Hi everyone, it's Jessica. And welcome back to Sleep Magic. It's New Year's Eve. Yay. And as we move toward a fresh chapter, I thought it would be meaningful to revisit one last episode from the Team Magic archives. This one is a favorite of mine because it invites you to pause, breathe, and set intentions with clarity rather than pressure. I'm so, so grateful that you're here, and I hope this helps you ease gently into the year ahead. Happy New Year. Tonight, setting intentions for the New Year. Mmm, I love this. It's no accident that we make resolutions right after the dark fist of the solstice. It's like a boomerang of energy as the direction changes from the most intense contraction to the beginning of expansion. So it makes sense that we set intentions on this energy, that we make wishes, as it were. And yet it's kind of easy to sort of be like top down and from the executive function of our conscious minds this time of year and we make these firm commitments to ourself and then inevitably we get disappointed when we don't behave the way we want to or we can't sustain the behavior that we want to sustain. But tonight we're going to be using hypnosis for your New Year's intentions. We will focus on one new self care behavior and on one behavior that creates something new in your life or pushes a project or dream or career forward. And I will have you practice these behaviors in your imagination, which is like the engine room of your life. And as we imagine moving through all of this coming year, doing the new thing, sticking to your resolutions, it's one thing to make a promise at the beginning of the year and another thing to actually practice the new behavior all throughout the year. So that's what we're going to do tonight and I think you'll enjoy it and feel free to listen to this later on in the year in order to reinforce these new behaviors as time passes. And by the way, you're here to sleep well tonight. So if you fall asleep while we're doing this, that's kind of the point. You can always listen to it other places, other times. Get some rest. Now get yourself into a safe and comfortable position and let's begin. Allow your eyes to close easily and gently. Let's all take a nice deep breath. It's a new year and you get to create in this new year by relaxing deep inside and allowing your inner being being to lead your life. So now Bring your awareness to your breath and just let your breath be normal and natural. But your awareness now is coming back to your breath, and you're just sort of meditating just for a moment on your breath. You're getting better and better at focusing your mind, and that's good. The more you can focus your mind, the more magic you can create. So now bring your awareness up into your eyelids. And imagine now that your eyelids are feeling sleepy and heavy and relaxed. And as you allow your eyelids to get heavier and heavier, I'd like you to imagine that your eyelids are so relaxed that they simply will not open. And now I'd like you to test your eyelids to make sure they won't open. And you're just pretending now, just playing a game, pretend your eyelids won't open. And wiggle your eyebrows to prove that your eyelids are not opening. Just a little trick. And now this relaxation that you have around your eyes is the same quality of relaxation that you will soon have throughout your entire body. And for many of you, it's already beginning to spread throughout your entire body. As the relaxation moves down into your head, Softening and relaxing your scalp. Imagine it moving now into your skull. And the relaxation is taking over every single cell of your brain. And that feels so good. As all mental tension disappears. As the muscles of your face become soft and relaxed. Your head is feeling deliciously heavy in the pillow. Heavy, heavy, heavy. As the relaxation moves down into your neck, your throat, into your shoulders, and the muscles of your shoulders are sort of melting, warming, softening. And as your shoulders are relaxing, all of the responsibilities you carry on those shoulders have fallen to the floor. Responsibilities you carried throughout last year and responsibilities you feel you must carry into this year. They're dropping to the floor because as you sleep, you're free. Free. Free to rest, free to heal, Free to dream. Good. As the relaxation moves down your arms. Now allow your arms to feel warm and heavy. As the relaxation moves all the way down into the palms of your hands. Notice that the palms of your hands may even tingle a little as the relaxation rolls into your fingers, rolls into every single finger. And now your fingers are feeling full, heavy and relaxed as you take yourself deeper and even deeper. And that warm relaxation that you have, the muscles of your shoulders, is seeping inside your chest, moving down inside your chest. So your chest is feeling warm and relaxed and soft. And any emotional tension you may have been carrying today has disappeared as the relaxation moves down deep, deep into your belly. And your belly, too, is softening, letting go any tension you may have been holding in your belly during the day has disappeared. The muscles of your back becoming warm and soft and kind of melting. Your pelvis is feeling heavy on the bed. And as you bring your awareness to any sound that may be going on around you, Allow them to take you deeper and even deeper. Good. As the sound of my voice also takes you deeper and deeper. As the relaxation moves down now into your legs. That warm, heavy, sleepy feeling moving all the way down to your feet and your toes. And your legs are feeling so nice and heavy on the bed. Heavy. Heavy. As you imagine you're standing at the top of a staircase, A relaxation. There are 10 stairs on the staircase, and in a moment you'll be stepping down each stair one at a time. And with every step you take down the staircase, you'll go deeper and even deeper into relaxation. As you step down now from step number 10 down to nine, going deeper and deeper. Down to eight. Going deeper. Down to seven. As you relax, relax. Down to six. Letting go, Letting go. Five, Four, Three, Two, One. At the bottom of the staircase, you're standing in front of a door. And on the door are the words, my inner mind. You open the door and enter the room and sit in a very, very comfortable chair. And you relax into the chair. Across from you is a screen. And up on this screen is a timeline of the next year. You may see this timeline as a straight line or as a circle, or even a type of calendar. It doesn't matter as long as you imagine the next year. This represents your journey through the next 12 months. It is a full cycle through expansion and contraction. As you relax in the chair, I'd like you to imagine a way in which you would like to take better care of yourself. Allow it to be something simple, something doable. Maybe it's taking a nice bath regularly or reading good books before bed. Maybe it's going to the gym or eating more salads. Maybe you'd like to journal on a regular basis. Allow your inner mind to simply choose one thing that strengthens and sustains you. That feels like a gift to yourself, something that you'd like to become a habit. And now imagine that you're doing this thing. And let's get really specific about it. Where are you exactly as you imagine doing this thing? Feel your feet on the floor or wherever they are. Notice what your hands are doing. Notice if there are any sounds going on around you. Notice if you're alone or with others. Now take a nice deep breath as you do this thing. And relax into this behavior. You are creating new neural pathways for this behavior, practicing it. Notice how you feel as you do this. Well done. You're already doing this self loving act. Well done. And now I'd like you to imagine that you're stepping onto the timeline on the screen. Move yourself from this moment now to one month from now. So if you're listening to this, in January, move into February. And now here you are again, one month from now, doing the same self loving thing. Notice where you are, notice where your feet are, where your hands are, how it feels to be doing this thing. And now as you relax and take a nice deep breath, The neural pathways are getting stronger and deeper. You enjoy this act of self care. And now you move along the timeline to March as you imagine doing this self caring act. And now you're in March, going deeper and deeper into this experience. And now you move forward into April as you continue to take care of yourself, as you continue to love yourself. And notice what's going on around you. How is April different from January? What is the weather like? You find that the further you're going along the timeline, the easier this act is becoming. More and more natural, more normal. And as you do this self caring thing, your inner being is relaxing and expanding. The self caring act is gaining in momentum. And now you're moving beyond April to May and June. And now you're at the other end of the year, the opposite solstice. Notice how you feel at the other side of the year, at full expansion or contraction depending on where you live, as you do this thing, continuing to take care of yourself as this task becomes easier and easier, more and more natural. As you now imagine yourself in July and August and now September. Now you're in September, taking care of yourself, doing this self caring thing. What's it like in September? What's it like around you? This behavior has become a habit so you can just enjoy the experience. You're doing it without thinking. It makes you feel good. It makes you happy. And now you're in October. And November. And December, taking care of yourself. As you return easily and comfortably to the solstice. Around the time of year that you started this new behavior and you are still doing this simple loving act. It is now built into the core core of your body, Built into the core of your mind. And now you're here next year having done this thing for a year. Notice how you feel. Well done. As you relax in the chair, taking yourself deeper and deeper. And now we're going to set a second intention for the year. And create another habit. I'd like you to imagine something that you want want to create, or a way in which you want to expand into your life. You may be imagining a thing or a move in your career, or an expansion of your family. So ask your intuition now, what is the next thing that I want to expand into? What's my next move? How do I want to grow? And perhaps even as you ask those questions, you are expanding. So notice where you are. Notice what you're doing. Perhaps your imagination is taking you to the fullest expansion of this idea, or just to the next reasonable move. No matter what you're experiencing, notice the details. Are you with people? What is going on around you? What exactly are you doing? What are you creating? And how does it feel? Could. And now I'd like you to imagine experiencing this expansion in February or one month in the future. Move yourself along the timeline so you are one month in the future, expanding and creating. Notice how it feels to expand in February and allow yourself to relax into it. And now you're in March. Growing, expanding. Solving problems, learning, doing. And now you move forward to April. As you expand your life, your career, your creativity, notice what's going on around you in April. And the more time that passes, the more relaxed you're becoming. The more time that passes, the more easily you expand as you go deeper and deeper. You are creating the neural pathways of expansion. Now imagine you're doing this thing in May. And now in June. You're now at the solstice and you're still expanding, creating the next chapter of your life. How does it feel to do this six months from now? How is it different? How is it the same? Notice that the more you're expanding, the more relaxed you're becoming. As you go deeper and deeper. And now you're in July and August. Notice what the weather is like. Notice where you are. It feels good to be expanding into your life, creating new things and experiences. The new neural pathways feel good. And now you're in September and October. You continue to expand and create, solving problems, Growing. It feels normal now. The expansion has a life of its own. And now you're in November and December. And as you move toward the solstice, now you are back here, creating and expanding. But it's next year. Notice how you feel. Notice what you've created. Feel the satisfaction of a year well lived. Good. You may find that you are attracted to this recording and enjoy listening to it on a regular basis. As you practice these new behaviors and deepen these neural pathways. And soon you'll find and perhaps it's happened already. These behaviors are feeling normal. Are habits, and they make you very, very happy. And now the chair is tilting backwards, flattening out, becoming a bed. You feel very good having practiced all these positive behaviors. And now it's time to rest. The screen goes off, The lights go out, And you close your eyes. As you drift. And float. It.
