E
We're buzzing right now.
B
What is up, folks? Welcome to episode 634 of the Spit Chuggers podcast. Oh, biz, that's a really dirty Pinkies up, that is. Don't even check that out if you're only listening to audio. Pinkies up. Shout out. Myself and Yant in a Brooksville, Florida at Cabot Citrus. We're gonna be playing some golf the next couple days. I know biz. You're in Atlanta, correct?
C
Sounds like a plantation or something.
B
I. I think it used to be a big old orange farm. Orange tree Farm Orange. Okay, so that's what it's called. It's called the Grove, based on the logo. There's oranges everywhere. I mean, I walked in, they left a sign. Spit and chicks welcome Spit and chicklets. A hat for me and Keith. I'm. I'm rocking it right here. Shout out Cabot.
E
And a pinkies up.
B
And a big old pinkies up. Right? A big old bottle and shot of pinkies up. So shout out pink Whitney. Shout out, you guys. Everyone listening. Thank you. I think the NHL is scripted. It's complete just entertainment value through the roof right now. We got on ice stories, we got off ice stories. Biz, I did have a question for you because the other day you woke up and you were firing off text to us. I loved it.
C
Same again this morning.
B
So it was eight in the morning for me and then I started thinking, he's still in Scottsdale, so 5am so you're like that David Dobbins guy. Is that the guy's name? Are you just Goggins? Are you setting alarms? Are you just waking up at like no. 45.
C
5 sometimes my circadian rhythms out of whack. Like even last night I woke up at like 4:30. Why? What's the cup for? Yes.
E
No, I was just doing pinkies up for that big word.
B
Great for great vocab.
C
Oh, okay. Okay. Well, I'm getting pinkies up for my wordplay now. Like I'm Eminem or something. But nobody. I'm honestly just so fired up over this wild card race. Like normally this is kind of like the. All right, let's get things going. And as much as I want to start playoffs, like, I'm like perplexed. Another big word for you. Pinkies up. Couple. Couple syllables. Not a big deal. Down the hatchet. Both the west and east coast wild card races are unbelievable. And it looks as if, though after that huge win last night against Dallas, that the scumbag Bruins have punched their ticket to the playoffs. Unless something catastrophic happens, they have punched their ticket. And I called them the. What was I calling them before the. Before the season's. The Bag Bruins, I believe I was calling them not.
E
Not to mention did. They may have punched their ticket. They're going to be a issue in the playoffs. I. I wouldn't want to play them the way Swayman's playing, the way that they're playing, like the 2011 Bruins. Like they are going to be a
B
real problem to play against them and them. And who would it be so they'll get if their first wild card? They. I mean, right now, Carolina and Buffalo, they're tied at 100 points and it's just. But biz, let me tell you, you hate the Bruins. You're calling them scumbags and then just attacking Ottawa fans online. But your team and your organization, the biggest joke in the NHL going on 59 years. You don't even have a GM anymore, buddy.
D
No business.
C
Well, first off, if we were in the Western Conference, we'd actually be in the second wild card position right now. 77.
E
And if my grandma had wheels, she'd be a bike.
C
That's a very clean version of saying it.
B
I was like, well, he's going with the grandma. He's going with the grandma version of that line. But you went with the bike and the wheels.
C
I like, that's if my husband had tits. How about that one?
B
Hey. Okay, we're going somewhere. We're going somewhere a little bit more risky.
C
You saw that political. That, that Republican lady, right? She got caught cheating on her husband, and then it turns out he's dressing in pink pan pink pants and panties and wearing fake rubber tits. The dog was even.
B
In one of the photos, my algorithm, I did see, like a guy with like fake tits on. On. In like a suit. And I just kind of kept scrolling.
C
I don't even want a fake set of jammers and tugging one over at the laptop.
B
I mean, give me a couple more months and I'm gonna have my pinkies up, baby.
C
Pink pants, pink panties, pinkies up. Let's go.
B
I got fitted for suits like, like two and a half years ago, maybe a lit. Maybe three years ago. And I went to put one on the other day, and I can't even. I can't even button it. And it's just. It's just been slowly, I guess, where I haven't noticed it, but it was a shocking and just disgusting moment. I put this suit on that I remember wearing, I don't know, a year and a half ago at least, and it fit great. And I can't button it. So there's some big issues in should we do. And I'll have my own tits.
C
Should we do like a team fast? Maybe even before G's wedding. Maybe we go like a. Like a five day fast. Have you ever done a five day fast?
B
I done five minutes. I don't. I just don't. I just love eating. I love watching hockey and eating and playing golf and like, I don't want to sacrifice my eating now. I could.
C
You should do what the girls do then.
E
Buy bigger suits.
B
Well, I'm not doing Ozempic.
C
No, not Ozempic. They get the lymphatic drainage before they hit the red carpet to fit in all those, those fancy dresses. I'm. I turned into a savant.
B
You're a thesaurus.
C
Going back to the Toronto, your shitty team.
E
They'd be playing Buffalo, would be playing Boston if it started right now. Is that what you asked earlier?
B
Are you sure?
C
Well, hey, you got to think though, man. If Boston keeps pushing until the end of the season. There is a, there is a possibility they do catch Montreal and we're bumped. Montreal as good as Montreal's playing and as good as Cole Caulfield is. 47 tucks now for Mr. Saturday Night. But I digress because I was attacking Ottawa Settlers fans. As much as I would like to see another team from Canada make playoffs, they, you know that when bad things happen to us, Ottawa fans are all over our nuts. So just like they were chirping us about not making playoffs, firing our GM, cleaning house, essentially we did keep our six assistant GMs, thankfully for my boy Donor, because I love Donor, but I also love tree boys and, and this sucks. And you know, he, I think that he got one, he hired one coach. It was Barube, right? Like that. He like normally you get at least, you know, to, to change the coaching position one time as a gm, but I think that, you know, some of the moves that, that went down probably look bad on his resume and were I guess enough to relieve him as of his duties. I'm kind of, I don't know where it goes from here or who you hire or maybe if you bump up one of the assistant GMs. I don't know who is in consideration, but I've kind of obviously anticipating something might happen. There's a reason why I put my ambassador jacket to the rafters. I'd like to only announce that I've, I've, I've put my name in the ring.
B
Let's say the basement. The rafters means like honor and.
E
Good point, good point.
B
You shoved it down in the base. You threw it down the launch.
E
You did bring, you did bring it. I will give you that. He brought it.
C
Those guys on the ice played as hard as I did. Being an ambassador, we'd have, we, we Florida Panthers, we'd be back to back.
B
So you probably have seven, seven cups in the last 10 years. If they honestly went as hard as you go. I mean, David Goggins Bisson at the thesaurus, he's up at 5am The Leafs aren't up at 5am they're just getting their GM fired.
C
Exactly. And I don't know if you guys have read the cba. I have obviously because I'm a thesaurus that it's illegal to have a team ambassador also act as active general manager. So there's a reason I put the, the Ambassador jacket in the rafters or in the basement or in the closet, however you want to say it. And I'm, I'm, I'm Going to be interviewing for the position.
B
I did see there is a. There is a gambling site that has his name on there. I think some guy, like, sent us a tweet. Biz, I don't know if you saw.
C
That's ra's bookie.
B
Oh, damn it. Damn it. Shit. And that was actually out there. I'll tell you. I'll tell you Biz, though, when the news broke, forget letting him run the trade deadline, which is just so bizarre. It's an hour before this big game. I mean, big game. I guess for the Ducks, it was a big game, but for the. For the core and the. I guess the Toronto Maple Leafs pride, it was a big game. All of a sudden the news breaks that Tree Living is fired. And it's just been such odd timing to me because I don't get why. Maybe they didn't know they were going to do this, but what changed? Like, in the last month, two months, where now it was like, it has to be done now as opposed to the end of the year and we decide we're going to let Tree run the deadline? I. Do you agree with that?
C
Yeah. I don't know. And. And, like, it could be as silly as, like, they did it right before the game against Anaheim. So, like, there was something else to talk about, like, over the news cycle, like, yeah, it's. You give me that look, but that's the only explanation I have. I don't know why they would literally do it, like, right around that time. So I don't know. I will say, though, like, as much as you want to blame Tree, like, listen, I think that Chief is obviously an incredible coach. He was incredible player. He has so much respect. I would. I would love to chat with him, like, off record, just to be like, you know, what did you think of the coaching job? And, you know, I know that they lost Marner and that was a big loss for him, and I know that he was a big Marner guy. I thought the way that he distributed the ice time and the way that he. He, like, I guess the lack of empowering other guys. He helped. He scratched Michelle how many times? Like, Robertson, like, never really got a fair shake. Bobby McMahon, like. Like, you're telling me that guy couldn't play in a consistent top six, like, 18 minutes a game? Look what he's doing in fucking. Look what he's doing in Seattle. I think he had more. I think he's had more breakaways in Seattle. Every time I look at a goddamn clip, the guy's getting a breakaway Goal. So he's had more breakaways there in the three, four weeks he's been there than he had maybe his whole time in Toronto. Never played three on three, overtime, never. Like, like, I think that there could have been a lot of different situations as far as the way that players were played. They also dealt with their fair share of injuries. This year was a brutal year, a forgettable year for William Nylander, in my opinion. As good as maybe as it started out.
B
You know, if you think he flipped off the cameras in the press box, he bought a fucking tank top. Another game in the press box. He looks to be a guy who's just going through the motions, making eleven and a half million, knowing that he's got no problems in life. And I'll tell you, I saw Kiprios talking about this at intermission against the Ducks and Max Domi, we can get into that in a sec. He fights Gudas. So weird. Gudas didn't fight back.
C
I feel like that's just like, like, like as. As happy and proud I am of Max Domi and obviously Gudas playing through injury in order to answer the bell. He was wearing a walking boot the day before. I feel like that's like fairly minor in compare comparison to the overall story.
B
Oh, no, that was just like. No, I'm just kind of like ranting here for a second. But you brought up Nylander and later in the game he kind of gives like a cross check to the Anaheim goalie or like bumps into him and then Mitnikov or somebody, one of the Ducks defenseman comes over and Easton Cowan comes bombing in and like buries the guy like exactly what you want to see. And, and Kiprio's pointed this out. Nylander just kind of gets up slow. There's a scrum. He doesn't even get in the mix at all. It's just like, oh man, I, I know you mentioned him and I was just thinking of, as I think you said it was an off year.
C
He starts to scrum after considering it's that type of game. And we're well aware of what needs to happen in the game against Anna Anaheim to kind of like make up for lost time on. On the lack of response for Authent Austin Matthews being done for the season. And that's kind of the effort they get. Like. I mean, I was also there in St. Louis the other night. He was not very good and he was fucking the dog a little bit. And I think he was asked about it and he basically said like, you know, I have I, you know, I have my fair share of, of comments, but I'm going to keep them to myself. It's like, bro, what the, what the.
B
Like, save him for my YouTube channel.
C
Yeah, he's saving them for. Exactly, exactly. Like, hey, man, like I've, I've, I've had nothing but respect and, and happy with Will's perform, Will Nylander's performance up until this year. I just think that this year is a big time wash. And, and if he's not, if he's not leaving this season and saying, I need to take a big long look in the mirror and he's more pointing the finger like, all this, all that, it's like that to me is everything I need to hear in order to say, send me a package and we'll, we'll, we'll. And, and tell me, tell me the teams. Write down the teams that you want to go to and we'll see if we can make something work. But ultimately, as I think Kipper said the same thing. I think Odog said the same thing. Like this rebuild basically depends on what Auston Matthews is going to say this offseason. He goes in there and he's like, yeah, you know, you know, it's, you know, I appreciate my time here and, and I've, I've done everything in my power in order to change it and, and get over the hump, but I
B
want to play for Ottawa. What, the true team in Ontario.
D
Hey.
E
So if, if Auston Matthews did leave and the team would essentially be William Nylanders, how are you feeling as a Toronto Maple Leafs fan?
C
No, I'm, I, I already, I just
B
said, like, I already traded him already.
C
I've already. He's gone.
A
So.
E
Both of them, you would get rid of both of them?
C
If I was GM and he wanted to wear a fucking tank toppers, bullshit outfits. Moving forward in that hallway, coming into the rink, we're fighting in there, we're closing the doors and we're scrapping. And then whoever makes it out alive, if, if he makes it out alive, he can dress. If he doesn't, right back to your house, put a black suit on with a black tie and a white shirt every time. Off the glass and out. I don't give a fiddler's about your chrome hard jeans. I don't care about your scarves. I don't care about your Louis Vuitton, I don't care about your Gucci, I don't care about your Fendi, I don't care about your Bottega Veneta, now biz, let me. I don't care about your Versace shades.
B
So the next day I want him
C
driving a Ford Aerostar to the rink. What I want them driving. I don't even know if they make those anymore, but I'll get Cam's old one.
B
I think he takes the train. So I mean that's the, that's, that's some blue collar stuff right there. Maybe you can just keep that and maybe bring it into his game a little bit.
C
But one other thing. The, the, the, the laid back, silly attitude, it works when you're like the fifth or sixth guy. I keep referring to Nylander as like he gets paid like a top end guy but to me he's, he should be your Phil Kessel, right? Like Phil Kessel. To me he's not going to be your, one of your core pieces in a sense of like raw, raw in the locker room. He's going to add like, like levity. Levity is a big one.
A
Yeah.
C
Lev, have I used that one yet? Did I double dip on levity?
B
I'll give you that one, buddy.
C
You know, he's supposed to provide fun and then also opportunistic scoring and just the clutch gene, which I feel like in playoffs we can all agree on. If you look at all those guys, he's been the most clutch. So maybe that's why people would be like, shut the up, you idiot. Be. By the way, I'm not the, I'm not the ambassador anymore, so I can talk like this and not hinder guys leaving like Mitch Marner. But that's maybe where people are hesitant to trade him because he's been the most clutch come big games and big playoff times. But at the end of the day, if Matthews is leaving, I don't think you're really building your team around William Nylander. Can we just all agree on that?
E
Also, Phil Kessel as the, whatever you said, fourth or fifth guy wasn't wearing tank tops to the rank and chrome heart jeans and bringing outside noise. He was just showing up, doing his job and doing it for a thousand straight games.
C
He was going and winning poker tournaments and coming up and just went just helping win games and just sitting in
B
his one chair watching movies. His. Remember that chair that.
A
Oh yeah.
B
It's a hell of a. I mean if. Can we throw?
C
I think that's why he didn't play anymore. I think he got investigated for that. They're like, ah, we're gonna, we're gonna
B
singular chair right in front of a 90 inch TV and it's 6ft IMAX for Ava. I don't want to spend a lot of time on the Leafs, like you said, like, they're just a joke. But I do think that the noise of. Of. Of trees firing and all this and the season they've had, well, then the next day after the Anaheim game that they ended up winning, and you want to lose games right now, but they win that game. MLSE president and CEO Keith Pelley did a press conference. I would say it didn't go over great. I think the fans were a little disgusted at the end of it, considering at one point he said, we all know the Toronto Maple Leafs have foundational pieces in place. I don't know if they have that many foundational pieces in place. I don't know their prospects. I don't know if moving forward, it's like the Montreal Canadiens with just young gun after young gun coming and ready to play.
C
Well, according to him, they snuck up on us.
B
I was gonna go there, but that was the best part. We didn't see Montreal doing this this year. It's like, buddy, the whole league saw this coming.
C
Were you fucking living in Afghanistan in a bunker? Were you fucking in Bin Laden's old pad? Like, where the fuck were you hanging out?
B
I think every human being that watches the NHL regularly going into this year after last year was like, wow, Montreal's building something pretty nice up there. Montreal, they got a lot of young guys coming. They got guys that aren't even there yet. This is gon be a little bit of a run here. And he's like, we didn't. We didn't see much real coming out, coming out nowhere and doing.
C
They got another goalie prospect that came up. They. They traded Mayu for Bull Duke. Who else did they snag? The defenseman from Long Island? Dobson.
B
Dobson, they just.
C
They added more pieces to what they had. So he didn't see it coming, though. But. And then. And then once again, like, they have like five or six assistant GMs, like, why didn't one of them go up there and. And have a say as to, like, maybe what they've seen or whatever. So it's. It's a bit of a show. I think that. I think that the problem with T.O. is hard. It's just. And it's hard not to with MLSC and everything. It's just so. There's so much politics involved, so I don't even know if you ever truly solve the problem. And also, who. Who really wants the job, like, can they go get a qualified guy?
B
That's a wanted. That's a wanted job, buddy. That's big dough. That's original Six. You won't win. You'll get tortured by the fans. You'll be a laughing stock for another 59 years. But people want that job.
E
You know who I think would be perfect for the job? A big name. A guy with some thick skin. A guy who's been in the. On and off the ice. Oh, no, Sorry. Why are you raising your hand? It's not you, Biz.
D
It's.
E
It's number 44, Chris Pronger.
C
I. I think that he'll. He would make an incredible GM one day, and I think that it would be smart to have a guy like that at the round T table. To think that you could just throw in a guy who. Who hasn't, like, learned at any lower level.
E
Yes, he did. He was a. He was in Florida.
C
Yeah, but for how long?
E
I think he was there, like two or three years.
B
But Biz, are you saying in terms of doing trades and running the draft as the GM would. Because President. If he's president of the Leafs, it's like, all right, well, I can at least be a part of the culture and, like, how we're approaching.
C
Yeah.
E
At least he would know Montreal has something brewing.
C
That's true. That's true. I just, like, I. I think that gm, I guess, has a little bit more control where the president more of is, like, at the round table and, like, giving his strong opinion. That's where I think he would be valuable at this point. I think that, like, having him as an, like an assistant gm, at least to start. I mean, Adam to the six. Six. They already have six.
B
Seven.
C
Six, seven. But yeah, I mean, like, the guy. The guy's seen it all. I agree with that. I just don't know how easy it is to step into, like, a role like that if you. You don't have that much experience. Like.
B
Yeah. I don't know.
E
I don't think there's something that Chris Pronger has not. Not seen in the NHL and he pays attention to the league still. He has since he retired. I. I just don't see a world that. Where. If he's running your team, where he.
B
That's actually. That's le. The Leafs calling him. You pick that up.
D
It's Pelly pickup.
B
He's like, did I just hear you mention the Montreal Canadiens? Is that a new team?
D
Is that a new team?
C
They said they weren't expanding. They have $2 billion to expand.
D
Kipper mentioned Ryan Getzlov's name as an interesting name. He's been working, I believe, in Nashville's front office or for the past few years, but that's. He said we also want to keep an eye on Chris Pronger and Ryan Getzlab, two others being discussed for front office jobs who don't have the same kind of executive experience.
C
I don't think any Leafs fan would be like, upset if they hired Chris Pronger gm. I think they would see, look at this, what this guy did as a player. Yes, he does have a little bit of experience outside of it. Like, I wouldn't. It's just like I said, you like, like tree. And people would say, oh, what, what did he do? Blah, blah, right? Like bad. Maybe some bad trades. Like he was assistant in, in Phoenix. We had success there. When he was there, he went to Calgary and then obviously then Toronto. So, like, it's like he's been around doing it. Not saying that necessarily makes you successful, but I, you know, I don't think he's. I don't. I also don't think he's the worst guy behind the wheel. There's some tough trades there. You also don't understand what is. Is being controlled by the upper hand either. Like, I don't know. I don't know if some of the stuff he wants to do is like, no, we can't do that. Oh, we can't do this. Like, maybe they wanted to trade Marner before his no move clause kicked in. Like, oh, no, you can't do that. He's a local kid and he sells tickets. Like, I don't know. I don't fucking know. I don't dig.
B
Well, you don't dig. You don't dig. My final thing on this was another classic quote was that the Leafs and getting back to the greatness. And that's in air quotes that the Leafs have, you know, shown over the years. This truly great franchise has said, we have just completed a complete rebuild of MLS club Toronto fc, all using data combined with cultural checks. So I don't. That's where I think he's losing a lot of people. Like, you're bringing up our MLS team, Toronto fc, like, this is the Toronto Maple Leafs. Yes, it's all mlse. But if you compare the, the importance to people in Ontario and around Canada and around North America who love the Leafs, I don't think that the Leafs and Toronto FC are really like that compatible. I, I don't, I didn't. I don't Think that quote resonated with a lot of people. That's a pinkies up word for me.
C
Well, I actually. Another thing that they're going to do, they're actually going to introduce these. Much like the NDP government, they're going to do these gender equity cards. So whoever, whoever has like the certain color get to speak first on trades, anything about calling guys up. So it's kind of nice that they're incorporating certain things they did at the NDP conference recently. Yeah, I don't know if you guys caught that one on online.
B
No, no, you brought that up quick and. Or maybe that was off air and then I think I saw you tweeting about it. Just asking like, what is this? That looked interesting to say the least. I do think goodest though, just very quickly. I respect the hell out of that. Like, he, he blatantly was like, yeah, I'm playing because I'm gonna answer to what I did. He obviously felt bad. I think the way it comes off Keith, you know him well, you said you think he'd feel bad, but he goes out there, he knows what's coming. And do you think he didn't throw a punch back on purpose, being like, I'm just going to take this beating, like this is what I deserve. Or do you think it was more he didn't have the chance to throw a punch because he didn't throw one punch.
E
I heard Chetty, you know Chetty, the kid, upper decky guy?
C
Oh, yeah, yeah.
E
He said it looked like a gang initiation in the Crips where you're not allowed to fight back and you just have to take your beating. But I honestly think he, he just took his lickings, obviously tried to protect himself as much as he could. But he knew, like, he know he understands the game.
D
He's.
E
He's hurt guys before. He's been in this situation. Like, he understands the game just as well as anybody else and he knew he had to take a beating. And you know Max, Max looked pissed off. Max looked like he was sticking up for his friend and getting some revenge for him. So good to see that out of Max for his team. And yeah, I honestly think Goody was just like, hey, listen, I did, I did this. I hurt one of the best players in the game. I got to answer the bell here. And you know what? I'm just going to try to protect myself and not throw any punches.
C
That Max is pretty tough for being an undersized guy. Very tough at the fact that he was wearing a boot the day before. I Don't know if his balance might have been off and he was just like, I'm just trying to survive this thing, but I'd be interested to ask Gudas off, like, off camera or. I guess you could Yans, if you're that close with them. Like, hey, what. What was the deal with that? But going back to Tree boys, like, sometimes it's like. Like, he's my guy. Right? So if you're like, oh, you're not being critical enough on him, like, he made some bad trades and like, he was not good.
D
It was.
C
It wasn't a good tenure in Toronto. Well, that's your opinion. Like, you want either of you guys can step up and say it. I tend to protect my guys the same way I go to bat for talking on here. Like, those are my guys.
B
Yeah, it wasn't. Yeah, it was. It wasn't.
C
So, you know, some of these people listening don't have friends close enough that they can stick up for. And. And I. I do.
B
I'm with you.
E
And we talked about it about Tree and whether he had a fair shake or not. And I'd be, like you said, interesting to see talking to him if, if he did, if there was other people, you know, giving him information of what they wanted to do or where they saw the team going, because Trees are very, very smart hockey mind. A great guy, a guy that cares about his players. You know, obviously, like you said, he helped us in Phoenix, he helped Calgary get to where they are. You don't just get a job in Toronto just because. Just to hand you a job. Like, you have to earn that. And he earned it. And, you know, I. I think he'll get another job. I think he'll do a great job. And maybe going to a place that doesn't have as much media presence or whatever the case is, because I would imagine being the GM of that team is going to be a lot of sleepless nights. It's almost got to be like working in as like a mayor or something like that, where you're always on call.
B
Well, there's a guy that is not always on call and he's in Ottawa. And this is the Linus Hallmark story. And this is just bizarre. I tweeted about this last night I was on the plane and we forgot to mention on the show that we recorded on Sunday, that Saturday night, big game. I mean, every game right now for Ottawa is a playoff game. Omar decides he can't play.
E
We didn't talk about this.
B
We didn't talk about.
C
We actually put this one on ice because we didn't know how it was going to shake out, and I'm kind of glad we did.
B
So he decides he's not able to play. All right. Then the news breaks, and Ottawa fans, I think they're. I think they're sick and tired of it. And listen, I'm not sitting here and saying mental health is not real at all. I can't imagine what this guy's gone through. I feel for him. It's brutal. And there's been people in my family who've struggled with depression, and it's a horrible thing to have to battle that stuff. Right? But at some point here, you're making big dough. You're the guy that the team needs right now. They need you most. You got to be willing to play hockey right now. You got to be willing to get in there and play and then to come back. Against Florida on Tuesday night, he gives up five goals on 15 shots. He gave up a goal. He gave up the first two shots the Panthers took. But in the net, that was the hockey gods, Ryan. Yeah, I. And listen, there's going to be a lot of people. Oh, mental health. Mental health. I'm not denying the fact that it can be an enormous struggle for guys, but fuck me, boys, like, this is. This is a team that is relying on you. You have your family in the locker room.
C
Well, and he already got it.
B
And he already got it. And it's not game 37.
E
And he played two days later.
B
You're in a playoff battle right now. And Biz, you're right. He got the break already. And now it's like. I mean, and the fans. And I don't blame the fans. Like, they're disgusted. They're like, this is an absolute joke. All we've needed is a few saves. And then Omar found his game a little bit, and then something else comes up, and you're sitting there pretty much not asking out, but saying, I can't go. Like, I've been in a locker room. You guys have as well. Judge me all you want. If you got a guy that your team needs and you find out before the puck drop that he's like, no, I can't play, it is deflating. And it is really hard to deal with as a teammate because we're all laying it out on the line for you, and I'm sorry you're going through this stuff, but get in here. Get in the fight with us right now. And it's just been. I feel for Ottawa Senators fans, and I feel for the rest of the team.
C
Yeah, like if you, I guess if you talk to goalies of the past, they'd look at how much these goalies are playing and they'd fucking laugh them off stage. Right.
B
Patrick said something like that biz. You're right.
C
I think, yeah, I think he's like the, the, the, the mind, the mind is a lot weaker than the body. Like it's just basically the, the mind playing tricks on you. And obviously those types of guys were, were able to overcome it. And I guess back then just the expectation was if you were a starter, you hot had that dog mentality and you wanted the net, you know, 65, 70 games a year, if not even a little bit more. I bet you Patty Wall was probably playing in the 70 to 72 range most years. And the thing that I guess was surprise. Most surprising was is he did get that break and then he didn't play in the Olympics. So then he had another like, basically three, four weeks off there. And then if you look at the schedule that led up to this game, March 31, like there was only one situation, like I'll, I'll, I'll start in March 3rd when things kick back, or sorry, he played like February 2nd, right before the Olympic break, then the 26th of February 28th, then March 3rd, March 5th, March 7th, March 11th, the 14th, then the 15th, he played. So that was the only back to back that he's played since coming back from the Olympics. And every other time he's gotten either two, if not three, and in some cases four days off to play a game. And boys, they've been down a couple D men too. And you got their D men basically going four to five guys playing, you know, 25 to 30 minutes a night. So it's hard in that situation to not be like, buddy, like, what is going on here? And unless there's something we don't know where. Maybe he had a tweak groin. I think if that, if that was the case, the team would have came out and said something and protect a little bit more. But I would imagine that it's just, it's probably frustration from the coaching staff just being like, well, he needs a little bit of rest. And, and that's where we're at.
B
Travis Green's not going out there trying to like, I think it's, it's, it's obviously something where he's like, I can't play because Travis is like, oh, I wanted him to play basically, you know, and he's choosing not to. And Then like, listen, you know when goalies grab the water off the top of the net or in, you know, after a goal scored and they can maybe make like different faces, but it almost looked like he's like smiling after the fifth goal.
C
Yeah, I think it's probably just a frustration and a, just a brutal body language look that he, he's unaware of.
B
Exactly.
C
So maybe, maybe like, like you, it goes back to the mental health stuff. Like, you hope the guy's all right. I know it's been a year from hell for him personally, and he probably wants just this thing over with, but when you sign an eight point, whatever, $5 million extension for four years and you're being paid like, you're that guy. And if you go back to when he was with Boston, man, it. Those guys are splitting the net, right? So they're not used to playing the 60 games. You even look at Swayman this year? I think Swayman just, I think he just hit the 50 game mark, so he's probably going to end up with 55 games max. So if that's the expectation of these new school goalies and that's it. But I mean, Jesus Christ, man. 8. 8. That's what 8.5 gets it. Give me a fucking break.
E
How do you, like, could you imagine calling your dad and being like, hey, yeah, I just, I didn't have it tonight. I couldn't play, didn't want it. Like, he, he, My dad drove a tractor trailer for 30 years, didn't have a day off. He would have drove his truck to my game, punch me in the face and put me in the game. Like, you're getting paid all this money. You're getting paid to play in the best league in the world. You get treated unbelievably. You need to show up for your teammates, your fans, your coaches. There is no excuse. Like, if he's mentally okay, like, obviously maybe he was mentally drained, he didn't want to play, he thought he was too tired. But my thing is, he played two days later, right, against Florida, started that game. There's no reason that he shouldn't have been playing.
B
Yeah, I think it's, it's just the optics of biz. You brought up the injuries to the defenseman and then everybody doing whatever they can to try to get this team into the playoffs, they get in last year, let's do it again. Let's build something here. We have a good team and the goalie's saying, I can't play.
C
So it's a wild stutzel And Brady went to the Olympics too. They were playing. They were playing through the Olympics. Sanderson not even like they got the three weeks off. So that, that to me is what's mind boggling about all this.
B
But we got our guy Boochie ready to join. Boys, there's so much stuff we could chat about races. And he's ready to go right now. So bring in John Bucce Grass.
D
Hello, boys.
E
Boochie, Boochie Main and the Kangal.
D
I got my shore microphone. I'm a big deal.
B
Yeah, you're a big timer. Yeah, you're a big timer. Now. What is going on, buddy? Why don't you tell us to start? Because you have, you have. You got Frozen four coming up. You're. You're in the weeds on everything right now. Hockey related. But what storyline in the NHL right now, what playoff race, what division are you, like, looking at most interested in?
D
Yeah, we tend to kind of, you know, pay attention to that mushy middle so much or the actually the mushy bunghole. I don't know what to call it down there.
C
He's up.
D
You know, it's like, I like to kind of focus on the top, you know, like, is Buffalo for real? Tampa Carolina. Could this be the year for Rod Brindemore? You know, they make the playoffs every year under him. They normally win a playoff series under him, but they're the best team in hockey. Who hasn't got to the Stanley cup finals in the last nine years? And so I was in Columbus last night called the Blue Jacket Hurricane game. You know, they got a lot of depth. Obviously they don't have the stud up front. Their defense isn't really.
B
Same story, Boochie. The same story.
D
Yeah, same story. And Bussy was amazing last night, but, you know, can. Can they get that goaltending when those guys, you know, they'll see a shot every 20 minutes and suddenly here comes a grade A. Are you ready? And so that can sometimes be a tough way to play goalie. So, yeah, curious about Carolina and really, you know, it's all about the Avalanche. If I had to bet a paycheck on who's going to win, it's. It's hard to imagine them not winning the Cup. I would be a gigantic disappointment if they don't. So to me, that's probably the Avalanche. And to me, it's like do or die.
C
You just mentioned Carolina. Were you disappointed that they didn't go push for a second line? Center Stank Oven's been playing that role. All year, which they love them there in Carolina. And anytime you criticize any other moves or lack thereof, their fan base is like rapid dogs. Were you disappointed they didn't considering this year the way it's shaken out, Pushing more chips?
A
Yeah.
D
Especially if Robert Thomas was really out there. I don't know how much he really was. That would have been the guy that I think really could have brought them up a notch. Dan Coven, it's interesting. I didn't think he would make it all this season as their second line center. Him and Blake together, though, you know, they're a fun watch. They get in your face, especially Blake. That guy is sneaky.
B
Yeah, he's got some rat in him.
D
Oh, a lot of rat in him. And he had a good skate trip last night of Charlie Coyle coming out of the zone and went to the box. So, you know, they're. They'll compete and they'll go hard, but I just wonder, you know, especially, you know, Buffalo is a heavy team now. People don't realize that Buffalo kind of strangely evolved into this big kind of heavy team. And like, that would be a hard matchup if they get there. Tampa, that might be a little bit more of Carolina's jam. I actually think that's a better matchup for them, just from a size perspective.
E
Does Buffalo scare you a little bit with the goaltending? I know they've been. They've looked great this year. Like you said, they're big, they're fast, they've been playing Austin. They're the. The Cinderella story of the league. But the goaltending for me going into the playoffs is the only thing that scares me a bit, buddy.
C
They have Alex Lyon.
B
I know, but Alex Lyon gets you
D
into the playoffs, gets you in and then ball over, you know, the Lion Lyons say he. He saved the Panther season number one against the Bruins. So Bob got reset. That was. I was quite a. But you're right, it's a little scary. You know, they've given up 221 goals, so they have to score. But, you know, that's. That was a cool way they won last night. You know, it's a tight, low scoring game and I look, Krebs has really evolved into a good player. He's just really a character guy, kind of a culture guy. Then they brought Doan in as well, and. And they really kind of. They're a good kind of foundation of. Of nastiness underneath the Tage Thompson, you know, glitz and glamour and Darlene. So, you know, in the end that Eichel trade has turned out not terrible in the end, especially if they ever got a cup. Right now, obviously Jack has the cup, so that. That obviously Vegas wins that trade until maybe Buffalo can get it all square. But, you know, Tuck and Krebs have turned out to be key guys. Krebs played a lot in the top line this year. I don't think he's really a top line guy, per se, but he can go up and down. Fights, guys, it's like, I like that dude.
B
I like him too. And talking about doing the Columbus game last night, so it's been a incredible story. Bones comes in, they go on this run. Then Sunday they lose a 3 nothing lead at home to the Bruins. Like, kind of like, oh, hopefully that's a one off. But he had some quotes after that. There's some guys in our team that got to learn how to play in these big games and they're not really there yet. And then they lose last night at home again. I still believe they're going to get in. I root for that team based on their fan base and how passionate they are with the lack of playoff success. But are you worried at all? What do you think about what he's saying about some of the young guys on the team? And my final thing for them is Van Till, he's like, he's had a solid year, but I think coming in, it was like, this kid's gonna be. He could be a superstar in the league. Do you still see that as a possibility with him being so young?
D
I don't know. Superstar. I think he's gonna be a goal scorer. Like, that shot last night was gross. My goodness, can he powder the puck? And he's playing with Marchenko all year. He should have more goals. Marchenko is a star. Like, that dude is so good. He's their best player by far. Like, when you sit up high, as you guys know at a game, you can just tell.
B
Best forward.
D
Player.
B
Best forward. Yeah, right.
D
Best four. Right? And Rensky. And I think Rensky is almost spent. I think the guy's out of gas. You guys know, you, you've been there. I know at the high school level when you show up like, I don't got it, I come, I am done.
E
Well, you can just take a night off nowadays in the NHL if you don't got it.
D
So, you know, it's so. I just really think he's having a hard time now. He has. He's not scoring goals, which they kind of need him to score goals, and he's only got what, one, I think since the Olympic break. But, you know, Marchenko was very good last night. He could have had a hat trick. But yeah, I think Fantilly, I just don't know if he's going to get to that superstar. His contract's very interesting to me as an rfa. Like, what's his play? You know, does the, do the Blue Jackets kind of tempt him with a Matt Boldy 7 times 7 and then, you know, hope he becomes a $12 million player like Matt Boldy is now? Or do they kind of go, let's go two or three, let's go three times something. Maybe his side, same thing. It's like, well, let's go two or three. But I don't know, I just wonder if, if he has the, the elite, maybe hockey sense to make others better. I wonder if he's just a really goal scoring phenom. But he's a Bull. He's a great kid. He's slowly getting better. So maybe, you know, when he's 26, 27, 28, he's going to turn into this 50 goal, 30 assists point per game guy. But he hasn't quite shown you. He's a point per game guy, but he's playing with good teammates. And again, he's 21. I keep forgetting he's 20 because he looks 31. He looked 31. He was at Michigan, you know, as a freshman. He's already got the full beard, you know, and he's a full grown man. So maybe when he made. Maybe we need to give him time and he will turn into be a 90 point, 40 to 50 goal, absolute wagon of a, of a forward.
C
Were you. Did you have a chance to watch them? I think live. You were there and you did the canon earlier in the year.
D
Yeah, I did.
C
I think I remembered that actually Rensky's dad did it the other day as well. Nice. Have you noticed the difference in Fantilly big time since Bones took over and if not just him like other guys as well or. No?
D
Yeah, no, like I said, he's just. His goal total is down this year. You know, he had 31 last year and, and he missed time, you know, this year he hasn't missed a game. And I think, you know, at first he was probably trying to figure out what Bones wanted defensively because obviously they had to tighten it up. I mean, they blew the third period lead against the Sharks on Saturday, blew the three nothing league to the Bruins on Sunday. I mean, that's the story of their season. They win those two games, which they should have, they're probably in because now the Bruins are in and the Canadiens are in. So now it's just those 5, 16. They got the Capitals now all of a sudden. I mean they win the rest of their games. They might see sneak in. So it's, it's so strange down there at the bottom and you know, between the, the ottaw, which you guys were just talking about before I popped on again, the Bruins are fine, they're in. But the Islanders last night, again, tough one. And now, and now the Blue Jackets, I don't know, can someone reset here in these last six, seven games and boom, win five of six, four of six. Because that's. If you do that, you're going to make it.
C
You said it like Washington was kind of like dead to rights. And then they trade Carlson. And even looking at the remaining games on the schedule, it's a very winnable schedule. Like, I wouldn't be shocked if they only lost one more game to close out the year. Like, can we pull up who they got left, boys? I think they have like, I think they have Toronto.
E
Yeah, I got three here.
D
Yeah, they're 772 in their last 11. They're one point behind the Flyers, Senators and Red Wings. I mean they're one point behind. I know they played more games and they're only three points behind the Blue Jackets. So that was a big night last night for Washington.
C
OVI's taken D zone draws. All of a sudden he had, he's now I think set the NHL record for 20 consecutive 30 goal seasons with a late push. He's had seven goals in the last seven games and definitely sparked in that game against Utah when he had two defensive zone draws to break that.
B
That might, that might get them in the playoffs. The defensive zone face off every new. Let's talk quickly in mushy middle you're talking about these teams, but Detroit Biz sent a stat this morning. Their numbers in March over the last three seasons. It's actually, you can't even wrap your head around it because it doesn't make sense. And this year, the way they look like they're in trouble now based on how it's going. I mean they get drummed last night by the Penguins and they're getting drummed in games lately that are like, you know, they're all must win games. What are you seeing there?
D
Yeah, there it is right there. There's their March record last four years.
B
That's 7:35 and 5.
D
Yeah, I mean, obviously the Larkin injury hurt them a lot. You know, they, again, they're kind of like, you know, they kind of don't have that big time guy almost like Carolina as well. You know, Larkin and Ajo are probably pretty comparable. Larkin, I might take him a hair over Ajo a little bit. I was going to have a career high in assist this year, so. Svesnikov is close to his career high. Ehlers is having a career year, more points, assisting goals. He might not get to 30.
B
He's.
D
He could get there, but he's having a career year in points and assists, so. So, yeah, so Detroit, they're kind of similar that way to Carolina. You know, the goalies don't really have a guy. Their defense is good. Obviously cider kind of blossom this year. Edmondson's common, but he's not there every night. And then obviously they made the move at the deadline, but after that, it's not an impressive decor in front of up and down goalies who had a great start. You know, Gibson was saving them. They come down to earth. So, yeah, it's just not a team. It's just not quite a strong enough team that we're. Hey, we're top five in the conference, so they're gonna, they're gonna hang around there. I thought, I've had them out for a while now. I just don't think there's enough gas there. Left it. It just doesn't seem. And now it. It's strange because they definitely have assets. They definitely, you know, they did. They got unlucky with some of their lottery ball situations, and when they had the picks and where they had the picks, you know, you're kind of a prisoner to that. You know, the Sharks win the lottery and they're celebrating and everybody's going to be rich in that franchise for 15 more years. You know, the GMs getting three, four contracts, the coach getting three, four, all because of that guy. Right?
B
But he's got to be there. That lottery ball, it's like the guy's got to be.
D
And then the guy's got to be there, right? And just like the Islanders, they go from, what, 10 to 1 and then Schaefer's there. Everybody's going to be rich. Everybody's getting a raise, you know, and. And so unfortunately for Detroit, that just didn't happen. And now they're trying.
B
How do.
D
How can we get the guy and how can we get a couple guys at this point, right? And maybe one of them is going to come out of nowhere. One of these second or third rounders and you know, that they just drafted the last three years. Like, you know, here comes a Braden Point or a Brad Marchand or a Patrice Bergeron. These non first rounders that suddenly blossom in the hall of Famers, that's what they're going to need now.
C
Just like Ottawa, the fans are revolting a little bit. They're. Oh, we want Stevie gone.
A
All.
C
There was one talk radio guy talking about stripping the sea from Larkin. So they're off the rails now. I don't dig. Have you heard any rumblings, like you talk to anyone if, if Detroit were to fizzle out again for the fourth year in a row in March, what, What is the consequence? Or do you think that Because, Steve, it's Stevie, why he has a leash as. As long as you can. You can see, I would.
D
I can't imagine the illiches ever departing from him. You know, I think they'll let him make that decision, whether it's one of those move up and let hor cough or drapes come in and maybe just, you know, tweak a little bit, but because I think they're in a decent shape right now. It's just that next move. What are you gonna. What's that next move? You know. And again, I think these next couple years, people are gonna become available, like, you know, taking inventory of their careers, you know, whether it's Matthews, whether it's McDavid. Just looking around them. Okay, here I'm 30 now. Damn, what happened to my 20s? And I gotta try to figure something out. And so there's always. Those guys always become available like Quinn Hughes did and, you know, Jack Eichel did. Every once in a while that person will pop up and you gotta be ready to pounce. And for whatever reason, Stevie just hasn't wanted to really, you know, unload some of those guys in the American League that maybe could get a pretty good player. And. But maybe his argument is, you know, that's just not. And he might be right. We don't know that. That, that, that's too much for that guy. That guy won't be a difference maker. They pay me to make this decision. That guy, not quite the guy. And so, you know, but I think it will be up to him to answer your question directly. I think it's his call.
E
But like the last, you know, we just saw the stats of the last few marches in last year. Stevie said, you know, basically, I don't think our team was there yet to make the next step. That's why they didn't make any trades this year. They didn't really do too much, even though they had been playing well this season. Does it come on him where it's like, hey, you got to go out and get some. Some guys to help your team late in the. In the season to get this push going? Because clearly there's something going on in March and whether it's, you know, after the deadline where the players are pissed off, not playing well, or, you know, they got to retool and get some. But he hasn't done that.
D
No, it's. It's a little surprising. He's been very patient in that regard. And, yeah, I don't know if anybody in that organization. I'm sure they've had some good meetings with everybody in a room and, and maybe they're pushing him a little bit to be aggressive and, and this guy in Grand Rapids and that guy maybe can get that guy. But yeah, man, he's a. He's a. As you know, he's a prideful guy, and I'm sure he grinds over it all the time. He can be a Debbie Downer sometimes, you know, looking at his team and, and, you know, oh, woe is us. And nah, we can't score and. And so. But he's such a hyper competitor. But yeah, that's a. It's a. It's an interesting situation. I can't imagine in that organization who goes to him to aggressive, make a big move. I'm sure he's trying to win. He's trying to get good players. He's done it for a long time, you know, in Tampa. He's very qualified for the job. He's always wanted it. He's. As a player. I remember having him on NHL tonight and he would join us. I'm like, this guy's going to be like, this guy is the kind of guy that goes to Denny's at 2am and writes the Olympic roster on a place mat. Like, okay, who's making the Olympic roster? Boys? Like, he's doing that as a player. The legend, Stevie. So you knew he was going to be a gm, and he lives for this, so. But it's a long time, and at some point, maybe it takes a tweak. You know, Buffalo, you know, a different situation with their gm. But what happened there, how it changed every. Everybody got a big chess all of a sudden, for whatever reason, when they changed the gm, it just felt better about everything. I don't know if Detroit, if, If they need. Just whether it's a big move. Or like I said, if he moved up, someone came in and boom, they just unloaded all these prospects and got this huge player. Would that then ignite the rest of the roster and the team and give them kind of that buffalo chest that Buffalo got this year? You know, maybe the, maybe that's what Stevie Y needs to think about. Maybe it's not so much winning a trade perhaps is I need to do something gigantic because then the rest of the team will get better. Because in the end, that's what you want. You want everybody to get a little bit better. That's how you win. You know, one guy doesn't win a game when he leaves the team or one guy when he comes on the team. So I wonder if that would just psychologically is what the organization and the team needs. Larkin on down, cider, all those guys. Because when you're fighting every night, like, is the guy behind me? I don't, I don't mean that literally, but we need some help here. We know we need help. And if that happened, then I think everybody would get better. So it could have a seismic effect. If this summer, Stevie decides I'm going to hit him, I'm swinging from the heels and I'm going for the sit
C
go sign which says that McDavid's going there. So I don't know if they'll make
B
a big never, never, never. He, he's trying to, that was AI
D
rattle me right now.
B
He's trying to rattle me right now.
C
I, I, I wanted to ask about one team in the East.
B
Okay, go ahead.
C
Because we just, we covered basically everyone, Everyone keeps saying, ah, it might be a little bit of luck involved. When's it going to die off? The Pittsburgh Penguins, they're fifth in league for goals four. Who the hell would have seen that? I think somebody put a list out of guys, including Brazil, how many goals they've gotten with $7 million. Speaker 0.
B
I have that tweet biz. Want me to read it to you?
C
Yeah, read it out.
B
So Mantha has 30. Kindle has 17. Brazo has 17. China cough Chinikov. I think he's got 15. He might have more now. That's 79 goals brought in by Dubas at a combined 7 million plus. He dumped Jari on the couple clicks
C
for the Duba stock.
B
So you called, you called Chinikov a while ago. Like you've, you've, you've had your eyes on him. I remember you tweeting about him.
E
I think you just like his name.
D
Turn Your head and Sheikoff. Turn your head and Chinikov. Yeah, that's. I just like the name. But no, he's a. He was fast, could shoot. I called his games last couple years. There were moments of just absolute. You know, you could see it. You could see it. And when he got traded, I go, I could see him getting 30 goals like for that team. I think his rate's 35 right now with the Penguins. You know, if you just prorated it out. But they get the fifth most goals in the league. Dan Muse is so far and away the coach of the year. To me. It's not even close at this point.
C
Good for.
D
You know, I always say every team that makes the playoffs, there's probably an argument for the coach to win coach of the year. Everyone has a different story, you know, to, to be coach of the year. But that one is so obvious at the beginning of the year how fast they looked with the puck since Game 1. Carlson is at a different level. What that someone like a 40 year old Malkin can have a really good year point per game here and an 18 year old Kindle can have a comfortable year and a guy like Carlson reclamation can have a great year and a guy like manta is getting 30. Not mo mantha. Penguin fans, it's Anthony Mantha.
B
I thought he was out of the league at one point. Like he was.
D
Like his career was to me. What Dan used.
C
Mo man was my coach. Junior. Did you know, Booch, that in a game in the NHL he used to tie his skates so loose that he, he was rounding the net and it got caught and his boot fell off in an NHL game he used to tie up. Yeah, exactly. Exactly.
D
Wow.
C
That's.
D
Does anybody still not wear socks like Bobby Orr did? Does anybody in the league not wear socks?
C
You guys know there's some guys who wear the bunga for their ankle part and then nothing on their toes. I've seen.
B
Really?
D
Okay.
E
I think Ekblad's no socks.
D
Okay.
E
If I can remember correctly. I might be wrong though.
D
A good story idea for CM journalists out there.
C
Booch. I. I agree. So I actually got scalded by Buffalo Sabers fans online because we had them on the broadcast and I had my top three as John Cooper. I had Muse and then. And then Rick Bonus at the time. Now they've obviously lost a funeral. Who are your top three for coach of the year? As we speak.
E
He only got one.
C
Yes, no, I know. But I want to hear who his other guys on the ballot would be.
D
I think first the guys who have really made the most impact for me culturally and as you can see on the ice is Muse, Marco Sturm and Boston is another guy. What he's done, they did not expect to be this good. You know, again guys like Houston Dinof with 16 goals and, and you know, up and down the lineup and, and yeah, those are to me are the two big ones. Then you can go, you go Lindy. You could go Cooper. Cause he's never won one. You could go Lindy Ruff because again they're having an amazing year again. Rod Brindemore, it's the same thing every year. They get 100 points every year. You know, so in terms of a regular season coach and Joel Quinville, you know, if they win the division, that's pretty cool what Anaheim has done. You know, that's the third longest drought after Red Wing Sabers is the Ducks. So like you're, they're, they're in that kind of, they're in that group. So again to step in there again, but all kinds of talent. So. But I do think it's, I do think it's, it's Sturm and Muse are kind of at a different level than everybody else with their team.
C
So the reason I got Coop, see people seem to think my like top end argument is oh, because he's never won it before. You look at man games lost and I think Buffalo is actually ahead of them. But if you look at the significance of guys they lost to man games they lost Sorelli point those top their whole D core and right now Buffalo with one more game played is two points ahead of him. If Tampa Bay wins the hardest division in hockey. And the biggest thing too is you see these like tenured coaches look at Cassidy after four years, like how much he wore on players. You're hearing a media member said that it was four years from hell. The fuck they won it when the guy was having a miserable time. For you to be in a locker room that long and your voice to still have that much impact and carry so much weight, to me that is, is part of the criteria. It's like you're motivating these guys. Just like you talked about Muse and Sturm empowering these kind of these no name guys who we had no clue about, all of a sudden they're getting 20, 25 goals a year. To me that's an element of coaching is empowering these players. So that's why I had Coop in my top three. And no offense to Lindy Ruff. I just. When you're. When your GM can't even, can't even confirm that you're going to be the coach the next year and he had to come in and basically give everybody a pee pee whack that let their. I view those other three guys as more important pieces including Sturm like you said.
B
Yeah, yeah.
D
I mean Coops had the goalie and those guys don't have the goalie. The hall of Fame. So luckily he's been there all year. But you're right. Guys are in and out. He should win one. But also I, if I have another vote this year I had for about last four, not for coach of the year but for all the other ones. MVP Norris rookie. I'm counting the, the gold medal game in my voting. That's Bucci's rule. That counts. So if it's close, Zacharyski wins the north because he made that play. That counts. That's a weighted.
C
Okay.
D
All right.
B
Canadian Canadians are going to love hearing this gold medal.
D
Maybe he's my coach of the year, but I'm not sure now I view
C
that as more of a distraction. He had to worry about doing all that and then and then and on top their course. He was unbelievable in that game. I don't know if you're an advanced
B
analytics guy Tampa lately I don't know if you've noticed that one of the best big game players in the league is, is just catching fire in gentle like this guy right now. He's just, you know when you just round into form right before the playoffs and it kind of leads me before I get west. I do want to bring up right now it would be Tampa, Montreal quickly. We chatted Montreal and Keith Pelly saying he didn't know they had a team this year and what they've done is incredible. They've won six in a row right now they're beaten good teams. They're winning games on the road. Caulfield could end up winning the Rocket. Richard, do you see them as a, as a legitimate threat or is it one of those things that the Canadians haters are saying like oh, Tampa will drum them round one.
D
I don't think anybody's drumming anybody except the Avalanche. You know the Avalanche will. They're going to sweep their first round, you know, maybe five. I hope Celebrity gets that eighth spot because that would be so fun even saying that. That's a good one for us in the, you know, TV business to, to obviously market and promote for those later games at night and those double headers. That would that would add a little pizzazz out west to the playoff situation. But otherwise, yeah, I don't think it's a pushover. Anybody's a pushover. You know, Montreal, obviously they can score. They have big time. You know, Caulfield is such an electric player. He's a big time, big moment player. It is different in the playoffs though, for sure. And Tampa does have the recipe. And I go back to that Tampa Buffalo game, you know, with all the fights and stuff. That was so much fun watching then you guys were on it and it was just a great, a great viral X moment. That's that it was built for Twitter, a game like that because people got on board, they didn't know it was happening. I was on there from the start. It was a Sunday, it was 6:00 clock start, like, oh, I'll watch this game. And then all of a sudden you could feel the whole sports world coming on to that game. It was so fun. That's the great thing about, about Twitter X so and so I think Tampa Bay did that and they've done it a couple times this year. You know, they're the number one penalty minute team by far. Like it's not even close. They're well over a thousand. They have twice as many as a lot of teams. And I do I. Because I think they realize since they lost that cup finals to Colorado and they haven't won a playoff series since that they need to start getting back to that kind of nasty dirty hockey.
B
And they got away from Perry was. Is back there, I think.
D
Yep, for sure. And so, you know, it would be tough on Montreal and I think Tampa's going to get that. I think they're going to somehow squeeze out that top spot. And you know, right now they're point percentage ahead of Buffalo, I believe because they played one less game and they have. Although they're right, they're, they're, they're almost identical. It really is something. And Tampa Bay is good at home and the road, 23 wins each and again, that also actually goes to business, you know, argument in terms of being good on the road at home. That's sometimes coaching too. That's sometimes a coaching stat when you're a good team on the road and dealing with matchups and how could I say one step ahead and, and, and that that's probably a lot of fun for a coach like Coop is to fear that stuff out on the road.
C
Actually, I lied. I got one more question about an Eastern Conference team we haven't talked about. The Philadelphia Flyers, another team in Pennsylvania.
D
Is Biz muted?
B
Oh, no. Can you not hear him?
D
I can't. I can hear you, Biz. Just leave and come back. Leave and come back. He's heard that a few times in his life.
B
Oh, yeah. Oh, my God.
D
Just Biz. Just leave and come back.
B
Just leave and come back. I. I guess we can go right into what Biz just mentioned in the Flyers, right? Like that.
C
That.
B
I'm very interested to hear your Meechkov thoughts. But Porter Martone comes in. You're a big college hockey guy. He makes an immediate impact in his first game. They lose, unfortunately, because they've been on a run, but what do you see out of that team? Do you think they have a chance? Do you get the frustration and the anger of the fans about Mechkov and anyone who ever criticizes any part of his game? Like, give us your whole breakdown of Philly.
D
Yeah, I'm actually a fan of Meech Goff again. Turn your head in, Meech. Cough another one. You know, those are, those are my guys. But, you know, early on I thought he had kind of that Caprize off, you know, Gene, in terms of not a fast player, slows the game down, can think the game will make other players better, can make an elite, you know, hockey sense. Play and pass. Probably doesn't quite have the shot Caprizov has. That's. That's what's amazing about him is he's a finisher like Kucherov. Again, those guys who play at their own pace And I think McKenna will be that kind of player too, who plays a slower pace but has this rocket of a shot that can finish and that takes him to that other level. I don't know if Meech Cop's going to be scoring off balance, 40 foot one timers from his knee in the upper corner. Like, you know, that's. That those guys do and that fan Tilly did last night, that kind of shot. But I do think, and remember when Caprisov came over, he's 23 years old, right? This kid's 18. Culturally, probably wasn't quite managed correctly on his side on, on, you know, immersing himself in the professional game and the talent wasn't quite enough and his surroundings maybe, and then that might not be his fault. Just the collection of guys, like a lot has to go into it, right? For things to work out quickly in all of our lives. Any job like as you know, it just kind of falls into place. Kind of like chickless just fell in the place right now you guys are going. Anybody who comes in with a line change, they just pick it up because the, the culture is strong and the team is good and that's. And that. That's kind of like it, right? And the Flyers weren't that, you know, they were, you know, and so that's part of it for him. It just. But I think there's enough there that it will turn out to be good. It's just not. It's. It's a slow start now. I could be off and maybe if you're good, you're good. And if it should have happened, it should have happened by now. But, you know, torts and talk it are two guys who aren't going to take your. Aren't going to take your. And although Rick has been so good on the bench, I love that video earlier this year when he's trying to. He's trying to make peace with Mishkoff on the bench when he's losing it, remember? And talk is coming over. He's got good body language. He's. I know because Rick, as you know, is an elite people person. That's the thing people don't realize about Rick Talkett. He is an absolute right in like, like that Cooper range of just like, of connecting with people and owning a room and owning the space and kind of like, you know, almost charming you with him, connecting with you. Like, he, he's really good at that and that's why he's. I think he's. He's such a good coach. And so in the end it might be talk and then the, the better players coming in and create some sort of culture of competition. Right? Earn your ice time. You know, when there's not. It was not when there's teammates that you don't respect. I don't mean any human sense, but like in a talent sense, he's looking around like, well, I'm better than these guys. I know I'm better than him. There's no one better than me. We do that our own job sometimes. And to try to okay, I can, I can move up this organization now that the good players are coming in, maybe he'll realize, oh, he's, he's good. I got to get a little better. And then he'll motivate himself, have more self motivation to improve himself in all areas of his game. Because that's as a, as you know, as a professional, that's what you got to do. You got to have that dedication. Like Bedard went home last summer and got faster. I can't wait. I Can't wait to see what he's better at next year. Because that's the guy who's just going to keep going like this. Because every summer, celebrity, Crosby McDavid, those kinds of guys, that's. Those are the ones who do that. And I can't wait to see what Bedard does like he did last summer. And that's what Meshkov has to do. He's going to take inventory and say, where am I going to get better? And then do that.
B
Let me ask you about Martone, then, because you've seen him and, like, you know, high pick, big kid. Like, what do you see his future? As if everything works out as the Flyers plan.
D
He needs to turn into the third Tkachuk. Like, that should be his whole mind. He's got skill, he's got size. His teammates love him. He learned how to train and beat himself in Michigan State. He's. Like I said, his teammates love him. And he just needs to go in there with attitude and become a Chuck. And he will own that city. I mean, he will own that city. He can shoot it. He got size. So he's. That's what I would do if I were him. I would look at film. I would. I would call Brady and Matthew and hang out with them and their dad and just talk hockey. You know, go to St. Louis and, you know, when it gets too hot in Naples and, you know, when they're all heading to Missouri, all the Kachuks, I would go to St. Louis and I would hang out. I would, like, literally do that for him. And. And they'll do it. They'll bring them in. Hey, man, I want to meet you guys. I want to hang out. I'll get a Hotel in St. Louis. We'll go play golf. We'll go to. You'll have a, you know, cookout. We'll hear Walt on the grill and just tell stories and talk about hockey. Have a few Mick Ultras, 27 of them, and just talk hockey. Love that. That's what I would do. I'm Puerto Martone. Seek out. You know, there's. Copying people is a good way for all of us, whatever job we have, identify a person and say, I'm gonna. I'm gonna mimic them. Because you'll. You'll always be yourself in the end. There's too much of you that whatever comes out is going to be mostly you. But if you identify someone, you know, I can copy him. I can't copy them. I'm not that, but I'm that. I can be I can do that and that's what I would do if I'm him.
B
You mentioned torts and you've had the chance to work with him in the studio at ESPN and this thing comes out of nowhere. The Cassidy firing towards hiring. They get a first, first game win for him. They beat Vancouver. Like they had to get that dub. But what do you see going in? What did you learn about him that maybe you didn't know while working with him covering games? And do you think that he can get that team figured out? Going a little bit of a run.
D
He's, he's the power of personality. He's the Fonz. You know, he's Arthur Fonzarelli. He looked like him when he was younger. And he walks in a room and he's got energy, he's got discipline. I remember this year I was going, you work late night ESPN and these double headers and biz, you know, at TNT you get bored so you just start eating crap. You go down the vending machine and I'm, I'm getting Nutter Butters and Oreos and you know, and oh, how. Yeah, I'll have this, this, I'll have this Red Bull at midnight and this will, this will do my heart great. And so, but, but he, he always try to cut himself off. Cut him. Now I'm fine. You want something towards.
B
No, no, no.
D
You know, he wants something, but he does. Yeah. Then we go back and we're sitting, we're watching the games and I got my Nutter Butters. I go towards just one, just. Okay, just one. He has another butter, but that's it. So like he's 67, he's turned 68 this summer. But he has, it still has that discipline, that this is important and he still has energy. He gets up early, he's got the, the horses and the dogs on the farm down in Florida. All those rescue horses and dogs that he and his wife take care of. He's up early doing that work. Remember he got kicked in the eye by the horse when he was coaching the Flyers or something.
C
That's what I thought happened to Chief.
D
Yes. So. But I think I, you know, in their under, their underlying numbers are good, but. Yeah, you mentioned the Canucks. They got the Flames tonight. They had two days of practice. Now they got the, the Flames tonight. Now they go on a four game road trip out west, right? Edmonton, Vancouver, Seattle, Colorado. Now you can kind of get together with the team and, and do that. As you know that on the road trip, that's when that happens. You had two. Plus, after the Edmonton game, they could fly to Vancouver that night, have two days of practice before they play the Canucks, and then come back home for two more. And now, okay, give me three weeks. It's like a training camp mindset to get the guys ready to go to, to get them playing together and just to reset them, you know, because again, that they are who they are. And let's face it, this is more of a veteran team. Remember, Torts had at the end of Columbus, they were going to rebuild, right? I don't want to be a part of this goes to Philly. Suddenly it becomes a rebuild. You know, it just didn't, it didn't work out. And so they realized, okay, we got to pivot here and we got to start drafting and getting some young prospects. We just don't have them. And so again, that's not the best fit for Torts. This team's actually a better fit, I think, for him. And I think he learned with his assistant coach role with four nations in the Olympics that I gotta, I gotta ease up a little bit. He said that to me last night when I interviewed in between periods of the game, he goes, yeah, I need to change a little bit. That was a, it was, it was a subtle line, but to me it's, it was like a trumpet on top of a mountain screaming like, hey, I admit it, I gotta ease up a little bit here. I can't talk to these guys. Like I might talk to, you know, someone, a young player on the Flyers, you know, trying to get them going. So it's. It, to me, it's just an organism. Give them three weeks, give a torch three week training camp that just as they enter that opening series against Edmonton, which I think the Ducks will hang on to that division. But whether it's the Ducks or Edmonton, that they're ready and prepared to win a seven game series, you know, as much as possible. And I think that's what this is, a three week torch training camp to get them ready for the playoffs.
C
Yeah, I think we said the same thing. It's almost like he's got to kind of bring the teaching as much as he does the pom poms and just be tire pumping the guys and, and kind of make it like a tournament setting, you know, in those types of tournaments, that's how you have to approach it because if you lose the room, it's like tournament over, right?
D
So in barbecue, that's the old flop pit stop, the old slow pitch softball tournament weekend lines, lose two and barbecue double elimination tournament.
C
Not the worst. Yeah. Not the worst thing at slow pitch.
D
No.
C
Since we've been asking about these teams over and over, what's your thoughts on the 1 through 8 versus what they got going right now? Are you frustrated with that like everybody else?
D
No, I don't care. You know, whatever, whatever they want to do, I'll watch. I'm going to watch anyway, you know. Yeah, it's not real fair for Minnesota and Dallas maybe in the first round, but Minnesota hasn't looked like world beaters the last month. Maybe you just play better and then win and so, you know, it's. Yeah, so I just, I, I like the 18 better. It just, it look, it's easier to figure out and look and to me just, you know, my brain is just easier to go 1-827 then look at oh division wild card. Then he goes here so. But to me, I really don't care. Some things I just choose not to have an opinion on and get upset and that's one of them I'm going to watch either way.
B
I got to ask about my squad because Edmonton's out there won their fourth in a row for the first time this season. It took them 75 games to get four in a row. I still believe in this team. It's obviously say you get Vegas first round and then I think they're more likely to win the second round than they are the first round based on Anaheim and say Utah maybe, but sure after that. Do you think that they can do this again or are you just. If they play Colorado or Dallas, are they in one?
D
Yeah, that's how, that's what I see it as is. Yeah, they're playing their best now and you know, once, once Connor had the pillow, the pillow fight line and then the, the, the ten dozen flowers he sent John Cooper in that one news drum. Oh my goodness.
B
You gotta ask. He goes, you gotta ask knobber about that.
C
Yeah, but did you see, did you see the clip of it though? I felt like his body language is nowhere near of how bad the quote was. Booch, you're looking at me a certain way. You're not changing your expression.
D
I watched the quote. I didn't read it. I watched him, you know and it was just those two combined. I kind of. He's like, all right, I, I've really challenged myself. I better get going here.
C
Somebody tweeted out a mind would be if, if Edmonton would have gassed Knob Block and and hired Butch Ca. That would have been a bit of a Mind torpedo right there. And I wouldn't.
D
Yeah, I wouldn't rule it out yet. You never know. Bruce, he's a great coach. He'll be in the league next year. He'll be right back. That guy is a absolute great tactician and as in a strategic type coach. So he'll be. In fact, I like him in Columbus. I think Columbus, because I don't. Bonuses, bonus is going back to that boat. He ain't spending a winter in Columbus, let me tell you that. I think he sees this team now as okay, we're good and they still might get in, but going forward, I don't think, you know, he sees them as an elite team anytime soon.
C
So he's gonna be like the, the guys who get to go over to Russia and miss training camp. He might just. He might be the new repairman.
B
Bonus, he'll hang out in January every year.
D
Yeah.
E
Be unreal.
D
Just a temp. Yeah, I'm just a temp. You know, it's a good way. Same with torches, you know, hey, it's a two week contract and although I'm sure Torts got a big check he wasn't doing for some prorated two week paycheck, you know, what do you think
C
he got a million bucks, right?
D
Wow, beautiful. Hey, that's a good number, right?
B
Yeah.
D
Oh yeah.
B
And, and by the way, if Torts,
D
if they go, he's not coming for $67,000, $80,000.
C
We're going to give you a free room. We're going to put you in old Vegas.
D
He's not taking a pay cut. I'm sure he is pretty good. He's not taking a pay cut to go coach Vegas, you know what I mean? Because he sacrificed our money.
C
Money.
D
Yeah, Offset. Although Vegas gets the offset, right? Whatever. I don't know how that coaching money, TV money offset thing works. Right?
B
Yeah, you cover the rest.
C
He's got to wear a headset.
D
The whole TNT paying pocket salary in Philly, is that, is that how that worked? I don't know.
C
I think, I think they're tripping in. Yeah, yeah. Him and Wayne, TNT and Wayne Boochie
E
going back to Edmonton. And you know, there's been some questions about Leon. When he's going to come back, if he's going to be back for first round. It was, it was kind of in the gray area. His quotes, right. Have you heard anything on him and do you expect him to be back for first round?
D
Well, you go to Germany and get some of that blood plasma and those vitamins he's going to come back. He's going to come back probably 6, 62 50.
E
The old vegetable.
B
Like the old Ovi trips to Russia.
D
Remember we used to go home?
A
Yeah.
D
Just ever since Homie got on that camel at Dubai he hasn't stopped scoring goals at age 40. So maybe yeah maybe Leon got on a camel as well. Maybe he went to Dubai. But have not heard been no whispers. So I think everyone just kind of maybe just hey take, you know, take the month. Whether it's a maybe. Obviously it's something that probably needs surgery, right? Whatever it is. I don't know. Maybe he had this. If it was an mcl. Was it a tear? I don't know. Something. But whatever happened to cry? Maybe Sid's gonna have to still have off season surgery. I don't know. Or maybe it's all healed up. But I don't know about Leon. You have not heard and but it's that Edmonton there's nothing like that team.
E
They.
D
They just like kind of like biz turn it off and come back. You know same. That's what they do. They're like biz with the microphone and back when he was a player wheeling.
C
I think a lot of the people would hope I I just didn't come back.
D
Get out, come back. Just get out and come back.
E
Booshi's again another Edmonton question. You think if Boosh didn't have that 10 game stretch that he had this year that it was laugh out loud funny hockey that he would be started the year too.
B
It was the beginning of the year.
E
Bacardi Bush like do you think he'd be the free. He'd be the front runner for the Norris right now?
D
I don't know if he'd be the front runner because you know it is such a stigma the poor guy has. Especially when you know Ferraro absolutely deep fried him on national television. That game on the island. The old air fryer just cover Crisco all over him and shove him in the air fryer. That's what Ferraro did the Bouchard. But no, I mean I had him on my Olympic team every time we did little rosters, you know me Frank, Frank Saravalli on our little stream cast. It was like why isn't this guy on the team? He's clearly a right handed shot playoff guy who can absolutely a magician back there. So you know but obviously that that shows you what Team Canada felt about him. That's the stigma that he has that Team Canada didn't even have it on the roster over. You know, Colton Pareco had zero goals entering the Olympics. You know, zero.
B
Well, I, I do want to say like Ekhom talking about Bouchard, granted this is a teammate, but, but I watched the Oilers games. He says he's an unbelievable hockey player. He's taken steps every year. I don't think anyone should disagree. He's a top five defenseman in the NHL. He has a complete game. It's not just his shot, it's his breakout passes. He plays in the pk, he finds guides in stride with perfect passes out of the zone. He defensively is way better than people think. It's just like you said, the occasional clip where you're like, oh my God, he's pink. He's up on the pink witch.
D
Exactly. And you know, you know who he is. He just kind of dawned on me. He's Sam Darnold. Right. Like Bouchard is Sam amazingly talented, you know, big high, first pick of the draft goes to these places, has these moments that are just because everyone makes mistakes. McCart gets beaten a lot defensively or he's out there a lot. You're going to get beaten. Morenski got beat last night. A couple days. It's going to happen. It's hockey.
A
It's hard.
D
Like a cornerback, you know, it's a playing defense and playing cornerback, it's impossible. I don't know how they do it. How do you possibly defend going backwards when you don't know what the other guy's going to do at a high speed. So but like Sam Darnold, you know, he just kept showing up and then eventually he finds the right coach that finds the right place and now here he's a Super bowl champion. So he's got a little Darnold in him where his mistakes, like you said, are just so theatrically bad and, and entertaining. But yeah, no, I'm going to have to again I've, I got the Norris trophy vote so I need to go in and dig deep. And after that first month which was a disaster with a big kick and a big finish and they get in and maybe even if they win the division, he's going to be, he's a big part of why and him and you know, he and McDavid. So yeah, I, I, I am going to take a look hard at Bush and just and see if he does indeed deserve a Norris a Norse first
C
place vote or I'm just happy you didn't say Sanchez.
B
Well, well, yeah. You don't want to be Mark Sanchez.
C
Right now.
B
But hey, Donald, he said it, he ended with a championship. He's got a championship. So that's this year.
E
He had to go somewhere else though, with.
D
That's true.
B
I think he went to two different
D
places or maybe, I think about four. But yeah, you're funny. You know, your boy, your boy Clement, you had on the golf thing. I, I did a saber game earlier in the year and at the, and we stay at the Marriott harbor center there, which is great. You walk to the rink and up there and then the bar's good. You know, when it gets going at night, it's pretty good scene there. Some people come over and, and he was at the game. They showed his boys just got, he's got a, you know, he's got a saber hat. Looks like he's 17 years old.
B
Oh, he was black.
D
Even though they didn't win, but it was like. And we just sit there talking. He's a Rochester, Rochester, New York kid, you know.
C
Did he drive his bus? Was it Sally? Did he name his bus Sally?
D
Yeah, Betsy? Betsy or Betsy was awesome. Yeah, he's a great kid.
C
Oh, he's awesome. He's awesome.
D
That was one. That was one of your better. That's like a top 10 all time.
C
So G's probably red in the face in the back right now. Just like ready to blow up. Asking a few college questions. I know we might have a still a few western teams to talk about, but the biggest drum he's been beaten. I think it was David Carl's comments about these neutral zone sites for college hockey. How do you feel about him? What's that?
D
Neutral zone sites? Yeah, you know, right in the middle. Yeah, no, I, I, I, I've been saying that for a long time that we should have these on campus. You need atmosphere. Atmosphere is mainly for the athletes. Athletes would rather play a road game than a 3,000 attended, you know, neutral site game in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Like, you know, they'd rather go to Fargo with, you know, 9,000 drunk North Dakota fans and they'd rather have that. That's fun, right? Because if you win, that's the best. Road silence is the best. It's great for us on television. Atmosphere is better for a television show. And in the end, life is a television show. Much less sports now, but, but sports is definitely a television show. Everything must be geared towards that. It's just no longer a pure competition back in 1890 between, you know, 10 drunk Scots got dudes up in Canada playing hockey. Right. For their life or death. It's not, it's just not anymore. It's a television show and so yes, we should play on campus sites. They do it in the first round of the College Football Playoff. How good was that? Right. And before they head to the bowls and then it becomes kind of a neutral site again. But no, I agree that and that that should happen. And David is slowly getting more power. There's a lot of coaches who agree with him but are afraid to come out and talk like he talks. I know that's frustrating for, you know, for some people, but I think we'll end up there.
C
What's. I just got. What's the reason why they're staying so persistent about the fact that there's no atmosphere? Like even in one of the games they broke a pane of glass. 25 minute delay. Penn State.
B
There isn't one.
D
It's a great question. I can't.
C
It's like I don't think just give us reasons as to why. Like, like if it's a money thing it would maybe make sense but I mean most of the revenues considering it's not even televised on any. Like is it, is it televised making so much money where the tickets like the tickets got to be worth something.
D
To answer your question, I, I don't see how these are money making ventures. You know I'm sure they did well in Loveland because there's a couple of sold out places. But yeah, no, I don't know what the reason is the NCAA and, and the coaches but, but you know, I think and ultimately they do that because they think that's the most fair way to decide a champion, you know, is a neutral site playoff game.
B
The argument would be that people say that the, the powerhouse like you know, colleges and the organizations I'll say will remain always as a host like you'll always have North Dakota, Michigan, hopefully BU like the big dogs as the one seeds hosting.
E
So it makes anymore.
D
That's not true now. Yeah, exactly.
B
But Carl did say I, I never thought of it. I thought of you know, the number one seats all hosting all four. But he was saying one through eight hosts, nine through 16 at their building. So it'd be like eight different sites now. Maybe the T. The TV aspect but that would be sick. And then you get all, you get all together right after that. But I do, I do wonder at some point if the noise gets loud enough because it seems like we've been talking about it but now I mean she's getting. He said like five coaches texted him or called him about it, it's like obviously.
D
Right, well, yeah, those guys need to do it publicly though, those coaches.
B
Yeah, you're right.
D
You know, but maybe their AD is against it and they're afraid to go against their ad. So I get it. There's some situations like that. But you know, and ultimately what they could do is in what, you know, there's been whispers of is just breaking away from the ncaa, just start your own federation.
C
You know, there's been rumblings about this like we got asked not to talk about this. Where essentially they would create like a premiere like league.
B
Yeah.
D
And, and, and hockey is the one sport probably bet. And all sports have talked about this at, at the college level. Even football has. Right. I mean they could easily do their own thing, get their own TV contract. That'd be not prom at all. But you know, there's been talk about maybe doing that with college hockey and maybe do you break it up into tiers? So like, you know, you have three divisions. I know. I mean, let's face it, these teams in Atlantic hockey are not going to ever win the national championship. Now it's fun to aspire to a D1 scholarship and play occasionally play a Boston College in North Dakota, Denver, and compete against those guys. But you know, would it be cool if they could compete for their own championship? You know, whether it's 20 teams in each, in each division or each tier. If you do it that way and get separate TV contracts and the big boys can get a TV contract and, and maybe try to grow the game that way and have more games on prime time. Get these big dogs together every week playing big games and have a Monday night hockey at 30, whatever you do. But yeah, that's probably the. Ultimately then they can do whatever they want in all kinds of situations if they break away and, and hire a commissioner and, and try to. Because it is becoming a strong league with the, with the Canadian juniors coming down. These 20 year old kids are really good players.
C
Really good.
D
They've really brought depth. Yeah, this Caswell kid in Denver who played, I think he played for Swift current for four years, was their MVP. You know, he's a 20 year old freshman. Man, that guy can play. He is really, I think that it's
C
basically become the AHL now. I think it's just as competitive as the American Hockey League with the fact that these can come over the top end junior guys after, after, you know, preparing and marinating for four years. Yeah, the perfect path of development. Now that same guy we were talking to, as you just mentioned, like you talked about the tiers. There should be a relegation system where maybe the bottom four teams. Now how big would you keep tier one? Like, are you talking 20 teams? 25, 30. Like how big would that top tier be, do you think?
D
Yeah, you could probably go 30. You could probably do two actually. You probably go two tiers and that would be like two, you know, 30. And I don't know about relegation, how that works and, and I'd have to see that working, you know. But I'm all for trying.
C
I think if you make the frozen four of maybe like the second tier, it would bump out the bottom four that finished that prior. Like, that's why I said British Premier League. Like that's such a fun system because like even all the way to the end of the year, you're, you're, you're like you have something to root for.
D
Right. And you really have to be, you do have to become a full fledged league then because you, you have to plan these schedules in advance. Right? Schools have agreements. We'll go to your place for two. We'll come to our place for two right now. But again, you could just change, do the professional model and play each team four times and, and have divisions and stuff. It wouldn't be hard to do. It just. It's so different than what college sports has always been. That's why, that's why they're afraid to do it or try or should we do this? Will we ruin it? We got a decent thing going here. It's pretty popular. We all make good money.
C
It's not like they wouldn't take you back.
D
You could always do. Yeah, but you can't. That's even the on campus thing. Just try it for two years. If it sucks, then we'll go back.
C
So that's, that's what I said about the NHL and doing it. Like, I know they're so traditional, but you're looking at baseball and probably the most traditional sport back absolutely years ago. And with the implement implementation, another big word for me, Pinkies up, boys, with the pitch clock. And then now this ABS thing. Why wouldn't you try a year of the four, a four like four year cycle of doing one through eight, doing maybe a shorter schedule in the best on best years to then provide your own. So there's a lot of. Yeah, I think the college should definitely have a look in the mirror about all that.
D
Try 116, 215, one year. Like you know that that's the dream.
B
But Ra has said that too. You can't be afraid to change, like, and baseball's kind of proved it lately. Lately. Sticking with college quickly. I want to ask you, do you think McKenna maybe goes back? Like, how do you think this ends up playing out? Unfortunately, they don't make the Frozen Four this year. They made it last year. But you think he's gone? As good as gone?
D
Yeah. Yeah, he's not going back. You know, we'll see. We'll see who drafts him, who wins the lottery. I do think he's the best player now if someone, someone could win the lottery and decide to trade the pick if they feel like they can get a haul and they don't love him for whatever reason. And they might, you know, they might have, like Chicago might say, you know what? Well, this is Bedard's team and it's Frondell's team and. But if we win the lottery at the first pick, we might, you know, trade it for stuff. Like they need to start trading for players now. Like they don't need any more prospects in Chicago, but they could maybe move down to three or four and get a Verhoff or get, or get someone else and then, and then that team might have a player that they can use right now, another top six forward or something if someone really wants those. Depends again, it just depends who wins the lottery that way. But, but yeah, I think I'd be very shocked if he'd go back again. I mean, I'd always love to see it. I want, you know, I know Jack Eichel wanted to and Macklin Celebrini wanted to, but, and, and McKenna didn't have the years that they had. You know, those were Hobie years and that's. And so McKenna was, you know, he wasn't the best player in college hockey. He wasn't this year. Just, you know, he was 18, he was young. It took him a while to get going and now. But he would, you know, and he didn't, you know, he didn't lead his team to the Frozen Four like again, Eiko went to the championship game, you know, Celebrini lost in the semifinal game, but he made the Frozen Four as a, as a, you know, as a 17 year old. He's so amazing what celebrating he did at 17 years college. But so, yeah, so I do think he'll go back. I'd love him to go back and play one more. McCarr did. That made a big difference for him that one extra year. But I think that's key for defense. But to do the one extra year Quinn Hughes did it. Kel McCarr did it. But as a forward, he'll go right in the league and be good right away. I would not be surprised if McKenna had 60 points next year. He will make. He is, he doesn't have anyone to play with at that level at Penn State.
C
I, I, if I was Vancouver, I'd be nervous. Cause you got the Rangers and Chicago in that top five right now. And, you know, you just know. I think the Rangers are going to get an absolute softball with that one.
B
You got frozen envelope theories again here.
C
I don't know, man. Schaefer goes to Islanders after they get if. After they get well, you know, I
D
hosted the draft lottery last year and what we did, we had to have like four rehearsals for it just to. Because it was a little complicated. Okay, we're gonna read these numbers. The guy's back is turned. We're saying the number out loud. These four numbers that Matt and the Bruins won the lottery. The first time we did it, the rehearsal. Then the second time we did it, the Kraken won the lottery. So it just, it was so weird that the one that we happened to do on television, the Islanders won, but it could have been any. It was so funny to see these other teams, we won the wrong one.
C
I think they were just like, hey, we're gonna tape it till we hit the Islanders. And we're gonna make up for taking away the All Star Game. Because it wasn't like the moon landing.
D
You don't believe in business.
B
Move your body over a little so they can't see Gary slipping a different envelope or a different team's name there. Okay, Just a little bit of a slide.
D
No, it's all about the balls. It's all about, it's the ping. It's all about the balls. There's no envelopes. It's all the ping pong.
C
Do you fondle them before they go in?
B
You gotta play with the balls before the lottery.
D
No one touched the balls, just the ball guy did. There's a ball.
E
Last team to trade the first overall pick.
D
Great question.
B
Has it ever happened? I don't know.
E
Cause that got my wheel spinning. Obviously, if it's Vancouver, Vancouver's taking him. But you made a great point about Chicago. Like, that's a really good point.
B
But Chicago fans would lose their minds.
C
I don't think they do that. Bedard and McKenna are, like, basically blood related. They're like, oh, yeah, cousins. So imagine you trade. Then Bernard's like, fuck, I'm leaving too. Then if if you were Chicago and you got it, if it was on the table, would you trade. Would you trade him to Vancouver for Bouilliam?
D
Oh, wow. No, no, no.
B
Or you're saying you're saying you'd get McKenna for Bouilliam. You'd get. You'd. But you'd get like their pick as well in the second overall, correct? Oh.
D
Oh, hell, I would definitely make that trade. That's an easy trade. Yeah, that's not an easy trade, but yeah, I would. I would. Yes. So you're saying, would you take Boolean in the second pick for the first
C
pick if that's the way it shook out, even if it's third.
D
But I mean, I think Chicago would. Should definitely do that.
B
This is why Biz is getting the Toronto job. He's always thinking outside the box.
E
He's doing his homework right now.
C
That's why I'm disparaging prongs. That's my. That's the guy I'm competing against.
D
But looks. Looks like they want a nerd though, right? Keith Pelly had the news conference yesterday and they're gonna, they're gonna, they're gonna hire the, they're going the nerd route.
B
Yeah. Pelly, they want the data nerd.
C
I would hire Mike Kelly as my assistant too.
D
It's funny what Keith Pelly described as the kind of GM he wants to hire is Kyle Dubas and he had him.
B
I know.
E
And Duba stock is.
C
Oh, it's through the roof. It's through the roof. It's like Ethereum.
B
Who do you like at the Frozen four? And also that kid TJ Hughes, who's lit it up this season for Michigan. He's a free agent, undrafted. There's been rumblings Edmonton maybe be in the mix there, but. But what do you think? The, the way the, the games shake out there and maybe what happens with some of the bigger free agent signings in college?
D
Yeah, I think Edmonton's in on a few people. Owen Michaels kid, remember the mop last year in the frozen four? He's like a 24 four year old, you know, older, college guy. Maybe. Maybe him there too. So, yeah, maybe Edmonton will be active. But you know, it's. I think the Denver Michigan game, that is going to be a Titanic matchup. I think the winner of that could be. Could be the winner. I know North Dakota is going to bring the people like nobody business. I love that fan base, how they travel. I can't imagine where they're going to convene in tampa. They convened 10 years ago when they won. They convened. Remember that bar outside in Tampa Bay? It used to be an outside bar. And in Tampa, right next to the arena, I think. I think they bought all that stuff and they're, you know, kind of gentrified it, but that was a cool kind of grimy outdoor bar. And they just opened. There was like 7,000 people there. It was unbelievable.
E
Sharkies. Was it called Sharkies?
D
Yes, that's exactly. Yeah. I used to get the fried grouper there. Yeah, yeah. And, and seven bud limes. Remember that?
E
Yeah, Limers.
D
I still love them. And so, yeah, so I can't wait to see where they convene. But it's. It's a great frozen four. Four great names. Good. They all travel. But I do think that Denver. I just think.
A
I don't know, man.
D
This could be. That. This could be David Carl again. This could be just, Just an absolute college, you know, dynasty, which is so hard to do year in, year out, but here they are with maybe another one. So I just think it's hard to bet against him, man. He has the, like, the Belichick formula from back in the day when he was going and how he thinks the game and understands the game. He's got a goalie again, even though he's like 5 5. But little Johnny Hicks, he's unbelievable. So, yeah, I, I, until. Until someone takes the crown, I'm leaning, I'm leaning Denver. But Michigan, this is the best team they've had in a long time. They have defense and goalie now. That was always their bugaboo. They got the best players, all those kids. You know, being in Michigan is such a great place to be with the development program right around the corner. It's just in. Obviously, Michigan's Michigan and Yost is the best. So they have goaltending now and they have defense. And so maybe that could be their, you know, formula now to break their drought since 1998, their last national championship.
B
I couldn't believe when I saw it. Been 28 years since. That's wild. But, yep, we got rollback. Last question. Use code chiclets on rollback.com c h I c L E T S on R H O b a c k.com 20% off. Polos, hoodies, joggers, everything. Check it out. Back to the West. You mentioned your, your. You'll be shocked almost if Colorado doesn't win at all. But talk about Dallas quickly because they beat him last year in game seven. The Ronton. Unreal. Legendary moment in the third period. Of game seven against his old team. Jim Nil just gets resigned. All of a sudden, tree living gets let go and Dallas is like, okay, hold on, hold on, Jim, Jim, you're not going anywhere. Are you still that confident or do you think it would be a complete coin flip if they get Dallas again second round?
D
I don't think it's a coin flip. I still think it favors Colorado. I still think they're, they're a favorite, a decent little favorite. And I think the odds are they're going to be the favorite in every series. I think they would be in that one. But yeah, I'm, I'm all on color. I'm. It's a no doubter for me. You know, it's got, it's like Chicago when Chicago was going. And I remember that's when I wrote my column a lot, espn.com and it's like, yeah, no, this team is, this is top three goals for you. Just look at the, talk about all these analytics stats. I look at the GF and the ga, you know, that that's a real good stat. They score a lot, they don't give up a lot. You know, like, that's really a good idea of how good a hockey team is in this sport because we see there it's a low scoring sport in terms of, you know, it's 5, 3, 4, 2, 3 1. It's very simple in that regard. And, and so yes, I, I have no doubt in my mind that, that Colorado is going to get this done. But you know, Dallas, I mean, man, Robertson and Johnston, man, they're good. But I do think, I think Colorado also has a cause like I think they're playing. I think actually the Olympic loss definitely fires McKinnon up and McCarr more. So it gives another thing under their ass, you know, more fire. So I think, I think it's all point in Colorado for their second cup this decade.
E
I don't know. I think, I think Dallas, with Ottinger, I think what happened to him last year, I think he's going to have, I think he's going to go into playoffs this year with some serious, you know, memories of last year and put on a clinic and be a real issue for teams this year.
D
We, we're going to see.
B
Yep, we will see.
D
And, and one more college thing. I think, you know, with all this money this year, the McKenna money, I think all the prices are coming down and we saw Mercy Hurst hockey, you know, go under. I think there's a couple other teams like, are you as well. And that, that, that's. It's unsustainable. So that was not.
B
Yeah, it's not football. It's not the money, it's not the TV contracts. Like you heard that, that McKenna pay paycheck. It's like, oh my God, like I'm hoping BU can give 20 grand to somebody or something like that, you know, it's like now maybe the biggest wallet. Yeah, well, I mean, Jesus, with all
C
those beers your dad drank at that stadium, you think you'd be able to hand over McKenna? Deal.
B
I know, I know, you're right, you're right. Well, Boochie, you're the best, buddy. We appreciate it.
C
That was awesome.
B
And do you know what? What? First round you'll be covering, like, obviously. Will you be west or east in terms of your broadcast?
D
We probably won't find out till the last night, right? Thursday I'll be in studio all last week. And so, yeah, we'll see what you know. Some matchups will be set and that will have probably crews assigned to them. And then I'm just like, who? I'll probably be amongst those last dregs that get in. Boochie, you're going to Ottawa or Winnipeg. If Winnipeg gets in, I'm in Winnipeg.
B
Okay?
D
I don't get the marquee matchups, boys.
E
You should. Boochie, you're the best.
C
Here's my prediction. There's going to be two or three games, 82 that decide playoff positioning, two of which that will decide a team going in.
D
Jets. Sharks. Last game.
B
Okay, jets.
D
That's my western play in. Watch out for that. Could be a TNT 11, 15, 6 start to you biz.
B
Okay, he'll get the goat again before the game, but Bocchie, thank you very much. We'll talk to you soon, buddy.
E
Can't wait to listen to you.
D
Thank you, boys.
B

Thank you so much to John Boucher Grass. Very talented guy, play by play in studio. A die hard hockey fan, so we appreciate him coming on. And now it's time for ra's World. Bring in the warthog. Pinkies up to the warthog. Hello
A
everybody. Welcome to Ari's World here in the Spitting Chickens podcast. Boys just got me up earlier on a Wednesday. A little early week. Nothing wrong with that. That just means the weekend starts a lot faster.
B
It's 11:45 already.
A
I thought it's still anti meridian. I mean, it's still.
C
I saw you had an early dinner last night.
A
Yeah, you know, I, I like to go to the same restaurant four or five times a week. I'm sure you can relate. Haven't had any.
C
Oh yeah, no, it was just funny right now. I tweeted it, it was like 10pm
A
Kitchen closed at the tavern at 10:30. So I, I, I.
B
You got to be in right before 10:30 and you get a nice little supper and sleep well after eating nice and early. Ra, it was great seeing you at the Bees game, buddy. You look great. I know the cane, the cane's got to be tough, but was that a leather coat? You had the hair slicked back underneath the hair. It was just, I was like, ra, looking good.
A
Thank you, buddy. I appreciate that. I know you brought up the other day, but believe it or not, you got interrupted on the Spitting Chickens podcast. He'll never be able to. We all do it after that. Yeah, exactly. Oh, absolutely. Team game here. But no.
C
Did you just say slick back?
D
Yeah, I was wondering.
B
Out of it. Listen. Out of his hair.
D
See it?
A
But no, I'm not going full scope.
B
Out of his what? Out of his hair. Boys in the back. That's gonna be part of the hat it, buddy. But okay, you're seeing the flow. That's a straight up skull at ra, but you're seeing the flow. But that flow in the back wasn't, like, dry like it is now. It was like gel in it, like,
D
slicked back
A
down the stairs. Honestly, this might be longer than my Covet scullet, like, which, obviously barber shops are closed. This was basic from being laid up. And. And I had nothing that I needed to get gussied up far enough where I had to, like, shave my head. So honestly, I've been, like, cosplaying, having hair again because, you know, I went BALD early late 20s. I had to take it down to the nub. And if I. You know, every once in a while, I'll get lazy. And then I start looking like a suburban dad in the lawnmower, you know, with the. With the. With the monk cut. But it's this long, and it's like, I look and I'm like, oh, wow. You know, like, what would I look like with hair again? Like, years ago? What?
E
It's because that Halloween costume wig that you had on, you had so many compliments about how good you look with hair.
A
Dead characters confirm or deny.
C
All right?
B
But when you meet women now with the hat on, it's like, oh, my God, what he's got up top. Look at the back.
A
I can only then take it off when I get him home.
B
You just give them the Republicans earrings with the hat on.
A
I tell him I'm Jesse Ventura when he takes his bandana.
C
A couple things already. We're not moving on yet.
A
No, no. Let's roll.
C
Would you do a Turkish hair transplant?
A
That's. That's exactly what I was. I was gonna get to biz because, like, years ago, you know, the Size Spurling era hair plugs, like, and I was just like, hey, man, your genetics out with the eye. I didn't plan on going bald. Like, you know, looking at my. My hair when I was in my late 20s was like, you know, looking through a hillbilly's teeth, you could see everything down below. Like, a lot. A lot of gaps is what I mean. And I'm like, you know what? That's my genes. Whatever. I got my grandfather's DNA. But then, since then, man, like, nobody gives A like every athlete, like, so many people just get the plugs like, and no one cares. So I'm like. But so I did. I've been considerate and Donnie don't want to ask me. And I'm like, geez, free hair 53. I mean, it'd be so obvious it's fake, but nobody gives a. I mean, plus I could like, get moose liposuction. Haven't bought a. Bought a bottle of depth in 25 years. So I don't know biz again. Like your Dayton proposed Dayton show. We will revisit a later time. Definitely a higher likelihood of me getting fake hair than going on a dating show.
C
I think that you would do bigger numbers than Drew Ski if you did a dating show. If you did an RA dating show, I think it would legit be the most viral show. And with the Bachelorette being canceled, you would take center stage or at least the last season. Last thing I'll say about the hair, if the bees, they're going to make playoffs.
A
Fucking right. We had 98.2 chance, motherfucker.
C
Let me go, baby. All right, if they went around, will you braid the skullet? Would you. Would you braid it and then put like the. The black and yellow beads at the bottom. Like kind of like one like Jamaica.
A
I got one like Michael Scott, like, when he went to Jamaica. That one fucking braid.
C
But you have to do the whole way. Oh, we lost wit. Oh, we lost both those guys.
A
Which wet on the endos Internet.
C
They just quit. I think they just quit the pod. Well, it's me and you, buddy.
A
You know what? Like, that could be a fun bet. Like, we can, you know, like make a charity thing or whatever and then, you know, then welch on it after. But no, seriously, like, yeah, Brie, that. I think that's something I could be a goofball boat. And you know, because I was like, why get a haircut now? It's just like, I'm having fun with
C
it and it's bringing the bees good luck.
A
And I never. I never had hockey here because I couldn't skate. As we said a million times on here. So, gee, what do you.
D
All right, I've agreed to go to Buffalo with Merles if it is a Boston versus Buffalo first round. Can I get your commitment to join us in Buffalo for this first round?
A
2% of our listeners will get this. How do you do to have wooden nuts? Yes. Yeah, if it's Boston Buffalo, I mean, yeah. I mean, you might have to put an extra liver in my carry on, but Last time we were in Buffalo, we did.
D
The Mohawks found you on the side
A
of the road very late.
D
We had to bring you into the hotel. It was a whole thing. So hopefully we have a bounce back. But I think, think me, you, Merle's in heat, Daddy in Buffalo. I think that would be electric.
A
Yeah. I mean, Buffalo's already an electric city. And actually I'm looking for a DM I. I got from one of the Mohawk buddies you just mentioned. And I. I can't find. They were very appreciative of the shutout. They. They can't wait for the next chick. Let's go. I says, if we have it in Boston, you guys have to be here because, you know, I coached them the second time and you know, coach me Pat Nas and you know, saying for check. But like, it was in the rain that time and. And they had a huge comeback when it was like, you know, like one of those bonding moments where it was, I wasn't a player, but I was part of something. And. And so, yeah, it was nice to hear back from that. They appreciated that. So with the other two, dump off of golf or it was.
C
No, they. Their power went out already. So like, we legit law. I think your. Your mullet.
D
Your power went out at all on the golf trip.
A
Stay. Stay hot.
C
Florida, they said the Internet isn't even popping up. Like, they can't even click on it.
D
And.
C
And we did lose both of them at the exact same time. So it makes sense. But ra, I think that you're. I think that your mullet is providing the bees with like an aura. The word aura gets thrown around a lot lately, but I believe that you're providing the team with aura.
A
I love. I love to hear that. Oh, I was gonna. You did have them at the beginning of the year.
D
I gotta give you your flowers here because you had make the playoffs. You also had Marco Sturm as your Jack Adams coach of the year.
A
So we gotta give ra's flowers. The whole world didn't have the Boston
D
Bruins in the play.
C
This is the previews RA did.
A
Yeah. Like season preview. Yeah. Probably the last blog I wrote, but Sway and pray.
C
Hey, one for one.
A
Yeah. But no, it was sincere. I mean, I know I've always called it like, I've seen it on the blog all these years, but. Yeah, I know. I thought like, they had some decent pieces there. And what it is business.
D
The.
A
The effort, the heart, the grit, the gristle. Like that. That is overcompetent. That is more than compensated for. Maybe the lack of skill that other teams may have and they play their balls off of Sturm and, and listen man, however the season ends up, this is a team I, I've been proud of all year. And this will be one of my favorite Bruins teams of all time. Just like what they do that come back the other day, Columbus. Like the way, you know, they had the pull the goalie, then they had the six on foot, the way they would chuck and sticks everything just getting in the lane, just using this that way. How many times they kept in the zone like. And you know my mom's text me during, during the game all excited and it was just a huge win. And yeah, man, I can't wait for the playoffs they went. I can't wait to see what this team does if they were one and done. I don't care, man, I love this team and I love what they've done. And actually yeah, a few of the boys actually were. Well, I missed them Friday because they went to movies. I was going to talk to Wood about that, but a couple of wild. The Felino brothers, I guess popped in down the tavern every, you know, everybody said they were great guys. No surprise. But a couple staff were getting a little flat twinkly eyes when they saw Marcus Felino come in.
D
They were so hot.
A
Yeah, he's definitely hot. And the other thing I was going to mention, a wit too. And well biz you could chime in. The, you know, Bruins had a five o' clock start time on Saturday at home, which never happens, usually one or seven. And then they had a five o' clock start in Columbus though. People were asking, I was like, you know what, I don't know if it's just like an extra cushion, a couple hours because they've condensed so much of the schedule into so little time after the Olympics and you know, it's an extra two, three hours which you know is a lot to these guys that are trying to bounce back. Have you heard anything on those. These kind of odd start times at all?
C
No, but also I think that that like fans have also complained about not staggering the starts enough that maybe that's why they felt like, like combined with that reason you just mentioned, maybe they're actually starting to listen to the, to the fan bases where they don't. Well people, especially this time of year, you're having all these wild card races where all these games matter. Why wouldn't you stagger them?
A
So yeah, that's, Yeah, I didn't think of the staggered aspect of it. Could you Know, because they usually set the times ahead. But yeah, it was just an interesting job. Well, maybe.
C
But going back to your comment, R.A. that's how I want to feel about the Toronto Maple Leafs. How you just described to have a year where expectations were. Were low or not, where they have been in the past and for your team to fight and claw for every inch. Like, if you guys end up going six, seven games in round one and losing, like, you're going to end the season being like, man, I love that team. I was proud of that team and I loved watching them.
D
I think either way biz, I think. I think Bruins fans are already at that point. I think, you know, just making the playoffs, I even, even just like having a competitive season. Bruins fans, they were plus 10,000 to win the division at the beginning of the year. Bruins fans were this playoffs, it wasn't even a thing. It was RA Was the only guy.
A
So it's like this is so successful
D
and Bruins fans are so over the moon happy already.
C
So, R.A. who's your coach of the year?
A
Oh, man, like Muse keep making a tough. I actually, I'm glad you brought that up because one of my buddies up in the press block, a German guy, Heiko, he's. He writes for the covers. All the German players. He's no Mako. We got him, boys.
D
We got him back.
A
There we go. We got him back dark boys.
B
We lost Internet there. Apologize.
A
R.A. no, no sweat. I was just saying. I was talking to my German buddy up in the press box. Heiko, he knows Mako goes way back with him. And he asked me about the Jack Adams. You know, I throw it the usual suspects. And he brought up a great point. And well, Bucci should have made the same thing without like specifically mentioning it. But. But you know, you know, he said, well, Quinville has won three cups. Ruff's been around. He's one of Jack Adams. He's like, Mako's a rookie coach. And I think sometimes we, you know, rookie players, we give a little a lot of leeway to it, but we don't really consider rookie coach. It's. They're doing the same thing for the first time. And I think that ups the difficulty factor and it gives you definitely a lot more consideration to guys who it's their first year in the league as opposed to, again, as great as the Ducks have been. But Dole's been around three cups, so you know what I mean? You get what I'm saying?
C
So him. And yes,
E
especially teams that didn't have Any expectations going into the season? Like, you know, Pittsburgh and Boston didn't have, you know, big expectations.
A
Exactly. I was mentioning I bumped into you, but I. We got to do a real quick project. Hail Mary. I saw that the other night. Well, we talked about. Dude, awesome flick. I'm glad I didn't watch the previews because, you know, I would have seen the character who comes in halfway through and you know, what a spoiled part of the movie, man. I started the imax. Awesome stuff. If you want a good feel good movie, you can take the kids. There's nothing offensive about it. Great fleck, man.
B
Was that one scene in imax. I can't imagine how good that was in.
A
Incredible. And I gotta say, I'll shout out to like, the reading imax. Like, I go to Kendall Square a lot. You know, it's like. And that's like a cinephile movie. Like, people don't say a word. They. They. They shut their phones off. But I'll say, I'll tell you, reading imax, man, for like, all those people in there and there's a lot of. In society, not a word, not a phone. It was like three for however many people. It was hundreds of people silent the whole time except for, like, laughter, man. So shout out to that. And it reminded me why it's so awesome to go to the movies, but we could go back to hockey biz. You just mentioned your Toronto Leafs. I know. Radco Gutas offered himself up. So they get their pound of flesh after in the Catholic season. Doesn't throw a punch, but I feel like that's like wood for the Leafs. That's like going to the drugstore to get rubbers after the trip was a born. You know what I mean? It's like, what does that accomplish now?
D
It.
A
It maybe puts that story to bed, but I don't know, man. It's just like, okay, you know, like,
B
well, what else were they gonna do at this point? They're joking. Franchise ra.
A
It needs done.
C
Ra. If. If Buddhist plays with. With. With one leg, like the guy from. Who's the guy? I'm thinking of.
A
Who?
C
Lieutenant Dan?
A
Yeah.
C
Oh, he actually lost both.
B
I think he had none. I don't think.
C
Yeah, yeah, yeah. He got new legs. If he's playing there and they don't do anything like, you're an even bigger laughing star.
A
They needed to do it, but it just felt like, okay, whatever. But I. Yandel, when you said that would look like a gang initiation. I'm muted on here. We're listening to you guys, that might be the funniest fucking thing you've ever said in the history of the show. That was absolutely hilarious. But speaking of fights, this is the year of the goalie fight. You, Sturkin, Markstrom, two guys who, like, these fucking idiots couldn't get us in the playoffs. Let's just punch the fuck out of each other for the next few minutes. Great fight. I mean, that's what, like three or four in the league this year, plus the ahl. Do you think what's the cause of it? Like, just, like, frustration. Like, guys just.
C
I think fighting's on the rise. I think it was Chicago had a fighting instructor come in.
B
Okay.
C
It's just on the rise and probably some frustration from both those goalies. I was just shocked that, like, Markstrom got beat, like, and he didn't even.
B
He wasn't, like, letting him. Like, I think it was just turn was trying to get the blocker off or the glove, whatever, and like, it was almost like Marky was rushing in. And then Shusterkin. Yeah, he handled himself while he was laughing after. I was like, yeah, this is probably the top moment for both of those teams this year. That's how pathetic they've been. Maybe Markstrom was like, I'm so sick of Pasha rooting for this team. I have to fight someone.
C
He would have actually landed some punch if he pictured Pasha's head on Igor's body. And also then Igor, after the game, said, I wanted it to be Sorok and my first dancing partner. So maybe we'll see that coming soon. He was joking, obviously, but KGB on KGB crime.
A
I think maybe. Maybe the toughest thing we've seen from a guy on a devil's bench here. My buddy Frosty, he caught one right off the fucking. Right above the eyebrows. He got Harry Potter from a Frosty.
B
Still looks like he's 28 years old.
A
He's got. Does he? But dude, 18, right. Right above there. Look at he looks. I told him he looks like Harry Potter. That's Jack having a laugh with him. It was.
B
Oh, that's Jack.
A
Yeah. It was a shot from Dougie Hamilton. So for once we could say not all right, Hamilton. That's right, Dad.
C
I love that because you loved it.
A
Had had to go there. But no. I shout out to Frosty, man. He's my. My buddy. We talk about all the time. He's feeling fine, hasn't missed a beat. But I want to give him a shot. I always give those guys, and that's one of the dangers of the job. Man, like, you know, it's. I know. And when you're between the benches, that's there too, but. But you're in more of a box there. But you're on the benchmade. You got to stay heads up. But I think he's been dyked a few times, so. Shout out.
C
Was it you who mentioned it about Frosty? Like, how the. The. When they won that gold medal, how like there was a. There was one player in particular, but like the players were so grateful and thankful towards him because he bridged the gap to the old American guys who had won the World cup to this new generation. And they were doing these FaceTime calls, and Frosty was a big reason behind it. So. So the legend grows like, of Frosty, the probably the most famous hockey trainer to ever exist at this point now.
E
Yeah. Cause I think he had Keith Kachuk in Phoenix and obviously has known Matthew and Brady, and that kind of probably bridges the gap a little bit. But.
D
Yeah.
E
Weren't they saying they were FaceTiming Shelley before? I know they made shirts that say WWCD. What would Shelley do?
C
So, oh, I stole that.
A
Then get drunk and see Pearl Gym.
C
Yeah, actually, so I stole the what would Wendell do off of those guys
B
and paid five GS for the metals jersey. But still, Fizz.
C
I think I'm out of the running for the GM job now.
A
No, that's actually Yens. His first. His first gig, I believe, was IHL Phoenix Roadrunners with Big Jim Veezy, where he got his first gig. So he went from Big Jim to Big Walt, and then he was in Nashville with Tommy Fitz. So he's got the. The whole Charlestown tree.
C
What kind of a player was Big Jimmy Vesey?
A
Oh, my God. Hands like silk. Tough as nails. A different. Maybe a different generation. When Americans weren't looked down on as much, he might have got an actual chance. St. Louis called him up a bunch of times. Never got a proper cup of coffee. You know, it was like mostly injury calls up. And then he signed with Boston. There's a free agent, and I believe it was the second game. A buddy pass fucking wrecked his shoulder and, you know, back to AHL and. But yes, I don't know that St. Louis ever gave him a proper chance because, man, look at the stats. I mean, just call his ass hockey DB page. Like, goal. He could score goals, set everybody up and punch your face into. So. Jimmy, Big Jim was awesome. He put Columbus on the map. Merrimack was unknown until he went there, so. Nice. Thanks for asking. Shout Out, Tim. And while we're on it, I got to give a congrats to Lily Myers. Eyes. The daughter of my. One of my oldest buddies, Paulie Myers. The Boston Junior Eagles, they were just out in Buffalo. They won the 14 and under tier one national championship. So shout out to the Boston Junior Eagles. Great bunch of gals. A little picture right there to throw the gals off. Just want to just. Yeah. Give a little love. And, yeah, my buddies. I thought she was a freshman at MC this year. Made varsity. So. Keep it going, though. The whole town's rooting for you, so I'd like to get.
C
Wow.
A
Yeah.
C
Jimmy Vesey, he had 40 goals in his last or in 40 games in his last year at Merrimack. Won a IHL championship. And luckily, though, with the Blues, even though he only played 15 career NHL games, 11 of. With which. With the Blues, he did get an NHL goal. So that's. That's huge. That's huge. And cool that he got to play in his home or. Or basically his hometown of Boston. So checked a few big things off
A
the list, and yeah, he's been out St. Louis a lot recently because, you know, Kelly Chase, they've been having a lot of things for him. And, you know, he's an alumni, so he's been out there. And him and Chase will go way back.
B
Jason, do you know who he works for now?
C
I think he's a scout now, isn't he?
B
Yeah. Do you know for which team?
A
Yeah, I wonder where. I wonder.
C
I think big. You mentioned Montreal.
B
That team doesn't exist. If you told you they don't have a team. It's your Toronto Maple Leafs biz. So maybe give Big Jim the look. Up top.
A
I know biz. Eight, 80 to one. Biz you are. Huh?
C
I think it's 800 to one.
B
I went to see that.
A
Plus 8,000 is 80 to one.
C
Oh, okay. Well, then I'm an idiot and I probably shouldn't be gm, but still, maybe.
B
No, people sent us screenshots of them putting 50 bucks on you to win. Like, I don't know, like. Like, yeah, four. $4 million. And I'm like, that's a nice. Hey, it's a long shot. Already loves the long shot.
A
Let's go on. Yeah, let's go on calcium. We'll do a little insider trade and pocket some dough there. A little scam on us. My boy Macklin, we got to give him a shout out. Hits, 100 points, 19 years old, 38 goals, 63 assists, 101 points in just missed 72 games at 19 years old. And by the way, the Sharks are not dead yet. Look like they were. They look like Bruce at the end of Jaws and a million pieces.
B
No, they had that. They were up against the Blues. 4, 2. They Blues come back and tie it. And they give. They scored with. I think Gaudette scored with 20 seconds left. A huge, like, regulation win and celebrating his sixth teenager to hit 100 points in the NHL in a season. It's crazy.
A
It's. It's awesome. And like, yeah, the two points back of the second wild card, Nashville with two games in hand. So they, they sort of control their own destiny here. And on the same thing with the west, we got to talk about the Jets. Another team. They're like a jet that was crashing a month ago. Hollaback. What are you doing now? Nine, four and three in March. They're only a point back in Nashville right now. I like, I don't know. They haven't been kicking ass because hella Buck's numbers on the month, 269 to 897 state percentage, like, those aren't numbers you equate with a winning like, like streak that's going to get you back in the playoffs. But they're back from the dead too. The east, the West. These games are all playoff games right now. Like you said before, every game is bigger than the last. So great stuff. What? We're going through a little hockey history today.
C
Pretty remarkable for the Jets. Like, Cole Perfetti has had a difficult year, I think we can all agree. I think he scored his like 12th goal the other night. They lose ers in the off season, Stanley and, and, and I know they're dep d and Shen get moved, but like, fuck, man. Like kind of out of nowhere, man. Like, who? Who? And also, how many games did Morrissey miss after Olympic break?
B
I don't know. How many.
A
Not true. Off the topic, like, they've.
C
They've dealt with their fair share of adversity, but my God, the fact that they're still in the mix is crazy. We never talk about them.
A
Yeah, well, we just did. So Today, hockey history, 46 years ago today, the flower, the original flower, Gila Flora got a pair of goals in the Habs 72 win over Detroit to become the first NHL player to score 50 goals in six straight seasons, breaking Phyllis Besito's record. And of course today in hockey history, we got a mention every week on the very same day, Wayne Gretzky, Wayne o. Became the first NHL teenager to score 50 goals in a season. Talking about teenagers setting records. His first of nine seasons with 50 plus goals. I like these little history things.
C
I think we might be on pace for our best ever ra's World right now.
B
This is ra's buzzing. And yeah, I, I go, yeah, it's the Skullet. I go back to when Gretzky scored and it's, it's, this is above and beyond. I've talked about the Wayne Gretzky, my favorite movie. Above and Beyond. Incredible. The 50 goals in 39 games is the all time like that. Watching the clips of that game and like realizing that that will never be sniffed. 50 goals in 39 games. Like just think about that. And I guess he had. So What'd you say? Nine of, of seasons of 50 or more?
A
Yeah, nine seasons at 50 plus. Well, the great one, I, I feel like you set me up to say this that way because, you know, can't hear Gretzky 50 and 39 without bringing up Cam nearly 50 and 44 on one leg. That, that, that's.
B
Or Adam Oates being the best passer ever.
A
I mean some folks say that and I'm, that's not a hill I'm going to get killed on because, you know, actually I might, I might die on that hill. But again, I'll, I'll die. I died on the inside the last time. Now I'll die on the outside. All right, like Twitter, social media. We know how much of a cesspool the Internet's been lately, but every once in a while something nice comes up. And I did want to share this. There was a viral tweet from an autistic boy's mom. She put out, my son is autistic and he's obsessed with hockey arenas. Not hockey, not hockey, hockey arenas. He wants to visit one every weekend, then comes and draws them for hours. If anyone has any hockey picks, rink picks, please share supply the name. It would make my 5 year old so happy. She got thousands of replies from fans, media, NHL teams, people all around the globe sending stuff in. I sent a pic I had taken and you know, Paul like told him, we told him where it was from and all that, had some details and it's just like it was just a nice thing and we don't get enough of that sometimes on social media. It's so toxic these days. But it was just Chiclets.
B
You right, because he could go on and maybe see the videos of all the different college arenas.
C
G's Done Maine would stand out. You know, the, the Rink. That would be cool. The one that did the Spangler cup in.
E
Yeah.
B
Yeah. Davos. That's a sick spot.
A
Is that Davos? Yeah. I wasn't sure.
C
It's a cathedral and.
A
Oh yeah. Actually I'll. I'll share her if you want. Anyone listening, it's at. KitKat. Underscore 12:16.
B
Speaking of KitKat, did you see KitKat? What the hell? They had 12. What was it? All right, do you have the number?
A
I. I want to say 12 tons. I saw Nate.
C
His buddies did it it.
A
Well, 12 tons. 24000 pounds. Which in the grand scheme it's probably not as much as it sounds like because they're all in boxes and packaging and stuff. You know, it's Kit Kat. They'll. They get along.
B
But what are you gonna do with it that it's a robbery. That's confusing.
A
Break game. Oh, that's what fences are for, man.
B
Well, you won't have to go to dinner at 10pm you can open a KitKat whenever you want.
A
No, I mean you. I mean. I mean it's battle. Especially back in the day everyone had a fence. You have. You know, hot stuff used to always be. Be flying around. Remember like in Goodfellas when they. All the yellow sweaters on.
C
Yeah.
D
Fell off a truck.
A
Well, exactly. But so back in the day. Well, the trailers aren't around here anymore. There was in trains that would go to Somerville and dudes would go. They'd get. You know, bring bolt cutters, pop the lock and you didn't know if you were gonna get like, you know, like. Like Teemu socks or like one night we. Like what we. I mean they got 100 cases of mill. Remember the old Bob bottles? Like the ones that actually a good glass with the round top. Like 100 of them. And they. And fortunately Leo was I think in Vegas that week. So we had a nice little stash house till we got rid of them. And this is like old school Charleston. So there was a local men's club. Actually it's not even around anymore, but it's not going to say the name. And I had. I remember I had my. My mom's old Subaru hatchback. It was like you know, my beat up when I was like 19 and we were loading them out of my. Out of the hatchback into like this club and the old. And one of the cop. Cop pulls up, it's like, yeah, give me two Luckies. Like a good fellas with not pants and. But it was a local club. He's like, hey, I don't give a fuck where he's got it from, but get the out of here when you're done. Like, you know, he knew exactly, you know, they were stolen, whatever. So. Yeah, I mean, whatever, I guess when you grow up in these environments.
B
Is there a statue of limitations on robbery of.
C
Yeah, I was gonna say there's gonna be a fucking.
B
It's busted for this. I mean, your mug shot would look great with the skullet, though.
C
Oh, yeah.
A
Yeah.
C
Charlestown's gonna have vending machines with only Kit Kat bars.
A
Sir, is it okay if I keep my hat on before I turn to the left?
B
Left.
C
Like, there's no chips, no nothing. Just Kit Kat bars.
A
Yeah, one night too, actually, because it was, like, October, and me and my buddy, like, security guy came. We got chased, and the only way to go was in the drink. We went to the mystic river, like, early fall with, like, full. Full dress, it was. And then we went the Donnie wants undone hippo mode. And he didn't find us, and we had to, like, walk home and shivering and. We didn't get pinched, though. But literally, yeah, we had to go in the mystical. Otherwise we would get rounded up up. So, again, this. I was a teenager.
B
That's the desperation Omar needs right now. For the senators.
A
I'll suit up.
C
Or a Kit Kat bar. Ra Created the ending to Shawshank Redemption.
A
Hey, that's a happy ending. I. We gotta. How long we going? This.
C
Oh, you're good, buddy.
A
You're buzzing.
C
People love this. If it's high octane, it's high octane.
A
Love it. My. My pick of the week. I don't know. Actually, you know what? I got a lot of feedback on Master in Command. That was one movie that I gave out. I know you. None of you guys have watched it. I had said.
B
I. I. All right. I have a. I have a little movie watch list on my phone. I added it. I added it.
D
Good.
A
Good to hear.
B
No, I trust your TV and movie explicitly.
A
Thank you, man. Appreciate it.
D
Thank.
B
He's up for that word.
A
Thank you. Thank you. But, yeah, this one, it's. I'm a big fan of, like, British gangsta flicks, and this is probably maybe the best ever. It's called the Long Good Friday. Came out in 1980. Stars Bob Hoskins, who. He won, unfortunately passed, but he was the guy who framed Roger Rabbit. You know, the. The live. The live action guy. And also, if they ever made a. A Barry Trots movie and he was still around, he definitely would have played Barry Trots if you're trying to visualize. But it's a. Yeah. British gangster flick. He basically, he's, you know, he's a mob guy. He's got all these businesses and all of a sudden his business is getting with and he's trying to figure out who does it. And I'll leave it at that. That it's. Yeah. You know, exactly. I want people to be surprised. I want them, the movie to come to them. But one of the all time best endings. Like, like I love non verbal acting. Like yeah. Al Pacino and Godfather too. Like you know when he hears Fredo talking about being down there with Johnny or and like you just. Pacino just does this thing with his face and his eyes were like. He's conveying this thing without saying it. Well, Bob Hoskins at the end of this movie is Pacino like so long. Good Friday. Awesome stuff, Good stuff there. I. I'm contemplating. This is hilarious. I'm contemplating maybe a new segment biz. I know you have this up your alley. Ari's Divorce Chronicles, like just like, like,
B
like this is business wet dream come
A
true and it's not related. This ain't like
C
going.
A
You know, it's like I said, it's been three like full months since all the league lease was done on the. And the coils have been dried. And you know, it just your eyes get open to certain things because you know you're in certain states with certain laws with things have to be abided by. So. Yeah, we've been going long enough and I'm not prepped for this but I, I'm contemplating talking about some of the experiences I've had since my. My divorce been dry. We could have some laughs with it. But yeah, it's a little head shaking. So. I don't know, a little bit of addicties.
C
As in like, as in like things that are absolute about the law and how ridiculous it is.
A
Oakley Doakley.
B
Well, you've told me a couple things that.
A
Yeah.
B
And we're gonna save it for your segment next week that are absolutely insane to me.
A
Yeah.
B
Like the court and people are. You're just like. When you're telling me, I don't even believe you. So the fact that some of this stuff actually goes down is crazy.
C
I think I get it. Like, oh, why you laugh, buddy?
B
Yeah. It said at least you got your test luck from his hack job on Twitter.
A
Dude.
C
Yeah. Yan's is in Wit's room right now and doesn't have a mic because of the Internet situation. That's why we didn't pick it up. But that's. That's pop titty.
A
That. That, that. That was a perfect example. Like, they. I can't believe a lawyer, a downtown Boston lawyer saw that pin tweet and a two people thought it. It was real, especially her. Like, who. Like, he can't stand fucking the dude. And like that I would post crypto money. Like, I just couldn't believe that one of them said, you know what? You know, it could be a hack here.
C
But that's what's even crazier is that that cost you another 300 bucks for him to that up.
B
That's.
C
No.
B
To get his Twitter account back.
C
What's that?
B
To get his Twitter account back, he might have had to pay money. So it was just a. It was a fumble always.
A
No, no. Fortunately, I. I didn't have to Gazan. Well, Katie hooked me up at the Stool. But yeah, no, that would. That was funny. I mean, we could laugh at that stuff. I would.
C
If I think if I ever did get married, I would. I would like establish residency in Texas in order to do it. I believe that Texas is like, the best state that like, basically, like, you get capped at a certain number. Like, some of the, like the, some of the rules with getting divorced is just an absolute sideshow.
A
I think Texas is, like, why they
E
say it's cheaper to keep her.
A
Well, yeah. And well, if in certain situations it works. But not everyone. I think a Texas business, you get to keep seven houses, but you lose four dogs. I think that's the lot.
C
Oh, all right. Well, I guess I got to rethink that one or start dating girls who got cats.
A
Meow.
C
What'd you say?
A
Just don't bring them on.
E
Losing the dogs.
C
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. I might join you in the. In the breakup chronicles. Not the divorce.
A
I, I. My pick this week. I. Oh, awful Last week. Hopefully none of you follow me. Oh, for three. But I like the aisles. Friday night playing Philly. I mean, should be a good matchup, but iOS think they got the edge and goaltending. Take them on regulation only cheaper vig there. So that's the pick for the week there. And last. Last one. I know we're going live. Frankie Borelli. Got to give him a shout out for stuffing Riggs in a locker. I don't the video broke since then. I love it. They went to him and you could just see the disdain on his face when Riggs was, like, spinning himself into another hole, blowing Tiger. And Frankie said, I personally Thought it sucked. I hated the video out of you, and I hate the video out of Dan Rapaport. And his best line was, I'm not on that wall. I was like, oh, fucking, you're a flank. Oh, cringe.
B
That was video. And that's a, That's a play on. What's the movie? Ra.
A
Oh, A Few Good Men.
B
Jack Nicholson, he puts himself basically in. In prison by admitting to ordering a code red where a Marine was killed. And in that speech where he's flipping out, admitting to it, he's like, I'm the guy you want on that wall. You need on that wall in terms of like, protecting the United States and sending men to battle who are ready to be Marines in his mind. And Riggs did a play on that, defending a guy who has 16 DUIs and has flipped his car.
A
Guy who almost killed the Marine. Fucking driving, fucking messed up. Like, he was, you know, like. Yeah, just. Yeah, Frankie was.
B
That was funny. I. I did watch the, the clip that came out of. Of Kisner at the beginnings. Like, Yeah, I could tell there was some awkwardness between you guys because, like, nobody was texting in the group and Briggs dropped the video and I think Trent and Frankie were like, what the fuck is that? But, you know, they're Tiger stands already, these guys.
A
Oh, yeah. Well, Frankie, you know, at least had a line to draw. And kudos also, you know, Dan Rapaport used to work at Barstool, and he had a equally cringe. Cringe worthy video, you might say. But he showed up on Bostil, you know, wake up, Bostil, you know, took the.
B
I saw that.
A
Yeah, I'm sorry. I saw the clip.
D
I.
A
Okay. But either way, you know, what was his stand?
B
He ate. He ate. He ate some. He actually. His stand was that he was just crying.
A
Yeah.
B
And like, and like, I can't believe this is happening. But then on. On the Yak, he was like, yeah, I dropped the video. And. And then I started reading the comments and I was like, oh, this is not going. Like, I thought it was going to be going.
A
He wasn't doing tricks on it. Like, like, like Riggs was. But it was still kind of like, tight with Tiger.
B
Like, are they, like.
E
Doesn't even have his phone number?
B
What?
E
There's no way he even has his phone number.
B
Like. Yeah, maybe they're like, maybe they've become friends or something. I don't know.
C
It's hard. It's hard though, when, like, I, like, I obviously, I don't agree with what he did and Like, I wouldn't have. Wouldn't have done that. But, like, you're like, you got a goat who's. Who's, like, willing to do content with you. You're probably trying to stay on his good side. And, like, doesn't have many friends really, at all, clearly, but, like, not many guys in his corner. So you're thinking, hey, maybe I can get a long driving video out of this one.
A
And, you know, slow. You know, as far as, like, a long time. No,
B
hinge your wrist a little bit more.
A
You know, a long time blogger. Boston. He said, TMZ New York poster. We need to be part of that ecosystem. It's like, bro, we're bostil. We're in that ecosystem. Like, let's sit this one out. I don't. I. I didn't think it would cross anyone's radar, but, like, what. Like, I don't. I don't know who he texted the one Dave showed. But, like, trying to censor, like, a story for. And I don't know if it was to the whole company, but okay, if you want to tell y' all guys, don't post. But, like, like, it's a huge story. It's, you know, Tiger woods crash it. Like, I don't know if he thought, like, Nate wasn't gonna post or whatever. So I don't know. I just was like, I think if you flipped your.
B
Like, he's defending Tiger. If you flipped a car, like, for the 15th time, like, I'd be on here. Like, you're the biggest I've ever met, like, let alone, like, some guy he barely knows.
C
Yeah.
B
And.
C
And it's like, I could understand if maybe it was the first incident where it's like, hey, let's let the. The facts play out here. But it's kind of like, hey, man, 20 miles per hour. His range overs ass over tea kettle, and he's got perkies in his pocket. I think we know what happened again.
B
Yeah.
A
It's like, don't give me the baby in the woods routine. Rigs. I listen to those wire taps, you know? Like, y. Come on. Move it along.
C
I wonder if he'll be at Internet invitational.
B
Tiger. Who?
A
Tiger.
B
I mean, that'd be electric. He just comes bombing in on a cart, flips it.
A
Tiger. I'll take care of the cart here this time.
B
Time.
C
All right. For our last competition, it's three on three, but you have to crush six perkies before the round starts.
B
And if you lose, you have to be in the passenger seat with Tiger driving.
C
Okay. Ra's World. Hey, this, this might, I might have put a bow on the best like Aries.
B
Yeah, we gotta run. We gotta run.
A
I know, boys. No, thanks for, thanks for letting me go long.
C
Reviews are the reviews, buddy. You're Ra's World's ahead.
A
So thank you. Yeah, yeah, I've been having fun with it. It's giving me a little, A little like new creative venture and yeah, people seem, seem to enjoy it and I'm having fun. Just keep you guys a little energetic till the end. But go enjoy your golf, enjoy your weekend and love you boys.
C
Can we just ask you what's. What's the plan the next couple days, boys? Like what should we expect next, Paul, when we record?
B
So we have, we have a tournament, a little bit of a tournament. So 16 guys. There's seven guys who went to Trinity now Keith is on that team because they didn't. They needed an eight and then there's eight guys who didn't go to Trinidad.
A
Called me if you know, it's.
B
It's eight on eight. We play today around, we play two rounds tomorrow and then we play around Friday morning. So four rounds.
C
You got tiger plan?
B
Yeah, no, he's driving, he's auto driver. So we're very excited. We'll be able to kind of talk about this place. I'm sure we'll have a couple funny stories and I can't wait. I can't wait. I love everyone listening. Thank you so much, Ra. Great job. Biz. Keep crushing it. Me and Yance, we will see you guys Tuesday morning.
D
Right.
B
We'll be recording Monday day after Easter and next week we're dropping on Friday after the Frozen force. It'll be Tuesday, Friday, Friday afternoon. Friday afternoon. Friday afternoon instead of Friday morning?
C
Yes, Monday morning. And I'm sure I'll have them pop on. After we're done recording. I'm going to Havasu Falls where myself and shout out to wanton Don. We're going to be doing season two of peak and we did the pilot, we did season one in bc. We're going to be doing Havasu Falls in Arizona. It's about a four to four and a half hour drive from Scottsdale and Wonton was lucky enough to draw a couple of the. The permits where you have to like get lucky and get these permits. So we're going to be doing an overnighter. Hopefully I don't get bit by a rattlesnake.
B
If so I don't want to put that out to the ethos here.
C
Well, I don't want Khan could suck it out of me. Pardon. But yeah, it'll be, it'll be a great week next week sandwiched with a season of peaking. So looking forward to it and looking forward to dialing out. But we got a playoff push here, boys.
B
Yeah, there we go.
C
Hey, we got a couple big games on TNT as well too. We got, I think LA is playing St. Louis. St. Louis is done if they lose that one and then, and then who we got, we got Anaheim trying to keep a two a four point hold on the top spot. The Pacific over another team that's in a must win mode is San Jose Shark. So looking forward to that and looking forward to seeing you Monday hearing about this golf round.
B
All right. Love you all.
C
Ra's world, baby. Love you ra.
D
It won't happen, won't happen won't happen again A bad habit worth breaking but it's taking time I don't know but don't let it it's gonna happen it's gonna happen again.

Ryan Whitney (re Toronto):
“The noise of Tree’s firing – after the Anaheim game that they ended up winning, MLSE president and CEO Keith Pelley did a press conference... I would say it didn’t go over great. I think the fans were a little disgusted at the end of it…” (17:31)
Biz, On Linus Ullmark Sitting Out:
“8. 8. That's what 8.5 gets it. Give me a fucking break.” (33:52)
John Buccigross, Cut-to-the-core take:
“I'm all on Colorado. It’s a no-doubter for me. It's like Chicago when Chicago was going...I look at GF and GA – that's a real good stat. They score a lot, they don't give up a lot.” (95:20)
RA, On Bruins’ Surprising Year:
“This will be one of my favorite Bruins teams of all time...The effort, the heart, the grit, the gristle. Like, that is more than compensated for maybe the lack of skill.” (107:33)
Biz, On Playoff Format Debates:
“I like the 18 [1-8 seed] better...easier to figure out, but some things I just choose not to have an opinion on.” (70:40)
