Welcome to Quick Served on the first Sunday brought to you by Amazon Prime. We'll run through some scores and then we'll get to couple of things. Novak had a blister. Medi had a meltdown. Proceed as you were. Jess Pugulo looked good. 10 4. Sabalenka had a bit of a stressful first first set against Masarova. Was able to get through ebo Marticanu through 1 and 2. Taylor Fritz 53 and 2 against Nava. Nava came out firing. Fritz talked to the ESPN desk about how he is now taking everyone's best shot. There is truth to that. Katie McNally threw Jasmine Palina through. Medvedev has beaten everyone on earth for a long time except Bonzi. Can't be Bonzi. Medvedev lost it in the fifth. I, I, I like it when people lose it. I generally tend not to choose the channel or sorry, change the channel when when people lose it. But he lost in five and he's got some searching to do in a place that he hasn't been in, you know, seven or eight years. Do you guys know what Riley Opelka said? What Riley Opelka say made me think of that song. What did the fox say? Like that's what but like done to like Riley Opelka. Whoever dubs that is gonna be my hero. Opelka called that umpire, an idiot a couple weeks ago and got fined in Canada. So, uh, do you remember when Medvedev. I forget. Who was it? He was fighting against someone and he goes, you are like a. He's a master of saying things without saying them. You are a small cat. Anyways, Manchic Rolls Navarro got a much needed win. Had only won one match since. Since Wimbledon. Tight first set. Like, those are the kind of sets you need to win when you are low on form. Yala beats Towson. This was a high quality match. Ruins my bracket as here we are. Another. Another first day, another blown up bracket. But it was like high quality in the third set. Got to a third set buster. Both people playing well. Nakashima gets through. Davidovich Faquino rolls. Layla Fernandez rolls. Winner of Washington earlier this summer. Yuri Lehechka rolls and Azarenka gets through. Happy for her. There were points in that Novak match. The blister looked gross, right? I didn't even like. And we didn't even know there was a blister. You know how weird it is to see a blister when you think it's like. I mean, I think there was an energy thing going also. I think there was like a physicality thing from. You can't fake match conditions in real life. You know, tournament. The nerves come in, conditions come in. I thought I texted at one point. I was like, if Novak doesn't win the second set, that might be it. You know, I was actually. There was a legit concern. I didn't know there was a blister. And then he took his shoe off. That thing was disgusting, I'll tell you that. That was a gross blister. It was like half of his little skin of his foot was hanging off. But Novak is like able to manage pain conditions. He was shortening the points early. I was texting techie Sean and producer Mike and just saying like, he is pacing himself. He's serving volleying and a lot more. Two days is a long time to get stuff right, but maybe not when your foot is hanging off the edge of earth. Props to Novak for getting through, but that thing was nasty. And. And I also think there were some physical issues there. Maybe it's just not from playing for a while. A little shock to the body, but mostly as it was, besides Mehdi losing to Bondsy for the third time in a major. Weirdly, French Open in 2017, this year at Wimbledon and now US Open 2025. I thought we were going to see the Medi magic. I thought he was going to force the comeback 60 in the fourth but wasn't to be but still got to yell at someone. But there are some great matches for their first Monday, which used to be redundant and now it just means it's the second day. Matty Keys kicking things off big foe taking his place on his favorite court on earth. Guy named Alcaraz plays what would Riley Pelka say in the other nights as your match? If you're going out there today, go see Mboka and Krachikova. You're going to see someone who might win a slam someday versus someone who's already won a couple. That'll be great. Draper playing rude playing let's see if the mix doubles helps their singles campaigns at all. Andrea playing if you get out there early and you want to go to the outer courts and you want to see some great tennis, go check out Cam Nori and Sebastian Korda. Sebastian Korda coming off of injury. Cam Nori is just a veteran player. He is so good, makes all the right decisions, does all the right things and then we get a chance to potentially say goodbye or at least just cheer again for Venus Williams against Muhava to close out Ash tonight. Get out there. Show V how much we love her. Enjoy the first Monday of the second day at the US Opening. This is Quick Serve, brought to you by Amazon Prime.
