What's up Chuckers? Producer Mike here and this is your served five setter a weekly roundup of all things racquet sports. Five stories in 10 minutes or less. Today is October 3rd and this is what we got for you. A French farewell. The Big Two dominance continues, a shake up in Shanghai and another year end final spot is secured. But first, an announcement from the Tennis hall of Fame. Kicking off with set number one, Roger Federer headlines a list of nominees for the International Tennis hall of Fame's Class of 2026. The Swiss legend is one of eight men to achieve the career Grand Slam and the first ever to win 20 major singles titles and spent a record 237 consecutive weeks as world number one. Safe to say we will see Fed in Newport next year. Joining him on the ballot is a global fan favorite, Argentina's Juan Martin del Potro. Over his career, the former world number three won 22 singles titles and led Argentina to its first Davis cup title in 2016. He also won the 2009 US Open title where he upset one Roger Federer in a five set thriller on X. Del Potro wrote, what an honor and a privilege to be nominated for such a recognition. Thank you very much Tennis hall of Fame. Also on the ballot is four time slam champion Svetlana Kuznezova, winner of the 2004 US Open, in the 2009 French Open in singles as well as the Australian Open twice in doubles. Svetlana won an impressive 34 career titles, helped Russia capture three Fed cup championships and rose to a career high ranking of number two in 2007. Who do you think should get in? Head to the hall of Fame's website to cast your vote before next Friday. On to set number two. With more legend talk, Gael Monfis has announced his intention to retire at the end of the 2026 season. In a heartfelt post on social media, the former world number six reflected on his 21 year career writing Life is too short. Believe me when I say I have no regrets. What I do have is the feeling that I have been lucky, insanely, stupidly lucky. At the risk of sounding like a dad, which I am, it really does go by so fast. Earlier this year, the 39 year old Monfils won his 13th career title, becoming the oldest player ever to win an ATP Tour trophy. Long celebrated for his electric athleticism and a flair that earned him the nickname the Magician, we are sure next season promises to be a must watch from gown on to set number three Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner just keep winning. World number one Alcaraz won his tour leading eighth title of the season at the Japan Open on Tuesday. Not to be upstage, Sinner won the China Open on Wednesday, marking his third title this year and 21st overall. Here's how the four time major winner evaluated his performance in Beijing.
Carlos Alcaraz
Certain shots were working very well. Shots we we've been working on a lot. You know, the serve was working slightly better from the back of the court. Trying to be slightly more unpredictable. Worked, worked also a little bit better.

The world number two is heading to Shanghai as he seeks to defend his title. But bad news if you missed it, we won't have the opportunity to witness another final between the Big two with Carlos bowing out after taking home a title in Tokyo. On to set number four and Ben Sheldon is back in China. The 22 year old returned to action early Friday morning for the first time since a shoulder injury forced him to retire during the US Open. The injury led Ben to withdraw from the labor cup and Team USA's Davis cup tie last month, disrupting what had been a great summer. Despite the setback, the world number six, Shelton is confident he will take part in his first ever ATP final next month. Take a listen.
Ben Shelton
It's the first time that I've put myself in a good position at this point in the year to make Turin and hopefully get a couple more good results and get over the line. So for me I'm happy with the way that I've played this year, what I've been able to do. I'm not done. I have more things I want to accomplish this year and let's see where we are in a month's time.
Producer Mike
Shelton played David Goffon in a first round match up earlier on Friday.
