Tonight, unlocking your subconscious for better sleep.
My friend Janet. Hi, Janet, who listens to sleep magic regularly, called me the other day and made sort of a frustrated confession.
B
She said, I just don't get the wiggling of the eyebrows. I mean, I do it, but I.
A
Just don't get it. And you may agree with Janet if you've been listening to sleep magic for a while, you've heard me ask you.
B
To wiggle your eyebrows, testing that your.
A
Eyes won't open as you pretend they're stuck shut. Now, if this is your first time listening to sleep magic, my apologies. You'll understand better in just a little bit, so please bear with me.
B
So this explanation is for all the Janets out there. Here goes. As humans, we are functioning from two.
A
Different minds at the same time.
B
There's the conscious mind, which is more.
A
Logical and analytical, and the subconscious mind, which is more imaginative and intuitive.
B
Now, in our waking life, we lead.
A
From the conscious mind. We like to analyze, rationalize, and figure things out.
B
The conscious mind is sort of like.
A
The horse pulling the cart of the subconscious mind.
B
But our job when doing hypnosis is.
A
To access the subconscious mind, to enter our imagination and our feelings and to.
B
Get to the deep programming inside ourselves and hypnosis. And is like putting the cart before the horse.
A
You're making the subconscious mind primary.
B
Now, when we wiggle the eyebrows, we are going straight to the imagination, engaging the subconscious mind. Meanwhile, the conscious mind is saying, I'm in control. I'm logical.
A
I can open my eyes.
B
But by pretending that your eyes won't open, we're saying, settle down, conscious mind. I'm choosing the imagination.
And by doing this, you're putting the cart before the horse and entering hypnosis. And it may seem strangely simple, like that's it, but it is. And it's not that weird.
A
Actors do this when they play characters.
B
Kids do it when they play pretend. We all do it when we daydream. And although our society sort of poo poos the imagination, considering it's sort of flighty or silly, it's actually an incredibly.
A
Powerful part of your mind, maybe the most powerful part.
So that, Janet, is why we wiggle the eyebrows, pretending that our eyes won't open.
B
We could do it other ways.
A
Maybe imagining that your hand is heavy and won't lift, or imagining that balloons.
B
Are tied to your wrist, making it so light that it lifts. It really doesn't matter, except that it.
A
Engages your imagination fully. And from that place, suggestions I make become clearer, more vivid, and are accepted much more easily.
B
We all have those nights when our.
A
Thoughts feel a little too awake, looping, wandering, refusing to settle.

One thing we talk about all the time on Sleep Magic is setting up a routine that supports rest. It's soft, crafted to last, and made from beautiful materials like European flax, linen, organic cotton and bamboo viscose. And honestly, the linen sheets have been one of the best gifts I've given myself this year. They're soft and they keep the temperature just right. And on colder nights, I add their quilt. And that's something I'll be gifting too. It has that warm, textured finish that makes a bed look and feel inviting the moment you pull it on. And as a gift, Quince bedding feels meaningful without being over the top. Their quality rivals that of luxury brands that charge two or three times as much. You blink your eyes and their princess dress is two sizes too small. And their dinosaur backpack isn't cool anymore. But don't cry because they're growing up.
