Welcome back to your body, welcome back to relaxation.
Jessica Porter
I'm so glad you're here. Thank you everyone for listening. I've been reading all the reviews and questions and episode ideas. They're fantastic. Thank you all for spreading the word. I want to give a couple shout outs tonight to some kids in the audience. First, I heard from someone named Orion. Now I'm assuming Orion is a boy's name, but if I'm wrong, forgive me. Orion is 11 and Sleep Magic has really helped him to overcome some difficult memories and he's sleeping much, much better. That is a super cool name, Orion. Such a powerful name and I'm so glad you're getting into this stuff at such an early age, like forming this healing relationship with your own body and mind. That is so, so cool. I'm really glad you're here and thank you for writing. And a shout out to Heidi, who's 10 and lives in Australia. Sleep Magic is really helping her to sleep well and she reached out to let me know that. I just want to say thank you to both of you guys, to all the kids out there and all the grownups out there, just anyone who's participating in this sort of big experiment of relaxation. It's very, very powerful and the greatest thing is it's also really comfortable and feels good. But I love that we're all exploring.
Carissa

So tonight, Making time for Self Care. It's really easy these days with the world being a pretty stressful place to give our energy to all the drama. It's like we open up some portal from our bodies and just offer our precious consciousness and vitality to situations we don't have much control over. And most of us do this. It's actually happening on a subconscious level. So unless we intervene upon this habit of giving away our energy, it just keeps going until we're exhausted, depressed. Which isn't good. But that's not even the end point. There will always be a new drama and a new problem to take whatever energy we have left. And sure, you may be thinking, but Jessica, aren't we supposed to stay alert to all the drama around us in order to respond to it? Isn't it responsible to know what's going on around me? And yeah, I think it's important to stay aware, but not at the expense of your own vitality. It's one thing to assess a situation and know where we stand on the issue, and it's another thing to react again and again and again to basically the same problem, leaving ourselves empty. So we have to bring self care into this equation. Now, I didn't grow up in any religion, but I love the biblical phrase.
Carissa
My cup runneth over.
Jessica Porter
Because our personal vitality is sort of like a cup that we're managing and it can run really low and it can get filled. And yes, we can even let in abundant amounts of energy until it runneth over and we have more than enough to give those around us and to give to the world. So how do we have excess when the world seems to be poking holes in our cups? Well, first we have to give ourselves permission and counter that thought. That we're meant to sacrifice ourselves to the drama, or that it's somehow irresponsible to take care of ourselves when others may be experiencing pain. I mean, let's think about it. There will always be someone with less than you have and someone with more. There will always be someone older and closer to the end, and always someone younger just beginning their journey. So why do we have a tendency to feel guilt or withhold from ourselves? Because others have different circumstances than we do. We don't expect an animal to deprive itself because there are other animals in more difficult situations. We don't stop watering all the plants just because one is wilting. So why would we foist that on ourselves? Your ability to bring energy to other people and to the world depends on your having energy, sustainable energy. And that's the key here, sustainability. We live our lives over time, week after week, year after year, even decade after decade. But the news wants to pull us into the drama of this moment every single day and deliver that dose of.
Carissa
Adrenaline every single day.
Jessica Porter
But life is a long game. And I don't know about you, but I want to make intelligent choices around where my energy goes. I want to add value to the world and not just react to it. I want to be surrounded by my nieces and nephews and their kids and their kids when I'm well into my 90s and I want to have something left in my cup for them and not to have given it all to the Internet or the news or the political whims of the times. I want to give them not just good vibes, but be a model to them to demonstrate that they Are allowed to take care of themselves no matter what's happening around them, so that their cups runneth over and they can contribute positively to their world.
Carissa
So here's to self care to our cups.
Jessica Porter
May they all runneth over. So get yourself into a safe and comfortable position. And let's begin.
Carissa
Allow your eyes to close easily and gently as you come back home to your body. And bring your awareness now to your breath.
Jessica Porter
Your awareness which has been outside of.
Carissa
You all day, out in the world, exploring things, doing things, fixing things. Your awareness is come back home now to your breath. The quiet little wave of your breath. Good.
Jessica Porter
Now I'd like you to bring your.
Carissa
Awareness up into your eyelids for a moment.
Jessica Porter
And imagine that your eyelids are feeling.
Carissa
Very heavy, sleepy and comfortable.
Jessica Porter
Like you're up really late reading a.
Carissa
Book and you just can't keep your eyes open anymore. As your eyes are heavier and heavier. I want you to accept the suggestion that your eyes are so heavy that.
Jessica Porter
You just can't open them. And in a moment I'm going to.
Carissa
Ask you to test your eyes to make sure you can't open them by wiggling your eyebrows.
Jessica Porter
Now, you could open your eyes if.
Carissa
You really, really wanted to, but I want you to pretend that you can't. So allow your eyelids to be really heavy. And now test your eyes to make.
Jessica Porter
Sure you can't open them.
Carissa
Wiggle your eyebrows while your eyes remain closed. Good. You can stop doing it now. And this wonderful warm, heavy feeling you have around your eyes.
Jessica Porter
Let'S imagine it.
Carissa
Moving back into your head like a warm mist of relaxation, taking over your whole brain, taking over every single cell of your brain. And now your head is feeling really, really heavy. Heavy like a bowling ball on the pillow. Good. Even your scalp is relaxed. And now I'd like you to imagine that in your head is a big ball of yarn. And this ball of yarn represents all the mental tension and to do lists and thoughts and controlling mechanisms of your mind. Everything you've been handling for the last little while.
Jessica Porter
And now imagine that you're finding one.
Carissa
End of that ball of yarn and it's coming out a hole in your forehead. And now you're pulling and pulling on the yarn. And the ball of yarn is unwinding and unwinding as you pull and pull. And it's getting smaller now and smaller now as all these thoughts begin to unravel and unravel as the ball is very small now. And as you pull, pull, it's unwinding completely. And now the other end of the ball of yarn is coming out that hole, and you feel so peaceful. And your mind is empty. Good. As the relaxation moves down into your shoulders. And your shoulders are letting go, sort of melting like butter into the bed. And as your shoulders are relaxing, all of the responsibilities you feel in your life are falling off your shoulders to the floor. Responsibilities you feel to your family and friends, responsibilities you feel to your work, responsibilities you feel to the world at large, to the future.
Jessica Porter
And even responsibilities.
Carissa
You feel to the past. They've all fallen to the floor. And you can pick any or all of them up tomorrow morning. Because for right now, your only responsibility is to yourself. As you go deeper and deeper.
Jessica Porter
And.
Carissa
The relaxation is moving down your arms now, causing your arms to feel very, very heavy. And that feels so nice. And now you bring your awareness to any sounds you may be hearing around you. Sounds from within your room or your home or from outside. And as you relax, taking yourself deeper and deeper.
Jessica Porter
Those sounds are also taking.
Carissa
You deeper and deeper. And the only sound you're paying any attention to is the sound of my voice. And the sound of my voice is also taking you deeper and deeper as the relaxation moves down now into your chest. And it's sort of a mist now, a beautiful mist moving around inside your chest cavity, opening and expanding inside of you as you imagine this mist now surrounding and supporting your heart inside your chest. Imagine this mist holding your heart like a pair of hands as you support yourself. And any emotional tension you may have been carrying today or holding in your heart is disappearing now, evaporating as you go deeper and deeper. And the relaxation is moving down now into your belly. Your pelvis is feeling very heavy on the bed. And let's imagine, inside your belly, too, is a ball of yarn holding feelings you've carried for a while now. And as you imagine one end of that ball of yarn coming out of your belly, and you're pulling on it as the ball of yarn is unwinding and unwinding and getting smaller and smaller. And now it's unwinding completely. And the other end of the ball of yarn is coming out of your belly. And you feel clear and calm and relaxed from deep inside. As the relaxation moves down your legs now moving all the way down through your knees, down your calves, into your ankles. Your legs feeling so heavy, deliciously heavy and relaxed. Relaxation moving all the way down into the soles of your feet and your toes. Good. Imagine now you are standing in a beautiful, comfortable room, and you're looking down at your feet, and you notice under and around your feet, a pool of golden nectar, glowing like honey in the sun. This golden energy is warm, radiant and calm. It's the energy of wholeness, of healing, of enoughness. And very slowly, this golden nectar is beginning to rise. It's touching the soles of your feet and moving up inside of you.
Jessica Porter
Filling.
Carissa
Each toe, your arches and heels. It's bringing warmth and fullness into these places that may have been tired or neglected. And you feel yourself beginning to receive. There's nothing to do but allow and let in. And receiving feels good as you take a deep breath and you're receiving.
Jessica Porter
Very.
Carissa
Slowly, very gently, filling with this lovely warm golden liquid as it continues to rise, moving up into your ankles, your calves, coating your muscles, soothing your bones. It is rich like warm honey, and yet it is weightless, only light, only healing. As it's reaching your knees, you feel any remaining strain begin to loosen. You are softening as you are filled by this wonderful positive energy. Now it's moving up to your thighs and your hips, this nectar wrapping around your bones, weaving into your cells, patching tiny places you hadn't even noticed or depleted. You are becoming whole again, more solid, more true. You are a vessel, like a cup filling with energy. As you notice, the nectar is moving up. It's reaching into your belly now, a gentle glowing pool in your center. Here it is gathering. Here it is lingering. And as it does, your center of gravity is settling. Your breath is deepening, your nervous system relaxing as you are filling yourself, filling your cup. And from this full belly you are connecting with the earth. This is your place of creation, of sensuality. You remember the smell of pine trees and holding a loved one's hand. You are grounded here, connected to the sounds of nature and the taste of a strawberry. This is your seat of well being. This is the home of your intuition. And as your belly is filling with this nectar, you are feeling its positive charge. I am full. I am whole. I am complete. I am full. No matter what's happening around me, I am full. And the nectar is patching up any damage that's been done to your cup, any tiny holes or leaks that may have been created by stress. And notice how good it feels to do this self care. As you patch these little holes, you're feeling more energy, more creativity, more spark. And now the golden nectar is rising into your chest and it's wrapping around your heart, flowing into every corner, illuminating every soft chamber. The nectar is patching any holes that have been created by fear or resentment or concern. The nectar is Patching and healing your heart. I am full. I am whole. I am complete. No matter what happens around me, I am full. You feel a gentle expansion here, a gentle joy, as you are feeling full from the inside out. And your heart is sending beautiful light out into the world. It feels so good, so peaceful, so full. No matter what's happening around me, I feel good. No matter what's happening around me, I am whole. Now the golden nectar is rising up into your shoulders and flowing down your arms, your elbows, wrists, hands and fingertips, filling with this ancient, radiant energy, mending you and restoring you. And now the nectar is continuing to rise up into your throat, relaxing your jaw and your tongue and the space behind your eyes. Your mind is becoming soft like silk. Just this golden stillness. And your mind is sending out a radiant light to everyone around you. And now the nectar is reaching the crown of your head, filling that tiny last space. And now you are completely full, brimming with light and love and energy. And now imagine it is overflowing, gently spilling upward and outward, creating a halo of golden light all around you. Your cup runneth over. You are whole. You are full. You are complete. Notice how this energy helps everyone around you. You are whole. You are full. You are complete. And now you rest in this feeling, this glow, this enoughness. And you will return to this fullness every time you hear this recording. And every time you fill your cup, it will be easier and easier, more and more comfortable, and it will feel better and better. I am full. I am whole. I am complete. I am full. I am whole. I am complete. I am full. I am whole. I am complete. My cup runneth over. My cup runneth over. My cup runneth over. As you go deeper and deeper, you drift and float and dream. Sam.
