Andy
Hey everyone. Welcome to Quick Served. I am Andy. We are up early to review and look forward. So heartbroken for. For Taylor Townsend, eight match points. And also like simultaneously a ton of admiration for. For Korchika. I've been saying it like when you are one of these pedigree players like Kova is and you start going, it's like, I don't know, I don't think she'll win the tournament. But like, like she's getting better as she goes like. And she knows how to win tournaments. And also, do you guys remember the scene in Dumb and Dumber where they pick up the hitchhiker and he asks the hitchhiker if it was the guy who was like tracking them if he wanted to hear the most annoying sound in the world?
Mike
Yes.
Andy
Then he just went, ah, something like that. I bet that sounded. Remember that? Yeah, that was like critique. That was like critique of his fan yesterday when I hear the most annoying sound in the world and it was like the entire stadium was for t. I mean, props to the guy cuz he's. He like simultaneously changed the energy of the match. He was 1v14000 and he somehow did it. And then when they were closing in, it was like he was. It felt like he was just doing it to embarrass the person to his left and shifted the whole thing. And here we are talking about it unserved. It was a. It was an issue. Alcaraz tougher set and then rolls again. It's so weird now because like, like two days ago, Sinner goes four sets and it's like, is Sinner okay? Didn't play perfect.
Mike
People are like, oh yes, he has the flu. He has bronchitis.
Andy
Yeah, it's like, oh, he lost a set in a Grand Slam. That's so. What a loser. You know, that's so. That's so strange. But Alcaraz didn't dare lose a set. Just so we're clear. Order was restored to earth. Even though they're both in the tournament. Order was restored to earth because Novak looked like Novak against Struf last night, by the way. There was no physical ailments. It seems like he's at least found his pacing with his breath a little bit, which is like, definitely a real thing. When you do something three or four times and you're a week into the tournament again, practice shape isn't match shape. And we're like watching him play himself into Grand Slam shape in real time. Last night was a. Was a clinic for Novak Djokovic, another clinic which maybe didn't get the fanfare of every. Everything else going on because there was so much going on yesterday at the Open was Taylor Fritz over mahaj, like, 4, 3, 2, 4, 2, 3, 4, 3, 3, 4. For like I said, 4, 3, 3. Taylor, that's the best he's hit the ball so far, right? Three, four days ago, we talked about how he's good at managing. Didn't really hit the ball great. Novak Fritz, it literally, we said, you give yourself a chance to kind of find that. That form with ball striking, and lo and behold, come out. They gave themselves enough opportunities. A little scratchy in the first week, and they come out and they found it. They're hitting the ball. Lehechka through someone we haven't mentioned enough of, just because there's been so many storylines on the women's side. Jess Pagula has been cruising, folks, after a summer where. And we're obviously judging her against her own shadow, which is what you do when players become the best players in the world, which she is one of this summer stretch from Canada. You know, Cincy, she's won Canada a couple times. Is normally really good for her. So, like last year, you picked her, we picked her to the final. She ended up making the final. But it was a pretty like, she is like, oh, she. She has the game. She has now. She's just going to have to deal with kind of the ins and outs, beat IGA in the quarters. She's been playing well. Right on the heels of not playing to her standard in the hard court summer, Jess Pagula has been playing great. Good, good run by Inlee Sabalenka is finding it one and four. You know, she looked like she was Full Saba last night. And then guys just. I don't know, I don't know what the timing on this is going to be. I don't know what the motivators are for the comment I'm about to make. But like, maybe we do. Maybe we do a reach out show, guys.
Mike
Why? What happened?
Andy
I don't know. I mean, I just feel like it's.
Mike
Are you upset with where your bracket's.
Andy
Going to go early? I don't appreciate your projection. Really, I don't. That's not something that is cool for me. I don't. I mean, we're up early. We're doing, we're doing the quick serves. We're trying to put out the stuff. And I feel like you're being more annoying than Krishikovich Theon right now.
Mike
You know, hey, you're still beating Jon right now. You're, you're, you have 21. You have 2,180 combined points over John's 2070. But you guys are both trailing the.
Andy
Current leader pretty significantly by a million points. Yeah, but that's deceit. Like, I know you're trying to like, I'm actually screwed because, like, I am. This might be the one where John gets me. This might be the one. Vondrozova beats Rabbakina. That's obviously what we're talking about. If you watched our draw show. I picked Rabbakina to the finals. I like her form a lot. And also it's like Vondrozeva is in that like critique of a mold when she gets going and she's in a major one. Wimbledon. She just played really well. Like, she's just a really, really, really good tennis player. I took a shot. I was going to try to delete the field with Rebakkin over Sabalenka. Cause I know everyone's going to take Sabalenka and Mike. I just got to be on. I'm. I failed. I failed Mike. So you mentioned the JW has less points than me. He also has his finalists still in the draw. I trade. I. That's like, oh, yeah, yeah, I'm, I'm leading you. I have zero teams left in the final four. But yeah, I'm leading you after the round of 16. This is great. This is all fine.
Mike
This can all be remedied with our redraw show.
Andy
I know tomorrow morning. I know the Redraw show is fun. I know we're in the studio now and then we're not going to be, we're going to be doing Something cool and wacky in New York City later. And also I'm, I'm, I'm fucked. And I know the Redraw show is like, oh, another chance, but I don't, I can't do it. Like, I, I, I just, we have to call a horse a horse. You know, like it's a three now. My, I have a three legged horse. It's just not the one. It's just not the one. Rybakina goes down. Vondrozova played a great match. Looking ahead, looking ahead. I mean, if Osaka beats Coco, I'm, I mean you might as well just take it out to pasture and light it on fire. Pula still pugula. Come on, Pula, let's go. Ego's got away. And if Ega doesn't wait, I'm, it's, it's over. FAA plays Rubles FAA with a big like kind of reentry into Grand Slam tennis against Vera. Second time he's beaten him in a slam. I'm sure you two know the first time, right?
Mike
Yeah, yeah. Let me just pull right out of my memory.
Andy
It definitely, yeah. A couple years ago, Wimbledon, Rubles. Rublev has been playing well. He's big, making the quarters of every event. Is this the tournament where he makes it past the quarters of Islam for the first time? We shall see Osaka and Coco showdown later this afternoon. Well, I, you know, venture to say Earth will be watching with these two superstars and it's going to, we, we talk about the Coco serve ad nauseam. Right. And this will be a stress test for it. Right. Osaka is not going to be subtle with the way she treats the second serve. She is going to dominate the rally of Coco struggles. I got to think Coco is going to do a lot of the hundred mile an hour to the body start the point type situation. Coco leads the head to head, three to. A lot of these were when Osaka was at the top of the game and Coco was working her way up. And then it shifted pretty quickly obviously to where Coco was, you know, when Naomi was coming back. So I don't know, this is like almost a nice level set where they're both kind of playing well at the same time or at least ranked high at the same time and then sinner bublok. Obviously we know who won the last matchup there. Right? Right.
Mike
I think it was.
Andy
Mr. Are you guys even on the, Are you even on the show right now? Are we just.
Mike
A lot of times you have rhetorical questions.
Andy
I don't. Yeah, that's true. What's. He goes and looks at rhetorical. He, like Google's rhetorical. Oh, silent H. That's cool. Bublik obviously won the last one in Holly in three sets when Sinner was getting ready for Wimbledon. And that, you know, that really put a dent in Sinner's march towards the Wimbledon title. I think that match really, really mattered for center, really. It was a big way.
Mike
It was in his head.
Andy
Moving forward has just gotten better this year. You know, it used to be kind of. He was really fun. He was really talented, and he played wacky shots, and he, like, he's legit now. Like, he's really, really focused. He's making runs in a lot of tournaments now. Really fun. You know who else has done a really good job kind of under the radar post? Wimbledon is Anisimova. Right. Has gotten back. Oh, and O in a final is rough. Right. But it feels like she was able to take the good parts of that Wimbledon run and at least take the positives, not dwell on the final, which was. It got weird. You know, it was. Oh, and, oh, it got a little strange. But she's done a fantastic job. What matchup are you looking forward to the most today? Producer Mike, assuming that you're still on.
Mike
The show, I. I probably think I want to see how Ana Samova does okay against Hijab. Yeah. Yeah. But I think. I think really, I mean, like, everyone, like every casual Coco Golf, Naomi, Osaka. I'm just pumped to see this.
Andy
Yeah. I think the star power is one thing. I think there's. We're going to be outfit central because of Naomi. My kids are now asking for Labobos, as I call them. Lenobus. No, no, no.
Mike
I called him a Lapupu yesterday, and it's like I had punched somebody in the face in my family.
Andy
I was, man, don't do that. I'm gonna do that. If I don't do that in the next hour, it'll be a miracle. I'm stealing that for sure. I thought you guys wanted us to order you Lapupus.
Mike
Yeah, it's like the Toomey version. Timo. What is it, Teemo?
Andy
Yeah. I don't know what you're talking about. Osaka and Coco. It's going to be thrilling for a lot of way. Obviously, they're both slam champions. They're both, like, worldwide superstars. Feels like they kind of made their impact at different times, and now they're both playing well together. The Coco serve versus the Naomi return. It's going to be a fascinating matchup. Just to see the mental, the physical, the star power, the U.S. open of things. Uh, it's all ahead of us. A lot of good tennis going on around the grounds. I cannot wait. We are entering the business end of things. Uh, I, I can wait to see the outcome of my bracket because it is just a disaster. Um, it's like I wasn't even trying very hard, but I was. I just got it wrong. Um, but John's going to beat me. That's. That's the part right now. I hope all the chuckers beat me. That's great. I'm for all the chuckers. I don't want to lose to Wertheim. That's what I don't want. That's simply what. What I can't handle. So I'm gonna go try to figure out if there's any way that I can readjust Techie Sean owns the bracket. So maybe we can just. Maybe we can just. The fixes in. Maybe just. Sean, a little help? No, nothing.
Mike
No, no, no, no. This is why we have the Redraw show tonight, right? And then, and then we are. We have a big week in New York. Andy. We, we fly you back up today. We do the reader all show New York.
Andy
I can't go.
Mike
You can't go.
Andy
You decided not to go. I can't go.
Mike
All right, well then it'll just be me at the hall of Science doing it, doing a show with a special guest and John. Andy, you can remote in. But we have a. We have a live show at the hall of Science outside the gates Tuesday. And if you haven't looked up tickets, check out our socials. There'll be links in the show description. Sean. I think there's a few left. Maybe, maybe not. I don't know. I should probably know if it's sold out before I promo it's. And then we're also doing a live activation for IBM on the 4th in Madison Square park in the morning. Stand by for more details on when that'll start. It'll be like nine in the morning, I think right now, but we're finalizing that plan right now. Very excited for that.
