B
And how about that Pollock interception in the end zone?
C
Well, it's David Pollock and I think people going to learn what kind of ball player is. He's got a heart of a line.
B
I'm real proud of that kid. This is C Ball. Get Ball. College football's top show for football analysis, predictions and coach interviews. Now here's your host, three time All American, seven time Emmy award winner.
C
What up everybody? Welcome in to, to see ball get ball again. This is the, the part of the week, every week, man, where we have a guest and we got Stanford. Steve and I got a couple of good questions for him. He came out with his top, top rankings. He's got some different ones than everybody else, which I, which I really, really like. Cause he's seen some teams up close and personal. So it'd be good to, to pick that big old brain, another bald guest. So Brent will be happy, joins the many others of bald guests. But, you know, the USA Today ran a, ran a report on, on Napier and did an article and it just, it talked about, like, basically, you know, it's, it's. It's obviously, it's obviously not good. And Billy fought his way, you know, back against the ropes last year. Like, it was kind of surprising. Like, I think everybody thought there was a good chance he could get fired a year ago, but they get nuclear. They get so hot. And so they win a bunch of games. Obviously they're super competitive. So I think you get, you get hope for the future. I think another big component of it was DJ Lagway. Like, having DJ Lagway and seeing the future and seeing like, this dude's a freshman. He got him here. Like, Napier got him here. He's his guy. He looks like he's going to go off next year and really take it to the next level. And I think that was a big reason why there was optimism. There was a big reason why, why Napier was there and, you know, other coaches, you know, now starting to get fired, get released. And again, a lot of this has to do with one thing. The longer you go, the less you can talk to other coaches and get in line for some of these coaches who you consider the best coaches. And so I think when you make this decision, you know, too, that when a coach leaves, man, there's a good chance all of your players can take off with the portal. And not all of them, but a lot of them. And so you don't want to make that change if you don't have to. And I think Florida wanted to fight it as much as possible. I think now with the chain reaction and everything that's going on, and now the boosters basically saying, I mean, paraphrasing, but if he loses another game, it's over. What's the chances of Florida winning the rest of their games? Slim to none. And slim just left the building like there's no chance, right? Like they're not going to run the table. They got Mississippi State, they got a buy. They got Georgia, they got at Kentucky. Listen, they could win those games at Ole Miss, then Tennessee and then fsu. Like, I, I, I don't think they're going to go obviously undefeated, but I think they could get a bunch of wins in there. And, and Strickland's the one who said a while ago when it came to coaching searches, like, if it's inevitable, then make the decision now. Right? Like, he was like, get this decision done now. And if you look at this decision, it sure seems like they're, they're running out of ways to keep him. And when the boosters and the money say we've kind of had enough, like, like Penn State, when the money component gets taken care of and you got that part, okay, I think you feel like you can move forward. And Billy Napier is a great dude. And I think the way, every, the way that everybody saw him handle that, everybody cheered for him this year, like, everybody was. If you watch any given Saturday to start the season and you see his personality and who he is and what he is, like, it made it easier when people are yelling like, blank you, Billy, and get out of here. And then all of a sudden they get, they get it hot and they go on a run. And he continued to handle himself with grace. So it will be very interesting. I don't think he'll make it through the season at Florida. I think the offense has been been frustrating enough for Florida fans, and I think Florida fans, you know, they got to continue to understand that they want to be great. Like they, and there's a difference between what Florida is and what Penn State is like. Penn State's consistently been winning, being close. Florida hadn't won and been close to anything. And I think Florida fans, like, they've seen glory days, they've seen great teams. They know what it takes. They've seen Urban Meyer, they've seen, seen Steve Spurrier. They've seen great players, man. Like, that is stuff that you absolutely want to see again, right? Like, Florida fans are starving to have that opportunity to get back to the deep end of the pool, man. Like, to swim with the big boys, to win big games, to consistently be talked about as one of the better programs in the country. Remember the state of Florida, man, there is so many great recruits, dude, there is so many great recruits. Like, you could throw a rock and hit a kid that runs 10, three. That runs four. Four. Like, great football, great speed, great athletic ability. So that, that, that program being where it's at, it's kind of hard to understand. Right. So I can understand why Florida fans are upset and that's, that's why I think it's only a matter of time before Napier. I don't think he's going to make it, man. As much as I love the dude, I don't think he's going to make it. But you know, if you look at Bears tweet, I think we have that west, don't we? We have Bears tweet that we can throw up. I think this is, this is important because this is the time of the year that, that we're going to be talking about this and schedules and this is the week where all the SEC on SEC crime is going to come in. And he's tweeted this out and talked about the scheduling and so SEC schedules in Bama. Bama has six, six ranked games on the rest of their schedule.
B
Six.
C
Am I getting that right, Wes? Six like six ranked teams left.
E
I'm trying, I'm trying to get your tweet up.
C
Yeah, but.
E
But it's tweeted six teams left on the schedule for Bama that are ranked Indiana, Ohio State and Oregon have four combined. So what are the implications of that for the cfp? Because that's what I think is the most interesting part of this. When you want to pit the SEC against the big tent.
C
Yeah, I mean the, the bottom line is it really doesn't matter. It really doesn't matter who the best team is. Like the record is going to be a part of this. Resume is going to be a part of this. A lot of people look immediately at losses. Like they're going to look at losses and that's going to matter. So I think the SEC is going to beat themselves up. It's going to be interesting where we land at the end of this. But there's. There's Felika's tweet. If anybody, anybody that's looking. I think it's. It's six total based on the current rankings that, that Alabama has. And listen, Alabama still has an SEC championship opportunity. But you look at the, you look at the Big Ten like, how is the committee going to handle Michigan? Like if Michigan has two losses, one is to Oklahoma, but Oklahoma has three losses, like that is going to be absolutely. You know, it's going to be very, very interesting. It's going to, it's going to take people off and you know, people are debating the SEC and the merits of the SEC and if they're better, like the SEC at the top, you got to admit The SEC at the top has kind of gone like this. Like, I think we can all admit that. Brent, you agree with that? Like, the SEC at the top, I think is going. Has gone down. The SEC at the bottom has kind of come up a little bit, and I think the middle has really, really come up. So I think it's like, I don't think we have those. I mean, we had some dominant teams for a long time that, like, you could hang your hat on Georgia and Alabama and we could go back to Florida, like back in the day when they were running the table like you had great teams. But now when we're debating the SEC versus the Big Ten, I think there's some validity when people talk about the sec does get a little bit of the benefit of the doubt, like I think they do. For example, I think Washington should be in the top 25.
D
I agree with that. And also, like, in terms of your first point, like the top being a little less.
C
Yeah.
D
And then everybody else at the bottom coming up.
B
Yeah.
D
Because you've got two really good programs that you've just added and the Nil and the transfer and you look at, you know, these rosters that Georgia and Alabama and the like, traditionally had those backups that are now starting at other places in the sec. And the Big Ten, not just the sec, has brought everybody kind of up and. But I do think that when you look at the Big Ten having the top and having the last two national champions.
C
Yeah.
D
Especially Ohio State right now.
C
Yeah.
D
They have the two or three best players. Like if, if you took one from.
C
An sec, Jeremiah Smith, one of them from an SEC team. Right. Like, there you go. It's a perfect example.
D
Like, if you take those guys out of there, like everybody, I think you even it out a lot. But yeah, it's. For me, the conference debate has always been kind of semi dumb in a way.
C
Okay. Because here's what I'll say to that, though.
D
Give reasoning in a second.
C
No, no, but here's what I'll say to that. Brent. I agree in the past, but now you're talking about home, home playoff games that are at stake now. So this is now a different animal because this is going to matter for seating because a home game obviously is a huge advantage a la a North team, a la a South team. Like, either way you want to go, it's going to be big time. So I think how they view the SEC in the Big Ten, it's. To me, it's bigger than just like, oh, it's. It's this conference, it doesn't really matter. No, it does matter because when we get into seedings and you start seeding these teams and you got to go on the road in a hostile environment in a, in a weather you're not, you're not used to, man, it's a big time disadvantage. Yeah.
D
And it's like just sort of back to the point of the debate itself. Like for the longest time for me, you had five or six teams that were kind of national championship or bust.
C
Yeah.
D
And then everything else mattered after that home away do you know, emotional game versus, you know, do you have injuries? All that sort of stuff mattered. And now that in coaching and now that matters more and more and more. But like you said with the team part of it. It's just the point that the leagues, both of them have kind of equaled out in a way. And, but the part for me is who can be beaten? Like I think the SEC is a, is a league now where a eight.

D
Seven of your eight games. Even eight of your A games. Eight games you can lose. Whereas Ohio State can and some of the others can not necessarily break a sweat in four of them. That's the difference.
C
Yeah, I think it's definitely, there's no debating the deeper. It's really just a matter of, of where you want to put the conference. But, but it is going to matter down the stretch. Speaking of conferences, how about the Big 12 West? This is, this is fantastic. Again, we're always here for the, the trolling. We are here for the comments. That's why we do podium kings coming up too. Like we, we love this kind of stuff. And what is, what is the Big 12 have to say about Brent Venables?
E
All right, so the Big 12's had a wild week and we spend all this time talking about the SEC, the Big Ten, how you know the Big Ten schedule sucks. SEC's the best. Well, the Big 12 is over here on the Internet, living big and having a great week. So Brent Venables had a comment early in the week about how playing in the SEC is a one possession league. This isn't the old Big 12 days where Oklahoma destroys everybody every single week except one game of the year. Big 12 Conference. The, like, the account.
B
The.
E
The main account tweets it and says coach Venables lost eight conference games in his two seasons in the Big 12. So that's where we started. That's how the week started. Okay.
C
So amazing. I love that so much. That's so. It's so petty and so stupid. That's why it makes absolutely so much sense.
E
All right, Well, I had Texas 12, Texas Tech as my winner of the weekend in Lubbock, and that scene was crazy with the tortillas. Well, what had happened was there's a couple fines that come out of that for both teams.
B
All right.
E
Lance Leopold, after the game claimed that someone threw a pocket knife from the stands and hit one of his staffers.
C
Oh, was he lying?
E
Apparently that was an inaccurate statement.
C
Live old. You can't do that like a pocket knife.
E
I don't know how you, how you mix up a tortilla for a pocket knife.
C
I mean, it's very similar, you know, like, yeah, you know, they're very, very. Those tortillas slaps. Does anybody do those slaps to start the. To start the game? That would be great if they just stared at each other, water and mouth like, all right, kickoff's coming. What pop? What pop? And then throw it. That would be great.
E
That's the new coin flip. All right, so not only was Kansas fined 25k for that inaccurate statement, which the Big 12 said disparaged a member institution and the conference. All right, that was so disrespectful. You got to pay up. Texas Tech was fine for throwing objects on the field, not pocket knives, but tortillas. And McGuire told him not to do it. I mean, he said, don't do it, but press. But 25 grand for them, too, which will pay for one rep of an offensive lineman in nil money. But look, pocket change. They might only get one team in the CFP, but the Big 12 is definitely windy winning the. The branding battle online. I mean, that. That was amazing.
C
No doubt. Speaking of the week, we got some. We got some Joey McGuire podium kings.
E
Yeah, we got a little overlap. We got a little overlap. Steve's in the chat, so we'll buzz through these really quick.
C
Yeah, that big fell up there. He can. He can react, too.
E
This is. This is before McGuire knew he was getting hit with that.
B
Fine.
E
Hey, one more thing. One more thing, just in case you're wondering. If you're a big guy that wants to sit in FERC class and you.
C
Play offense and defensive line, you should.
E
Come to Texas Tech. Thank y'.
C
All.
E
Hey, college football.
C
He's not wrong. He's not wrong because all he does is go, hey, Cody, you got my back, right? All right, we good, we good. We got this.
E
Cody Campbell's pen works. All right, a little context here. Sharon Moore, I think you said this to DP or Brent. One of y' all said that the USC Michigan game at the Coliseum would only be sold out because Michigan fans were coming.
C
Yes, I did.
E
Lincoln Riley had a little bit of a clapback for that after the dub.
B
We controlled the line of scrimmage and got it done here in front of a great sold out crowd at the Coliseum.
E
Yep. I like fans sold it out.
C
I love it. And by the way, you should mention that when you do sell out, because it doesn't happen very often. So that. That's a good thing for. For Lane and Company. Lincoln and company. Hey, Lincoln's got a lot of. They got a lot of momentum going, so I'm excited to watch USC if they can keep the momentum going. The recruiting class is through the roof. Like, this could be a big year for. For Lincoln in the future of usc.
E
He's just been sitting in the background waiting for a year like this. And then. Last one. Y' all know who the real podium king is?
B
You and Kirby, 2, most probably. Some of the more demonstrative coaches on the field. Who do you think burns more calories in a game? You, Ram? I don't know.
C
That's a good question.
B
I walked by the TV and saw.
C
His press conference today, so it looked.
B
Like he's burned too many calories.
E
I don't know how many he's burning. He was burning a lot dancing on that trainer's table after the Auburn win.
C
Oh, yeah. So great. So great. Lane, Stanford. Steve. Get in here, big fella. Like, is Lane not just a gift that keeps on giving? Don't you love having guys like that, Man?
B
I do. Lane picks his times, though, you know? Like, I don't. He can't do it, as you know. I don't put him in the upper tier of, like, Sound Bite hall of Fame.
C
Who's the upper tier? Who are we talking about? Upper Tier, then. Oh, man, are you going like Mike Leach, who was fantastic.
B
Yep.
C
Gundy was fantastic for a while.
B
Yep.
C
Spurrier has to be in the conversation.
B
Hall of Famer. Trying to think. Spurrier.
C
I caught you off guard with that one. My far, big fella.
B
No, it's all good. Harbaugh.
C
Harbaugh was good. Lou Holtz, you know, Lou Holtz was in the chat. We got Lou Holtz. Lou Holtz was a good one. I think his was more just the way he delivered it. It just had a little more pizzazz, you know, that was just a little bit different. All right, big fella. Stanford. Steve, coming to town, coming to our city right here in Athens.
B
What's up with the bye week? Do we like.
C
I know, man.
B
I want to see some ball on Friday night.
C
The bye week stinks. Bad timing. I know you wanted to see some ball. And. And I know you and. And I know you've been your iPad and been dialed in, but. But you were there last week, so congratulations to you, by the way. You get to go across the country to Oregon and then come all the way back to Athens. I don't know that it gets that. I don't know it gets really that much worse. Maybe go to Miami. But. But what about. What about watching Signetti in Indiana and how much were you just impressed with what you saw?
B
You've been there a ton, David, and I've been there a ton. I played there back when it first started becoming a place, and I've been there twice when it's been completely silent. Zach Ertz made a catch. I believe that was 2012 against Mariota. And Stanford stunned them. And then Saturday was. Was the other one. I mean, it's hard to get that place silent. And Indiana set the tone early. I was blown away at how well they took away what Oregon likes to do. Using your speed, your spacing, they just. They just manned up, man. Played some bumper ball up front. I was really impressed with Fiser in person. I didn't think he could run like that, but they got pros at each level. Ponds is a corner. I know his size isn't great, but the dude competes his ass off. Fisher is. Is fantastic. 46. The other linebacker is good. 21's really good. And then Kamara off the edge. 13 was good. Off the edge. They. They gave it. They gave it to Oregon. I thought they put Dante in some uncomfortable situations. And they.
C
He.
B
He looked. They looked. Oregon showed their youth, you know, and. And that's. That's hard to do to them. In their place. And I, I ranked Indiana 1. I love the resume. I love what they bring to the table. Surat on the edge. I mean that the, the confidence and then the ability to execute those constant back shoulder fades in, in big time situations.
C
Impossible to stop too.
B
Exactly. And then you compound that with what you have nightmares probably of and that's the quarterback RPO when he keeps it and no one in the stadium saw him keeping it and boy were they so timely. So just as put together a game plan as I've seen. I was able to, I talked to the kid Katic who was the center last year for Indiana Day and, and they went, I was at Columbus and they really struggled because they were going silent count and then you know, they had to ID the defense and then they were going to go silent cow and then. But Knowles kept mixing up the look and then they kept moving Caleb Downs. They got caught with false starts, they got caught with bad pressures, they got caught in slide protection and, and they really struggle with that. So to see this group get that much more buttoned up be on the same page, I mean a couple false starts, yeah but, but they weren't cataclysm. You know, they didn't, they didn't add on where, where they really were affected. So I mean as good as good a game plan on both sides of the ball and, and going in there and taking, taking the crowd out early and being a factor. You know, the pick six got him back but they answered every call and they did it with a vengeance. So I love Hemby, the running back from Maryland stud. And they got all the pieces, man. They, they really do.
C
See and here's the thing. Stanford Steve in the chat, my man DC says Indiana resume, question mark. Like that's what we get because you're not used to Indiana. Remember they took the belt to the bottom of Illinois. Like belt like your daddy who's six seven and you're six got beat down and then they just went to one of the toughest atmospheres in college football. A consensus top three team in the country and beat them. So like I get it. I know the uniforms don't do it for you. Two things about your comments, Stanford Steve, because I love you so much. One, you could tell you're a tape nerd when you just start throwing out numbers because you watch too much tape and it's just the numbers, too many.
B
Names now man, with this portal I can't. It is.
C
I love that. And two, the only other time that you missed severely on that, it Was really, really quiet. Was when Oregon and Stanford played there and. And Mario Cristobal ran the football late in the game and they fumbled and then Stanford came back to win. Brent's kids actually were with me on that trip, and that was as quiet as I have ever heard. And they were like, what just happened? But obviously, you know, a big loss for Oregon. I'm going to be interested to see, you know, how they rebound. But speaking of, you said you, you said you played there. Like people don't realize Stanford Steve stands for Stanford. Steve, like he played at Stanford. I, I want your best Stanford story. I want your best who you were with.
B
I'll give you one.
F
That.
B
I'll give you one real quick. Speaking of Austin, that gives me nightmares. I'll. Back in the day, I was the wedge setter, and we went up there and Achilles smith put up 63. So I set the wedge 10 times that day. And boy, let me tell you, by the fifth or sixth, you're praying that ball's going over your head and it's a touchback, man.
E
Hey.
C
And this is what, this is when people were psycho. This is when people were psycho. This is when we were in team meetings. I bet you it was like this for you. I remember you sat there and you were like, oh, and you watched the wedge buster run down. And all these guys who were wedgebusters back in the day, they can't put full sentences together. Like, there's no way. Because they were psychotic.
B
I mean, two of the best ever. I went against Pat Tillman and then, oh, and then one of the all time. Steve Gleason. Steve Gleason gave me my lunch. I mean, my lunch. Coming down with his Ram man pads on and neck roll. It was. I'll never, never forget those. I mean, I had the old. I mean, before we had the harnesses, I just had like a plaster of Paris with a pad underneath it. And then they had the sticky tape on that on my left. Oh, man. Still have tor.
C
All y' all watching. Y' all get to see that greatness of Stanford Steve in the uniform. Hey, I got a quick story for you. At Georgia, Arnold Harrison and Jeremy Thomas, they get in a fight on kickoff and kickoff return. And I'll never forget, like. And they were, they were swearing back and forth and they were going at it and. And both of them were like, all right, mother blanker. Next rep. Next rep. Let me tell you something. I've never heard a collision like this in my life. It was kickoff, kickoff return. Those suckers ran Full speed from about 50 out. Like, they didn't wait to catch full speed. And it was like two cars. Nobody blinked. And it went, helmet flying, ear pads coming out. It was absolutely incredible. It was stupid. I wouldn't have done. Especially Jeremy Thomas. You hit Jeremy Thomas. He had no neck. He had no. I mean, dude was. Dude was sold off, like hitting a tree stump, man. But like, that was the loudest collision I've ever heard in my life. It was amazing. All right, well, that's a good. That's a good. That's a good story. That wedge story is never, never fun. But. All right, so you answered the best team in the country. Yeah, so. And we got your rankings. I bet you get a lot of people pissed off at you. Like, wait a minute, Steve, Steve, how is Ohio State not in the top? Like, how's Ohio State? Not one or two. The way they're dominating everybody.
B
I, I really. I thought Indiana was more impressive against Illinois. I know they got to play them at home. I still want to see Ohio State's offense unleash they have the best player in the sport in Jeremiah Smith. They. They went to him, you know, in timely manner. They've taken care of business. I'm not, I'm not saying they're not capable of winning a national championship. They. They got to be the favorite right now. But the wow factor of seeing Indiana in person in that building along with the Illinois win, the convincing ways they've won, the totality of, of defense they play with, you know, Ohio State. I'm still not the, like the pass rush, it's not elite. The speed is when they get three back and, and eight is, is. May might be the biggest breakout star. I mean, he's a man. He's a man child. So. And, and the O line is they got some MF are in them, which is good. We haven't seen that.
C
They're way better than last year. Way better.
B
Last year they had to piece everything together. Kind of like what Georgia is trying to do now. Like, I still don't know. We'll get to them. I don't know what I mean. I just saw the injury report. All the big boys are probable, so we're going to see, you know, where we put earnest in 73 and 71.
C
Hey, what you just mentioned though, Steve, I haven't heard anybody talk about. And I've had the same thoughts. We just haven't gone as in depth about Ohio State. I think Ohio State is really good at pass rush when they get in their nickel and they get in passing situations when they go eight and nine, seven on the edge. But when they're not, like, that's when you've seen there's more time to throw the football. Like, yes, that, that is a, that is a deal that will. Because, because here's what I'm going to do. When you play better offenses that can pass and run first down, passing will become correct. More of an issue. So I, I agree. No, nobody's really talked about that yet. But they're good when they get their guys on the edges that are, that are studs.
B
Yeah. And 92's played really well. He had the monster game at Washington. I mean, Washington, who I think very highly of, I like Jed's system. I think the quarterback's going to be a star.
C
They should be ranked.
B
They had, they definitely should be. You know, I think they ran 53 plays against Ohio State and there was nine negatives, so that percentage is pretty good. But listen, I, I, I'm dying to see it. We might get that matchup twice, you know, with Indiana and Ohio State. Miami is right there also. I mean, I love the, what they bring to the table. The, the issue with them. I shouldn't say issue. The answers I still want to see to the test are in the secondary. You know, the last time we really saw him tested was the second half, I guess the fourth quarter of Florida State. But I got to go all the way back to the second half against Notre Dame. That's, that's Sunday night of Labor Day weekend, where the last time they've been.
C
Tested so they gave up some plays.
B
You know, like Friday night, we're going to see it because Brahma, you know, Brahms past game, screen game, all that stuff's going to be on point. So I want, I want you to.
C
Talk to everybody here because you got, you got Indiana one, you got Miami two, you've got Ohio State three. I think four is where you differ from a lot of people. Texas Tech, like, you got the Red Raiders that high. Why?
B
Minimal pressure, minimal guys, you got, I mean, that defense is dominant. And when you get pressure with four, I mean, I would love Bailey when he was at Stanford and what he brings to the table. And those front four is, they mean business, you know. Ten, the linebacker inside, Rodriguez, oh, he's, he's just a ball hawk. And I, I, I think they're better with Hammond at quarterback, the run threat with those, I mean, Dickie can absolutely go. And we have, I mean, their receivers, they paid plenty for. We know that they haven't even had to go to them. They. They've controlled the game. Control they've had is astounding. To go to Utah, speaking of tough places to play and just put it on them. Like, like, turn it over, get it back. Turn it over, get it back. All right, you're done. It's our time. I really, really like this team. I'm hoping we get this goes to Lubbock. I was there for the Crabtree catch. The greatest night in the history of Lubbock, and it'd be awesome to go back there. But the game control and just the butt whoopings that they have put on teams and I, I think that the Utah winter is going to look a lot better. I like Utah this week in the holy war against byu. So I think it's only going to get better. I, I don't see any holes. And, and, and they're right there, man. They, they are as solid as a team and they were my most intriguing team going into the season. Right. We. All we heard about was the money spent and then you met. You start putting. All right, we'll take this one. We'll take this one. We'll take this guy. And you got to put it all together and it's got to work. It has worked seamlessly. And like I said, to go on the road that early to Salt Lake City and just dominate. I mean, that game, that second half was both sides of the ball, so.
C
Backup quarterback, no problem. I think Texas Tech is officially the only team that hasn't trailed this season.
B
They are.
C
I think, I think they're the only ones. So that's about game control. Just, Just dominating. All right. I know you're. I know you're dialed in, watching the tape like Georgia Ole Miss. You take it wherever you want, big fella.
B
All right. Do we know. Does Georgia know the game is at 3:30 this week?
C
I think Kirby told him it was. It was at 2:45.
B
I mean, good Lord. I was at Tennessee 21 7. That's as loud a building I've been in, in years. It was rocking. But. And then Alabama 14 nothing. 217 last week, 10 nothing. On the verge of almost being 16.
C
Had him right where they wanted it.
B
Yeah, exactly. I'm like, this can't be fun, man. 20 yards offense about to go down. 16 nothing. But I will say, and I've said it after going to Tennessee, I said it on, on Scott and I's pod that night. Only a Kirby smart team, only a Kirby smart coach team wins that game. Only a Kirby smart coach team wins last week. And. And it was. It's different though. David, like being on the sidelines in Knoxville and him, I mean, he's as amped up as the gets, and that's why I absolutely love him. But he. He. That wasn't him in Knoxville. He was going to the sideline and like, super calm, grabbing the iPad, showing them like, hey, you know, we're gonna run those split zone crossers. This is what we got to do. And the spacing helped out. And slowly but surely they stopped the run against Tennessee and they made it their game. And it was their game in the second half. And then last week, you look at them change the. Change the front in the second half where, where you're. You're not, you know, crashing and replacing and all this stuff. You know, we're going to play. We're going to play football. And that slowed Jackson Arnold down. I thought it showed. It slowed Auburn down. And you know that they're not consistent in the past game, so they played right in their. Their keys. So I can't wait to see what the. I mean, it's like I said, all guys are healthy on the offensive line. Where to set, I would imagine 73 goes to right tackle. I mean, he played guard against Tennessee and then he couldn't go anymore.
C
That, that dude. That dude can be. He's an absolute freak show because you don't even. You got. You look up in the program and you go, 6, 7, 3, 60. Yeah, like he's a freshman.
B
Like, yeah.
C
Lord have mercy. That person make him like, yeah, okay. And that's great. Like, and that's awesome. The offensive line. But. But what about the quarterback? Because we, We. We have differing opinions on that. You're watching him. What do you think about his game? Is he good enough to win big games for Georgia like the rest of the season?
B
Absolutely.
C
Oh, you. You love him.
B
Yeah, that. That. That drive to clinch the game last week was as textbook as it get. It's kind of like what. What Alabama did to y' all in. In. In Athens that night, that Ty Simpson drive where they, you know, ran the offset and, and, you know, off the. Off the. The bunches going the other way to the running back. But that drive, Bobo.
G

B
I thought was so good with how they mixed it up.
C
No, no, you can't say that. You can't say Bobo was.
B
I'll say it.
C
No, no, no, no. Bobo's terrible. Bubble's awful. Every Georgia fan. Bobo sucks. He's. He does not know you. You cannot get you. How dare you give Bobo compliments that you're. You're horrible. You're terrible at your job.
B
I, I love. I love the approach. I really do. Now everyone is going to pick apart things, but knowing what you have to do if you pop or the ability to not have to give them the ball back. And, you know, I think Kirby said, you know, gunner shouldn't have scored on that run. But, I mean, the third down call where they use Branch as the decoy and they throw to 16 like that, that's some tough stuff to defend, man. I mean, you saw two guys run with Branch. The ability to run the football. That's what I think. I thought Frazier, you saw him going back to the old Tiki Barber with the arm up.
C
I like seeing that tuck that puppy.
B
Yeah, exactly. Because he, He's. He's so good and elusive and strong. So I, I really like what I've seen. Like I said, it's just the starts of these games. I mean, they come out, boom, Throw the fade ball, first play to Colby at Tennessee. I'm like, oh, boy, this is going to be fun all day today. And, you know, they. They come back and take Haymack, Haymaker after haymaker. The Alabama game, I. I get going for the fourth down call, but I. I kicked the field goal there to tie the game. Just because I don't know what's going to happen. And I've done my work and I've dominated the second half. I thought you should have tied the game. With that being said, if 73 just leans on, was it 22, you know.
C
Touches him, he really just kind of.
B
Like walks in the end, steps down.
C
And just goes like this.
B
So you talk about Ole Miss.
C
Is Ole Miss gonna play in this game or are they just gonna get curb stomped over here?
B
I'm getting there.
C
Okay.
B
I still wonder about them up front. Listen, they're not nearly as good as they were last year. They'll be the first person to tell you that. I mean, they had some dudes on that D line and they gave Georgia, you Know, a dose last year in Oxford, you know, I watched the tape of that was on the same time as I was at Oregon. So I go back, watch the tape, and I'm watching Trinidad, and he's not the. He's not the problem. But they can't score. They got stopped on downs. He missed it. He missed a throw. They miss a field goal. They're going up and down the field on wazoo, but they couldn't get the ball in the end zone. So then I went back and watched the. The live feet and stitches on there and Stin and. Oh, man, who's he do the games with? Zarzer, they're talking. They keep showing Simmons and they're like, is this. Are they going to go to him? Boom. Trinidad reels off 12 straight completions, you know, gets the scramble in the third quarter, gets the big time throw to start, you know, in the middle of the fourth quarter, and. And they get out of there alive. I wonder about the tackles against the. The versatility that Georgia could bring from the edge. You start mixing guys with 33. I thought Zero played his butt off in the second half against Auburn. I think Georgia could do some damage there. This is. This is not an elite offensive line. And. And obviously Trinidad provides tougher problems because of his mobility as opposed to Simmons. Who's. Who, just his pinpoint passer. Their skill guys are good, the running backs very elusive. But it's. It's not like Georgia hasn't seen a team like this. I. I love the idea last week.
C
Yeah, like, Ole Miss is very. Ole Miss is comparable to George. It's comparable to Auburn. Like, now they don't have the weapons, and I would say they have better quarterback play. But I'm interested to. To. To see Chambliss. Like, I'm just telling you what I would do. Georgia doesn't rush the passer. Great. What I would do is make sure that I understand, listen, if I'm not going to get a pass rush, I'm going to get my hands on guys, and I'm just going to get my hands up because I saw him a couple of weeks. I saw him last week live. I was at Ole miss, and he's 510 in heels. Yeah, I mean, he's not big and he is. He is skinny. Like, he is not a thick dude. So I'm trying to put bodies on him. And I know this is going to sound very weird or very, like, unsportsmanlike, but I got news for you guys. Like, I'm trying. I'm not trying to hurt the other team literally, but like, I'm trying to land on them very hard. Like, every time Trinidad carries the football, I'm going to put my full body weight on him. Like, I want him to feel every single lick so it wears his hiney out. Like, so he is taxed and the body is hurting late in the game. But I think that's a. I think that's a big. I'll be. I'll be curious to see how they can handle the running qb, because obviously it's given Georgia fits in the past and. And trim it at Trinidad. It can do it, man.
E
He is.
C
Got that little wiggle. They designed that stuff for him. It's. It's really good, but. All right, let's get off Georgia Ole Miss, because it's clear you have Georgia. All right, let's go to Notre Dame, usc, those two teams. Yeah, like this.
D
This. This is a.
C
This is a good one. This is a uni game. A great uni game too, by the way.
B
Yes, it is. And the issue is that Notre Dame plays on that fake grass now. I mean, just the idea of South Bend being on field turf, I just.
C
You don't like that?
B
No.
C
Can't get. Can't get with it.
B
Terrible. All right, now, I mean, we playing there and they had the grass, you know, 2ft high. That meant you knew you. You knew. You knew you were in South Bend then you did. This game, I believe, means the most on the slate this Saturday because this is Notre Dame's last chance. They could hope and pray that Pitt's gonna be having number next to them when they go to that. When they go play there. But this is the game you got. I had it there. Here. SC is 2 and 10 on the road since 23. That's the worst in FBS. The struggles last year. One score game.
C
That's not good.
B
But that offense with Lincoln, I thought Ledge was great. On the call last week talking about how Lincoln, a lot of the work was done in Norman when he got the job, right? The foundation, the discipline.
C
Yeah.
B
Still there with Stoops. And when he got the sc, every door was open and he had to close those and build a foundation from the start. And you. You see that when you play Michigan, you got to deal with a lot of crap, man. You got to deal with guys jabbing at the ball at the end of plays, hits towards the out of bounds, constant, you know, just messing around. Just stuff they do to try and get in your head. And SC answered that and kept punching Back. I mean they were on the verge of going up 17 nothing early in that game. If the tight end doesn't fumble what he got, he got drilled. Oh God. And 85 is better than 87 for SC. I don't care what anyone says. That young dude could play.
C
They use the seams with those tight ends really well, man.
B
And I'll tell you what else is great. And when, you know, when Lincoln's in his bag, when the inside screen game, the creativity he uses to get the ball to Lane and Lemon, who I would put up there, George is up there, their receivers I absolutely love SC's up there with Lane and Lemon. Lemon is just a, I mean tough to bring down. Just a lot of stuff in his game.
C
Get your hands on that sucker.
B
He's so good man. It's, it's tough and then they throw it inside screen. I'm bummed. Waymo it got hurt. Running back, he's been an awesome story. I just love an old school juco guy that takes that route. We don't get those guys anymore and he's, he got tightrope so he's going to be out. But then they get a freshman walk on come in and I, I've been a lot of places I haven't seen a walk on like that. So, so that tells me Lincoln's got it cooking. I can't wait for this matchup because of those receivers I just talked about against the Notre Dame secondary like Leonard Moore. 15 for Notre Dame is one of my favorite players in the country. He, he's so, I mean true sophomore in, in playing, playing that high level of a ball.
C
And you're going to put him man to man on these guys and trust him. And you think he can win those battles?
B
I, I think he could in, in times. And that's the thing I've been waiting for Notre Dame to go back to is, you know, I mean think about last year when they made this run. It was man up, we got, we got our, we're taking our guys against your guys and Ash has changed up that a lot and, and it, it got him exposed against Miami and, and Texas A M. So it's still in flux. I thought that the defense would be at a higher level. They haven't really played anybody. But this, this feels like a show out game for Notre Dame. They have to show out. You know, people are, that's probably the loudest fan base at me now because I don't have them in the top 15. I'm like, you got to Beat somebody. I can't put you in because you don't do it for you by four points. I can't. You gotta, you gotta win it. You gotta win, win some of these games. So when I look at Notre Dame, they got it all. Jeremiah Love is unbelievable. 24 is, is, is mean a runner. And C.J. carr, I mean the last four games averaging over 300 yards, dude could play. And I think it says a lot about, you know, Coach Freeman and like this is, this is how you're gonna do it. And he kept saying to the end of camp like this was a battle with him and the Minchi kid. And I think that tells you like, hey, you need, you need to be at this level to be in order to succeed for me. And you know what I'm saying, like, you know, not holding them down but say like you're going to be accountable. And the transfers they've got in the receiver room, that's the best upgrade to a unit I've seen in the country. I mean they were throwing a lacrosse players last year and they went to the national championship. No offense, I love lacrosse, my nephews play it. But not, not a college football receivers. So I, I wonder what d' Anton Lynn could do against this offense. It's not a vintage Notre Dame offensive line. They're solid and, and, and SC does a good job of wreaking havoc. Gentry's like 6, 10 it feels like with that arm span he's been playing for seven years. And then Ramsey on the back end, he's the quarterback. And when they went to Illinois, they didn't have him and they didn't know they were going to have him because he supposedly got food poisoning the morning of the game. So now you got your quarterback back. I think it's a high scoring game. But SC has to play well in this instance too. If they don't, it's going to be back to square one where it's like same old SC on the road, can't pull through in a big game.
C
If they compete though, if they compete, I think you give them more, you give more grace. But if they get like last two years it's 48 and 49 points. Yeah, like with the Heisman Trophy winner, they've got to do better, like they've got to be better defensively. And Marcus Freeman would tell you sas, that's what he would tell you about his squad. We still ain't she. Because that's what he says, that's what he had on their sleeves, which I think is Is found is absolutely great. And the way he hold, the way he talks to them is so cool and unique. All right, like, you were at. You were at Stanford. Were you there with. With Eldrick. Tiger Woods? Were you there at the same time as him?
B
So on my visit, we go to the Friday night dinner. I think it's Friday. Yeah, Friday night dinner. And, you know, you get your table assignments, right? So I'm. I'm at table one. Like, Coach Willingham, the head coach, is there. My brother came with me on my visit.
C
You're kind of a big deal if you're a table one, right? Like, you're, you're.
B
Yeah. And I, I, I, whatever. 17, 18 years old. I don't read into that anything. I thought it was alphabetical for what I knew. And, and so, you know, you get your position coaches there, and Mose Rising, who recruited me, is at the table. So there's a seat open, and Coach one of them starts talking and I'm like, what? Why? I'm looking at other tables like it's packed to the gills. Like, you know, other guys got their whole families there and. And this and that. And then all of a sudden, side door opens and Tiger MF and woods walks in and sits in the seat open right next to me. And I'm like, oh, my God. Like, what do I even say to Tiger?
C
What did you say?
B
I. So here's what happened. He sits down, he like punches me on my knee. And he looks at me, he's like, hey, man, sorry. My roommate was just. My roommates were just building a computer. I had to see it. And I'm like, oh, hell no. I'm not gonna make it here if dudes are building computers. I got no chance. No chance.
C
I'm a lead head bro. So how great was he at this point? He had a couple masters.
B
Like, no, no, no, no, no, no. He's. He. He's just about to announce he's going pro.
C
Oh, okay. So he wasn't even Tiger to the superstar level.
B
Oh. So I got there. I'll never forget it, my friend. Before my first practice at Stanford, we're in the training room and he announced he's going. But everybody knew because he was on campus the whole time. And, like, the way dudes talked, like football players talking about a golfer, I was like, this dude's gonna be. And then that next April he wins the Masters. So it was. I remember.
C
And you're like, I let him sit at my table.
B
Yeah, no, no. And. And so the next morning, I Remember, you know, you could go see the facility and go. I remember saying, can I speak to the academic advisor? Because I really didn't know if I could do it. I'm from little town in Connecticut, David, like, our. Our public school. I'm like, I honestly have to know if I could. If I could go to school here. And Verity Powell, she got me. She got me through, and I. I still thank her every time I. I see her because it was. It was the best decision I ever made. And. And. And it doesn't happen unless it's that weekend and all that, so. Yeah, tiger.
C
Thank God for tutors, yo. Thank God for tutors, baby. Last question, man, and I'll let you get out of here. What's the shirt of the week this week? What. What. What do we. What are we rocking this week?
B
So we got a little surprise. So last week on My picks, Kent State was a favorite in an FBS game for the first time in, like, years, bro.
C
They walked ace, dude, 40.
B
Yeah. So they won. So they reached out, and obviously Coach Saban went there.
C
Yeah.
B
So their head coach reached out. I was like, hey. He's like, thanks for picking us, you know, but not a lot of believers. I'm like, coach, I. I've seen a little UMass. You got to be better than them. And they. They. They whooped up on them. So we got some Kent State Golden Flashes gear on the set for Saturday in Athens.
C
Did you. Did you share some with Coach Saban? Did you?
B
Oh, they said some. Oh, yeah. I'll have something.
E
Okay.
B
We might. We might, you know, don't tell. Maybe. We might surprise. Might surprise him on the set.
C
Okay. I would say, man, we're gonna ruin it, but he's not gonna look. He's not looking at podcasts or social media. He doesn't know how to work that. All right, big fella. Man, a. Best of luck coming to Athens, obviously, this week, and keep doing your thing, man. Always fun to watch you. What's. What's the record this season, by the way?
B
We're over 500 by one or two again. Yeah.
C
Last year, you were like. You were like, 15 over 500.
B
Yeah. We had two. One and two weeks back to back here, so we got to get back on track. We. We gotta dial in. I. You know what I need. Need some Chuck's fish in me Thursday night.
C
Oh, go get it. Go get it, brother. All right, well, best of luck, man. Thank you so much. We appreciate you, big homie.
B
You the man. Tell the family I send my best.
C
Will do, Brother Peace this is the.
