On today's show we're going to explore some important Facebook updates that marketers need to be on top of, including a new way to massively increase the reach of your reels for discovery. Also a really cool messenger update for E commerce and local businesses. I think especially you'll be to take advantage of this some AI powered ad updates that we'll tell you about and we might have a little celebration here or might just be me because one of the most annoying features on Facebook is going away. My name is Jerry Potter, host of the Social Media Marketing Talk Show, a Social Media examiner production where we break down all the latest social media news and what it means for marketers like you. Well, if you use Facebook's Professional dashboard and the insights that are on that, they've refreshed it to make it much, much more effective. This is one of those things they've kind of been building out over the years. So the update brings some of the key performance insights like earnings and engagement right to the front. And then they've also taken tools like Comments Manager that will now mirror what you see on mobile, which is always nice. If you switch back and forth a lot, it's frustrating. Or actually, if you don't switch back and forth a lot, it's always frustrating. If you work on one platform and then you go to try and do it on the other because you're out of the office and you're like, where do they have this? Also some new metrics, including views over time, view rate and retention, so you can really see how your content is doing in some new ways. And then also some other features that are coming soon. One is data exports, which is great, and then the other one is bulk uploads. So if you have ever been frustrated trying to upload your videos one after another after another, bulk uploads are supposed to be coming to professional accounts on Facebook soon. So I am definitely looking forward to that. All right. A new way to reach dramatically more people with your reels. So reels have always been great for discovery, reaching new people compared to some of the other formats on Facebook. And they announced the expansion of Meta's AI translations. It's a free tool that will automatically dub and lip sync your Facebook and Instagram reels into another language. But the beautiful part about this is not just like, okay, now you'll do it in another language. It will still have the same person's voice and it will actually alter the video so that their lips also match the movement of the new language. So this is one of those things I remember, I don't know, a year and a half ago at Social Media Marketing World, we were talking about, okay, this is coming, this is coming. And it's slowly been starting to show up in different places and getting better and better. But now Facebook is including this with Facebook reels for free. Now, there's a couple of requirements to know about. I'll tell you about here in just a second. To launch, it supports English to Spanish and, and Spanish to English, but obviously lots more languages are going to be rolling out. So who has this and who doesn't? If you are on Facebook, as a Facebook creator, you have one of those accounts and you have over a thousand followers, you're good. But it's also available to all public Instagram accounts. So as long as your account's not private, you're supposed to be seeing this in there. So really, really impressive. How Fast. This is moving. And the fact that they're doing this now, of course, as I've been watching some of these things roll out and thinking about my own business and my own clients, I've always been thinking like, well, the reach is good unless there's nowhere for them to go afterward. So imagine adding Spanish to your business and then, you know, you give them a call to action and they go to your profile and they go to your website and everything is in English. They don't speak English. Well, it's, it's, it's a lot of friction there at that point. So it'll be interesting to kind of see where this goes. But it would be worth, I think, at least playing with if you've got the time, because you will be able to see the breakdowns based on what language the view and everything else came in. Okay, so it's not just like, oh, wow, I, I did see my views go up 10%. You should actually be able to go in and see, oh, okay, I got 10% more views. And they all came because I dubbed this into Spanish, for example. And by the way, Facebook pages can also have a feature that's sort of related to this where you can upload 20 custom dubbed studio tracks for a reel. So if you don't have access to the language you need yet, this is a way around it, or if you've tried some of the other tools, then maybe they do this better. Well, now you can do this to up to 20 custom dubbed languages on Facebook business pages. All right, all right. Lots more important updates to talk about. Some of these are AI related. And one of the questions that we've been having or discussions we've been having a lot is what is your AI readiness level? So businesses will be able to send timely updates about order confirmations, appointment reminders, account alerts. And the best thing about this, if you've ever tried to set up a Messenger subscription for business pages and things like that, the rules have always been so I used to spend so much time studying them and trying to get them right, I'm like, I'm following all the rules. Of course they kept changing the rules as well. The beautiful thing about this is it's done through pre approved templates so it's much easier to be compliant with all of Facebook's platform policies as you are doing this. And by the way, this is replacing the existing message tags to kind of make things a little bit more streamlined so you can look for that. It's available now for developers and businesses in interesting how they're rolling this out. It is available here in the US as well as the Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam. So you can check all of that out. And a Messenger feature that is going away. I actually had this pop up on my Facebook account this week, Community chats. So chats that are linked to Facebook groups they've announced are going to be permanently deleted. Now you can, if you have some and you've been using them and you want to archive them, you can download your messages from the chat in the account center. But they've basically encouraged people to keep using the group on Facebook to stay connected with your community. So for me this is always really annoying. I never actually used them and so maybe they were really useful. They obviously weren't getting used enough for them to keep the feature around. But I just kept getting notifications. You've been added to this group chat. You've been added to this group chat. And it's like, no, no, I, I don't need that. You know, as a marketer, as a business owner, I am busy enough, thank you very much. All right. Some ads updates first with Meta Partnership Ads, they have now added some enhancements to the Partnership Ads API. So if you're using a third party tool through the API to manage your ads, including AI Recommended Creator content now services top performing branded content for partnership ads. So that's one thing you'll be able to do among a couple of other updates. So some things that previously you couldn't do in third party tools are now rolling out and Meta made a big announcement about a suite of AI powered ad and commerce features that are all designed to boost holiday sales. Now marketers are primarily the only ones thinking about the holidays already here, but obviously they are coming up real really fast and they say these are designed to boost holiday sales through revenue reels creator integrations, creative tools and omnichannel shopping experiences. So a few of the highlights creator +reels integration so businesses can now filter creators when you're looking them up in the creator marketplace by language and region so you can find people to work with a little bit faster. Also Reels enhancements they have shoppable reels ads now with catalog integration. Those are starting to roll out. You may not see them yet. And Instagram reels now support video based carousel ads and apparently in the testing of this they've shown an average of 7% conversion lift which is substantial if you're doing volume. So that's really cool. Omnichannel ads are now available globally with Advantage plus with those creative optimizations. And if you are interested in using Shops ads in more places, Shops ads are now expanding to Mexico, Canada, Germany, France, Spain, Italy, Italy and Japan. And then email signup offers are now rolling out to be more broadly available on Facebook. So always good when the tools and the features that are working become available to more people and in more places. All right, important update to the brand rights protection tool. I swear I get asked about once a week from somebody where they say, hey, how come people can just mention other brands in their content? Is that legal? Is that not legal? And as a lawyer I always say I cannot properly answer that question for you. However, Meta has this brand rights protection tool that now allows all enrolled businesses to report a suspected scam ad at scale, even without explicit use of their intellectual property. So basically you'll be able to go in and report ads that are misleading, exploiting your brand name without authorization. The tool also supports advanced search and filtering. Now in the Reports tab you can search and filter by email IDs, keywords, trademark names, report owner names, among other things. So you can watch for that. All right, quick reminder.
