The men and women of ICE don't spend their days pulling over soccer moms on the way to practice. They're hunting some of the most dangerous people in America. Gang members. Drug traffickers. Human smugglers. Criminal illegal aliens who have no business being in this country.

Now, after a few deadly ICE involved shootings, the agency is pausing vehicle stops. That's the wrong move.

These are highly trained federal agents who conduct thousands of vehicle stops each year. The overwhelming majority, virtually every single one, ends peacefully and professionally. But when you're chasing violent criminals, danger comes with the job. Evil doesn't surrender politely.

If ICE backs away from proactive enforcement, who benefits? Not law abiding Americans. Not the victims of illegal alien crime. The only winners are the fugitives who now know they have one less reason to fear getting caught.

You don't make America safer by telling law enforcement to stop enforcing the law. You make America more dangerous by giving criminals another opportunity to disappear.

We're going to explain why this policy sends exactly the wrong message, why it emboldens those here illegally, and why America cannot afford to let politics dictate how our immigration laws are enforced.
