Hi there, I'm Jessica Porter and welcome to your exclusive bonus episode of Sleep Magic. If you are new here, welcome and thank you so much for joining. Your support and appreciation and loyalty means everything to us and it helps keep this show alive. So thank you. Thank you. So we're doing another power nap recording. You can listen to it to go to sleep tonight or you can listen to it during the day for a sort of short rest. It's called Summer Rainstorm and it's based on the cabin in Canada that I described in an episode last year. It's a place I go every year to visit my family and I was just there. We had a great week together tucked away in the woods on an island in Ontario. And one day there was a luscious summer rainstorm and I found it the perfect, perfect companion during a summer nap. So we're going to go back there tonight and you will get some deep, refreshing rest as you listen to the rainstorm. Now, just one note. I'm going to be counting you out of hypnosis at the end of this, but I recommend you set an alarm if you need to wake up again on your timetable. And if you don't end up going all the way to sleep, that's fine. You're resting. That's the most important thing about a nap is that you're getting rest. So just release any pressure you may put on yourself to go somewhere that you think you need to go. And just trust, trust, trust that you're resting. Great.

So get yourself into a safe and comfortable position. And let's begin. Allow your eyes to close easily and gently. Ah. And just allow your body to sink into the couch or the chair or the bed or wherever you are right now. Good. I'd like you to bring your awareness up into your eyelids and imagine that the little muscles of your eyelids are feeling loose and limp and relaxed. Let them get nice and heavy. Heavy, heavy. And now I'd like you to accept the suggestion that your eyelids are so relaxed they simply will not open. So test your eyes now to make sure they won't open. And this is a fake out. You're just pretending. So wiggle your eyebrows as your eyes stay closed. Perfect. And now allow this relaxation that you have in your eyelids to move back. And your head. Let's imagine that relaxation. Moving, moving. Spreading, spreading through your whole head. Spreading into your scalp. Relaxing your scalp. Your head is feeling heavy against the pillow. Just allow your head to get heavy. Good. As the muscles of Your face release and relax. And you just let whatever has been happening today begin to release. As you release the tension of today, your subconscious mind will work on any problems you may have. So it's okay to let go. Go. Good. As the relaxation moves down into your shoulders and arms. And your arms feel nice and heavy. Heavy, heavy. Feel your fingertips against whatever they're touching. Just move down into your face, fingertips. Allow your energy to move down into your fingertips as your awareness settles just for a moment in your hand. And the relaxation moves down now into your chest and belly. Your torso feeling heavy against the couch or the bed or the chair. And whatever emotional tension you may have been experiencing today is disappearing, releasing, evaporating. You get to take this time to just be trusting that your subconscious mind is handling everything. As the relaxation moves down into your legs. Your legs feel nice and heavy. Feel so good to be off your feet, taking this delicious nap. As any tension that may have built up in your body moves down now through the soles of your feet and down into the atmosphere. Good. As you bring your awareness to any sounds going on around you now. And from this moment on, no sound that you hear will bother or disturb you in any way. In fact, from this moment on, any of sense sound that you hear will actually take you deeper and deeper into relaxation. Bring your awareness to the sounds going on around you right now and let them take you deeper. Good. The only sound you're paying any attention to is the sound of my voice. And the sound of my voice is also taking you deeper and deeper. Imagine I am driving you in a small boat as we move leisurely across a lake. You feel the warm summer breeze against your cheeks and through your hair. You feel free. You feel free. It's time to rest. And as we move forward over the water, you are relaxing. We arrive at a dock on an island. It's a long wooden dock that's been here for decades. The wood is so weathered it looks silver. You step out of the boat onto the dock and remove your shoes and put on some comfortable sandals waiting for you on the dock. You take a deep breath and slow, smell the air. It's humid out today. The sky is more gray than blue. It feels so good to be here, to be away from the tension and the noise of the city. I say, enjoy your rest. And I drive the boat away, back to another shore. You walk along the dock and with every step you're taking, you go deeper and deeper. At the end of the dock, you arrive at a sand dune shore where the lake Water laps at the little beach. You slow down and hear the sound of the gentle flapping, so quiet and rhythmic, like a heartbeat. You turn toward the lake and look out over its vast expanse. You see that there's a summer storm brewing in the west. Clouds are dark and gray, gathering slowly but decisively. Nature is gathering her force. As you look at the clouds, you feel quietly excited to witness the power of nature. The air is muggy and you feel an electricity building in the atmosphere. The wind is feeling cool as it picks up speed. You turn back toward the island and look up. You're greeted by trees. Huge, lush green trees. Towering oaks, sturdy maples stretching high into the sky. Their branches swaying gracefully and their bright green leaves fluttering the breeze. You are safe here. You are safe here. Safe and surrounded by the power of nature. You notice a path stretching several yards into the woods. You see a small cabin at the end of it. You begin to walk along the path, and with every step you take, you're going deeper and deeper into relaxation. The cabin is made of a silvery wood, weathered like the wood of the dock. It was built in the 1970s for children who are now parents. You open its screen door and enter the cabin and you smell the scent of pine. It has pine floors and pine walls and a pine ceiling. You detect a slight moth from years of rain and the dampness of the soil around the cabin and the biological archaeological mystery of the forest. The cabin smells of summer. There are two big windows, floor to ceiling, but instead of glass, they contain screens. So you feel like you're still outdoors. But you're safe. Safe. Safe and protected. There's a bookshelf along the wall, heavy with dog eared paperbacks from summer after summer, summer after summer of reading. Generations have spent time in this cabin reading, relaxing, healing. Thousands of naps have taken place here. So much peace, so much rest. You lay down on the bed, which is covered by a handmade quilt made by your sister 10 years ago when she went through a quilting period. You close your eyes and feel your body sink into the bed. And just as you're taking yourself deeper, you hear it. The first drop of rain hits the roof of the cabin. A sort of thud. And then another. The storm begins. As the rain falls, you can smell a change. And it's coming down on all the plants around the cabin, on the trees. You hear it not only on the roof, but you hear the rain on the plants. A different sound, lighter. Now. The storm really begins to pick up momentum. And you hear the rain on the lake Itself, like a shushing sound. And you hear these sounds not only with your ears, but your body is receiving them. You feel the vibration of them. Storm is moving through your whole being as you go deeper and deeper and allow your body to release like a cloud releases rain going deeper and deeper. You are being cleansed. Just as nature lets go, you are letting go. As the storm is releasing. You feel it in your body and you are releasing. You are releasing like the rain. You are as natural. That's the rain. You focus on the rain. And as the storm gets stronger, you are going deeper. As the rain gets louder, you go deeper. As nature is releasing, you are releasing. As you give yourself permission to rest, to let go. As you feel the rain moving through you. As you've poke on the rain. And now the storm is slowing down, passing, retreating. The air feels cleansed, lighter, more open. You notice that the sun is shining through the trees. You hear the sounds of the birds tweeting and chirping after the rain. You get up from the bed, feeling rested and calm. You open the door and step back onto the path. The plants are wet with big raindrops on their leaves, glistening in the sun. You feel the warmth of the sun on your body and you relax, knowing you have this cabin in the woods, your retreat that you come back to again and again. And every time you think about it, you will relax. You walk to the dock and the sky looks clear and blue and goes on forever. The lake is calm like a mirror. And then you notice in the distance, my little boat motoring toward the dock. I've arrived to take you back to your life, back to the second half of your day. I smile and wave as the boat meets the dock. In a moment, I'm going to count from one to five. And on the count of five, you'll open your eyes, coming back to the room feeling refreshed and happy, and you'll move back into your day. 1. You walk along the dock, take off your sandals and put on your shoes. 2. Energies coming back to your hands, your feet, your head. 3. You get in my boat. I smile at you. You smile at me. You look rested. I say four. You feel very, very good inside. I push away from the dock as we head back to the waking world. And on 5, you open your eyes, coming back to the room, feeling wonderful. It.
