Cassandra on Cape Cod has been seeing good results with Sleep Magic Ophelia in Texas. What is with the names tonight? These are fantastic. Ophelia made an interesting episode suggestion about some of the old sounds and feelings that move through us when we quiet down at night. I love that idea. Before we get started, let's hear a quick word from our sponsors who make this free content possible. What is Daddication?

The thing that drives me every day as a dad is Dariona. We call him Dae Date for short. Every day he's hungry for something, whether it's attention, affection, knowledge. And there's this huge responsibility in making sure that when he's no longer under my wing that he's a good person. I want him to be able to sit back one day and go, we work together. We did a good job.

I remember when I moved out of New York, where I'd lived for four years, and I basically moved into the woods in a cabin, and when I lay down my head at night, I would hear sirens. It was nuts. I mean, not like crazy loud sirens, but just sort of the echoes of all the city sounds that were no longer there. So I really get that. I love that suggestion, Ophelia. I will work on it. So if you have any suggestions for episodes, please send them. Someone named Candyman says, not man Manned says they channel me when they go to the dentist, meaning they get really, really relaxed now and use the sleep magic techniques in the dentist chair. I love that. Please let us know how the relaxation is showing up in your life. That's fantastic. Okay. Tonight, practicing peace. A listener named Amanda just went through a big loss and asked specifically for an episode on peace. So I looked up the dictionary definition of peace and found a couple of interesting things. It said peace was the freedom from disturbance and a state or period in which there is no war or war has ended. So peace is defined in relationship to struggle, like peace comes after struggle or after war. It's that sigh of relief after a challenge or a stressful event. And I think that's very much what Amanda may be experiencing now or seeking to experience. However, a slightly deeper Googling has confirmed my intuition that peace does not have to be connected with struggle. Of course, after we experience lots of tension, we may feel peace more consciously and with more gratitude. But peace is also defined as coherence or vibrational resonance. Like when we line up internally our heart and mind and gut experiencing a peaceful flow between them. That's a sort of inner peace. And this flow is found in nature. A quiet, almost imperceptible pulse that life gives off when things are working naturally. And we can cultivate that within ourselves because we are part of nature. We are made of the stuff of nature, no matter what is going on around us. So tonight, we practice feeling that peace within us. So get yourself into a safe and comfortable position and let's begin. Allow your eyes to close easily and gently and bring your awareness to your breathing. And as you bring your awareness back home to your body, to yourself, all of the energy, sort of tendrils that have been going out during the day, all the things you've been handling or holding on to or thinking about, imagine them dropping to the Floor. What I love about sleep is that we do it alone. It's a. It's a selfish act, but not in the traditional sense. Our consciousness comes in retreats and hangs out in its home or its shell. And we get to find ourselves in this place. And the more relaxed we become, the more this is a healing place, a loving place, a comfortable place. And we get to be more comfortable with ourselves. And being comfortable with myself is good for all my relationships. It makes me a more generous person. My cup runneth over. So as you bring your awareness now into your eyelids, allow your eyelids to feel nice and heavy. Just imagine that they're feeling relaxed and heavy. And just by imagining it, it's happening. And now I'd like you to imagine that your eyelids are so heavy that they cannot open. And I know you're just imagining that you could open them if you wanted to. But now I'm going to ask you to test your eyelids to make sure they won't open by wiggling your eyebrows. So just give them a little tug while your eyes remain closed. Good. As you are automatically going deeper and deeper, and that lovely, warm heaviness in your eyelids is sinking back into your brain, a lovely warm mist of relaxation moving back into your brain, taking over every single cell. Good. As the muscles of your face soften and relax. And your head feels so heavy on the pillow, as that warm mist of relaxation is moving down now into your shoulders, imagine the muscles of your shoulders are melting into the bed. And as that warm mist of relaxation moves down, down into your arms, you notice that your arms are feeling heavy, heavy on the bed. As you allow the heaviness to creep into your hands, to the palms of your hands and into your fingers. Every single finger feeling heavy, full and relaxed. As you listen to this recording, you may be aware of the sounds going on around you. But that's okay, because from this moment on, no sound will bother or disturb you in any way. In fact, from this moment on, any sounds that you hear from within your environment will actually cause you to go deeper and even deeper into relaxation. So bring your awareness now to the sounds going on around you and let them take you deeper. Good. The only sound that you're paying any real attention to is the sound of my voice. But even the sound of my voice is taking you deeper and deeper. And soon the sound of my voice will sort of fall away as you have your own private experience of relaxation. So let's imagine that warm mist, a relaxation, is moving down into your chest now, softening and Opening and relaxing your chest cavity. And deep inside, that mist of relaxation is surrounding and supporting your heart, like you're holding your own heart in relaxation. And as that mist moves down now, down deep into your belly, your whole torso is relaxing and feeling heavy. The relaxation is softening and releasing the muscles you might hold in your belly during the day, muscles you might hold in your back during the day. Even your spine is relaxing, energy flowing through it more easily, more comfortably, as you go deeper and deeper. As the mist of relaxation moves down, down, down into your legs. Your legs are feeling very heavy and relaxed. And the heaviness is moving down now into the soles of your feet, into your toes. Every toe feeling full, heavy and relaxed. Good. And as your body is relaxing, your mind is relaxing. And as your mind mind is relaxing, your body is relaxing. And as your body is letting go, your mind is letting go. Imagine you are in an ancient forest. The air is still, warm and rich with the scent of moss and wildflowers. You lie down on a blanket between two huge trees. You look up and see their branches arch toward one another, their leaves filtering the moonlight into patterns on the forest floor. You hear the sounds of a small stream that is meandering through the forest, its water whispering over smooth stones. You close your eyes and hear the sounds of the birds, warbles and coos, and a gentle night breeze stirs through the leaves. As you relax, time softens and the outside world has disappeared. There's just the rhythm of the water, the gentle hush of the trees, and your own quiet breath, sinking with the forest around you. Soft, peaceful. As you gently bring your attention to your heart and you feel into that quiet space in the center of your chest. And as the rhythm of your heart becomes smooth and even, your body is synchronizing so many systems within it. Naturally, easily, as you go deeper and deeper, imagine a soft light in your heart. And within that light, there is a vibration, a steady vibration. The hum of the universe, the frequency of peace. And you are feeling it, tuning in with it, being one with it. This vibration of peace inside of you has always been here. It is a part of you, and you are a part of. Knows how to rest. It knows how to breathe. It knows how to simply be. This vibration of peace is moving through the natural world. It is the rhythm of the trees as they sway, the breath of the ocean as it flows. It is in the stars. So now imagine this vibration of peace is expanding within you from your chest. Imagine it is moving down your arms and into your hands. Your body is made from the stars. The elements that make up you. Carbon, nitrogen, oxygen and hydrogen were made by the stars themselves. So the peace of the stars is in you. As you allow the peace to move down your spine. Every atom in your body contains space, the space of the universe. And that space is peaceful. You are made of peace. As you allow the vibration of peace to move down through your hips, moving through every single cell. Peace taking over your abdomen, your pelvis, as you allow your legs to fill with peace. The space in every atom pulsing with peace all the way down to the tips of your toes as the vibration moves up now into your neck, into your jaw. Even the cells of your neck and your jaw are made from the stuff of the stars, filled with this vibration of peace. And now it's moving up into your brain, taking over both hemispheres of your brain and expanding right through it. Beyond duality, beyond here and now, us and them, right and wrong. Peace accepts everything. Peace is connected to everything. It is whole. So your mind is relaxing as peace is moving through it, sending its light in all directions, like a star. As you allow your whole being to feel the peace as a pulse, as a frequency, a resonance, as you go deeper and deeper, enjoying the peace. And now imagine the space around you as the peace expands into the forest, connecting with everything. And peace softens the air. Because that's what peace does. It expands. It ripples. It heals. And you are not separate from it. You are it. So you rest now in this field of peace. Sa. And this vibration is always within you. Peace inside. Peace always. Sa. As you find yourself back in your bed, going deeper and deeper. And the peace is expanding, moving through you, releasing into your bedroom, softening, rippling, healing, as you drift and float and dream it. Sam. It sa.
