Well, my friends, welcome back to Spot on with Link. Lauren. Happy hump day. We've got a few weeks left until Christmas, until Hanukkah, until Kwanzaa. Whatever you guys celebrate. Whatever floats your boat. I'm over here celebrating Christmas. Okay, the Christmas tree is up. I'm having Christmas cookies. I'm ready to have a good time and enjoy the holidays. But we are saying Merry Christmas this year. We have an incredible guest coming up on the show, Scott Jennings from cnn. You might know him from Abby Phillips show on CNN where they sit around the table and they argue and they fight with each other. Scott Jennings is such a strong, conservative voice, I would say he's an icon. He's a legend and I'm so excited to have him on the podcast today. We're also going to be discussing Jasmine Crockett. Ms. Jasmine Crackalacka Crockett is running for senate in my home state of Texas, which is just a Christmas gift. Come early. Kamala Harris, Ms. Narcissism. She also wants a bust to up of her in the capital and she still has aspirations of running in 2028. So we'll be breaking all of that down, including a little royal update, some things going on with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle and their security. So stay tuned. We got to pay some bills and we will be right back.
Ever read the label on a typical bag of chips? It's often a science experiment of seed oils, msg, artificial dyes and mystery ingredients. Masa is part of the growing movement to bring back real food. Masa's chips contain just three organic corn, sea salt and 100% grass fed beef tallow. Not only do these chips avoid the bad stuff, they also taste incredible too. Snacking on Masa chips is nothing like eating regular chips. With Masa, you feel satisfied, light and energetic with no crash, bloat or gross sluggish feeling. Afterwards, you won't find yourself binging and feeling hungry. And personally, my favorite flavor of Masa is the original. If you love Masa, then you'll love Vandy Crisps. Vandy, Masa's sister company makes the most delicious three ingredient potato chips I've ever tasted. My favorite flavor is Smokehouse Barbecue. Ready to give Masa or Vandy a try? And if you don't feel like ordering online, Masa and Vand are now available nationwide at your local Sprout supermarket. Stop by and pick up a couple of bags before they're gone.
Well, God put a rainbow in the sky. This is really Christmas come early for me. Jasmine Crockett, okay? The most uncouth, inarticulate woman in Washington, D.C. okay, she's basically a caricature of herself. She is a clown. She is running for Senate in my home state of Texas. This is going to be so entertaining. Okay? Beto o' Rourke has also run many times and failed. I feel like Jasmine Crockett is going to fail even more. And I'm not praying for her downfall. I'm not praying for her downfall. But she has prayed for our downfall, okay? She does not like anybody who is not part of that Democratic elite cabal, right? She's an MSNBC figure. She wants to go on Rachel Maddow Show. She wants to go on MSNBC and call everybody who's conservative, Republican, even independent. Maha. She calls us, you know, Nazis and fascist and she denigrates the way. Look, the second you criticize her, though, the second you criticize Jasmine Crockett, you get accused of racism, right? If we say anything remotely negative or critical of Jasmine Crockett, even if it's rightly so, you know, we're supposed to say these things because they're true, she will say that we are racist, we are misogynistic, we are bigoted, we're xenophobic I mean, all of these words get cast on you when you criticize Jasmine Crockett. But I'm not going to back down. I'm not going to back down because I love my home state of Texas. And I don't think she should be anywhere near a position of power. Jasmine Crockett should not be near a position of power. She should be on Real Housewives. She should be on Bad Girls Club. She might be good on Survivor. She might be good on a reality show. I don't know how she's going to do on Survivor with the wigs and the hair and the makeup and the accoutrement. And apparently she has her staff carry around a pillow to prop her up. So I actually don't know she would do that well on Survivor. But I know one thing she's not going to survive is this race for Senate in Texas. And I also heard there was some reporting right before I came on camera. Apparently a Republican group was doing robocalls to her office the last few months and putting up some polling to show that she could win or that she had a chance. But it was all made up. It was all to try and pressure her to run for Senate. And she fell for it, which speaks to the fact that she is a buffoon. She's a clown. Jasmine Crockett is such a joke. She is such a joke. And even her campaign announcement, her campaign announcement was also an utter calamity. I watched that campaign announce, and I've watched probably 100 campaign announcement, right? People running for Congress, Senate, running for the presidency. Normally at a campaign announcement, people are up on their feet cheering and yelling, and there's excitement. Jasmine Crockett, she was speaking to a room full of people sitting in their chairs, half asleep. She's on stage. It's some unintelligible rambling rant, probably written by ChatGPT. That's her campaign announcement. And then the people in the crowd are. Are sitting there. They're sitting there. There's no excitement. There's no joie de vivre. And it's because I can say this because I speak to people from Texas all the time. They don't ever hear from Jasmine Crockett. They never, ever hear from her because she's always going on TV shows. She's always out trying to build her career, become a social media figure. As I've said, she would rather post videos dancing down the hallway than working for her constituents, right? She doesn't want to work. She wants to twerk. And it's why the People of Texas sat there like this in their chairs watching her read this rant, okay? This rant. She also said that, you know, she's been judged harshly as a woman, as a woman of color. We're not judging you harshly at all. In fact, we give you a pass on so many things, but you have no legislative accomplishments whatsoever. So we'll be tracking her campaign every single day. I will be tracking her campaign. Okay, Ms. Crackalacka. Jack a book a. We will be tracking Ms. Crackalacka's cramp. Crackalack is cramping. Ms. Jasmine Crackalacka Crockett's campaign. We will be tracking. The last thing I'll say. Some of her policies give me concern. And I said this on Instagram, if you follow me on Instagram and social media, I spoke about this. One of the policies she's entertained are tax exemptions for black people. So if you're black, right, she wants you to have reparations, but you can't just be paid reparations. So she's going to make it so black people could be exempt from paying taxes. And I've decided, even though I'm as white as this paper, I think I'm going to identify as black. Okay? I might be as white as Casper the Ghost. I'm going to identify as black, so I can also get out of paying my taxes. This is actually an incredible genius idea. If men can just identify as women and go on to women's sports teams. In this day and age, if you can just identify as anything you want to identify as, okay, I think I'm going to identify as black, and I'm going to get out of paying my taxes. But I will say, Jasmine Crockett, you're racist. Reverse racism is still racism. We'll be tracking this campaign, but we got to move on to Kamala Harris. Don't hate me, you guys. Moving on from Jasmine Crockett to Kamala Harris, Ms. Kamalamity. Okay, Ms. Cabernet Kamala. She's apparently still high on her own supply. She also might be high on all those little bottles that are in the mini bar at her hotel because there's one thing she's going to finish. It's a mini bar. I also say all the time, the only way to get Kamala Harris to work because she's so lazy is to leave a trail of margaritas into her office like Hansel and Gretel. She'll be following that thing. She doesn't want to work. Okay? Kamala Harris is one of the laziest women. We saw it with the border. She was put in charge of the border in January 2021. She went down there for 12 minutes. She has blood on her hands. Okay? She has blood on her hands. But Kamala Harris, she did an expose for the New York Times. She didn't expose with the New York Times because she probably thought they were going to be super friendly and nice to her. And the New York Times, they're not going to trash me. I am Kamala Harris. I am Ms. Kamala whatever middle name is Harris, okay? A former vice president. I am a woman of color. I am a woman of color. They're going to be nice to me. Well, she sounded so deranged. So deranged and narcissistic and egotistical in this New York Times profile. Let me read you a little bit about this self. She actually calls herself a historic figure.
Pour yourselves a drink, guys. Kamala Harris has declared herself a historic figure on Tuesday in the New York Times, and she touted that there will be a marble bust of her constructed in Congress. She says, I understand the Faux focus on 2028 and all of that, but there will be a marvel bust of me in Congress. I am a historic figure like any vice president of the United States. Thousands of people are coming to hear my voice. Thousands and thousands. Every place we've gone has been sold out on her book tour. She's also calling all the Democrats that won their elections in November to congratulate them. She really thinks she is this grand dom of the Democratic party. She's like, people are coming to see me on tour. I am the vice president. You know how many terrible vice presidents we've had? Okay, normally, vi president is not a position people are pining for. Okay, People aren't pining for. We have a great vice president now with JD Vance. We love JD but look at Mike Pence. Look at some of these vice presidents we've had historically who have been terrible. Who. Some of them we barely remember. They barely even make it in the history books. Kids don't know who these people are. But Kamala Harris is like, my tour is sold out. My book tour is incredible. They're gonna do a bust of me in Congress. They're gonna put a marble bust of me up. Who cares? No one gives a rat's ass. Kamala Harris, you're a. You are a joke. Like, I couldn't imagine. Okay, let's say they are putting up a marble bust of you. You have to have a certain type of ego and Narcissism and just sort of emotional imbalance, in my opinion, to tell a journalist, I'm doing great, they're putting up a bust of me. I'm a historical figure. She thinks she's a historical figure. I guess because she's a woman. She's a woman of color. But we don't do that identity politics shit, okay? Excuse my French if my. My mom's Bible study is watching. Sorry for the profanity, but we don't do the identity politics S H I T anymore, okay? I don't care if Kamala Harris is a woman of color. What have you done? What have you done in life? What have you accomplished? Okay? You are a career politician with no achievements. And I feel like the vice presidency for her could have been an opportunity to really pave her own lane. Joe Biden, he was non compos mentis. The guy was pretty much dying and stumbling off into the bushes, and Kamala still couldn't take some of the attention for herself. How terrible of a politician do you have to be to not be able to steal the spotlight for four years when the head honcho Joe Biden is half asleep? He's half asleep and brain dead, and you still couldn't garner attention for yourself or make any type of accomplishments. So, Kamala Harris, we hope that you run in 2028. I hope when Jasmine Crockett loses her senate race, she also runs in 2028. I want a Kamala Crockett ticket. And one last thing. Anytime I say I have one last thing, it's never the last thing. Kamala Harris announced this morning she is continuing her book tour. She's adding all of these new dates. She's going to South Carolina because she wants to run, keeps doing this book tour. As I've said before, this book tour is longer than her campaign. This book tour is never going to end. You guys, I'm going to be sitting here, okay? I'm going to be sitting here in 50 years, and she's still going to be on this book tour. Her head might be in a jar of goo. She might be a robot. She might be a hologram. I don't know. That's for Elon and all these people to decide. But she is still on this book tour. I think she doesn't want to go home to Doug. I think when you're on the road living that rolling stone life, you can drink, you can stay up, do a lot of the things that we hear, Kamala Harris likes to do a lot, allegedly. So I think she is going to continue this book tour until the end of time. It's like purgatory. Okay? It's like that show Lost. They can't get off the island. That is her book tour. But we got to move on to some other hot topics now. We finally have an update on Meghan Markle's father, who has been in the hospital in the Philippines fighting for his life. Okay. He had part of his leg amputated. He's 81 years old. He's not in great health. I don't think he's ever met Prince Harry. He's never met his grandkids, Archie and Lily. Bet. And he was someone who provided for his daughter, who was for years. Okay. He put his daughter through school, through college. He worked very, very hard. In fact, all of her pictures growing up are with Thomas Markle. Right. She would even tell you that she was a daddy's girl. She loved her father. She worshiped her father. I think what happened was when she got into the Royal family and she was having that royal wedding, she didn't like the way her dad looked. Yeah, he was a little bit bigger. Maybe he looked too blue collar for her. Maybe she didn't like that. He looked like a normal blue collar guy that we all know and love. And she didn't want him at her royal wedding. She wanted George Clooney. She wanted Oprah. She wanted the world's. She wanted celebrities. She didn't even know. She would rather have celebrities at the royal wedding than her own father. Right. And so this is just a continuation of that. And in our last episode, he had not heard from Meghan Markle. Right. He had been pleading to speak to her because he could die. He wants to reconnect with his daughter, and nothing bad happened. He wasn't abusive. He didn't hit her. He didn't do anything that was so terrible and irreconcilable. Right. But we have an update. Okay. A handwritten note. A handwritten note, as Meghan Markle does, has been delivered to her father in the hospital in the Philippines due to the support of reliable and trusted people, A representative for the Duchess of Sussex said. Now she's still calling herself the Duchess of Sussex. Honey, you've been gone for years now. Her representative confirmed to Page Six that she had gotten in touch with Thomas after he claimed to the Daily Mail that he hadn't heard a peep from the Duchess of Sussex. Every time they talk about her, they call her the Duchess of Sussex. Have you seen anybody more full of themselves? Newsflash Sweetheart, we don't have titles here in the United States. We don't have titles, okay? You could be the Duchess of Scam a lot. The Duchess of White Castle. She could be the Princess of Burger King. Okay? This is also a comment from her team, given that a Daily Mail reporter has been at her father's bedside throughout broadcasting each interaction and has been exceedingly difficult for the Duchess to contact her father privately. The Duchess, despite her efforts over the past several days. See, I don't buy this. She always wants to blame the press. If he doesn't have your number or a way to get in contact with you and you're a wealthy celebrity in California with security in your mansion, he is going to make a plea, okay? He's also 81 years old. He could have some issues. He could have some emotional issues. He might not be thinking super clearly. He's in a hospital. You know what? Someone has a camera and he says, honey, I want to see you. I'm dying. I'm sick. Is that the end of the world for people who put everything out there on camera? She's done a tell all interview with Oprah. Meghan Markle. Harry wrote a book where he talked about all the private inner workings of his family. You know what I'm saying? She has a reality show on Netflix. She just did a Christmas special. So for her to act like Thomas Markle is some evil, horrible person, because maybe he's tried to contact her through the press, at least he's trying to contact you. Use this as a moment to come in and reconcile with your father. Now, the last topic we have to discuss as it pertains to Harry and Meghan, they're still fighting for their security. Apparently it's under review. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. Markle, they've been fighting. They want security when they come to the uk. I don't think UK taxpayers should have to pay for their security when they're not even real members of the Royal Family anymore. Okay? And I have to be honest with you, I don't really feel like they have that many threats because Prince Harry Johnnot, remember when he was in London, he was going door to door, ringing bells, he was ringing doorbells and out walking the street looking for a friend. Okay? I think maybe he was looking for a drug dealer. Maybe he was looking for some, you know, punani. I don't know, maybe looking for a quick afternoon delight, swinging by. But Prince Harry, he's just being hounded by press and paparazzi in the uk. He's out in broad daylight, walking around, ringing doorbells. So this whole security situation is a bunch of buffoonery and tomfoolery. But let me read you this update for legal reasons. So, in May, Harry and Meghan lost their appeal, challenging the UK government's decision to strip them of their publicly funded security.
After they stepped away from the royal family duties and moved to North America. See, you don't live on the continent. Why should we be paying for your security? Now, the UK's Royal and VIP Executive Committee is conducting a full scale review of Harry's security to reassess his threat level. According to the sun, the UK government reportedly collected evidence from Harry and Meghan's team and the police, and their decision will be announced next month. I am leaning toward a no. Okay? If y' all give Prince Harry and Meghan Markle publicly funded security, I've lost respect, okay? These two little hucksters, they've made gazillions of dollars, okay? Whoring out themselves on Netflix and telling all their private details, screwing over their family members. They can pay for their own security. We don't need to pay, okay? If I'm a UK person, I don't live in the uk, but let's just say the royal. We. We don't need to pay for their security here in the US or in the uk. They can hire a couple of guards if they feel like they're under attack, okay? Someone like Kim Kardashian, I feel is even more recognizable and needs more security than Meghan Markle. Prince Harry doesn't need that much security. He's out in broad daylight. So these two, I think what it is, they need the publicly funded security to feel important, right? When they come to the uk, they want to still feel like they're royalty. And I think it's more about that ego than it is having actual threats. But we got to pay some bills. And after we pay some bills, we will be back with Scott Jennings. Stay tuned.

Well, my friends, I could not be more excited about this next guest, okay? He's an icon. He's a legend. You know him from cnn, okay? They sit around, they argue, they snipe with each other. And we can always count on Scott Jennings to be that voice in the room of common sense. So please give a warm welcome to our friend, Scott Jennings. How are you doing today, Link?
B
I'm glad to be with you. Greetings from Columbus, Ohio. I'm out on my book tour and I'm in middle America, but I'm happy to talk to you today.
D
Well, I love Ohio. Half my family is from Ohio. I'm so excited to talk to you. Your book is called A Revolution of Common Sense. How Donald Trump Stormed Washington and Fought for Western Civilization. Now, this is totally up our alley because we talk about this all the time. My political ideology is basically common sense, right? I want secure borders. I don't want men and women's sports. I don't want wars around the world. And I say that's what shifted me to the right the last few years is because you can't find common sense on the left. Were you feeling the same thing? What compelled you to write this book now?
B
Well, I was sitting in the green room. I'm sorry, not on the green room, on set at CNN on January 20, when was sworn in. And he used this phrase in his inaugural address. It's a revolution of common sense. And I turned to Van Jones and I said, that would make a good title for a book, because it is the precise description of how he built his political coalition. And Trump is a Republican and he is a conservative, but I think more than anything, he thinks of himself and describes himself as leading a common sense movement. And I think that branding actually attracted a lot of people who weren't traditionally Republicans to voting for him in 2024. You name some of the issues that I think really fit the bill when it comes to figuring out the common sense agenda. And what he can always count on is that if he takes the 80 of an 80, 20 common sense issue, his opposition is going to take the 20. And that is kind of defined the first 100, 120 days of his administration, which the book covers.
D
Well, what's interesting, there was even this New York Times poll that said 80% of Americans don't think men should be in women's sports. Right. And I think the number is probably even higher. But 80, 20, it's tough to get 80% of Americans to agree on anything. But it seems like the left, and we're coming into the midterms in a few months, it seems like the left has just capitulated to this small but vocal minority. Are you feeling that also? Is that something you explored in the book as you were writing it and researching?
B
Absolutely. You know, we use the phrase, and I've talked about it on the air a lot, 80, 20, in the case of men and women's sports, it may be 90, 10 or 95. 5. I mean, there really isn't a large constituency for this. But that's what makes it remarkable that the Democratic Party allowed itself to be hijacked by people who have such a fringe viewpoint. And, you know, you go back to the 2024 election, it's one of those issues that the Trump campaign, and we talk about this in the book expertly used to not just define Harris as someone who was completely out of touch much. But the real question that you raise is if you would be for men and women's sports, if you would be for using taxpayer dollars to pay for transgender surgeries for Prisoners, which Harris was then what else would you do? And why would I trust your judgment on say, tax policy or health care or anything else if your judgment is so askew on an issue like that? And so these kinds of issues have worked to Trump's benefit. He's had good political instincts for that, and I think it continues to serve him today.
D
Was there anything that shocked you when you were conducting interviews for the book or doing research? Because you've been in politics a while, you're on cnn, I say you're an icon, you're a legend, you look too young to be a legend, but I mean it as a compliment. So was there anything that shocked you when you're writing the book?
B
Well, I did get to interview Elon Musk on the president's 101st day in office. I've been an Elon fan and I've been a defender. You know, on cnn, I hear everybody call Elon everything but a good milkhead now. And I've stood up for Elon. And what was Elon's great sin? He supported Trump and decided to serve his government for a short period of time. And for that they were attacking his company, firebombing, Tesla dealerships and so on. But when I went to interview him, I could tell he was bent out of shape a little bit with Washington at this point. He'd been doing the Doge effort for several months and he believes that Western civilization and the future of America is under threat from the fact that our currency is gonna be devalued because of our debt, mass migration crisis, low birth rates. He believes these converging things are really big ticket items and we're just not taking them seriously. And, you know, I could tell he was been out of shape with Washington. I don't, you know, I don't think he think he found anybody in Washington who shared his passion or urgency for these. I didn't know he was gonna break with Trump there for a short period a few days later, but I could tell he was a little bit out of shape. If you look at the book, book, he's got some eye popping quotes about these issues. But I was, I was honored to meet him and honored to interview him because I think he's really been one of the most fascinating figures, not just in our politics, but in our world for the last several years.
D
No, absolutely. That's one thing I love about President Trump. I feel like he's sort of the tip of the spear for Western civilization in general. You look at these other countries in Europe and even folks in Europe on TikTok and social media saying, well, can we have a little bit of that? The way he secured the southern border, I have friends in the UK who are going, oh, can we actually stop mass migration and illegal immigration? Is that something you respect? Respect about the President? And do you think candidates in the midterms are going to have to adopt some of those tough policies in order to win?
B
I do respect it about the President. And if you look at some of the things the administration is doing now, in our National Security memo that we just issued, the National Defense Policy Memo, they talk about civilization erasure in Europe because they've let this mass migration crisis get out of control. I mean, they're describing the future of the west being at stake because we cannot control mass migration. You have people coming into Western countries that have much different ideologies, that don't believe in democracy, they don't believe in free speech. And it's altering. It's warping the domestic politics of these countries in Europe. And it can happen here. It is happening here. I mean, we have let a lot of people into the United States who refuse to assimilate. Even at the President's rally in Pennsylvania, he started to talk about, look, if you want to come here, but you don't want to assimilate, you don't want to follow our laws, you don't want to speak our language, you don't want to be part of the American experiment, then we don't want you here. And I think that a lot of Americans are waking up to this idea that we're inviting people in who have fundamentally different views about what America should be. And we're inviting people onto college campuses who spend most of their time trying to foment the downfall of America or the downfall of the West.
D
Look, they're guests here.
B
They don't have to be here. And we don't have to invite people here who are fundamentally opposed to the American experience.
D
Chairman. Well, this is my thing, and I'm grateful to have a platform. I can stand 10 toes down on what I believe. And you definitely stand on what you believe every single night when you go on TV and on your tour. But people online, right, if they say they don't want mass migration, they don't want people flown in from Third World countries who hate us, who want to shoot us, who want to destroy us, as we just saw with the national guardsmen in Washington, D.C. you get called racist, xenophobic, bigoted, how dare you? It is not racist. Right. It's not racist. It's not bigoted. It's not xenophobic to want people to come to this country who actually respect our customs and norms and want to destroy that, destroy us. Have you run into that on your panel on cnn? You get called all types of names just because you want common sense, migration policies.
B
Yeah, it's a go to insult for the left if you, if you take what is a pretty mainstream view, which is, I don't want to have open borders. I don't want people to come here and break our laws with impunity. If you did break our laws, I want you to have to go back and get in line behind the people who are trying to immigrate here the right way. And these are mainstream common sense views. But you do hear those insults thrown out. But I have to tell you, my feeling and observation is it's working less and less. I think people are more and more tuning out this whole idea that if you say something in politics that I don't like and I immediately start calling you a racist, I think it says more about the person flinging that insult than it does the person who has a viewpoint on, say, immigration. I was on a CNN panel just the other night and we were arguing about, about something regarding the. The Epstein files. And, you know, this guy sitting next to me, you know, started accusing me of being a racist because I had the audacity to just engage in a debate with another person sitting at the table. Has nothing to do with race. We can debate each other and we can disagree. And I can have my views and you can have yours, but it doesn't mean anybody here is racist. It just means we have different viewpoints. I think the American people are sick of this kind of identity politics. They're sick of these attacks. You know, you're racist, you're a misogynist, you're a Nazi. You know, you hear this stuff all the time. And I don't know, it's. The more you cry wolf and the more you do that, the less effective it gets. And I think they wore out their welcome with this garbage.
D
No, absolutely. Speaking of identity politics, I have to ask you about Michelle Obama. So she's made some comments recently, right? Michelle Obama, she's on tour. Kamala Harris is on tour. I feel like Kamala Harris's book tour is longer than her actual campaign. I think everybody needs to get together and combine forces. But Michelle Obama, on her book tour, she said that basically America isn't ready for a woman president. She was like, y' all don't come ask me to run because you're clearly not ready. I feel like it has nothing to do with gender, skin color, everything to do with merit. Kamala Harris's loss, I want to get your take on this. Had nothing to do with her skin color, gender. It had to do with the fact that she had no accomplishments and she didn't instill confidence anytime she spoke.
B
Yeah, I hear excuses like this. And on the left, Left, when they lose a race, they're so emotional that they then have to invent things to assuage their emotional state. Go back to 2016. They lost to Trump. Hillary Clinton lost the race even though she did win the national popular vote. They had to invent a lie about Russia stealing the election. Kamala Harris in 2024 loses to Donald Trump. So they have to invent a narrative or a lie about why she lost the election. They never really take responsibility for their own bad ideas, their own lack of talent, you know, their own poor messaging. Whatever. Whatever you want to attribute the loss to, you could certainly pick it out, but it has nothing to do with identity. But on the left, they're obsessed with identity. You know, identity is everything. Identity means more than talent. Identity means more than work ethic. Identity means more than the laws. Identity means more really than anything. It's their go to insult, it's their go to explanation, and it's their go to criteria for everything that goes on in this world. I think most Americans don't agree with that, that most Americans believe in talent, hard work, and those kinds of things. Merit. But the radical left has infiltrated the Democratic Party, and they've turned them into an identity politics party. It really has held them back.
D
No, it's interesting because people on the left always say, you know, President Trump, or he's racist or he hates gay people or he hates this. I'm like, that could not be more antithetical to who. Who he actually is. I feel like he just wants merit. Tell me what you can do. Tell me what you can bring to the table. We don't care if you're black, white, Asian, man, woman, whatever. But I want to put a picture up on the screen and just stay on Michelle Obama for one minute, okay? Because our audience is very invested in this Michelle Obama. It seems like every time I open my phone, she's doing another photo shoot, okay? She's doing photo shoots for Vogue. She's doing all these avant garde things every single day. And each day there's a new clip of her complaining about how oppressed she is right. She complained she had to pay for food in the White House. She didn't get a fair shake. She can't stand her husband. She gets unfair press. Imagine being a conservative woman. Conservative women get so much hate. Look at our first lady, Melania Trump. She gets nothing but negative press, and she's reuniting children lost in the Ukraine war. Is this a double standard you've seen, especially being on your panel and touring the country?
B
Yeah. The only thing that rivals identity politics on the left is victim politics.
D
Everybody has to be a victim.
B
Michelle Obama, who sits, you know, who makes movies for Netflix, who's wealthier than any of us could possibly imagine, who gets to participate in a photo shoot every week, who got to be first lady of the United States, who has an unbelievable platform to say anything she wants, is here to let us know that she's a victim. And, boy, is she disappointed in us. That's the main political ideology of Michelle Obama. I am so disappointed in the United States of America and the people who live here all the time. That's what she's out talking about, and it's kind of ridiculous. You also see it with other politicians. I've noticed lately that Mark Kelly. Kelly, the senator from Arizona, he's giving, like, eight press conferences a day, and he starts them all by saying, I refuse to be silenced while standing in front of 100 microphones. You know, I don't think anybody's silencing you, but on the left, victimhood is currency. The more of a victim you are, the more currency you have on the left. And so you have to engage in identity politics. You have to be victimized somehow. And that. That is. That is their currency. Those are the credentials that you have to have. Have that's to be entered into the upper echelons of Democratic politics.
D
No, it's almost like you've seen our podcast before, because you are speaking our language, even when it comes to LGBT stuff. Right? People on the left, they're like, you're gay. How could you support the president? How you could. How could you support conservative values? And I'm like, I'm gay, not brain dead. Okay? Who even cares? It's like, I think these folks on the Left, like this LGBTQIA R2D2 brigade, they still want to play the victim and act like they didn't get gay marriage in 2015. They want to act like they don't have equal rights. And then when you press them, say, hey, what rights have you lost since January 20th when Trump took office? They can't name one, but they have to keep playing the victim card every single day, Scott. And it just drives me crazy. It drives me crazy.
B
Yeah. Scott Besant would be really surprised to hear that Donald Trump doesn't like gay people. I mean, Suzy Wiles would be really surprised to hear that Donald Trump doesn't like women. I mean, you look at the people he's elevated to the top of his administration, and he doesn't do it for identity reasons. He does it because they're the best person for the job. And so. But what. What. What has that meant? He's elevated all kinds of people who are doing right by our country, they're also doing right by the conservative movement. And they happen to be a woman in Susie's case, a gay person in Scott Besson's case. But that's not why they got the job. And that's the difference between the right and the left. Left, the right gives people jobs out of merit and talent, and the left gives people jobs out of identity. And then what happens? You wind up with, you know, less than talented people in. In pretty high positions.
D
No, the left wants to check boxes, whereas the right cares about merit. And that's how I ended up with Pete Buttigieg as Secretary of Transportation. And all he had done was fill potholes in South Bend, Indiana. Right. He had no track record with transportation, what so ever. But I want to talk about someone else, right, While we have you. I know you're a busy man. We got a few more minutes. I want to talk to you about Jasmine Crockett. Okay. I'm from Dallas, right? I talk to Jasmine Crockett constituents all the time. They don't hear from her. They see her on TikTok, you know, twerking down the hall, because she doesn't want to work, she wants to twerk. Now she is running for U.S. senate. Do you think, Scott, in all your infinite wisdom, that Jasmine Crockett has a prayer of winning in Texas?
B
She cannot win a general election, but can she win a Democratic primary? Yes, because that's what the base of the Democratic Party wants. Jasmine Crockett's the smartest Democrat in Congress. She's the one who's on TV the most. She's their leader. She is the face of the Democratic Party. She is going to beat Talarico in Texas. I think that's who all the establishment Democrat political operatives want. They want this guy. The Democratic base wants Cross Crockett. They want someone who portrays herself and their party in the way that she does on Cable. News 24 hours a day or the way that she does on social media. You know, the reason people in Dallas don't hear from Crockett is because they aren't her constituents. Her constituents are people on TikTok, people on Instagram, people in the newsrooms. Her constituents have nothing to do with the people she represents.
D
I mean, she.
B
She lives in this fantasy online world world. And she also lives in a world where you can say anything, whether it's true or not, and then deny everything you said, even though you did say it. It's very embarrassing. But for some reason, Democrats have embraced this communication style as their future. And so I actually think she's going to win that primary. I think she's going to get beat in the general election. But for Republicans, I think we ought to just be honest about it. Jasmine Crockett is the smartest Democrat, the leader of the Democrat, and that is basically the embodiment of their party platform right now.
D
No, absolutely. If there's someone who knows how to garner attention and views and eyeballs, it is Jasmine Crockett. She might be a caricature of herself. You look up old videos of Jasmine Crockett, she does not speak that way. You look at videos now, she's like this mofo crack a. Like a chucka. Like, she talks completely differently than she used to. But I do think she could win a Democratic primary. She'll harness these young people on TikTok. She'll harness these people who are disaffected, who maybe don't vote. But then I saw her campaign announcement, right? There was no energy. Everybody was sitting down in their chairs. There was no excitement. And she said on stage, she spoke about unity and addition and how she wants to unify and bring addition to the party and bring new people in. And I thought, does she have amnesia that up until an hour ago, she goes on TV and denigrates the way people look? She denigrates them for their policy. She has probably one of the dirtiest mouths in politics. And now she gets on stage and she's like, kumbaya, unity in addition. So it'll be interesting to see what happens. Scott, I don't know if you have any thoughts on that.
B
Yeah, well, she also was reminded of some comments she made about Hispanic voters, important for Texas, saying that the ones who were voting Republican had a slave mentality. And then she goes on CNN and Jake Tapper reads back to her a direct quote that was printed in Vanity Fair. And she says, that's. That's not what I said. And it's literally printed on the page. But she, you know, for Texas, insulting Hispanic voters in that way doesn't sound very unifying to me. And so I, look, I think there's a class of politician right now that basically just decides, I'm going to say whatever I have to say in this moment. And they feel no shame about denying anything they've ever said before, or at least they feel no responsibility to explain, you know, what they said before or why they may have changed their position. She's one of them. And it's about attention rather than consistency. There's really no substance here. But that look, this is the median Democrat, Jasmine Crockett, that Afton Bain, who they nominated in the Tennessee special election the other day. I mean, these people are performative only. And beyond that, they don't have much to offer.
D
No, that's what I'm saying. I feel like this campaign is more of an audition for Real Housewives or Bad Girls Club or reality show or a podcast. But she has no chance of winning. But she's going to elevate her profile and build a huge list. The last thing I want to talk to you about as it pertains to Jasmine, there's also a clip that's gone viral. Yes. She was on cnn. She said she doesn't need Trump voters to win. I thought that was a mistake the first day of your campaign. Right. She could have waited to say that. But there's also a clip that's gone viral where she says she's entertaining this idea of tax exemptions for black Americans. Right. As a form of reparations. Black people could be exempt from paying taxes. Isn't that kind of a form of reverse racism? I don't think that's going to be sold that well in Texas, too. And I know a thing or two about my people, Scott.
B
Yeah. Identity politics has now infected policy. We have identity policy. She's not the first Democrat to propose race based taxation. Mandani in New York was proposing to tax white people in certain neighborhoods during his campaign. And so you see this creeping idea, not only should we be hiring people based on race or identity markers, that we should be elevating them based on that, but we should be taxing them based on racial markers. This is, is a terrible idea. It's, of course, unconstitutional, illegal, or whatever you want to call it, but again, the reason they say these things out loud is because that's what the base of the Democratic Party wants to hear. They want policy based on identity, race, gender, you name it. And it's not fair, it's not legal, but it is the desired brand of a lot of Democratic based voters right now. So I think you're going to hear more of this. I know it sort of sounds shy, shocking in the moment to us. I think you're going to hear more. Democrats who are engaged in primaries in 26 and 28 have to say these sorts of ridiculous things or they're going to get left behind in their own party.
D
You know, I think they're going to get more and more brazen because they're going to get all that attention from their people online and they're going to think, oh, that matters. In the real world you might get a lot of attention for something on the Internet. It might not translate into real votes. But Jasmine Crockett, she can want all the woke And San Francisco, we want common sense. And so I'm so grateful that you came on. Good luck on your book tour. I love, love, love your book everybody. If you haven't gotten it yet, just Google Scott Jennings. A revolution of common sense. The last thing I do want to ask though, what was the President's reaction to the book? Because I know you went to the White House. Did he love the book? Did he sign the book? What's happening?
B
He was nice to cooperate with it and about halfway through I didn't know what to put on the COVID So I asked him, you know, what's the favorite picture of yourself from the first hundred days? And he sent me this photo, photo. So I put it on the COVID and when I went to deliver it to him in the White House, he saw it and he said this is the greatest cover of a book. So he was very happy with the COVID and, and thought it looked great and it was nice enough to sign it for me. So he cooperated. A lot of the Cabinet, Elon Musk, a lot of the White House senior staff had a lot of great conversations and observations of, of those folks. And you know, the first hundred days, I think link was really the most consequential executive branch activity since fdr. And he's got a painting of FDR actually up in the White House, which is interesting, but, but you think about all the issues they tackled, the executive orders, all the balls he put in the air and how many went through the hoop. It was a really fast paced consequential period. And I told him back in February, I think a hundred of the usual suspects will come along and write books crapping on you, but somebody who likes you and wants you to succeed should get a crack at writing a book about how this all went down. That was the effort and I think we've delivered it.
D
No, you definitely did. I love the COVID too. We use Daniel's pictures all the time on here because they're free. The chief White House photographer, so we love his pictures. I'm so happy with the COVID I'm happy with the book. We will hopefully have you come back on soon. Maybe I can come on your show and we can kick it. I know you know my friend Caroline Downey and some other people. So I'm excited to meet in person finally and have an amazing rest rest of your week. Thank you so much.

Guest: Scott Jennings (CNN political commentator, author)
In this episode, Link Lauren delivers his signature sharp and irreverent commentary on current political and cultural events, taking aim especially at Jasmine Crockett’s controversial Senate run, Kamala Harris’s self-aggrandizement, and recurring “victim/victimhood” narratives in Democratic politics. The conversation spotlights the 80/20 “common sense” political agenda, Trump’s coalition, the perils of identity politics, and Crockett’s campaign as both a cultural sideshow and cautionary tale.
