Hi, I'm Becky Quick, co host of Squawk Box with Andrew Ross Sorkin and Joe Kernan. And this is five things to know before the opening bell. Gold and silver prices are relatively stable at the moment, but silver was much lower earlier today, and both those metals are coming off a Friday performance that amounted to their worst day since 1980. Oil prices are pulling back. Over the weekend, President Trump told reporters that Iran, in his words, was seriously talking with the United States. A lot of questions about what that means, but WTI this morning is down by about five and a quarter percent, 6178 and President Trump picking longtime government economist Brett Matsumoto to lead the Bureau of Labor Statistics. President Trump fired the BLS commissioner in August. President Trump also says that the Kennedy center should close for two years for renovations starting in July. Trump said that the proposal was subject to the approval of the center's board, although the president has picked many of those board members himself. And the new Amazon documentary Melania, about first lady Melania Trump, debuting with a better than expected $7 million at the box office this weekend.

E
And just the nuance on the fourth viewing, it's like, oh my God, I didn't know this.
