How pros get more done. Are all batteries the same? That's like asking if all soccer players are the same. Take Messi, the most decorated player ever. Is there any other player who has achieved that? No, just him. Now take Duracell. Is there any other battery with powerboost ingredients inside? No, just Duracell. Remember, goats only trust goats because they're built different. And Messi only trusts Duracell.

Commercial Announcer
Here we are.
Sean
Day seven.
JW
Made it.
Sean
Day seven. Recap. You are here. Congratulations. JW is here. Techie Sean is here. Mike is there.
Mike
I'm here.
Sean
I'm back in the US Enjoying sunshine still. Yeah. I don't know man. Like, you're missing out though, a little bit. I completely agree. You're missing out because it's a nice like you're there. You're back into like kind of the. The Charlotte thing. I. I still get to wake up here in this home, but I found an Airbnb. I wake up a little coffee, a little studying, get to hangers garden. We go out. There is an English garden. I go back and I play catch with the kids every morning and we do the game. 21, undefeated. You know what that is when you, when you like throw. Hit him in the body. Face throws or two points and you add them up.
JW
I haven't done it.
Sean
It's pretty great. I gotta be honest. Like, I don't. You're not able to kind of have this normal experience at most tournaments. So it's. I just selfishly, it's pretty great. I'm happy. I'm happy for you, Mike. This is. That's great for you. I'm. But I'm.
JW
I'm.
Sean
I'm pretty good. I'm JW.
Mike
You're 21. Yeah. Mike doesn't have to wake up at 1 in the morning to watch World cup. But otherwise it's all right. I think I might rally.
Sean
It's one now.
Mike
I think I might rally really well.
Commercial Announcer
Oh yeah.
Mike
All right.
Sean
You know, once every four.
Mike
Once every four years I'm going to try.
Sean
My strategy is the opposite cuz I know England plays at 1am local time. So I know that if I sleep with the window open, which you. Which I have been. Because it's nice that I'm going to get some.
Mike
Go.
Sean
Oh, go on, England.
Mike
Put it. Do your hair. Let's go. 130.
Sean
Yeah. Oh, go on, Ari.
Mike
There we go. Brace, brace. We learned something. There we go.
Sean
A little brace. Go on, my son. They were sent us.
Mike
Good day, right?
Sean
Did you watch the Mochizuki? That guy's really entertaining.
Mike
I love that guy.
Sean
I thought it was fantastic. Favorite player, kind of. I mean they used to land in the balls like bouncing high and away. I ain't gonna do many favors but like this was fun. He played great.
Mike
I love the guy who's maybe 5, 9, whatever they list him at 5, 8, 5, 9.
Sean
He's not posting anymore.
Mike
Made for grass.
Sean
Not made for rebounding.
Mike
Yeah, right. You're posting up Mochizuki and. But he's fun, he moves well. He's great hands. I want to see what this guy can do on other surfaces. That was. That was good value for a straight set win.
Sean
Phenomenal. I thought. I thought it was good. Sinner did enough. All good. Strufy.
Mike
Strufy.
Sean
Hubie Hercock had to retire in the fifth set. It looked there was something not right. Like it's one of those ones where you see him and he was kind of trying to play. He was kind of limping around through it for. I mean I'm going between all the matches and. But it looked like a Good half hour, 45 minutes. I mean, but props to him.
Mike
It's true.
Sean
It's great. Is it too early for the SAT of the day, Mike, or can I bang it out now? I think let's go for it. Let's bring up ServiceNow stat of the day. The number 36. Bueller. Bueller, anyone? Is it. Is that Struf's age? It is Struf's age. And why is it important? He is the oldest man in the Open era to make his first Grand Slam quarterfinal.
Mike
Nice.
Sean
36 years old, first time quarterfinalist. In a slam. Props.
Mike
Good. Good.
Sean
Very cool. Was down two sets. So let's give some credit because I know the. The storyline is gonna be like QB retires. So therefore, you know, we try to suck credit away from Stru Flake. He didn't do it. He was down two sets. One, two sets. You know, something about staying on the court long enough. Weird shit happens like, I. I don't know. So credit to him. Good termer for Hubie. You watch him play on grass. The 96 doesn't make sense next to his name. Great win over, over. Over Tommy Paul Novak. Safuelan.
Mike
What'd you think? You called that, right?
Sean
Yeah, I did safely play great in the first set. Novak was scratchy, played well in the second set, the third set, he kind of.
Mike
That was. That was. I'm down a break and let's.
Sean
Just not really. Well, kind of. I mean, he got like, chippy. Everything seemed like settled and he kind of got into it. He said in his post match, like, I. The tantrums, I probably went overboard. He got broken. And Seulen kind of buzzed the tower on one, but it was a clean play. It wasn't as if he was. I mean, it was up break point. So he wasn't trying to like, do anything to the his own detriment there, but like kind of buzzed the tower. I don't think Nova was that upset about that. I think he was more upset about maybe hitting an average volley, but fired a ball across the court to the backstop, like all the way through. I mean, it was. There weren't any ball kids around. It was the back again. But like, I had visions of that U.S. open when he fired one against the backstop. And it was maybe like if we had a weird angle in the bunker, but maybe two feet, and then it would have brought in the camera guys also that are above the court. I mean, it was just for a minute. I was like. It came up as wreck and I was like, oh, gosh. Yeah, like, this call is about to change a lot this tournament. Just like. I mean, it's hard to make sense out of it.
Mike
I. I'm thinking A AI is his friend because we have fewer people on the court. You know, we. Fewer targets now.
Sean
That's a great point.
Mike
What do you. Go ahead, play. Play dime store psychologist, as we sometimes tend to do.
Sean
I can't. I mean, we. We talked about it on air today, and it was, you know, Fowler was just like, you know, he just kind of, you know, everything can be going right and then Something goes wrong and he harbors. And I'm like, I, I just. We kind of talked through an air. But he plays the best when he has a chip he's chasing. He's the hunter, he's defending. He's. And I mean, you've been around him a million times. You've, you know, been with him on his home turf. You've spent, you know, long interviews and you've traveled to him and you. I don't. It feels like if the chip and the energy isn't there, he can find co created.
Mike
Single. Generated.
Sean
Single person in a crowd of 23,000 people who. He doesn't like what they're saying. And he can use that. He can basically like use anyone as a tractor beam to find the energy that he needs to kind of play off of, you know, and it's a weird thing because he's now in the, the phase of his career where everyone is paying and the totally earned and deserved appreciation tax. Like, how can you not.
Mike
Right.
Sean
It's tougher to find that negative energy. Right? Like, it's a tougher thing to find. I mean, I don't know. You've spent more time with him than I have.
Mike
I just don't. I'll tell you one thing really funny. He has this documentary coming out, it's being directed by Jason Hare, who also did Last Dance. And I'm thinking this whole trope of Michael Jordan saying I found motivation from not, you know, it was a day of the week that ended in a Y. And that made me angry.
Sean
And I took that personally.
Mike
Yeah, I took that. That's what it was.
Sean
Yeah, I took that personally.
Mike
He gets to do the same thing with Novak, but I just don't. I mean he. There's so much to like about Novak. We could devote a whole show to his virtues and what we find admirable, these lapses, you know, you've already had the worst experience of your career. Slapping a ball against a backstop in
Sean
anger and hitting a gentleman.
Mike
The impulse control you would think at age 39 would be there, but he won in four sets. And here we are now, by the way, am I right now, now he's the all time winningest male at Wimbledon, having surpassed in our Federer most match
Sean
wins ever, who I believe will be here tomorrow. Side.
Mike
Yeah.
Sean
Martina Navratilova, 120 on the women's side. Yeah, it's just like I've. I don't know that I've ever seen an athlete that can kind of smooth sailing. You know, I was too Insecure. So all I wanted to do was not rock the boat in any way. Like, if things were going well, I'm like, just stay the course, stay the course, stay the course, stay the course. I don't know. Maybe, like, if I had more confidence. These peaks and valleys, I mean, he's traditionally been able to get out of them, you know, so maybe that is part of it. Like, I couldn't have done it because I'd be like, this slips and I might not be able to get it back. Like, I mean, he's. You know, I have to think he's pretty sure he can get it back. He's done it a million times. But then at some point early in the fourth set, fights off a couple of break points in the first game, which is like, scary time, right? It wasn't. Not. It was pretty warm out today. And then he kind of withdraws again, but in a different way. He goes silent, goes focused. He's able to kind of like, dial it up, dial it back, sometimes to his own detriment. I mean, that. The. The hitting of the ball today. I mean, when that left his racket, he had to have been like, oh, God. Like, you know, immediately off the racket, he's like, it was just. It wasn't thought out. It wasn't know. It's just. He just lost it. And I've lost it a million times, and if I had been kicked out of a tournament, I probably would lose it in a different way.
Mike
There. There is an irony there. He's so good at navigating the emotional currents of a match.
Sean
Yes.
Mike
And then he has these lapses where you're like, dude, what are you thinking? Anyway, he's still in the tournament and he's.
Sean
I mean, quarterfinal again. I mean, would you. It's 66. I mean, I don't even know. I don't know how to. I don't know how to digest his. His career. Like, he's. 106 matches here, 103 matches there, all at Slams. Like, if you. It's. It's beyond, like, actually comprehending. And yet he'll show these little moments of being flawed also, which is like. It's just. It's. It's so strange to watch it up close. But, I mean, the appreciation is there. I mean, obviously you can play on grass. I mean, FAA wins. And I want to get into the back and forth with. With him and Davidovich F. Because that was a little weird. And faa. I don't know that I've ever seen him Takes a lot for him to get upset.
Mike
Exactly right.
Sean
He's one of the more even keel guys. You don't feel like he's one who like lashes out. He was pretty forthright and pissed in his press conference. And I, I, my opinion is that it was rightfully so.
Mike
He was pissed then. I mean, even at the net, at the handshake, he was still. So why don't you do what those of us toggling between matches. This happened on the four set.
Sean
Okay. So FA Davidovich was, he had this thing, something going on with his ankle. The replays, maybe he's carrying something in. I didn't see tape, but like the replays didn't. Like normally if someone's ankle, the replay goes, shows turn right? And you see it wasn't quite there off and on. And when it hurt, it was like rolling around in pain and agony. And then when it didn't, it seemed like everything was totally fine. Right? So. And then FAA, serving out the match in the fourth set at 54 hadn't been broken in this tournament yet, by the way. And Davidovich Fakina wins a point to go up 1540 on FAA serve. So middle of the game goes down again. Ankle like he went down. I'm going, he might never walk again in his life, given his. It was a lot. Yeah, it was a lot, you know, and you don't know what someone feels. Then he goes and gets treatment for maybe three minutes. Like goes and gets a full on. FA is in the middle of a
Mike
service game for the match.
Sean
For the match. 15:40 comes back out and we were in the green room. I go, watch him double fold here. This is ridiculous. Like, watch him double fall here. This is, this is insane. Sure as double. And then Davidovich F was fine. He remembered to limp a little bit in between points, but then it was like even further. If you do that and you cause this, like, even if you're actually like really, really, really hurt, which, you know, we, we, we just don't know. It was a miraculous recovery. But even if you are and you've completely ice someone in the most insane way and you win the set, there's still like a guilt mechanism a little bit, right? He's throwing two hands up to the crowd, like doing the, doing the ear. I'm going, oh my gosh. I go, I would, I would have, you know, whatever you think about how it went down, you know, they're going to digest a lot of. I would have lost it if I was faa. I would have completely. There's no chance. I wouldn't have said something. And to his credit, he did not.
Mike
Right?
Sean
He did not. And I was, I was like, that's. He's the nicest person I've ever known. So, fast forward, FAA Winston, 5, cruises up, doesn't say anything. Gives them, like, gives him a. A hard handshake. Kind of pumps him with the, you know, at the net, but not nothing, like, horrible. Doesn't. And it looked like Davidovich Faquina wanted to, like, have a conversation. Felix pumped him, kind of gave him a little like, like, handshake shiver. Not like a shoulder shiver, but handshake. And then. And then walked on. And then he turns around, like, obviously something was said to him.
Mike
Right?
Sean
I mean, there's no chance that David Shakina can be pissed at FAA about anything he did. He could not have been. Listen, ankle hurts, miraculous recovery. Let's say that's a possibility. There's still no chance that he can be mad. FAA did exactly zero wrong in this scenario. Zero. And then to chirp at him when his back is turned and he's about to go celebrate a win. That's not cool is bullshit.
Mike
Right? You have these friends who are hotheads, and then they calm down the next day and they apologize. You have these other friends where you're like, man, if you piss them off, you know you're in the wrong.
Sean
Listen, I don't know what was said. I just know. FAA goes into his press conference afterwards, and I'm, I'm like a, I, I, I want Davidovich. I wanted him to win a title I like. I think he adds values, you colorful and I. You know, he's fun to watch. He's very fun to watch. FAA goes in, they ask him about it. He goes, he knows how I feel. He knows my opinion. If he wants to talk about it, he can. And then he kind of diverted to the rule of basically saying that, like, you can't ice someone in their own service game. You can choose to, like, give away their service game to get treatment.
Mike
Yeah, that's what I thought. You.
Sean
If someone gets hurt, they. Basically, his point was, if someone, your opponent gets hurt and you're serving, they should definitely be able to take the time they want if they're hurt, but not to the detriment of the server, which I think is a rational take. And he, he said basically, like, just keep the clock on them. Like, if they're down in pain on the court, just keep the clock on them. Keep it running. I think that's a little much. I think the receiver should have the option to punt away their return game.
Mike
It's when. When your opponent's serving from the match. Moot point. This all sounds very, totally moot point. Sounds world cuppy, doesn't it? Where you're not sure if the injuries are legit and the clock's running. I give Felix, though, a lot of credit, given the occasion, given the emotion, the expectation of winning, to reset and cruise out. And he cruised in the fifth set. I give him a lot of credit for that.
Sean
I would have lost my mind. I would have completely melted down. That was. I thought it was beyond the pale. I. It was. I. I thought it was very average, you know. It was not very average. Naomi Osaka.
Mike
Yeah, that. That was not average at all.
Sean
Didn't get broken. How's this? You ready for some stat?
Mike
Just 87. Damn.
Sean
No.
Mike
All right, what do you got? What do you got?
Sean
1. The. The tiebreak streak for Saba Lincoln slams is over 21.
Mike
Good.
Sean
She had won 21 straight breakers lost the second set. Osaka did not get broken in the match. You ready for. This is a great one. First top 10 win.
Mike
I came loaded. First top 10 win off of hardcourts. Right.
Sean
Ever. That's crazy. One in 13 ever.
Mike
That's crazy.
Sean
First time ever in the second week of Wimbledon. Like, she has like a strange. There was a point where she won seven titles and four from her majors.
Mike
Yeah.
Sean
There was a time where she had made it past the round of 16 of her major.
Mike
I think it's now.
Sean
No, no, no. It finally is different because she lost in the semis of the US Open last year. But like she. There was a time before the US Open last year where she had made it past the round 16 of a major four times and one of each time and she had won four times. Like it's a no.
Mike
But I think more than half her title. Is that right?
Sean
Yeah.
Mike
Sean, help us out. More than half her titles. It's like something.
Sean
She has seven career titles.
Mike
She also.
Sean
Seven careers, so four of them are majors.
Mike
So the first time she got beyond. She got to the second week in Roland Garros. And then she did the same thing here. She was so good today, and I feel so good. 87, by the way, I think was her first serve percentage one. But yours is better. But I thought. Didn't you think she had one set where she was just full flight? I mean, this was like peak of her powers. And then she's another fight where she just out battled the single best tiebreak player in majors in recent memory. This was like a perfect day for her.
Sean
She was fantastic. Start to finish. Her post match interview was the best interview I've ever seen her give. She was light and it was fun and you could tell how happy she was. And she was. She wasn't trying to contain emotion. She was giving it. It was fantastic. I thought it was an unbelievable performance. I think she played the best this week out of anyone.
Mike
Yeah.
Sean
In the women's draw.
Mike
Yep.
Sean
Start to finish. You know, obviously the tournament resets. You don't get credit for last week. It changes all the time. It's. It's this like shape shifting thing where you're allowed. You know, from where I'm sitting, I'm like, I should be allowed to watch three matches and then I should be able to like, adjust based on.
Mike
Yeah, right.
Sean
Based on recency. But anyway, she has Mukova, who beat Krichikova, So we're now gonna have the 10, 10th different woman champ in the last 10 additions of Wimbledon on the
Mike
women's side that I asked Jess Pegula, who we'll get to in a second. I'm sure about that. And you know, like, best of three is part of this equation. Grass is part of this equation. It's a really good field. And that match, by the way, that Muhava Krajikova match, I'm not sure I enjoyed a week one match more. That was such fun. I kind of had making tennis.
Sean
It was the exact same time I was on the Novak call.
Mike
Oh, my God. Talk to me about just highlight reel stuff is such a fun too. They knew each other's game, but there wasn't this kind of. I mean, it was a good balance of. There wasn't friction, but they knew each other well. The highlight, real shots. I mean, move is so much fun. Yeah. And she also, she has a bit of an issue closing. She was up 5 2. She won a set and was up 5 2. Got away from her. And then she was able to reset. It was just that I actually saw the Krajikova camp after the match and they were like, we're good. Like, would rather have won than lost. But fun, well played match. Like, shake her hand and we're all. We're all good. That was. That was really entertaining tennis on court too. Gosh.
Sean
I've, like, felt.
Mike
I know, but that's the thing about these results, right?
Sean
I mean, so much fun. Pugula over Jovic. She was great. There was a breakfast for the first hour of that match.
Mike
Yeah.
Sean
There's a Lot of. There's a lot of. Everyone's getting broken humor going back and forth on the, on the, on the foreshot.
Mike
We're all breaking now. Pula has now won 19 of her last 20 matches against fellow Americans.
Sean
That's an. Okay, so why do you hate an insane stat? But because think about, there were. There was a different US Woman, and there was a US Woman in every grand semifinal last year. Like, it's not as if. It's not as if it's like. Right, because. And this is. No, I mean, they're all my, like, friends. But, you know, Chris McKenzie was like, what about you when you played your Americans? I'm like, yeah, they weren't all winning Slams. And they go, did. She goes, did you like playing Americans? And I said, yeah, I like playing American. She's like, oh. I go, yeah. No American was named Federer, like I, I or Murray. Like, yeah, yeah, I like playing. They probably like playing me more than the other options as well. But that's a, that's an insane stat, her dominance over Americans, considering how good the American. The American women are and have been. So I, you know, she's. I mean, you can fact check me here, but I'm assuming she's never been the top seed left in a major before.
Mike
Oh, that's a good point. Yeah. She won 1, 2, 3 going out. She's so great to talk to. We were talking about Ayala.
Sean
She's just cool.
Mike
You know, she has a huge Asian fan base. I noticed, and I asked her about it, and she's like, you know. Yeah. And some of it is, you know, her mother was born in Seoul in South Korea, but she said also, for whatever reason, she's a success in China, and she's this huge Chinese fan. I wish I remembered the name. They gave her a nickname that was like, big Rich Girl. This all comes from her. So I'm not speaking to Clap. And they said, no, no, no, it's a compliment. A compliment. Emma Navarro's little rich girl.
Sean
This is what she told.
Mike
And she's like, she has this Chinese fan base that follows her around. Yeah, right. Oh, very good dafu.
Sean
Yeah.
Mike
And she's like, that's not a nice thing to say to someone. No, no, no, it's a compliment.
Sean
We love you. We love you.
Mike
So she has, you know, it's not aolicized, but we were joking that Jess Pula has a huge aging contingent of fans as well. So, anyway, on she goes, she looks. She looks great. And this is, like, this wasn't her Best tennis. But she managed to get it done.
Sean
And I think I heard not to kind of project forward too far. She would be the oldest first time slam winner in women's history also. I think, I think I heard that too.
Mike
I think that's.
Sean
Yeah, yeah, I'm, I'm like, man, look at you.
Mike
You're tennis an epic.
Sean
I'm calling you 70% of the time. I'm right 100% of the time.
Mike
Name that movie. Sean.
Sean
Sean.
Mike
Anchorman. Anchorman. Anchorman.
Sean
Sean was born in 2007. Coco played her best match by far. Like she, she looked, I thought she looked very average through her first three rounds. I'm a big Coco fan. I mean the, the, the old choppy magoo in the middle of the court and then defend wasn't going to work against Ben. She hit the ball better than she had. She volleyed like a wizard in the third set tonight. Stab volleys a bunch of off the shoe tops. And big moments too. Like this was she kind of took that little forehand and instead of kind of just struggling and white knuckling at home, she was kind of doing this like a little half pinch swing up the line, this little kind of knockdown shot and coming in. I like that as an option for her moving forward. I still like Jess in that matchup just because the head to head has been good. Grass I think is good for Jess's game. But credit to Coco. Cause I thought Ben and she was. But I thought benches was going to be a real problem on grass. Their ability to hit pace to the forehand side. But I thought Coco looked great.
Mike
She, she won twice. She beat two opponents. Did you catch?
Sean
Did you see the little TikTok at the end? Oh, wow, that was great. So, yeah, go ahead.
Mike
No, no, you do it. Come on.
Sean
The context. 11pm Curfew, Coco up against it.
Mike
They don't mess around. They literally are like, you got one game girly.
Sean
Like the ref was gave her the old one and then that, you know, that whole situation. So she got through and the conversation was like, how aware is Coco of it? She closes it out. She points to her like wristwatch, she goes, there you go. That's it. It was your last game.
Mike
You don't have to come back at 5 all tomorrow. I closed it out. She was great. And I also thought, you know, more than half of her matches this year have gone three sets. So it's as though she's just, you know, she bakes that in and she lost the first set. All right, time to reset. And you know, she's going three.
Sean
It's like a.
Mike
Exactly.
Sean
It's like a human rain delay. No, I like that.
Mike
I got nervous. She wasn't playing Jess, but you're right.
Sean
Yeah.
Mike
So we got.
Sean
No, she's playing Jess. Yeah, she's playing Jess.
Mike
They have a roof that threw me.
Sean
Yeah. Anyways.
Mike
All right.
Sean
Anything else? Producer Mike? No, no, that's all we got. Good start to our redraws, boys. We did better. Better than our first. Just breaking news. If you heard that off four times out with a calf injury, he is. He is day to day. He is hoping to be back two days from now.
Mike
I'm just faking. You were serving for the. You were serving for the match and now I've gotten treatment and I'm back
