Link Lauren
My friends, welcome back to Spot on with Link. Lauren, I hope you're having an amazing day. We have a whole range of hot topics to get into. We have an incredible smart young journalist coming on the show later. Her name is Monica Page. She's with Turning Point. She's been covering the White House for years. But I wanted to start off this episode by talking about celebrity culture and influence, right? In the past 72 hours, we're all talking about Billie Eilish, all these losers at the Grammys. And I think more than ever, these celebrities in Hollywood are grappling with the fact nobody cares anymore, right? We saw this in 2016, we saw it in 2020, we saw it in 2024. These celebrities, every four years, they think their voices really matter, but they don't realize they're just patting themselves on the back. When I watched the Grammys, it was like a loser convention. A loser convention where they get up on stage, they had their little talking points about ice, and then they get in their cars and go back to their gated communities in their man. And that's how he felt watching Billie Eilish. But it's not just Billie Eilish, who I would say is down the totem pole, right? It's people at the top like Michelle Obama. Michelle Obama, she is more out of touch with working class Americans than almost anybody I know. And she's supposed to be the girl from the south side of Chicago, who pulled herself up by the bootstraps, right? She's supposed to be relatable. Michelle Obama. Nobody can relate to her. Even the women who used to love her in 2008, 2012, 2016, they're like, what happened? She complains about her hair, her makeup, how hard it was being first lady, the fact that she had to pay to fly on a private jet and pay for her own food. These people don't understand what the forgotten men and women of this country are going through. And so when I see someone like Billie Eilish at the Grammys saying, we're all living on stolen lands and we should just let illegal criminals into the country, it's rich coming from her because she lives in a Hollywood enclave in a $14 million mansion. So from the top down, it's Michelle Obama all the way down to Billie Eilish and then the influencers and the people who follow them. But these celebrities, nobody cares any more, right? Every celebrity, Every celebrity endorsed Kamala Harris. Do you guys remember that? Every. Every celebrity on earth came out and endorsed Kamala Harris. What was it? Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, Beyonce, Lizzo? I think Lizzo showed up because there was free food. But nonetheless, every celebrity came out and endorsed Kamala Harris. And guess what? She lost the popular vote in every single swing state in a landslide. Like, she lost and got her ass handed to her. And so these celebrities, I think they're grappling with their mortality in the industry. They believe that, oh, if they have 100 million followers, everybody's on the edge of their seats. A lot of those followers, I don't even think they're real, right? You guys couldn't get your followers to turn out to the polls. Nobody cared. And so for Billie Eilish, Bad Bunny, Lady Gaga, anybody who got up on stage at the Grammys, I think they look pathetic. They look absolutely pathetic. And it's also actors like George Clooney, right? George Clooney used to be beloved. But then you become so rich and so famous and you're in these elite circles, you lose that relationship with your audience, right? And so it's this catch 22, right? These celebrities, they get fame and fortune and they get homes in France and Italy and Europe and armed guards and everything, private jets. And then they lose. What made them so great and relatable in the first place, right? Even Billie Eilish, her whole thing was she was this girl who started singing in her room. Now she's living in mansions and she's preaching and virtue Signaling on stage, Meghan Markle, Megan Markle gave her the benefit of the doubt. She said she grew up over a garage and, you know, a bad neighborhood. And she's, you know, the American dream. She marries this prince. How quickly she's taken to the rich Montecito lifestyle. How quickly this girl has taken to the mansion. And she just wants to make, you know, crumpets and scones and rainbow platters and move pretzels from one bag to another and call herself the next Martha Stewart. So none of these people are relatable. But what's so sad, what's so tragic in almost a Shakespearean way, is that they don't see that their influence is gone. They can't see that their influence is gone. But every four years during an election, it becomes glaringly obvious. So I want to hear from you guys, too, before we jump into some other hot topics. Do you care about celebrities anymore? Are there celebrities you follow, like Jelly Roll? Jelly Roll got up on stage and he spoke about his faith in God and glory to God. That was incredible at the Grammys, right? Those are the people I think we should look up to. And you've also seen, post Charlie Kirk's assassination, so many young people turning to faith and family and conservative values. And you don't have to identify as a conservative, but they're people who are turning to a higher power. They're reading the Bible. Maybe they're trying to be more contem and meditative. They don't care so much about scrolling through, hey, what are the Kardashians doing? What is this celebrity doing? What is Billie Eilish wearing? And I think that level of influence that used to work even in marketing, you know, what are these celebrities wearing? Whether it's the sneakers or the shirt, are people going to buy it? Young people, I think young to old across the country don't care anymore. And so I want to hear from you guys. Are there any celebrities you look to that you look up to on television who you think are good role models? Because I'm scratching my head thinking, who is a good role model? I think the first lady, Melania Trump, is a great role model. She embodies the American dream. Won't hear a bad word out of her mouth. I can't think of anybody else. I can't think of anyone in Hollywood who's a good role model. I just, I'm not thinking, maybe it's someone on Yellowstone, maybe it's someone on Landman. I don't know. But I want to hear from you Guys. But let's dive in to some other hot topics now. Speaking of loser celebrities who are out of lock sales, up with the country. We have to talk about Halle Berry. Okay, Halle Berry is back in the news. Complaining, complaining, complaining. I like Halle Berry. I think she's a great award winning actress. I don't have any qualms with Halle Berry. I didn't think the Catwoman movie was her best. I didn't think Catwoman was great. I thought the 1992 with Catwoman and Jack Nicholson, I thought that was great. Okay, but this one I'm not that into. Okay, so Halle Berry, she's back in the news. She revealed that she was let down by the aftermath of becoming the first black woman to win the Academy Award for best actress in 2002. What a plight. I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry you had to win the Academy Award for best Actress. She said that Oscar didn't necessarily change the course of my career. After I won it, I thought there was going to be like a script truck showing up outside my front door. While I was wildly proud of it, I was still black that next morning. Yeah, that's kind of how biology works. Okay? I woke up this morning, I'm still white as Casper. Okay, I'm still white as snow. So I'm sorry, you woke up and you're not happy with the skin you were in. You just won an Oscar. You're worth probably hundreds of millions of dollars. We can maybe pull up her net worth. Halle Berry. Stop complaining. This is why you Hollywood celebrities have lost all influence. You're complaining that winning an Oscar, making millions of dollars a picture isn't enough because you still feel burdened by the color of your skin. And that's why I love my group of friends. Because we've got black, white, Asian, Hispanic people from all walks of life. And my group of friends, when we get together, we're not thinking about skin color. No one gives a rat's ass. We're thinking about merit and the content of your character and how we're aligned on our values. But to these folks in Hollywood, identity politics is their religion, okay? All they care about are checking boxes. They don't care about even making good films anymore, right? They sit around and they're like, okay, we need a non binary trans actor. We need a Pan African such and such. Okay, we need a Native American. We need. They try to get everything into a film and then the film ends up sucking. The film ends up being terrible. You know what I'm saying? And I've actually seen studies. There was a study I saw years ago in college. It was a bell curve. It's like this. So as you go up and you have a little bit of diversity in some different voices in the room, productivity increases. When you have too many voices and too many different people, it drops precipitously. So I think with Halle Berry and these celebrities in Hollywood, in the film industry, stop worrying about, okay, how many black people are going to put in a film. Hispanic people, this and that. Write good stories. Write a good story. Because a story about love, a story about heartbreak, a story about grief, a story about war. These are stories that have stood the test of time. These go back to Shakespeare. Nobody cared back then about, oh, what color is this? And what this? We don't need it. Okay? We do not need it. But Hollywood, because of DEI and ESG and probably their investors, and we can have that conversation later, they still feel like they need to check boxes. And it's why the film industry is crumbling, right? People are watching influencers on their phones. People are watching TikTok videos more than they're going out and watching movies. And so Halle Berry, it's a shame she could be such a role model for young women. But she's complaining that the color of her skin has been a hindrance, right? And it's always women like that. It's like Halle Berry, Michelle Obama. So many of these prominent women of color still find ways to complain that they are second class citizens and that they're mistreated. It's like, Michelle Obama, you were the first lady. You were the first lady of the United States. That wasn't good enough for you. She's like, I've still been mistreated for being a woman and a woman of color. No, you were the first lady. You were more beloved than anyone on earth at one point. What the hell are you talking about? And so I think it's sad that they go out there and they put this message to young girls that the color of your skin is somehow a hindrance and you need affirmative action to get ahead. No, you work hard, you show up, you do your job, and you will excel. Right? So let's move on. Well, first lady Melania Trump just keeps winning. This morning before we sat down, I saw a press release that first lady Melania Trump has secured $30 million for children who are in foster care. Now, I have supported Be Best, Take It Down, Fostering the Future, all of her initiatives for years. I remember back in the day, if we want to Go back in the vault. Years ago, she tried to put foster kids through college. The board of the schools would not take her money because she happened to be married to her husband. Right. You know, who suffered because of partisan politics and their biases. The children suffered. Right. She tried to put foster kids through college. They wouldn't take the money. And guess what? The kids suffered. You thought you were proving a point to Republicans, to President Trump. It's unclear. The kids were the ones who suffered. So I love that she is bringing it all back. She's pushing, pushing, pushing. She continued it in the downtime between the first term and now. And I think the foster care system is something we don't talk about enough. Right. Because kids don't choose to be in the foster care system. Right. I hate when kids suffer because of the decisions of adults. Right. Or systems created by adults. And so what comes through all the time about first Lady Melanie Trump? She loves children. She loves her own son, she loves her own family, but she loves the kids of this country. You guys know I went to Camp Lejeune, North Carolina and covered her there. Literally. The kids were beaming, so happy to see her. She gave all of them her full and undivided attention. And so I'm so happy that she has secured this money to help these students and these young folks who are in foster care. And we talk about this often on the show and I've spoken about the foster care system on other shows before, and so this really warmed my heart. I want to read you guys the specifics really quickly because as a journalist, we have to do that. So first lady Melania Trump has secured 30 million to support Foster youth aging out of the system, delivering resources that advance independence, stability and well being. The program aims to create educational, employment and mentorship pathways for youth aging out of foster care through public private partnerships, technology scholarships and federal resource allocation. This is incredible. I love this one thing about first lady Melania Trump. They say, oh, she has this film out and it's glamorous and it's glossy and it's cinematic. She's got this film in theaters. She's meeting with an Israeli hostage who was freed. She's securing money to get kids out of foster care and to get them a head start in life so she can walk and chew gum at the same time. And unlike former first ladies, what I find so interesting about first lady Melania Trump, she literally does not care about fanfare or applause. I mean, when I saw the first lady, I was like, I love you. I love the film. You're incredible. You're amazing. But she doesn't need me to tell her that, right? She doesn't need to kiss her ass and tell her how amazing she is. She does these things not for applause, but because she cares about young people. And I feel like what comes through all the time from Melania to me, and I'm trying to call her Melania with the film, I want to call her Mrs. Trump, first lady. What comes through all the time is the love she has for our country. I think she understands. She came to this country, she got her visa, her green card, she became a citizen. This country has given her so much and she gives so much to us. And I think that's such a lesson. She loves America. She loves being in America. She takes the role of first lady very, very seriously. And I've said this before, former first ladies, they would really not get much done, right? They might plant a garden, they might go on the Ellen show and do some push ups and some herkies and call it a day. I think they might go film with Big Bird on Sesame Street. Remember that? Maybe we can find a picture. But First Lady Melania Trump, she's like, I'm getting these kids out of foster care. I'm tackling revenge porn, non consensual imagery. I'm, you know, bringing children home who are lost in war. I'm meeting with hostages. I just can't think of a former first lady in decades and decades who has cared that much about the country. Right. Like, this is like a Jackie Onassis level of iconography coming from First Lady Melania Trump. So y' all know I love her. That goes without saying. And I'm excited to see what she does with these funds that she has secured. And I think we can talk more also about adoption and how we amplify that as well. And I've gotten questions a lot, right. I was asked on a very, very big podcast one time, hey, what do you think about gay adoption? And I said, you know, I understand some folks, because of their religious beliefs or upbringing or background, they're against gay couples adopting. I personally think, right, if a kid's being bounced around the foster care system and you have a stable gay couple with income who has been heavily vetted, like every other, you know, person should be vetted, who's going to adopt. I think the kid is much better off in that household where they can get an education and go to college rather than bounce around a foster care system that is flawed and in need of overhaul. So I'VE always been a big proponent of adoption. I think there's so many kids who need homes. I think a lot of these celebrities who want to talk about ICE and immigration, maybe they could adopt some of the kids here in our own country. I also see celebrities like Angelina Jolie and Madonna. They'll go and adopt kids from every other country. What about the American kids who need homes? What about the American kids who are in the foster care system and need a little bit of love in tlc? So we've got to move on to some other topics, but shout out to first lady Melania Trump, Mark Beckman, her entire team, and the Eastween. Like, everybody just works together so well and they execute and they're very mission driven and mission oriented this time around. And, and it seems like there's a lot more support for the first lady because everybody realized what we've known for years, that she's a boss and an icon and she gets things done quietly. So shout out to her. But let's move on to some other topics. It's a new year, but we've got the same broken system. Banks keep winning while your credit card balances climb. Enough. Harry and Megan are desperate to revamp their image. There are these stories that are coming out that apparently they wanted Netflix to help revamp their image. They thought, well, Netflix has this huge PR machine. We're getting obliterated in the press, especially with her father, right? Her father is over in a hospital in, like Timbuktu or where was he? In the Philippines. He's over in the Philippines getting his leg amputated and she's like eating crumpets and scones at the mansion in Montecito.
Monica Paige
Right?
Link Lauren
So they wanted Netflix to rehabilitate their image, apparently. But what about all the staff and the PR folks that they've hired. The thing is, she can't keep a staff. I think she's on her 11th or 12th publicist or communications director. I mean, she's an utter calamity. And I think Netflix, right, Harry and Meghan come in close. Netflix has done with y'. All. Netflix is had it with y'.
Odoo and Expedia Advertiser
All.
Link Lauren
Every project has flopped, and every project's been terrible. Netflix is not jumping through hoops for you guys anymore. They don't care. They're done. Like Harry and Meghan, you know, in a relationship, when it's over one, there's always that one person who maybe isn't coming to terms with the fact that it's over. It's like, wait, what? It's over? I have to move out. Harry and Meghan, that's what they are, right? They can't see the fact it's over. Netflix is just not that into you. Hashtag, he's just not that into you anymore, baby. So Harry and Meghan, you guys can maybe go to Hulu. You can go to OnlyFans. You can go to TikTok. You can try something, right? Go try something. But Netflix has done with you guys so much. So a story leaked. And you guys know, where there's smoke, there's fire. A story leaked that at Netflix, they're practically giving away her jams and jellies because nobody wants them. Now, Netflix has now put out a statement right before we filmed, allegedly saying that those were for promotional use and that staff was allowed to take them home and they were for gifting and sampling. But no story ends up in Page Six about her unsold products unless someone is leaking and putting that out there. So Page Six learned that jars of jams, candles, wine, and Meghan's flower petals are being kept in storage rooms at the Netflix headquarters. Apparently, there are two storage rooms packed with, as ever, products. They're literally just giving it away to employees. One walked out with 10 products for free. There's so much overstock now. You guys know I did a full taste test of all her products. The candle didn't have a freaking wick. I don't know how you mess that up. You know what I'm saying? It's like doing a pool without water. I don't know how you miss the wick, sweetheart, but I do think, honestly, if I could give the military some advice, I'm someone who thinks if you have to do waterboarding and torture every once in a while, like, let's not be so precious. And clutch our pearls. Let's get it done. I think Meghan Markle's jams and jellies would be good for torture. Like if you're trying to get information out of someone, force them to eat one bite of her marmalade. Force them to eat her raspberry jam or strawberry jam. They will sing like a songbird. Okay, if we have to get some information out of a terrorist or we have to go in and snatch someone up, make them eat one bite. It's over. It's over. Now this last clip I want to play really quickly. Nicki Minaj was on Katie Miller's podcast and even she thought maybe Harry should go home. Maybe it's enough of California.
Monica Paige
Let's look your take on Harry and Meghan then.
Commercial Narrator
Well, I think he should go home like E.T.
Link Lauren
He should go phone home and then go home. I did not think he should have aired the family's dirty laundry, but that's just me, darling. I could not agree with Nicki Minaj more. As you guys know, I love Nicki. When I met her, of course was taking selfies. She follows me on X. Nicki, you know I love you. I've been a fan since day one, okay? I was probably listening to your music when I was way too young. But like Nicki Minaj, I have such reverence for the royal family. You guys know there's no one who loves the royals more than me. President Trump, the royals, Nicki Minaj, this is my trifecta. I agree, Prince Harry, it might be time to come home, come back to center. But I don't think the folks in UK want him to come home because he is crap on them. He says he can't even go to the uk. It's not safe for him. He accuses his family of racism with his wife and oh, they talked about my kids skin color and my family did this and that. How can you go back after trashing them in the press? I get blood is thicker than water. But the monarchy moved on. William and Catherine kept working. I don't think Harry should go back. I think he should rethink his relationship. I think Harry needs the love of a good old fashioned woman. You know what I'm saying? I think Harry needs a girl to come in there and get his life together because he seems to be crumbling. In my opinion. Their projects are flopping. They're all the stories about the psychedelics and how he's basically kind of numbing himself, which I don't blame him. If he had to be in the house with her all day and Doria, her mother. I don't blame you, you know, Ms. Ragland sewing her yoga mats. But anyway, Harry, I would say rethink the relationship, but then again, they might be madly in love. Right? Different strokes for different folks. They could be madly in love. I mean, I have some friends, I can't stand their boyfriends, husbands, girlfriends or wives. But we're like, hey, let's get together for dinner. So maybe they're madly in love. Maybe they're having like knock down amazing sex. Maybe they're swinging from the rafters. I don't know. But I do think, Harry, it might be time to reassess career personal now that you've been out of the royal family for six years. Like take stock of your life. And I think that's what Nicki Minaj was getting at. Masa chips are made with just three real organic corn, sea salt and 100% grass fed beef tallow. No seed oils, no filler, no mystery chemicals, just seriously good tasting food. Unlike regular chips, Masa leaves you feeling satisfied and energized, not bloated or sluggish. You guys, I could not be more excited to have this next guest. I've watched her from afar for a while. She is the Turning Point USA White House correspondent. Her name is Monica Paige. She's also expecting a baby with her incredible husband Daniel. He and her interviewed the president recently. So they're this like up and coming, cool conservative journalist power couple in D.C. so, Monica, congratulations to you and you're going family. And thank you for being here. Thank you for being here.
Monica Paige
Thank you so much. Thank you so, so much for having me. I'm a huge fan of yours as well. So we're gonna have a lot of fun.
Link Lauren
And you are expecting, right? I'm not. You are expecting a child. Yes. Okay.
Monica Paige
It's a baby boy.
Link Lauren
Yes. My worst fear is saying congratulations and then you are not expecting. Right? Okay.
Monica Paige
It's terrible.
Link Lauren
But no. I love you guys. You guys are amazing. And you are Mar to Daniel, correct? Yes.
Monica Paige
Yes.
Link Lauren
Okay, good. Look at you.
Commercial Narrator
Got it.
Monica Paige
All right.
Link Lauren
Okay. So all my watching from afar gave. Correct. But I do love you guys. I think he's like, when he interviewed President Trump recently, it was so good. Like, all his questions were so good. And you can tell when POTUS loves the questions because they're not his same old boring questions. So I loved it. I wanted to start off, though, we have to talk about Billie Eilish. Now, I said last night, I don't think she's in Mensa. I don't think she can spell the word mom backwards. I don't think she's the smartest person. She went on stage at the Grammys and she said that we're all illegal living on stolen land. And then the Tongva tribe put out a statement saying, yeah, you're living on our ancestral land and we want it back. And so she has not put out a statement. Do you think Billie Eilish, if it's proven she's living on their land, she should have to evacuate and give them the home? Monica.
Monica Paige
I mean, it's only fair, Link. I mean, this is what happens. I mean, if you're going to practice what you preach, you better be ready for when they start coming at you and say, listen, you know, if you're going to play by your rules, because it's so funny how the rules change at the gates of her estate. It's so interesting how they try to make up the rules. Something's cultural appropriation, so you can't do it But I can do it because it's cultural appropriation, it's historical when I do it. It's not stolen land when I do it. But when you do it, Link, you are the bad guy. You are the common people and you need to listen to us. So of course she should be handing it over. And you know who else should too? Hailey Bieber and whoever else had the ice out pins were also found to be on stolen land. Got you got to practice what you preach.
Link Lauren
Well, I was saying, let's say I think I'm like probably on stolen lands right now filming this. Like if you want to get like everybody, we're all on lands that's like all have an adult conversation here. But it's always the rules for the. Not for me, right, you guys, you have to let all these illegals and criminals run through your neighborhoods. But then we're going to live behind gates with armed guards, security. Like you had to show an ID to go into the Grammys, right? But we're supposed to just let people into the country willy nilly. Do you think sort of this hypocrisy is why these celebrities like Billie Eilish are losing influence? Because they're just full of crap. Nobody cares anymore.
Monica Paige
They're losing influence, they're losing credibility. We need more of this calling out this hypocrisy because you know, recently I think Senator Ted Cruz, he said it best. He said, you know, seeing these celebrities leaping to their feet so quick to celebrate this pandering, that America is fundamentally illegitimate. I mean, it conveys to the everyday American people that these celebrities are so tone deaf, the entertainment world is so deeply corrupt and that the corruption is so deeply rooted in, in these people who just who put out music and they think everybody's going to love it. You know, you see Bad Bunny, Billie Eilish, they're not even that great of a musician, to be honest with you. And. And now we have to all of a sudden start listening to them because why? Because they make a lot of money, because they're in the spotlight a lot. You know, I lose trust in the American people sometimes when they listen to these celebrities because they don't have a mind of their own. You know, whatever happened to free thinking and common sense? And that kind of like gets me a little rattled when I see things like this and people are celebrating what these celebrities say. At the end of the day, you know, we need to be calling out more of this hypocrisy.

No, what's interesting is I feel like these Celebrities don't realize, though, they're just speaking to such a small, select group of people, like, I would say, 10, 20 years ago. Right. And I even took this, like, branding class one time. If a celebrity wore a pair of sneakers or a shirt or something, people would want to run out and buy it. I don't even think that's the case anymore. I feel like young people are more interested in faith, family, conservative values. They're finding interest in other things and finding meaning in other things. And these celebrities, that's just not cutting it anymore. Have you seen that trend as well in the past year or two with people turning to faith and things that matter way more than what sneakers a celebrity is wearing?
Monica Paige
Absolutely. I think this cultural shift is one that I think will be pretty historical and go down for the ages, I think, because when you see what this White House is doing, when you're seeing what this administration is doing, when you're making safety of our country and when you're making, you know, being financially responsible cool again, and not just something that, like, old white men are celebrating, you know, they make it for everybody. And I think that that says something. And they make it so that young people can get invol. And now young people are now part of the conversation that they may have felt left out of for previous years and put into ways that they can understand. That's how I got into politics back in 2016, was that President Trump put things the world around me in a way that I could understand. I feel like many young people are hopping on board to this, and we're gonna see more of this cultural shift saying, okay, faith is cool, Safety and security of my country is cool, and being financially responsible is cool. And I'm really excited to see more of this shift, especially as we head into midterms. Link.
Link Lauren
No, I think also what's interesting is we're seeing how successful the Melania film is. And it's like, could that be a little canary in the coal mine or a smoke signal for the midterms? Because they said, oh, this movie is going to do $1 million, $5 million, now it's blowing that away. Could be 10 million by the time people watch this. I think folks will turn out in the midterms because these issues have really galvanized them. And I don't think the celebrities understand. We wanted a secure border. Right. 60% of Americans in a New York Times poll supported mass deportations of criminals. Right. It's hard to get 60% of Americans degree on anything in a New York Times poll. And so I don't think these celebrities have their finger on the pulse. None of them. None of them said anything about Jocelyn and Gari Lake and Riley. I mean, I still remember where I was. I was in San Francisco on a work trip. I think it was like, February of 24. And I saw the news about Lake and Riley. I just sat down on the bed. Like, did any of these celebrities say anything? Were they moved over that? No, because they live in their elite little bubbles. Are there any celebrities that you can even think of in Hollywood and culture? Maybe it's someone from Yellowstone or Landman, something who speaks to people. I thought Jelly Roll the other night, his speech was good. But is there anyone out there that you even care to follow?
Monica Paige
I mean, at this point, I've always been a huge fan of Nicki Minaj. She is my queen now. She's the only one that I could think of in recent times who has been brave enough to speak out about any of this. But unfortunately, all of the celebrities maybe we've grown to know and love, they've been blacklisted. You know, when you see Dean Cain from Superman, you see Alex Sorbo, they're kind of, you know, dying out in the mainstream because they speak out about, you know, their values and the things that mean the most to them and things that people should be caring about. But unfortunately, the people that we really should be hearing from are not mainstream. So I'm definitely very excited to see, you know, who else could be brave enough to step up?
Link Lauren
Sylvester Stallone, maybe?
Monica Paige
Yeah, maybe.
Link Lauren
No, I love him. And, you know, Nicki Minaj, love her. So there are folks out there. But I just think young people in general don't care that much about celebrity culture. And it's also, like you were saying, these folks, just because you can sing and dance. Yeah. You're in entertainment because you're not that bright and you're not that smart. Like, that's why you went into singing and dancing. You know what I'm saying? But we got to move on to some other things. Okay, this story I found really interesting. So CNN admits that Americans back Nicki Minaj's call for voter ID law. So they admit that 83. 83% of Americans back Nikki's call for nationwide voter ID laws. That includes a whopping 71% of Democrats. Let's show the clip real quick.
CNN Poll Analyst
Photo ID to vote. And the American people are with Nicki Minaj because what are we talking about here? So take a look here. Favor voter ID to vote. Look, I got all this polling on the screen going back since 2018. You'll notice on all of it, it's all north of 75%, 76%, 76%, 76%, 76%, 81%. And then 83% in the last year of Americans agree with Nicki Minaj. They favor photo ID to be able to vote.
Link Lauren
What about bipartisan? What's the party breakdown?
CNN Poll Analyst
Yeah, normally you might expect, hey, there'd be a big divide by party with Republicans really for it and Democrats really against it. But not really here. I mean, just take a look here. Favorite photo ID to vote. You got 95% of Republicans, pretty much all of them, but even 71% of Democrats.
Link Lauren
Okay, Monica, two questions. Are we shocked? Number one. Number two, you have covered politics for years. You've been on the front lines, pun intended. Explain in your eyes for the person who may not know, person who's just tuning in, why voter ID is so crucial for election integrity. As someone who's covered this for years.
Monica Paige
Yeah, it's everything. I mean, it's common sense. Voter ID laws are common sense laws. This is what we do as adult Americans who do their due diligence to vote every four years or so. You need an ID to fly. You need an ID to buy alcohol, cash a check, pick up medicine. You need one. You should need one to pick the people that run this country. And it's so funny to see Democrats that have been pressing and pushing this narrative that voter ID is suppressive and it's racist, but that all dies. Because it's never really been about suppression for the Democrats. It's been about getting illegal aliens to vote. That's what it has been for them. I mean, Senator Chuck Schumer said it out, the quiet part out loud recently that it's about granting citizenship to all illegals. Excuse me, undocumented citizens is what he calls them. This is what their agenda has been. It's clear as day. And voter ID is common sense. And I'm so happy to see some celebrities like Nicki Minaj speaking out about this and saying, listen, like, where have we turned so wrong when it comes on this argument, when it comes to this argument, because it's just. It's common sense. You're a US Citizen. Prove it. I'm going to vote for the leader of this country.
Link Lauren
Right. Like, if you can't get your ass to a DMV or get a driver's license or some type of identification, a passport, Sorry, I don't really think we need you voting. Right. If you don't have the energy and you don't care enough to do that. I don't really think we need your vote in any election, but I'm happy to see Nicki Minaj calling it out. And I remember, was it Kamala Harris or Sunny Hostin years ago, maybe both of them, who said that folks in urban areas or rural areas didn't have access to copiers and printers and that's why they couldn't get IDs. Do you kind of remember that story?
Monica Paige
I totally remember that.
Link Lauren
Can't get to a copy machine. And so it's always this like, we're looking down on people or we need affirmative action or we need this. Just get a license, get an ID to vote. You have to show an ID to fly. You have to show it to get into the Grammys. Billie Eilish. So you're gonna have to show ID to vote. And I love, I love when CNN does these polls and their audience just has egg on their face. Like they did this poll recently. Yeah, I am so happy that CNN's audience has to realize that we want voter ID laws. Do you think that the midterms are going to be free and fair and everything's going to be good? Because I really felt like this last election, maybe it was a little bit of Elon, maybe it was a little bit of Turning Point is a little bit of the campaign, the rnc, everybody worked together so beautifully. I felt like we had election integrity in 24. Are you optimistic about 26 and 2028?
Monica Paige
That's such a good question. Because while I am not too optimistic after seeing the results of the Virginia election, the New Jersey election, the New York City election, I wasn't too thrilled about that. I am feeling a little bit positive about what the White House is going to do leading up to midterms as far as its messaging goes. I think we can't forget the plot. We can't forget what's happening here. We can't forget about the beautiful American women and girls that have been killed at the hands of illegal immigrants. We can't forget that Charlie Kirk was killed by this radical leftist. We can't forget about the church shootings, the Catholic church shootings that we've seen. We can't forget about those radical left protests that have been happening in Minneapolis and the shooting of ICE agents, et cetera, and the violence against them. We cannot be forgetting about this kinds of stuff. And what I also will say about voter ID is that, I think, you know, based on what I've seen on social media and some of the commentary by just so many uninformed Americans that I think we need to pass, I mean, some kind of test somebody Americans can take to make sure that you know what you're talking about because there are people who can vote who still don't know who the first president of the United States was. And, and it's very alarming to see that on social media, by the way.
Link Lauren
But I think the vague Vivek Ramaswamy was one who was always pushing for that. I'm sorry to interrupt. You continue.
Monica Paige
No, you're totally. No, it's totally true. Because you know, when you see maybe even the way that our schools have been really downgraded over the last couple years and the quality of our schools and the quality of our children's education, I think that that's also speaks volumes as to why maybe our nation is so uninformed and commenting on things that it's really, I guess I don't even know what the right word to say is. It's not accurate. Some of the things that they believe in and they're not listening to what's happened with the facts are to listen to the mainstream media. And I think we need to get a hold of that. But I'm feeling a little bit in the middle here. I'm leaning more towards optimistic.
Link Lauren
Yeah. So we'll see what happens the next few months. I think Republicans, they need to run on most favored nations drug pricing, how they secured the border. And I think they need to tell a little more of that story of hey guys, I know the news cycle moves on and we forget very quickly because we have busy lives. Things were really bad. So when people complain and say, President Trump, why aren't you doing this? Or why isn't this? It's like I feel like we've done a 180. There are no illegals coming over the border now. It is secure. So that to me is something I think Republicans down the ballot really need to drive home the accomplishments. Did you know that high blood pressure is the number one risk factor for mortality? We have to talk about Nancy Guthrie, Savannah Guthrie's mother who has gone missing. This pierced me in the heart. My audience knows my mom is my best friend. I love my mom to pieces. So when I saw this story I just, I don't know. It broke my heart. I want to read you a little bit of the information we have so far. Obviously by the time people watch this, there could be updates, but her mother was 84 years old. She was last seen in Tucson at her residence at about 9:30pm on Saturday, according to the Pima County Sheriff's Department. So while officials did not immediately elaborate on the circumstances, they have now labeled it as A kidnapping or abduction, which is crazy. So her disappearance was first reported Sunday morning after a friend from her church noticed she was not at service and called one of her adult children. Now, an alleged ransom note for Savannah Guthrie's missing mother was sent to media outlets on Tuesday, with the supposed kidnappers demanding millions of dollars in bitcoin for her safe return. So we don't know that much. For me, as someone who has studied crimes and these sort of investigations, I almost feel like. Like it's someone that the family knows. Like, I would not be shocked with the Nancy Guthrie situation if it's someone somehow connected to the family. Who knew. Okay, where's the camera? What does the house look like? How can I get in? It also just seems bizarre to kidnap an older woman. And I feel like if you're gonna kidnap a celebrity to get money out of them, you would have gone for someone bigger. It just feels like maybe there's some family connection. What are your thoughts with the information we have so far?
Monica Paige
Yeah, you know, it's such a. It's such a touchy subject because, you know, there are still so many facts that we don't know yet about this. Right. So to. To see somebody like you just mentioned, Savannah Guthrie, who isn't, like, you know, on the red carpets at the grammys every five seconds or doing, you know, oscars and stuff like that, like. Like you just mentioned, it leads me to believe that it could be a family member. And I think that there are rumors circulating online that it could be, like, the son in law and son in law's wife as well. And it'. It's very strange. And the timing as well, is also very suspicious, too. Like, why now? Why did they find that now would be the right time to do something like this? And seeing some of the images that have been coming out, I'm a little concerned because, like you just said, if it were my mother, I'd be furious. I'd be scared. I'd be demanding answers. And of course, we saw. You know, I don't know if those images are legitimate, but there may have been blood on the scene as well. That makes me even more concerned. I think the cameras were blown out as well. So there's a lot of. This seems to be calculated. It seems to have been really thought out. Somebody knows the house, like you mentioned, because of the camera situation. But I'm really praying and hoping that everything comes back okay. The mother is okay. We all could do right now as. As everyday.
Link Lauren
People are just praying for me, though. It's like, the limbo period is what would be giving me so much anxiety. Right. And this sounds horrible, but if. If you knew the mom was deceased, like, let's say she was murdered. There's a way to have closure. When someone goes missing or someone's abducted, there's just no closure. I know we're only a few days in, you guys. I'm trying to be optimistic. I do think there could be a miracle where she is returned home. But I. I am leaning toward the inside job of it all right now. I could change in 24 hours. But if you're going to kidnap a celebrity's mother, you might do Billie Eilish. You could do Kris Jenner. Like I, you know, you would go for someone maybe who was bigger, but they. They got this woman in Tucson, and so the whole situation is bizarre, but we're praying for her. The last topic I want to touch on before we have to let you go, I know you have very important things to do. We have to talk about Scouts of America. Okay. Scouts of America. Anybody knows? Pete Hegseth is one of my favorite cabinet members because during the confirmation, even conservatives, Republicans were counting him out behind the scenes. He pulled through the con, the confirmation, and it's been one of the most powerful members of the cabinet. Like, look at Operation Midnight Hammer. Look at the Maduro operation, everything. I mean, Hegseth time and time again shows how much respect he has for our war fighters, our men and women in uniform, and also rolling back dei. Okay? And I say this as a gay man. I don't want to. I don't even want to see people who look like me fighting on the front lines, okay? I wouldn't trust that. You know what I'm saying? I want people who know what they're doing. And so the Department of War is moving to overhaul its partnership with Scouting America, saying the organization must return to its core values and eliminate DEI policies to remain eligible for federal support. I'm not even sure why we give the Boy Scouts federal support. The assistant to the Secretary of War, Sean Parnell, who I love, referenced an executive order that President Trump signed at the start of his second term that focused on terminating radical DEI preferencing and federal contracting, adding that all organizations affiliated with the department must. Must meet the standards. So, Monica, I imagine what your answer will be. Are you happy to see we're rolling back DEI in the military? And what are your thoughts so far on the Department of War and how it's going?
Monica Paige
Oh, absolutely. I mean, this Department of War has been fantastic. In every sense of it. I mean, seeing the Department of War secretary, Pete Hegseth, going on all these trips, and during these trips that he goes on, he makes sure to do other, like, off the record stops. Like when I was on the trip with him to do SpaceX and Lockheed Martin, he stopped at one of the Navy recruits celebration, I guess you could say, or enlistment, and actually took the time to help initiate these nine new Navy recruits into the, into our Navy. And it was absolutely beautiful to see him take the time out. He cares about the everyday people and so does this Department of War. So I'm very, very excited to see what the future is going to be and really put safety and the American lives at the forefront of their mission every single day.
Link Lauren
Absolutely. I think there was this narrative the left tried to push, this narrative of Pete Hexseth that was so antithetical to who he was. And now people see exactly what he's made of, the respect he has for the men and women in uniform, the sacrifices they're making, the families who are sending them out there, Right. And so I think, as America, I'm happy we're prioritizing our fighting force. We've seen how nobody can come close to what we can do. Okay, Maduro, they went and snatched him up at like 3am he didn't even know it was coming. So I really love what Pete Hegseth has done and Dan Cain, everybody is doing such an incredible job. And I'll also say when I saw the Delta Forces, right, the pictures of the guys who went and snatched Maduro, that's who I want defending our country, Right. I don't want the Rachel Levine's of the World or the Sam Brinton's of the World or the people we saw the last four years. And it doesn't make me a jerk. It doesn't make me a jerk to say, hey, I don't want folks who can't decide on their gender or who are wearing acrylic nails or who are on cross sex hormones and confused. I don't want those folks carrying guns, carrying weapons, securing our country. This has to be about merit. And so the last question for you is, don't you feel like bringing merit back to the forefront is one of the main things we've seen in the first year of the Trump administration. No more DEI identity politics. It's merit all the way, Monica.
Monica Paige
Absolutely. And to your point about, you know, maybe I don't want to see men in dresses and men, you know, with makeup and acrylic Nails. I don't want to see men like Lloyd Austin who leave their posts for how many weeks because he was at the hospital and nobody knew about it. I don't want to see any of that. And I think merit starts at the root, which is exactly what this Department of War is doing with the Boy Scouts. Boy Scouts heavily focus on camping, hiking, outdoor merit badges, Girl Scouts, we know they offered a broad range of activities like stem, entrepreneurship, community service. But when you take a look at the crux of it, they both aim to develop character and leadership. And this is what we have now in our Department of War. Real leaders and real, real people who have, who uphold that moral character that we've been missing out on over the last four years in their own ways. So I'm pleasantly surprised to see, and I'm really excited to see what else is to come for the Department of War because I think they've got a lot of great things that they're working on at the Pentagon.
Link Lauren
Absolutely. And the way they're incorporating new media and just I think everything at the Department of War is going so, so, so great. So shout out to everybody at the Pentagon, we love you. Keep killing it. Well, no pun intended, but keep doing your thing. Keep killing it out there, the Department of War. But Monica, you're awesome. I hope people go and follow you.
