As we embark on another season of college basketball where every school’s goal is to hear their name called on selection Sunday in March, the game of college basketball and college athletics for that matter has changed tremendously. In June 2021, the Supreme Court unanimously ruled in NCAA v. Alston that the NCAA was not legally allowed to limit any education-related payments to students. NIL, as commonly known which refers to Name, Image and Likeness refers to college athletes’ ability to profit off themselves which the NCAA previously didn't allow. Players can accept money from businesses in exchange for using them in products or advertisements and can also promote themselves or other companies in public appearances.College basketball players, like all other student-athletes, previously could not sell their likeness while being on scholarship. The new NIL rule changes overturn that precedent completely.A wave of endorsements followed, including shoe deals, local business deals, car dealer partnerships, players signing with agents, paid social posts, etc.Is NIL good or bad for college basketball? Today we have Ken Ammann, head coach of Concordia University and member of the 1990-1991 NIT Championship Stanford Cardinal team and one of the most touted High School Recruits ever to come out of the state of Iowa to play at Stanford, Nic Ravn. Today we discuss NIL, The Transfer Portal and the state of college basketball with two individuals that have an insight like no other. nil transfer portal, nil transfer portal rules, how would a nil deal affect the transfer portal, nil impact on transfer portal, new transfer portal rules, transfer portal rules, what is transfer portal, nil, college basketball, transfer portal, news, opinion, reaction, interview, NCAA, basketball, name image likeness deals, NCAA transfer portal explained, NCAA transfer portal basketball, name image likeness NCAA, name image likeness explained, NCAA transfer portal how does it work00:00 Introduction02:08 NIL11:58 Transfer Portal20:31 Basketball Today34:30 ConclusionThanks for Listening.
