The national championship is here. And so a quick preview. We've given you previews, we've given you picks, but just a couple of things to think about. Some big headlines and some big things that we want to learn about Miami and Indiana tonight. Does Miami have a home field advantage like this could be enormous. This could be really, really big. Obviously huge for Miami if they can have the advantage in the crowd. I don't think they will. I've said that from the beginning. Like Indiana is all in, man. Like this is a magic carpet ride of a lifetime for them and it feels like they've been buying up tickets. The tickets on the market are absolutely outrageous. Go to game time if you need it. Game time app is the absolute best for all that stuff. But do they have a home field advantage? Can it impact the game? Can it help the game? We will go a big way in handling that. Who handles the moment the best? I think that'll be big time. When you've watched this playoff so far, like Indiana, Good lord. Like, very impressive. Like Ohio State, you saw in the Big Ten championship game like you saw some jitters. They came out the gate slow, but man, since that point it feels like they've got their confidence. It was 17 to nothing against Alabama and the Rose bowl and then against Oregon it was 35 to 7 at the half, at the half like those, they were over. Like we were doing this show as that game was still going on because the game was over and we knew it was over with Oregon. So those are pretty good teams. They've jumped out to great starts defensively especially, man, not only the shutout. They score on the first play against Oregon, shut out Bama in the first half, score against Oregon. So unbelievable job handling the moment. Miami, they got up 14 and nothing in Ohio State. They got up on Ole Miss early. Like, can you, can you use that momentum early? Can you handle the moment early? Can Miami force Indiana into mistakes? This is something that you don't want to like, you need to listen to this because it doesn't happen. Like Indiana is one of the best teams we've ever seen at not making mistakes. Like all year long. They haven't lost a fumble the whole season. Not one. They have not lost a fumble. Like they have 55 total penalties through 15 games. That's three point something a game. Like they, they have. Miami has. Miami has 105 penalties. They have over seven a game. Like back through, back through six ints in two games, their two losses. Mendoza's thrown seven all year. Like Mendoza's throne, six all year. Excuse me. So like literally equaled Beck's total in those two games. So can you force Indiana to, to making mistakes? Missed tackles, Indiana, missed tackles at one of the best. They're top five in the, in the power or top ten in the power four. Not missing tackles. Miami is one of the worst tackling teams in the country. They're the fifth worst in the country. Like, so can Miami force Indiana into uncharacteristic mistakes? It's a huge part of determining this football game. Like can they get them behind the sticks? Can they create a few turnovers? Because Miami just kind of plays about their schedule, they just kind of do them or Indiana. Excuse me. They just kind of do them. They just stay on script, stay in great yardage situations. Don't do anything bad. Don't lose games. They don't lose games and they make you lose them. So can they continue to do that? Can, can you pound and penetrate the impenetrable front seven of Indiana Indiana's been ungrate or they've been unbelievable all year long, man. Like whoever. They've played Oregon and Alabama first two games. 55. They've averaged giving up 55 rush yards per game. And they've gotten ahead. Yeah, which. Which very much helps and makes them pass and takes the run game out of it. But they've done that because of fast starts. This is where Miami lives. This is who, this is who Miami is. Like if Miami can't pound this front like they're done. They're. They're not going to drop back and throw the football. So Indiana has not been. Nobody's been able to do that to them. Can Miami do that? They're going to have to pound that front seven. They're going to have to get the run game going. Fletcher is going to have to be a huge part of this football game. He's going to have to like. It's not, it's not like if he doesn't, they can win another way. That's the way Miami is built. That's who they are. That's the way their coaches, their coaches and offensive linemen like got to love the way he talks. They love the way he leads. These guys, the size, the physicality. That's who they're built on. That's who they are. Can they impose their will against them? Lastly, this is my last one last thing I'm look really looking forward to before we get to the stats that we're going to kind of forecast about the game. Is Mendoza human? Is he human? Like, he's been unbelievable, man, like every single. It's not like, can you force him to play a bad quarter? Can you force him into one mistake or maybe two mistakes? 41 touchdowns, six interceptions. He's sixth on Indiana's career passing list. He's played one year. This is it. This is the only year, like best completion percentage, no ints in the playoff. Perfect in the red, like elite on third downs. He's 31 of 36 in the playoff against Oregon and Alabama, five incompletions. He's got eight touchdowns. Like, is he human? Like, is Mendoza. Is he going to blink at all? Is, is. Can Miami do anything to rattle him? I'm just, I'm looking forward to. Because obviously they got the best pass rush in the country. Most sacks they get in there, Bane and Mazador, if you missed it. We talked to Mazador the other day. He was fantastic. But again, these are, these are just dudes, man. I mean, these are dudes that, that's what they do. They rush the passer. They make people feel uncomfortable. Julian saying who was a great quarterback all year long, played one of his worst games. Right. Can they do that to Mendoza? Mendoza, he doesn't seem to look human. So, you know, those are, those are some keys to look forward to tonight and some things I'm really, really looking forward to. Brent, jump in here. Brent Rollins on 3 writes for PFF, does, does all the things he's really good at, what he does. He's always here. And we'll do live, we'll do the live recap again tonight and we'll come up this offseason with draft and all that stuff. But also Brett, like just talking about some stats, you know, some stats for predicting you feel confident in, you know, for the game. I think that game, that playing that game is a little different than playing the look ahead game and like what we're, you know, what we've seen so far through the season. But is there anything like you're like I I feel very confident in X or Y in the game tonight.
D
I really don't know that there's anything that I feel confident in in this game tonight. Honestly.
B
Nothing.
D
Well, because you've got two, just two teams that are probably the two most physical teams in college football. Like and when you have that, it's what's going to what can one team find that actually is maybe not necessarily easy but works for them consistently. And you'd mentioned the run game like Miami's, you know, over five a carry, you know, almost 200 yards a game, last four and Indiana's in the last three is not even giving up, you know, like 100 or like 87 a game. But the other thing is the refs. I you mentioned Indiana's lack of penalties. How much it's a big. I think It's a big 12 officiating crew. I saw how much does that impact the game early and especially with no Xavier Lucas in the first half from for Miami. So Surratt can Surrat go off because Lucas is the more physical the corners I think bigger, longer. Can Surratt go off in the first half while he's sitting because of the dumb targeting penalty.
B
Dumb is right. You are absolutely right. All right, so I'm gonna give you the first one the stat. Brent, jump in here with these. You can do the second one. We can just alternate and talk about it or see what you think. I feel 100% confident Mendoza will pass for more yards and have less turnovers than Carson Beck do you feel that confident about that? The yard I have, I have a body of work that I just, I believe in. And then the playoffs and the way he's been playing and leading, I just, I don't think Mendoza is going to make mistakes. I think he's, I, I think he's going to be the, I, I think he's going to be the more, I guess, efficient. I, I, I feel very confident saying he'll be, he'll be more efficient and he'll be the better quarterback in this game.
D
The yards part is the one where I would be like, I don't know, mainly because of how the score of the game and the, you know, what the game looks like, what does that dictate? Because if Miami's controlling the pace and they playing from ahead, then yes, I agree that he will have more yards. But look what Indiana's done in the past two weeks at least is they've controlled the game from the outset. Put teams behind the eight ball in a monster way and thus you have to pass the ball. So that's, that's one the, the question too for me with that is how much does Haynes, a defensive coordinator for Indiana, how much does he want to pressure Carson back? Like, I, I, I'm, I'm curious to see that game that sort of back and forth because Miami's offensive line is really good. He doesn't get pressured often. The ball is usually out quick. Does he maybe not blitz as much? Not because they're a heavy blitzing team. Does he maybe not do those things and just let him sort of dink and dunk?
B
Oregon's offensive line was pretty good in pass protection too, wasn't they?
D
Not a tackle. Like they were okay at tackle, like, but yes, Indiana got all the pressure.
B
Indiana, if you watch that game, Indiana was going for the jugular even late in that game. They were bringing blitzes like it was. I am here for that, by the way. Like you compete until the game's over with like I just, I thought they were very creative and they did not just back up and be like, hey, we're just going to drop back. Like we're gonna let you get some of these cheap yards. They were like, no, no, no, no, no. You're gonna earn everything you get. Indicator of like kind of Haynes and who he is and what they are. So look forward to seeing that.

B
Here's one that I feel very confident about. Here's Next on my list, Miami will rush for more yards than Bama and Oregon did combined. They will rush for more yards than Alabama and Oregon did combined against Indiana tonight.
D
Are you like box score type stuff? Where you're, you're including the sacks. Okay, Yeah, I agree with that.
B
I mean, they had, they had 110 yards total rushing. When you go for the, for the first two games in the playoffs, I think, I think Miami and who they are and what they are will commit to it. They'll do it. And I think they'll exceed that mark of rushing, which that's two games worth for Indiana. So that's, that's a pretty good clip. Like, to get over 100 is really good against this front.
D
The interesting question there was, will they get it in the first half? No, they get that in the first half. You don't think they get that in the first half.
B
That would be amazing if they did. If they did, then this game, if they do this game is exactly where they want it to be. Like, exactly where they want it to be. And that's where the, the contrasting styles for this is absolutely freaking amazing. Because the way Indiana stunts and stuff and if you get to move in against big old boys and they get their hands on you, they tend to move you really far, like. And so can you get your hands. Can Miami get hands on guys up front? Because here's how Indiana does it. Indiana does a great job of penetrating, like making people miss, swing and miss and get a tfl, like. And here's the thing, if you do that against Miami and get them behind the sticks, we've seen what happens. It's not a good. Like Miami's, they don't thrive there. They thrive in second and six, third and short. Like that's where they're going to be operate. And listen, most offenses are. But I would argue that Miami's just, it's glaring. It's a big contrast between third and third and seven to third and one because third and one for them is four downs, third and three for them. Four down territory. They'll run the football twice. So be it. So it's going to be critical to, to own the line of scrimmage. And I do think Miami will, will run for the more yards than Indiana's given up in the College Football Playoff.
D
Yes, I agree with that.
B
All right, you want me to do another one or you got one.
D
You want which team's gonna have and who's gonna have more turnovers and see.
B
If we go right back up to what I said, like, it has to be Miami, right? Like, if you're looking at history, if history is an indicator of who's going to have more turnovers, it's not debatable. But the question is, can Miami Co. Here's my biggest thing, can they stop the run? And I know we don't talk about Indiana's run, but Indiana's run is really good, man. Like it's not spl, it's not flashy, it's not sexy at all. Like, it is downhill. It is in your face. It is. But. But they've rushed for over 400 yards so far in this postseason. Like, it's not, it's not a guy that's going to, you know, make six people miss and take it to the house. It's literally like novocaine, man. Like it's just going to keep coming and keep coming and keep coming and at some point you look up and it's a 15 play drive. That's what's crazy about. They can wear you out with those 15 play drives with stupid efficiency. So if I'm going to say who's going to win the turnover battle, like, I have to use the history of this season and I have to say that, that Indiana is going to win the turnover battle because it's a lot.
D
Of these things where and when you asked me about confident in, it's because of the overwhelming advantage from a turnover, Mistakes, penalties, all these things that are typically unpredictable. Indiana's been predictably great at all these things.
B
So that's all time great.
D
Like, that's why it's like could this game flip? You completely flip that and you go the opposite side. All right, next one. Cooper versus Tony Omar, Cooper versus Malachi. Tony, who has the bigger impact, who has more yards, yards after the catch, all that, those two guys specifically playing out.
B
I'll take, I'll take 10. Give me 10. 10. 10 is number one in the nation at making people miss for a reason like he is. And listen, he was their guy week one against Notre Dame. Like if you watch this whole season, I know he was 17 at that point. We didn't make a Ryan Williams 17 thing reference for the whole season with him, thank God. But like literally that dude immediately grabbed this room. Immediately showed you that he can do it in a multitude of ways, man. Whether it's a short catch, whether it's a long catch, whether it's one handed, like he ain't just a little guy, whether it's blocking, like he is one of the most complete wide receivers in all of college football, like as a freshman. And I know that's, that's not what people want talked about before the season, but he has absolutely shown that and he is their go to guy. So curiosity for me tonight, that quick perimeter game, Indiana is really good at taking that away, too, because they tackle so well. It's a different beast now. That's a different animal to tackle. And I want to see the screen game y' all watch tonight when Malachi Toney drops and he kind of. He kind of drops a couple yards behind the line of scrimmage and they throw him the football. A lot of times that's a backward pass. The dude played quarterback. But most importantly, man, it creates space away from defenders, and he can make. You could play touch football in an elevator with Malachi Tony and lose. Like, all of you listening, literally, y' all could play touch football and you'd lose to that cat because he's that.
D
Quick, Especially some of us less athletic folks. Yeah, I think you.
B
I think you could get him in an elevator. Yes. That's about it. Good Lord.
D
So here's a. Here's a yes or no. Do we see a double pass for, like, some form of him throwing the ball? Does he have a throwing attempt tonight?
B
He a hundred percent has a throw. I don't know if that's. I don't. I don't do gambling, and we'll never do that here on this show because we don't believe in it. But I don't. I think that they would be stupid not to. Like, you got to break out the bag of tricks and use them against people. And. And I think Malachi Tony, I wouldn't be shocked if you haven't watched him. You won't be surprised if he gets it in the Wildcat. You won't be surprised if he gets a jet sweep. You won't be surprised if he passes the football like he is literally a Swiss army knife that can do a little bit of everything. And he's Miami's best offensive player, so he needs to touch the rock, and he will play a big part in whether they win or not.
D
Carson Beck scramble yards. We talked about how much he's had over the past couple games. Like, more so than really at any point in his career. Like, the best two games at Georgia are just barely more than what he had in these last two games at Miami. Does that continue, you think?
B
Yeah, I think Carson Beck has learned a very valuable lesson. When I don't hurt my team, I got a really good chance to win. And to me, to me, the thing that I love about Carson Beck is it's pump, pump. I'm look like he is looking, and he's trying to go through his Progression. It's not like I'm peeing my pants and I'm running.
E
Yeah.
B
Like, that's not what Carson Beck's doing. Carson beck is like, 1, 2, 3. Okay. It's not there. Okay. I got a really good offensive line. Like, really good offensive line. And I'm going to. So I'm just going to take off and try to make this more manageable. And in a big moment on third and 11, that was one of the best plays of the season for Miami. When he lowered his shoulder, like, the whole staff on the side was immediately jacked up and excited because. Because he. Because he was willing to put his body on the line. So, yes, Carson Beck, I think, is learning, and I think he's doing the right thing by going through his progressions and then like, all right, I'm not going to try to be somebody I'm not. I'm going to put my head down and go. Try to fall forward, not give up sacks. And that's why I don't think there'll be a lot of sacks in this game because. Because both of them are really good. Now I think about processes and getting through and. And making plays.
D
In terms of the game, has the couple days since, you know, we talked about it on Monday, talked about on Wednesday, has the weekend changed any mindset for you in terms of picking the game because you went Indiana, I think I forget what score you said, but has that changed at all?
B
No, it hasn't. I just. Again, like, it's just so hard to. It's so hard to look at these stats for Indiana and look at this run and just. And then look at that dude, like, the number one pick in the draft and go, man, I don't. I don't trust them. Like, I trust everything about them. Like, they tackle. We talked about penalties. We talked about turnovers. Like, they just don't do those things that make you go. They don't do those things that get you behind the sticks. They don't do those things that make you have to fret. Like, they've handled. I feel like they're playing their best football that they've played this year, too. Like, yes, they're on fire. I mean, they are. They're receiving core and the timing and the rhythm with their quarterback right now. It is. It is. It was at no point like this during the season. Like, he went. They absolutely got the nuclear codes, man. And they went nuclear. Like, they've gone NBA Jam, he's on fire. Like, seeing it, delivering it. So, no, but. But But I do think. I do think Miami's style, man, and who Miami is and what they are, I think it's more than just. It's more than just flash. I like the way they. I like the way they talk. I like the way they talk about each other. Like, this team is. Is very together. So I do. I do enjoy that. Hey, real quick, no smoke in the chat.
D
I was going to point that out. Good job, buddy.
B
I'm glad you were. No selling us on gambling. Instant subscribe. Good stuff. Appreciate that. That is a big point for us here, man. Like, we don't do gambling. We don't support it. We don't want people to do it because you're going to lose. Like, that's not what we're trying to help. We're not trying to get paid money, which we've been offered a lot of money to do it. We're not trying to get paid money for you to lose money. That's not really our thing. So we appreciate you saying that.
D
So, yeah, I do think last night. Did you watch the Bears Rams game last night?
B
I mean, Caleb Williams does it. Like, how does he do it every in all these big moments.
D
Like, it's crazy this year. But here's the key, though.
B
Yeah.
D
Chris and Chris Collins were talked about it how a lot of these. In these bigger games, it's not as much that the game is won. The game is often lost. And then the pick, the bad play in OT pick Rams go down and score. Stafford made a few plays, but that's what this game. I'm looking to see if there's a point in this game where somebody makes a play that more so is a you lose the game because of that play than going and winning it. Yeah.
B
And the guys that are going to be drafted really early on this Miami squad, Bane and Mezadore, like, they've. We got to hear their names. It can't be an Ole Miss situation. Like Ole Miss. We went a long stretch without hearing them. Like, we've got to hear from three and four. They've got to put their imprints on this game like they did Ohio State, man. Like, they put their imprints on that game and they made it really make. Make a difference. Thanks again, guys, for C ball. Get ball. The growth this year. What we've done this offseason will be more of the same. Coaches interviews, players breaking down the draft, all the different angles, all that stuff. We're not going anywhere. And we appreciate y' all continue to do all that stuff, man. That like rate subscribe stuff but we will see you dudes tonight. Brent will be hatless, freshly shaved, ready to rock. Yeah because. Because tonight matters, right? Right now. It's just a walkthrough right now baby. But it's a walkthrough right now. But tonight we'll see you after the games and we'll talk all things natty. See you dudes.
