Ryan Whitney
Me and Ryan have been officially welcomed to the jungle that is barstool sports.
Biz Nasty
I brought it towards the coyotes and I asked him if it was okay if I joined the Spit Chicklets podcast full time.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
Ryan Whitney's got a pink Whitney out there now.
Biz Nasty
Sandbagger. Get that on camera.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
Keith Yandel, the Sonk Man. Kate is a full time member. Marley just got an assist from Chris Bates.
Keith Yandle
Whoa. We're buzzing right now. Spun.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
No song needed because we are buzzing right now. Like Yan's just said at the end of that intro, Pinkies up, episode 652 of the Spitting Chicklets podcast. What the hell did we just watch?
Keith Yandle
Cardiac Canes.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
I'm telling you, the comeback canes. The domination from Vegas. But first off, I gotta mention Pink Whitney. I know it's quick. Pinkies up. I'm sorry, guys. I know the two games, they're unbelievable. Piggies up. I got one picture of one Cania crushing. It was a quick video actually. Just crushing a pink Whitney nip right before he walked into the arena. So shout out that guy. Shout out anyone out there having some pink Whitney and truly shout out anyone who's on with us live right now. We decided, hey, we're dropping Thursday. We're usually at 11am we gotta wait till after this game. We gotta talk. No brainer, no brainer, no brainer. And holy shit, do we have a lot to talk about now. I'll tell you this. Let me just rant for a quick second. I hated the entire world towards the end of the second period. All I wanted was a good Cup Final. Like I don't like Vegas, I don't want Vegas to win. I respect the hell out of Vegas. I, I, I can admit the team is absolutely incredible, but they were ruining the cup final. They were. They were making the Carolina Hurricanes at times look like the way the Hurricanes made the Canadians look. And we're going into game two, they're up two nothing. How are they going to blow a two nothing lead? You can't even get a fucking shot on goal. And now it's tied up. But we could be heading towards a masterpiece of a final business now. Also quickly, sorry, I put out on Twitter, I said, did we just witness the greatest games 1 and 2 of a Stanley cup final? And I got to admit, a little embarrassed. Last year, if you remember last year, Edmonton's down three one, Game one, they end up winning and Marshawn scores after Perry ties it up. So we had a little recency bias, but, but either way, the last two years games One and two. Hawk is on a heater biz. Go ahead. Sorry.
Biz Nasty
Oh, don't be sorry at all, buddy. I mean, like, look at, look at the viewership. I mean, it's the fact that it's doing this again. And like we talk about Carolina maybe sometimes being a low scoring team will all of a sudden they got eight goals through the first two games. So it's high flying offense. We got the flip plays on both sides of the ice going down. Carolina's power play, the dog power play finally came alive. And like you said, Whit, I'm just happy that we're watching amazing hockey right now. There was a little bit of, there was a little bit of nonsense online like, oh, who's going to be watching this final? Carolina versus Vegas. Who cares? Who cares? You got some of the best storylines in the NHL going right now. You got Mitch Marner going for a Con Smythe and a Stanley cup his first year removed from being a Toronto Maple Leaf. And we got Ansi's itchy for Mitchie. You know who's not itchy right now? Who's got the Benadryl in the system? Bloody is Blunt, who's now went dead silent on the group chat.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
Him going silent is so bush league. Like own it, but bloody. Just come out and say we're on to game three. But you can't go silent. And I know he's watching. I'm looking at you, you redheaded blood man. I love you to, but you need to say something.
Biz Nasty
Wow. I mean, speak.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
Well, he speaks all the time when my team loses.
Biz Nasty
I know, but to his defense. So there was two days in a row where there was no hockey talk on Wake Up Barstool.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
Is that really true?
Biz Nasty
That's. That's true. And Bloody went off on it and now Bloody is going to be on it tomorrow morning. And I'm actually waking up at 5am here to go on tomorrow. But let's get talking about game two before we go back to game one. Obviously a few pivotal moments in this game that ended up getting Carolina back in it. McNabb taking a puck to the face. Boys, that is a significant, significant loss for the Vegas Gold Knights. Well, not only did last game did he have three apples. This is one of the NHL's premier shot blockers. This is an original misfit. This is a guy who does not allow you to get to the house area in front of his own goalie where maybe Stank Hoven coming on that wraparound. I don't know if he gets to where he got to, if he's the net front guy there. So he helps out their Penley kill drastically in which he wasn't around for. Where finally the Levy broke for Vegas where they allowed two power play goals, one in the third and one in overtime. So that is a significant, significant loss. So all of a sudden they weren't playing. How do I pronounce his last name? Coughlin. Coughlin. Excuse me. He wasn't playing a lot when, when McNabb went down. So basically you're down to 4D and then Yan's, you kind of mentioned it looked like Hanifin was fighting it a little bit. Maybe he's battling injury as well. If that's the case, all of a sudden, a little bit of depletion on this unbelievable Vegas back end which as we, I said before, the Levy broke a little bit. Like they were able to come back in this game, I believe because of those reasons and the fact that they were a little limited on the back end.
Keith Yandle
Yeah, especially the way that Carolina plays. Like to have 4D, you can't survive it. Like, never mind going into an overtime game. When I think, I think Noah, it was. Noah was playing, getting double shifted. He was out there for like two minutes before they scored and then he's right back out there. So there's no time to rest for these guys. It's tough. Tough break for McNabb. You hate seeing that. Especially with that dentist in Carolina that told me that I was gonna have to go behind the shed when I lost all my teeth. But yeah, honestly, miss a game though? No, no, I ended up coming back.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
I actually, I, I'll be shocked if that guy's not in game three.
Keith Yandle
Oh, he's playing. That guy seems like the biggest warrior ever.
Biz Nasty
Full cage.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
Let's not forget. I mean, the fact he stood up and you know, you see a guy that tough, he skates right to the door in the corner. I'm like, oh, no. And then Emily Kaplan said he wasn't even in the building anymore. I don't think so. That's the only worry. If the jaw's completely fractured, maybe you can't, but if anyone can, it's that animal. And just the fact that he was able to get up from that, I was shocked. But right away, right away I said, this is going to change things way more than people think. I think. No offense to the, to the, to the layman hockey fan or. But it's like, oh, you know, a big shot bucket defensive. But you watch Vegas enough. This guy just Eats minutes. And I was the one who texted biz lausanne. I think maybe, you know, McNabb's bigger. He might get over there a little bit quicker on the stank first one. Now who knows if. If he's out there and I know it's kind of I'm armchair quarterback and
Biz Nasty
whatever the body they. You could tell something there. There was a glitch in the force as that game went on and they were basically playing 4D, like even 5D against that Carolina team. You're having to switch pairings all the time.
Keith Yandle
Yan's like, you're not used to the guy. Yeah, no, you're not used to the tendencies, the. Where the guy's going to be when you know he's going to move. If you're playing with a different guy, especially every other shift, it's brutal. And on that, like the way Carter Hart was kicking, you knew it was going to have to be something fluky that went in. Like the Stankhoven goal looked like it banked off someone, then hit his knob and went in. And then. You know how it is as a goal scorer. You see one go in, then your whole team gets going, then the crowd's into it and you knew something was going to happen. And man, that last 10 minutes of hockey was legitimately crack hockey, as you say, Woody.
Biz Nasty
So let. You want to rewind it and talk about Howden before we get to the Barbershev play, or should we go right to the Barbershev goalie? Interference/messier1 to kill Dave Jackson on live television.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
And Mess. Also Mess was. I don't even know if Mess knew what planet he was on. He's like, no, what are you talking about?
Biz Nasty
And he's like.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
And oh, let's go. Let's go chronologically, though, and start at the beginning. When we get there, we could discuss that because to not shout out Brad Howden and I after the second one, I said, I think he just won. The Con Smythe Ra tweeted out. I'm sure is RA coming on later? You're gonna have a little bit. And this is Ra's time, by the way. This is when Ra usually wakes up from a nap. Like, no, he'll wake up right before the game. So this is peak hours output.
Keith Yandle
He had to have an early dinner.
Biz Nasty
He's not the only thing, though. You might get a grumpy RA because this is his prime movie time consumption.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
This is where The Godfather Part 2 lined up for the 4,000th time, usually at midnight. But he actually said On. On Tuesday's show. On Monday show. Excuse me. Mixing a Howden Con Smythe bet. He was 100 to 1. I think he said. He said after the second goal he was 2 to 1. He goes. I think his tweets have never seen odds changed like that. He was 100 to 1 and it was 2 to 1 after making.
Guest Analyst
Yeah, he's 2 to 1 right now.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
2 to 1. So he said if he scores four or five goals in the finals, like, and. And R.A. showed a couple clicks. Show him, boys.
Biz Nasty
He set the record for Vegas Gold Knights away goals in a playoff run. He's got 10 on the road right now.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
Yeah.
Guest Analyst
He's also the seventh player in NHL history to surpass his regular season goal total in the ensuing postseason. Scored more goals in the postse season than the regular.
Biz Nasty
Yeah, but that's not hard because there's probably guys in there who scored like. Like four in the regulars.
Keith Yandle
He only won 12.
Guest Analyst
Minimum 10 goals. It's a minimum 10 goals.
Biz Nasty
Okay. Okay. All right.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
Okay. I thought I read he was the only one with 12 or more goals to get more in the playoffs. I. Either way, what we're witnessing, these aren't like. These aren't like goals either.
Biz Nasty
Nobody. They're beautiful, unreal individual efforts.
Keith Yandle
The most shocking thing. The most shocking thing about that stat is that he didn't have 40 goals this year. Like, he looks like a guy that's getting 40 every year. The way he's playing. I do not understand how he only had.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
Now the first one. Guys, I got a screenshot that came across the wire. He's holding. Did he rip Walker stick out of his hand?
Biz Nasty
Yeah, he gave her the. He gave her the Heisman and maybe got a piece of it, but fucking playoff.
Keith Yandle
How many times a game does that happen?
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
Yeah, where you're actually holding the guy's stick.
Biz Nasty
Okay, so
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
Kane's fans were on both. The second one, you grab a guy's stick driving that like that, that's hockey. That's a power forward. You're going to get your hand into that defender stick. Who, by the way, that was Jacob slaving on the second one. And then he tucks it around Anderson. And. And on the first one, though, when you're not driving the net in your middle of the ice and you just kind of grab it and you're holding it. But he was sneaky with it.
Biz Nasty
It was.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
It was. It was sly. It was smooth. It was smart. Triple S. Shut up. Me and I. I was. I was like this kid. I. I don't get how he was. I didn't even know he was drafted by Tampa. And then the Rangers had him. Then they trade him.
Biz Nasty
I'm like master class. So. So I don't know if you guys saw the mic'd up on the bench where Torts at the beginning of the game he was like too much east, west. He's like, let's get it going north, let's get it going north. And they were mentioning how much Howden and Marnder since playing together, they like that give and go and where Marner got it. He knows exactly where Howden's going. He's forcing it down ice. They said they like to play up with their pressure. So their D man are always man on man. So if all of a sudden you can just start bolting, you might get that quick stride on them. So you create that one on one. Marner, I don't know if there's a better guy in the league at doing those like flip flobbles in the, in the neutral zone, those lob passes. That thing sat perfectly like it hit the gap and just died where he put it with a little bit of English on it. So credit him with that beautiful apple. And once again, Howden individual effort. Just like the second goal where Yan's I think it was you texted the group chat like that. The seas parted. Slavin was taking a nap. Back door on, on the wide side there. What the fuck's he doing?
Keith Yandle
Yeah, I. I'm not sure. He had a couple plays and I don't know. I mean obviously everyone's banged up right now, but he doesn't look exactly himself through two games at this series, which when if he's not at his best, they have zero chance of winning this, this series. But yeah, I don't know, something seemed a little off. Even the one that got called back on Barbershop, he was like swimming around like I don't, I don't know what he was doing there. But yeah, man, Howden is the sneaky, sneaky player and it just one of those guys and we've talked about it like guys like, like a guy like Barbershop, it's like who cares what he does during the regular season. He's going to show up when the games matter and he's putting the team on his back.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
But Barbara is more of a meat easy. I get him like you know, going through maybe hot, hot spells, cold droughts, whatever it may be through the regular season. How so fast that you're right? Like yeah, he's a 30 goal guy in the NHL and my. I see him right now, I'm like, all right, yeah, standard 25, 30 goals, boys.
Biz Nasty
He's playing with Mitch Marner.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
I know, but playing with Martin. But biz, here's a great point you just made about the, the pressure with Carolina. A D is always pinching down the wall. Constantly. They'll go, there'll be pucks around the wall, where oftentimes you'll see teams, the forward goes to get it. Forwards don't even attempt it, knowing the D's coming down. Other teams, fan bases that have played them, I think they've been screaming, send a guy, send a guy. And obviously Vegas has kind of figured this out and boom, Howden's gone. And that was the exact way to beat their pressure. That first goal, it was like just high flip, create a one on one battle and you never know what happens. I'll grab a guy's stick, the ref won't see it. I'll get a breakaway and I'll get my 12th. That was just. That tied his regular season total. Little did we know he'd get another one.
Biz Nasty
So, I mean, so basically 50 minutes through this game, I was having the same feelings as you guys. I'm like, this is going to be a sweep of a series. Kane's power play was. Yeah, they, they started out great in both games. Like I thought this game, they started out great. Yeah, they had the shot volume going. I think Vegas might have had, what, two shots in the first period. They had nothing. They had nothing really going towards the net other than that grade A that Howden created. And then all of a sudden second period and then halfway through the third, you're like, they got the Anaconda chokehold. They got nothing going. But finally that second line that we've seen come to life so many times throughout this playoff run, Stankhoven rounds that net and gets that lucky bounce and then boom. It really felt at that point the whole game shifted right there big time.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
Now the question is, and you saw torts over with Anderson on the bench after the stankhoven, he was not happy.
Biz Nasty
Why not go strong side?
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
And I don't blame him because he. They win the draw. It's exactly what you need. And I would love to know, like that's when you do anything for full mic'd up ability to, you know, oh,
Biz Nasty
I can read lips. What do you need to know?
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
I want to know why Anderson didn't put it up the wall after he wheeled the net. He was obviously saying something Like, I didn't see somebody.
Biz Nasty
No, what he said to him, he says, you want a fucking contract extension with the Vegas Gold Knights? You put that up the strong side or I'll have Pinky in the brain down here trading your ass in. No time, motherfucker.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
Weak side, weak side, weak side. He went back to the strong side.
Biz Nasty
Well, sorry, but yeah, but he was holding the puck and he skated to. To. Now what was the strong side? Right? Like, like, make the play up the strong side. He's on. He brought the puck to the strong side. Now go. He's now the. Him turning back, is going back towards the weak side now.
Keith Yandle
No, but does that have anything to do with them being depleted on the back end and his oxygen in his brain, like you say, is shut off? And you know, like when you're playing more minutes and playing harder minutes, like playing that much and getting out there, every other shift against that team is a nightmare.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
Yeah. But after Stank Hoven with just an incredible effort, as army said right in the chat, just a WHL effort, I think he considered the Michigan, oh, 100. I think he was gonna do the Michigan. And then he couldn't really settle him. And I was like, oh, my God. And then he did. It was a little bit of a lucky bounce, but even attempting the Michigan there, I'm like, what league am I. I played in this league. I didn't play in this league.
Biz Nasty
I think Svetch did it against Montreal in the. In the. In the third round. Right. He tried it too. He had a lot more success at getting it up and almost trying it. But do we. Can we show like a screenshot of. Of him trying that in. In this game tonight?
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
It's kind of. It might. It's. It might just be like video you have. It's like a one second clip which we can't show of him. It just looks like he's trying to pick it up. But just amazing. And then. And then bizarre high flip on the other end.
Biz Nasty
The flip creates flip fits. That's. That's the new saying. These. These high flips create fits.
Keith Yandle
Think of Pittsburgh when Pittsburgh was winning their cups. Like, that's all they did. They did that over and over. Florida does that a ton with Ekblad's really good at it. Me is really good at like these guys, especially against Carolina when they're coming down, when you're trying to go out, if you can high flip it and beat guys to races and whit. You know how it is as a demon, if you're Backpedaling. The puck's coming up. It's a panic. A guy's usually coming at you 100 miles an hour. You're backing up, trying to find it. The lighting's different. It's a nightmare of a play. And obviously you have to be good at it, because if you're going to be icing the puck all the time, you're going to hurt yourself. But if you can do that, put it in a good spot in the neutral zone somewhere, you're going to get opportunities.
Biz Nasty
Huge, huge, huge conversion by Jankowski going top titty there on Hart. All of a sudden, it's a tie game. Now we got to get to Mess versus Jackson. Rowdy, I think that Vegas got hosed here. You tended to disagree with me on the group chat. Have you changed your mind?
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
With. Then I saw, and I don't know how I didn't see. Okay. Throughout the. Throughout the replay being shown. I was kind of busy on the Internet. I'm cheating and I'm. I'm like, this is the dumbest challenge of all time. I'm. I. But that's the boochie tweet. That's the picture.
Biz Nasty
It was never frozen for one second. Like, it was still live, basically in this area here. And when Barbershev made contact, there was no sign of him freezing it there.
Keith Yandle
And they didn't call it. They didn't call it a no goal. They called it the interference, and that's why Mess was pissed off. Like, if that's free and loose and you can see it, you're allowed to poke at that thing.
Biz Nasty
Yes, There was no. No interference there whatsoever. I think this was a botch ball.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
So you're saying that. And now I'm on your side. So I'm saying the same thing that goes to the league that goes up top. How do they. How do they get that one wrong?
Biz Nasty
Because I think.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
What do you think they're saying?
Biz Nasty
At least I think it goes back to the referee on the ice, who, when he lost contact of it. Okay, it's in. So keep in mind, look at how he is right now. The ref can't see that puck, which is fair to him. Okay, Bring that picture back up, please. So when. When Barbashev comes around the net, he tries to stuff it and the. The puck's still moving around. Like, at no point was it frozen. And it wasn't like, it was like it was in there for a long time either. It came back out, and then he hits it again, and then it goes to that area and as it's loose, he pokes at it. It's all happening in one motion. So for them to say to him, to say, okay, he lost contact of it and therefore even though if the whistle wasn't blown at that time, his intent was to blow it not in the right position, it's a clear blown too early. There's no goalie interference whatsoever. But he thinks because it is frozen and that his stick goes underneath and pokes at it, that that is the goalie interference. But I guess the people up top in Toronto can't change that ref's opinion on the fact that he wanted it blown when he wanted it blown and that was communicated, therefore they can't overturn it. But I believe that Vegas got hosed and that should have been the go ahead goal. 3, 2. At that point in time.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
Yeah, I agree with you. It's a ballsy review. It's a ballsy challenge because the only
Keith Yandle
reason they challenge that is because of how bad Carolina's PP has been. And they're like, ah, it, it's a free challenge and boom, they wake up.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
So I agree.
Biz Nasty
So that, so that's the other thing too. I can't blame Torts for that challenge. If I would have seen the angles that, that were playing on the TV of like when Barbashev. And keep in mind he's making hockey plays and that puck is never in there for like any type of extended period of time. He whacks at it to try to score, it pops back out, he whacks at again, it's sitting there, he gets it and it's in the net. There's never any type of dead time. So Torch is like, okay, well they're going to go upstairs and use their common sense and this is going to come back a goal. So. And like you guys said, the fact that the PP has been dog shit, I don't know if that's in the back of his mind as to why he wants to be aggressive. Oh, calling that has to be more like.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
I'm more like that moment.
Biz Nasty
You think, you think that that has to be.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
Has to be. I'm not going to do it. I'm going to do it. I'm going to Edmonton's power play. You're not challenging that.
Keith Yandle
Yeah, no chance.
Biz Nasty
Post game, sports post game. I challenge that 10 out of 10 times and I agree. And, and I kind of disagree with you that I don't think that the, the Carolina's power play being dog mattered. I think that he watched that and all the people on their side were common sensing it like, that's a goal, and it should have been.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
Okay, but let me ask you this. No matter what's going on with goaltender interference, once the ref decides to blow the whistle, and we all know that if he doesn't even blow the whistle before it goes in, just the fact of him attempting to. That's a whistle blown. Right? So wouldn't it have never come back anyways because he blew the whistle? Do you understand what I'm saying? Like that?
Keith Yandle
Yes, I agree with. Because usually the ref will come over and tell you why they're. They're calling it no dead.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
It's over.
Keith Yandle
Yeah, I blew it dead. Or if I'm wondering if he told him the reason why it's no goal. It's because it's goaltender interference, then he has even more of a right to even want to challenge it because he's looking at this photo. Freddie Anderson was swimming that entire sequence of play. Like, he came out quick, fell back,
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
he's throwing first save. Great. First one on the wraparound.
Keith Yandle
Yeah.
Biz Nasty
Yeah. So you're saying if the ref. I. I don't. I don't remember this in real time. You're saying there's a chance the ref goes over and saying, the reason we're calling it not a goal is because of goalie interference. And then they watch that and they're like, there's no goalie interference there, so let's challenge it. And then, in fact, it was more about when he wanted to blow it. That played a fact.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
That's why I thought it was never coming back, at least, because I'm like, oh, he blew it dead. He blew it dead no matter what. So that's why I was like, why is there a challenge? The play's dead. So I'm. I'd love to know if. If. Gee, keep watching the posts.
Keith Yandle
We need refs doing pressers after the Borderella's full quote.
Guest Analyst
There is. I saw Tortorello on what made him challenge. I saw a loose puck in front of Freddy, our player stabbed at it, didn't move the goalie, and it goes through and went to the other side. I challenged that 10 out of 10 times.
Biz Nasty
That's the way I saw it, boys. And if. And if it kind of. It kind of goes back to. To when Oilers got their season hosed with. Well, they didn't get hosed. It was over the line. But how the ref in the corner was like. And then his initial call was a goal. So that initial Call probably was a reason why, even though you couldn't see the puck across the goal line, as to why they ended up calling it a goal. Right.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
Yeah. Throw the, throw the still up there again. Cause I just want to mention something. If you can. Fishy or G, whoever's doing that.
Biz Nasty
All right.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
Maybe this is impossible because Barbershev had just come around the post on the bottom of the screen for the wraparound. I think though, most elite refs are already standing on the back of the net there.
Biz Nasty
That's, that's, that's tight. That's if you can get there.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
That's why. Because, because he had just wrapped it around. But, but if, if you, if you could widen out that picture, which I know we can't, he's further away from the net than he should be. Maybe he couldn't have got on top when they're looking over, over the crossbar. But he, if you watch, he's not like. Right.
Biz Nasty
But it was also a broken play because. Slaving fucking eight. Shit. Right?
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
Yeah. Well, no matter what, the fact is that I, I, we, we on the group chat, it's been this power play that they're not going to win the stand the Cup. Like you can't win the cup without.
Biz Nasty
That was my main reason all of a sudden.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
And I didn't even know this aspect. Talk about not paying attention. So Stahl just goes out for the face off and then after, if it clears, he's off. Yeah, he stays out there because they had possession and he. What a beautiful tip. Enough to the point where when they took him off before the OT winner, I'm like, how the is he coming off at this point? You gotta leave him out there. He already got the lead with one of these things. But once again, I was wrong because they got it done anyways. But man, what an incredible play to get. Body position and just a straight up caveman celebration. Kind of little running man on the feet, places going bananas. And I'm like, they're gonna fucking do this.
Keith Yandle
And wit, if that. If, if it's in the second period or. Yeah, just in the second period, he'll still change, but because it's the far change and he's in front of the net, even if they have possession, sometimes he'll go off while they have possession.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
Okay.
Biz Nasty
Because it was such a far way to the bench that he didn't go, it's like, might as well stay in on it, right?
Keith Yandle
Yeah. 100. Like his job is netfront. He's obviously did what he does and yeah, unbelievable tip. And did you see Goss's bear too? His celebration going in? He knew he tipped. It was amazing.
Biz Nasty
So he's been awesome. Like he had to, he had to be their Theodore this series as far as providing that offense, walking the line, dipping and diving, making plays. Their power play was because they kept looking for the perfect play. The perfect play, the perfect play. Going through seams. Yeah, they've, they've, they've thread the needle a few times, but he just finds a lane and he fucking just zips it through a sifter. It ends up getting tipped by Stall. That's what you need. And all of a sudden after that, then things started opening up a little bit more, especially as they got that next power play. So to me, simplification, especially if you're Carolina, with how good Vegas's penalty kill's been all playoffs. I think they have fucking just as many goals scored on their PK as they have have allowed on other teams power plays. So maybe, maybe, maybe now they're minus one considering the goal today or the two today. Excuse me, but just a remarkable execution at a time well needed. But if there's one thing we know, the cardiac kids, the comeback kids, whatever the fuck you want to call them, from the regular season to the playoffs, they don't die. And they will score. Like you saw against Utah, six on five if they have to. They are never dead and they are never out of it. What a fucking goal. What a play by Marner to get it through. And a huge, huge goal in front of the net. You guys have it.
Keith Yandle
They look more confident when they're down a goal. Like there is zero panic to their game. They're not forcing doms. Like you can tell when a team gets nervous when they're up a goal and fighting it, trying to score. They are just so calm. Like they're just holding on to pucks, making plays and yeah, man, like Mark Stone. Like that's a lucky bounce, right? It goes, it hits two different people, but he's there. Like that's why his hockey IQ is so high. He's in a spot where he knows like he feels that puck maybe hit him in the ass and just turns around, wax it in and boom. Gets you a huge goal. So I, I, it's remarkable how confident they look when they're down. A goal is like if you're up a goal against them or two, you can never be comfortable. And that's a tough way to play.
Biz Nasty
So wait, was it you who mentioned it in the Chat or maybe it was Yan. So at that point in time on the face off, they were shorthand.
Keith Yandle
They were still killing.
Biz Nasty
They were still killing. So six on four. So they. I think they had. It was stone on the wall against Chatfield. So even though they win that draw, the reason they can't get the clear is stones all over them. So Chatfield tries to pound it around the weak side, and I think it only gets to Blake, like just past the goal line on the other side, and boom, it's alive. You weren't happy with. With the way that Jackson Blake played Marner on it.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
Yeah, but I'm like, really nitpicking. But if you watch Blake comes flying out of the zone as Marner's like bringing it up to the top of the circle at that point. All right, so it's six on four. You're making it six on five. I think you're just running at him like you could. You could body him. You could get your stick there. What he does is he kind of peels off. And if you watch when the goal scored, he's kind of standing in no man's land covering air like I want. I'm. I'm more curious if Brindamore's saying in video tomorrow like a here, just run Adam at this point because nobody's around him. You know, with the patience of Marner, like, he's going to find Elaine. The other crazy part of that is when we all played, maybe Keith, towards the end of your career, you noticed, obviously it changed. It was like you never really left a forward behind you alone. It was about tying him up. And now you're fronting guys, okay, you're fronting it.
Biz Nasty
Especially knowing Marner's at the top. He doesn't have the big bomb. He just sifts them through. So that was your half.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
You get it. And when you don't get it, all of a sudden Stone's behind you. Now Anderson makes the save. It, of course, it bounces off of. Of Stone's leg. And then at some point was it said that slaving tipped that in.
Keith Yandle
I.
Biz Nasty
It looks more like when stone whacked at it. I think that they said there was a different angle on sportsnet where it clearly shows that Stone gets it. But yeah, Slaving and stone's me stick meet basically at the exact same time. And then that's where it just squeaks through Anderson. But I. I feel like Stone got a pretty good piece of that. And that's where that guy with that stride makes his Money is net front. And I think if you added up all the goals that he scored, he still wouldn't hit center ice as far as this playoff.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
So the crazy part was I felt bad for Jackson Blake because I once we had him on, I like him a lot. Good kid, hell of a player. Can't believe he makes five million bucks for the next fucking eight years. But I don't know what he was thinking when he. When he stuck his hip out on Barbershev. Just a really unnecessary play there. And he sold it, no doubt. I mean, he didn't just sell it. He was laying down like he was in injured, but just no need, right? Like, he's kind of on like the back pressure, back check, and he. And like, I. I don't really blame. Like, you're just trying to make a little.
Biz Nasty
You're just trying to punt that puck in the neutral zone and get fresh bodies on. Like, he doesn't need that extra time and space to make that play. And essentially that's kind of the. The breakdown. Like they get the penalty kill quote, unquote. But it's on that sequence of the guy coming out of the box. Your reads are a little bit different. Not having your. Your full six on five structure, and ultimately it leads to the tying goal. But I. I had a. A bad feeling for Carolina going into that overtime, boys.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
So did I. But the first shift, I think it was Stankhole Stank flying, flying in, and he almost got it. And I was like, oh, okay, okay, okay. Like, they are. No, no surprise. Like, that's how they start games, too. But they're. They're coming right now and they get. They get it. They draw a penalty pretty quick. I have no complaints. I would hope nobody has any. Any complaints. A trip. And Hurdle doesn't get the puck out. It was him who didn't get it out, right? Because unfortunately, the view of the. Of the, you know, the tv, you couldn't really see what's going on on the wall. And all of a sudden you hear the crowd go nuts and then the whistle blows with the arm raise. I'm like, I want to see this. Because even rooting for Caroline, like, this better be a legit penalty, and you have to call that once you got a call, like, scan opener.
Keith Yandle
That's what Tortz is when they had him miked up and he's saying, we got to go north, we got to go north. Stop bringing it back like that play right there. You're definitely seeing that in video. Hurdle's gonna have a Sit down with torts tomorrow. Be like, hey dude, you gotta just punt this out at least into the neutral zone. Especially in, in overtime. It's one of those plays that you can't like five feet inside the. Each blue line has to get in or has to get out. So that one, he'll, he'll be kicking himself for that. I feel bad for him because Hurdle's such a likable guy, but yeah, it's one of those things. You don't get it out, something bad happens and then boom, you're the series is tied. 1 1.
Biz Nasty
Pretty crazy stat. Vegas, their 2 nothing blown lead in the third period. G just posted it where I don't know if you can read that bad boy.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
I can read this. So there, there's two parts to this stat. Now I'll read the first one that, that they mentioned on the broadcast as they signed off. It's the first Stanley cup final in a hundred, like ever. 108 years where a team has come back from multiple. A multiple goal deficit and won it in games one and two. So that's, that's wild to know that Vegas is down to nothing early. They win game one. All of a sudden Carolina is dead in the water to nothing. Game two, they end up winning. So amazing. And in this stat, Carolina became the first team since the 1944 Canadiens to win a Stanley cup final game after trailing by multiple goals in the final 10 minutes of regulation. In 82 years, it's been so. You're seeing things happen in this series where we all had the feeling it was setting up to be an all timer and it's happened. And Biz, you mentioned the power play and how keeping it simple got him the. Got him the first one, the stall tip. And early in the game, their first power play, they actually had one great seam pass. Blake found hall and Hart made an awesome save on him. But after that they kept kind of trying it while they get the stall tip in goal. And then this one, no question. Now what's funny enough, when Ajo had it, if you look, Svechnikov beat his man out of the corner. Oh my God. All alone in front, slamming his stick. It looked like it was going to be a like if he slid it to him like a tap in empty netter almost. But he doesn't give it to him. Goes up top gossip fakes it a little bit with a shoulder. And Jarvis boys, he fucking needed it. And Sean McDonough was saying, yeah, the, the big guys have been called out a little bit and if One of them gets it here like everything shuts up, all the noise goes away and
Biz Nasty
it happened, Biz, it happened. And last game. Go ahead, Yance.
Keith Yandle
No, I was just going to say the breakdown of that, the PK sequence. It was Wild Bill and Eichel, they got, they. They were covering the same exact spot in the middle of the ice when. Gossip biz, you were talking about him earlier. The way he can walk the. Walk the middle of the ice and get guys out of their position. Both Eiko and Wild Bill were standing right in front of each other. No one on, on Jarvis and they just slide it over to him and he pounds it.
Biz Nasty
So you're. So are you referencing typically the, the high forward side who's killing the penalty if he's with Gossas spare and gossip spare start starts walking the line. In some cases when they get to mid ice, they hand it off to the other winger to the other side. Whereas some teams, they'll say, just stay with that guy. You roll up top and then that weak side forward will now come underneath and below him and then he'll take down the other side once Gossaspar goes by. But going back to Jarvis like he had a grade A last game that he flubbed on, he got, he barely got any wood on it. He probably should have put that one in the back of the net. And then he basically had an identical shot on that, that power play last game where he completely whiffed on it and kind of like lost his balance and fell over when it was kind of pretty much right in his wheelhouse, as you saw today. So for him to, to. To get to redeem himself and also get the big boys going as well as like that third period boys, 50 minutes in, you're thinking, where the fuck is the stankhole in line? Where the fuck is the, the aho line? Like really, you go back to game one, it was, it was, it was the third line Stall Ehlers and Martinuk who were getting it done. They had three of the four goals. So for them to, to get those two lines going with those two huge bounces now going back to Vegas with potentially them down McNabb and a complete shift in the momentum in the series. Now it's starting to look like six or seven games where 50 minutes in we were bringing out the broomsticks and thinking about the complete restructure and maybe where Tulski was going to be GM and next year.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
No, I was like, this team is a joke. I can't believe this. This is exactly what happens when they play a legitimate big boy hockey club contender and they're getting worked again? Even though they, I mean they were. They worked in game one? No, but I'm just, I, at that point in the second period, I was so mad. I saw one of the. Well, the shot attempts are 50 to 12. Care about the shot attempts, but they turned it on, they got it done. And we just got to witness an all timer. It was.
Keith Yandle
And it goes. That's the way they play. Like they wear you down and you're gonna have guys out like it's a seven game series and like they, they're built to wear you down over a seven game series. Yeah, they've done it in easy work the first three series, but you know when you're down in McNabb, you guys are going to be more injured. Every guy's getting hit every shift. Like by game three, by game four, by game five, you're going to be. The Vegas guys are limping around.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
Yeah, I'm just, I'm just thinking biz that when we bring up these insane two games and then last year's insane first two games where last year both teams one and five in the conference finals, maybe it's like these teams are pretty fresh. Like that's why the hockey's so good is because they've, it has. I mean obviously Vegas has played more games, but they haven't really been through that much. So they just have so much left to give in the tank for, for the final. Now it turned up.
Biz Nasty
Now let's. I'm interested to see how this momentum shift. Like this is the first time in, in a, in a minute here that Vegas has faced adversity. Like, hey, listen, yes, they were down in the Utah series. I believe they were down early in the Anaheim series as well. Right. Were they ever down in that series? But against Utah they were. I think they were going to be down 3, 2 in the series when they ended up pulling their goalie and then pulling a rabbit out of their ass and stealing game five from Utah and then closing it out in six. Right. So. Or maybe it was game four, but either one, either way, they rolled off three in a row in that first round series. But they were, they were set to have their eight straight win if they want to choke that one away. But all of a sudden now, first loss in eight games, you're down a D, man, you're going back home. You got, you got to, you got to feel good about yourself. And the fact that you split those two and now you get home ice advantage and you're going back and you get blunt in the building.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
Game four, if McNabb is. Is back and I'm Vegas, I feel great. They're going to feel great either way. They have home ice advantage. They got the split. But if he's out, it's like that. That's a lot. That's a lot to deal with because he's so important to them.
Biz Nasty
And, and even if he's playing, man, if you're wearing a full cage, it's. It's a little bit different handling the puck like you just had a. A pretty. You know, a pretty. What do you say? Like a shocking thing happened to you. Sometimes it fucks a little bit with your psyche and your anticipation and your reads, and maybe things are off a split second. So if he's able to come back and play like he was before, despite that injury, well, one, I already have so much respect for him because he's fucking nails. Stanley cup winner leads the league in block shots or at least top 10 guys every year over year. If he can get back to doing what he was doing before, it's all gravy. If all of a sudden they're down to Luzon and in Codwin, I always up that guy's name.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
Well, and they have that Korzak who could go in, right?
Biz Nasty
He just came back from injury, right? And he was like, a week ago, he had the practice jersey on, like the non contact, but I believe that he's slowly coming to clearance.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
Okay, So I thought he was ready to go.
Biz Nasty
He could have been. I remember last week before the series started, he. He came out and he had the red one on, but he was skating with the team.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
Do you guys think that they. They all fly or at least Vegas tonight, or do you think. No, the new age style sports science,
Biz Nasty
they stay overnight, they get a good meal, they get a proper rest on that time zone, and then they fly back tomorrow.
Keith Yandle
Okay, well, traumatic was the word you were looking for.
Biz Nasty
Thank you. I was looking for the word trauma.
Ryan Whitney
You're right.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
God damn it, I'm out. So we, you know, we have that madness we just discussed, and we haven't even spoken since game one. Now, you mentioned. So 4.5 million people is. That's a big number, right? Like, what are we talking? We talking a rank? Do we have a rank there? Like, what is. What is the past?
Biz Nasty
I don't know. But. But hockey is doing so incredibly well right now. You have. I mean, you had heated rivalry. Now you have this on off campus show. Another smut TV show that's knocking off the hockey world. My. My culture is not your costume.
Guest Analyst
It's up 54% from last year in 14% from 2022. And it's the highest rated Stanley cup final game since 2019.
Biz Nasty
It's unbelievable.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
That is fucking that. Which was probably game seven.
Biz Nasty
All people were doing were complaining about all Carolina. Carolina's not gonna draw Carolyn. Shut the up, man. Hockey's on a heater, baby.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
This might be one of the bigger signs that hockey actually is like not going anywhere. Because I was excited for the series, but I really did think that it would not do big numbers. The fact that that game won and it wasn't a Saturday night, like, that's. I'm feeling pretty Larry David good about hockey right now.
Biz Nasty
If this keeps going too and this is a close series, like it's just going to keep getting better and better. I mean and the fact that you don't have to compete with the NBA and they're doing on and off days, that is a big bounce as well. So good for the sport. And it's on full display and we have two amazing teams going at it. So shout out to Carolina. Not bending over and going down. Oh, two on at home.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
Game one starts. Incredible video that ESPN made about Ray Bork. Ray Bork was kind of the main story behind it. They were at his restaurant in the north end, Jessica. And then they're throwing in the clips that, that, that song by the Killers. That's an all time song. And just how hard it is to win it with the clips and the hits. And it was as well done as you can imagine. And our guy Jon Hamm doing the narration, it was what a, what a start off. They bring the cup out. Now that's been new in the past few years. I kind of like it. Some people think it's a little corny. No, no, this is what you're playing for right here. They bring it out and Nikolai Ehlers was shot out of a SpaceX rocket flying down the Wing Snipes one and I was like, oh my God. Like, this is, this is incredible. I haven't seen. This is. This is even more nuts than most. Carolina Hurricane starts and then he gets another one. And I, I at this point I was like, holy. Okay. So not only are they, they're not overmatched. They can play with Vegas. They might run him out of the building. And Biz, you were smart because after the first one you texted the group, you go, hey, boys, calm down. They did this game one against Montreal. They lost six, two, but then he got the next one. And I think you wrote, okay, okay, we're dealing with something different here. They, they realized, don't let up. Don't let up. For them all of a sudden to be down 3, 2 in that game, I, I, that's when I thought I was like, I don't if I think Vegas might just be way better than them. I've been all over the map, as you can tell. I can barely talk right now. But when it went 3:2, Vegas, game one, and they ended up getting that win, I really was like, I think Carolina is completely fucked.
Keith Yandle
Yeah. In that first, the first goal. Like, how infuriating for a coach. You seen what Carolina has done, the first shift of every game, and you're like, okay, just survive the first shift. Survive the first shift. Boom. Ehlers, like you said, shot out of a can and score. So I, I would imagine Torts was pulling his hair out of his head there.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
But like we said, I, like, pinched. He, like, got caught.
Keith Yandle
And Theodore, how about him turning his game? I think he, he had a goal and two assists after that. Like, just knew, like, they showed him on the bench, smirking after. He was like, all right, I gotta pick up my game and take care of the boys here. And he did. He showed up a goal. He scored. He scored in the first. Right.
Biz Nasty
He scored their first goal to get them going. Like, I like when, when guys, if they make a mistake and it's a crucial one, they're able to just bounce right back.
Keith Yandle
You don't have your head down. You're not bitching and complaining. He's like, all right, next shift. Next shift.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
And it was like a minute after Ela scored, too.
Biz Nasty
So since we're on that topic where I think you texted to remind us about something that McCrimmon said about Theodore before the series had even began.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
Yeah, he was talking about how he just keeps getting better and better and better. And I believe he mentioned, like, when Petro had to retire, right. With the injuries, he wanted to become that type player. And I think earlier in his career, no doubt it was, he was a power play specialist, very offensive. And McCrimmon was just mentioning, like, every single year, the guy's getting better and better. And now he's out there, he's pk. He's playing last minute. Like, he's, he's changed his game. He's become a more complete player. The way Pronger talks about guys becoming true number ones enough to the point Where I felt so foolish because you mentioned on the preview of this series how they did not have a shade Theodore in Carolina because I thought Carolina's D overall is better. And I was like, yeah, they've got offensively. But like your point mainly was, yeah, but this guy does it both ends. And for the GM to be talking about him and then for him to have a game one like that one and two. The pass, the pass to Hoden that was so silk. Forget the past. The move he did, who. Who did he embarrass at the top of the circle? I. I could pull it up, but just incredible, like awareness all over the ice. And that's why it was surprising to see him make that decision. But I think early on, like the. Your mind's racing, the crowd's bananas and he gets got caught. And Keith, you mentioned he was kind of smirking like, all right, I up here now. Now we go.
Biz Nasty
And that was you're talking about on Theodore's goal in game one. It was on carrier at the top. Who was his guy?
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
Yes, yes, that's who.
Biz Nasty
That's who he kind of avoided. At least got out of the shot lane and, and listen, like I said that. And it's not to take anything away from Gossas Bear either. Like, I have so much respect for his career trajectory and how he was basically pigeon tossed by Philadelphia. He ends up in Arizona. That's where I started watching him, where I'm like, like this good kid's a lot better than like I thought he was. Goes over to. To Carolina. Then all of a sudden they let him go. He goes over to Detroit. Now he's back in Carolina. Like this is his series to. To put himself in the theater category. Like, Theodore was able to win a Stanley cup with the Vegas Gold Knights. Yeah, he didn't have to be their number one because they had petrol around and he kind of did a lot of the dirty work and things that maybe Theodore didn't have to do then. But. But you know, as you've seen Theodore evolve, it's like you kind of, you know, he's a. How he's way more of a household name. Well, buddy, if Carolina is able to pull this off and figure things out, guys like gossip spare the stank hovens, the fucking aho, the Jarvis is those guys are going to get the respect that they deserve that maybe a lot of people right now at this point in time, just like their team kind of, kind of disrespect them a little bit. Like we still honestly, truly Believe, though, the three of us, that Vegas is going to win this series. Like, there's no way that even after watching that game, would you say, you, you, you think that Carolina could win this series and they, and they're going to.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
They can. But I, I think right now Vegas is an overwhelming, like, favorite. Unless, unless. Unless if McNabb's out the rest of the series, which I can't imagine cup final and that guy. But if he's playing, yeah, it's going to be hard. And my main thing is. Okay, so they come back in game one and Stall gets that goal. By the way, the stat that came out after that.
Biz Nasty
Oh, yeah. The time between playoff, Stanley Cup.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
Jordan stalls. Set the record for the most elapsed time between Stanley cup finals goal by a player. 6,202 days. The previous record holder, Eric Stahl. 6,198 days. Like, huh? You're telling me this isn't simulation world? We're not in SimCity. I don't get how that's real. His older brother had the record of 6,198 days, and then he broke it by four days. Are we fucking serious? Henry Stahl's sitting in. I don't know if he's still in Estero or if he's at the farm at Thunder Bay. My sperm. Holy shit.
Biz Nasty
Oh, yeah.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
Look at what I'm doing. Look at what I'm doing.
Biz Nasty
Well, he's got one kid cranking the horn, the siren. He's got the other kid scoring goals with that much time elapsed between Stanley cup final goals.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
But back to what you mentioned about Vegas being like, probably overall better. I think heart's better. That was big for him to kind of, you know, like, lose a game. Anderson stepped up enormous, right? Like the. Was he great in game one? No. And then two goals in girly game two. But mainly for. For Carolina to even come back and tie the game one. It was just all Vegas mistakes. So I'm looking at it, I'm like, it's not like they're, they're just dominating play. It's like Vegas would make a mistake if they got a goal right. Like, it wasn't it. It was Vegas looking at the tape of game one and being like, boys, we won that game and we gave them three goals.
Biz Nasty
Freddie. Freddie is going to have to steal a game. Every time that Carolina has a breakdown and Vegas gets a great A, it usually ends up in the back of the net. There was a few in the third period, though, after they ended up, you know, scoring a few goals that he came up with some big ones. We talked about Barbershev, hey, at least good enough to. So it didn't get allowed. But there's going to have to be some breakdown instances, like you see from Hart where he'll make that save and it just completely gets him out of trouble. And you don't even remember the mistake was made. Like game one. Every time a breakdown in the back of Freddy's net had had, like, it's. I don't want to come off as disrespectful. It's not like he was challenged that much in the first three rounds.
Keith Yandle
Well, he was in some of the games. He was getting 12 shots a game.
Biz Nasty
And the one game that I can remember where he was was Montreal. Game one of that series where they had a few breakaways in the back of the net. Every time there was a breakdown, it was in the back of the net. So can Freddie. Can Freddie go beast mode and steal one on the road here where he puts up a performance of his lifetime?
Keith Yandle
I mean, someone said it in the group chat when it was two nothing during the lulls of that game. Do you start Bussy Next game?
Biz Nasty
100%. I would have if that game would have ended the way that it. We saw it through 50 minutes.
Keith Yandle
Okay, wow. And then. But like, I mean, he's got you there. He's. I don't know.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
Well, Anderson's now got to be feeling
Keith Yandle
great because that's what I mean.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
What was the one. What was the save? I think you. It was going wide, I believe, but it was a great save either way. They probably didn't even count.
Biz Nasty
The reason I like that one is because he came out, he challenged, he made the glove save, and you could see he had some form of cockiness and confidence that I don't see a ton from him. A lot of the times it's just, you know, he's like, look at some of the. Like even going back to the Ottawa series, maybe when Brady had in front of the net and he like fell back on his ass and still somehow made the save. Like sometimes he gets. He gets swimming around a little too much that I felt like he was on his edges. He came in challenge, made the save, and.
Keith Yandle
And he.
Biz Nasty
And he. And he kind of popped back up like, I got a big swinging dick here. And that's what I need to see from a starting goalie going into the fortress.
Keith Yandle
And that's what Justin Williams said about when we interviewed him. Remember? He said, like, his his calm confidence kind of helps their team, their group, because he'll make a save like that, and it's like, oh, okay, he's. He's locked in right now. But, yeah, you're right. It's almost got to be where he. He makes that part of his game where, hey, if I make a save, I gotta look like I'm confident big making these saves. Because if that group, too, if they feel like they have something on you with, especially the goaltender, they're. They're gonna abuse you. Vegas will.
Biz Nasty
And we talked about the first two lines for Carolina having like. Like big moments where now they got their confidence going. Listen, the fourth line for Carolina, I don't think I'd seen him made a mistake all playoff long. Like, I don't know if they'd been on for a goal against all playoff long. That's how dominant they were. And game one, I thought they got chewed up a little bit by Vegas's fourth line. Well, who comes through tonight as well for Carolina? That Jankowski goal to get their confidence back and get one back for their team, where I felt like they let them down in game one. So you basically, at this point in time, everybody's had their moment and everybody's had their success moment. So it's his confidence and full.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
Who dragged the leg to stay on side there. That was sick because I. Right, right off the hop, you saw a Vegas player throw the arm up. It did look offsides. It was an awesome play by him,
Keith Yandle
but looked like the Vegas guy tried to push him offside, too, and he still stayed on.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
But yeah, you're right back to game one. So you mentioned Jarvis kind of whiffing on the chance. And then more than that, right before the hurdle goal, the. The save that Hart made on him. Now, he did whiff on that one, too, a little bit, I think, but still for heart to get out there and he made that glove save. And I want to say it was within a minute, Hurdle buries that winner. And that. That shift, that was so like how you have to beat Carolina, how Vegas plays, sizzle, throws it over. And I mean, no. Who threw it over from the corner originally?
Biz Nasty
Because Hurdle cycled it. It was a cycle. He rolled up and he cycled it down to seasons. And that's the man on man bullshit. If you want to pressure to the outside and outside the dots, that's not how Vegas rolls. They're always protecting the middle. They allow you the perimeter stuff. So if you could beat your guy to the inside, that's how you beat that. Man on man pressure.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
Witness what a pass though. Like seasons makes passes like that.
Biz Nasty
That's what I had no idea. I had no idea.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
He didn't either. Buries it. That was so what's the stat here, G? I'm trying to read this quick. Thomas Hurl gave Vegas the lead with 324 remaining regulation, making it the latest go ahead goal in any Stanley cup final contest since Game 6 in 2017 when Horncrist got the winner. It is also the latest in a final opener since 2017 with Jake Gensel got one. So just like I was thinking we were getting OT and then all of a sudden it's over and I'm like, oh, I think Carolina's completely fucked. Also in game one. I think Eichel at one point had me saying he's the best player in the league. Eichel was so nasty at one point he. I think he gave a guy a tap and that was missed or it bounced. Then he hit the crossbar and like the poise he has. I was like. And he still. He hasn't scored a goal in the cup final yet, but he's got nine assists in six games or that was through game one. Did he get any points tonight? I don't know if he did.
Keith Yandle
I don't think he did. Yeah. If I had one gripe with him in. I mean what. What do you tell a guy like Jack Eichel? But I would like to see him shoot it a little more. Like, especially on the power play. Their power play is not going great. I. He's got an absolute cannon.
Biz Nasty
That's why they broke him and Marner up, right?
Keith Yandle
Yeah. Cause it's like no, you shoot. No, you shoot. No, you shoot.
Ryan Whitney
But.
Keith Yandle
Yeah, but like he can. He can rip it. Like let the. The goalies now, like, they know you're gonna pass. They know you're looking for me for. For pass. Like surprise them once in a while. Like the sift one in there from the corner because he gets it and he has time because all the D play off of him because they know he's looking for pass. So let a couple rip.
Biz Nasty
Yeah. Like he did in the. In the last series when he exposed Wedgwood far side post and in there. I don't think Wedgwood thought he was going to shoot that either.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
No. And. And in the all time funniest moment is the end of the game if Mitch Marner's on the Toronto Maple Leafs at the end of the game. Bryn Noore does an incredible job of, like, running down to the D and tapping Nikisha on the. On the shoulder. Go, Go. It's probably the only English, you know. Go and stall who? I think. I think he. I think he might have beat three different centers. He was just snapping them back. That was Dowd.
Biz Nasty
He's a moose.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
It was Sizzins. I don't know who else went in there. Boom, Boom. So Brenda Moore's like, all right, he's gonna win it again. And it works out perfectly. And it slides over Nikisha, and Marner blocks it. Now, if Marner's. And let's say this honestly. Marner looked like he's getting out of the way. I don't really blame him. I guess the guy shoots at 110 miles an hour. If he's on Toronto, that puck goes in, and he's getting carved.
Biz Nasty
Oh, front page.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
Out of the way. Front page of the Toronto Star to Vegas. And he's like, oh, it's like kind of flamingoing. Blocks it. And it's the hero. Look at him blocking the shot. Of, like, this guy has just won it.
Ryan Whitney
Life.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
He's in Vegas.
Biz Nasty
His teammates had him over their shoulder. Rudy style leaving the ice. What are you talking about?
Keith Yandle
He's like, I didn't even mean to.
Biz Nasty
He's already got a statue.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
Look like he's kind of trying to get out of the way of that one.
Biz Nasty
They move. They move the dragon at the fortress. It's a Marner statue of him blocking that shot.
Keith Yandle
I think it was one of those ones where you track it late and.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
Yeah. And you're like, oh, yeah.
Keith Yandle
You're like, oh. Like, he. He's a guy. He blocks a lot of shots for, like, a skilled guy. He's not a guy like me. Flamingo and out of the way. So I think it was kind of. He saw it last second and then was like, oh, boy, what do I do here? And it hit him.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
But, hey, that was going in.
Biz Nasty
It looked like it was on the angle where it went posting in, but I'll. I'll shout out heart here. Hart threw out his blocker, and it was, like, the same level of where that was going. So I would have kind of liked to seen it. We should do some sports science show to see if it would have scored.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
Let's have Memes try to do it.
Biz Nasty
Yeah.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
See what he figures out with, like, an equation.
Biz Nasty
Maybe Ra's world will figure it out when we go there after this. Or not.
Keith Yandle
All right.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
Well, it's been. It's been amazing. I cannot wait Saturday night fired up.
Biz Nasty
No, it's Sunday. Two days off.
Keith Yandle
No, no, no, it's.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
No, no, it's two days off before games four. Game four, they go back to Tuesday. What a city to have that extra day often.
Biz Nasty
Okay, so couple things.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
Colorado's in it. All of a sudden we lose Nikushkin again. Hey, dude.
Keith Yandle
To go back to the Ray Bork thing. It didn't someone say that the reason why they had him do it because they expected Colorado arm.
Biz Nasty
They already had that done because they thought it was going to be Colorado, which. Not the craziest thing. Still a great feature, but it was unreal feature. Yeah. A little bizarre because it wasn't Colorado playing.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
Yeah, I. I guess arm's got a point there.
Keith Yandle
He's got a point for sure. I mean, I always love seeing Bubble
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
because when it started with Ray, I was like, why is he. What's he now? By the end of the video, I'm like, that was incredible. I already shouted it out, but I did for a second go, oh, what's Ray like there at Tresca? What's going on here? Bruins aren't doing shit.
Biz Nasty
The. The even going back to quickly game one. I thought, like, torts calming down the boys after they went down too. Like, I think that he's been really good with his bench stuff. Like, they got him mic'd up. But you can hear what he's saying. He's been pretty bang on. I mean, some of you might say you could coach a monkey could coach that team and they could win. But I thought, I think he's hitting all the right notes and all the
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
right buttons, and he has gone. He broke a record for the longest time in between cup final victories or a game in the Cup. 8,028 days between game seven and 04 and game one on Tuesday. So towards. And then I think the, The. The clip I saw was like, what have you done? Or what have you tried to change as being a coach? I'm trying to be a better listener. I try to listen better. Like me, like talking to my wife. I'm trying to listen better. Sorry.
Biz Nasty
What if. What if next year he's still the coach and by playoffs he's got like the whole, like the outfit, like, he's like a monk.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
Oh, if he's coach next year and they're struggling with eight games to go, he's gone.
Biz Nasty
He's gone.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
If they win it this year, you know, now Pinky and the Brain are like, oh, so we got another thing we can do. We could just call A guy that we don't even know. Eight games to go and then just run through the whole league.
Biz Nasty
Darren McCarty's behind the bench. He's ripping the, ripping the bong, drawing up power plays. What about Scotty Bowman? Imagine they pull him out of, out of retirement.
Keith Yandle
Makes sense. That'd be a lot of days in between Stanley cup finals.
Biz Nasty
We got a little bit of house cleaning. So we are, we are actually going to Boston. We will not be attending games three and four. I would go to six in Vegas if it gets there. And, and if Vegas has a chance to close out. I don't know about you guys, but we're going to be doing a live Stream for Game 4 in Boston. That's going to be Tuesday. And then we got a bagger plan. We're not going. Should we say who?
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
No, no, make them wait because they're so mad that, that Gruden and patty maroon and McDonough isn't out yet. We just got to keep them mad. So they're watching angry. You know how you're watching something angry? You're fucking chewing on nails. I'm finally getting another bag. Or who those next guys?
Biz Nasty
When is that? When's the Gruden one coming out?
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
I, I, I thought it was during the finals. I don't know.
Guest Analyst
Wednesday, boys. Comes out Wednesday next week.
Keith Yandle
The one that, the one that we play in Boston will come out next playoffs.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
No, it's the next time the Bruins are in the cup finals. Could be like 20, 38 for all. But before we get to anything else, I do just a couple quick ads here, boys.
Biz Nasty
Okay.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
Couple quick ads here. Okay. Let me, let me just do my thing.
Biz Nasty
Sure.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
Rollback, listen up. Playoffs are here. The cup finals are here. The weather's Turning Today was 90 actually here. And Rollback just dropped. Some new heat you need to know about. Let's get into it. First, the Robax medley swim trunks. Roback said we do everything else. Why not the water quick dry four way stretch built in liner that is so comfortable you actually want to not cut it out. These things go from the 19th hole to the dock without missing a beat. Game 7 Energy All Summer long. And the lightweight looper shorts. The gym short fabric you love in the looper model you already know. Stretch waistband, belt loops and comfortable lightweight fabric. Those shorts are the best shorts of all time, by the way, because you can wear them working out and then you just, you can wear a belt. Feel like they're phenomenal. Phenomenal shorts. These are the shorts you wear to watch an overtime winner, like tonight and not have to change before you celebrate. Basically, if you want to be dressed as well as the boys hoisting the cup, Roback.com is where you go. That's R-O-B-A-K.com use code CHICKLETS for 20 off your first purchase through the end of the week. Week and shell. Gee, I need the shell. Can I get.
Biz Nasty
Can I give Roback a quick double wrister, though?
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
Yes.
Biz Nasty
They're. They're golf shirts. Like, you can have them for years and years and years. You wash them and then you throw them in the dryer and then you don't have to iron them. They're perfect every time you just put them.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
Flower shirt. My flower shirt. It's more colorful than when the first time I wore it.
Biz Nasty
Another thing, too, is they're. They're shorts. Like, I got a couple pairs of their gym shorts. They're. They're also indestructible and they last forever. Like, I've had ones for three years now, ones that are like, more of like the jogger. Ones that show a little bit more of the leg. I like to, you know, show a
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
little bit more like, is it indestructible or indestructible?
Biz Nasty
I don't know.
Keith Yandle
Indestructible.
Guest Analyst
It would be indestructible.
Keith Yandle
Yes.
Biz Nasty
Did I say. Did I say that?
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
You said.
Guest Analyst
You said indestructible.
Ryan Whitney
Yeah, you were right.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
You crushed it.
Biz Nasty
Well, shut up.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
Me. That was me saying the wrong one.
Biz Nasty
Basically, rollback gear is as solid as my vocabulary was in that ad read.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
Yeah, 100%. And Shell, you hear it all the time in sports. You get out what you put in. If you're eating right, training right, doing all the little things, you're going to perform better. Everybody knows that. And it's the exact same dynamic with your car. Not thinking about what you're actually putting into it. But it turns out it matters a lot. Shell V Power Nitro plus is designed to help remove up to 100% of performance, robbing deposits from your engine. You don't want any of that junk. So instead of your car working through all that buildup, it's actually able to perform the way it's supposed to on the road. And that's where you feel it. More power when you need it and more performance every time you drive. If you're putting better fuel in, you're going to get a better drive out of it. Shell V Power Nitro Plus Premium gasoline. More power, more performance in gasoline. Direct Injection engine fuel injectors with continuous use of Shell V Power Nitro plus premium gasoline compared to lower octane fuels. Actual effects and benefits may vary according to vehicle type, driving conditions, and driving style. See Shell us more for more details. Biz, your truck must eat up shell v power nitro plus like it's M&M's. And it's Wyatt in the morning. I can see your truck.
Biz Nasty
Oh, yeah.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
Give me that truck onto the camera last year.
Keith Yandle
That's got to be a diesel, no?
Biz Nasty
Oh, yeah. You think it's not? I rock a diesel, baby.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
That's when he told us that they can go 500, 000 miles. And we looked it up, and it's true. I believe if you're on fire lately, you're. You're hot.
Biz Nasty
I'm saying a lot of accurate.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
You know who's not hot? The Detroit Red Wings.
Keith Yandle
Oh, D, boss.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
It's not often, I guess it's happening more and more now, but a captain coming out boring. Saying, trade me right fucking now.
Biz Nasty
Was he not born in Michigan?
Keith Yandle
Yeah. Went to Michigan for college. Born there.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
Yeah.
Keith Yandle
This one is original six. One was the. Yeah, you'd never see that.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
That was a Friedman bomb. That was.
Biz Nasty
Can I speak, like, openly here? And, like, I don't want to upset anybody, but, like, I would love to be a fly on a wall. If you put Dylan Larkin and Steve Iserman in a room together alone, buddy, I.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
The first thing I thought was the balls it takes because I'm guessing he does that in person. Maybe the agent calls, but there's obviously some disconnect and a disagreement or friction between him and Eisenman. And it goes back to two years ago.
Biz Nasty
Press conference.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
The press conference at the end of the year.
Biz Nasty
Yeah.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
Where we all at the time were like, oh, man. Like, I'm just. I mean, Stevie Eisenman is my idol. The first jersey I ever got, The Red Iserman. Captain Red Wings. Unbelievable. Number 19.
Keith Yandle
So I wear his number.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
And to just be standing up there and like, yeah, we. We thought we'd get some help. We never get some help. We probably should have known then that this thing's coming to an end at some point.
Biz Nasty
Biz, I kind of respect Dylan Larkin basically telling Stevie, I don't give a fuck how many Stanley Cups you have. I don't care what you did for this organization. He's giving. You know, he's giving it. You ever watch Judge Judy?
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
Oh, I thought you were like, the reliever.
Biz Nasty
Like, no.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
Bringing in the.
Biz Nasty
No, I'm saying I'm not waiting any longer for you to make some moves to get guys in here to help me win. Bye. Bye. I want out. I don't want anymore.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
Not even win.
Keith Yandle
Get into the dance.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
Get in.
Biz Nasty
I, I, I'll throw it over to Yan. Do you agree with the fact that Lin's kind of like, I'm not staying patient anymore. I've waited as long as I have now here, here's the flip side. And here's where some Red Wings fans might say, give me a fucking break.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
Yeah, I think they are saying that
Biz Nasty
Larkin had a great first half of the year. I've, I've sang his praise. He had a great Olympics. He had a great four nations. He didn't have a five on five point in the month of March when they injured. Okay, okay, sorry. I'm, I'm just, I'm, I'm playing devil's advocate here.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
I know.
Biz Nasty
All I keep hearing from these two guys on the podcast are like, everybody's playing injured this time of year. Everybody's playing injured this time of year.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
Well, he's not playing this time of year.
Keith Yandle
He's not playing.
Biz Nasty
What do you mean? After the Olympics, everybody's playing banged up. Yeah.
Guest Analyst
I have a crazy stat.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
I don't know if it's, I think there's a difference between banged up and like a knee.
Biz Nasty
Okay, so you're a Larkin defender. You're saying you to Stevie too. What's, what's the stat, G. What's the stat?
Guest Analyst
Dylan Lin has played in more games in the Winter Olympics than he has in the Stanley cup playoffs, through 11 seasons in the NHL.
Keith Yandle
So I think, I think he only
Guest Analyst
played in one Olympics, six games in the Olympics and no playoff games.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
I think playoffs, five playoffs.
Keith Yandle
His first year.
Biz Nasty
First year.
Keith Yandle
But I think he's sick and tired of hearing, like, you know, especially since he's been the captain. But since he's been there, since Lidstrom left, Zetterberg left, Datsuk left, they haven't done anything right. And he's probably sick and tired of hearing that. Maybe the guys from there, maybe it's adding a little more pressure. You know, he could be hearing it every day. He could be hearing at the grocery stores. You look at a guy like Mitch Marner who grew up in Toronto, played there, he might be hearing some shit. Then once out, maybe Larkin sees what Marner's doing. He's like, you know what? Fuck this. I want out too.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
I, Quinn Hughes just did it. They're best buddies. Yeah.
Keith Yandle
I respect the fact that he did it, man, I really do. To have the balls to go into a guy like Stevie Y to I mean, Detroit's a first class organization. That was like the one team I always wanted to play for, but obviously they were a wagon when we were playing and just to have the balls to do it. And I would imagine him winning at the Olympics probably helped that have the confidence and going into it and he's seeing other guys doing it. It may be some tampering, who knows? But yeah, I mean, at the end
Biz Nasty
of the day he's probably like lava cake luncheon meetings.
Ryan Whitney
Yeah.
Biz Nasty
You think they were doing.
Keith Yandle
He's probably like, I, I, I want to be happy every day going to the rink and I might not be doing that, having that right now in, in Detroit. So I, I, I tip my cap to him for doing that.
Biz Nasty
Do you think that, do you think that it's a fan base divided. If you could say Larkin stays and he, he continues under different management and, or no, I'm, I'm sick of Stevie. Why I want Stevie. Why out of the seat? Because how long it's taken and I'm sick of this iser plan. Iser plan. Like who are, who do you think that they're the, the fan base is siding with here?
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
I would imagine Stevie siding with, with Eiserman and the team based on more so him like kind of quitting them. Like, you know, fans look at things like he's quitting on us. He's quitting on our cities. Quitting on like what we're trying to build.
Biz Nasty
But I would also say there's a lot of people online kind of saying, I'm done with hearing about this iser plan. Iser plan. It's moving at a snail's pace. We got, we got, we're in a tortoise race here by, by. Oh, we need better players. We need better players. We need better players. Well, how about trading some of your draft picks and some of your prospects like the Vegas Golden Knights do like Billy G does. Like some of the other teams getting creative right now and making their rosters better a lot sooner.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
Like being very, very patient. No doubt thinking as a. If I was a Red Wings die hard. So you're two years into. What was it? It's a two year deal.
Biz Nasty
I got a jock sniffer fan write me today. He goes, and this is a guy who's been around sports. Please blast Iserman on your next podcast. So inept that you run your homegrown captain out of town.
Keith Yandle
Yeah. Do you think I don't know if it's a random yeah, that's, I don't, I don't know.
Biz Nasty
Is this guy on tilt that just texted me.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
I think they're all until blame them. I, I'm, why couldn't they keep that
Keith Yandle
why couldn't they keep it quiet and try to trade him without having this and nothing.
Ryan Whitney
Nothing.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
Not no one will. No one will. Part of Elliot's article said nobody will comment on it. Eisenman won't comment on it.
Biz Nasty
Probably wants Elliot Friedman dead at the fact that this was talked about.
Guest Analyst
It puts pressure on the team though, too. If, if this gets out there now there's pressure from the fan base. They're going to get a lot more offers from other teams now that his name is out there. But at the same time, Darren Dreger said this is something that's been going on behind the scenes for months now. So I don't think this is new to other GMs.
Biz Nasty
I didn't want to say this, but I heard Larkin took a on his desk.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
I, I, I'm not, I'm not even, I'm not even going to allow you to mention something so ridiculous as someone disrespecting Steve Eisenman that way. And I know you're, you're, it could
Biz Nasty
be a rumor, but I heard he
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
took a shin around here's the thing
Biz Nasty
now did you hear that?
Keith Yandle
Nope, Never heard that.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
If you think that Steve Yzerman is going to allow himself just to be bullied like this, though, you're crazier than the guy who told you that he took a dump on his desk biz. Or maybe you just made that up, I believe. And then so you're the crazy one because I'm going to sit back now and say, oh, you want to trade?
Biz Nasty
I played the fifth.
Keith Yandle
What's his no trade, no move.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
He has two more years of a
Guest Analyst
no move, and then it goes to a 10 team.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
No sorry, no trade. No trade.
Biz Nasty
Two years. And then if he took a shit on his desk, it adds a third year of no move.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
I just think Wings fans probably are thinking like if, if after next year you don't make the playoffs, like one more year almost now, yeah, you, you could argue both sides like another fucking year. But it's like, I, I don't know. You're two years into seven. It's a hell of a bargain he makes. It's an 8. 7. 8.7 cap hit. He gets 30 every year. This year at 34.
Biz Nasty
Never had 80 points, never had 35 goals.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
I know, but doesn't get paid, does it? Get paid for.
Biz Nasty
I just told you two stats and you got defensive. I'm just giving you the information.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
I, I'm, I'm. I'm having a conversation. I think at the beginning of this, you agreed with him. So it. We're, we're, we're just talking. We're talking like fans do it. A bar, right? The whole creation of barstool sports, the platform we're lucky enough to be a part of. We're having a goddamn conversation. Call me sensitive again at one in the morning, I'll fucking jump to this computer. I'll shit on your desk. Okay. I'm just trying to say. That's why I call you sensitive. I'm just trying to say that one more year, Dylan. One more year. Springs fans talking one more year.
Biz Nasty
I agree.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
And then I get it. If they miss next year. Because that's like, all right, if they miss next year, I think Eisenman could be gone.
Biz Nasty
I think that it should be like a. Like a Russian roulette style. They go one more year, and if they don't make playoffs, they basically do the standoff to whoever draws a short straw and they're gone forever. Forever. Never to be talked about again. Iserman's banner would have to come down from the stands like, let's go all in here.
Keith Yandle
But you're making, you're making this sound like they hate each other and that the beef is with.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
I think they actually might hate each other. Really?
Keith Yandle
Oh, ok. I.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
It sounds like they, they. They certainly hate the strong word. That's a Dan Whitney phrase. They certainly disagree on things. And he just is the captain of an original six franchise. He's from the state and he just said, get me the fuck out of here.
Biz Nasty
I'll beat that. That they hate each other's guts Drum. Until Steve Yzerman comes on this podcast and says otherwise and also rips the bong with us.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
Do you think there's a chance that with Dragger saying this has been kind of going on or in the works for a while that that's why Billy G. Didn't go out and overpay for somebody at the deadline? Because, you know, if there's one team that needs Dylan Larkin, it's the March. It's the Minnesota Wild and too actually.
Biz Nasty
And if there's gm, I don't want to say that can bully, but that would have as much respect for anyone as he would Billy G. That that would be the team that he would trade with. But who would they be able to give up to even get Larkin back? Oh no. They already got goaltending.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
But Merle's has already said that Caprice off took too much so they can't get him. Merles. And I'm telling you guys, I know Merles we are going to be hearing about Caprisov took too much money for the rest of time.
Keith Yandle
Oh if they never win it it's. You will hear that for the rest of the time.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
And he's the one who said it first, boys. Oh, Merle said it first. Now other options. Every single team, I mean everyone needs centers. This guy's. Now I said before I actually believe Dylan Larkin on a Stanley cup team is an incredible second line center. That is kind of the difference between McDavid and. And you know the, the Eichel and I. But I, I think you get Larkin as your number two and you're fucking laughing. Or. Or with Eric Sinek. That's a good enough one too. Do you agree with me?
Biz Nasty
100%. I think Minnesota is very intriguing. I also people keep bringing up the fact and I don't know, maybe we'll get Pasha to chime in on this one. I believe he sure's deals coming up. That feels like too much of a same type of center where I kind of feel at this point in time and Pasha's probably going to argue with me. I feel like he sheer is also a second line center on a Stanley cup winning.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
Yes, yes, I agree with you.
Biz Nasty
You know he's that he's in that 15 to 20 range.
Keith Yandle
So what about Dallas? Dallas for Robinson.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
But going back love how you cover calm Robinson. I love it. I love it.
Biz Nasty
What about.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
What about David Robinson?
Biz Nasty
Would. Would you want. Would you want Larkin and he sure on the same team. Would Simone Nemec get that deal done?
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
Not just Nemec.
Biz Nasty
Okay.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
Throwing a little bit more. Oh you're saying oh, I thought you
Keith Yandle
were talking to Pasha.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
You're saying bring Pasha and look at this guy's fit right now.
Biz Nasty
He doesn't do the. The light late at night. He does the red light.
Pasha
He sure is not going anywhere. Let's just put this to rest. Like.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
Oh yeah, don't change up your core bud. Why would you wait so you'd rather
Keith Yandle
he sheer over Larkin?
Pasha
He sure is better than Larkin. Not having a question. It's. It's not like night and day but he sure is better than Larkin.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
No, Keith, it's. Look at the analytics man.
Keith Yandle
Disclaimer.
Pasha
He's better than Larkin.
Biz Nasty
Is that red light or blue light?
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
How.
Pasha
This is a blue light blocker.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
How. Why is he. Why is he better than Larkin?
Pasha
Because. Well, if you want to look at just straight like on top of the hood stats, he's had more points than Lin before.
Ryan Whitney
He's the.
Pasha
He sure's cracked 80 points.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
And defensively has Jack Hughes on his team.
Pasha
They don't play together.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
Power play.
Pasha
Okay, sure, power play, but that's where
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
you're getting your points. That's where you get them. This guy. Bizarre. You're.
Pasha
Oh, Larkin doesn't have fucking Lucas Raymond to play with. And fucking Patty.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
We're talking. This is apples to oranges, buddy. You just mentioned points.
Pasha
But like I said in the group chat, it doesn't make sense for the Devils to get Larkin. Cause he would be a 3 seed on that team and that's overkill. Use your assets like Nemes. Why you laugh? Larkin.
Biz Nasty
We always talk about strength through the middle. Strength through the middle. Strength through the middle. And if.
Pasha
Yeah, but they have bigger needs. They have bigger needs. Then Larkin would be a 3C. He's not playing above Usher. He's not playing above Jack Hughes. They need an elite scoring winger. Use Nemetz. Use your assets to get an elite scoring winger.
Ryan Whitney
They don't need.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
Remember, this is the guy. This is the guy.
Biz Nasty
When.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
When talking elite scoring wingers. I don't want anything to do with Steven Stamkos.
Keith Yandle
Yeah, true. And you talk about elite guys. Ehlers comes over from Winnipeg. He's playing third line. The man's playing in the fucking Stanley cup finals. He had two goals the other night.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
And Grinelli just mentioned. He sure has hit 80 points once. Then his next highest season was 69 points. So I'm.
Pasha
Listen, I love Lurkin.
Ryan Whitney
I'm not on him, but
Guest Analyst
seven points multiple times.
Pasha
I. I think they're very very close. But he sure is a better player. I'll take that to the grave.
Biz Nasty
Do you. Let's go to Yan's mock trade. So that's the other thing. Other than the battle between where the
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
great mock trade times. Great great mock trade times.
Biz Nasty
The mock. The mock trades. The mock trades. Yan's. The. The robo not signing with Dallas and it always being a storyline of whether he's going to end up there. They're getting tight against the cap and they got some. They got quite a few guys to lock in before next season begins. Could you see them bringing Larkin over and moving Robo?
Keith Yandle
Yeah, I don't see. I mean ideally you'd like to keep both of them. But did they have the cap space? Who knows? And I, I think Dallas has to look at like you have an elite goaltender like Ottinger, you got to be in the wind now. You got to stack your team. If you're losing a guy like Robertson who's scoring as much as he does, bringing in a guy like, I mean, obviously you'd like to have them both, but Stevie Y isn't going to get bent over in this deal. He's going to get some fucking players and some prospects. So I don't know if, who knows, like, would he even sign that? Right? It's, there's a lot to lot to go into that.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
But I think when I soup when I'm not going to say superstar, but when a high end player, a captain request a trade, demands a trade, does the team ever win that deal? Like, look at the Quinn Hughes deal. A lot of time, who knows what Bouilliam could turn into. But like as of right now, I think Canuck, those fans are like, oh
Keith Yandle
my God, that was also during the season too. Right? So less time to deal with it. Like right, right now they have, they have plenty of time to deal with this. They got.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
I do think that this is bringing up what could be a legendary draft this summer.
Biz Nasty
Yeah, I think we're going to get the most noise and action and I think that we're, we're entering an era. It's the, the, the player empowerment era
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
where these guys, we're in the middle. We have, we're not entering it. We're in it. We're in it biz.
Biz Nasty
I think we're in it.
Keith Yandle
It started with Matthew Kachuk.
Biz Nasty
Yeah, yeah, that was. But I'm saying is like that was kind of the domino and now you're going to see way more of that.
Keith Yandle
It, it's beautiful.
Biz Nasty
Way more of it.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
So when you say it's beautiful, like I, as a former player. Yeah, it is. Because players never, I don't want to say didn't have the balls, but they just didn't do this. And now we're like kind of getting like a little NBA style biz. To the point today on the group chat for everyone listening says he wouldn't mind if there was eight powerhouse teams in the league.
Biz Nasty
I've been beating this drum for a
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
While and then 24 shit bums and then these eight just run through the playoffs and it's always like, we got the. And I then said, well, that's what the cap was created to stop. But now the player empowerment Error that we're entering is kind of flipping it back where guys are just. The problem is they're all, they're all going to want to go to Vegas.
Biz Nasty
Yeah, they're all going to. The southern teams are going to get just stack up for years to come here. This is just the era we're in. But I, I have beat the drum of I'm okay with them making the contracts even shorter in length in order to create a little bit more movement. I think that everybody's going to eventually get fed and, and you know, listen, I, I think that right now you're probably looking at some Canadian markets that are going to lose some star American players as a result of other off the ice that's gone down and maybe like media wise and yada yada yada, you guys know all the reasons as to why that's going to happen. But I always believe that the pendulum will swing back the other way at a certain point and that's kind of the era we're entering right now. And right now after July 1st hits, I think that the players who still have like players coming off of entry level will still have the opportunity to lock in for those eight years even if it's beyond July 1st. But once that new CD seven years, I, I believe that if there's players who are coming off of their entry level where certain organizations.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
Yes, you're right. I was wrong about that earlier. It's September 15th for that I believe.
Biz Nasty
Correct. They're going to get that little extended period right before training camp where they can lock in these guys for these final eight year deals. And then after that it's going to be the six on a new team, seven on a current team. I think the next CBA would not be shocked if it's 5 and 6 and then maybe beyond. I don't think that guys should be signing deals longer than, than I think six years is a very healthy number. NBA went short where I think that it's five years for your star players, but any it's four otherwise maybe that's a little short. But I like the 5 and 6. I want to see guys changing teams a little bit more. Listen, do I respect the Sidney Crosby's and the Steve Yzermans and the, the, the Mario Lemieux that played for one organization. But man it was pretty sick when fucking Gretzky got dealt. It fucking blew up the hockey world, man. It's all everybody was talking about. And imagine getting to see a guy like Connor McDavid going to NYC getting him play for the New York Rangers.
Keith Yandle
Apparently he's buying a house in Montreal. That's all, that's all they're talking about. That's all the rumors on online right now. He was in Montreal and he was looking at houses. Obviously.
Biz Nasty
That is crazy. You said that. I got a DM saying, hey, my, my friend in Edmonton is a realtor and I guess they're shopping their place now. Take what I'm saying. With so much big grains of salt that you can't even imagine.
Keith Yandle
So many big grains, like not those
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
mini grains, you know, those big.
Biz Nasty
No, no, no, no. We're doing like the salt. Like big chunks of salt like that you salt the roads with.
Keith Yandle
Oh, oldie style.
Biz Nasty
Those ones we're de icing right now. Yeah, the derma give a grain of salt. You're taking with what I'm saying. I guess McDavid's now on the move.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
I'm getting to the quick hits portion of the show here, guys.
Biz Nasty
Well, Yan's brought it up.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
Don't I know he did. He's someone, his algorithms. Probably some crackhead hockey rumors guy who's like, Ah, McDavid's buying a house. Montreal Saint Blanc. What's the fucking area called? The I, I, I'm not doing this. I'm doing quick hits. Shout out. You're thinking about Mont Tremblanc. Zach Warensky wins his first Norris Trophy. What an incredible like race for the Norris this year. Very surprised. Cale McCarr was second. Dahleen ends up getting third, Evan Bouchard fourth. But Warrensky, he deserved it. He deserved it. You could say they didn't make the playoffs. You don't agree? I disagree with you. I thought that may hurt him, but it didn't. And the way they did the video of presenting it, where they said it was very funny for anyone who didn't see it, he went golfing. And then they set up all these hidden cameras. And then I think Dan Rosen was there to. Or somebody was there to interview him. It was a new. It was going to be a, A little kind of Father's Day. Father's Day. Quick hit on what it's like being a dad. And you could tell he was probably like, what the. I, I think his son's like 2 months old. He's like. And in the interview, the fake interview, he's like, not much change. Like I, he's just like a little baby. And then boom, the guy comes from behind with the Norris Trophy and all his family's there. His dad, by the way, Machine Stallion Machine. He looks like a professional fucking bodybuilder. I was like, no wonder this kid's an animal. And then his brother, who had a baby the day before then got to go play golf with them, I think. So shout out his wife, and then he comes home. It was cool. And Zach Laurenski's an awesome guy. Very funny side note to this. He slept through his interview with RA and I, so I had to call Merle's. And that was Merle's first ever appearance on the show from South Korea, where I believe he might have just taken an Ambien, too. Merles was so mad at me, he didn't give me time to prepare. Dude, I invented this show. I invented the Norris Trophy. So that was Murr's first appearance when Marinski blew us off. But then we got to know him. A legendary shot in the sandbagger. He played on business ball hockey team. They lost, and he wins the North. So shout out Zach. Awesome person.
Biz Nasty
That was the turning point. That's when he took a look internally after nose face got him at the OG Chicklets cup in Detroit, and he said, I got to step my game up. And he did. And then he sunk that amazing shot in the bagger. One of the best bagger moments of all time. Until the Gruden one. You guys will have to wait for that.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
Another. Another award winner. I'm gonna let Ra talk about that award. And finally, here, the Oilers, in a shocking, shocking news story. They're. They're looking to trade Darnell Nurse. And in the article. You know, who wrote the article Biz,
Biz Nasty
I would assume that it was Stoff.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
Everybody reads Spec, Spec. Spec came. Came in with a. With a hammer. And in the article mentions that they were thinking about scratching him before game seven of the cup cup finals two years ago, and they decided not to. But that was part of the article. So not just saying that Edmonton wants to get rid of him, just really. Just. Just making them feel even worse, bringing up the possibility of a healthy scratch in Game 7. So apparently, Bowman and Nurse will meet this week. We'll see what happens.
Biz Nasty
Coming from somebody who had more healthy scratches than games played, it's not as bad as you think.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
The first time I was scratched, remember Ralph Krueger came in, and I saw my name in the morning skate, and it was seventh defenseman. And I was like, oh, my God, I'm getting scratched. Never been scratched. He comes in, scratched me. I was devastated. I was bombed. I was like, oh, my God, did you cry? I got. I got healthy scratch No, I didn't cry. And then probably a sign that, like, things were coming to an end. I was like, this is like, got a workout in, had some popcorn. I was like, I could see why Biz likes this so much. It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. No. I think I ended up being scratched, like, I don't know, like 12 of the next 15. It was a long run of being scratched. But, yeah, Biz, you were on to something with the healthy scratch life. Manny Malhotra hired as the 23rd head coach of the Vancouver Canucks. I imagine that they'll be just horrible again next year, but this guy won a Calder cup for this organization and
Biz Nasty
still hasn't got his ring. But he, but they want it and,
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
and now the question is, do they draft his son who's a super prospect? That's something to keep an eye out on. This one kind of very confusing to me. Then I, I read more about it. Chris McFarland leaves the Colorado Avalanche and becomes the president and the gm, I believe, of Nashville. And that was. I was like, why are you leaving? Is it lateral? No, he's just. Has more power. And Nashville obviously waited for a reason. Everyone was like, why haven't they had a. Hired a gm? Well, they had their guy they wanted. Colorado loses and he moves on. So. Were you surprised by that?
Biz Nasty
I was surprised, but I think that as one of the best GMs and of course now presidents in the league, getting to go to a place as desirable and off the grid is Nashville. With the support they get, no state tax, I think that he could turn that team into a wagon in like three, four years.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
Okay.
Biz Nasty
I think that is a very undercover organization that I could see quickly on the rise, especially with that higher and such. When you're a GM going in a situation with that much money to play with, given the salary cap and, and, and the no state tax, I think that is a great, great situation for them to, to lock in and land their guy as well as. Yeah, I, I just see a lot of guys wanting to play there in the future. Like, we never mentioned their name. When you talk about like, oh, Matthews, where do we think he ends up? Where do you think Lin ends up? Where do you think all these other. We never talk about Nashville. I think that they could slow or, or pretty quickly here, turn it around and create a wagon.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
Well, don't trade Riker Lee that, that kid. I love that I watch that kid. I think he's going to be a stud. We have, we have a Request for everyone listening. When we're all together next week, we're going to be doing a bunch of stuff. We'd love a ton of questions. We're going to do one of those mailbag episodes where we're all together in the same room. Fire away. Any question about good questions. Good questions, hopefully. But about anything doesn't just have to be hockey. Anything you want that goes to chicletsmailbagmail.com so chicletsmailbagmail. Com send us anything you want. We're going to get together and do that. And we were all invited back to this year's Internet invitational. I was just despised by the YouTube golf community. I'm very excited to see Quan again. I want to give Quanah. I want to give Quanah Hog. I don't know if he's a hug guy. I want to maybe apologize. I probably got a little aggressive. I don't really regret the, what I said to him. But, you know, it's been a while and the guy's a hell of a golfer. And if he wants to shake my hand and maybe give me a hug, I'm gonna say, what if?
Keith Yandle
What if he's on the other team?
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
I'm still, when I see him, gonna say, what's up? Quan maybe doesn't want to talk to me.
Biz Nasty
I think he would for sure give you a hug and it'd be water under the bridge. He seems like a pretty level headed guy.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
Yeah.
Keith Yandle
They might even throw you two in the same room. So you wake them up.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
Up. I'll wake him up if he's on my team, I promise.
Biz Nasty
What they sent over. Oh, you got crazy unboxing in front of you guys.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
The way he ripped that open with his giant hands. Wow. I haven't opened mine yet. I, I, Lisa texted me. I got, I got a bunch of packages I got to open.
Biz Nasty
Could you guys give me a drum roll, please?
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
This is good listening. Oh, Beef.
Keith Yandle
Hey, you're missing the picture of Beef.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
Yeah, there's a picture of Beef you can't see.
Keith Yandle
It's on the. How cool is that? What a classy touch. Right there.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
That's awesome.
Biz Nasty
One of the nicest people I ever met in my life to be true gentleman right there.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
And he won it.
Biz Nasty
Hats off.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
Won that thing. Hats off to Beef. Okay, there it is.
Biz Nasty

Biz Nasty
We cannot disclose that. Shout out to the foreplay boys and obviously Barstool and everything, everything they've created as far as the Internet Invitational and our good friends at Bob does all those boys.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
Also. It's a four million dollar purse this year.
Ryan Whitney
What?
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
A million dollars? I'm assuming it'll be a four man team winning it again or woman and each person will be getting a million dollars. So I mean like it could be more.
Keith Yandle
Remember Dave was thrown around like bets that you could make to go back. He was. But no one, no one took the bets. Right. If I remember correctly.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
Crazy action. Crazy action. Very excited for that. So before we get to ra, I gotta mention we have a ton of new merch. Like good, good stuff. We got golf stuff, we got hockey dad stuff. We have incredible stuff. Sandbagger merch.
Keith Yandle
This shirt's unbelievable.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
Let's see it. Let's see it.
Biz Nasty
The sandbagger one. It's awesome.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
The Sandbagger Invitational shirt. Check that thing out. Store.barstool sports sports.com we got some awesome stuff. Keith's got the hockey dad hat. He's got the sandbagger shirt. I hope that's arriving to me soon. I'm gonna rock that shirt everywhere I go.
Biz Nasty
I love this one.
Keith Yandle
Yeah, that one chickens you.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
Hat's sick. So please go check it out. Store.barstoolsports.com we appreciate it. We love you guys. And let's bring in the big guy himself. Hello
Ryan Whitney
everybody. Welcome to Ray's world here on spit and checkouts. It's about time. He's had a show on my clock, my time. This is my butcher now right here. Love it. Great game tonight. Dude. You mentioned earlier with Brett Howard crazy before game one. A hundred to one to win the con Smythe after game one, he went down to 25 to one. He got the two goals tonight. He was friggin two to one. I've been playing in the streets for a long time. I have never seen a line go from 100 to one to two to one within four and a half periods. Absolutely bananas. Crazy.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
Did you bet it at 101.
Ryan Whitney
I, I, I, I got a little taste. Yeah, I felt the wagon. Nothing crazy.
Biz Nasty
What does a little taste mean?
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
Honestly? Like for him, 10 grand.
Ryan Whitney
No, no, no, no, no. That's, I mean, that's not kind of a max play. No, like just, just like close to a scene.
Biz Nasty
No, out under over 500 bucks.
Ryan Whitney
No, no, just 100. Just a, actually less than 100. But I'm like, I haven't, yeah, like I said, I've been a good boy lately. I was like, I gotta get a couple con smites out there. Like, I think Jack was a good bet. 14:1. But like I said, Dorothea 51 Howden. I mean, he's 8 to 1 right now, so obviously he hasn't won it yet.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
But, you know, two to one you said. Right?
Ryan Whitney
He did. During the game. He was down a 2 to 1. But then Carolina come back. So they, they fluctuate during the game, you know what I'm saying? But like, but like I said, I mean, I mean the last, I mean, I dropped the odds at the venetian one time, September 2010. I was betting the Bruins the year I loaded up on them when they won the cup. And I, I was like, I only put like 2 grand on them and they went down from 16 to 1 to 14. And I called my father. I was like, dad, I'm like, he was like a proud pup. I was like, I just dropped the odds here. But like, we were also like, when did fast turn a bunch of pussies do it? It was only two grand. They should be dropping the odds off a small bet like that. So it's wild. Like when you, when you see that actually at action. So anyways, Howden down to that Tortorella, he got bailed out. I thought the challenge was awful, awful challenge on that play. Like, just the optics of that, you know, the intent to blow. Like, I don't know why you would put that risk at that point in the game. It cost him. But they did make it up. They did get it to ot. And also, I don't know, Witty waited until. Yeah, the pull hot that long. They had a power play. They were in the zone two, two minutes left. And I don't know, you got to pull, you got to play a goalie. They have a six on four opportunity. I know they did end up tying it anyways, but I don't know, I don't.
Biz Nasty
So I, I don't know. You get the free, you get the free icing if you're Carolina. They do have a good Penalty kill and they're pretty good six on five. I would. I think I'm letting my power play get a chance.
Pasha
Okay.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
All right.
Ryan Whitney
Okay.
Keith Yandle
Yeah. Sometimes it's too many guys out there when it's six on four. I like it for the face off because you have an extra guy to go get the puck. But they didn't, they didn't. They didn't pull them. Oh, they did pull them when they got the face off win.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
Right.
Ryan Whitney
Yeah, it did end up working out.
Biz Nasty
That was at the other way.
Ryan Whitney
Like sound like an right now, but basically, I don't know. I just thought like when they were in the zone I would have, you know, get a six on four opportunity. But yeah, you guys played the game. I certainly didn't.
Biz Nasty
But either way, I love strong opinions though. Ra. And I'm interested to hear that you didn't back torts up considering I thought it was a botched call. I thought that he. He was going to put it into the like the guys upstairs hands to come through with the common sense as we saw with. With in the Edmonton against Anaheim series. But I guess it always goes back to having to. To start with the. What the ref called on the ice.
Ryan Whitney
Exactly. Like just the initial optics even. It's like. And it wasn't called the goal. It's like, like what do you think you're going to see here that's going to flip this the other way. I just, just.
Biz Nasty
I was shocked we mentioned it earlier. The fact that it was potentially labeled goalie interference.
Ryan Whitney
Yeah.
Biz Nasty
Was the fact.
Ryan Whitney
Yeah. I just. Either way, like. I mean the thing is though, it was a killer stick that killed him. I mean hurdle. Yeah. That's just a careless penalty. That stick when he knocks, stall down, tripped in there. Just. He's got. The refs have to call that. It's just not a tripping penalty you want to see in overtime. But you got to call that he took him out of the play. But either way, we've had two classics so far. So far so good in this cup tonight stuff. This is a crazy stat after the game one win. Vegas has many. Has as many or more wins in Stanley cup final history than 13 of the 31 other teams in the NHL. That's absolutely banana lands when you see
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
that they're not going anywhere.
Pasha
Yeah.
Ryan Whitney
Oh no, absolutely. Just throw guys off the, off the ship and bring more guys on. What you mentioned bringing the cup out. I don't like that. I think like, you know, bring the. Put the cup out when you know, oh, the cup is in the building. Save it for that stuff off. Those guys know what they're playing for. The fans know. They know the dealio. I just.
Biz Nasty
Oh, you thought it was a cheesy intro.
Ryan Whitney
Yeah, I thought it was like, you know, it's like then they do the. The introductions for the lineups. It's like everybody knows why we're here. I don't know. I just like.
Biz Nasty
I mean, what do you guys think?
Ryan Whitney
You know, you're growing the game.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
I already said I liked it. Yeah, I liked it.
Keith Yandle
I think it's part of one of those things of growing the game all for clips and all that stuff.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
The sickest trophy in sports. So, like show it off and then. And if the cup final I was in, they brought that thing out. I think the juices are going even more looking at it right before game
Keith Yandle
one, you would have been like Ealers
Ryan Whitney
drank out of it.
Biz Nasty
Well, you guys, I. I agree. I agree with you guys. I think that when like dangling the carrot and it's just all of a sudden it's like, oh, wow, it's within grasp now she.
Keith Yandle
Is it.
Biz Nasty
Maybe. Maybe pucker some guys a little extra. Maybe. Maybe that's what ignited this unbelievable series so far. So we should be thanking him for it.
Ryan Whitney
Yeah. Then I'll see pictures of me like with it 17 times and like, that doesn't mean that much.
Biz Nasty
Weren't you. Weren't you in a trivia show and you mentioned that, like, you sneaking in and being a part of like six cup back parties was like a top 25 moment.
Keith Yandle
The question. The question was. The question was, oh, you can't talk about it.
Biz Nasty
I don't know. I guess G's giving me one of these ones.
Ryan Whitney
Yeah. The show hasn't. Hasn't dropped yet. Oh, yeah. No, I don't think. I guess they don't want to spoil. But yeah, the dog walk on Boston, Chicago. Yeah, my last. My last.
Biz Nasty
I mean, it's a dog walk. It's not the Internet vacation.
Ryan Whitney
It's not Jeopardy. Either way, it's coming out soon. But yeah, I made my last pick personal. But like, I sent pitches over. It was kind of a setup for. For a lot. But anyways, talking about coaches, thanks for letting me save this one. Congrats to my. My boy Coop. He won the Jack Adams. I. I know a lot of people are complaining online, thought Russia should have won it, blah, blah, blah, Whatever. Congrats to coup, man. I told him, now you got the other Thanos gem in your fist there. You know, with all the Stanley Cups and the gold medals and everything he's won. So congrats to my pal, Happy Farm. But I was surprised that I guess I shouldn't be considering when we talk about the stuff that's.
Keith Yandle
Gold medal.
Ryan Whitney
Huh? Silver. What am I talking about?
Biz Nasty
Oh, four nations.
Ryan Whitney
Yeah. He's got a. I know he's got an international gold somewhere, but. But I know he's at ahl. What do you call it? Ushl. He's got basically every level he's coached at. He's got a championship. Come on.
Biz Nasty
I had a lot of Buffalo fans coming at me because they pulled up a screenshot of when I was on the panel, and at that point in time, Columbus was in a playoff spot and I had my top three as Coop, Dan, Muse, and bonus. I thought that if Columbus would have made playoffs, I would have had bonus ahead of Lindy Ruff for getting that horrendous start to the season that he was not a part of and he was not to be blamed for because he wasn't the coach there. I thought that that would have been more impressive than what would Lindy Ruff had did in Buffalo. Like, yes, congrats to Lindy Ruff and everything he did. Coupe has had far superior regular seasons than what Lindy Ruff has and has not won the trophy. So some Buffalo fans, they want this consolation prize because they got beat out in the second round of playoffs of their coach winning Coach of the Year.
Ryan Whitney
Like.
Biz Nasty
Like, I think Coop's got a good enough resume to have finally won his first Jack Adams trophy and with how
Keith Yandle
many injuries they had this year, and the way that what he got out of that group, he 100% deserved to win that.
Biz Nasty
Thank you.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
Was that not one of the closest votes ever?
Ryan Whitney
It was the closest ever. Yeah.
Biz Nasty
And Lindy's already won one.
Ryan Whitney
And I like how. I like how they did it, too. I like how they kind of surprised these guys. He was presented in a new wing. I think it was Tampa General Hospital. And, you know, they kind of surprised and they wheeled out the trophy on a cotton. His kids were there and stuff. So, you know, I like how they kind of take these special moments and make it a little special to these guys.
Keith Yandle
But.
Biz Nasty
But going back to my point is some people think that I have a vote for Coach of the Year. I did have a vote. I reneged my vote. I don't want to vote on league awards anymore. I said, no, thank you. And I believe that the same goes for you, Ryan. Whitney.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
No, I just wasn't invited back.
Biz Nasty
Oh.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
But G just mentions a good point that Coop's dad passed this year. Right? Like tough, tough year. You know, like the, the Olympics.
Biz Nasty
And I think he passed a few days after the Olympics.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
Yeah, yeah, right after, you know, going through that and then at least he gets, he gets his first jack out of. So I'm happy for him.
Biz Nasty
Very happy for Coop.
Ryan Whitney
Yeah, absolutely. Also, congrats to Chicka. Chris Rooney from South Boston. He worked his. He's working his ninth Cup Final. Wait, he made his debut back in November of 2000. Man, I can't believe he's been on the job almost 26 years already. 50 years old. Yeah.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
He's got games one, three and five of this series.
Ryan Whitney
Yeah, yeah. He gave a little, little quick talk to the boys before they dropped the first buck. So congrats to my pal Chicka. We go back a little bit. Did you see the home plate umpire? This the Philadelphia Phillies pitcher, Chris Sanchez. He had the fifth most innings without giving up around 50.2 innings. And, you know, they finally gave up a run and the umpire actually like, you know, stepped up. He actually went over and like, went over like, and put dirt in the plate and like, wiped it off so, like the crowd would be able to give him an extra applause. Like, you know, he made sure, like to waste a little bit more time so the fans could give this guy like an extra like, you know, 25 robot.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
Couldn't do that move. All right.
Ryan Whitney
Absolutely, man, absolutely.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
Hey, I know you hate robots.
Biz Nasty
You're not down with that system.
Ryan Whitney
No, no, I, I've never said anything about that. No. I mean.
Biz Nasty
Oh, okay.
Ryan Whitney
I've dubbed on AI and Elon Musk and whatever else, but no, I never dumped on Abs. Not yet. Oh, give me a minute.
Biz Nasty
I noticed that you, that you were commenting about the potential replacement of the CNN or not CNN, is it 60 Minutes host?
Ryan Whitney
Yeah. Yeah.
Biz Nasty
Apparently Joe Rogan's in the running to rape replace him. Is that true?
Ryan Whitney
I don't, I mean, Radar Online, I think was the original source. I mean, I don't know where originally came from, but I mean, mean, basically like you say with the anaconda choke out. That's basically what CBS has been doing. 60 minutes. They're like anaconda choking it out. They're making people not want to work there who were there for the right reasons. And I mean, it's been on the air for 58 years. It's been the most profitable show at CBS. It's a show. It's not an old people show. It's. It has the, you know, top 10 ratings every week for 50 years now. And they're just making it not what it used to be. They're choking out what it, what it. What it's supposed to be about.
Biz Nasty
Journalism.
Ryan Whitney
Yeah, yeah, exactly. And like, holding people accountable. And that's like. And, you know, media in this country, it's. It's not a. It's not a coincidence in the last 10 years. People are really down on it now. Journalism, media, it's not perfect.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
Here we go, boys.
Ryan Whitney
Hey. It's not perfect. It's. It's not obvious, but it's essential in this country. You know, like, you need to hold, like, whether it's the government or companies, you need things and people and companies, and they need to be held accountable. And that's why I. We have a free press in this country. And like, I mean, I know we don't do that type of stuff, but we, we're under that same umbrella. And.
Biz Nasty
No, I'm not interested in it. Yeah, 60 minutes that I watch and I'm like, wow, that was unbelievable. I learned a lot about it. Like, I just didn't know how deep it went. And.
Keith Yandle
Yeah, you asked me how long the show was.
Biz Nasty
What's that?
Ryan Whitney
An hour and a half? But, you know, and look, I got. No.
Biz Nasty
What did he say? He said, you asked me how long the show was.
Ryan Whitney
Yeah, 60 Minutes.
Keith Yandle
60 Minutes.
Biz Nasty
No, I, I get the joke, but
Ryan Whitney
anyway, no, I got no beef with Joe Rogan. I just. I just don't think that, you know, him. The idea of him being on 60 Minutes is. It kind of makes me laugh a little bit. Like, I. I mean, I know he's a curious.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
Who's your pick?
Ryan Whitney
No one. I don't have any. I. I just think they should just left things as they were. But again.
Biz Nasty
Well, you should. Since you have such a strong opinion on it, you should think of a replacement as opposed to Joe Rogan for.
Ryan Whitney
Well, my point is. My point is stop. You know, they should, you know, leave. Stop with 60 minutes. But again, this is, is. It's. It's intentional. They. They're like, you know, it's. It's the one critical, major, like, media thing, and it's getting, like, snuffed out. I mean, it's. It's not. That's not a left, right, blue, green, red thing. It's just, It's. Watch it. It's just the people who are put in charge that are firing people who. With zero experience. It's. It's just, It's a crazy time in this place, man.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
Imagine R.A. gets the gig and it's like, tick, tick, tick, tick, tick. And it just goes to him.
Ryan Whitney
He's like, do you ever notice when
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
you go gravity ball?
Biz Nasty
He's like, I'm just trying to get groceries at 902. I don't give a that you close at 9 o'.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
Clock.
Ryan Whitney
All right. This ain't even politics. For real, but like, dude, Hunter Biden has been lighting up Twitter this whole weekend. I guess he joined on a couple days ago. Have you seen any of that stuff? I saw that he roasted people.
Biz Nasty
Dante the Dawn.
Ryan Whitney
Yeah, yeah. He's been like responding to everybody, but he's not. It's not. Again, it's not like taking side. He's just kind of calling a spade a spade out there. But. But it's. I don't know, it's kind of made Twitter like a little entertainer like it used to be all the time. So.
Keith Yandle
Okay.
Ryan Whitney
But anyways, a couple more things here. I saw that movie Pressure, the one about before D Day. The weather guy. We talked about it last week. Awesome flick. If you anybody out there looking for a go see a movie. It's only like an hour 40 minutes. It's an awesome D Day movie. It's like a perfect build up right before Saving Private Ryan. And last but not least, classic recommendation, the Bad News biz. The original 1976. One of the best baseball movies of all time. Him language. Maybe if you're soft, you might know Walter Matau, right? Tatum o'. Neill. Yep.
Biz Nasty
Yeah, I was on with that, that, that K. Adams the other day. She's like a. Like, I think she does a lot of work for the NFL. Yeah, she had an interesting take. I. Because I watched the Batman Rises and. Or the back. The Batman. Dark Knight.
Ryan Whitney
Dark Knight Rises.
Biz Nasty
Dark Knight Rises. Is that the name of them?
Ryan Whitney
That's. Yeah, that was the third one. Yeah.
Biz Nasty
I thought. I thought they were excellent. She says like, they didn't age well and they were like a little bit cringy when watching them back on them, bro. I thought the Christian were. Were 10 out of 10.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
Robert Pattinson. Batman's awesome.
Ryan Whitney
It is. But no, I mean, it's like dark and more.
Biz Nasty
More than you. Like a more.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
No, I like. No, I like the Christian Bale ones better. But that Robert Pattinson one, I was like, oh, I'll check it out. It's long and it was good.
Ryan Whitney
It's like that one would. That's more almost like a. Like a murder mystery movie. It just happens to be a Batman movie. But like the. The Dark Knight and those. Those movies have held. Definitely held up biz.
Biz Nasty
I mean, I know I was shocked to hear that horrendous take. And I actually thought going from the Joker with. With. With what he did with Heath Leisure and what. And how he acted and then to go into, like, Bane, the Bane character, how scary he was.
Keith Yandle
I couldn't understand him, though.
Biz Nasty
What?
Keith Yandle
I couldn't understand him.
Biz Nasty
Oh, because of the way he talks.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
Main one's the best beginning to a movie. One of them of all time. Remember, they're in the jet. They're in the plane.
Keith Yandle
Yeah.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
And he's like.
Keith Yandle
He jumps out.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
Right down with the wreckage.
Keith Yandle
Brother.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
I might have just added the brother.
Ryan Whitney
Tom Hardy definitely did a couple cycles before that.
Biz Nasty
Brother. Man. He's like, one of us has to go down.
Ryan Whitney
Where's the Batman?
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
Let's go see him down there smoking.
Biz Nasty
Have you seen the banana man down there?
Ryan Whitney
I'll be a white. A white villain like Gary Oldman and true romance Blunt man. I'll dress like Biz's giant banana.
Biz Nasty
Banana.
Ryan Whitney
All right, boys. Cup's been great so far. Love the chat. Enjoy the weekend and see you soon.

Biz Nasty
Livestream Tuesday Spit and Chicklets YouTube channel. Game four. See you there.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
Peace.
Keith Yandle
Won't happen, won't happen again
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
it won't happen, won't happen, won't happen again A bad habit worth breaking but it's taking time.
Biz Nasty
I don't know.
Ryan 'Witty' Whitney
Don't let it. It's going to happen it's going to happen again.
