Hi, I'm Joe Kernan, co host of Squawkbox with Becky Quick and Andrew Ross Sorkin. And this is five things to know before the opening bell. Some major websites coming back online. Finally, following an overnight outage from Amazon Web Services, AWS disrupted sites included Perplexity, Snapchat, Disney plus, Coinbase and Robinhood. And Apple. News on Apple the latest generation of iPhones outsold the previous model by 14% in its first 10 on sale in the US and China. That's according to a Bloomberg report citing data from Counterpoint Point Research. China is accusing the US of a hacking campaign aimed at the country's National Time Center. China's State Security Ministry said it found evidence of infiltration from as far back as 2022. And finally, shares of medical device maker Hologic are higher. Reports say that Blackstone and TPG are in advanced talks to acquire the company. We're also watching the shares of Tesla proxy adviser ISS recommending investors vote against the pay plan for CEO Elon Musk that would grant him nearly $1 trillion more in stock if the company hits aggressive targets. In a post on X, which is owned by Musk, Tesla accused ISS of missing fundamental points of investing in governance. And I saw a flippant Elon Musk post that said, I really don't like this. Isis is sort of stuck in a next iss. Yeah, instead of iss. Andrew, you had. Remember the pen you had? I hope you still had it because I've given you SWOC Planner. Now I'm giving you five things to I saw you.

I'm taking notes, I'm taking notes. It's feverish. Anything you say, Joe. As you know, I just sit with my pen and I take the notes right, as most viewers should. As most viewers every morning should be sitting, waking up in the morning, getting their pen and paper out and taking the notes.
C
Literally tens of dozens of people out there are probably doing that.
D
Maybe less.

Andrew Ross Sorkin, playing along:
"I’m taking notes, I’m taking notes. It’s feverish. Anything you say, Joe. As you know, I just sit with my pen and I take the notes. Right, as most viewers should. As most viewers every morning should be sitting, waking up in the morning, getting their pen and paper out and taking the notes."

Joe Kernen, with classic sarcasm:
"Literally tens of dozens of people out there are probably doing that."
[03:12]
Andrew Ross Sorkin, undercutting the joke:
"Maybe less."

This episode gives listeners a rapid-fire, context-rich overview of the must-know headlines to start the trading day right.
