What up, dudes? Welcome back in to Seball. Get ball. I love this angle. When you show this angle, the helmets are proudly displayed. We've got down here. We've got Kentucky and UCLA to add to the mix. Coming to coming to near a theater near you soon. Wishing everybody a happy belated Mother's Day. I wonder how everybody celebrates that so many different ways with Mother's Day with the in laws separate. How do you. How do you do presents? Like do you still do. Do you do presents for your mom? Brent, do you do presents for your mom? Wes, do you do presents for your mom? Like now do you send them stuff for Mother's Day or spend time with them? Send them a text like what do you mean?
D
I definitely talk to my mom. Which my mom is 500 miles away so that there. But you know I got the end of something from for Mother's Day.
C
Okay, so you do you do do Mother's Day presents.
D
I mean not. It just depends. Depends on what's going on. It's not a consistent.
C
What'd you get her?
D
I was a travel like steamers for ironing dress things is really neat, new and good. It's going to be useful for us. It's going to be very useful in the near future. More of a need thing than it is anything. That's great. But we got all sorts of other things.
C
Not. I'm not hating but I love that my kids can drive like and I love now like it's. It's on them to go get your own Mother's day gifts. But like me and Lindsay, you're like I've always said this. You're a mother every day. I'm a father every day. So I don't know that we need a day. But we do do what she wants to do. At night we watched a movie and we Watched Impractical Jokers last night. That's what she wanted to do last night. Hey, super fun.
D
What do they want to do? Right?
C
Yeah, I'm good with that.
D
Yeah, son, get some. Go, you know, do whatever.
C
And yeah, did it.
D
Everybody was home, so we hung out. It's a great weekend.
C
Yeah. Fo show. All right. Well, I was just wondering. You can pray for me, all of you. The praying type out there. Because I went to the beach. My daughter turned 16 and we took six 16 year old girls to the beach for the weekend. It rained the whole entire weekend. So we were in the house the whole weekend. And my ears still haven't recovered. They're still ringing. I mean the loudness was absolutely incredible. Greatest showman going down. They watched Armageddon. They watched Titanic. Like that was kind of cool to watch some of those old school movies. I actually thought that was actually kind of cool and fun. But it was good. Baby girl. My. My youngest is now 16, so I'm officially really, really old. Several. There's. There's a lot of football updates. A lot of them. Wes. I mean obviously some, some are, some are good this time of year and some are not as much fun. And obviously the Ahmad Hardy update falls in that category.
E
Yeah, not a good one shot early Sunday morning and yeah, you know, big deal for Missouri's backfield. One of the best in the SEC in 2025. Pete Thamel reporting that he could have a path back to playing again, but the timetable is tbd so we'll keep you posted on that.
C
Just shot in the leg. Right, right. The femur. Two o' clock in the morning. It was at a concert. Listen kiddos, nothing good happens after 12. We've heard that for years and it continues to, to stay that way. Nothing good. But, but you talk about like that that was, that was one of the best players in the country and, and, and decided to come back to school which could have gone to the NFL. That dude, he. They talk about him loving to ride horses. That dude's built like a horse. I mean that dude's legs are enormous. Tackle breaking machine. Led the SEC in rushing. Rushing touchdowns. I think almost 1700 yards, 16 touchdowns. All SEC honors, like all that stuff. So obviously horrible news for Missouri. And then I think it sounds promising that he'll be back which is, which is a good thing for, for this offense they still got. Roberts is behind him, I think is still there who was really, really good too. And then listen, I'm not going to go into Lane Kiffin and Lane Kiffin's quote, like, there's, there's a lot. And if you want to go look it up, you can go look it up. It's. It's very, it's very documented. But I just would like to say this September 19, 2026, circle highlight star, whatever the freak you want to do, there will be no better game day experience than that day in Oxford when LSU goes to Ole Miss. Like, you, you saw the way Lane left you. You saw the antics. We heard all the comments about how it was basically better to win a national championship. Now Lane coming out in an article, it sounds. Wesley, this is legit, right? Like, I mean, he, he definitely, he definitely said this, correct?
E
Vanity Fair. Yeah. So last week, a lot of the photos were going viral of Lane posing in, like, his office and posing in Death Valley for a high quality photo shoot for Vanity Fair. And he thought maybe it's just going to be like a feature piece on Coach Kiffin, but sounds like they, they got quite the quote out of them when it comes to LSU and Ole Miss. And we talked about Brian Kelly last week. His son just took a job on Ole Miss's staff. So, I mean, there are so many threads throughout this thing that, you know, growing up, I don't know that you thought of LSU Ole Miss as like a huge rivalry, but this one has taken on a new life of its own.
C
Yeah. He basically contrasted LSU Baton Rouge with, with Ole Miss with Oxford and basically the, the Confederate flag was brought up and then expressed hesitation about Oxford and some of the recruiting, how it was different in Baton Rouge. And he just said, he described these as factual observations with no sense of segregation or no, excuse me, factual observations rather than shots at Ole Miss. I get it, I understand it. I. Pointing out facts, but like Lane Kiffin. Remember Lane Kiffin's return to Tennessee. Like, you remember that return? Like it was. He got hit by a golf ball. Like golf balls are being thrown on the field. Like, I can't even imagine what's going to happen September 19, 2026. I can promise you where college game day will be. I can promise you where every SEC nation will be there. Like, everything will be there pointing to Lane. And the comments I've heard about Lane this year basically is, you know, you'll be, you'll be posted up camp with LSU because Lane's going to be such a big story with LSU story obviously leaving Ole Miss, but more fuel to the fire. And, you know, September 19th, just circle it, star it, highlighted. All right. We've been walking through we started with the sec, then we went to the Big Ten, or now we're going through the Big Ten. We're going to do it in three parts. So now we got six mo. Big Ten dudes, dudes that you're going to know at the end of the year. The criteria is they can't be a breakout guy already. You can't already know, you know that they're a star. They can't have been rated highly on a video game. Like, this is a guy that you know is going to come. When you play them that week. It's going to be the main focal point. I'm going to give you one for Northwestern. And the dude's got three years of eligibility left, Luke. And by the way, Wes, you're going to love my. My name of my. One of my guys here. Like, I literally, I think I went, am I going to try to pick the hardest name possible in a couple. I'm going to give you a name and it's just going to be like, why did you pick that dude? But anyways, Big Ten dudes, we'll start with Luke. Luke De Heinecke is what I'm going with from Northwestern. Tight end. Stupid athlete. Can flat out fly. Like, really, really run. He was over a thousand. Division 2 Minnesota Duluth. But center point of this offense with, with Northwestern, they really struggle to stretch the field to find playmakers. So having a guy at the tight end spot that can let them do what they do and be very physical, you know the offensive coordinator is for Northwestern. No, you don't. 99% of you do not know that. Chip Kelly is the offensive coordinator for Northwestern. Chip Kelly, like, knows a little bit about football. And so now give him a weapon like Luke, who can line up in the slot, who can play tight end, all their stuff that he'll do with him. I bet you this dude will. Will get close to a thousand. He'll be one of the best tight ends in the Big Ten period at Northwestern. So that's a bold statement. Look out for my man, Ohio State. The Buckeyes have breakout candidates across the board. Every single year. Someone's got to play linebacker. And if you watch this system, Sonny Styles, Arvell Reese, both those guys picked in the top eight of the draft, like, I mean, just playmakers and obviously great athletes. But the system is really, really fun and allows them to do a lot. And the next guy is Christian Alagero. What's your. What's your guess? I don't know. Another.
E
I think it's Aliegro Allegro or Allegro.
C
Allegro or Allegro. We're going to know this is the first broadcast. We'll hear it so many times you won't be able to to mess it. But here's the thing. This isn't even close to the worst name to pronounce on this list. I should have played this safe. I should have gone with all the guys names they that you can easily pronounce. This is the breakout guy. Not that but Christian's going to be an absolute animal. The will linebacker spot is where Arvl Reese played on the ball, off the ball depending on what they do with with the system. Play on the edge, play in space, do a little bit of everything. He's a huge transfer from Wisconsin I believe is where he came from. Absolute stud. Going to be a baller for Ohio State this next year. Maryland. Okay, if you weren't watching a year ago what you want

Maryland's got some dudes now like that. Maryland is recruiting like the Baltimore area and getting guys to stay which is a big deal. But last year they got a quarterback to stay who was one of the most highly recorded recruited guys in the country, period. But they got Malik Washington to stay and I don't think you're going to. You didn't look at his numbers and you were like man that dude was special. But if you watched Maryland they had a couple edge guys that were sweet. They got another five star edge coming in. They've got some talent but when you looked at this guy, this Dude's different. Like 64220 rewrote the freshman record books. Maryland. And listen, that's not saying much for the quarterback spot. I get it. Like Scott Blake probably had more points than than their passers. You know, but like this dude had 2900 yards passing, 17 touchdowns, legit dual threat, has an arm, had a lot of drops, didn't have the greatest offensive line. But let me just hit you with some quotes from his head coach. Whether it be maturity level like Jalen Hurts, showed the playmaking ability like Tua or the understanding of the system like Mac Jones, Malik kind of has all three of those things. It's pretty high praise. Those are some pretty big names. I'll do you one better though. How about this new offensive coordinator said called him the most talented throw of the football that I've seen. I don't know if he's 12, I don't know how much football he's watched but like that just gives you an idea of what Clint Trickett things of him. The ceiling is so high. Again, one of the most highly recruited guys in the country. You saw flashes. If they can protect him, if they can make plays catching the football, if they can block for him. The dude's got so much its ability. It's absolutely crazy. Oregon, okay, this one was hard because I could have picked two defensive linemen literally to put on this list. You already know about Bear Alexander, you already know about Paul Ooey Unga Lay. You already know this group's gonna be really, really good. I'm gonna give you more guys that are just gonna be next. Freaks up like Oregon is absolutely stacked and it's not, it's. It's not even funny. It's an embarrassment of riches. Like embarrassing. But Matt Johnson red shirted last year. True. He's a sophomore that you know, redshirt freshman, whatever going to classify him. I don't know how those years work anymore but like D line 6 5, 2, 95. And then he's got Aiden Breland next to him. They combined for five sacks and constant pressure in the spring game like all over havoc. But when you're talking about coaches and they're talking about explosive get offs the frame, he's not a pure nose tackle. He can play the shaded off the center or three technique. But talked about violent hands, more athletic than fluid. Just like supposed to be an absolute baller playmaker. So you better look out for Matt Johnson. There's a lot of guys for for Oregon that you could point to. Just like a lot of other schools have a lot of guys. But I think he's the guy. Okay, this next one, I'm just stupid to try to do this dude's name but I have to do it justice. Listen, this is called C Ball, get ball for a reason. I play defense. I'm not the smartest dude in the world, but the spelling of this name is F, A, M, E. That's the first name. The last name is L, J, E, B, O, I. It's Fima. Ejiboy. That's his name. I looked it up. I had. I listened to him say it 65 times and tried to get it as much as possible. Transfer from Minnesota. But everything about Purdue, like their quarterback Ryan Brown, who you saw last year and had some good moments, they just talked about how unbelievable he is with the ball in his hands. Barry Odom wants to run the football. They're going to give him the rock and give it to him a lot. They're going to throw it to him. He's going to be the top weapon in the Purdue offense. So EJA boy is also fantastic. I can. I can hear Van Pelt being like, he's your boy. Like, I can hear it right now. Y' all are going to hear that on SportsCenter. But he'll be a breakout dude for. For Purdue, and that offense will. Will look better for him. Usc, the only true freshman on the list. And USC dude, you could have put a lot of people. You could have put Trent Mosley, who's a freshman, who's been the clear breakout wide receiver, and I could just go down the list. Stewart's a defensive lineman who. You could say, go down the list. He showed flashes a year ago. But I'm just going to tell you a personal quote I got from a coach in the south about Mark Bowman. He was like. He said, quote, verbatim. He's the closest thing that I've seen to Brock Bowers come out of high school football. This. This team was very familiar with Brock Bowers. Coach was very familiar with Brock Bowers. But just talking about the body type, being 6 foot 4, you know, 220, 30 pounds, the. The route, running the play, making give him the ball in a multitude of ways, screens, but well. And you think about him with Lincoln Riley, with their ability to run the football, and then they use those tight ends, those athletic tight ends up the seam after they've play faked and done all the stuff that they can do, the shallow screens, all the stuff they do such a great job. Mark Bowman will be a dude. There will be a lot of dudes who are freshmen and young at usc, a ton of guys. But I just got a feeling that Mark Bowman's going to be the most talked about and the most matchup, the biggest Matchup nightmare. But heard so many elite, elite things about him. So a lot of dudes right there, man. A lot of teams covered. That's. That's 12 of the 18 teams in the leagues covered. So we'll get to the next ones next. But next, Brett Rollins on three pff team. What is it Teams?
D
Teamworks.
C
Teamworks.
D
The enterprise part. I'm the data collection guy.
C
Teamwork makes the dream work. Brent. Brent works there and does all the data and does all that good stuff and.
D
All right, we got to hit your list real quick. Couple things.
C
The pronoun.
D
Yeah, I'm going to stay away from the enunciation. So Matt Johnson, they at least gave him Derek harmon's number. So 55, the double nickel. First. Former first round pick.
C
Harmon was a baller.
D
Yes, Harmon was a big time baller. They give him his number. So that, that tells you a little something. And then two. Maryland's offensive coordinator is Clint Trickett. Played at West Virginia, played QB at West Virginia. Started out at Florida State. His dad is one of the greatest offensive line coaches in the history of the sport, Rick Trickett. So he's seen a lot of ball. I was. You're saying how much he's seen.
C
I'm saying he might not have seen a lot, but that just, that's, that's a compliment, like, of what this dude has. And I just. And I know you watched it, Brent, because me and you post up on Saturdays. Like that's all we do. We. We watch every matchup of every game. But. But when you watch Malik Washington, the ball came out and he had some athleticism, he had some playmaking. That sucker was going. Was. Was really, really good and just needed some help around him. But that showed the talent set doesn't take a backseat to many.
D
No.
C
Hey, can we hit Pastor Dave real quick in the chat? Oregon going 9 and 3. I will put a lot of money on that, Pastor Dave. A lot.
D
We don't do that here. Come on.
C
We don't gamble here. But like I will put some tattoo on my body or something. Oregon is not going 9 and 3.
D
Or you might have to clip that one at some point. Oh, there he is. He's back. He's back. He froze up for a second.
C
I froze up a little bit. I should have clip.
D
Okay.
C
I do not gamble. You're right, Pastor Dave. We do not believe in gambling here.
D
Yeah, that's not. That's not our cup.
C
All right, give me some numbers though. You got some numbers for me, right, bro?
D
All right, so yes. Best Returning quarter cornerbacks. And what got me thinking about this was in your list of dudes, you know, sort of. Next up, guys, you talked about Courtney Guillory at Oklahoma as one of those guys as freaking baller.
C
Gonna be a shot, gonna be an island.
D
Big time ballers, a freshman. You're going into that sort of sophomore year. So I just started looking through about, you know, some of the cornerback rooms and just best guys coming back. And the unique part of it is Guillory is not one, not a lone ranger in terms of guys who were really good as freshmen that might become, like big time superstars as sophomores. Now, if I told you, if I asked you who's the best returning cornerback
C
in college football, I feel like that is.
D
That's a very easy answer.
C
It's a very easy answer. But the crazy thing is Leonard Moore was not highly recruited. But from day one, when you plugged him into the Notre Dame lineup, you were like, wow, like, that dude just sticks with Jeremiah Smith. Like, he played against Jeremiah Smith did more than fine. Like, he's just good. I think he was. I think he's got seven picks. Like, he's just in his first two seasons and he last year, in the beginning of the season, like USC and company. And then some of them tried him, like, and failed miserably. And then they're like, all right, I'm not even trying him. Like that dude has. But it's just awesome to watch a guy who wasn't the most highly recruited, but automatically he gets plugged in, gets good coaching, and right away becomes the best guy in the business and one of the best guys we've seen in a number of years. Like, yes, he's been that kind of good throughout his career. I mean, he's a stingly guy. Like, Stingley came in and played as a freshman, and you're like, okay, like, different. And Leonard Moore, obviously, I don't think the athletic ability of those guys, but man, the patience and the feet and the. Just never gets off balance, never gets fooled. It's insane.
D
I know. I was listening to Sam and Steve on their podcast, Check the mic. And Steve was talking. Palazzo was talking about more being one of the best corner prospects in.

D
Xxx however many years you want to go back, he's up there in terms of that but yes Leonard Moore Top returning cornerback 50 completion allowed in this career 14 pass breakups and 7 interceptions like you said. So I wanted to kind of go through some of these and then I'm going to touch on some of the sophomore ones and see if who you like to even take that further leap that are going into that sophomore class so the veteran guys Bryce Pollock at Texas Tech.
C
Oh how do you not love the Pollock guy? Come on man. So kidding. I'm not calling him Pollock. That's what I got called a lot as a player.
D
So do you know where he went to high school?
C
Shiloh freaking high school. He went to my high school and his name is Pollock. Like it's amazing. We are brothers. Did you not know that? Brett that's my brother from another mother
D
very much so but he's won five it's six breakups last year Evan Johnson at BYU five it seven PBUs Jer Hill and Smith Snowden who's coming over from Utah now in Michigan Jamari Sharp at Indiana as one of those taking over that role of big time corner for Indiana from d' Angelo Ponds Kelly Jones at Miss State Bakari Swing at South Carolina. Some that are coming back from injury like John Taz Williams who was really good at Iowa State and then missed a lot of last year is now USC and then you've got Xavier Scott who missed a lot of last season that Illinois was really good Illinois previous year but here's the group that I want to talk through and see if who is like on your give me maybe a top two of guys that are that played really well and had a lot of just big time you know statistics as well as BFF grades as freshmen. So first up Brandon Finney at Oregon.
C
All I can think of is Texas Tech because I remember watching that game. I remember him watching him come up and tackle. He had six tackles, I think. And I remember him getting two picks and a fumble recovery. He was responsible, I think for three turnovers in that game. Like. And he's a freshman, true freshman. You're like, how the heck. This guy is just all over the fricking field. But he literally already looked like a complete corner at the young age. I mean physical everything.
D
Only allowed 40% completion, 3 ints, 3 pass breakups. DJ Pickett at LSU. 65 upper 70s grade 52% completion, 3 ints.
C
Long. Like long. He doesn't look like a corner. He just doesn't look like a corner. And you think about Baker too. Another system that's going to play a lot of man to man heat you up. He. And he more than held his own, which was impressive to watch. Like he stood out as another guy again, that secondary had plenty of guys. Like you watched him. Delane get picked six, right? He's six to the chief or nine. One of the two.
D
Six.
C
Those are not good numbers to put together, by the way. But yeah, I think he was a guy that when he came in though different style than Lane. But you could see. I mean when it all comes together at that size, it's pretty freaky.
D
And you think about from a production standpoint, LSU maybe this year. Lane we know. What do we know about Lane more than anything outside of the fact that he does Vanity Fair. Now I don't definitely think of football coach interviews in Vanity Fair. That was a whole other.
C
That's on Brandon's the microphone.
D
But he's going to score points and teams going to be behind having to throw it more. That might be something where his pickup interception production goes up. Ty Redmond at Tennessee. Yeah man had is one of the. Is the highest returning in terms of cornerback grades outside of at least of these sophomore guys.
C
Cornerback room that they had that couldn't. That weren't healthy together with McCoy like, yep. If McCoy and then were. If they were all three healthy last year. Like, think about how much better that would have made that Tennessee defense.
D
Like, my gosh, Pastor Dave beat me to the next one. Dijon Lee from Bama 80 coverage grade 58% completion, five pass breakups, couple interceptions. But again another like really good. And you think about this. This is a position seemingly now where these highly recruited guys. All right, come in, play your side of the field. Go play man. We'll. We'll sort of evolve as it goes through. But for the most Part we're going to put you on the field and you're going to play Gillery, we already mentioned with Oklahoma, had 7 pass breakups but didn't have any ints. And another one. Yep. Baller Sean Lee. Another Lee. So Sean Lee at Pittsburgh. Yep. And then just some others who played a lot of snaps. Maybe didn't necessarily have the high end, either grades or production levels, but Demetrius Samuel at Syracuse, Grayson Little John at Texas. We saw in Game 1 against Ohio State last year was they were okay with.
C
They were okay with him covering Jeremiah Smith. Man to man. I didn't like his number though. Was he 29?
E
Yeah.
C
Yeah. I didn't look. He doesn't look that athletic with 29. It just some numbers.
D
Single digit.
C
Single digit make you look way more athletic. Even if you're fat and 350 pounds, it makes you look more athletic.
D
Devin Sanchez at Ohio State and then Jaden Sanders who's now at Notre Dame. Obviously Michigan a year ago. But think about that group and Samuel, like Chris Peel. Samuel plus Chris Peel, who's a Georgia transfer. They're gonna have one of the better cornerback tandems in the ACC at Syracuse this year. Who out of the. Give me two out of those where you're just like, okay, this guy's an all American type guy, end of the year type deal.
C
My first one right away is Cortland Guillory. I don't, I just, I, I think with that system, with the pressure, you know there's going to be pressure. It's easier to play corner when you can do that. Like, and that's why I'd go Brandon, Brandon Finney Jr. Second, because that defensive line is going to eat people's eat. They're going to eat people alive up front. They're going to absolutely ruin people up front with pass rush, stopping the run. Like he's going to make a bunch of plays off of that. The ball is going to come out quicker. Same with Bryce Pollock. Like he's not in that category. But I'll tell you what, Ellis Robinson though, the second half of the season last year, yes. First half of the season, not so much second half. First half of the season, you saw him get beat by Bama, you saw him get beat by Tennessee. Like he had some bad moments. But that dude also, if you go back and watch his high school tape or you watch the seven on Sevens versus Jeremiah Smith, like the body matches up. That's a big, good looking body. This is going to afford Georgia the ability to do a lot more because I'm going to depend on him. He had to grow up just like a lot of people have to grow up. Like you could see it as a freshman two years ago, as a redshirt freshman last year, like, it clicked. And this is why you go to get developed, right? You go to get developed by great coaches because they can, they can turn your rawness into, when you have those gifts into something great. And Ellis Robinson has a chance to be. But that class is silly, man. Like, that class is unbelievable. That's. That's. To have that many freshmen come in and just guys that you're pointing to going, holy cow, they can, they can shut down half the field. That's crazy.
D
When it, it also lends to where teams that can attack the middle of the field offensively, because you're seeing maybe some of these guys that are playing early and playing really well again on some of the better teams, the higher ranked teams and some of the better teams within these conferences, you got to be able to attack the middle of the field because there's some dudes on the outside. You think about Bama with Brown and Lee, all these others that we just, we just mentioned Michigan was Snowden and Hill. Oregon's gonna be like all tandems that are there. Notre Dame with more just because of his, his sort of gravitas in a way. But a lot of teams that are going to have one, two, even potentially three deep at corner, Georgia with Robinson, demelo Jones, another year. A lot of different cornerback tandems that are big time and going to be big time in college football this year.
C
Yeah. And is there a. Is there a more important defensive position anymore? Because I don't think there is. I mean, pass rusher, let's say I'm going to put a pass rusher up there. But here's the thing. You can negate a great pass rusher corner. You can't really take them out of the game, man. I mean, especially the ones like here. And here's where you talk about Leonard Moore in a different category. Leonard Moore is going to go shadow the best guy. Like, that's, that's different. Like, like Makai Lemon for usc, like, held him to less than half of his averages. And you just watch Leonard more like, yep, I'll go take that. And it's hard because if I move you inside to cover Lemon now, I need to receive her outside and the other side, there's a lot of communication that goes with that. It doesn't make it easy, but. But there's very few that can do that. But, but the problem is, yeah, there used to be ways when you can get, get us off that stuff, but man, you got great corners. It makes calling plays a lot easier. Like I, it just, it makes it very easy.
D
Okay, let's, let's follow up with a good question here. I'll give you the combo. Let's say Jaden Sanders is big time for, for Notre Dame this year after, after coming from Michigan and you got him more and more Sanders that are sort of locked down in two lockdown corners for Notre Dame. Would you rather have Reuben Ban and Akeem Mezador? Would you rather have two dominant edges or would you have rather have two big time corners? Pass rush versus coverage debate.
C
Yeah. And I think it also depends on how, like how big is the fall off at the other spot. Like, yeah, I can do a lot if I've got great pass. Here's the thing about Maine and Bezador. They're great pass rushers. They're elite pass rushers. They don't win right away every time. Like great corners win 90% of their reps fair. Yeah, like great pass rushers don't win 90% of their reps. That's where my brain would go. Like my brain would say I would take the corners. I'm going to manufacture some pass rush. I'll get some speed guys, I'll get some guys that I can put together. But man pressures, yes, stimulated pressures are awesome nowadays. Like there's so much to show. Picture Indiana stunted and moved. They didn't have an elite pass rusher. Like they were really good, don't get me wrong, like really good and good guys, but not elite across the front, but in the back end they were elite, especially the safety spots and what they were able to do. And then obviously my homeboy pawns draft ponds no matter what. So I mean, I might say, listen, give me one of each would be great. Like that's the great. That's the right answer. But exactly, I mean the past coverage, obviously.
D
So when you're, so when you're thinking about sort of, hey, who's going to be best defenses in this, in the sport this season? Are you going to look at. Okay, do you start? Because for example, Alabama is going to have one of the best secondaries in college football, yet pass rush has not necessarily been a thing for them over the past couple years. Do you look at that and be like, okay, I still think they're going to be one of the best defenses in the country and they'll find ways
C
to figure out pass rush, I think you find ways.
D
Pierre.
C
Pierre's been four, two came on. I mean, that dude athletically, that dude was a freak. Like, you watch Pierre throughout the season. He definitely figured it out. Like he was starting to. To come on. And I bet you they'll find some guys that will start to come on as well. I, I tend to think that, listen, if you've got great. If you've got a great secondary and you can do some good things up front and you're not like, it's just. It's so much easier to call plays when I have a great secondary. It's easy to call plays when I have a great box. Like, it's, it's, it's to be versatile and to be able to mix it up. That's what you've got to be able to do. Can Alabama do that? Like, I need to see. I know they like to play zone. They want to play zone, but I need you to play man too. I need you to be able to mix it up. Like, Indiana was pretty good at that, but what are they going to play? Majority zone. Like, they're great at zone. Their safeties were so such ball hawks and so great at breaking on the ball and they were just so elite like with zone coverage, so experienced. Like, I don't know the answer. I think Alabama is going to be good, but I don't expect them to be one of the best defenses in the country. That's not where I point to right away. I think they're going to be solid though.
D
Okay. It's fun debate past Rush.
C
Always fun.
D
Coverage.
C
Always fun. Yeah. And listen, I'm a pass rusher, but I think that there's more ways to negate those guys and guess what?
D
Admit such a thing.
C
Well, and if you win with pass rush, you can still get there quick and miss and, and make big plays. I got great calls out. I don't get. I don't get to give big plays in this. Like, I don't give up big plays in the secondary.
D
Well, and you think don't do it. A lot of football now, especially in those units much like or with say offensive line or secondary very much weak link systems where as long as you're at least solid everywhere, you're going to be for the most part. Okay. But if you have a massive hole in that armor that a coach is going to find, whether it's your slot corner or your left guard, whatever, that if you have a hole or a true weak link in one of those areas you're going to get attacked and coaches will find a way to attack that spot.
C
Yeah, defenses are learning, that's for sure. Gotten better. They're growing. All right, who won the weekend? I got you a good one. You go ahead and go first, though. I like this.
D
I got a lot.
C
Oh, you got a lot.
D
How about. How about four?
C
Okay.
D
Can I go very quickly? I'll go quickly through them, but we got a lot of winners.
C
You can do that. I'd love to see.
D
Great weekend because one. One of the winners. I think you might enjoy the conversation as it relates to. So first off, we've been talking a lot about, you know, former North Dakota Titan Kendall Wells and her chase for the home run record. Well, it, it got broken just by somebody else. Megan Grant at UCLA now is the single season NCAA softball home run record holder for now.
C
Do you know that that freak went to, went and played basketball this year as a walk on, on the basketball
D
team and played, played like just said for. And it's because senior year is like, I want to go play basketball.
C
What a freak. She played on that national championship team. Like, what an absolute freak show.
D
She has a brother named Cameron. It's spelled the same way, interestingly enough. Fun fact two, Wes Johnson, Georgia's baseball coach. Three straight 40 win seasons. First time in school history, they just swept LSU. First time in school history. Like the history of them playing LSU in baseball. First time they ever swept him in a series.
C
SEC championship since 2008.
D
Since 2008.
C
2008.
D
Georgia baseball. Rolling. Third one. This is the one that I think you're gonna like. Washington Wizards fans, you just won the number one pick in the draft.
C
It's a great draft.
D
Who are you taking?
C
Draft? Oh, I don't know. There's. There's like I probably would because he's got that just ability. I liked watching him in the tournament too, even though his team wasn't very good. I liked his competitive spirit. But like, there's, there's, there's a good chance that this draft's going to have four or five franchise players that are going to be ballers. So NBA playoffs, you liking them or.
D
No, I mean, the Knicks. Weird. The Hawks got the Knicks rolling. They woke the Knicks up and now the Knicks are killing every, you know, like six straight wins, I guess. Right. But I haven't really been dialed in as much.
C
No, I don't. I haven't. I haven't loved it. Like, there's not a, there's not a lot. Obviously the OKC Thunder Are crazy.
D
But I see a lot of clips of OKCs flopping in a way I don't like. I'm not a fan.
C
Yeah, NBA is not so Wimby got
D
thrown out last night.
C
Yeah, I mean, I, I, it was a big throw. It was a big wind up and throw.
D
Yeah.
C
That he threw, but.
D
All right, last winner.
C
Last. Yeah. Fourth winner. Go ahead.
D
Yes. And this is.
E
How many do you have?
D
This is the last one. It's the last one. And you'll like this one. This is football related.
C
Oh, thank God.
D
Whittingham and the University of Michigan. Did you see like with the Elon vs Altman case, it came out that they're in doubt. Michigan's endowment invested like $20 million in open AI and it's going to turn into like a couple billion or potentially.
C
I saw it was really, really good number. That is winning. That is a great one. I, I thoroughly enjoy that one. That, that's a, that's a good, really winning. That, that's winning for a long time at a high level. That's another Bryce Underwood in a couple years. Like I've got the cheddar to do it. Wes, did you have one? Omg.
E
Yeah, I just got one. Taylor Heinecke, my guy from Collins Hill.
C
Yeah.
E
Retired and he's riding off into the sunset. What a legend Taylor Heinecke was, dude. When he was a freshman in high school at Collins Hill. Never would have guessed that that kid would have started in the NFL, made the mark that he did. I mean, just one of those guys that had an improbable career and just kept proving everybody wrong. He won the Walter Payton Award for Old Dominion at the FCS level. I'm going to trivia you and Brent. Without looking it up. Can you name one current NFL player that has won the Walter Payton Award? I think FCS guys flew under the radar. Who?
C
Current player?
D
You said current. Brent's.
E
Brent Scott. Bryn Scott.
D
So, okay, was it Cooper Cup?
E
Cooper Cup's got one. Yep.
C
Bang bang.
E
So guys of that ilk, there's obviously
D
next lot of Steve McNair, but that was a long, that was a long time ago. Rest in peace.
E
Yeah. Yeah. McNair won Jimmy G1, but he just retired.
C
Tony Romo?
E
Nope.
C
Did he win one at Eastern Illinois?
E
No.
D
FCS guys.
C
Oh, yeah.
E
Brian.
D
Brian.
E
Finneran Finn. Yeah.
C
Villanova. Yep. Villanova, baby. Let's go.
E
Taylor Heinecke, man, congrats West.
C
Let's get Teller Heinecke on the show. Let's go interview Collins Hill's finest.
E
He's probably just playing a lot of golf. I think we can get him on.
D
Yeah, him or Travis Hunter.
C
Yeah, Travis.
E
Yeah. I think Travis has outdone Taylor in the. In the hall of Fame at Collins Hill. But a lot of respect for Heineken.
C
I've heard some. I've heard some Travis Hunter stories. I've heard some Travis Hunter stories back in the day about him. You know, whether you'd see him or not during the week, and then he'd be there on game days and just light it up, man. It's crazy. By the way, my. My one the weekend was James Harden came up big in a playoff game. Did see that. That doesn't happen very often. So congratulations to the beard. It doesn't. Doesn't happen often, but we will. We will take it. Hey, record short amount of time for a show. We try to keep them at 35 minutes to 45. We fail miserably most of the time. But do that rate, do that, like, do that subscribe stuff, man. We appreciate you guys Join us with C ball. Get ball and listen, it's around the corner, dude. Football is not far away. Fall camps are not fall away. Far away. Hopefully we don't have bad injury news coming up, but, man, your team's been set, been studied. We'll keep looking at the rosters. We keep coming up with fun stuff, and we'll see you guys Wednesday night.
D
Peace.

And Doug, there's nowhere I wouldn't go to help someone customize and save on car insurance with Liberty Mutual, even if it means sitting front row at a comedy show.
B
Hey, everyone. Check out this guy and his bird. What is this, your first date?
C
Oh, no.
A
We help people customize and save on car insurance with Liberty Mutual together. We're married. Me to a human, him to a bird.
