What's up chuckers Techie Sean Here I am, back for another episode of your Served five Setter, the weekly roundup of all things racket sports. Five stories in ten minutes or less. We really appreciate the love and support. That said, Today is Friday, July 31, 2026 and here's what we've got for you. Hewitt 2.0 in Washington Ayala Mania reaches D.C. draper's Masters 1000 return is set. The Joker is playing a tournament he hasn't played in years and is Alcaraz ready for action? But first we start in Memphis, where a scary scene took place during the first round of the WTA250. Top seed Ekaterina Alexandrova, the world number 19, was locked in a three hour first round match with 16 year old qualifier Kristina Liotova. Temperatures at the Leftwich tennis center hit 93 degrees Fahrenheit, which is roughly 34 degrees Celsius. Down 54 in the third and just 2 points away from defeat, Alexandrova got a time violation because she simply could not get herself to the service line. Then midpoint she collapsed. A lengthy medical treatment followed. She was able to stand, but she could not continue and she was wheeled off the court. The forecast for the rest of the Memphis tournament doesn't seem to cool down too much with temperatures looking to return to the mid-90s during the semifinals and finals. As we all know, this is not the first time a top seed has fallen due to the heat. In 2026, world number one Jannik Sinner nearly faced defeat In Australia against world number 85 Elliott Spazziri where temperatures were roughly 97 degrees Fahrenheit. But he was able to continue playing after the tournament, closed the roof and gave the players a chance to cool off. And then later this year Sinner lost at Roland Garros in the second round to world number 56 Juan Manuel Serindolo when temperatures were around 90 degrees Fahrenheit. As we continue the American hard court swing through the hot summer months, we'll keep an eye on how tournaments react to the heat. Set number two brings us to Washington D.C. where the Australians had a multi generational matchup at the DC Open. 17 year old Cruz Hewitt, son of former world no.1 and two time Grand Slam champion Leighton Hewitt won his first ATP Tour level match beating American Marcos Giron 6 3, 6 4. So of course Cruz closed it out and immediately flashed the signature Hewitt celebration. Watch what happened when Tennis Channel asked him about the signature in their post match interview. And remind me again what this is called when you do the.

The other Australian in the draw, recently married and current world number six Alex Dimanour went into his first round match against Stefanos Sisypas. With their head to head record being 12:1 in Sisypas favor, Dimonor was able to close the gap just a bit, bringing the head to head to 12 2. Heading into a second round match against Cruz Hewitt. We both came here early before the tournament and the first two days we, we hit with each other. So it's going to be a pretty cool feeling I think all up to be able to, to play him. I'm excited for it. It's going to be a lot of fun and yeah it's, you know he's earned his way to where he is right now. He's been playing some, some incredible tennis, some big boy tennis and you know I'm gonna have to be ready and hopefully make his life, you know, as difficult as I can make it.

The 21 year old from the Philippines is known for having a crowd of devoted fans at nearly every tournament she goes to. Producer Mike and I saw this firsthand. We got to watch her first round match at Wimbledon against Zerazua and I can attest Ayala mania is a real thing. On Wednesday, Iyala beat seventh seed and defending champion Layla Fernandez 6267 to reach the Washington quarterfinals. An interesting note. This was Iyala's first win over a fellow lefty. Here's the wild part though. That's the second tournament in a row Iyala has knocked out the defending champion. Four weeks ago at Wimbledon, she dethroned reigning champ IGA Wiatek in the third round. Now she's done it to Fernandez. IALA won't be able to continue the streak though, since Mboka won't be playing in Canada this year. Just a quick side note, Layla joined us on Q and Andy this week and answered some fan questions. She was so cool. Check it out. The link will be in the description. Set number four takes us to the land of maple syrup hockey and the first American hardcore masters 1000 of the summer. Oh Canada. Jack Draper, the former world number four has been handed a main draw wild card into the National bank open in Montreal. 2026 has been brutal for Draper. Injuries have cost him the first three Grand Slams. This year, he's played just 13 matches and his ranking has dropped all the way to 147. As of this recording, Draper is still on the entry list for the Indiana Hard Court Championships, a challenger tournament that takes place during the first week of Cincinnati. For our Indiana Representative newsletter Megan it would be so cool to see Jack Schraper play in her backyard, but I don't think there would be many complaints to see him back in a Masters 1000 draw either. Now for the man on the other side of that epic showdown, Alcarazz is giving fans more and more hope for his upcoming return. The defending US Open champion, out since April with a wrist injury, posted a video of himself hitting forehands, just hitting forehands. But that was enough to make fans go crazy. That shows you how much the tennis world misses Carlitos. To add on to the Alcaraz return hype, some of Nike's 2026 US Open kits were leaked online this week. Alcaraz is seen wearing what looks to be a Knicks inspired basketball jersey. So sick. Carlos is still present on the Cincy entry list, but no confirmation from the Alcaraz camp.
