And how about that Pollock interception in the end zone.
David Hollis
Well, it's David Pollock and I think people going to learn what kind of ball player is. He's got a heart of a line. I'm real proud of that kid.
Brent (PFF Analyst)
This is SE Ball Get Ball, college football's top show for football analysis, predictions and coach interviews. Now here's your host, three time all American, seven time Emmy award winner David Hollis.
David Hollis
Week 11 let's get at it boys. College Football Playoff rankings come out manana. Which is, which is cool because the committee, you saw them, they're actually getting together now. Now we get to see how much, how much ball they watch watched. And I love the lot of experience in the room. A lot of guys that have been around a lot of football. So we'll get those tomorrow. We'll get ours tonight. More importantly because see ball get ball obviously is way, way ahead of the committee and what they're bringing. But they'll use the same criteria that we'll try to think about and we'll try to use with, with ours who won the weekend, who got eliminated from the College Football Playoff. And Brent will have some numbers from pff like we always do it. But first we got to start on the planes with Auburn because I think there's some interesting things about Auburn. If we want to look at Auburn and what they've been the last several years, the last five years, Auburn's not been a good program. Like, they actually have a worst winning percentage than Kentucky in football. So since 2015, so if you include Texas and Oklahoma, 12th worst winning percentage in the SEC, they've had five coaches now since 2020, since the end of COVID like, that's a lot of coaches. Okay. Been a lot of a turnstile. Hugh Freeze is the latest. And I think the optimism with Freeze was getting the offense turned around, which has been a little bit of a struggle. 15 and 19 with freeze, 6 and 15 in SEC play. And I think. I think here's the thing. When you look at Auburn, they're 1 in 5 in the SEC this year for those losses by one score. But I think the reason why Auburn fans were upset was, you know, listen, there was six touchdowns in five years. Like six touchdowns or five losses in the five losses. Excuse me. Wow. Five years. That'd be a lot. That'd be a really bad offense. Six TDs in those five losses. So a lot of close games, but a lot of frustration with getting the offense turned around. And you see a lot of talent on that offense, but finding the trigger guy has been tough. Now, this has led to some conversation, and I think this is very interesting. How good of a job is Auburn? Is Auburn a good job? Joe Klott had some really serious quotes about it, and I love Joe Clyde. Joe Clatt watches football. He has strong opinions. I love that about him. Klotz comments on Auburn. Their expectations are over their skis.
Brent (PFF Analyst)
For.
David Hollis
They aren't even the best job in their own state. It's like the sister of the beauty queen. You ain't your sister. Golly, that. That's. That's unfortunate. That's, you know, that's tough to be the sister. He's not lying. Um, and I want to talk about this too, and talk about, like, if it's. If this is real, if it's fair, whatever. Some of it I think is going to be real and fair. Some of it's not. They bring in all these guys, they don't give them enough time to build, and then they fire them as if they're supposed to be Bama or supposed to. To be Bama next year. I'm not saying that you can't have success at Auburn. I'm saying that they operate. Is not in line with the program that they are. Okay, so let's address this a little bit by little. Klatt said it on the next round show, by the way, that was, that was Klatt's comment. Agreed. Auburn is not Alabama. They are in the state. Their second Phil, their little brother, like, whatever you want to say that that's factual. Like they are. And, but, but there's a couple things that I think to, to say about Auburn that's, that is on the other side. They haven't been great. They haven't a lot. They've hired a lot of coaches lately. But. But there's a couple of things that I think too, that, that you look at Auburn and you think are in their favor. They won a natty in 2010. They played for one in 2013. Like, those count like that. When you talk about programs that have, have played for two national titles in the last 15 seasons, just, let's just go there. The list of teams that have played for two natties in the last 15 years, that list consists of Bama, Clemson, Georgia, Ohio State, lsu, Notre Dame and Oregon. And Auburn. Like Auburn's on that list. Like Auburn's fans show up for every single game. Go watch the. Any given Saturday piece on Auburn last year with A and M and the stadium late in the season, 100,000 showing up, making an unbelievable atmosphere. The crowd is unbelievable. The fans are crazy, insane. They have a ton of talent there like Coleman, Singleton, Cobb can all come back. Jackson, Arnold can come back. Now we can debate whether y' all want him back. Like, that's probably going to be a, a different conversation, you know, on the planes. But I just think it's, yes, the short term, the last five seasons, Auburn's been bad. They've been really bad. They've been worse than Kentucky. So we can put that out there. But to act like Auburn's not a program that has history, that, that is a proud program, that's a proud fan base that has, you know, elite players. They have elite resources, elite facilities. Like everything about them has a chance to be elite. So I think, I just don't think Auburn is a team that you just say, hey, yes, they're second fiddle to Alabama. Everybody's second fiddle to Alabama. There's not a fan base, there's not a team in the country that hasn't been second fiddle to Alabama. So that's not a slight. I think it's a slight when you just say this job's not very. And I think you spend it to, who is the coaches? Who are the next guys? You know, I think if you look at the experience, guys like James Franklin, you know, six, 10 win seasons, five top 10 seasons, won 18 games and back to back seasons at Vandy. So that's two nine win seasons if you average them together. I'm really good at math, it's one of my strengths. But that's really good. That got you fired at Penn State. Auburn would be happy for that. Now Jimbo Fisher, Jimbo Fisher went 83 and 23 at FSU. Different time. Has Jimbo Fisher changed and changed the way he can build culture. Who is he bringing with him? But that's an experienced guy drinking, which I think makes more sense if you're going to go 27 and six in three seasons in the SEC, like that's really, really good. But if you're going to get outside of that, like here's where I think some names that are interesting. Summerall you keep hearing about him at Tulane, he's from Huntsville, Alabama. He played, he played in the sec, played at Kentucky, coached at Troy, coached at Tulane. Obviously had a lot of success. A guy that's got some fire. He backed out of the UNC job a year ago. He's like, yeah, not my thing. Going to Auburn might be his thing. Like that would be an interesting name to me. And then does anybody like just think Kenny Dillingham could be great? And I know Kenny Dillingham, like Jeff Braum that we mentioned for Florida, he's at his alma mater. Would he leave? I don't know. Probably not if you're going to ask. But if you're going to go to Auburn and have consistent resources like that is, that is a good, that is a good job to consistently have resources. But here's the thing, and Brent, jump in here on this because I think, I don't think you can look at college football the way you used to look at college football. And here's what I say when I say that the program used to, used to build itself like lsu. When I look at LSU in state recruiting elite level, right? Like top notch, nothing else going on in the state. The thing with Auburn, Georgia, Florida, it's always like oh, so close, you know, like Alabama, like so much proximity. High school football in the state of Florida, high school football in the state of Georgia. Here's the thing, man, this isn't like that anymore. Like money talks. Like recruiting is a direct reflection of do you have a gm? Are you running this like a business? Because if you're not, you're not in this game anymore. So I think when I start to go look and hire a guy like who's evolved with the times who is used to big boy football because that's what you got to play. And if I'm Auburn and the backdrop, like, first of all, what do you think about that, Brett? Like, I don't think. I just don't think football is the same as it used to be. And I think it's who's adjusted to it the best.
Brent (PFF Analyst)
So you're saying it's all about the Benjamin's go old school reference there.
David Hollis
It's, it's. I mean, hey, because, because a lot of these players are like, how much do you have? Oh, you know what? I'm not going to be able to make the recruiting trip. That's a part of it, man. So you better have that part checked, circled, starred and taken care of.
Brent (PFF Analyst)
Very much so. But the other part that's hard at Auburn is the fact that not only do you have to play Alabama every year moving forward, at least for a little while, you gotta play Georgia too, who are two perennial powers. But in terms of is this a good job or is it not a good job? That what you said earlier about who's played for a national championship in the last 15 years and them being one of the teams that's played for two. That's the end. That's the into the story.
David Hollis
I like that.
Brent (PFF Analyst)
To me, you appreciate like you can, you can win at that level at that program. And if, like, if you can win at that level with that program, like right here behind me, West Virginia, there's limitations. There are always going to be limitations. There was a time, those very small window of time where they could compete at that level, but it's going to be insanely difficult. Like getting into the playoff is probably a victory for these type of. For all these schools, getting in the playoff is not necessarily a victory. They can win the whole thing if they have the right coach and the right combination of which not all jobs.
David Hollis
Not all jobs can say that. But another thing, too, Auburn fans, I think you've heard this for a while. This is why you don't have Kirby Smart, by the way, because they had a chance to get Kirby smart. Auburn fans know this. There's a tendency in that building for certain people to have a lot of say. And those certain people aren't necessarily the people that you want to listen to, okay? And the people with the money that you have to now glad hand and you have to get used to. If I'm going to a place where those people are making football decisions, which I'm telling you is the history at Auburn, if you talk to people that have been there. It's been the history. That's not a good recipe for success. Like Auburn has to make sure that they give coaches the opportunity to hire their own coaches to make their own decisions, to not let the boosters who give all of the money and there's several big time boosters that give the money. But just because you're a big time booster doesn't mean that I need your input on football. Like I need you to stay in your lane. I, I need you to do you and let hire a coach that's got the, the, the, the, the, the balls to do his job, to make the shots, to call the calls and do that stuff. That's just, that's what all I'll say like let them do them.

And now we'll get to our College Football Playoff. Like, I think this is amazing because we've been doing this exercise, and as we go along, it's going to. It's going to change. And Wes can tell you, because Wes was putting together the graphic. I'm not even sure how the graphic goes, because I have the. The original one up here right now. Like, trying to make this work and starting the different areas like Ohio State and Indiana. Like, I literally went back and forth between Ohio State and Indiana. I say that because I saw Ohio State. I saw something new from Ohio State. I saw their offense play under pressure. I saw Julian saying, have to move. I was very, very impressed. I wanted to pull the trigger. I wanted to put them at one. First of all, it means nothing to be at one. It means absolutely nothing. Like, you're going to play each other in the Big Ten championship game. One and two doesn't matter. Both of y' all could still have the opportunity to be in the top four, which is what you want, because remember now, the seatings after the. After the championship games are for buys. It's not like last year where, you know, where some of the lesser teams that are ranked in the playoff can get a higher seed. I went with Indiana at 1. Indiana still has the best win. Indiana still has the common opponent with Illinois and the dominance versus not as dominant. If you want to give me Ohio State with at a conference, I think there's a legitimate beef, and I'm very interested to hear that. Does that come out of the words of the committee out of conference? Because at a conference, Indiana played Little Sisters of the Poor, School of the Blind, School of the Mute. Like, literally, it was. It was as. It was as bad as it gets. Like, it was terrible. It was an awful slate. Ohio State played Texas, who now keeps winning, which is a very good thing for Ohio State. So Ohio State, you cheered against Texas. You love watching the demise. Now your resume kind of hinges on Texas a little bit for the top spot. So why not absolutely embrace that? So I went Ohio State one I went Indiana two. I think when you start to get to the next level, it looks pretty good. You know, I think you GO A&M. 3. The Notre Dame win is good and getting more impression, more impressive. The LSU dribbling, drubbing, there's a lot of that now that I get to write on this and who's beaten lsu. I just not. I'm interested to see how that goes. If you look at the two lane game or excuse me, if you look at the way that they played against lsu, I'm impressed. If you look at pass rush, impressed. If you look at speed, impressed. You know, there's a lot to like about A and M. They're going to control themselves. Missouri obviously this week. Texas at the end of the season, which will be obviously a huge one. And then obviously for seating purposes, Bama right behind them. And in the four hole, no one has a better resume in the country than Bama except for one thing. They lost to fsu. Like aside from that, which, which keeps becoming an issue because FSU loses every single week it seems like. But the Bama resume and who they've beaten is good. They've got OU as the last top 25 team. So I got 1 through 5 is pretty solid if you start getting in the next row. So I categorized it 1 through 5. I felt pretty solid. About 6 through 9 is the next little tab I have. So I got ole miss at 6 and huge win at OU. The two lane drubbing LSU win, which again we say that like it matters. I'm not sure that matters anymore. Only loss is in Athens. That's a pretty good loss, bro. Like you got to be pretty impressed with that loss. Obviously led the whole game or most of the game and then in the fourth quarter kind of gave out a gas. But also at a tough atmosphere. They got Florida and they got at Mississippi State. Good chance if they beat when they beat Florida or if they beat Florida, they got a good chance to kind of write that in pen and finish that off. Number seven, baby. The Texas Tech Raiders. Big big game in Lubbock this weekend which will decide this because. Because eight right behind them is the team that they're going to play. Spoiler alert. Utah win looks a lot better. They drubbed Utah Broski. They took them behind the woodshed and absolutely wore that Heiney out 34 to 10 at Utah at a conference played absolutely no one, but haven't played actually didn't play anybody without a winning record. But they also, you know, went face open slap but BYU this week and then could play. If they beat BYU, they could play him again. BYU right behind him at 8. Utah win is a big win. Iowa State back to back weeks, most impressive things on their schedule. Texas Tech this week and then could play Texas Tech again. So they, they feasibly could go one and one against Texas Tech and still, you know, find themselves in the playoff. They win this week, we might be talking about BYU writing them in. Penn in the playoff. All right, Brent, I want you to jump in here on this one because this is when it gets weird for me. 10 and 11, like I only get two spots, right? So here's, here's my decision making process when it went into this because 12 is obviously taken. So I'm deciding 10 now. I've got Notre Dame, I've got Oregon, I've got OU and I've got Texas. Okay. I got those four teams. Brett, an ACC team has to be in there. So an ACC team takes up one of these spots no matter what. So whether it's 10 or 11. Okay, so which do you value more? So Notre Dame, six straight wins. Win against usc, beating NC State. They, they beat Pitt. And by the way, Pitt was a, is on a five game heater now. But they lost to Miami head to head, who's now lost two games as well. But they also lost to Miami by 3am by 1. So there's Notre Dame, Oregon. Oregon's best win is Northwestern. That's their only team they've beaten with a winning record. They lost to, to Indiana. Close. Which is something that nobody's done. So I guess that's a credit to them. So if you're looking at Oregon and what they've done, hard to say something great about their resume, right? Like a close loss at home to, to Indiana is a double digit loss.
Wesley (Co-host)
D.P.
Brent (PFF Analyst)
I'M in here.
Wesley (Co-host)
Was it close? 10 points at home.
David Hollis
I'm saying that was closer than everybody else to Indiana, but I mean Indiana can. Indiana controlled the game. Yeah.
Brent (PFF Analyst)
Iowa, they don't forget about Iowa.
David Hollis
Who should be ranked? That's a great call, Wesley. It's a great call. So. So I have Notre Dame and I have Oregon. Okay, Brent, just for purposes now, who would you have above each other? Would you have Notre Dame above Oregon or Oregon above Notre Dame? It's a tough question, isn't it? This is why this exercise is fun and why you get in a room. It should be like this. It should be difficult.
Brent (PFF Analyst)
Well, considering that you had Oregon at seven last week and then they didn't Play.
David Hollis
No, but the week before and the week before that, they won 217 against Wisconsin.
Brent (PFF Analyst)
Whether you'd be out.
David Hollis
Yeah.
Brent (PFF Analyst)
You know, all that sort of stuff. I would probably still have Oregon above Notre Dame at this point. But, you know, again, you're. You're splitting hairs.
David Hollis
It's that. That's what. That's what I.
Wesley (Co-host)
Like.
Brent (PFF Analyst)
They're both in at this point.
David Hollis
But if you. But if you don't do that, like, if you don't talk about splitting hairs, it's really hard. Right? Like, it's. It's hard to. It's hard to discuss these. And now. Now sort out this, Brent. Now I'm going to throw OU and Texas in the same plate with you. And, oh, you obviously has the losses to Texas, to Ole Miss. They got the win at Tennessee at night, which is big time. You've got the material injury to throw into this. At some point, they got Bama down the stretch, which could solidify their playoff ranking and they could shut up. Yeah. And the Michigan win out of conference is huge. Okay. And then you got Texas. They beat ou, and they beat Vandy, but they lost to Florida. They lost to Ohio State, which everyone has, but they played it pretty close, and they still got to go at 5, Georgia, and they got to host number 3A and M, so they got a chance to play their way in. But you got those four teams, man, and you got to pick one of them. Like, who the. Who the heck you putting in? Like. Or. Or you got to pick two of them. Right? Like, who you. Who you putting it. Who you putting in there?
Brent (PFF Analyst)
I mean, you got. You didn't have either of them.
David Hollis
No, I got Oregon. Yeah, correct. Because I've got. I put Notre Dame and Oregon in. And. And then you get. Oh, you.
Brent (PFF Analyst)
This is where this is. This process is.
David Hollis
Sucks.
Brent (PFF Analyst)
It's.
David Hollis
Well, it sucks.
Brent (PFF Analyst)
We talked about this in the beginning of the season, how there's a world where you've got four or five Big Ten and SEC teams that are sitting there at 10 and 2, and you're going to have to, you know, draw strings to different places. Well, this person beat this one, this beat that one, and it's just going to be a mess. And I have. I have all sorts of faith in the playoff committee to do the right thing and be exact. And I had all kinds of faith in them. But then maybe they tweeted out a video of all these guys putting hats on a thing, and it.
David Hollis
Just leave your hat at the door. So stupid.
Brent (PFF Analyst)
Yeah, leave the hat at the Door. It looked very. Just awkward. I don't know. I didn't.
David Hollis
So anyway, I lost a little bit.
Brent (PFF Analyst)
Of faith maybe after all this crap.
David Hollis
You got Notre Dame, Oregon, ou, Texas. You got to put that well. Then you got the ACC teams where Virginia beat Louisville. Virginia's looked very average in a lot of games, but they found ways to win so they deserve credit. Georgia Tech just lost to NC State.
Brent (PFF Analyst)
So you, you've got think about NC State right there. Yes, Georgia Tech and Virginia. Like Virginia has a conference loss, but it's a non conference loss because of the way they're.
David Hollis
Which is weird.
Brent (PFF Analyst)
That's weird. But yes, it's such a.
David Hollis
So you got those three in a little order right there. I went with Virginia because Virginia beat Louisville head to head. Like right now that should matter. And that's where Texas and. Oh, you. I come in. That's where I've got Texas above Oklahoma, but I think Oklahoma to me, if Mattier puts this together and you see the return of John Mattier with the hand, like that's got to be taken into account. Like that two losses are because of the thumb. If, if he looks the way he looked last week and started to look in the second half, like it's. It's a part of the criteria in the college football selection committee.
Brent (PFF Analyst)
So with their schedule, their schedule, they went out. I don't see how they're not in at 10 and 2.
David Hollis
But would you say the same thing about Texas? Because Texas plays Georgia and A and M, so they got five and three on their schedule. They went out. They're going to be in.
Brent (PFF Analyst)
They are in too.
David Hollis
Yeah.
Brent (PFF Analyst)
And then others might not be.
David Hollis
Bro, could you imagine how pissed everybody would be in our comments if Texas was in, if Oklahoma was in, if A and M was in, if Georgia was in, if Alabama was like.
Brent (PFF Analyst)
You mean if it was SEC teams.
David Hollis
Oh my gosh. Could you imagine how pissed off. Remember Tech fans, we've been giving you love and we love you. Your best win is Duke. Like you lost by double digits to NC State and didn't stop people like this. This all counts. Like we're still giving you love, but we can't put you of a lot of teams when your win isn't there. Like you got a chance to beat Georgia towards the end of the year. But. But right now I don't see any way how you could, you could rank a Georgia Tech ahead of any of those.
Brent (PFF Analyst)
No. And especially I don't think they've even beaten like a top 35 team. So no if you the big 10 and we talked about this last week when we were doing the picks about how Oregon kind of drives the bus of whether the Big Ten gets one, maybe two teams in because they have to play Iowa this week. USC and Washington and then Washington and if Washington runs the tables 10 and two, if you, you know, there's so many crazy scenarios now. If they beat them all and none of them are too often beat them.
David Hollis
All, they knock everybody out and they're.
Brent (PFF Analyst)
They're like they're the third Big Ten team and then they're probably not a fourth. No, there's not that because so Oregon kind of holds the key to a lot of this. Can they win out or do they get beat once?
David Hollis
And, and I would say too like Texas probably has the biggest room to grow and climb the most because one of the losses at Ohio State. But when you have a chance to beat five on the road and beat three like you can, you can, you can start leaping up like you can start doing but.
Brent (PFF Analyst)
Or they went out there in the SEC championship game. Yeah.
David Hollis
And Oregon is you talking about at Iowa, you're talking about usc, you're talking about at Washington you got a chance to beat three really good teams on the way to closing stretch to make your arguments. And that's where listen, we can get in this sec Big Ten, it really doesn't matter. But like Ohio State's not going to have their best win is going to be at a conference. Like it's going to be Texas at a conference.
Brent (PFF Analyst)
So well, Michigan at that point, Michigan.
David Hollis
Might be that depending on what what they do. But Memphis closes out at 12 because you got to have one in there and then USF I think is very much in it. Like it's going to be interesting.
Brent (PFF Analyst)
I look Today I've got seven G5 teams that still kind of I actually I looked at all of who can.
David Hollis
North Tech make the playoffs and yeah.
Brent (PFF Analyst)
I've got 34 teams which is about.
David Hollis
What we started with. Brent. We started with 35. I think on opening before the season.
Brent (PFF Analyst)
I think my list had like 43. But yes, you had a little bit less but.
David Hollis
But, but that's where the playoff is so much fun. And listen to get a peek underneath the hood like that's going to be fun next week. Like we at least get to start to say okay what matters because we've got some head to head to head indicators with similar records like Notre Dame and Miami might be a conversation. Texas and Oklahoma might be a conversation. We're going to have Things. And we'll do the live reaction show after the show tomorrow night, which I think will be great, is just things to ponder, things to think about and things that they looked at, you know, moving in the committee and how they used it. But it's not super awesome.
Brent (PFF Analyst)
Who are you? Pen right now in the place which. Because at one point I felt like I could put Miami in pen and that they've totally ruined that. So maybe I didn't.
David Hollis
But you did. But you erased them. It was erasable pen. Yes, you showed me the.
Brent (PFF Analyst)
We put them in pencil, right? We put it in them and pencil.
David Hollis
Ohio State and Indiana are. Ohio State, Indiana, Indiana in, like, there's no chance that they're not in. It's 100% chance they're in like, A and M. The percentage starts to drop a little bit. But their schedule, man, like, they would have to lose to Missouri this week. They'd have to lose, like, trip and stumble and then lose to Texas. I mean, it just. The scenarios aren't great for them not to be in. And I don't see a world where they get blown out. Like, you'd have to blow them out. Like, you'd have to wax them. And I just. So I'm ready to put them in an erasable pen. But then from that point on, man, like, I'm not. I would say I'm more confident about Ole Miss than I am Georgia. Like, I'm ready to put Ole Miss. If Ole Miss beats Florida. I think Ole Miss is in the College Football Playoff. Like, and then you're going to. At Mississippi State to end the season, which is, which is hard. But, like, the only locks I'm 100% sure of is Ohio State and Indiana with their schedule. Like, did you see. Just take a peek at. If you look, Brent, just here's, here's. Here's Indiana's schedule. Penn State, Wisconsin, Purdue, all of them have five losses. That's their next run of schedule. So literally, if I'm an Indiana fan, I'm going, please stay healthy. Please stay healthy. Like, we don't even need you guys. We can use some backups in this one. Like, I might even rest guys at some point. So that.
Brent (PFF Analyst)
And it even sets up a scenario. Now, this is assuming Ohio State runs the table. And this is way ahead of conversation, but they're playing each other and it's basically they're playing for who's going to be the one seed and who's going to be the three seed. Probably, I would assume the S. I'm Going to put the SEC champion as the 2 seed.
David Hollis
Unless you get stomped out.
Brent (PFF Analyst)
Unless you.
O'Reilly Auto Parts Announcer
Unless.
Brent (PFF Analyst)
Unless he beats it. And you know, there's issues there and they might just be playing for one and two already. They might. They might. That game might not matter at all in any way other than who gets crowned the Big Ten champion and gets the hand of the thing, but still. Oh, you know, we talked. You talked about Auburn earlier. I saw a very interesting tweet just to bring it back just a little bit to. In this. Three teams in the fbs and I, I didn't look this up, but I think it's true. Haven't allowed more than 24 points in a game this year. Ohio State, Indiana and Auburn, who's 4 and 5. The other two are 9. Zero.
David Hollis
RIP. Ricky. Such a good team.
Brent (PFF Analyst)
Sorry. Sorry.
David Hollis
What could have been.
Brent (PFF Analyst)
Sorry. Auburn Tiger fans.
David Hollis
All right, so that, that, that, that leads to a great question. I want you to, I want you to go ahead and ask it because I think.
Brent (PFF Analyst)
Okay.
David Hollis
Question. I think this question will be talked about by everybody across college football.
Brent (PFF Analyst)
To where we're at today. If I give you the opportunity to take the Big Ten to win the whole thing or the field, who are you taking?
David Hollis
Big Ten. Not even close. I don't even, I don't have to debate this because that means I get the two team. This, two teams that have been the most dominant, consistent. And I get Oregon, who's another third team that I've seen some great flashes from. And then obviously the, the sec. I'm getting more teams. I'm getting a more of a wide variety of teams. But you got to keep in mind, if you're going to run the table, you've got to put three or four games together. You better have an O, you better have a D, and you better have some explosive playmakers on the outside and you better have a QB that can sling it. Indiana sounds pretty good. Ohio State sounds pretty good in those areas. Like, I just, I'm, I'm absolutely taking the Big Ten and I'm not, I'm not batting an eye, which is, which is madness. I think people think. Might think we're crazy. But you feel the same way.
Brent (PFF Analyst)
Yes, because I. Anything that gives me Ohio State, I feel like Ohio State this year feels very much like 2022 Georgia, where they know they're really good and they're just kind of getting through the regular season. Does that mean they can. They can't get beat? No, it doesn't mean that at all. There's all those Things, you know, Georgia almost got beat by Ohio State that year, but it's going to take a herculean effort for to them to me to be beaten.
David Hollis
And Michigan's like. Michigan fans are like, hold my beer. Remember, four straight. You got me at the end of the season.
Brent (PFF Analyst)
But yes.
David Hollis
So that's that, that's. That's the exercise. The Big Ten or the field for the College Football Playoff. And C ball, get ball. We got. We got the Big Ten. So I'm sure we'll have some good comments in the chat about that. All right, so we. We did who's written in pen. We kind of did the locks. Now who's eliminated and who we say bye bye to that again. You don't have to be mathematically eliminated. We're just saying that you're eliminated. We feel like you have no shot. Houston, we have a problem. Bye bye. I mean, so nice. Such a good story. Houston man, like got back in the. In the throes of it, man was being talked about in the Big 12. Really. Willie Fritz still has done a heck of a job turning around. But Houston, after that one, after losing.
Brent (PFF Analyst)
To that team, that team, they lost that team. The team that didn't have a conference win. What's by God, Mountaineers. They do now there's a problem in Houston. They. I there to me they're. And actually I think they might even be mathematically eliminated barring some insane upset. Tennessee, for me, I. That was a playoff elimination game. They lost it. They had the home at home. They dominated the first half except on the scoreboard. Gave it away and then gave it away. Like that was. That was not good. Tennessee mistakes.
David Hollis
They're gonna feel like mistakes kill them too. Like if you look back, you're gonna.
Brent (PFF Analyst)
Feel like gosh darn both home games for them too.
David Hollis
Yeah. And that's that. I had that same thing in my head. Like, man, you gotta win at home. Like those games at home you have to win. Especially man, those fans are so good, man. Like that at one singular moment, it's the loudest place I've ever heard in my life and it's not even close. Like, couldn't even talk to the person next to me. I thought we were signing. I thought we became mimes. Like, it was incredible playing on that field. Wesley, who you kicking to the curb in eliminating.
Wesley (Co-host)
Brent's non zero chance? Vanderbilt Commodores.
David Hollis
Oh, so you're putting it to a zero now it's officially. It's officially a zero.
Wesley (Co-host)
Yeah. And it's really not because I don't think they have the stuff. I think clearly they've proven that they're, they're salty. And Pavia is the man. He's fun to watch, but like you said, Texas had enough tools to kind of keep him in check. And for me, it's mostly about their remaining schedule. They got Auburn, Kentucky and at Tennessee. I mean, I don't know, maybe some craziness shakes out in the sec, but as this conference continues to beat itself up week after week, a win over Tennessee could be impressive if the circumstances are a little different. But as of today, zero chance for me, for the Commodore. Sorry, Brent.
David Hollis
Brent, you going non zero. Brent, I mean, are you, are you ready to, are you ready to concede? Brent?
Brent (PFF Analyst)
No, I'm not. I'm not ready to concede yet. There's chaos in this college football season.

Vandy still has a non zero chance.
David Hollis
All right. Vandy, according to Brent, Vandy's still in it. All right. Every week, man, we give you some weird wacky crazy numbers that you need to hear. Brought to you by. Pff. Brent's worked there for like 25, 000 years. Charted games, done all that stuff. What's the code, Brent, for the promo.
Brent (PFF Analyst)
Code, get ball 25.
David Hollis
And if you're a nerd, go get some. Get, get ball 25.
Brent (PFF Analyst)
And for those that like want to just crap on it all the time, just stop. The coaches too? Coaches too. NFL and college. They want to crap on it. Just stop. You would, you're, you're, you know, process would go back to the stone age if it didn't exist. So just stop crapping on. Pff. You can. The grades. Okay, we can argue.
David Hollis
That sounds personable. That's. I like that. That sounds very personal. Where did that come from? That, that came from a specific place. I want to know where it came from. I just, I, I don't.
Brent (PFF Analyst)
If you want to crap on it, go understand it. It's a machine. Like, is it perfect? No, but no thing is perfect that's going to evaluate a game with 22 players on the field and an oblong football. Like. But in terms of the data and all the things that come with it and the things that we're going to talk about and look at, it's. There's nothing better. And just. And here's the thing. For grades part, I work there and have for over 12 years. I don't look at the grades as the end all be all. Like, I know it's just part of it. And okay, if it's 72 versus 70, what's the big deal? You know, is the guy playing well or not? Look at the tape yourself. It can sort of matches. But the little things that people worry about in that and gripe about that. Yeah, stop.
David Hollis
Just. So give me some numbers I can go ahead and rip on you about because I can't wait to just find a number right here that I can't stand.
Brent (PFF Analyst)
So I'm going to do a few. Just Sort of bigger picture, college football. And then we'll get into the games this week. Arch Manning, you know, we've sort of talked about his rise over the last four games, starting with the Oklahoma game, but it's actually been. And we talked about it a little. You talked about a little bit Saturday in the game. Vandy, them getting the ball out fast and just letting their playmakers go do things. So first five games, arch manning, average time to throw, 3.23 seconds, average depth of target, 11.9 yards and air yardage. So how much it was less after the catch versus more him, 57%. The last four games, 2.6 seconds, average time to throw. And only 35 of his yardage has been through the air. 64th out of 68 Power 4 QBs in that game against Vandy, 86 of their rushing yards came after contact and 77 of their passing yards came after the catch. Like, they just let their guys, Jimmy's and Joe's, go win that game.
David Hollis
Go be dudes. And here's. Here's something that, that people are going to think is very, very weird. I, I think the concussion absolutely helped Arch Manning. And I say that because Brent is the first time I've seen him play where he did not want to get hit. It was very clear he didn't want to get hit. So I thought he played more conservative. When he scrambled to the right and throws that touchdown pass, no part of him thought about running and taking a shot. He thought about playing QB. A lot of times you see him when he gets hurried, he's running, he's taken off, he's going to be physical. I'm not saying the concussion was good. I'm just saying for his thought process, I think it made him sit in the pocket a little bit more and think about getting the ball out. Don't take shots, be smart. And I think that's a good recipe for Texas moving forward.
Brent (PFF Analyst)
Basically, be like his uncles.
David Hollis
Yes.
Brent (PFF Analyst)
Not himself.
David Hollis
It's a good, It's a good. That's a good critique for sure. All right.
Brent (PFF Analyst)
The other quarterback at that point in, in that game, that sort of tipping point, Mater. Yes. They've won two games, but the last four weeks he has the lowest passing grade in the power 4, 38.7. So they need him to get better fast. And if you're not going to, if he's not going to be that, then you got to keep running the ball more.
David Hollis
So I would love to see the second half of Tennessee grade. So maybe we get that for next show just because I think I do, I do think it was. I do think it took a step in the right direction. I don't think it was elite, but he hasn't been the same guy. There's no doubt.
Brent (PFF Analyst)
And now that you're on the Julian saying train that I've been telling you about all season, I'm just gonna, I wanted to throw some numbers at you. He has an 80.7 completion percentage, just general completion percentage right now. That would be the best ever, ever in college football, bo, next to 23. And Mac Jones in 20 at 77.4%. So he's at 80.7 right now. His adjusted completion percentage. So that counts in like drops, throwaways, things like that. 86 would be the best in PFF's history, which is. Goes back to 2014. He's number one in passing grade. He's number one in we do ball placement. So like strike zone for throws. He's number one in accuracy for that. He's number two in the FPS and yards per attempt. And the other part, this is where it helps and you've. And this is the part where you were right in terms of. It's nice to have these guys to throw to. He has the lowest drop percentage in the, in the FPS. It's 1.7%. They have.
David Hollis
What about, what about a couple drops catches too? There's a few of those on there that are pretty solid.
Brent (PFF Analyst)
Yes. Tate's bet Tate is one of the best in the country. Contested.
David Hollis
I think Tate's like 10 of 10 on deep balls or 10 of 11 on deep balls thrown 20 plus yards down the field. And it just, it's a consistent under throw and it's a consistent. I'm better than you. Like it's pretty, it's pretty impressive. I'm not, not on the Julian saying bandwagon. I think he's, I think he's elite of elite. I think he's really good with accuracy. I think there's guys that I would absolutely take over him. But what I saw last week, I'm telling you, man, that was different to me. Like buying time under duress by, by drifting by scrambling. That's the difference. That's going to take Ohio State from being a championship caliber team and being a great team in the playoff to winning a championship. Like it's going to be. He's going to have to make three or four when he plays a really good defense, which he hasn't yet. Like he's going to have to make a few of those. And he looked okay against Texas, which is the best defense he's played in order to beat some of the good teams. Which Indiana's got a good defense. Like we're going to get to see it. You know, Michigan's got a pretty good defense, bro. Like it's going to be fun to see. But I think with those receivers, man, like that one, two, punch the field you're playing, you're playing downhill the whole game. Like the fields like this. Everything is so nice. It's so easy to play, man.
Brent (PFF Analyst)
There's never been a season in the. In the 12 years that PFF has done college grading where the drop percentage for QB has been less than 2. And the only 3 where it's been less than 3, the lowest ever is Bryce Perkins in 2019. Do you remember who Bryce Perkins played for? The current playoff team in your playoff. In your top 12.
David Hollis
Why am I drawing a blank? Go ahead and say it.
Brent (PFF Analyst)
Virginia Cavaliers. Jalen hurts also 2.4, 2.5%.
David Hollis
You know what's amazing about that, Brent? Another thing to put in for numbers later on. There was at least three or four drops in the first game against Texas. At least Jeremiah Smith dropped.
Brent (PFF Analyst)
Yes.
David Hollis
At least two or three dropped one in the flat on third down like so. That's even crazier. I bet they haven't dropped a pass since the first game. Good lord. Anyways, put that little. Put that in your big noggin.
Brent (PFF Analyst)
Yep, it's there. We'll spin it forward this week. Byu, Texas Tech, contrasting styles, maybe social, socially, in terms of college student styles between these two schools. But one Texas Tech, we talked about them in pass rush grade. They're no longer the top and pass rush grade in the country. Louisville is, but it's really close. But I did want to talk about those three defensive players, Jacob Rodriguez, Romello, Height and David Bailey. Because they are right now number two, number three and number four of every defensive player in the power four. In terms of grade, like the last six years, there's been a few teams that have had two. Nobody's had three. And these guys that, you know, Height and Bailey, Jacob Rodriguez is unreal. Both run defense and coverage grade over 90. He's got seven force fumbles.
David Hollis
That's crazy.
Brent (PFF Analyst)
It's number one by a wide margin.
David Hollis
And.
Brent (PFF Analyst)
And these are like next to three.
David Hollis
There's a lot of fumbles that are luck, 100% luck. That dude comes in with a Cobra Kai punch like he comes in with the fury. And the timing of that is so elite. Man. And listen, you go to practices in colleges now they're teaching this like they're working on it more than ever. Like yeah, it used to be 100% wrap up with one hand, try to strip with the other hand. Now it's like Evander Holyfield, Mike Tyson, that business and just punch the piss out of him to see if you can get the ball out.
Brent (PFF Analyst)
I've seen many college teams practice with boxing gloves on doing that.
David Hollis
Well most of the time the boxing gloves are for the secondary not to hold. But yeah.
Brent (PFF Analyst)
David Bailey though, number one in quarterback pressures, number two in or number one in sacks like those guys. Rodriguez was in house but height and Bailey, big time return on investment for them. And now they get to face Bear.
David Hollis
And They gave up 40 on Arizona State which is mind blowing. Like that's, that's crazy.
Brent (PFF Analyst)
Anyways, two other good big games this week. First one, Oregon at Iowa. This to me I, I wrote this down as an NFL scouts game because you've got Iowa's offensive line against Oregon's defensive line that has four pros on it and I was. Offensive line has the number one run. Yeah the number one run block grade in the country. Every lineman is right at 80 or above. They have the number their own number one plastball efficiency. Like to go against Mateo to Ioti.
David Hollis
Say fast. Say it fast.
Brent (PFF Analyst)
Mary Alexander and Amari Washington who are all like draft type guys.
David Hollis
A guy that's going to be flying in there and make and being matched up as well.
Brent (PFF Analyst)
Manteo. Yeah.
David Hollis
I think it's. That's a fun game for many reasons. One, Iowa deserves serious consideration to being ranked but it's very much like, like Washington just go earn it like after they win this game there's nothing anybody can say like you're at home.
Brent (PFF Analyst)
They'll be in the teens.
David Hollis
The pink locker room will be out in full effect like it's, it's fantastic. Google it if you don't, if you don't know it. Like it's literally all pink. The visiting locker room for, for the visiting team. It's. It's the crappiest locker room ever. Which is why I love it because it's just psychological warfare. But that will be a bunch of good on good And Oregon's run defense will be tested. It would be very much tested on with Gronowski and the way he can run it too like and healthier now and man still what if with Iowa too because they could have beat Indiana and it was at home. It was a great game.
Brent (PFF Analyst)
So I will be will be very much watching Oregon the last part last month of the season, all of November and then the other ranked matchup, Texas A and M at Missouri. Missouri, you know, new QB again after Prabula's injury which I did see. I think he doesn't have to have the surgery so good for, for the kid.
David Hollis
Yeah.
Brent (PFF Analyst)
But the thing is Marcel Reed on the road against Notre Dame and lsu. I'm not counting Arkansas. Arkansas's like I think you might be able to throw for 200 on Arkansas's defense, but him on the road against Notre Dame and yeah, elbow's good for that. On the road against Notre Dame and LSU. 52.4 passing grade, 50 completion, 6 turnover. The plays he's got three picks now, a lot of yardage, a lot of points and a lot of yards rushing. And that's. That's the thing where what makes them so unique is that even if he's inefficient, the trump card of his legs he gone is a very big time trump card. But Missouri obviously is very. Is very solid defensively. Has two really good pass rushers. Curious to see how he handles himself on the road at Mizzou. Who's fighting? That's playoff life.
David Hollis
That, that's why I look at A and M as the team that can, that can, that can jump into the top stratosphere of college football is just because dude, they can rush the passer at a really elite level. Elite level and play good D in the back end. Good pasty. And everybody who touches the football has a chance to house it. Like you throw it to Conception, you throw it to Craver and then Reed is just like bye bye. See you piece like bye Felicia. So it's a fun outfit to watch and I think in the games when you need it the most, you run them. And that's probably why when you're. It's not in sync, it's not in rhythm, so be it. But A and M is a handful. Another. Another ranked game now to to show that and then obviously there's nothing that would be sweeter than it for an Aggie fan is end of the season to knock Texas out of the playoff like that would just.
Brent (PFF Analyst)
Yes.
David Hollis
End there. That would. That would like winning a championship would be freaking awesome. Sending the hook em and hook them downs out of the playoff like every cadet and every A and M Aggie would be like yeah.
Brent (PFF Analyst)
So peace. Following up on that would do you think their fan base would be like hey we made it to the playoffs. We won A game, you know, or two, fine, whatever. We got beat. But if we end Texas this season and put them out of the playoff when they were preseason number one.
David Hollis
Oh, so beautiful. Absolutely. So beautiful. That'd be so jacked up.
Brent (PFF Analyst)
Hey, maybe the. Would you rather. Is a. Would you rather win the whole thing or would you rather knock Texas out of the playoffs at the end of the season?
David Hollis
And Ohio State fans are going, you know what? We lost to Michigan, but nobody remembers because we got that championship. So the championship's always the. It should be the trump card in the end. All right, wrapping it up here. C ball. Get ball. Victory formation. The team that won the weekend, the team that had something good that. That we need to talk about it. And Brent, like, I didn't give you an option. I literally wrote in the chat, like, we have this little like, Google Doc thing that we've talked about. Yes. I've just learned what Google Doc is and it's fricking life changing. It's amazing. Like, continuing to use it now. And it's awesome. Like, it is unbelievably outstanding. Yes. I know everybody else learned in college, but in the Google Doc we put. We put WV very quickly.
Brent (PFF Analyst)
Yes. Hey, they got a conference win. Mountaineers showed some life. I think. I. I know they didn't get a ranked win in the Neil Brown era, I don't think. And Rich Rod gets one in year one.
David Hollis
Okay.
Brent (PFF Analyst)
So when the big one.
David Hollis
When the win a big one in year one for the ranking. Good job.
Brent (PFF Analyst)
You got a ranked win and you beat Pittsburgh.
David Hollis
I mean, that's a. I mean y', all, y', all, y'.
Brent (PFF Analyst)
All.
David Hollis
For y' all that don't know it's Sweet Caroline. This is what every West Virginia fan sings. The rivalry reek. It's Sweet Caroline. And instead of those normal part of the song that's fantastic. Which everybody loves to sing. It says each pit. That's how much they hate Pitt. So And Pitt. Look at their season, man. They've had a great season. Like, they've got a question to be ranked and how they finish will be. Will be fun to watch. But the fact that West Virginia had two big wins this year, really good sign for the future probably of things to come. I got smu. I got the ponies. I got the pony express. The SMU hiring Rhett Lashley, making a commitment to him, you know what make him a highest. A top 10 paid coach in all of college football. And what does he give you? He gives you a top 10 win. So SMU making the right decisions. And a lot of people thought SMU was going to fall off the face of the earth like from what they did a year ago. Remember they won the conference very much still in the race after beating Miami. Now the costly loss of to Wake Forest a couple weeks ago. But SMU hires or extends their coach, pays him the money and he flipping delivers and gets it done in a big time win against Miami. Wesley, who you got winning the weekend, homie? G, you're on mute. But that's fantastic. Everything you're saying is great.
Wesley (Co-host)
But going back to the Iowa locker room, what was the worst visiting locker room you went into?
David Hollis
Ooh, worst visiting locker room. I mean I, I'd probably go like off the rip. I'd probably go Vandy. Like Vandy's was, was ungood. It was not like on the good on the one side of the stadium. I'm sure I'm going to catch flack for that. But like that's the. Yeah, it was, it was a lot.
Wesley (Co-host)
Of Vanderbilt viewers each week. I think you're safe. I'm going with Jeremiah love for that 94 yard touchdown run when he's bolting towards the end zone and looks to the sideline. And I heard him on Sirius XM today on Full Ride and he said he was looking for his running backs coach because he told him that he bet he couldn't take it to the house. Imagine being that fast, that the rest of the world around you is so slow you can just take the time and look for your ball. Coach thought that was sick. And speaking of Jeremiah Love, I think we got some news on guest on Wednesday, right?
David Hollis
Yes, we're gonna, we're gonna be spreading the love. Love is in the air Wednesday we'll have Jeremiah Love join us which will be awesome. His story is really, really cool. But just to, I mean this is the team in Notre Dame that, that played, they went against Miami's, you know, dreaded defense.
