Hey everyone. Welcome to Quick Served, presented by Mercury Financial techie Sean Carnage at Wimbledon. Chaos, chaos. Top seeds going everywhere. I got double surrender load. Yesterday lost Medvedev and then today lost Jess Pagula to Kochi Areto 2 and 3. I don't know how you see that coming. I don't know. I would pick Jessicula again tomorrow. If they played Mehdi, I'd take him against Bonzi again tomorrow. This is why tennis is the best reality show on earth. There's no script. Queen Wen goes down to Sin Yakova. Zverev goes down to Rinderkanish. Novak is going to get shut down. He is currently in the third set against Mueller. As we shoot this, the curfew will kick in most likely before they get to finish that one. I'm guessing they'll be second on center tomorrow. That's normally the way it works. To continue, Coco Gauff loses to Yastremska. We told you that was going to be a tough one, Coco. It's just game styles, right? Like she's great at what she does and what she does. The most challenging surface is going to be grass, especially against a big hitter like Yastranska. She needed a comfortable matchup in the first couple of rounds to kind of get her feet under get the feel for grass. But you know what, I'll tell you, Sean, I know she's going to say this is like the worst thing ever, and this is like super upsetting. And it probably, she probably feels that way. You tell her a month ago, you know what? You win Roland Garriloson. I don't know what happens for the rest of the year. You might lose first round of every tournament. Guess what she does.
Tennis Analyst
She's cool with it.
Host 2
She signs that contract. So there's no criticism for Coco Golf right now. She just won her second slam, one of the best players in the world. It's just grass is going to be her toughest surface, which is strange because that's kind of where we got to know her when she beat Venus, you know, when she was 15 years old. So, you know, maybe she figures out at some point, but just simply her game style is least beneficial on grass and the way that people can affect her in a negative way stylistically. Hard pace through the forehand is easier on grass. So props to Yastremska. She was playing great coming in, had been playing well on grass. Musetti goes down bracket buster again to Bazilishvili. It's just chaos. But that's. Listen, this is fun. This is what happens when you actually play tournaments outside of like the mono surface, where it's all kind of the same, regardless of, you know, it's either like kind of fast medium, or like slow medium or like just medium slow to slow slow. You know, when you, you allow different styles in. When you allow Rinder Knish to serve in volley and to hit a flat forehand and not stand 17ft behind the baseline. You know, unfortunately, the service that best benefits him to where he can beat an assassin. Zverev exists for like three weeks a.
Host 1
Year, four weeks a year.
Host 2
So I like the variance. It is. This is the by far, by far the toughest tournament to predict outside of maybe, you know that. I mean, Alcaraz, like, almost lost a Fognini who's kind of just like barreling towards the end of his career. You know, it's, it's, it's, it's just crazy. It. You can affect people and take the racket out of their hands sometimes on this service. Taylor Fritz did a great job. Down a couple to Pechy. Pericard gets through, and for that win he gets Diallo, who won a grass court tournament in the lead up. Toughest first two rounds in the tournament and also his half of the draw. Meti gone, Zverev gone. It's one of those ones where the toughest matches like to get himself in might pay off in a huge reward. I was going to pick Yala over Krichikova and then I just felt disrespectful to Krishikova because she has a two time slam chap and panic took her to the quarters. I don't know if she's going to get to the quarters. I think me choosing someone to the quarters is like a death sentence at this point, but she gets through. Yala so happy that I flipped that one. Draper rolled in a moment of sanity. Draper rolled in another moment of sanity. Jannik Sinner rolled. We talked about this Munar bublek match and I don't. I just kind of had a weird one on that one. Munar looked good. It's tough with expectation if you're Bublek and you're rolling. It's just it when it's kind of all ahead of you and you're playing on house's money. It's just a different type of feeling than going into a Grand Slam tournament with expectation. So Munar takes that one. Props to a hell of a career for Petra Kvitova. Two Wimbledon titles, two in the world. Top, you know, 510 player for a decade or more. Um, and we mentioned it on the draw show, but I don't know that I've ever heard one of her peers say anything negative about the way that she goes about it. And so I hope she's happy. Obviously, like she comes back after attack and she doesn't have full feeling in her hand. And I feel like her story is one, that we maybe have undersold and we do need to take a beat and realize one, how good she is, two, how classy she is, and three, how tough she is. All those things need to be said over and over again. No brainer. Hall of Famer. I don't even need to see the ballot. I'll save you the suspense of where my vote is going. She's absolutely a Hall of Famer. She carries herself like one and I know that she'll have her day in the beautiful Newport, Rhode Island. But craziness, craziness. Techie Sean draws opening up. This is fun. This is what we get. You know, we don't get a six week lead in where we're getting a data set from Monte Carlo through, you know, Geneva that matter in predictions and kind of knowing what's going on. I'd say there's fewer people that know what they're doing on grass like really, really know what they're doing than on any other surface, you know, and when it clicks, it clicks. But everyone looks a little, like a little nervy. Like Carlos looked a little nervy. Like, imagine winning everything like he has and then still coming out and being a little nervy. I just watched Novak play a nervous tiebreaker against Mueller. Well, like, he missed three chip backhands and one tiebreaker. That's bananas. He hasn't missed three balls and tiebreakers in the last 10 years. It's just all a little nervy. The, the, the weight of the place, you know, the different, different games are all of a sudden super relevant, like a rinder Kanesh. He. Listen, he. You could tell he was nervous. You could tell he just fought through it like the forehand was, you know, going a little chicken wing.
Host 1
He missed a couple in the last.
Host 2
Game and then was able to serve it out. It was a great story.
Tennis Analyst
So in, let's say, day one, there's a few upsets.
Host 2
Yep.
Tennis Analyst
Does that affect people's nerviness going into day two? Does that kind of have like, a snowball effect for other people usually, or not really.
Host 2
It shouldn't, but probably, yeah. If there's like chaos going on all around you, it's a little tougher to walk calmly. You know, if you're walking through, you know, a car graveyard and there's crash sites everywhere. Like you kind of, like you notice what's going on, you know, you should be professional enough to handle it. But yeah, maybe. I, you know, for me, I just think it's. I don't even know that it's. That as much the Pula one is this most shocking result of the, of the first two days for me because her, her game is made for. For grass. Like, she's ball striker moves around low center of gravity. Shot tolerance is great. That one's shocking to me. Queen Win and Queen Win hasn't won much on grass. You know, she, she kind of has that, like, hitch for him where she needs, you know, Zverev is like, so good that he's done well at every tournament, but he hasn't played that great on grass. Like, he does eat. Not, not for him. Like, he, his results on grass are great for, you know, some chucker, but he's, you know, great. Coco's never really, you know, the best result she's had was when she was really young, you know, Musetti, before last year, he kind of had this run where he was finals and semis and before that he didn't really do well on grass at all, you know, So I think it's more. More surface than it is, these players freaking out, not knowing what to do because they're a little nervy. Everyone's a little nervy. The first round of a slam, by the way. Like, you can have done it a million times, and you get out there and you're just a little jumpy. You've been waiting for it for, you know, your life, but a week you've been prepping, you know, the draw comes out. It's like those little moments of. Of, like, wanting to vomit, like when the draw comes out and then, you know, what day you play, and then all those little things kind of make your heart skip a beat, especially in the cathedral of tennis. But absolute carnage. I mean. I mean, I haven't gone fully through our draws, but they just have to be. I mean, we're just. That redraw show can't come soon enough.
Tennis Analyst
Light it all on fire.
Host 2
Light it on fire. But it's funny because, like, I'm sure there's some commentary on it, but in the moment, I hated it. I hated the options of, like, I didn't have confidence in anyone really rolling. You know, you go back and listen to it, it's like, I don't know, I guess, like Mehdi, like, he's Semi's last couple years, he played pretty well in a Holla. No, he's going to lose the Bonzi, obviously. Like, that's. That's what. Obviously. I mean, and the thing is, is, like, oh, you were wrong in that one. Yeah, yeah, I was absolutely wrong. And I would make the same pick tomorrow if they played again. You know, it's just happened. So, you know, 10% of the time or 20% of the time or 30% of the time is. Are those numbers. Doesn't mean it's likely tomorrow, but that's why it's the best theater. Sports is the best theater. There is no script. Doesn't matter if you're Medi and you've been number one in the world. You still got to go out there, win your first match. Doesn't matter if you won Roland Garros 3 weeks ago, you still got to go out there and do your job. And that's kind of the beautiful part of it. And because our season is 11 months a year, you actually never get a chance to enjoy yourself. Techie Sean. Yeah. Anyways, we'll catch you. We'll be back tomorrow with another quick serve brought to you by Mercury Financial. But everyone be safe. It's carnage in the streets.

This is advertiser content from I'm's Pet Food. Hey, humans. My name's Hiro. I'm a cat. I'm here to give you a crash course on how we went from fierce hunters to the floofy friends you can't live without. Although, let's be honest, we could probably live without you. Around 10,000 years ago, humans started farming, which accidentally created a rodent hunting bonanza that meant full time employment and activity for us. Humans were like, okay, these guys are chill. They can stay. So unlike dogs.
