Fourth flying all over the continent for this series. Yans, you've been in Florida. Soon you'll be in Nantucket. You're rich, you're wealthy. I'm very jealous of you. And I'll tell you right now, we're not dead yet, oil nation. We're not dead. We're close to dead. We're close to dead, but we're not dead yet. We have life. Guys. What's going on? Biz, talk to me. I need to hear your thoughts right now. I didn't mean to say.
Paul Bissonnette
I think we need to hear from Florida Panthers correspondent Keith Yandel because that was an absolute shit kicking in Game five that they delivered to the good. They're. They're a wagon and gans. I guess I'll start with this. Brad Marshaw, six goals in five games in these Stanley cup finals. He's now chasing Sam Bennett for the Con Smythe. They're competing with each other because it ain't going to be someone from Edmonton at this point. What is going on with this guy?
Keith Yandle
You? I don't know, honestly. The guy's been stuck in that shitbag town Boston for the last 20 years. Not. I know, I was kidding. But he comes down here, he gets a nice, you know, the weather's out, it's beautiful out every single day. He's driving his golf cart and the guy probably feels like he's 15, 20 years old. He's ready to go. I bet he feels like he's just starting his career right now. This is the first year of his career and I think you guys are nuts if you don't think he's going to reset, resign down here. He's staying here.
Biz Nasty
I agree.
Paul Bissonnette
I think he's.
Biz Nasty
Why would Bennett and him ever leave?
Keith Yandle
I know they should both. They're both going to have a statue after this series. Like the way that they are playing. It's unbelievable. Brad Marchant jump out of a cannon on that first goal. Like splitting D. Are they not Face off ready. I know Merle's invented face off ready. He wants guys ready. But what are they doing? Witty.
Biz Nasty
Well, mercy pod Colson had to take just a step in front of him. Like, that is being that now. I tweeted they want it more. Like, people like, you're an idiot. Like, what do you mean want it more? I'm like, I don't know, buddy. I'm watching the game. One team's ready to go. One team is not to me, that's wanting it a little bit more. That's being prepared to play. I, I, the Oilers played like, like actually shocking the way that they played. I mean, they, what did they. I think they went 15 minutes without a shot in the first.
Paul Bissonnette
I think 12 shots through two periods at home, maybe 11.
Biz Nasty
That arena. And don't say that the arena wasn't buzzing. We talked Toronto Yacht Club like, that arena was humming. The place was completely insane. Game five at home to take a stranglehold on the series. And you, you show up like that. I and this is every game to start. Every single game of this series. They can't start. Echo mentioned. I if we knew what it was, we'd figure it out. It's like, well, Matthias Ekom, who's been a rock since he got here, I think maybe his worst game as an Oiler I've ever seen him play.
Paul Bissonnette
Yeah, that was a tough one.
Biz Nasty
So I going back to what I'm beginning with is like, the Oilers played like trash. But I'm not going to say like, that, that, like the, the Panthers also were just at another level. Like, I'm not going to say they lost because they played like trash. I think the Panthers just were that good. They were that much better, that much more ready to play. And you're look, I'm looking at this team, it's just like, oh, my God, like, we've led guys 30 minutes of the series.
Paul Bissonnette
I mean, not good enough.
Biz Nasty
Three, two.
Paul Bissonnette
You can't, you can't keep chasing this team, boys. And you talked about the depth width. Like, can we bring up the stats? I, I think that their top three lines, everybody's. Look at this. Everybody's got 20, 18, 16. Like, this is a joke as far as depth. Like, this isn't something that Edmonton has. So you can't, you can't afford to start games. You know, 15 minutes in, like the pod thing.
Biz Nasty
Boys, look at Rining. Sorry. Biz.
Paul Bissonnette
No, the pod closing thing. Like face off for anybody. Listen, there's a lot of things I wasn't good at, but God, there's no way Brad Marshall has beaten me to that puck on when he. When. When my centerman snapping it back to the defensive side. Merls did mention like nurse on the left side, I believe should have pounced quicker, but I think that's all on the winger on the inside. All you need to do is just get in his lane and then poke that back to your defenseman. And then you mentioned echo Mike. I mean, how about the bait by Marshawn? He looks like he's going to go outside there and you right to the middle splits the D. And then that shot under pressure on Pickard. Now where I want to throw it over to you. Like I. I have loved a lot of things that knob lock has done throughout these last two runs. I think he's pushed a lot of the right buttons. I completely agreed with. With starting Pickard in net, he. He'd earned that spot. But not playing Klingberg, I thought was a mistake. You play Troy Stature under 5 minutes the game before. Before, like Klingberg's the type of guy where you could play 20 minutes and the more ice time you give him, the better he's going to play. And they need guys advancing the puck right now because they did a horrible job of it. I get that. Kaepernan only had four shifts in the second and third period of game four. He made that play over to Wallman in game four. He had one shift in the third period. The fact that they took him out of lineup is an absolute joke. Jeff Skinner should not be in the lineup. He's not a playoff player. He's not a playoff player. I agree with Arvidson being in instead of him and the other one. Like, I know Kane's taken a lot of stupid penalties and he. I feel like he played well in games one and two. Like he was solid. Maybe game two you could say, ah, a couple stupid penalties and maybe not.
Ryan Whitney
I.
Paul Bissonnette
If I'm knob lock, I'm calling them into the room and saying, listen, buddy, you've been brutal for half of this series, if not more. But we're not winning a mug unless you go on the second line and you demolish guys, you start making an impact around the net, you get in Bob's face and you start scoring some goals, they're not going to. So burying them and losing them in the series and keeping them on the fourth line, to me is the dumbest thing you could do, right? It's the dumbest thing you could do. Why would you lose him? And I know that he gets a little bit poopy pants and. And the fact that he's on the fourth line, he's not playing. He's not one of those guys who's kind of not going to not complain, but they don't have a chance to win if they don't have him on the second line. He needs to be there. Am I wrong here?
Biz Nasty
100%.
Keith Yandle
100% right.
Biz Nasty
I the Klingberg thing, I kind of understood game four, right? Like and then stature, you see stature. He turns that puck over to Verheagy G. That was game three. Now.
Paul Bissonnette
No, it was game. I believe it was high sticked in the head.
Biz Nasty
It was a penalty but whatever. I'm not going to fuck it. I'm done. The refs, you cannot say any part of this series has been directed or controlled by the refs. I'm not doing that at all. That was a penalty. But they won the game. So Stetcher doesn't play another shift. He doesn't play in the second, third or overtime. How do you not go back to Klingberg at home now unless he's injured and we don't know. But you have last change. You have the ability to get him out there against the third and fourth line. And offensively, like you mentioned, he can make a tape to tape pass. They couldn't. I don't. I'm game five. I don't know if they made two passes in a row. I swear to God I was string came over for it. Keith, Billy, Ryan. I'm watching. I'm like. We're just both like. This is, this is. This isn't even the same league. These two teams. Which Florida has the ability to do. And I'll blame you biz a little bit. You had these guys dead. It was two nothing in after games two in Toronto. And then what were you up two nothing in game three you had three one.
Paul Bissonnette
We were up three one.
Biz Nasty
You could play Mitch Marner.
Paul Bissonnette
You can play Mitch Marner, not me.
Biz Nasty
Ok. So going into game five, all right, I got. I got no thought in my mind. Kaepernance coming out. Dude, you're talking and then you see how the game plays out. No energy, no speed. And. And you have Kapanen out. He buzzes around and yes, we saw the success he had and then he kind of turned into all right, I think I'm a first liner again. No, no, no, he had to get the pee pee whack, buddy. You're a fourth liner that's playing with Leon. And Pod Coles in some of these rounds and games go back to being the fourth liner playing with Leon. But he made that assist to Wallman. He could have shot that puck. It was a beautiful play. To take the lead for three in game four. And he comes out. I, I, yeah, I'm with you, dude. I'm with you. I don't understand.
Paul Bissonnette
My biggest gripe with Knobloch is I feel like he's afraid of confrontation. If he's, that, if he's that upset with Kapanen, call him in and fucking give him a pee pee whack. Because you're not winning unless he's in the fucking lineup. Jeff Skitter is not going to bring you a Stanley Cup. I'm not trying to fucking like sewer this guy, but he just doesn't have the jam. Kapanen will come out of his shell in order to try to win a Stanley Cup. We've seen it. He's been beacon at them. He's been involved in scrums with them. Like he can at least pretend for a little bit. Call him in the office. Call Kane in the office and say the exact same thing. Get your head out of your ass. We ain't winning a Stanley cup if it ain't for you two elevating your play. And you, and you said it. Oh, we couldn't string a tape to tape pass. Well, you know what happens with Florida when sometimes they're struggling to make all those little plays. They just dump it in and they go get it. They can't do that. Yeah, they're missing Hyman. But they've been trying this the first game and a half. They, they kept stretching it and they were making, and they were making it work. They've, they've tried it since Paul Maurice has made the adjustment. And, and, and they keep, they keep trying the same fucking thing. They're playing right into their hand. No wonder they can't make a tape to tape pass. They're fucking way too predictable right now. And the fact that not only you're predictable, you're coming out with that type of energy and effort. I don't know, man. I don't know. And, and, and another thing too, you mentioned. Oh, like the puck moving defenseman and he's good on the blue line. They refuse to go to, to, to move it up to their D. Now, you could blame it at the fact that maybe they're a little Slow getting up to the line, but, my God, they need to go low to high, walk the line, try to get some through and. And open up some seams. At some point, they're making it way too easy on Florida. But listen, all this.
Biz Nasty
One goal in game five against, like, you know, McDavid wins a battle on the wall, gets Dupashard. He makes a beautiful pass. At that point, it makes it 3:1. They're sort of alive, but boom, what happens. Two of the best players on the Panthers make an incredible play. What, two minutes later, that Barkov play on Perry, how easily he stole the puck. And that is not a shot on Perry. Like, I. I really think, like, anyone in the league right there is getting dominated by Barkov. It was just the easiest stick check, and then a perfectly patient, weighted little sauce to Reinhardt. Reinhardt then eyes up. Doesn't even take a second. He actually did wait a split second and just rifles that thing right where Marshawn scored the other side of the net, right where the crossbar meets the post. And you're like, holy fuck. Like, this team. And you showed the lineup stat the night they. I looked at the top nine scores of their nine forwards. It's like, Evan Rodriguez is number nine. He's got 15 points. Like, I looked at that yesterday. I saw that tweet that you put up. It's like, how are you supposed to beat this team? Team?
Paul Bissonnette
You know what's even crazier?
Biz Nasty
Beat that team.
Paul Bissonnette
You know what's even crazier is those are all forwards, but they also have 18 goals by defenseman this playoff, too. So you want to talk more depth, it's fucking. These guys are a wagon.
Biz Nasty
18 goals by the defense.
Paul Bissonnette
Yeah. Seth Jones has four. Ekblad's got four. Schmidt's got three. Like it. Do we have a list of all the D men who have scored?
Biz Nasty
No, no. It doesn't even matter because what.
Keith Yandle
What it comes down to is just that these guys are buying in. You look at, like, if I was. Knob block. You go over, you go. You call Skinner or Kane in, and you say, hey, look at number 63 on that team over there. He's been a first. First line player the last, what, 10 years? I know Marchie had to grind on the third and fourth line when he was younger, but he's arguably a Hall of Fame player, and look at him. He's happy with playing in the third line, happy with helping out these young guys. And look, he's going to win a mug, and he's going to win A Con Smythe probably. Like there has to be that certain. And maybe it comes from the players too. Maybe McDavid has to do it or. Or Leon. Like it has to come from within where you're like, okay, you know your role. You know what you're gonna do if you are in the fourth line, like you said, you can't be poopy pants. Especially when there's legitimately there could be one more game left in your season. You could never be back in this position. A chance to win a mug. Like it's never taken for granted. Obviously with Conor there, like you expect them to keep coming back, but these guys have to buy in and be ready to go whether they're on the fourth line or the first line.
Biz Nasty
I will give Skinner credit game for him. Henrique and I was it. Who was the other winger? They had a good lot. They had a good game. Now, yeah, you look at Lundell, looser, Ryan and Marshawn as the third line, not a third line. Now, I think Marshawn partly, like we were talking about, about his play off the face off right now, not only was it the first goal he got, his other goal was off a face off. 2 goals off of 21 face offs. 1 of them in the offensive zone for the Oilers. And he is just ready and he's beating guys and. And then I also wonder like, because he's with Luster, Rynan and Lundell, who are two of the most solid defensive forwards you could imagine in the NHL, right?
Ryan Whitney
Oh, there's the demon.
Biz Nasty
He's. He's almost able to cheat a little bit and he's cheating off those face offs. Like I've heard people say, like the ref needs. It's like, buddy, like he's getting the perfect hop off the jump. Like the winger on the winger next to him pod calls in on the first one. You have to be prepared. Like looking at him and it literally takes one step. You just get right in front of him. He's not going anywhere. It's your ice, but you're kind of sitting there, you're not ready and you think it's going to get snapped back and you can figure out your forecheck or your. Your neutral zone. Regroup. No, Buddy, this guy is pound pouncing on pucks and part of it is Lundell and loose to Ryan. All right, I'll be back. They know he'll be back. And so when. That's your third line. And then I. I was talking to Pasha at the game, at games three and four. And, And Bill, at watching at my house, game five. Like, I watch Reinhardt, dude, he is so fucking good at hockey. And I'm talking you. You take. You take all the skill and all the skating and everything you talk about that McDavid possesses, which is some of the most amazing things to watch you could ever see in the game of hockey. Reinhardt, he's just in the perfect position. Every time there was a play on the wall, he's going against Dry settle. What does dry Settle? Probably outweigh him by 20 pounds, maybe three inches on him. He just perfect position with his stick. Boom, Steals it from him. It's like they have Reinhardt, they have Barkov, then they have L. And Lindell Marshawn. We haven't even mentioned Bennett. Sometimes you're just like, tip of the cap. Yeah, tip of the goddamn cap. That's why I'm not. The Oilers had a horrible Game five. But I, I wonder, like, is it just Florida? Like, they're just relentless. There's just no ways to beat them. And then when you do get the through the forecheck and the forward, the third man, always high, you have D who could skate. And that's my next point. Gustav Forsling. This guy, three teams got rid of him. The Blackhawks, right? The Hurricanes. I think he was drafted by Vancouver. I don't know what they were missing. I don't know what teams didn't see. Did you see the penalty kill that they had? They went up one.
Paul Bissonnette
Nothing. This I was going to bring.
Biz Nasty
Dude, you guys did a hell of a job on tnt. Biz Forsling broke up three plays.
Paul Bissonnette
His no stick for one of them.
Biz Nasty
Exactly. Exactly. And I'm watching this guy skate. He's in McDavid's face. He's cross checking Perry at the end of that. And it's just like, I, I, this team, they're one of the best teams I've ever seen. This ain't over, though. It was never, ever, ever going to be easy. Am I stressed to the max? God, yeah. Am I panicked a little bit? Or Sheezy, as some of the kids say? Am I giving up? No. Sidney Crosby went down 3, 2. The first cup they got in 09 against the Red Wings, and they now, granted, they were going home for game six. It can be done, but God damn it, does it look difficult? And it's not even just game five. It's the fact that this series could be done. I mean, dude, they were down three one, game one.
Paul Bissonnette
Do you think if McDavid scores that early, Goal. Things are different.
Biz Nasty
Yeah, I do. And what's weird is we talk about the brutal starts. Game three, I mean, game. Game three, four, five, really. But in all the games, they've had a chance really quick. I don't know if you've noticed. If you remember game three, they had a really good chance. Bouchard from the point, right? Like, first shift, 20 seconds in game five. McDavid has that two on one. And like, yeah, if one of those goes in, especially in the. In. In the Oilers building, like, it's a different story. But after the quick start, 30 seconds in, in all these games, it's just.
Keith Yandle
It.
Biz Nasty
The ice is tilted. It's. They're taking penalties. They're taking stupid risks, stupid decisions. Matthias Ekholm on that Bennett goal. You're up. You're down one nothing in the first. Like, get out of the first period, right? No, buddy, you're on the wall. Like, you have to make a hard play there. And he makes this soft little play like, six feet in front of him. Boom. It goes to Bennett, over to Tkachuk. Shot block back right to Bennett. And Matthias Yanmark, who's been an incredible player for these two runs, he is standing there. He's watch. Bennett is right behind him. He's just looking at the puck like, buddy, head on a swivel. Like, this is a couple minutes left in the first period. You're at home, you're down one nothing. That's your man. Puck goes right to him. Like, if you're just head on a swivel, you're not worried about the puck at that point. And it's little errors and it's little errors, and then sometimes it's just the Panthers and their will, and this team is. They're infuriating to play against.
Paul Bissonnette
I was pretty impressed with the way they handled, like, all the press after game four, and then just how loose they were going into game five. Like, they showed shots of the tunnel, and it was Marshawn who was leading the way, like, doing all the handshakes and stuff. And that was a team that looked really loose and confident coming in. And actually, I was supposed to meet, like, I was going down to go grab a steamer, and Brian Boucher was going. I ended up just going to take a nap because I was so tired. Because in the jw and you know how nice that gym is, and they have that whole spa area. Well, he ended up going down and. And sure enough, every single member of the Florida Panthers in there having a steam together, like. And after that, they all go to dinner together. This is just a group that is so tight and united that they just have a, A brother, a brotherly bond that's really hard to break right now. And, and if I'm a betting man, I think that they're going to learn from last year and close out in six. I just, I don't, I don't think this thing's going to seven, unfortunately. I think that they're just too prepared. They're. They're too, they're, they're too on their game right now. And with the injuries that Edmonton's had and the way that they've been playing and starting games, I just see this being the straight up anaconda chokehold that we're used to seeing.
Biz Nasty
Now back to Toronto. Nobody thought that they could get it done. Game six in Florida, right? I mean, it's over with this. It's not over. It's not biz. Everyone said the exact same thing when Toronto was going back there. Everyone did.
Paul Bissonnette
Toronto's got a better roster right now than the Edmonton Oilers.
Biz Nasty
Yeah, buddy.
Keith Yandle
You guys should, you guys should mix your teams.
Paul Bissonnette
I'm not even trying to stir it up right now, man. I think when you guys law. You guys know Hyman, you got Kane on the fourth line. You're not playing. Klingberg like to tell. Call the Knobloch and tell him to make the fucking change. You should be having zoom calls with Kaner and Kapanen. You. You have the ball.
Biz Nasty
I think, I think, I think Klingberg will be in. I think Kapanen will be in. And we're going back to Stuart Skinner. And Stuart Skinner has a chance to become a legend in Edmonton for the rest of his life. Now can he go? Can they go steal a game? Boys, Everyone thought they were dead in the water. Game five back there last year and they dragged him back to Berta. Okay, they could do it this year. Does it seem possible right now to most hockey fans? No. But if you've watched the Oilers the last four years, when whenever you think they're dead, they come fucking storming back and somehow shock the world. Now you get to game seven, it's a coin flip. I'm going to call it a coin flip. This game tomorrow night, this is it, dude. And I said it was a McDavid legacy game. In game five at home to take control of the series, he scored a beautiful goal. But he's outscored 6 on 6, 635 on 5 in this series. I'm not going to sit here and Say like he hasn't been good. He's been good. But I think, would you guys agree watching the game?
Paul Bissonnette
Like, I, I think that, I think that Florida is dictating exactly where they're giving him his ice and I think that he's being a little bit too predictable. I thought that those power plays you talked about were, were Forsling and Eck plaid were doing an unbelievable job. They look like a one trick pony. The biggest compliment I've given the best power play units in the NHL for the last three, four years is when something's being taken away, they rotate, they figure it out and they go exploit another area. I feel like Colorado is one of the best at it. Obviously Edmonton, there's probably a few other power plays that you can mention besides that that are tops of the league that do that. Specifically those two teams because they have the personnel in Bouchard, Dreidle, McDavid, Perry now in there for Hyman, which like I said, I still think that there's such a, a, an insane loss because of the forecheck and other components of the game that he brings. But I was so disappointed they had an opportunity to make that game two one a few times with those two early power plays in the second period.
Biz Nasty
One one and even one one earlier. Their power play.
Paul Bissonnette
Yeah, right, because they did have that one in the first period. But it's been a little bit disappointing and, but, but that said though, as this series progressed, like you see them like all of a sudden like earlier and earlier in games, they're starting to go to dry. Sidle and McDavid on the same line where in rounds before this they've been able to keep them separate and, and it was like a well oiled machine and you got those two guys driving their own line. So their team is just so good defensively and they have an answer. And if it's not the Barov line, it could be the Bennett line. And I with the matchup that the third line gets like I had a, a shift clipped, but obviously the, the goal ensued and then much more ensued in that first period. But there was a shift. At the 16 minute mark they put out the third line of Marshawn Luster rhythm and they hemmed them in for 45 seconds, took the momentum and they never gave it back. It's there. Marshawn's ability to, to hold on to pucks down low in the ozone, which haven't seen a ton of sustained pressure by Edmonton wearing them down. There's no really investing in games here He. He grabbed and they lose it. Who's the first one to go get it back. Little reverse hit, gets it back, keeps it alive. Low to high, and they just continue, continue. And then because they're such a giving team and they set their. Their. Their teammates up for success, the next lineup, you get the offensive zone change, and they're breathing down their neck again. So it's just. I just feel like their. Their mindset and everything else included going in is just so much better right now. But because like you said, they have dry Seidel and McDavid, it's never technically over. And you keep saying it, they're going to have to go all world nuclear in a game to fucking get it done. Well, they better have it game six, because it ain't. It ain't going to be the rest of the guys getting it done.
Keith Yandle
I think last game, too, with not having Skinner in Pickard, he didn't even come out of the net to try to stop any puck. So it was just the amount of extra time Florida got in there in their own end just from not having a goalie coming out and stop the puck. Like, Skinner does a really good job at it. I think you have to go back to him with that. And yeah, like you said, Biz, anytime that you have those two guys on your team, they can win a game. It's either that or they're counting down their days in Edmonton.
Biz Nasty
I do think that. Well, Leon signed. I do think that Skinner plays it that much better. I think Hank had said that originally where like a team with this forecheck, you almost. You almost need the help of a goaltender who's very good at playing the puck. Skinner's going to be back in game six. I was kind of shocked that they didn't pull. All right, so game four, they pull Skinner after the first period, and Pickard comes in, plays phenomenal. They're down two nothing after game five. Pull picker and put Skinner back in. Like, seriously, this team's obviously a circus. Like the Orange are. It's put them back in, and then I think maybe he stops Marshawn's third. I mean, obviously, this is a total. Like, you're looking at all these different things now, and it's.
Paul Bissonnette
Wow, he's actually. I think he's been scored on four of the five breakaways so far in this series.
Biz Nasty
I know, but, yeah, the only one that did score similar to the double OT winner, actually. But I tweeted out. I tweeted out as, is this the best? Marshawn's ever played. I. I've watched him in Boston for a long time, and like, yes, he's been an incredible player, a superstar. And then things have taken a little bit of a dive as he's older, and the Bruins weren't as solid this year, and he's coming off three surgeries. I don't ever remember this. Somebody said in the old. In the 2011 cup run, it was very similar. He gets the puck every single time. I'm like, oh, this is. This is going to either be a chance or a goal. And he's just. He's. He's on his toes. He's. He looks like Keith said, 20 years old. And. And part of it is the matchups, and part of it is who you got to worry about on the first and second line, if you want to even call them that for Florida. That's not a third line. Lundell loose to Ryan and him. And. And then I go back to kind of. I go back to Zito and what he's done with this Panthers team and how he gets Bennett. What was it, a second rounder he traded for him and how he gets to Chuck when he realizes Uber Doe, he doesn't really want him there. He gets Kachuk and what he. How he gets Jones and how he gets Marshawn for a second rounder now a first in seven years. Whatever. Master class by the GM in Florida. Masterclass. My old agent, Paul Kropelka, he's a part of the crew there. He was with Carolina. They put Forsling on waivers. He said, get this guy I watch. He was in the AHL where Kripelka was running that team. And he's like, I just watched this guy all year. He. He's. He's incredible. Get him. Grab him. Put in the waiver claim. Look at him now. He's the best defenseman on that team. They have ead. They have Jones, they have Mika. It's Forsling.
Paul Bissonnette
I think you could say. I think you could say Forzing is now, like, has surpassed Slavan as the best defensive defenseman in the league.
Biz Nasty
I would say that he's like, Duncan, Keith.
Paul Bissonnette
Like, I know that put him at the top. No.
Keith Yandle
Oh, Slavin's a. Yeah. I'd say they're 1A, 1B.
Paul Bissonnette
Look at this guy. They're all of them. All the Oilers are suffering right now.
Biz Nasty
Yeah, I. It's just like, God damn it. You go. You go against this team, and you somehow win game one, and then game two, you barely tied up late, but you get the loss. All right, game three, let's show up. Pounded game four, down three. Nothing like this series is as close as a three two even makes it seem. That's what, that's. That's the one thing where I'm like going into game six, I'm like. It ain't like we're dominating games and losing.
Paul Bissonnette
We've been pretty critical of Edmonton. There's only one guy who could bring our spirits back up for the Edmonton Oilers, though, and he will be joining us.
Biz Nasty
We need him. All right, hold on. I'm sorry, guys. I'm all over the map. I got to get in some ads before we bring stuff on. That's okay.

Wow, that's cheap. Yeah.
Biz Nasty
I mean, I think in Edmonton it would be way, way, way, way higher because we care more. But the Panthers are an amazing team and their fan base own, by the way. Quickly, quickly. I was getting all sorts of heat from me waving goodbye and saying, see you Tuesday night back for Game 6 in Florida.
Paul Bissonnette
You're rude.
Biz Nasty
You're an asshole. That's how you win, buddy. We lost game three. I had at least 50 Panthers fans flipping me off. You win. Nice ears, scumbag. That was me at the end of game four. Yeah, I'm waving goodbye. I'm waving goodbye. See you guys back here for game six in which I thought we'd be able to win the Stanley Cup. But I was get. This is. This is one tenth of what I.
Paul Bissonnette
Was getting when you guys.
Keith Yandle
And you handled it well the game before with, like, really well. You were taking it on the chin, like days at Houston.
Biz Nasty
What would you do? Pale big ears. Suck it.
Keith Yandle
That was me.
Biz Nasty
I'm sorry.
Keith Yandle
I'm sorry.
Biz Nasty
Goodbye. After.
Paul Bissonnette
I would say that that was probably the. The. The most I've ever seen you be a fan.
Biz Nasty
Like, you went, I lost my mind.
Paul Bissonnette
Went full biz. Leafs mode. Delusional. After that game four where apparently before.
Biz Nasty
The game, I was flipping.
Keith Yandle
Apparently you were saying song over and over. I was sitting next to him in the bus. He played the same song over and over. Which one?
Paul Bissonnette
The Pony Club.
Biz Nasty
Yeah, Pink Pony.
Paul Bissonnette
It's an unbelievable track.
Mike Grinelli
Pink Whitney Club.
Biz Nasty
It's a great and biz. Even before the game, like, I was. I kind of snapped on Grinnelli at Earls, right? I was. I was all over. I was all over. Keith Murls was pissing me off. Men verse Boys, dude. Men versus boys. I bet the Oilers. Why you mad at me? Then, like, the comeback began. I'm booting these guys out of the box because they weren't there for the second and third goal. I said Memes came in in the second intermission. He scattered out like a little mouse. He was, like, dropping things. I was trying. I was basically kicking Memes and Grinelli out. But, yeah, I lost it. And then, like, at the end of the game, like, my emotions took over. But I'm not gonna apologize for waving goodbye to that arena. After the names I was called. Father's Day was coming up. My kids had. My kids could have heard you. Ugly with the big ears.
Keith Yandle
Sorry. What am I sorry for saying?
Biz Nasty
That I ate it, too? I sat there.
Keith Yandle
How about the early celebration? When I caught you with the early celebration?
Biz Nasty
It wasn't me. It was Jesse.
Keith Yandle
It was both of you. It takes two to give a high five.
Biz Nasty
No, no, no, no, no, no, no.
Paul Bissonnette
Let's explain what happened. Let's explain what happened. So oilers take the 4, 3 lead. Okay?
Biz Nasty
So I would.
Keith Yandle
I was in the box the whole time, sitting on the car. I swear. I swear to God. I went down. Like, I left for a minute, but I was talking to. To Judd Hull. So sitting there talking to him, like, the entire game. And I. I go stand up to see, you know, the last 20 seconds and wit. And what was the guy's name?
Biz Nasty
Jesse.
Paul Bissonnette
Jesse.
Keith Yandle
Yeah, Jesse, like, all right, we're going back. We're going.
Biz Nasty
No, no. Jesse goes. We're going back tied. And I'm just like, high five. But I didn't really hear him that well. He just like. And then Keith's like, early Celly. Early Celly. I'm like, wait, what did you say? What did you say? He's like, I'm. I said, we might be going back tied. I'm like, did you. He's like. And I could tell he didn' he did not say might. And then, boom. Reinhardt's ties it up. That was like. I'm like, we're done. So when. When, when, when. When Leon scored that goal, like, my emotions. Like, I almost ran over two Little kids. Those poor kids. They were Panthers. I tried running them over. I'm just so weak. I couldn't even knock over a seven year old. But the. My emotion and my anger and I just. I apologize. I sent a group an apology text. The chicklets chat. I said, guys, I'm a Paul. I gotta apologize for my behavior during the day of game four. I am completely lost in the sauce of this series. I can't stand the Panthers. I can't stand their fans. I need to see the Oilers win the Stanley Cup. And then game five happens and I'm just tail between my leg on the couch after like this, shaking my head. What do we do? How do we beat him? I don't know if we can. McJeezus has to do it. Leon has to do it. Where the hell is Kaepernick? Why isn't Kane flying around? What goalie are we going to play? What is the coach thinking right now? Why does our power play stink? I don't understand what's happening. Why is Coleman yelling at the Panthers bench when he makes it 4:3 instead of just going to his bench and celebrating and trying to close out a victory in game four? I don't get why did Hyman get injured? Why did Hyman get injured? Why did Hyman get injured? Now Nuge is injured. I don't get this. This is unfair. I don't like the Panthers. I hate my life. Oh, it's Father's Day. Happy Father's Day. Thanks kids. Love you.
Paul Bissonnette
I've wet great little rant there. I've completely written off the Edmonton Oilers. But if there is one way that they could pull off this series, I think they need to send in our next guest for a pre game speech to find them up for game six.
Keith Yandle
I think you two need ayahuasca this summer.
Paul Bissonnette
There he is right there, ladies and gentlemen.
Biz Nasty
The staff monster life we're alive stuff. I'm going to need a video of you walking down the beach similar to your walking down the Runway before the Vegas series before tomorrow's game.
Ryan Whitney
Oh, I'm only allowed to do that once a year, fellas. Sorry, I may have used that juice already. So. That was brilliant stuff, you guys. Firstly, thanks for having me on, Ryan.
Biz Nasty
It was.
Ryan Whitney
It was tough in there in game five and sometimes you just have to know, like, you know, you guys had me on before Vegas. I talked about Keller McCrimmon and how well built that team is in Vegas. And then you were kind enough and couldn't find anybody better out of Edmonton and Abby on before Dallas and we talked about Jim Nil and what a great organization I got. But these guys right now, the Florida Panthers, they're in the Stanley cup final, they're in the Calder cup final.
Keith Yandle
They're the standard.
Ryan Whitney
You know, they're sitting there with seven guys that played in the four nation space off and I'm going to throw one at you here in 19. They're the first team since the 1980 New York Islanders to have nine players with 15 or more points. And they did something similar to what the Islanders did that year. And I remember this as an Edmonton kid growing up knowing that the Oilers were going to evolve into a pretty good team at that time. But they made the trade to get Butch Coring and Butch ended up winning a, you know, a con smite for them and he was huge part of their success when they won their first cup in 1980. And I looked at that Marshawn trade and that line has been the killer in this series. And so you guys are right. You know, there was probably seven of last nine periods. Florida's been the better team. Edmonton's going to have to channel whatever they can to find a way to. But it is hockey and the orders do have a couple terrific players that can flip things. But the orders are playing, let's face it, they're playing a wagon. They're playing a really well run, well structured team and every line plays the same. They're tough to beat.
Paul Bissonnette
Florida, I know it's hard for you to be critical staff. I've been very complimentary of knob block and all the right buttons he's pushed throughout these two runs. I just was not crazy about those lineup decisions going into game five. Like I, Klingberg should have played. Why did Kapanen not play? Why?
Ryan Whitney
I think the concern was that there were some defensive challenges at times and it is from a capital. I will say this would not surprise me if Kapanen's in. Paul and I wouldn't be surprised if Klingberg's in. I think when you have, when you get beat the way Edmonton got beat, I know that the orders ended up with score effects out shooting Florida by the end of the game. But Florida were the better team and they were in control that game. I, I, I could foresee some changes and I'll just cut the chase here. If it's me, I'm starting Stuart Skinner. You know, you think you have to.
Paul Bissonnette
Yeah, I think they got some shots. They got some shots in junk time. There was three minutes left in that game. And Edmonton had only put up 16 shots on that and they'd had three power plays. So I get what you're saying. By the end of the game I believe they out.
Keith Yandle
We all watched the game. It was fucking domination.
Paul Bissonnette
It was domination.
Biz Nasty
It was domination.
Keith Yandle
You can't put number under the hood numbers Poshest.
Biz Nasty
Let me ask you a question about the power play because I think it's 17% in this series but that's just not what Oiler fans are accustomed to seeing. And it's. It's obviously like eye test not working specifically game five there it seems like they're not like switching up Biz mentioned like they're not going to maybe a different formation. And what I want to see is McDavid on his strong side when he's playing downhill. He gives it to Bouchard, he walks the middle. He gets up towards the blue line, he flies. He's get getting the puck, going downhill with speed. That hasn't happened as much as he's over on the flank and then looking for Leon down low on the offside. Do you think they try something or is it just this Florida PK is that good and dialed in Brian, who's.
Ryan Whitney
Got the best penalty killing him on solid teams in the playoffs? Florida.
Paul Bissonnette
Okay.
Biz Nasty
And the most goals in the playoffs.
Ryan Whitney
The last. I'm just going to pull it up here. The last two years the winners are well for there's seven for 47 the last two years in the final 14.8%. Now here's one for you and it's one of the regular stat sources that's available. Paul has access to it. I don't know if you guys do, but he certainly does through tnt. New Jersey had the highest expected goals on the power play during the regular season at 10.3 per 60. Okay. They had the. So they created the most chances the orders in this series despite the fact that their first power play was terrible in game five. It was bad. Like they just had nothing going. The orders power play in this series in terms of expected goals for is at 14.4 per 60. There's a, you know, there's a. Hey, I'm telling you Florida's outplayed Edmonton. I'm telling you Florida has been the better team. But I'm going to tell you right now the orders have been unlucky not to have created a little bit more on the power plate based on those numbers.
Biz Nasty
Well, that one shift in the first they. Or was it this? It was the second. I believe they did have. I don't know if you remember that PK biz. They had a million chances and then at the end it ended up being deflected out of play. But as that power play got on and I think it was a minute 40, the four killers were stuck out there. I'm like, this is it. They got to get one here. And it finishes with a puck over the glass. But that's probably the power play that you could say was at least dominant and gave them the opportunity to score the first period one. That's, that's disgusting to me because that crowd is electric. They got nothing going in the start. You get this chance to tie it up and that's what we see. It's like, I don't know. I, I, I'm wondering stuff. In your opinion, these starts that they've had where Ekholm is saying, yeah, if we knew what was up, we'd be able to fix it. Is that on the coach? Is that on the leadership? Because this is five games in a row where you're, you're not ready to play or maybe four games in a row. Yeah.
Ryan Whitney
Cause they scored a minute and a half in a game one. I mean they, they're giving up, they've given up at least two goals in all five games the first period. Like there's no, I mean, you guys all play. There's no recipe to success when that happens. I think there was a little timidness because they, they've taken a lot of penalties. I think they've had 14 high sticking penalties in the series. Florida's had two. It's been unreal. Which is a sign sometimes maybe they're arriving a little late. Right. On plays, trying to make hits and that sort of thing. I, I was a little concerned. You know, they skated a couple days in a row down here on the, I'm just gonna, I'm trying to remember the days. I guess it would be Tuesday and Wednesday.
Paul Bissonnette
Yeah, they had a full practice where they told media that they weren't gonna skate, which, well, I don't know.
Ryan Whitney
Actually tech, that actually technically was an off day and the guys all decided, you know, but 16 of the guys side of the skate. The day before they had a full practice. So, you know, it's, it's, it is again, I don't want to make excuses. Like I want to acknowledge how good Florida's been. I think we know that. I also want to say it's the best of seven. It's the best of five. And there have been a couple occasions where teams have Been up. You know, I can remember the New Jersey Devils being the reigning Stanley cup champs in 2000. They're up three, two, Colorado one game six one game seven in the series.
Biz Nasty
And if I recall correctly and Tampa wasn't Tampa down 32 to Calgary. And they were going on the road too.
Paul Bissonnette
They were.
Ryan Whitney
That was the, that was the year where there was the disputed Jela goal and overtime.
Paul Bissonnette
It was a goal.
Ryan Whitney
Martin Jelena, for completely useless superfluous information. The only man ever to play a playoff game for Edmonton, Calgary and Vancouver. You can test your kids at home.
Paul Bissonnette
Fun fact from stock stuff. What, what are you the most disappointed in outside of the starts? What are you the most disappointed in from the Oilers thus far in this series? Like where are you?
Ryan Whitney
Like why Biz. I thought, you know and, and Ryan brought it up before just the Hyman factor. Like I think given how deep Florida is, Edmonton needed everybody going and again it's, it's not an excuse but like I'll just, I'll. I'll like or Reinhardt got nicked up in round three, early in round three I think against Carolina, like if they don't have Reinhardt or Chuck, one of those guys and the orders have Hyman, it's probably, you know, just given again they've got seven guys that played in the four nations face off amongst their nine forwards, the only two that didn't are Verhege who's been one of the best playoff scorers in the league and Rodriguez who's a very effective utilitary, you know, utility player for them. So I think that, you know, I, I was hoping some other guys would pop up here. They had secondary scoring in the last couple rounds against really good teams against Vegas and Dallas. Those were good teams and those are teams that know how to win. Like with all due respect LA, they have won a playoff series since 2014. The orders have beaten them four years roads, you know, L.A. is not quite over the hump yet learning how to win. Whereas you look at Vegas and Dallas, those teams know how to win in the playoffs and Edmonton's depth scoring showed up in those series and it hasn't against Florida. But I, so I guess I'm a little disappointed because you need to be able to score 5 on 5. The other part of it is Bobrovsky's at 9:31 5 on 5 save percentage like he's locked in as well. So I think the biggest thing for me Biz is just you wish the power play was better. They're creating chances but they're not scoring. And it's been two Stanley cup finals in a row that it's been an issue. And number two, you were hoping for more five on five scoring, but when you look at the caliber of a Florida team with seven guys played in the four nations, their, their top nine is really good. Like, it took Jack Michaels and me. Like I was thinking about, I, I grew up watching the orders of the 80s. I'm like, I don't ever recall the orders having nine forwards with 15 or more points in the playoffs.
Biz Nasty
And they never did.
Ryan Whitney
They never did. Right? So again, the Islanders were the only team that we could find in the last 45 years. And Tulare, you know, Popfin and Stefan Person were the two of the defensemen. So this, this shows you how good this, this Florida team, this organization right now, they're the standard. They're the standard.
Biz Nasty
And you, you, you make great points. And that's why Biz, like, when you say what's most disappointing about the Oilers, I understand that, like, game five, that was, that was easily the most disappointing game. But I don't know if it's the Oilers just failing and choking or it's the Panthers are that good. Like, it, it's hard to be like, looking at the Oilers right now and be like, oh, my God, this is pathetic, because they're, they're playing against one of the best teams I've ever seen. I, I, I, you got to give credit where credit's due. And the Hyman factor, if you were able, if you want to put Leon and McDavid together and then throw Perry on their right wing, that still leaves Hyman with Nooj. That's the, that's the problem is, like, when you put those two together and maybe throw Perry or Brown with them, then it's Nuge, and you're like, it's just such a loss that I'm not making an excuse. It just sucks. It sucks for Oilers fans. It sucks for their team. And I'll, I, I, I think it does bring up the point biz that you mentioned about Kane. Like, Kane's gonna have to play on a top two line on Tuesday night, and he's gonna have to play a hell of a.
Paul Bissonnette
They gotta put him on the second line. They can't keep fucking around. I know he's taking some stupid penalties. They gotta put him on the second line.
Ryan Whitney
Yeah, I think there's a, you know, that's probably a probable, you know, possibility that ends up occurring here. Just, just again with Florida. So Zito comes in As a guy that worked on the agency side of the business, I think with acne, if I recall correctly, before he went to Columbus. But they have, Paul Fenton's been a GM in the league. They have, you know, Rick Dudley, who's been a GM in the league, you mentioned Kripelka. And they've got Sonny Maida, one of the best, like this. Like, you look at what they, I bet Vinny Viola the night that they had the orders 85 reunion and they were putting, you know, they had some hiccups along the way. But what they've, what they've achieved as an organization, like, they're really good. And I'm going to say this right now, it's all about Game 6 for Edmonton. We know that. And then trying to get to game seven. That's an absolute pivot. But there's been moves made to address some things that didn't pan out July 1 by Stan Bowman during the year. This is going to become Stan's team. He built three different, you know, certainly two different, I don't know. Some people might debate how much of the 2009, 10 was Dan Bowman's team, but he built different types of championship teams in Chicago. And I'm fairly bullish that the orders are going to be a better team next year than they are right now because I don't see Conor going anywhere and I don't see Evan Bouchert going anywhere. And if the orders have McDavid dry settle and Bouchard, that's about as good a base as anybody's got. So I, I, as much as you're nervous about being down three, two, there's 30 other GMs in the league that wish they were in the position of Stan Bowman and the Edmonton Oilers right now. There's 30 other franchises. Yeah, you got to take like Whit, you got to take a little bit of heat and crap from fans giving it to you for be an orders. Just an oily guy just like Whit has to or just like Biz has to do with the Leafs. But at the end of the day, it's been an incredible run the last couple years. Just go, just go out there and play your ass off and see what happens.
Biz Nasty
Exactly. And that's why I'm not, I'm not saying this is over. It's an enormous mountain you got to climb. And if you can win one, though, can we all agree it's a coin flip? I don't care who's playing game. Sevens are coin flips.
Paul Bissonnette
There's going Seven.
Biz Nasty
All right, all right. Say what you want but you said that Toronto could win game six. I don't know why you think that Edmonton can't win game 6. Regardless, I want to go back to Lundell too. And I think in 2020 it was still Dale Talon but they took Lundell. The next pick was Seth Jarvis. And I think as time's gone on it's like oh, I don't know Seth Jarvis, four nations member for Team Canada. But you look at Lundell, I think he fits in better with Florida than Seth Jarvis would. I think Seth Jarvis is at a much high level scorer but you look at this team and how he plays. Now if Lundell's their second line center and Bennett isn't there, are they the same team? Not even close. But he fits in exactly where they needed it to be.
Paul Bissonnette
And maybe he signed. He signed through 2030 for 5 million bucks a year like he's.
Ryan Whitney
But.
Biz Nasty
But if he's your second line center you're not the same team. And if Bennett leaves, he will be.
Ryan Whitney
But yeah. Do you know who had the 14th pick? Edmonton. Did they took hallway?
Biz Nasty
Well, I'd love him lineup right now.
Ryan Whitney
So I mean I almost. It was hard. There was a piece written in the athletic about the best value contracts in the league. Brian McLeod was the best value contract at Buffalo. Holloway was and Broberg were Both listed with St. Louis. At Fogle, who was listed with LA. I mean that's.
Paul Bissonnette
I know, I know you guys think McDavid's sticking around. I think that in the last few years like they've done a good job of putting some band aids on mistakes. I think they stayed, they fumbled the situation a little bit. The fact that like they got Jeff Skinner making 3 million bucks like you're telling me you can't bring back Holloway. Like what the fuck's going on here?
Ryan Whitney
Yeah, well there was, you know I have a lot of the key. I mean you guys have got a massive platform. We have a small little show at Edmonton that does okay. But we have Elliot on and Frank Siravali and Pierre lebron and Brian Lawton who's about as connected as anybody. And all I can tell you is I can 100% guarantee that there were people in the auditors organization that had communicated that they believed that there was going to be an offer sheet as far back as November of 2023. There's. There's only one way I can 100 guarantee it but I know it so you can figure that out. So yeah there, you know there were and, and I guess this is going to be, you know, coming up, this will be Bowman's first. July 1, his first course of action. Biggest course of action was getting dry. Settle, done. The guy signed an eight year extension and then had the, you know, was the best skater in the league this year. There's no dip like he was second and hard trophy voting behind Hellebok. And now this summer, Stan gets to work on the privilege of working on the McDavid and Bouchard deals. And I think Bouchard's finally silenced. Like, you know, like, like at the end of the day you're both, you know, Keith, you and, and Ryan were offensive puck moving defensemen, right? And sometimes when you're in those roles and you're not sitting there skating through drilling guys and, you know, being cycle stoppers defensively, there's a nuance to that role that not every fan appreciates. They want to see defensemen blowing guys up and, you know, blocking shots with their face and stuff. But the toughest thing to do is to make a five foot pass and create transition and create offense because the hardest thing to do in hockey is score. And that's what Bouchard does. And so those two guys, McDavid and Bouchard, both represented by Wasserman, Jeff Jackson's former agency, they're going to be a big part of Stan's work in the off season. But there's no question that if hands and butts were candy and butts with what happened last year, July 1st certainly played a factor in sort of the course direction that the Oilers had this year.

Paul Bissonnette
Oh, I was going to pregame speech.
Ryan Whitney
I'm not going to, I'm not going to give you the lights because you.
Biz Nasty
Can'T tell me who you want playing together.
Paul Bissonnette
I might, I might.
Ryan Whitney
You know what? Maybe you just have to play best on best. Like I might go down that path. You might have to go down that path. And just a little.
Biz Nasty
I agree.
Ryan Whitney
That's, that's the one thing. And I am a firm believer that coach less is more with coaches in terms of motivational.
Paul Bissonnette
I mean, I, you know, I come.
Ryan Whitney
On as a guy that works for a club. I can't sit there, talk the way I do with my buddies at the bar. But I'm, I'm like, get the point across in 15 to 25 seconds and let's go. And which is why I think Corey Perry has been so effective. It is like, it's, it's been incredible, guys. At the end of the day, you're looking at a 40 year old guy that's got 10 goals in the playoffs and just. I can't. Like last year he had one. I can't believe how much he has impacted the team in a positive fashion. So just go out there, win the next shift, win the first period and go from there and see where it rolls. You've got some great players. You got a really good team. We know how good they are to go win the day. That's what it's all about.
Keith Yandle
Mac, you sound scared. Stuff. You sound scared.
Biz Nasty
Don't listen.
Paul Bissonnette
Stuff's never scared. He's always even keel.
Ryan Whitney
I'll tell you this, I'd stretch you out, no problem.
Paul Bissonnette
Oh, yeah. Hey, so I actually have one last rollback question because that one you kind of, you kind of dodged it a little bit. Now I asked Whit this exact same question and he said no. If you had the ability right now to take Hyman's injury and that way he would have a healthy arm and wrist and he could go back in the lineup for game six and of seven because you probably think they're going to stretch at the seven. Would you take his injury and full recovery process? I know you bleed orange and blue. Would you take his injury for Edmonton, that city and that team and go to that personally? Yes. You literally have his injury and you have to go through the rehabilitation.
Ryan Whitney
I would block slap shots in the new to see the Edmonton Oilers win the Stanley Cup. That's all you need to know. And I was a lazy forward that never came back into my own zone when I played with Kurt and Ben.
Paul Bissonnette
They should put stuff in the lineup.
Biz Nasty
I agree. Imagine him as a net front guy. Oh, stop. Thank you so much. Hey, Stuff. It ain't over till it's over. It ain't over till it's over.
Ryan Whitney
Awesome. Hey, thank you gentlemen for having me on. Enjoy it either way, Keith.
Biz Nasty
Tell Jack Michaels great call on the Leon game winner, game four. That was awesome.
Ryan Whitney
He never hears that from me. Trust me.
Paul Bissonnette
Hey, and stuff. If it is your last.
Ryan Whitney
Thank you very much.
Paul Bissonnette
If it is your last appearance this season, bravo, buddy. You're a legend.
Ryan Whitney
You're a. Thanks a lot. Thanks guys.
Keith Yandle
Class.
Paul Bissonnette
What a guy. What a guy, that guy. How about the Nuggets that he brings, man?
Keith Yandle
Unbelievable.
Biz Nasty
I mean that Martin Jelinek playoff game, Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton. Boom.
Keith Yandle
I've been dying to know that stuff.
Paul Bissonnette
I love him. Oh, where do we go from here, guys?
Biz Nasty
So we actually have Steve Goldstein coming on in about five minutes. He's the play by play guy for the Florida Panthers. Great dude, awesome at his job. And I'm very interested to ask him a few questions because he was there for some dark days. He was there for a lot of years when the Florida Panthers had nothing. They've turned. He's actually ready right now. So why don't we bring him in right now. Steve Goldstein, who's been doing play by play forever, it seems like he's now finally getting to enjoy a dominant team, the best team we've seen in years. And what do you think on what you've witnessed last season and so far in this cup final, Goldie?
Mike Grinelli
Well, it's been amazing. I'm up here at my mom's house in Delaware beach for a little Father's Day. So you got me Florida style in the house. It's awesome. It's been incredible to watch. What you know, ownership from Vinnie Viola right on down to Bill Zito, his hockey staff, what they've been able to build, and of course the players. You know, when you have Barkov and Bobrovsky and guys like that that work so hard, you know, I thought last year I was telling her, hey everybody, enjoy this. This is once in a lifetime. And now 365 days later, here we are back again in 60 minutes away from another one. So I just so happy for all the die hard fans and so many people because I always knew, I always knew South Florida was a great hockey market. But you had to give a product and the last handful of years they've certainly done that.
Paul Bissonnette
I'll let you go, Yansy.
Keith Yandle
Goldie, I just like we've talked about the Marshawn trade so much, like till we're blue in the face, how did this all go down? Do you have any nuggets for us? Like it's, it was in the witching hours of trade deadline and all of a sudden boom. Brad Marchant, a captain of a original six team, a future probably hall of Famer, is on the Florida Panthers. Like, how did that all go down? I have no clue.
Mike Grinelli
Bill Zito, magic man. I mean, the first thing he did was convince Patrick Hornquist to waive his no trade to come to Florida. You know, and then they go and steal Bennett and they steal Reinhardt and they steal Montour. And I say, steel, no disrespect to those other teams, but Steel, Goldie Steele, no, you're giving up prospects and draft picks like, you know, Yuri Kulik, probably a decent young player for the Sabres, but Sam Reinhardt's already got a Stanley cup and 60 minutes away from winning another one. So, you know, Zito, I don't think ever Yance rules anything out. No stone unturned. And, you know, I guess the patience that they have and they wait everything out and they, they found out at the last minute that, you know, the deal wasn't going to work out with the Bruins. And sure enough, I mean, Paul Maurice was already, I think, packing up and leaving, figuring the deadlines over and. Hang on, coach, we can get Brad Marchand. Holy cow.
Paul Bissonnette
I think we, we often think recency bias with the Marshawn and obviously Seth Jones, probably one of the best deadlines any team who can potentially host the Stanley cup has, has had. I just go back to the Kachuk trade now. When you guys make that trade and he comes in, did you just notice a culture flip right away? And I know it was hard because you guys get rid of Huberto and Weger, who are very well liked here. I believe Huberdor had won some hardware that year or, or you guys had won the President's Trophy. So what was it like, his impact right away? And, and did you notice things that were just different?
Mike Grinelli
Yeah, it changed when he walked through the door. You know, it was a skilled team, it was an exciting team. They could score some goals. But when he walked in, you felt that playoff championship type atmosphere. He's that kind of guy. Let's go out, you know, old school, let's bang him around. Let's have fun doing it. You could tell the difference. He brought the juice. And there's another one, because I remember talking to Bill Zito after that trade was made, and I said to him, you know, like, you're kind of swinging for the fences on like a trade like that. Like, how do you, how do you go about it? And I'll never forget, he said to me, you think we're swinging for the fences? If you had the information and knew what I knew. That trade's not swinging for the fences. And remember, at the time, everyone thought they gave up too much, if we recall that. So he's got a different way to approach it. But yeah, biz to your point. Matthew Tkachuk is one of those guys. When he walks in, the whole mentality kind of changes, you know, and you drag a lot of other guys into the fight. As you guys know better than I do, you guys played. When you have people like that. And no disrespect for the depth players, but you want it to come from your best players. When you got your best players that have that kind of attitude, it brings everybody into it.
Paul Bissonnette
And. And I just mentioned the right G put in the chat here. He had 115 points that year. Hubert also, that's a. It's still a ball.
Keith Yandle
And he's beloved here. He was beloved here.
Biz Nasty
I know I. But that Zito, seeing that series against Tampa and being like, this is not a cup winning team. And that's not even saying anything about Huberdo. But he knew, like, the playoffs are different. Tampa had that tenacity, and I don't think he believed that. Huberto like has that in his game now. Amazing call, looking at it now. But then Reinhardt, you bring up Reinhardt. I said the other night to a Buddy, he had 58 goals. And then the next season he's up for the Selkie. It's like, this is the type of play, like, you know how crazy that is. That many goals in the next season, you're up for best defensive forward award. But I want to go to the D. And we talked a little bit before you came on about forsling it. It's insane. Like, he's just so good at skating and position and he. And he is not scared. When they picked him up off waivers, what did you know about him? What did you hear from the staff in Florida? And were you as shocked as everyone else when he immediately just kept moving up in the lineup and turned into their. He's their best defenseman.
Mike Grinelli
So he. He's a great example. So Bill Zito, and I'm guessing he's not fibbing on this, and I'm not sure who it was, but there was a couple of people, scouts, hockey operations that were banging their fist on the table. Zito's words, not mine. You got to get this guy. So he comes in. Joel Quinville, still the coach, if we remember. And I asked Joel, because he had him in Chicago and he Said all the physical talent in the world, he was great in training camps. Didn't always translate when the game started. So you're talking about a guy that was then in their mid-20s. I think Patrick Hornquist was a factor. A fellow Swede. He was already here. Gustav Forsling is probably the fittest guy in the NHL. I mean, you watch him, the guy never gets tired. In fact, guys, tomorrow night Reinhardt and Forsling are going to set the NHL record for the most games played over a three year period. It's going to be their 309th game. Mike Keane actually has the record from the late 90s, so he's played a ton of hockey. You know, chasing around McDavid and Dryside the last two Stanley cup finals. Not to mention Braden Point, Auston Matthews, all the other great players they play. I didn't know anything about him. Carolina has to be kicking themselves for putting them on waivers, especially since the Panthers have beaten him in two Eastern Conference finals the last three years.
Paul Bissonnette
Oops.
Mike Grinelli
He's just, he's just an amazing guy and he's a great player. And you know, the Panthers were able to figure it out. Someone in, in that hockey ops knew the guy and thought he had.
Biz Nasty
It was Kripelka. It was Paul krepelka who was 6.2.
Paul Bissonnette
Million too, for fuck's sakes. These guys.
Mike Grinelli
Well, let me tell you about Kropelka. If it wasn't Kropelko, you know, Kripelka will take credit for it being.
Paul Bissonnette
Oh, we got one of those on our staff.
Biz Nasty
Oh, Merles. Yeah, he. Merles created hockey. I don't know if you guys knew that he actually bent at the game.
Mike Grinelli
I want to know if you're going to wear Panther gear tomorrow night at Amari Pancreata. That's all I want. Come on, give me something.
Paul Bissonnette
I'm going to. And I'm going to mush you guys.
Mike Grinelli
Well, biz, you've been. Biz, keep doing what you're doing because you've been mushing us all along with all the Maple Leaf garbage. I mean, you thought they had it in game seven. Let's call. Let's call it what it is.
Paul Bissonnette
Oh, I love it. I love it. I love it. Your Panthers are loved.
Biz Nasty
You've witnessed since he became the first overall pick. When did the transformation in Aaron Ekbud's game really come where you're drafted first overall? In your mind you think you're going to be a 60, 65 point first power play defenseman, offensive stud, and then slowly you kind of realize, all right, maybe I'm a good offensive defense and I'm not an elite one, and I'm going to be a prick and I'm going to run people over. I'm going to elbow people in the head. I. I don't know when it happened. Like, you've watched it all slowly kind of change for him becoming a true shutdown guy as opposed to what he was drafted to be.
Mike Grinelli
Well, I'm going to stick with, with, you know, the Hagel hit was in the chest. That's my opinion.
Biz Nasty
And the steroids were fake.
Mike Grinelli
The. Why? I don't know anything about that. I really don't know what you're talking about here today. I don't know what's going on with you, man. Making stuff.
Paul Bissonnette
He's unchanged.
Mike Grinelli
I think when Paul Maurice came in, you know, he brought in this style. Mo made the great comment when we, the first day of the press conference. You know, we're not trying to take the Ferrari, you know, put it away, but we got to put snow tires on it in case there's some bad weather. You know, we got to just kind of dig it up a little bit. And I think Ekblad was a great example. That took him maybe half a year or a full year. And give Aaron Eckblad credit because to your point, Whit, he does sacrifice some offense to be that defensive player that he is. And I give him a ton of credit for doing it. And to have a guy of his size, his professionalism, remember, you know, playing in all situations. He's killing penalties. He's now back on PP1, if you want to call it that, over on that flank with Jones running it, I think in year one slash, year two under Paul Marie. So, you know, three years ago and two years ago, that's kind of when that transformation happened. And the guy, just like the rest of these guys, I know it may be cliche, they just want to win. Like, Barkov could care less that he doesn't have a goal in the Stanley Cup Final. He just wants to win one more game and raise that cup again. And I think Eplad's in that boat, too.
Biz Nasty
Barkov is very Zetterberg to me. Biz.
Keith Yandle
Yeah.
Biz Nasty
And even Datsuk. And Datsuk had a couple 90 point seasons. Same with Barkov. They didn't give a shit. They didn't give a shit about points. And they. And that's why they won those cups. And Barkov now, I mean, I watched that guy like, it's, it's Absolutely incredible. That steal on Perry and then that dish, it's like perfect Barkov. Not to mention he tried the between the legs goal. So you see what he actually could do. But he's never doing that unless it's the last possible option. He's a true leader. He doesn't whine. I've never seen him. And Keith, you played with them, Goldie, You've announced him. Have you ever seen that guy have bad body language? Oh, I didn't get the puck there. Oh, like crazy. He's just, boom. Head down to the bench, back on the ice, Head down to the bench, back on the ice. It's just professionalism and brilliant hockey.
Keith Yandle
Goldie, I had a question just for me outside looking in right now, it's when Bob's going, the team's going. And obviously when you have a goalie like Bob, a future hall of Famer, like, but it's his calmness that I see right now. Like, it's during warm ups. You see him making, you know, saves. You see him tapping guys on the ass during the game, during play. Like, does he bring a calmness to that group that is infectious throughout the entire, you know, crew?
Mike Grinelli
He does. And he, you know, he's always given the guys credit. You wouldn't know, okay, if Sergey Bobrovsky won game fight at Edmonton, Edmonton 48 hours ago or he lost 6 to 1 to Ottawa in January. Based on his body language and all, he's the same guy every day. And it's incredible because we know it's no secret, guys, early on in his Panther career, there was so much talk about the contract. He's not playing the way they thought he would play. Then all of a sudden, Reese comes in with this defensive system. There's a lot of predictability. He knows where the puck is coming from. But Yance, his calmness really does permeate throughout the team. And they know they can count on because he doesn't give up many bad ones. I mean, you could count on one hand the ones in the playoffs this year and even the last two years that you say, man, he's got to make that save. And when one of those does squeak in, which isn't often, the door is shut after that. So the other thing that, you know, people need to realize is the Panthers are so good. They're the best four checking team in the league. The ozone time is amazing as it was last game. Sometimes he stands back there, guys, for like 20, 30 minutes without, like, good scoring chances coming his way. Not every goalie can do that. But he's able to stay in the game. And I thought in game five he won't get a lot of credit because they didn't have too many shots on goal, but he's got Connor Brown, what, 40 seconds into the game, coming in on a breakaway, he at times Edmonton puts that pressure on, he makes the save. So he's been amazing and what a career if he can get one more win here. I mean, you're talking back to back cups for a guy late in his 30s at. It's amazing.
Paul Bissonnette
Goldie, I have, I just have a couple more. You mentioned his name earlier. Paul Maurice. Like, what's your relationship with like, like with him and. Or with, with him? Excuse me? Jesus Christ, spit it out, Biz. And like, what's it been like since he's been on board? Because I feel like he takes a lot of attention off the players too with his post game scrums and I feel like sometimes he's the focus, but he's almost like doing it on purpose and he just seems to be a joy to be around with his hot knowledge.
Keith Yandle
Kill you right now.
Paul Bissonnette
What's that?
Keith Yandle
Whit wants to kill you right now.
Biz Nasty
You got to tip your cow. I mean the guy, he owns us and he owns the league right now. What are you gonna do?
Mike Grinelli
Yeah, better if you tip the Panther cap with, but yeah.
Biz Nasty
All right, Goldie, enough.
Mike Grinelli
All right? What do you expect if I'm on, you know? You know, if I'm on, I'm gonna bring it, you know.
Biz Nasty
True, true, true, true, true, true, true.
Mike Grinelli
He's been amazing for like, as the play by play guy for the team. It's awesome. There's like anytime I want to talk to him, you know, and he knows more about hockey, you know, in his pinky than I have in my whole body, you know, explains stuff, gives you the information, like my job is so. And I'm not just, you know, BSing you. My job is so much easier because he's the coach. He talks to us every day, our entire script sports crew, you know, ask him whatever we want. So it's been remarkable and I'm happy for the guy because, you know, he's a grinder, man. He's in there and I guess as the players go, as, you know, for you guys, he's so good with the video, with the clips. Like, he doesn't keep those guys forever. He's showing them. Here's what we need to do. He's got the four or five non negotiables in the game. And I think he's a player's coach. You know, he lets his assistants do their job. He's not just joking around when he says, I don't have anything to do with the penalty kill. I left those meetings a year and a half ago, and they do their own thing. Same thing with the goalies. He lets Rob Talis and the goalies run their thing. So he's been amazed. And, you know, credit to Zito, too, and Matt Caldwell, the president, they interviewed a lot of people for that job. They left no stone unturned. And they figured that, you know, he was the right guy for that time. You know, them hiring Zito and then Zito hiring Paul Maurice. And it's been amazing that this guy can finally gets his. Gets his cup, and he's on the verge of maybe getting another one. I'm personally happy for him.
Biz Nasty
Goldie. It's an incredible squad. It's an incredible team, but it ain't over yet. And you know that. And one thing is that the Panthers, if they've struggled at anything, it's kind of closing series out when people think it's going to be done. You saw last year, three games in a row against the Oilers. You saw Toronto this year. I have a little life. Am I on life support? Yes. But I'm alive, so we'll see what happens Tuesday night. You must miss calling these games, though, huh? You get to call all the excitement, first round included, but then it turns into the national broadcast. You must be chomping at the bit to be the tv.
Paul Bissonnette
You must be doing a different. Like a. Like a team broadcast.
Mike Grinelli
No, well, I'm doing. I'm doing the games in my head. Of course, it's the, you know, drawback of local tv. But, you know, our script sports, you know, what we're on here in Florida, year one. These guys are awesome. So we're doing pregame shows. So at least everybody that's worked, all five of us on the broadcast, we're still working. And as you guys know, I'm doing the team stuff on the scoreboard and we're doing Instagram live. So I'm still able to. To be around it. But, you know, for many years, you didn't really think about it because we couldn't even make the playoffs or win a playoff game. So my biggest problem in life should be the Panthers keep winning Stanley Cups and I don't get to do the play by play. That should be the biggest issue that I have, you know, and the other factor, biz for you, man. We're all living tax free, baby. So that's a beautiful thing. I wasn't letting you off the hook, brother.
Biz Nasty
Hey, can you guys.
Paul Bissonnette
You sound like fucking Big Caesar. Now just.
Biz Nasty
Can you please stuff for me in a locker? Please? Please bring in another Dolphins player to bang the drum, because I think you're now 07 when Dolphins players bang the drum. So bring in Ricky Williams, have him smoke a big blunt.
Paul Bissonnette
I'll go down there with him and smoke one.
Mike Grinelli
That's a good name. You know, they. By the way, whoever's getting that stat out there, like they had like Mike McDaniel banged a drum in the playoffs and they won games. So I don't know where it really came from that they never win. When a Dolphin bangs it, I don't know what the record is, but they have one. A few to be. I don't want to kill the narrative.
Biz Nasty
Kill.
Mike Grinelli
Kill the fun. Stu. I don't know. Do you guys know who's banging tomorrow night? I have no idea.
Biz Nasty
If it's Yan's, I'm puking.
Mike Grinelli
It could be Yance.
Biz Nasty
Wait, it could be you.
Paul Bissonnette
Goldie, I just want to congratulate you. You've been with the team since 97, I believe, right?
Mike Grinelli
And you're right.
Paul Bissonnette
It's been an unbelievable run. How grateful are you to be a part of it and get to do what you. You love to do every day with now a Stanley cup champion team.
Keith Yandle
If the team was this good, he'd have his hair still. But the dog days, he lost all of his hair.
Mike Grinelli
Yes. I thought there was love.
Keith Yandle
You held on as long as you love gold.
Paul Bissonnette
I think you have a great bald head. That's a good bald head.
Biz Nasty
Settle down. Biz Tire pub.
Paul Bissonnette
Oh, no, we. He got muted.
Mike Grinelli
It's just been a lot of fun. It's been a lot of fun being around, you know, you just. You're happy for so many people, you know, like this. You know, you guys are around like the security people that are there and all, you know, sales people. There's so many people. And then of course you got like the equipment guys and those guys grinded in the medical guys. So it's been an amazing run and it's nice to see South Florida you got, you know, even south of the Miami Dade Broward line. You know, the city of Miami is all into it and the game is growing. It's. It's all. I still can't believe it. I still can't believe they're in position and not done yet. As Whit said, position to actually win back to back in the salary cap era in full 82 game seasons. I mean what they're doing is really unprecedented.
Paul Bissonnette
It is.
Biz Nasty
You're right. Goldie, we appreciate you coming on. You've been a the, the voice of the Panthers for so long. The fans love it. Couple clicks for him. It ain't over yet though, bud. It ain't over yet. We'll see you in Edmonton. See you.
Paul Bissonnette
Appreciate your time, brother.
Biz Nasty
Thank you so much. Thank you.
Mike Grinelli
You got to wear a panther hat.
Biz Nasty
With panther hat I don't think.
Paul Bissonnette
Not happening.
Keith Yandle
He played for them.
Paul Bissonnette
What a guy.
Biz Nasty

We got a little breaking news here, guys. And this is big, especially for you, Whit Biz. If Danny Malkin, according to Josh yo of the Athletic, will play his final season in Pittsburgh this upcoming year. And I have a Pittsburgh legend ready.
Biz Nasty
To join to talk about this.
Keith Yandle
Better not be Merls.
Paul Bissonnette
Okay, he's got his mic muted. Jesus Christ, get out of the Elbow Room. He's still muted.
Biz Nasty
This, this guy needs a body armor. Can't hear you. Not set up correctly. This is what happened in the elbow Room for the.
Paul Bissonnette
This is what happens when you spend a whole afternoon with, with Keith Kachuk at the Elbow Room, getting ready for Game 5 in Edmonton. So we're, we're gonna figure out his technical issues, but I'd heard rumblings that it was going to be his last season. So, I mean, fuck Gino. What a run, man. And Whit. So I, I think it, I think it was maybe you or somebody sent to the group chat that when they win their first Stanley Cup, I want to say Crosby was held to three points in that seven game series against Detroit. Who was their leading scorer in that Stanley cup final? Evgeny Malkin. Man, he, he, he, he brought the noise offensively. And I'll never forget that game he had against the Carolina Hurricanes in the conference finals where his family was in the building, where he had that behind the net. Like, no, like, no, look, backhand Spinorama top cheese. I think that was the hat trick goal. So. Damn, man. Like, I'm starting to feel old. I mean, this is a guy where. I went to training camp with the Penguins, it was after that season, and Frank Bonomo brought him in an envelope and we were riding the bike next to each other, and he looked at it, you could see that his mood changed. He was a little happier. And I go, what's that? He goes, check. I go, for what? And he goes, bonuses, bonus. Bonus. I'm like, let me see it. It was a million dollar bonus for all the stuff he'd done the year prior. So I think he went out and treated himself to a white Porsche that he was zipping around town in, in Gotham City, so to speak, in Pittsburgh. So. God, man, it's. I'm feeling old, but it's been a hell of a run. And I'm really interested to see his, his final tour. They got to make playoffs now that it's Gino's last year.
Biz Nasty
I don't know. Is he. Can we hear him?
Steve Goldstein
Hey, I don't know. Can you hear me now?
Ryan Whitney
We got him.
Steve Goldstein
My, My ears are ringing because you're talking about me. So much on the show. I feel like the Nikki spokes with.
Biz Nasty
Oh yeah, that's what a guy to compare yourself to. Good job.
Steve Goldstein
But I have. I was not at the Elbow Room yesterday. I've been in this room drinking the body armor Chill.
Paul Bissonnette
So were you there on Saturday with Keith Kachuk?
Steve Goldstein
No, I. I saw him when I was running by there. I've been doing the beach runs down here in this nice warm weather. So I, I've been. I've been playing it clean down here.
Biz Nasty
I remember Gino. My. My. My favorite memory of him is when he had five assists against the Maple Leafs and he smashed a stick like it's a 14 different pieces because he didn't score a goal after the game. Like you said, five apples. Just an incredible competitor. And you brought up the con Smythe in the 09 Stanley cup win. Their first. Crosby didn't even play the third period that game. And Malcolm was every other shift a force that entire series, especially the third period of game seven. A legit legend. And the coolest thing about Malkin, which is also reminded me so much of Dreidle in these years, is whenever Sid was injured, he reached another level. And Leon's kind of the same way with McDavid where like Sid goes down for, you know, I don't know, a month here and there. He had the concussion get the outdoor game against the Capitals and it was almost like Malcolm was like, yes, I get to be the guy now. Like he loved playing with Sid, obviously. Oh, the other great thing was his first game when like Sid always went last and he's like, no, no, no, no. Me last Russian Super League, more games, pro games played. It's like, okay, so Gino, the Russian bully on the ice, an incredible player. Merles, you missed him, right? Because I think it was your first year gone.
Steve Goldstein
Yeah, but I was so bad before that that we drafted him. So we got Malkin and Crosby because I was. But the reason I wanted to come on here today is it's funny you brought up Khan Smyth. I wanted to get your guys takes. It's really down to four guys on DraftKings sportsbook. You got Bennett -175 and you got Marshawn +400 if it's Florida is going to win it. And then you got McDave and dry pretty even if Edmonton can come back. So if it does end tomorrow, who.
Biz Nasty
Do you got winning it? No question. No question. Marshawn. Some of the best Hawk I've ever seen. This is Sam Bennett's trophy.
Steve Goldstein
Okay.
Biz Nasty
I think you're crazy. Breaks the record for most goals on the road in a Stanley Cup. Is a complete mental, physical beast on the ice. His. His interviews after. He's a sociopath. I texted the group. I think he's just telling himself, don't say I want to scalp and eat the people I'm playing against. Don't say, I want to scalp and eat the people. Playing it, like, just no reaction. You called him Hannibal Lecter on the broadcast.
Paul Bissonnette
He didn't like that.
Biz Nasty
Any team would have. Would do anything for this guy. And I go back to the shift in game three. I mean, he puts pod Colson. I'm surprised Paul Colson got up. And then he runs Klingberg and then pod goes and turns it over because he's coming at him again. And he buries a beautiful breakaway goal the way he's played on the road, which is the hardest thing to do in sports. Stanley cup playoffs on the road. I don't even think you could consider anyone else.
Ryan Whitney
All right.
Steve Goldstein
What if Edmonton comes back or will depend on who does the damage the.
Paul Bissonnette
Next two games dry. Seidel's their MVP right now.
Biz Nasty
Yeah. All right. Got eight points through five games in the finals. He's got the most overtime winners in the history of a Stanley cup playoff with four. It would be fitting if Pittsburgh went down three to two in the cup final in 09 and then they came back to win and Malcolm got the MVP that Leon Drais said it would do the same thing if the Oilers come back this year and he kind.
Paul Bissonnette
Of got snubbed on the heart.
Biz Nasty
I think big time. We can get into that now. It was announced Connor Hellebuck, winner of the Hart Trophy. We'd already seen, I think the week prior where Kucherov won the Ted Lindsay, which is voted on by the players. Crazy to me that Leon didn't get either, but the year he had, it's.
Paul Bissonnette
Because he tomahawks everybody.
Biz Nasty
I've been on record saying, like, I'm not really a huge fan of goalie winning MVP based on that. You're not playing every game now. Yes. The games you're playing, you're in the entire time. I. I think it was an incredible season. I think he's got now back to back Veznas, which will be his third. So I get it. He was amazing. I didn't agree with it. I don't know Merle's biz. Keith, what was your take?
Keith Yandle
I think. Yeah, I'm with you. I think it should have went to Leonardo But I think we talked about it with too. Wouldn't I'd rather win the Ted Lindsay where you're voted on by your peers. Like that would be the one I would want like just to have the respect throughout the guys that you're playing against every single night. No offense to the media because we are media. But yeah, I would rather the Ted Lindsay. I think that would mean the. The most to me.
Steve Goldstein
Yeah, I just think he gets hurt. Everybody still thinks like it's partly because of McDavid, even though he was hurt. But that's still in the back of their minds. Some guys that. Who we. Who'd you have on here talking and they were like, yeah, they don't know. They're like writers. They're not watching the puck. I think it was like bxa. He's like, if you really watch the game like a former player, then you know the real puck. So you get some guys that aren't following the league and. And they don't realize how good dry Seidel is.
Paul Bissonnette
Yeah, I mean he play. He plays a lot for like a modern day goalie, like number one, like more so than some of them. So I'll give him the nod on that. And also I probably don't watch him enough in the regular season where I see him come playoffs and I'm like, what? It's the same guy. So happy for him. A hell of a fucking regular season. Kind of fell off the rails a little bit there in the, in the, in the. In the playoffs. But I think if you're dry saddle, especially when McDavid went down and you elevate your play to that, to that level, it's hard to deny over 50 goals, man, that's like. That's a beast. That's a beast, like performance. And he. So he won't be bringing any hardware harm other than the Rocket then.
Biz Nasty
Yeah, right.
Paul Bissonnette
That's it.
Ryan Whitney
That's tough.
Biz Nasty
First team all star, which is, you know, when you look back later when you make those, those, those post season NHL all star teams, that's big time. But yeah, surprising that Leon didn't get either one of those. But congrats to Connor Hellebuck. I met him one time at the draft awards in Nashville two summers ago. Awesome dude. Like, yeah, he's a great guy. I thought he was really quiet. He wasn't at all. So very happy for him and hopefully cool video.
Paul Bissonnette
He was out fishing. They comes home and they surprise him with the Vesna and then all of a sudden, boom. Here's the Heart, too. So very cool. I don't know if you guys saw that. That'll be on all the NHL social media accounts. You can check it out online as well on their. Their website. So they've been. Do I. I like the way that they've done it. I think that those shows are. Are painful. Like, I just.
Biz Nasty
Well, you had to run one of them one time with your Brokeback Mountain outfit on. It's like, I think it's time to go to the videos, you know, like, yeah, yeah.
Paul Bissonnette
Well, they told me about that, like, two days ahead of time. So I'm like, oh, I'm gonna dress like an asshole and be an asshole. And nothing changes.
Biz Nasty
So in other news, similar video. Awesome way. Cale Makar won his second Norris Trophy. He's playing golf with his buddies. I believe his parents live on the course they went into. I don't know what. He thought the celebration was something for his parents. He shows up, all his family and friends have the Norris Trophy. Give him that. He's down with the dog. Very wholesome moment. You're watching a guy who, I mean, I think most people are saying is like the best defenseman since Bobby Orr. I think I argued with you, Biz. You can't consider that because of Nicholas Lidstrom. And now it's like, I don't know, man. Like, this guy's probably going to go down based on what we're seeing as a top two or three defensemen to ever play the game. He continues to do it in a very classy way. He seems like a guy who, when you talk about leaders who call out their teammates, like, yeah, that works for some people. I think he just shows up, dominates games, does it quietly, professionally. He's very friendly to media, very easy to talk to. And it goes back to the Merle's telling us the story that he commits to UMass under one coach. That coach leaves and he honors his commitment even with a new coach coming in. Very, very impressive young man. And the way he plays on the ice and skates is unlike anything I've ever seen.
Paul Bissonnette
Yeah, it's basically like the McDavid of defenseman. It's. It's like every fiber. That's true. It's every fiber of their being going into their craft. You're not going to get any calls, like early in the morning, like, hey, we got an issue here. Kale McCarr was out. No, he's in bed at 9:00. Yeah, you know, they ain't getting the Natushkin.
Biz Nasty
The chat's Saying that Merle's invented Makar.
Paul Bissonnette
No.
Biz Nasty
Yeah, he did.
Paul Bissonnette
Hey, all credit goes to you.
Steve Goldstein
My old roommate Benny Barry, you know, he helped him with his development. So I kind of had a smart.
Keith Yandle
Basically, you.
Paul Bissonnette
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Biz Nasty
Next in the, in the quick hits, Chris Drury. I now will. This remains to be seen. Is he fleecing Pat Verbeek and Anaheim or is Pat Verbeek like. I know Truba and Kreider can help a lot with my younger team, but Kreider's out west now. He's going to Anaheim. He agreed to go there. The trade was fourth round pick and Harry Terrence and a third round pick. I don't know, I'm confused. But Kreider's a member of the Ducks. What do you think, Biz? Keith Murr, do you like this move for Anaheim or do you more like it for Drury getting off two contracts of older players that have been Rangers for a long time?
Paul Bissonnette
I kind of like the guys they brought in Yans. I mean they got Gudis, they got Kalorn, they got Kreider and True Ball. Yeah. Vetrano. So they, they're at least surrounding these young guys with guys who are experienced, have been on Stanley cup runs before and you know, have playoff experience. So I, I don't mind it. And like, listen, I, I also heard rumblings they were going to try to make a stab at Marner, so maybe they're trying to sweeten the pot, saying, like, we have a decent enough team now where you can come in here and, and I believe the goal is for Anaheim. They want to make playoffs this year. Like, I know, like you want to make playoffs every year, but you look at their rosters the last few years, it's like there's not a chicken dick's chance they're making the playoffs. Like this year they have a legitimate argument with the moves they made. And these younger players, like the Leo Carlson's. I can't even say that Russian defenseman's last name, who's pretty nasty. The young goalie. They got, you know. Yeah, they got.
Biz Nasty
They're gonna be good. Dude.
Paul Bissonnette
Yeah, that played for the Peterborough Pete's. Like, they got guys.
Keith Yandle
It's also like Joe Quenville isn't gonna go. Want to go to a team and, you know, just not make the playoffs. Like, I'm sure they had their conversations, we got to bring guys in and stuff like that. But I really like the trade for. For cry's. I think a change of scenery. A guy that's been in New York for Jesus. Probably been 12 years, 14 years. So I. I think it'll be a good change of scenery for him. He'll come out, you know, something to prove. You know, everyone who gets traded, you know, you have a little chip on your shoulder. And I think for him, he'll. He'll have that. He'll, you know, he works his nuts off every summer anyway, so I think he'll be ready to go and he'll be fun. They'll be a fun team to watch anyways.
Paul Bissonnette
Do you think Kreider goes to, like, is he a. Like, a ring of honor guy for the Rangers? Doesn't he have the most goals ever by a New York Ranger?
Keith Yandle
I think if he stayed there, for sure he would be now leaving, maybe something different, but, yeah, probably.
Biz Nasty
Is it most playoff goals? I don't know if he's most goals ever, but he. Yeah, he was a. He was a force for a long time. Some incredible teams. You were a part of a few of them. Keith came right out of bc, I think hopped into the playoffs that year. When I saw the video of him jumping out of the pool, like, he jumps out of a pool and, like, land. Like, I can't even, like, swim out of a pool and use the same stairs to get out. So he's a freak physically. He's been amazing for a long time in big games, and that is what Anaheim needs. I just look at Drury getting off deals that probably, like, maybe even could have got off of those deals a little sooner, but he's like, all right, things need to change here. And then you hear rumors of possibly moving on or trying to move on from Mika, but quickly to Anaheim. Merles, because you also invented Leo Carlson.
Paul Bissonnette
Yeah, yeah.
Biz Nasty
Do we see this year be the step of, like, 80 points, 75 to 85 points, and then maybe follows that up with 90 points? Because based on what I've seen and heard, we're looking at a future. Ryan Getzlaff.
Steve Goldstein
Yeah, he's the stud. And you remember we talked to his agent, he said his, like, his growth plates weren't even fully formed or whatever. However it works, I'm not a doctor, but yeah, he's only going to get. Keep getting better year after year after year. But to talk about the Rangers, if you watch them closely, last year, they just were not interested in playing. So there was definitely a culture problem along with the coaching problem. So it's not a surprise to see them getting some of those big names, those guys that have been there. Because it needs a revamp.
Paul Bissonnette
It needs A new culture and boys. Going back to Kreider, he's third all time in Rangers goal scoring with 326 goals. And he's actually number one in playoff goals all time for the New York Rangers. So. I don't know. I don't know. Does that get you in the ring of honor? Because I'm, I'm looking here.
Biz Nasty
I know no cup and then Hank's up there. But Hank's one of the best goalies we've ever seen and he had the gold medal and he never played for another team. As Keith just mentioned. I don't know.
Ryan Whitney
That's a.
Biz Nasty
It's a qu. It's a good question. But Biz, you mentioned Marner. Andy Strickland reported it. He's. He's. He's gone. He is no longer going to be a part of the Toronto Maple Leafs organization. I don't think. Super surprising. Like, I figured that this was over. Incredible. Before we get into some other points about this. Incredible that they're losing him for nothing. Like shocking almost. And I get you're trying to win the cup, the curse, all these things. But like, holy shit, we're losing a top offensive player in the league for nothing. Shocking to say the least. Now, I chatted with some agents, none of them his agent. Very interested to hear what. What I was being told in that he's going to go out West. Apparently the number will not be what you think. It's going to be kind of surprising to hear that now. I think there'll be teams willing to get to the number that we've heard around 14. None of those teams will be competing for a cup, so he doesn't want that. Carolina's willing to spend a ton, but apparently he wants to get out of the East. I'll go back to this. Marshawn has 10 goals this year in the last seven years in the playoffs. Mitch Marner has 10, 13 overall in his career. In nine years, I don't see a good team willing to pay 13, even 12 million for his game. Now we'll see what happens. But I was not surprised at all to hear it is over. And Biz, your quick thoughts on losing him for nothing. That's the biggest kick in the dick warning.
Ryan Whitney
The following statements are about to be.
Biz Nasty
Made by a deranged Leafs fan.
Ryan Whitney
The views expressed are his and his only.
Biz Nasty
Take everything you hear with a grain.
Ryan Whitney
Of salt because remember, he is a deranged Leafs fan.
Biz Nasty
Great timing. Great timing.
Paul Bissonnette
Listen, he's a great player. I think his arsehole Puckers up come playoff time. I don't think he's an unreal playoff player. People want to say all points per game, blah, blah. I don't give a flying fuck what he does in the regular season. I watch the games in playoff times. I could see that he tenses up, he doesn't win battles, he's not big enough to. He's a perimeter player. He's, he's, he's the fifth or sixth guy in my opinion on a Stanley cup winning team. Most important player in the lineup on a Stanley cup winning team. Um, I think that he's probably gonna end up in LA, LA or Vegas. He probably ends up making about 11 million. I'm also hearing rumblings that it might be like a four year deal type thing where he's not gonna sign the big long extension where he's just going to go to a place he's going to see if he likes it, try to win something and then maybe sign the big 8 year, 78 year ticket after that one's all said and done.
Biz Nasty
So yeah, he would be how old then is he? 28 now?
Paul Bissonnette
I believe he's probably 29 by the time.
Biz Nasty
28, he turns. No, he just turned 28. So four year deal then at 32, try to get another one.
Paul Bissonnette
I mean buddy, if he's putting up 80, 90 points in the regular season with the cap accelerating out of his as it is, he could probably get an eight year deal at whatever 13, $14 million at that time. So that's just kind of the way the market is. Like I, he's a very. Guys, I'm not trying to take anything away from this kid. I'm just saying that I think that I just don't, I kind of don't like the attitude in the way that it's all being left. Like I feel like he's, he feels like he's been slighted. Where they try to make that deal before playoffs even began, where it's like your play tells me why they try to make that trade. Like it tells me everything. And the fact that you get, get like you lose them for nothing is kind of, it sucks. Like I think I wish the management would have had the balls to kind of do what they did with the Huberto. And it's funny that we talked about him earlier, like sometimes you have to make hard trades in order to get yourself over the hump. And they obviously viewed Huberto as a guy that they didn't feel like he was a dog. They couldn't, they couldn't get over the hump with him. Mind you. He did have 115 regular season points that year that they traded him. So I kind of view it as the same where it's like yes, he, he, he's good on the power play. He's going to have success. He's going to chew up these non playoff teams and get points in the power play all season long. But when push comes a shove, I personally would rather give 13 million to Sam Bennett than I would. Than I would Mitch Marner. And that's just me. Take your charts, take whatever you want to do and stuff me in a locker. But one guy's got more goals in this year's playoffs than Mitchie Marner has had in his entire playoff career. So I'll leave.
Keith Yandle
Who do you think, who do you think wins a cup first, Mitch or Toronto?
Biz Nasty
You have to. Mitch. Based on.
Paul Bissonnette
I would probably say Mitch. Yeah. Cause he's going to go. Probably go over to Vegas, but I.
Biz Nasty
Don'T know now if he goes to Vegas, they got to sign Eichel. He ain't making more than Eichel. So yeah, you could see that as a low. That would be where he gets the four. I don't know, I'm rambling but God, if he goes to Vegas like then you're looking at him. I wouldn't say he's the fourth or fifth. But say after, you know, Eichel, say after Stone, he's the third, maybe that helps, maybe that works. I don't know if he fits in with their style as much. But it's just, it's just wild to see when you lose a guy for nothing that's that good. It just, it hindered. It crushes an organization. Now can they go out, can they convince Sam Bennett to sign in Toronto? I think Marshawn and Bennett are going back to Florida. And the scariest part of that is what the fuck is going to stop them from winning? More like if they get Bennett, Marshawn back and then they. Even if they lose Ekblad, they got Forsling, they got Jones, they got. Who are the other D. They got Mikola, they got Kulakov. Like it's like they're not going anywhere. So why would you leave if you're Bennett and Marshawn? I know I'm changing the subject here, but I think, okay, so Bennett could get 10 million a year for seven years and Florida will give him what, seven and a half or eight for eight years. You're losing six, seven, eight million bucks who cares?
Paul Bissonnette
From, from my understanding is they don't want to go north of 8. So I would just say offer Sam Bennett 8 times 8. I think he would be foolish not to take that regardless of who's offering them 8 times 7 times 10 anywhere else. Like for. By the time it's all said and done, we're talking about six, seven million dollars here after taxes at max. And you have the ability to just keep winning and enjoying yourself with your teammates. And you're also the year, you're the second line center. Like not all the focus is on you. So you get to actually enjoy shit where all of a sudden you're going to a team with that type of tag, they're just going to keep putting the microphone in your face when things aren't going well. Where. Who's Marshall? Like think about the, the amount of guys who get interviewed before Sam Bennett does. Like you got Brad Marshawn, you got Keith Kachak like, or Matthew Tkachuk. Like he just gets to just play and worry about his game and not have to worry about all the nonsense and outside noise. So I agree with you guys. I think they're going to keep this team intact and it is going to be a scary team for years to come. And you might see the greatest modern day dynasty that we've seen. The only other one that you could compare it to would be Chicago. They won three cups in six years and, or in a five year period, I guess. Right, In a five year period. And I think that they have the ability to be the, the, the modern day Edmonton Oilers, the modern day New York Islanders. And I think that if those guys sign at those deals and they look themselves in the mirror and they take that hometown discount, I don't think there's any around. They're gonna do it.
Biz Nasty
Did you guys catch the US Open yesterday?
Paul Bissonnette
Yes, I watched it. I was so happy for that Spawn guy.
Biz Nasty
So listen to this. This is via Monday Q info on Twitter. Talk about never giving up. Edmonton Oilers. Don't give up. JJ Spawn. 2013, made $11,000 on the Canadian tour. 2014, made one cut and $800 on the Canadian tour. 2015, won the Canada Order of Merit, which is basically number one on the Canadian Tour. That gets him to the Korn Ferry Tour the next season. He finished third on the Korn Ferry Tour. He earned his PGA Tour card. 2017, 18 and 19. He finished 97th, 62nd and 99th in PGA Tour points. Barely holds on to his card. 2020, 185th in points on The PGA Tour. Lost his PGA Tour card, went to the Korn Ferry Tour finals and finished second to get his tour card back. 20, 21, 174th on the PJ Torrent points. Kept his card only because of COVID and the crazy rules that went along with that. 20, 23, 34th in points on the PGA Tour. Starts getting things going. Has his first PGA Tour win. 2023, 67, 62nd in points. Does nothing. 20, 24, 98th on the PGA Torrent points. And he just won the US Open. It was his second ever US Open start. The man was five over through six holes in the final round. And God damn it, did he never give up and deserve that win? Dude, I've never seen right there. I've never seen. That's actually somebody who stole the tweet from Monday. Q. So you're giving the caddie network the wrong credit. They stole it from Monday. Q. I, I, I loved watching the golf like that. I think many people thought I was arguing with my dad on Father's Day, no less. But we had a great day. Awesome to be with your dad on Father's Day, be with your kids. It was a great day. But he's like, I don't know. They go in the rough and everyone has to hack it out. I'm like, yeah, but like, you gotta hit fairways now. We'll go back also to a moment in the tournament that was kind of crazy to me. So casual water on a golf course. Crazy rain delay, water everywhere. I always thought the rule was if your ball is in a spot on the course where you're standing and water's coming up from the ground, you get to go no closer to the hole. The first point where there isn't casual water, where you're not stepping on the ground and water's coming up to your shoes. Sam Burns was standing in basically an enormous puddle. It was like there was reporters who went out to where he was on this hole after. And they're walking around and water's coming up everywhere. But two rules. Officials would not give him a drop somewhere. No closer. That's more dry. He ends up pulling it left. Kind of loses the tournament there. But shocking to see that, but more.
Paul Bissonnette
J.J. you see the one. Do you see the one clip of, like, what, what's the guy's name that. That happened to?
Biz Nasty
Sam Burns? Yeah.
Paul Bissonnette
Yeah. They're like, sam Burns trying to try to win the US Open. And this guy is literally, like, trying to hit out of a huge puddle. And then he, he, like, hits It. And then falls in the puddles, like swimming.
Biz Nasty
Fell right in his face.
Paul Bissonnette
Yeah, it was a pretty funny clip I saw on the Twitter machine, but, yeah. Holy fuck. Hey, I. I agree, man. I. I think there should be a few more tournaments a year where these guys are made to felt like normal golfers where they can struggle a little bit. It shouldn't be 20 over 15 or 20 under. 15 under. Like, let's go even par. Like, make it challenging where they have to hit fairways. And some of the greens, though, are a bit ridiculous. Like, you saw that JJ spawn. He. He hit the flag, and all of a sudden it was like, off the green. He was getting fucked in the ass early in that.
Biz Nasty
And he never. Like, the body language thing we talk about, though. Like, he. He did. He got hosed on that one early, and he just kind of, dude, like, I'm just going to keep going. I'm going to keep going. I'm going to keep grinding. I was so happy for that guy. He lost in a playoff. And the players to rory and Rory McElroy.
Paul Bissonnette
Oof.
Biz Nasty
I.
Paul Bissonnette
Oh, Father's Day.
Biz Nasty
He. He won. He won the Masters. He became one of, like, what, five or six men in the history of golf on this planet to win the Grand Slam, to win every major. You would think, like, the next few years, the rest of his career, it's gravy. Like, I thought he'd end up lighting it up, win more majors. All this pressure's off. This guy looks like the biggest baby whiner. What the fuck is wrong with him? He's walking around like. It's almost like he lost the Masters, how he's acting. He won't do media. When he does do media, he's just like a baby out there whining. I've never been more confused on what I thought would happen after this legendary victory in Augusta to what is going on now, where he's just like. Everyone's turning on him. It's like, buddy, like, how are you not in a good mood? How are you not happy? What is your problem? I don't know if you've seen some of these interviews. It's just bizarre to me. He's furious at the media. He's. He's just in a bad mood constantly. It's like, I don't. I don't get that. To me, it's like, buddy, you just did it. You climbed the top of the mountain.
Paul Bissonnette
What.
Biz Nasty
What are you upset with?
Steve Goldstein
Still wants that live money?
Paul Bissonnette
Yes. You think he joins Liv?
Biz Nasty
No, I don't Think I. I think people have said he's disgusted that, like, the tour put him out there and he was the. The voice of the tour fighting against Liv. It's like, all right, I get that reason to be kind of disgusted with how that's gone down, but I thought this guy would be the happiest person in the world the rest of his career. Like, who gives a shit? I'm a legend forever. And he looks like he's. He's got a big dump in his pants every day.
Keith Yandle
Yeah. Like, if McDavid won the mug this year, we'd, you know, would expect some smiles and stuff. Like, the same thing with Rory. Like, dude just won the biggest tournament. You got to be happy for at least a couple of weeks.
Biz Nasty
A couple weeks? At least. He was like, I don't need. Yeah. He's like, they asked him before the final round. Yeah. Hopefully it takes less than four and a half hours and I'm out of here. It's like, all right, dude. Like, I don't know what your problem is. You're kind of like, turning people off and. And the whole world kind of had your back and wanted you to win. At least it felt like that.
Keith Yandle
Yeah.
Biz Nasty
Other news. Breaking news. Dan Big Cat Barstool Cats will be in attendance in Edmonton for Game 7. I have convinced him. He's moved things around. We need an Oilers victory. We need a Game seven more than anything. I know. Even if you're a Panthers. Actually, Panthers fans, I want. I get it. You want to close it out and get this thing done. The rest of the hockey world, if you hate McDavid, if you hate the others, you still want a Game seven, right? And you get Big Cat in Edmonton.
Steve Goldstein
I. I just rerouted my flights too wit. So I'm. I'm trying to bring the positive energy for you. So now I'll be going to game seven, and then I'll fly directly from to Sweden. And I had the. I had the Miami Merle outfit last time down here. I got a special edition for the Oilers. Okay. So I'll break that out for the game tomorrow. I'll be boots on the ground, and I'm going to try to get us to seven for you with.
Biz Nasty
Thank you, Mer. I appreciate that. I appreciate all you guys. All Oilers fans, look me in the eye. This thing ain't done yet. It was going to be difficult. It was going to be hard, Keith. I don't appreciate that. It was never going to be.
Keith Yandle
You said, Oilers fans, look me in the eye.
Biz Nasty
Never going to be easy don't give up now. Don't have a negative attitude the rest of the day with your family. Don't be nervous tomorrow. I get it. But it was never going to be easy. We got two of the best players the world's ever seen. We are, we are battling against a weapon of an organization, against a true, true test of championship hockey. But we're going on the road. We're dragging them back to Berta and then it's a coin flip. Don't give up now. Don't think it was ever going to be easy the first one. It's tough, it's hard, it's miserable. But don't give up on me. Look at my hat. Look at my face. Florida Panthers fans. Get out of my face. Leave me alone. And just know you're going to see the best effort the Edmonton Oilers have ever given tomorrow night in Florida and we're dragging them back to Berta and we're going to game seven. I don't care what Biz says, I don't care what Keith says, I don't care what Goldie says. Them all. We're bad dragging them back to Berta and I'm not giving up yet. I'll tell you that right now. Love that I'm going that way right now.
Paul Bissonnette
Even though it's over.
Biz Nasty
I love 30 minute walk on the treadmill and 20 push ups. Suck on that. Thank you for watching. Look in my eyes. It ain't over.
Paul Bissonnette
Hey, we got to give a little schedule update here. So if it does end in game six, in which it will, don't say that, we'll be coming right back on live on Wednesday and then obviously game notes on Friday. If it gets extended to Game 7, we're going to drop game notes on Wednesday and then we're going to do a live pod Friday before the game sometime. I don't know exactly what time but we will be coming at you live probably around 10 to 11am on Friday morning before game seven of the Stanley cup final. But we all know that's not going to happen. So we'll see you guys on Wednesday to wrap this bad boy up. Don't look at me like that with I you.
Biz Nasty
But hey guys, if you could convince, if you could keep that series going in the second round, we certainly can. You haven't done as a man happening in Kane. All right, big game Kane coming up. All right, Stuart Skinner game.
Paul Bissonnette
Save it when I see it. Yan. I'll see you for light or lunch.
Biz Nasty
Love you guys. See you later. Chicklets fan don't give up. Don't ever give up.
Paul Bissonnette

The hosts begin by analyzing Game 5 of the Stanley Cup Finals, highlighting the pivotal moments that swung the momentum in favor of the Florida Panthers. Paul Bissonnette remarks at [04:29]:
"Brad Marshaw, six goals in five games in these Stanley Cup Finals. He's now chasing Sam Bennett for the Conn Smythe."
They discuss the domination shown by key Panther players, particularly Brad Marchand and Sam Bennett, emphasizing their critical roles in the series.
The conversation shifts to the overall performance of both teams. Biz Nasty expresses frustration with the Oilers' gameplay:
"The Oilers played like trash. But I'm not going to say the Panthers also were just at another level."

Brad Marchand's explosive performance is a focal point. Paul Bissonnette states at [04:29]:
"Brad Marshaw jump out of a cannon on that first goal. Like splitting D."
Sam Bennett's offensive prowess is equally lauded, with Biz Nasty noting his ability to dominate games:
"Marshawn has 10 goals this year in the last seven years in the playoffs. Mitch Marner has 10, 13 overall in his career."
Connor McDavid's exceptional skill is acknowledged, but his predictability is criticized:
"He'd earned that spot. But not playing Klingberg, I thought was a mistake."
Leon Draisaitl’s partnership with McDavid is discussed, highlighting their combined offensive threat.
Gustav Forsling’s rapid rise after being picked up off waivers is celebrated:
"He's the best defenseman on that team. They have Forsling."
The hosts critique Edmonton’s coaching strategies, particularly focusing on head coach Knobloch’s decisions:
"Burying them and losing them in the series and keeping them on the fourth line is the dumbest thing you could do."
Questions arise about why key players like Klingberg and Kapanen aren’t seeing more ice time, suggesting a lack of depth in critical moments.
Florida’s coaching approach under Bill Zito is praised for its effectiveness and adaptability:
"Ownership from Vinnie Viola right on down to Bill Zito, his hockey staff, what they've been able to build."
Steve Goldstein adds insights into Florida’s strategic acquisitions and their impact on the team’s success.
Biz Nasty shares a personal and emotional reaction to the Oilers' performance post-Game 4, expressing his frustrations candidly:
"I'm a Paul. I gotta apologize for my behavior during the day of Game 4. I can't stand the Panthers. I need to see the Oilers win the Stanley Cup."
His raw emotions highlight the passion and intensity surrounding the series.
After an outburst during Game 4, Biz Nasty apologizes to listeners, reflecting on the emotional toll of supporting a struggling team.
As the play-by-play announcer for the Florida Panthers, Steve Goldstein provides an insider’s view of the team’s journey to the Finals. He emphasizes the organizational changes and strategic moves that have bolstered the Panthers:
"Bill Zito, magic man. The first thing he did was convince Patrick Hornquist to waive his no trade to come to Florida."
Goldstein discusses the impact of key trades and acquisitions, such as Brad Marchand and Sam Bennett, on the team’s chemistry and performance.
Goldstein highlights the Panthers’ unity and preparedness, attributing their success to a tight-knit group and effective coaching:
"They have a brotherly bond that's really hard to break right now."
The hosts and guest Steve Goldstein explore the possibilities of Game 6, debating strategies the Oilers might employ to turn the series around. Paul Bissonnette optimistically suggests:
"If it's me, I'm starting Stuart Skinner. You know, you have some great players."
While acknowledging the Panthers' current dominance, they discuss potential adjustments the Oilers could make to compete effectively.
There’s a consensus among the hosts that while Game 6 is pivotal, the series might still extend to a Game 7:
"We're dragging them back to Berta and then it's a coin flip. Don't give up now."
They emphasize the unpredictability of playoff hockey and encourage Oilers fans to remain hopeful.
The conversation veers into speculation about Mitch Marner’s future with the Toronto Maple Leafs, expressing disbelief over possible trades and the impact on the team's dynamics.
Connor McDavid and Connor Hellebok’s performances lead to discussions about MVP and Hart Trophy contenders, debating their eligibility and deservingness based on their playoff performances.
The episode wraps up with a blend of analytical insights, passionate fan perspectives, and light-hearted banter. The hosts reiterate their support for the Oilers while acknowledging the formidable challenge posed by the Panthers. They encourage listeners to stay engaged and optimistic as the Finals progress, highlighting the unpredictable nature of the playoffs and the relentless pursuit of the Stanley Cup.
