you think about Juan, you think about Glover, like, that's a chance to be the best offensive line in all of college football. If Georgia has the best offensive line with their running backs, who are going to be two of the best one, two punches in college football. With a quarterback that can really run and do some damage, that makes life easy for Gunner. That's how you want to play. That's how Georgia played with Stetson Bennett. That's how Georgia played with, with all of their quarterbacks. They've always been able to. They were able to run the football, be physical. It starts there, man. So that, that's one thing to know. The offensive line could be one of the best in the country. It could be a freshman, another freshman that's in there. Charge number two, Isaiah Canyon. Guy was at Georgia Tech coming out of high school. Had offers from, I think Notre Dame. Um, I heard this story, by the way, from a pretty reliable source, actually, when he was getting recruited. You know what, what, what swayed him to stay closer to home was mama doesn't like getting on planes. And so now Georgia Tech, when he's in the transfer portal, 6 foot 4, 225 pounds, big, strong sucker like in the mold of Georgia wide receivers hurt. He's making all kinds of catches out there, you know, and he's physical and he's. And he's skilled and he's mature, he's. He's seasoned. I heard he's the number one guy. He. He's the guy to look out for. It's Canyon who was down the road at Georgia Tech. Great fit. Come on over. Come on in. And so, so Georgia spring ball. Kirby had some interesting comments about the SEC championship and how much it still continues to matter. I think that's something that is interesting for an old school guy like me, because when you used to build a roster, dude, you were like, gotta win my championship. You know why? Because you only had two spots to get in the national championship picture, right? The BCS days, well, then it went to four. Got to win my championship. Now it's at 12. I ain't got to win my championship anymore. So it's a little bit old school. That's why championship gains are going to go by the wayside. Like they're going to go away at some point in the very near future. But like he talked about the importance of it and I'm old school back to back SEC championships for Georgia, that should mean something. That's absolutely big time. Dominating the conference, dominating Alabama last year the way you did, dominating Texas the year before that. So you know, it is, it is great to do that. In a world of that though, how many of y' all were thinking about the playoffs and you were like, man, I don't want to add another game because guess what? Injury can happen and this game doesn't mean anything. And let's be honest, the team's off of a buy now after two seasons of 12 team playoffs. The team off of a buy are 1 and 7. One outlier Indiana, that was the only outlier. So you know, I do think the SEC championship game, I know it used to matter. I know old school guys like me when we did it at Georgia my sophomore year, first time in 30 years, dude, we were jacked up. We were excited, we were happy. I think that's more of an old school thing now and it's going to continue to dissipate and go away. So, you know, if you look at Gunner, we've talked about Gunner, we've discussed Gunner, his evolution, his improvement. If the offensive line is better, this team takes a step. But, but Brent, you can jump in here too. Now, to me, it's not about. This isn't about the receiving position for, for Georgia as much as it's about the tight ends. The tight end room for Georgia, like it's been, honestly, it's been when they had their championship run, it was about the tight end room. It was not about the receiving room. The receiving room was solid. It was good. By the way, that was great remarks by Kirby because Steve Smith, you know, popped off about Gunner Stockton in the offense. If you didn't see it, I think he said something like, that's dooo. This is a doo doo offense. And, and Kirby responded with like, who's put the most guys in the NFL ride receiver and tight end in the last several years? Good retort. Love the retort. But Elias Williams, like, that's a bad boy. He's going to be a bad boy for Georgia. You saw him a year ago. He'll be a matchup nightmare. A guy you can put out at wide receiver, a guy that can be a dude. Right. Like they can win but also dictate how you play defense. Darnell Washington, Brock Bowers, they did that the years before. But to me the tight end room, the offensive line, the chance to be just straight ballers and so good in run game. Now you bring in the tight ends and all the things they can do. To me it's more about that room than probably the wide receiver room.
Brent
Well, there's a couple of things there. One is when is their offense been at the. At their best over the past five years and sort of during the championship run. Obviously Bowers was just on another level. But it was when everybody, yeah everybody on the offense was a threat. And I don't know that that's been the case the last two years that everybody on the field is a threat. And with Williams and Barber specifically, Lucky I think is a good zone tight end. I don't. He just, he hasn't been a man beater type tight end.
David Pollock
But Williams, but he's tough, he's experienced,
Brent
he's gonna make catches.
David Pollock
He's a good player, he's been a good player, but you need that guy.
Brent
But in terms of being a threat, it's not someone that defenses account for. I think the off the receiving room combined with the tight ends with where everyone is a threat matters.
David Pollock
But.
Brent
All right, let me go back to the first point that you made about the spring game. And the only thing that matters is what we talked about with Alabama where the Rogers kid at receiver got hurt. And what if I told you it's potentially Georgia lost a transfer defensive end in practice today for the season. Yep. Because that happened. In terms of confirming it, I can't necessarily, it hasn't necessarily been confirmed to us at UGA Sports but Morris Williams that the edge from Auburn that transferred to Georgia got hurt in practice today.
David Pollock
They're planning on, you know, being their athletic guy that can pin their ears back and go get it like you saw enough to go get him even in a small sample size.
Brent
But that's what matters in the game. Stay healthy.
David Pollock
Well, and the part you liked about him, a little twitch, right. You need somebody that's got some twitch. Not just winning with power, not just winning with, you know, blitzes and scheme and twists and stunts like you. It's nice to have a guy that just I beat you. I don't need to out scheme you all the time. And he's one of those guys that they were counting on being that. So obviously, if that's a. If that's something that comes to fruition, that's.
Brent
Yeah, I've seen huge blow a report about, you know, the torn ACR for the year. Like, I know we had mentioned on ujsports.com just sort of injury and knee injury. So we knew that. But yeah, that's what matters in these games. Get out of the game healthy, see what you can see. And I think more so, like when I watch it, you want to see the young guys. Do they physically flash? Like, do they physically look the part? Height, weight, speed, quickness, you know, that sort of thing. And Zyche Helton, like, for people who are in Georgia, if you watch high school football in Georgia, he dominated the state championship game. Like, he was all over the place in the state.
David Pollock
Look like a deal. He looked like a D lineman, by the way.
Brent
Exactly. But he's like. But he plays O line. Everybody was like, hey, so maybe this guy played D line. But the other thing that you mentioned, the Steve Smith comments, I want to ask you about that sort of twofold. One, he's talked a lot. He talked a lot about Branch and then Dylan Bell and basically how the receiver part and like, if I'm a wide receiver, I don't want to go play in that offense. What say you? Because I actually, I mean, if. Depending on how you frame the question, I think there's ways to answer.
David Pollock
I mean, first of all, I. If you're looking at that from a standpoint of. I'm looking at the route trees and the routes they ran, I can understand there's some validity to his point. Like, I understand that. Like, but again, that's not the whole picture. And I don't know how much Steve Smith watches. I really don't. So I'm not going to say he doesn't watch that much. But if you watch those guys compete and be tough and play special teams and develop, like, here's another thing I'll say, yeah, you can talk about Branch. Where was Branch's most productive season of his career? At Georgia. He was awesome. He was freaking unbelievable in the punt return game. Freaking unbelievable receiver. He was a weapon of mass destruction on the field. Like, the offense was built around him. So I'm not gonna. I'm not gonna disparage Steve Smith because that's not what I do and not who I want to be. But I would disagree. I would say that they put him in a good position to succeed. They won a lot of football games and the dude was a playmaker that you talked about every single game.

And that's because I think. I don't know how he worded it. And it's independent of him and independent of him saying it just as a general which. Did Georgia do a disservice to Zachariah Branch? Absolutely not. Zero percent. Like, because now the NFL says, okay, look what that guy can do with the ball in his hands. We're gonna, you know, put him in our stuff, do our things and watch him be tough. All the things that we. You just talked about, no, they did not do a disservice to him. But yes, in terms of Saturday, you want to see the young guys. You want to see guys flash. Kaden Prothro, I think, is another name to that tight end room that you were talking about as a six six.
David Pollock
It's insane receiver. Like, the tight end room is insane. Like George Georgia's. Yeah, but, but, but to me, man, when you say you got a chance to have the best offensive line in college football, it's a great place to start. Great freaking place to start. So. All right, next. Wesley, you got to give me some context on this one, right? Because we're going to. I mean, it's weird. You've got fraud on the screen, Wes. Like, I know it's tax season two. Like, what. What are we discussing here, homie G.
Wesley
Yeah, it's all about me. This segment's all about me. We are talking about this story. I thought this could be the next great documentary. Next great sports movie potentially. Like, this is Italian job. Levels of great money here involving college football. At least one college football player. So Alabama D. Lyman, Luther Davis, he played for the tide on the 09 national championship team. This is all allegedly I'm going to protect legally here. Put on my local news hat again. Allegedly impersonated Xavier McKinney, a fellow Crimson Tide. What do you say, by the way? You can say like a fellow dog. If you talk about like a Georgia player. What do you say for Alabama players? A fellow fellow Bammer. Fellow fellow Bammer.
Brent
Bammer.
Wesley
So he reportedly impersonated Xavier McKinney, David and Joku and Michael Penix Jr. In 2024. This is according to the Guardian, to secure 13 fraudulent loans totaling almost $20 million from sports lending companies. Davis and his accomplice CJ Evans are reportedly expected to plead guilty and waive their constitutional right to indictment by a grand jury. I'm not a legal expert, but I do know that when you waive that, it pretty much means you, there's no way out. There's no way.
David Pollock
Is it like waving the white flag.
Wesley
They got you on something, okay? So they just want to speed it up and try to help their case. But this is, this is where this is crazy. Okay? I can absolutely see this. I can picture this as a scene, as like a reenactment and a 30 for 30 if they still make those or in a, in a film.
David Pollock
Okay.
Wesley
They registered companies with names or initials similar to all these pro athletes that they impersonated with the Georgia Secretary of State's office. It's actually really easy to do, to just start a new business with them. It's like 50 bucks. Not giving advice, not trying to help.
David Pollock
That's what I was about to say. Everybody out there is gonna be like, I got 50 bucks.
Wesley
In general, it's easy to set up a business. They open bank accounts for the companies, made fake email addresses, got fake IDs. Okay, this is in 2024. So this is recently. Guys been out of college for a while. They wore disguises, wigs, and on at least one occasion reportedly wore a durag to impersonate Michael Penix Jr because Michael Penix Jr wears them a lot. And they did all in these meetings.
David Pollock
Did they hand the ID left handed like Michael Penix?
Wesley
I don't know how committed to the bit they were.
David Pollock
I mean, you got to be committed. This, this, this makes me think, and this doesn't, this doesn't parallel exactly. It makes me think of Point Break when they got the president. Ma, they have all the president's masks on like Utah, give me, you're just walking in there like, hey, dude, this is, this is what, this is what we're doing now. Like we're just, yeah. So I, I, I hope they get prosecuted if this is allegedly what they, what they did. Good Lord.
Wesley
On behalf of these guys, somebody's Going to get fired.
David Pollock
I know that. For giving them money. Yeah.
Wesley
I mean, this is Nil gone horrifically wrong. Name, image and, and fake likenesses. But I don't know. I just wanted to share that I saw that story pop up today. And speaking of documentaries, I hear you got something cooking, man. What's going on?
David Pollock
Yeah, dude, we, we haven't talked about it yet here, but I do want to take you guys a little bit behind the curtain because you're our people, right? That's, that's why you're here. For C ball. Get ball, man. We've been working on it for over a year. It's probably going to come out this summer and we're doing a documentary on Nil. And let me tell you something. I started with something in mind, like who was the good part, who was the bad side? And what I can tell you is the good and the bad have blurred. Like it's, it's nuts to think. We've gone to Texas Tech. Softball, we've gone to, to Oklahoma State. Wrestling, we've gone power four. We've gone non power four. We've gone football, we've gone basketball, we've gone baseball, like you will, literally. We've got attorneys, we've got agents, We've got the first nil deal that was ever signed, by the way, at 12:01am like it was. They were ready to rock and roll. Like literally every single angle you could ever imagine. You'll know everything about it and then you can make a decision. Guess what? You're going to hear from Ted Cruz. Like you're going to. You're going to hear from Jordan. Like you're going to hear from so many. You're going to hear from politicians, from ads, from agents, from GMs that are going to give you the price tag of players. Like, you're going to hear from high school athletes who haven't played it down, that have million dollar contracts that are coming up. Like, it's going to be really cool. And again, not telling you what to believe and what you're supposed to believe, but you are going to leave with very strong opinions on Nil. You're going to hear from legends like Coach K and like Mack Brown like to, to think about hearing from Coach K. And me sitting with Coach K and him going, I'm like, what would Coach K have done in this era? He goes, wouldn't have existed now. What do you mean? He's like, I wouldn't have coached in this era. I'm like, really? The, the Best coach to ever do it in college basketball says, I wouldn't have done it. So, you know, if you are somebody who's very curious about Nil and, and where it's gone with the sport and where it's going, this is something that you're going to absolutely love. It's probably going to come out July, August. We're talking to all kinds of different folks. We're wrapping it up, but you're going to get everything, man. Attorneys, agents, players, you know, it's, it's the works, like the small, the big in between. So excited about sharing that with you guys. And you guys are the first ones to hear about it. Actually saw Josh Pate today. We talked about it today and we taped with him. It's going to be coming out and releasing soon. We, we broke down to into it and what was the most interesting part about it and just kind of gave you some, some context. But excited about that documentary. The name's still being talked about too.
Wesley
But this is kind of like a different, a little bit of a different lane for you, right? I mean, you haven't done a ton of the sit down stuff. What did you, what did you learn about that process of sitting down with coaches not on like a studio desk, but in that kind of documentary setting?
David Pollock
It was fun because you, you know, you're just, you're, they're the expert. So you're just, you're just picking their brain and just like wanting to know all of the details and listen. Some people in the different walks, right, they're in different specifications. Like Tony Vitello from, for baseball, the old Tennessee manager, Giants manager now. It was so awesome because I'm like, dude, tell me about how, how has this affected baseball? And baseball's down the list of money. Like money's not even close in baseball. And then you go to, you know, you go to Scott Drew at Baylor. Unbelievable. Like, remember all the stuff that went down with the guy coming that was pro and came down to college, like, coach, what went into that decision? How did you make that and what do you think about coaching? And so, you know, the coach is all trying to describe the world that they're coaching in and how it's changed and how it's morphed and getting very specific and roster management and stories of guys walking in their office. So just like, hey, give me all of it, right? Like, I want to know all of the details, all the things. And it was so interesting to hear old coaches be like, hey, we need Congress to get involved and Then Congressman, though, I sat down with like three of them in all different sides of the aisle. They're like, we don't want Congress involved. I'm like, and how many people said, hey, dude, we need to get people to sit down in a room? I'm like, when are we going to sit down in a room then? I'm tired of hearing you say we need to sit in a room. Let's go get in a room. Like, who's going to get in this room? Like, I saw. Stop saying like, by the way, if you're, if you're not new to see ball, get ball. Like is my crutch. Stop it. Slapped. But so it was just, man, it was so cool to learn all the Cody Campbell booster, Texas Tech, to hear his thoughts. I mean, just amazing. Crazy amazing. You will be blown away. I was blown away. And I know the stories. So knowing even more of the stories and the contracts and the details, it's so cool, man.
Wesley
Can't wait to see it, man. And it's all changing so fast. So that yes, the turnaround had to be lightning quick. All right, let's hop down to Austin, Texas. Cam Coleman told local media quote it wasn't really that hard to leave Auburn for Texas. Now I think speaking of nil, you know the neighborhood of some of the deals he turned down to take the deal at Texas. Obviously, it's not hard to leave Auburn for Texas, but that quote kind of struck me a couple different ways. How should Auburn fans take that comment?
David Pollock
DP I get it. I understand Auburn fans. How, how you could get upset, but it's, it's kind of like, it's kind of taking things out of context with the Scheffler quote that happened the other day. Right? Like you didn't hear all of it, but it's just a terrible question. I, I'll ask you this question, Auburn fans. You're in your line of work and you're getting paid $2 million a year, which would be awesome for all of us. Like, that would be fantastic. Yes, you can.

If you know, give herbo and someone comes and says, hey, I want to offer you five. What are you going to do? I know what you're going to do. Like, hook them. Matthew McConaughey, you're going to stop using deodorant. Like, 100% what you're going to do. Like, I'll never forget interviewing people for the documentary out in front of the Oregon. This was my. One of my favorite parts in front of the Oregon Indiana game. Like, it was so awesome because these fans are die hard, and they're like, I would never cheer for another school. I was like, okay. I said, I got 500 cash in my pocket right now. Will you wear that jersey for the game? Will you wear the Oregon jersey? You're an Indiana guy. Will you wear the Oregon jersey? He was like, show me the money, right? Like, and that's what it's about. It's Jerry Maguire, baby. Like, show me the money. And I think if you're in those shoes, you do the same thing. Let's be honest, the quarterback play that, that my guy's gotten, I mean, he's. He's got Manning now. We couldn't even put together a list of guys that were remotely close to that or even remotely close to that. So, you know, this is going to be a duo that's going to be pretty dang solid across college football. So I. I understand it. And I think if we're being honest, if we're being honest, War Eagle fans, Auburn fans, you're going to be. You're going to be doing the same thing.
Wesley
Who's Auburn got coming up to replace him? Can they replace him?
David Pollock
No, they can't replace him.
Wesley
Next question. Okay, on Cam, Arch is getting all the attention again. I mean, it feels like deja vu. Feels like last summer all over again. He's kind of limited in practice, coming off the foot surgery. Is there any duo besides maybe saying to Smith that comes to mind that you think can have a higher ceiling or will perform better than Arch to Cam in 2026?
David Pollock
Oh, I love that question. I love that question. Okay, so saying and Smith are obviously like, that's. That's. That's otherworldly, right? Like, that's. That's different saying now, a year under his belt. That makes it unbelievable. Smith obviously is. Is not human. So different category immediately coming to mind. Hoover and Marsh, Indiana. Like, that has to come to mind. That. That's definitely one of those that immediately go to the top of the list. Dante Moore. You know, it's interesting. Interesting about that is who is it with, right? Because Stewart's back. So is it. Is it more and Stewart, is that the guy that he goes to? I. I don't think so. You know, Gunner and canyon. Sounds like that's going to be pretty dang good. I mean, that's a really, really good one. Two punch gun breaking.
Wesley
Sounds like a place that Gunner would go to, like shoot quail or something.
David Pollock
It does sound that he breaks out the canyon. Yeah, I like. I like it. Pastor Dave in there. I know. I know who you cheer for. Russell to. To Williams. Now we're assuming Keelan Russell is going to win and then it should be Williams. Coleman. Williams. Right. It should. We should be getting that correctly. So Pastor Dave knows a little more about us than who's going to be winning the job at Alabama, apparently. But, man, you think about. I think about those combinations that. That come to mind immediately. Brent, who are we missing? Rollins, who. Who are those ones across the board?
Brent
The interesting thing here is I think you just mentioned two combinations that might have. Might not. Three. Really. Actually, that might not even be the best combination on their own team. Like, Cam Coleman is coming into a situation where Ryan Wingo, he's still there. And who had 94 targets and like 40 to 50 more targets than Coleman a year ago.
David Pollock
Now I wonder, I wonder. I wonder who's getting paid more in that situation.
Brent
Oh, paid, yes. But in terms of how it actually happens and whatnot, I think that's one.
David Pollock
So could I. I did. There's a lot of completely disagree with that. Like, if you're asking me to bet and I'm a betting man, I'm absolutely laying it on the other side. Like, I think. I think Coleman and Coleman and Manning are that. That they brought him in to be the one.
Wesley
Money's going, right?
David Pollock
Yeah. They didn't bring him in to be the two.
Brent
I get.
David Pollock
I understand what you're saying. He's good.
Brent
But Sark's gonna. In the ways. I think the way Sark looks at this is he wants to have a lot of guy, every guy, everybody be a weapon. Kind of like he had in 2024.
David Pollock
I mean, it's a good idea. Right?
Brent
Different guys.
David Pollock
Before you do that. Right.
Brent
Targets. You mentioned Indiana. Like Charlie Becker.
David Pollock
No.
Brent
Okay. And then, I mean, listen,
David Pollock
what did Charlie Becker. What did Charlie Becker do? Great. He's going to make those deep ball plays. He's going to make the splash plays. He'll make some contested catches. I don't think Becker's the guy that's winning on these routes consistently that we're throwing the football to. No, Mendoza, you take a step backwards Love Charlie Becker. Like, love him. He's a ball.
Brent
You mentioned Hoover Marsh. So I think. And I think there's a world where Becker might be the best guy on that team. So.
David Pollock
No, I. And again, are you. Are you. Are you. Are you saying that? Or are you. Are you saying that you. Yes. Like you're going to say that Becker's going to have more than Marsh? Because that's like Coleman to me and Wingo. Like. Yeah, you can say it because they're both talented. Where are you putting the chips?
Brent
I. I'm a big Charlie Becker fan. Okay. I think I might put chips. Chips on that. We might. That'd be a fun discussion in terms of who leads teams in receiving. Because even that Oregon you mentioned, like, you got decor and more. And then Evan Stewart. So.
David Pollock
Yes, that's what I'm saying. That's. That's why I couldn't go with that combination.
Brent
A couple of different things with Cam Coleman coming to Texas. First, you mentioned. You talked about your nil documentary. The most interesting thing I think people want to know is legitimate real numbers versus what gets sort of reported or talks or whatnot. Like, if you're going to lay out real numbers, I think that's. That's legit.
David Pollock
How about I sat down with the GM and I said, what's the price of your quarterback room? Starter, backup? What are you paying for a wide receiver? What are you paying for a running back? What are you paying for a tight end? What are you paying for a pass rusher? Which broke my heart, by the way. Like, absolutely shattered my heart in half. Like. Yeah, I was. Like, I was. Stop saying, like, I was born a little too late with that one. Goodness gracious. Because there is some. Some absolute cheddar. Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh. Huge miss. Huge miss. Minsa to Tony. Oh, yeah, Minsa to Tony. That. Ah. That just popped in the small, small noggin. That's. That's. That might be. That might. That's going to be a lot higher on the list. That. That is. That's a.
Brent
That's a 1A. Whoever. 1A, 1B. That's. They're. They're one of those two. That's for sure.
David Pollock
That. That's a huge miss Miami fans, I apologize. I am sorry. You. Please forgive me.
Brent
Also, we're thinking on the fly here
David Pollock
of yes, which is fun, which is awesome.
Brent
But Cam Coleman actually made some interest. The other interesting comments, even I think Auburn fans actually would be like, sure, dude, we get it. Because you just ran goes and hitches like he was like, I looked almost 60 of his routes at Auburn go hitch. So he was a la George Pickens at uga. Deep or come short but.
David Pollock
And that was everybody at Auburn. Yeah, that was, that was the offense
Brent
getting away from the offense like that. Auburn fans understand that, I think. But he talked about running more routes in that same conversation that he mentioned leaving Auburn. Wasn't that necessarily hard? And that's when you like I, I started looking routes and then also alignment. He's going to be in a whole different world in Texas. Oh yeah. Because he was in the slot in the two years at Auburn. Six percent of the time I'm about
David Pollock
to say, I would have said like 25 times.
Brent
Minimal, right? Very minimal. So I went back and looked all the different receivers like primary outside receiver guys that Sark has had the lowest slot percentage was 80. Mitchell in 2023 at 18. So Coleman is going to get moved around and gonna run a whole different tree, do a lot of different things. And in that regard I think he does end up sort of being statistically the more targeted and yards guy. So I'm going to put some numbers on that. 50 catches, 800 yards, seven touchdowns. Are you taking the over for those three things?
David Pollock
Yep.
Brent
You think he gets the a thousand? Yep, I do think he gets double digit touchdowns.
David Pollock
I do. I think, I think, I think, I, I think Sark. I think the best thing that Cam Coleman does is probably contested catches. And I think Sark is going to be smart enough to realize because, because they don't run the football at an elite level and I don't expect them to next year with all the offensive line turnover. Like I just, I think the offensive line will be better. But I don't think you change your stripes overnight. That dude is a, that dude's a problem out wide like he's a problem. You, you could see it at Auburn. Even the ball wasn't thrown near, near him enough. But when it was and then when they gave him those opportunities, those 50, 50 balls. They ain't 50, 50, they're 70, 30.
Brent
I went back and looked even like think about guys that Sark has had over these past years and like when he's had dominant receivers. Think back to Devonte Smith at Bama in 2020. He had 145 targets that year.
David Pollock
Yeah.
Brent
Twice as many as everybody else but devonte.
David Pollock
But Devonte's. Devonte's better than Coleman. And here, here's another thing too. I don't think people understand. It's so easy to say like hey, move him around. You do understand you have to learn that position. It's not as simple as, like, hey, let's just move you around. I move you around and I put you in the slot. Someone else has to go out wide. They have to know what they're doing. You have to know what you're doing. So it's not as simple. I always get a kick out of that. It's just like corners, like, hey, can you just go trail the best guy? Yeah, sure. When they put him in the slot, I'm going to go in the slot. Who's going to go out? Why? Like, this has to be communicated. So that's why. It can be very difficult and. But it can be good if you can keep things simplistic and you can, you can learn that, but you've got to have a big brain that you can learn on the fly. And everybody has to be versatile enough to continue to play the other spot as well. So it's not as easy as just going, hey, dude, you just plug them in there. Yep.
Brent
I do think this is the best trio of receivers that Sark has had at Texas with him, Wingo, and then Emmett Mosley there as well. And like, think back to Bama in 2020. They had Devonte, they had Waddle for a while until he got hurt, and then they had Mechi too. So a lot of unique things that I think if you want to see. Okay, what's Texas offense going to look like with the added element of Arch's legs? You go back to Bama in 2020 and watch a lot of that.
David Pollock
Yeah, and that was, that was a. That was a scary group. That was an absolute scary, scary, scary group. That receiving core was. Was insane, insane to the membrane. When you look at Texas, by the way, there's another guy. We haven't been able to talk about it, but Bishop Jr. Is, is this freshman kid that's turning, turning heads like he's supposed to be me. Supposed to be ridiculous. I mean, talk about just like being able to run and go get it speed. Like, this is a guy that. I've seen the Malachi Tony comparisons. Not real big, but understands how to track the football, run routes, et cetera, et cetera. So that's another guy to look out for. That will be absolutely silly coming out of nowhere. Like, where did that guy come from in the recruiting ranks? Go ahead, Wesley.
Wesley
Arch has got to get him the ball. Gotta have a. Gotta have a strong start to the season, folks. Another well compensated Texas Longhorn, Scotty Scheffler on the podium. Kings, you posted about this and you didn't really share your take on it. So here's Scotty, and I want to, I want to hear what you think about it.
David Pollock
That's just a terrible question. Next. Next question. Awful.
Wesley
What enabled you to. He was asked about what his round of 65 would have or could have or should have been. He didn't have a single bogey over the weekend. Oh, yeah, that's an eight. It was a year record broken.
David Pollock
And it was not, it was not asking a tone of, like, you know, hey, Scotty, like, you did great. It was asking a tone of negativity. Why, why did this happen, man? Why couldn't you get it done? Why? What could have been better? How could you have done a better job of capitalizing? And
Wesley
it's got a bad question for Scotty to react that way.
David Pollock
It's a stupid question.
Wesley
We don't.
David Pollock
It's a stupid question. It's a horrible question.
Wesley
Absolutely horrible question. A little sleep deprived with the newborn at home.
David Pollock
Okay, I, I get it. But here's the thing. I, I, I, I don't like the last part. I don't like the last part when he kind of piled on. But you, sometimes you need to let people know it's a bad question, because here's another thing, too. As an athlete, I don't need, I don't want negativity creeping in here and here. I don't need that crap, man. I got to reject it right away. Like, get, get out of here with that. Like, dude, I shot 65 on Augusta. I'm not looking at negativity. Oh, I could have done this. I could have done. There's always I could have done. And as an athlete, man, you try to stiff arm that as much as possible. You. So when he brings that up, you're like, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. You ain't getting rent in my head. Like, you ain't, you ain't swinging around in my hammock. Get out on, get on out of here.
Wesley
No swinging in the hammock. All right, Hines Ward, Arizona State, talking about Jordan Tyson and some advice he gave him about the NFL draft process and how guys will get knocked down so they can get them at a better price. And this story about Tyson, I don't know how many people knew about until Hines Ward shared it here.
Hines Ward
I tried to pull him out, and a lot of scouts didn't know. The story was like, no, man, it ain't worth it. He's like, coach, man, I love my brothers. I don't know what's going to happen. If this is going to be my last game, I want to do all I can, even if I can't run the route. And he single handedly on that last drive took, led us down all the way and helped us win that game.
Wesley
I didn't set that up very well. Tyson came out of the game after saying he popped his hamstring and he went down the field and helped Arizona State be Texas Tech.
David Pollock
And, and I wish I could say like, hey man, that, that, oh my gosh, like GMs are so happy. I'm so excited. Yes, you get a, you get a check in the, in the box. But what's Jordan Tyson's rap, Wes? It's injuries. What's his rap? His rap is injuries.
Wesley
The whole thing was about correct.
David Pollock
And he's been hurt and he's been hurt and he's been hurt. So like it's, it's hard to, it's hard to, to get away from that. And when you get that label, you know, can I. Because I don't want to spend money. And it's on the sidelines. Right. He, we know he can play, we know he's good. And speaking of like Brent was talking about, you can move him around and put him on the chessboard a lot of different places and he's been really good at it. But when you get that label, man, it's hard to kind of shake it off. And I love the toughness, sure. Like, I love the toughness, but at the same time, if I'm going to spend money, I need to see it on the field. And that's where It's a catch 22.
Wesley
Well, if he's been injured a lot, I'm sure the Falcons will draft him. Last one here going to Major League Baseball. Orioles manager Craig Albernaz gets hit in the face with the foul ball and comes back in the game. I think you'd appreciate this grit.
Craig Albernaz
It's at least seven fractures in my cheek area, orbital and then a broken jaw. And got the bases loaded and Bassett came in saying something about a home run and it's on a tape delay and I heard the crowd and I was like, you know what? This, I'm going out in the dugout. Sorry for my language, but yeah, going out to the dugout. And that's when I went out to the dugout and wanted to be a part of it.
Wesley
That's a baseball guy. They had a grand slam and he skipped out on his CT scan. He ran out of that with the fractured face. I mean, have you, have you ever seen someone get hit with the. I know Brent has probably seen someone get hit in the face with the ball as painful.
Brent
My own son, Carson, we have pictures when he was 9 or 10 twice.
David Pollock
It's not the time. It's not the time that Cameron hit him with a bat because I remember that he was four.
Brent
That. That's the greatest video in history. But Carson had the laces like right below his eyelid for, I don't know, a week, three or four days at least.
David Pollock
How about that dude, Gary West? You can look it up because I can guarantee you this. I'll be right. That dude's from Boston or somewhere up north because I had to be a part of it. I mean, that dude, I don't know where he's from, but obviously it should be Boston because he's tough, right? Like you.
Brent
I've been in a few fights.
David Pollock
Been in a few fights, a few brawls, like Bar Massachusetts, by the way, Goodwill hunting. If you don't like that movie, like, you are dead to me.
Brent
I like them absolutely dead to me.
David Pollock
I got a number. How do you like them apples?
Wesley
Dp, you got something going on G Day. What's happening? Every Day Counts. Watch how many book signings we up to now.
David Pollock
Ah, yeah. How about it, man? I don't have a copy. I guess if I'd have known Wes was going to say that, I would have brought a copy of my book. But like, if I can write a book, it's proof. Anyone can write a book. If a defensive lineman, if a co host of C Ball get ball can write a book. It's called Every Day Counts. We're doing a signing, two signings on Saturday, actually. One at the, at the bookstore right there on campus across the street for, for uga and then another one in Monroe. So yeah, there it, there it is. Wes, appreciate that Every Day Counts as the book. It's. It's not a book about like all the great things in my life. It's definitely a book about all the struggles and how we faced adversity and how it's been hard and developing some systems. And I think every, every man needs a scorecard like every, everybody needs a scoreboard like to compete in. And every day counts if you, if you like to be challenged and you know, you like to think about things that will help you, like develop systems in your life that can help you become better and grow. Like, that's, that's 100%. What every day counts is, I promise, like, Brent. Brent's in academia, by the way, and really, really smart. He's a doctor. He didn't. Not a real doctor, but a doctor. And promise he'll be done with it in, like, a day.
Brent
I was going to ask you, like, do Wes and I get one of these autograph copies?
David Pollock
I mean, what the heck would you do with an. Would you want an autograph copy? I'm going to give you. I'll give you a copy.
Brent
At least a copy.
David Pollock
You like a copy.
Brent
I got to read this thing here.
David Pollock
Brent, I swear to goodness, I am not lying. I will give it to you, and you'll be done in a day and a half. Like, this is a book that flies. It's very easy to read. Like, you'll. And you'll love it because you'll have some good takeaways. But did you do an audiobook version? I didn't do it. I did not do it. I, I, they, they had somebody do it because my schedule was just crazy. I wanted to do it, but. But my schedule was a little bit nuts. You know the most nauseating thing about writing a book, Especially the first one and last 100. The last.
Brent
No, two. You've written two.
David Pollock
Don't.
Brent
The children's book.
David Pollock
The children's book with a lot of pictures. Yes. The most.
Wesley
Dr. Seuss.
David Pollock
Yes. The hardest part is you have to read it so many times, and it's about you. And I don't like me anymore. Not that I ever liked me that much. But to read your story over and over again. I finally told baby doll, I'm like, babe, will you please read this and tell me where I went wrong? Like, because I don't under. I can't read this anymore. And she didn't. You know why? I know. Because, dadgum it, the copies of the books got delivered, Brent. They're on the table with the COVID She opens it up and she starts crying because it says, for Lindsay. And I was like, it's proof you never read the book, love. It was in there the whole time. Proof you never read the book. Like, but she did say it was
Wesley
good, so that was good, maybe.
Brent
And you also like when you read it a bunch. And I've written two textbooks, so that. That's a little different world. You just your. Everything you see, you want to edit something you want to fix. Every time you look at it, it's like, oh, let me fix this. Let me reword that. Let me re. At a certain point, you just got to be like, here you go. Yeah, have at it.
David Pollock
That's why I tried to get my wife, to get her to help me, but she was not feeling it.
Wesley
But you know what?
Brent
Just drop the copy in the mailbox and I'll get to it.
David Pollock
Gotcha.
Wesley
Are we allowed to just slingshot it over to Brent's house, Just catapult it? Are we allowed to do a. Like a giveaway on the show?
David Pollock
Of course. 100.
Wesley
Let's think about how to do that.
Brent
Okay, Pastor. Pastor Dave just said he's going to buy his, so maybe. Maybe we can hook him up.
David Pollock
Appreciate that, Pastor Dave. Appreciate all you dudes. We will be back next week like always to kick off more stuff, talk more college football. We got more guests coming your way. But do the thing. The. The rate the, like, subscribe. Please do that. I'm supposed to say that a lot. I'm freaking horrible at it. I'm terrible at it. I don't do a good job with it. But we appreciate you guys continuing to listen and we'll keep giving you some good stuff, man, and at least doing our best to do it. Peace.
