This week on Speculating Wildly About Crime, Jamie and Kristy discuss the 1980 disappearance of 44-year-old Bill Schnackel from Phillips, Wisconsin. Bill, described as kind and hardworking, lived in an old school bus and earned money hauling trash and scrapping metal, sometimes with his roommate Michael Winters. Bill was reported missing on May 20, 1980—over a month after Michael claimed he last saw him on April 16—and Michael said Bill went to Chicago to collect an inheritance, though Bill’s aunt said there was no money and she was in California. Michael was seen driving Bill’s prized truck, gave conflicting explanations about being in the woods, and later moved back to Palm Springs. Investigators searched the property and nearby areas without finding Bill, arrested Michael in 1983 for murder, but he was found not guilty and records of the trial are missing. The hosts urge anyone with information to contact the Price County Sheriff’s Office at 715-339-3011.Sources:The Tomahawk Leader NewspaperIronwood Daily Globe NewspaperThe Evening Telegram (Superior, WI) NewspaperForgotten Wisconsin Cold Cases: William Schnackel - The Bus in the Woods https://share.google/lbwHOpffnCnOujN2thttps://www.wsaw.com/video/2024/07/05/price-county-man-william-schnackel-lived-bus-woods-went-missing-44-years-ago/Shoutouts:www.wisconsinshistory.comSupport the showJoin our Discussion Group- (4) Speculating Wildly About Crime (SWAC POD) Discussion Group | FacebookFollow us on Facebook- (4) Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100093283626257)Follow us on Instagram: Instagram (https://www.instagram.com/swacpod/)Follow us on TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@swac.pod?is_from_webapp=1&sender_device=pcLink to You Tube: (4) SWACpod - YouTube (https://www.youtube.com/@SWACPOD)Music licensed from Premium BeatGroovy by INPLUSMUSIC

Jamie, Kristy, David (Surviving-ISH), and Jenny (Unholier Than Thou/Unholier) share their top 3 moments from the Real Housewives of Salt Lake City franchise. Some moments include: Angie K’s season five “scroll” confrontation with Meredith, Brittany being caught recording and denying it, Mary’s “hospital smell” comment, and Brittany’s outrage over Angie bringing wine to her Bible study. They discuss how Brittany’s behavior and religious fence-sitting affects the group, debating whether she’s “fake” or “empty,” and whether Angie’s wine gift was passive-aggressive. The group highlights Jen Shah’s season two Sprinter van arrest and its aftermath, Lisa Barlow’s “gout dick sucker” insult at a party, and the season four Bermuda finale where Heather reveals Monica as the faceless account Reality Von Teese with “receipts, timelines, screenshots.” They close by sharing thoughts on Monica, praising Mary’s season five return, and comparing which cast members they each resemble.Support the showJoin our Discussion Group- (4) Speculating Wildly About Crime (SWAC POD) Discussion Group | FacebookFollow us on Facebook- (4) Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100093283626257)Follow us on Instagram: Instagram (https://www.instagram.com/swacpod/)Follow us on TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@swac.pod?is_from_webapp=1&sender_device=pcLink to You Tube: (4) SWACpod - YouTube (https://www.youtube.com/@SWACPOD)Music licensed from Premium BeatGroovy by INPLUSMUSIC

Jamie, Kristy, David (Surviving-ISH), and Jenny (Unholier Than Thou/Unholier) return for a “palate cleanser”. This time, our SWAC Unhinged episode will be focused on The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City. After introductions and Jenny’s background as a survivor and podcaster, they acknowledge the tragic death of Mary Cosby’s son Robert Jr., reflecting on his on-camera discussion of addiction and mental health and the realities and stigmas families face. Shifting to lighter Housewives talk, they debate favorite cast members (including Heather, Mary, Whitney, and Bronwyn), discuss how deconstruction and cult dynamics color their view of the show, and count down memorable moments such as Heather’s black eye tied to Jen Shah, Meredith’s season-one mask, Lisa’s “Away in a Manger” choir audition, yacht drama (including shoes and a tossed unicorn), the Milwaukee trip, and Lisa’s Zion hot-mic rant. The episode ends teasing Part 2 with their top three moments and housewife comparisons.Support the showJoin our Discussion Group- (4) Speculating Wildly About Crime (SWAC POD) Discussion Group | FacebookFollow us on Facebook- (4) Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100093283626257)Follow us on Instagram: Instagram (https://www.instagram.com/swacpod/)Follow us on TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@swac.pod?is_from_webapp=1&sender_device=pcLink to You Tube: (4) SWACpod - YouTube (https://www.youtube.com/@SWACPOD)Music licensed from Premium BeatGroovy by INPLUSMUSIC

Jamie and Kristy revisit Ashley Summers’ disappearance as the Cleveland case timeline intersects with the May 6, 2013 rescue of Amanda Berry, Gina DeJesus, and Michelle Knight from Ariel Castro, ultimately confirming Ashley was never held in the home. They cover the hope sparked by a 2015 FBI tip and ATM surveillance photo, including a Dr. Phil facial recognition analysis suggesting an 80% match, which was later ruled out when the suspect was identified as someone else. They also discuss and eliminate possible links to several offenders (Elias Acevedo, Eric “Big Willie” Wilson, Anthony Sowell, and Israel Keyes) before focusing on concerns around Ashley’s uncle Kevin, including revelations about a broken phone story and his later arrest and conviction for long-term sexual crimes. The episode closes with theories—foul play by someone she knew, trafficking/kidnapping, accident, or suicide—and a call for tips.Sources:Disappearance of Ashley Summers - Wikipedia ASHLEY SUMMERS — FBI "Disappeared" Edge of Fourteen (TV Episode 2018) - IMDb https://open.spotify.com/episode/4OfxijQc0vGfcK2vwNBVfp?si=d5f835b412874d19Ashley Summers: Gone On The 4th Of July – The Unfound Podcast Channel https://www.tiktok.com/@mommy4lifeof3/video/7206354192619867435?is_from_webapp=1&sender_device=pc&web_id=7618400034345731598https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uPoA2f11UPkAdditional Sources:Help Find Alexandria Lowitzer - Missing Person KBAA | Memorial and Advocacy Bracelet | Alexandria Joy Lowitzer - Etsy Support the showJoin our Discussion Group- (4) Speculating Wildly About Crime (SWAC POD) Discussion Group | FacebookFollow us on Facebook- (4) Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100093283626257)Follow us on Instagram: Instagram (https://www.instagram.com/swacpod/)Follow us on TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@swac.pod?is_from_webapp=1&sender_device=pcLink to You Tube: (4) SWACpod - YouTube (https://www.youtube.com/@SWACPOD)Music licensed from Premium BeatGroovy by INPLUSMUSIC

Jamie and Kristy cover Part 1 of the disappearance of 14-year-old Ashley Summers in Cleveland, Ohio, in July 2007. They outline Ashley’s strained home life with her mom Jennifer, her relationship with 16-year-old boyfriend Jean Gill, and how she began staying with great-uncle Kevin after conflict at home. Ashley had previously run away in January 2007. Her last known day is disputed (reports range from July 4–8); she was reportedly seen at a family birthday party on July 4 and said she was walking to Aunt Chris’s house but never arrived. Kevin later claimed a fight occurred and he broke her phone before Ashley packed belongings and left. Jennifer didn’t realize Ashley was missing for days due to family confusion, filed a report July 9, and police initially treated it as a runaway. A month later Jennifer received a brief call from someone she believed was Ashley. In 2008 the FBI reexamined the case due to parallels with nearby disappearances of Amanda Berry and Gina DeJesus. Jamie and Kristy continue part two of their coverage of missing 21-year-old Jason Landry, focusing on the body-cam footage from the crash scene near Luling, Texas, and the late-night calls to his parents. They discuss concerns about the scene being treated as a simple impaired-driver accident despite Jason’s clothing and belongings left in the roadway, and detail what happened after his family arrived, including locating his phone at the impound lot. The episode covers subsequent search efforts (including drones, dogs, divers, and draining a pond after cadaver dogs alerted), evidence handling issues like untested fingerprints/DNA, and a geofence warrant that produced no leads. Jamie and Kristy review reported sightings and explore competing theories, including head injury/hypothermia, feral hogs, and potential foul play.Sources:The Unending Disappearance of Jason Landry https://youtu.be/3uAt_dnRuFA?si=NVgmXU_YlAuZJhqJDisappeared - S10 E4 The Long Drive Home - ID GO 21-Year-Old's Car Found Abandoned. Jamie and Kristy begin Part 1 on the disappearance of 21-year-old Texas State student Jason Landry, who vanished on December 13, 2020 after leaving San Marcos around 11:05 PM to drive home to Missouri City. Using his digital footprint, they trace him through Martindale to an intersection near Luling where he should have turned toward I-10, but instead continued onto dark rural roads; his phone activity ends around 11:24 PM and his crashed Nissan Altima is found at 12:31 AM. Police later locate Jason’s clothing laid out methodically about 900 feet from the car, plus his backpack containing his wallet, laptop, PlayStation, a deceased fish, and a pill bottle holding eight rolled joints, while his phone is later found wedged in the car. The trooper suggests substance influence and a possible hit-and-run, raising questions about head injury, hypothermia, and investigative gaps.Sources:San Marcos, Texas to Missouri City, Texas - Google MapsSEARCH FOR JASON LANDRY: Raw Facetime video of Landry talking with friend | FOX 7 AustinDPS Trooper Body Cam at Jason Landry Crash SiteThe Unending Disappearance of Jason Landry • Jason Landry /// Part 1 /// 860 Disappeared - S10 E4 The Long Drive Home - ID GO 21-Year-Old's Car Found Abandoned. Jamie and Kristy revisit the 1980 disappearance of 14-year-old Laureen in Manchester, New Hampshire, joined by returning guest Missy Reese (Raven Knight from Darkwoods Paranormal) and Laureen’s longtime friend Lori. They recap that night Laureen vanished barefoot from her mother’s third-floor apartment after friends had been drinking there. They discuss the conflicting longtime claims about late-night phone calls and the initial “runaway” framing. Lori shares first-hand context about the neighborhood, and details about the place Laureen was living at the time. The group also goes into detail about the family dynamic Laureen was living at the time including inappropriate adult behavior. The group argues the case likely involved someone Lorraine knew and urges listeners to report any information to help renew investigative attention.Links: Sign the Petition for Laureen:Petition · Reinvestigate the Laureen Rahn Disappearance - United States · Change.orgReport any tips:Laureen Rahn | New Hampshire Department of JusticeCheck out Missy's Podcast:(4) Darkwoods Paranormal - YouTubeSupport the showJoin our Discussion Group- (4) Speculating Wildly About Crime (SWAC POD) Discussion Group | FacebookFollow us on Facebook- (4) Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100093283626257)Follow us on Instagram: Instagram (https://www.instagram.com/swacpod/)Follow us on TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@swac.pod?is_from_webapp=1&sender_device=pcLink to You Tube: (4) SWACpod - YouTube (https://www.youtube.com/@SWACPOD)Music licensed from Premium BeatGroovy by INPLUSMUSIC

Jamie and Kristy revisit the infamous disappearance of Ohio State med student Brian Shafer, last seen April 1, 2006 on surveillance at the Ugly Tuna Saloona around 1:55 a.m. after a night barhopping. They discuss new information highlighted by True Crime Garage and investigative journalist Kelly Bruce, including expanded phone-call activity, confirmation that Amber (one of the women Brian spoke with) was identified and knew Clint, and renewed debunking of claims that Brian couldn’t have exited the bar or died inside it. They cover unusual pre-disappearance finances, family stress after his mother’s death, rumors about Brian’s sexuality, notable sightings, and a recent detailed tip that Kelly and True Crime Garage have turned over to Columbus police for active investigation.Sources:https://youtu.be/mUoReRMQypk?si=WZnkS3ajpLq31Qnq True Crime Garage Coverage(6) Facebook- Brian Shaffer Dead Or AliveSupport the showJoin our Discussion Group- (4) Speculating Wildly About Crime (SWAC POD) Discussion Group | FacebookFollow us on Facebook- (4) Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100093283626257)Follow us on Instagram: Instagram (https://www.instagram.com/swacpod/)Follow us on TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@swac.pod?is_from_webapp=1&sender_device=pcLink to You Tube: (4) SWACpod - YouTube (https://www.youtube.com/@SWACPOD)Music licensed from Premium BeatGroovy by INPLUSMUSIC

Jamie and Kristy revisit the disappearance of 16-year-old Ali Lowitzer, missing since April 26, 2010, and interview her mother, JoAnn Lowitzer, about the case and its impact. JoAnn describes Ali’s last known plans to walk a short distance to work in daylight, the many leads pursued without answers, and deep frustrations with law enforcement, including delayed urgency, lost surveillance and DNA evidence, and limited investigative follow-through.
