All right, we'll get it to you people. Find people a little bit later on. This is a beautiful, beautiful thing about doing live podcast. We got some people in the chat already. Appreciate it already. The Canes are well represented. You should be. So we might as well start with something that affects the Miami Hurricanes. College football has made some tweaks to their college football playoff format. I think it's, I think it's interesting. I think this conversation needs to happen every single year, right? Like we need to know or we need to make subtle changes every year. For example, last year we talked about it. What do we talk about? We talked about the, the four conference champions getting buys. It was a stupid rule, right? Like we didn't need to do that. Like the highest ranked champions at a conference didn't need, did need to have buys. We fixed that. I think it's great. It's very interesting because the dynamic for the 12 team playoff is everyone wants to expand. Hold on, let's rephrase this. The SEC in the Big Ten, the only one who gets votes. So everyone else are like me and you just kind of sitting in the corner like, hey, I got an idea. Yeah, shut up. Sit down and shut up. Because that's kind of the way it works. So the, so the Big Ten with Tony Petiti, he, he, he has an idea of what he wants to go to. Greg Sankey has an idea. If he wants to go to Greg Sankey, he wants to go to the 16 team model so we can debate the semantics and all the if, ands or buts about the system. The Big Ten commissioner said, I'll do that. If you commit to after three years, we'll go to a 2014 playoff. So I don't know how all y' all feel about this, but I know the SEC wants a few more to 16. The Big Ten wants 24. I don't know how we settle this in the end, at some point, they're gonna have to, you know, get in a room and. And figure this thing out. But it's so much like everything else. But here's what we have for next season. So, automatic bids to each Power 4 champ, regardless of ranking. So that would have changed things this year. How would that have changed things? If you look at it, Duke's in, right? So if Duke won the acc, which they did, remember that game against Virginia, they would have been in. Into the College Football Playoff. Would have been a nice day for them. Would have been a nice payday for Duke. Might be in a different situation that we'll talk about in a little bit. It might have helped him out. So that would have changed that. Because obviously, you know, you look at, that's an auto bid for a Power 14 Notre Dame. Good to be the Irishman. Good to be the Irish. It's nice to be the Irish when. When you're guaranteed to get a bid when you're in the top 12 of the final, final polls. Just guaranteed. That's interesting to me. Do I like that? I don't know. And I say that because what if they're tied with a team that they played or, excuse me, what if they're right next to a team that they played and head to head comes into place? Obviously, the committee could fix that. But let's be honest. We don't always get the committee, you know, doing what we want them to do. And so, you know, so. So those are a few tweaks that. That are changed now with the playoff. The system will be in place next year. So in that scenario, Duke would have been in over James Madison, which I think everybody's on board with, but Notre Dame would have been in over Miami. And I don't know that anybody's on board with, especially with what Miami just did like. And I think, again, we would have had that head to head in the. In the close ranking. So is that something that we. We get fixed? Do I care about this? Yes. Here's another reason why I care. Well, first of all, it'll avoid what we just avoided it now. We'll avoid another group of five team getting in it, which should never happen. We should never have that at all. We shouldn't have one. We should not have one group of Five team. So we dang sure shouldn't have two in this thing. So I have very much have a problem with that. And that to me is something that we've got to continue to work out, we've got to continue to look at. But I think it's interesting, man, everybody's in favor of expanding, but they can't figure out what number they want to expand to. And so that'll be an interesting thing to monitor, to maintain and to see what goes on in the future. Because the more things stay the same, the more they change, right? Like they'll, they'll continue to change and we'll continue to tweak. Like I said, we've tweaked them in the past and we're going to continue to tweak and we should. All right. Mensah is a big story, Is a huge story. And Mensa at Duke signed a huge lucrative deal with Duke a year ago. Signed a two year deal. This dude's for real now. Like he is for real, for real. And he's a really good football player. So the quarterback market has absolutely settled, right? Like you saw all of these guys start to pick a destination when we, we talked about Sorsby to Texas Tec and we talked about Levitt going to, to lsu and the list goes on and on, all the way down. Well, Miami was busy, busy doing something else. Miami was busy trying to win a championship and they were doing a really good job of it and came really, really close. And Miami's now kind of left with like, where, where do we go at the quarterback spot? They were in the mix obviously for it, but they didn't get a guy. And so this is absolutely nuts. How do you spend your playoff money? If I'm Miami, I'm glad I got it. Like, they got 4 million for making the field. And remember, Brent's told you this ACC rules, you get to keep the money. 4 million for making the field, 4 million for a quarterfinal, 6 million for a semifinal, and 6 million for a title game. Miami made an extra $20 million on ACC schools like Duke. So now, first of all, Miami's proven what they want. Miami is no longer in the high school recruiting business. Like, they're not getting their quarterback. They're not going to get an 18 year old and be like, hey man, you're a five star, you're a stud. Like, we're going to groom you, we're going to recruit you. No. Miami's like, screw that. Like, they paid Cam Ward 1.5 a couple years ago and ended up being the number one pick. That's a steal, like nowadays. Absolute steal. Carson Beck in the neighborhood the next year of $4 million. The next guy, Mensah, who to me is very interesting because I think he's kind of a combination of the two. He's got a little Cam Ward playmaking ability to him, but obviously can throw the absolute football and make some plays like Carson did. Obviously. I think he's an awesome fit for exactly what. What they, what they make themselves in this offense. I think it'll allow them to be a little bit more dynamic. They'll still have the physicality, but you look at Mensa and what they're paying. So here's why Duke is willing to do this. Duke made this deal because Duke got paid. So Miami paid Duke and Mensa didn't want to be there. So I guess they figure, hey, we're going to get the money back. We can go do what we want with it. So who that cares? And then they pay Mensa, so, you know, they were going to pay Mensa more. So we're looking at over $10 million for Mensah slash Miami to make this come to fruition. So, I mean, it's, it's a nice, it's a nice world to live in if you're a quarterback. Like, you want to be a quarterback in this world, man. Like the, the. The terms of the settlement not, not released yet. Cooper Barkrate is, is coming with him, his wide receiver from, From Duke. When I look at Mensa and I look at this fit, obviously Shannon Dawson showed you a lot of something. You got Malachi Tony to throw to, which is exactly what you want. Like, you want a superstar, you want a stud, you got him. I think that this is. When I look at, you know, Brent jump in here on this because, because, because I remember we talked about Mensa all last year. Like, we talked about him even coming over from Tulane and how great he was to me, you know, and you're the numbers guy, so. So Brent, if you don't know, works for on 3, works for PFF, knows the numbers inside and out, watches all this stuff more than you do, I promise. But when you look at Mensa, I like him and I. My comparison for Mensa is he gives me a little C.J. stroud vibes. He gives me a little ball is out. I can read it, I can throw it plenty of arm. I've got enough ability to make plays, but I don't live in that world. I'm not the. I'm not the scrambling dude that like I'm not Cam Ward. You know I'm not going to make plays over and over but can play within structure but that dude's numbers and what he's done and I mean he put up some stick sick numbers for Duke I mean and did just fine even though his defense kept giving up points ad nauseam.
