You're listening to the Street Preachers Podcast with Tim Timberlake and Philip Anthony Mitchell.
Tim Timberlake
This episode is powered by Overflow Co and the Museum of the Bible.
What's going on, family? We are in New York City. I wonder, is any of my street team in the room tonight?
Nyc. What's going on, Phil? This is where it started for us, man. Yeah, this is. This is where Street Preachers podcast was birthed in New York City.
So in a sense, we're back home, and what a night it has already been. And we know God has more in store. And so we want to welcome all of our family that are tuning in, that are listening into this moment, and we want to thank everybody for going on this journey with us. And so before we get into the word, Phil, what are we doing here?
Philip Anthony Mitchell
When I used to be in the street.
I met this little half black, half Filipino thing.
Before Jay had his, I had mine. And.
We was dating for, like a year.
And, like, everything was dope while we was dating, right?
I was suicidal for a little bit.
By the Hennessy and a shotgun to my jaw.
And it was in that season of my life when I was suicidal. I went into a bathroom.
I started yelling at God in a bathroom. I did not believe that God existed. And God saved my life in that bathroom. He changed me in that bathroom.
But then me and this little. This little blazing thing.
You know, we got married. And after we got married, it seemed like all hell broke out in our relationship. We was arguing all the time, and we was fighting all the time, and we was beefing all the time. And we was in our early 20s and just thought, like, it was bliss for a little while. And then as soon as we got married, it was just crazy.
I remember this old dude.
Said to us one day, he said, yo, Phil, I had a dream. And in the dream, I saw this man walk into the kitchen. He whispered in your ear, and then he whispered in her ear, y' all turn and start fighting each other. And then he walked out the room. And when I was young, I didn't understand that dream. When I got older, I understood that dream. Because the implications of that dream affect every single person in this room. Because although for all of us, we from different boroughs and we're from different cities, we're from different places, we got different ethnicities, different socioeconomic status.
We got different backgrounds.
All these things are different. But there is something we have in common. And as we all have frustrations.
And hardships and pain and things that bring tears to our eyes and sometimes we don't understand the origin of that. Like, why am I always fighting with my spouse? Why does it seem like every time I turn around, something else is breaking out in my life? Everyone in this room can testify of things being peaceful for a moment, and then without warning, hell just break out in your life without warning, you get into a beef with somebody you love without warning, you fighting your girl every single day without warning, your things are coming unraveled. Everybody in this room could testify of that, right?
Audience Member
All of us know what that feel like.
Philip Anthony Mitchell
And if you don't know what that feel like, just keep living long enough and you'll find yourself in a season that seems peaceful. And then out of nowhere, a storm just come.
And the first thing we do is always to look around into things in the natural.
But I want to tell you tonight, there is a realm more real than what you see with your physical eyes.
That there is a spiritual realm that hugs the natural realm. Man in that spiritual realm, there is a very vicious spirit in that spiritual realm whose humanity is his enemy.
And because we can't see him.
And because some of you don't believe in him, he'll wreak havoc in your marriage. He'll wreak havoc in your relationships.
Audience Member
He'll wreak havoc in your body.
Philip Anthony Mitchell
He has inflicted people with disease and sicknesses. He has killed people's children and shipwrecked businesses and ruined business deals and friendships. He has divided households and made people walk away from places they was not supposed to leave. He's made people walk out of relationships they were not supposed to leave. And because a lot of us don't know about the unseen Realm, we be fighting with the wrong weapons.
And because all of you have experienced hell that has come from him. Tim and I felt led of the Lord today in prayer that we want to talk to you about something that's happening right now in this room in the unseen Realm. We want to talk to you for a little bit. Listen about this one word.
Spiritual warfare.
Because it's real.
And a lot of you be mad at people and it's not them.
And you'll be angry with your boss, but it's not him.
You'd be angry at your girl, but it's not her. And tonight what we want to do is unmask the devil. We want to help some of y' all know how to fight your next battle with more victory.
Because some of y' all be fighting people. And the person you fighting is not even the problem.
You don't even realize that they are Just pawns in a much bigger battle that you can't see. So tonight, we about to unmask the devil in New York in a place where the devil run rampant.
Audience Member
I know.
Philip Anthony Mitchell
Don't tell me. I'm from Queens.
Audience Member
Because after tonight, you're going to fight.
Philip Anthony Mitchell
Different.
And you're going to talk different and you're going to pray different. And you're going to be a little bit more gangster than you was when.
Audience Member
You came in here.
I said you're going to be a little bit more gangster than you was when you came in here.
And because of what you learned tonight.
Philip Anthony Mitchell
It might save a marriage.
It might save a relationship, it might save a business, it might stop you from committing suicide. Because when I had that shotgun to my chin and that bottle of Hennessy on the floor, it wasn't God telling me, pull the trigger. Pull the trigger. Pull the trigger. God don't talk like that.
It was the enemy, yours and mine, that was telling me, watch. Don't nobody love you. Ain't nobody going to miss you. You ain't worth nothing. You ain't never going to amount to nothing. Pull the trigger. Pull the trigger. Pull the trigger. So, Tim, let's unmask the devil tonight and help our brothers and our sisters.
Tim Timberlake
How many got your word? Break your word out. Whether you got your paperback Bible or your digital Bible. Let's go to Ephesians, chapter six.
Philip Anthony Mitchell
They ain't got no Bibles. Anybody got your Bibles in here? Lift them up.
I lift up your iPhone, then you got an app. No androids allowed in the room.
If you got an Android. We going to pray for you when this is over.
Tim Timberlake
Deliverance is here.
Philip Anthony Mitchell
We're going to pray deliverance from that Android demon in. No more turning group chats green. We praying for blue. In the name of Jesus.
We rebuke those of you who turn the group chat green.
Tim Timberlake
Nasty.
Philip Anthony Mitchell
You the only one messing up the group chat.
Tim Timberlake
Ephesians, chapter six.
Philip Anthony Mitchell
Ephesians, chapter six.
Tim Timberlake
Before we read this, let me give you context to what we're about to read. The Apostle Paul is imprisoned. Theologians speculate this is between AD 60 and AD 62. He is in Rome. He is tied to a Roman soldier.
And he is writing this letter.
In a place of constant turmoil, constant torment, constant warfare. And he starts verse 10 by saying, finally.
This is.
A strong word that he uses. It sets up the rest of the scripture. Be strong in the Lord, in the strength of his might. I want you to underline that for a second because oftentimes we try to fight in our own might, we try to salvage relationships in our own might, we try to spare our own destiny with our own might, we try to rescue ourselves with our own might. And the reality is, you can't save yourself. You can't heal yourself. You can't deliver yourself because you didn't make yourself. And we're in a city that believes, Phil, that they are made men. Everything that is successful, I did that. I made that happen. I opened the door. And the reality is, is no, you did not.
In the power of his might.
Philip Anthony Mitchell
But hold on right there, Tim.
Be strong and in the Lord.
Tim Timberlake
In the Lord.
Philip Anthony Mitchell
And one of the best ways to be strong in the Lord is to be weak before the Lord. Come on.
Repeat. One of the best ways to be strong in the Lord is to be weak before the Lord. This is especially for all the men.
Who struggle with insecurities on the inside. But we're trying to keep everything together on the outside. We got bravado projected. But Paul said, when I am weak, then I am strong, I. E. You find strength in the Lord when you're honest about your weakness, when you're honest about your insecurities, when you're honest about your needs, when you're honest about your failures. When you are honest with the Lord is when you find strength in the Lord. The Lord actually delights in your weakness.
Tim Timberlake
Yeah.
Philip Anthony Mitchell
When we are overconfident, we said we have no need of him. And so I want to encourage you in this room, especially for all the men, you will find more strength being weak before the Lord. Like just being honest with him. Yes. I can't do this.
Don't know how to figure this out. Struggling with this insecurity. Pornography got me trapped. Masturbation got me trapped. This got me trapped. When you are weak, then you will find his strength. Be strong in the Lord and in the power of his might. Go ahead, Tim.
Tim Timberlake
He says finally, which is a pastoral warning in Ephesus that was riddled with witchcraft. It was an affluent city. It was a city that was governed by corrupt politics. It was a city that thought it was the best in the world.
Philip Anthony Mitchell
Was like New York.
Tim Timberlake
Just like New York.
Philip Anthony Mitchell
Yeah.
We are the best in the world.
Tim Timberlake
And so Paul gives a very pastoral warning. And what we have to understand about this text is everything God has called you to do will always be resisted by the enemy.
Philip Anthony Mitchell
Say that again, Tim.
Tim Timberlake
Everything God has called you to do will always be resisted by the enemy.
Philip Anthony Mitchell
We on record tonight, right? Say that one more time.
Tim Timberlake
Everything that God has called you to do.
Philip Anthony Mitchell
Not some things.
Tim Timberlake
Not some things. Everything.
Philip Anthony Mitchell
Not a few things. Everything. Everything God has called us to do.
Tim Timberlake
Everything that God has called you to do will be resisted by the enemy. So let me place this right here. If you're not experiencing resistance.
Philip Anthony Mitchell
You might be going in the same direction.
Tim Timberlake
Maybe God did not call you to do what you're doing right now, because everything God has called you to do will experience what.
Philip Anthony Mitchell
And in addition to that, I want to encourage somebody with what Tim is saying, because this is powerful. Yeah.
There are people in this room, Tim, who experience in opposition. Yeah. In their business.
Tim Timberlake
Yep.
Philip Anthony Mitchell
Their ministry. They finally got their relationship together with somebody. They experience an opposition, and they think that they're doing something wrong. But sometimes opposition is a sign that you're going in the right direction.
Tim Timberlake
Come on, Phil.
Philip Anthony Mitchell
Y' all heard what my brother just said. Everything God has called you to do.
You'Re gonna feel some resistance to that. So I just want to encourage some of you who feel like, man, God, I'm doing everything I know to do. And it seemed like, man, all hell is breaking out around me. I just want to encourage you. That might be a sign to you. They call you out your name on social media. They call you out your name and your family. You made a decision to get right in some area, and you're feeling opposition. Maybe that's a sign to you that you're actually headed in the right direction. Yo, we flew here tonight, and if you know anything about aerodynamics, a plane cannot take off without opposition.
Tim Timberlake
Come on. On. Come on.
Philip Anthony Mitchell
Without their resistance, a plane goes. Going down the Runway, and it needs the opposition of wind to lift the wings. No resistance from wind, no lift off that Runway. So maybe that opposition is to lift that business. Maybe that opposition is to lift that ministry. Maybe that opposition is to lift that marriage. Maybe the opposition is to lift that. Fill in the blank. No opposition, no lift for the plane. No opposition, no lifting the fill in the blank.
See? But when you don't know this kind of teaching from the word of God, Tim, you will be blaming yourself for something when you're actually doing what God has called you to do. Come on. But when you don't understand spiritual warfare.
You turn your back and you go the opposite direction. Instead of going through that resistance to see what God would do when that plane takes off the ground, man, you. You start.
Tim Timberlake
You start. You said call. I was reminded Jesus caught Peter onto the water.
Philip Anthony Mitchell
Yes.
Tim Timberlake
He called him.
Philip Anthony Mitchell
He said, come.
Tim Timberlake
And Peter began to sink.
Philip Anthony Mitchell
Yes.
Tim Timberlake
But he did not drown.
Philip Anthony Mitchell
He did not Drown.
Tim Timberlake
Jesus knew that Peter would sink.
Philip Anthony Mitchell
Yeah.
Tim Timberlake
And tonight, some of you are in the worst battle of your life. And you need to know, although it's over your head, it's still under his feet.
Oh, I feel that in the spirit. I said, although it is over your head, it is still under his feet. So I need you to hear me when I tell you this. You may be overwhelmed right now, but the spirit of God is going to overwhelm what's overwhelming you. You may be depressed right now, but I'm telling you, the spirit of God is going to lift you like only he can do. And when you rely on him, depend on him, and you follow his voice and he leads you, he will guide you into all perfect truth, even if it is into warfare.
Philip Anthony Mitchell
But let's. Let's rob them of American gospel.
Tim Timberlake
Yes.
Philip Anthony Mitchell
There's some of y'. All. You think if you follow God, you're going to have an easy flight.
Tim Timberlake
Yeah.
Philip Anthony Mitchell
And you. You actually think if I. If I try to really do this thing, I really try to pray, or I might really try to go to church, or I'm really trying to pivot to do this thing for real, you think you're going to have an easy flight? That's American gospel. That's not biblical gospel. Jesus said, in this life, you will have. Come on, preach.
Watch the promise. You capital dumb, but you will have trouble and tribulation. But take heart.
I've already overcome that for you. Right.
And I would rather be in hell with Jesus in it.
Than in a false peace with him, not in it.
And so if you're feeling winds of adversity, I'm just trying to encourage somebody in this room, Tim and I. If you're feeling that pressure, maybe that pressure is necessary for that thing to take off. Some. Some of the most.
Greatest stories of what God has done in our life. You can't tell that story without trouble, and you can't tell that story without resistance, and you can't tell that story without hard nights. You can't tell that story. Right. So. So. So maybe you are going in the right direction. Right. And God is saying, come walk that text.
Tim Timberlake
So Paul is staring at this Roman soldier and he says to the church of Ephesus, put on the full armor of God.
So that you may be able to stand firm.
Against the schemes of the devil. But what I love about this.
And what I've come to learn about this is that the devil doesn't have to defeat you if he keeps you distracted.
The devil doesn't have to defeat you if he can just keep you distracted. So I want you to do personal inventory right now. If you're in this room or maybe you're listening, maybe you're watching online. What is distracting you in this season?
Is it social media? Is it a relationship that you know is not pushing you closer to Jesus? Because some of the things you call warfare is not actually spiritual warfare. It's bad decisions.
And some of us are blaming the devil for decisions we made. And we're saying the devil did this and the devil did that, and you opened the door for.
What I've come to learn is it's impossible to cast out a demon you love playing with.
For our struggle is not against flesh and blood.
Philip Anthony Mitchell
Before you say that.
Because we about to. You about. We about to drop heat right there. Hold on. Before you drop that heat.
Did y' all hear the verse my brother just read? He said, listen. Listen to what the spirit. Listen. Listen. Listen to what the spirit of God said to you. I want everybody pay attention to the text. Put on the full armor of God.
The Lord would not tell you put on armor if he knows you was not going to be in battles.
Tim Timberlake
Come on.
Philip Anthony Mitchell
Right, so the text prophesies to you that you're gonna have battles.
And these battles, they form in the unseen realm, and they just manifest in the scene realm. Like that dream with that man talking in my ear. That was a demonic spirit in that dream. Instigating. Like, look at your wife. She ain't no good. She don't cook. She don't clean. She instigating in my air, then instigating in her air, stepping out of that kitchen. We turn, we fight, right? And when you don't understand spiritual warfare, you won't even know you have armor. When you don't believe you're in a battle, you won't even know that you got armor. So before we even get to the armor, I just want to tell you that the armor already prophesies that you're going to be in battles. And what we are doing right now, Tim and I, trying to unmask the devil to help you understand that some of the things you're dealing with in this room.
They'Re forming in that unseen realm. They are manifesting in the scene realm. And if you don't know how to use your armor and if you don't know how to use your weapons, you won't know how to back the devil down from the hell he's stirring up in your life. Does that make sense to you?
Tim Timberlake
You said something so powerful.
Philip Anthony Mitchell
What's that, bro?
The mind. Yeah.
Tim Timberlake
Most warfare does not come across like demonic assault.
Philip Anthony Mitchell
Yeah.
Tim Timberlake
It comes across as mental clutter.
Unpack. What helped you navigate that moment in the kitchen with Lena? To give you clarity that this is the devil that has come between us.
Philip Anthony Mitchell
Can I give y' all a passage of scripture that'll be one of your. Your best weapons for the rest of your life? I'mma answer my brother's question with a verse. Come on. And that verse is like. It's like a pistol. It's like a Glock. Just carry it with you for the rest of your life. Y' all ready for that verse? Just. Just. Just.
Tim Timberlake
Just.
Philip Anthony Mitchell
Just highlight this in your little. In your Bible app, y'. All. Y' all ready for that verse?
Second Corinthians, chapter 10. Second Corinthians 2. Second Corinthians. Y' all ready for the verse?
Y' all ready? 2nd Corinthians. Are you there?
You said you got to find your time with the pages. I know. I need my app, right?
Tim Timberlake
Y' all ready?
Philip Anthony Mitchell
Second Corinthians, chapter two. And let's go to verse.
Let's go to verse.
Now. Let's go to Second Corinthians, 2. Let's go to 10. Yeah, there it is. Second Corinthians. Second Corinthians, chapter 10. I'm going to give you. I'm going to give you just this one verse because Tim said a lot of that warfare starts. Where. Where does it start? Everybody, listen to me. Listen that. Where did. Tim said. He said a lot of that warfare. Where does it begin?
Tim Timberlake
In the mind.
Philip Anthony Mitchell
And then it drops to your heart. And then it filters out into your life. So I'm gonna give you one verse that you use for the rest of your life. Y' all ready? This is better than Excedrin. It's better than Tylenol. It's better than medicine. It's better than a blunt talk that talks.
And I'm not condemning you. I'm just going to give you something that's stronger than your next blunt.
Tim Timberlake
Come on.
Philip Anthony Mitchell
Because when that high come down, your mind is still going to be tormented.
Tim Timberlake
Teach.
Philip Anthony Mitchell
Second Corinthians, chapter 10.
No. Verse 4.
Let's do context. Verse 3. For though we walk in the flesh.
We are not waging war according to the flesh. Now watch the verse. Verse 4. For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but they are mighty in God to destroy strongholds. Okay. The weapons of your warfare are not carnal.
The weapons of our warfare are not carnal it's not a knife. It's not the gun I walk around with on my hip when I'm in Georgia.
The weapons of our warfare are not things you can touch. The weapons of our warfare are not carnal. But whatever they are, they are mighty in God for the pulling down of strongholds. Now watch.
Right, verse five. We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion that is raised against the knowledge of God.
Audience Member
And we take every thought captive.
Philip Anthony Mitchell
Dang, this is so powerful.
Audience Member
We take every thought captive.
Philip Anthony Mitchell
God help us tonight.
Audience Member
We take every thought captive and we tear it down and we make it obedient to Christ.
The warfare in your mind is what the Bible calls strongholds, thought patterns and lies. Whispers from the devil that begin in your mind.
Philip Anthony Mitchell
You meditate on them.
Audience Member
You think about them, you worry about them. They go into your heart and they come out your mouth. They manifest in your life. You're depressed, you're full of anxiety, you're full of worry.
Philip Anthony Mitchell
You're making bad decisions. They're in your mind. He said your weapons is to take.
Audience Member
Every thought that goes against God's word. You snatch that thought and you pull it down and you replace it with.
Philip Anthony Mitchell
The truth of God's word.
Audience Member
And every time you do that, you.
Philip Anthony Mitchell
Use a weapon to destroy the origin of where your warfare begins.
Audience Member
So you have to learn to steward, watch your thoughts.
Tim Timberlake
Come on.
Philip Anthony Mitchell
And that you got to know that every thought is not yours.
Repeat.
Tim Timberlake
Every.
Philip Anthony Mitchell
Thought is not yours.
Yet all of your trouble starts in your mind.
Tim Timberlake
Come on.
Philip Anthony Mitchell
And you'll be hearing evil stuff in your mind, even things you say about your own self. And this is the weapon against that. You got to learn how to snatch those thoughts and replace them with the word of God. That's why you need to know a little bit of truth. Yeah, because the more truth you know, the easier it is to discern a lie, right? So you have thoughts in your mind that says, man, man, God has left you. He's abandoned you, made so many mistakes. He's not with you no more. That's where the warfare begins. But your weapon will say, the Bible says, God will never leave me, nor forsake me.
Nor forsake me.
The warfare starts in mind. You got a doctor's report. You say, man, I'm gonna die. But the scripture says, for he was wounded for our transgressions, and he was bruised for our iniquities. The chastisement of our peace was upon him, and with his stripes we are healed.
And so what I'm telling you right now is the Answer to Tim's question. This will be one of the most powerful weapons you'll ever use for the rest of your life is training yourself to replace negative thinking with the positive words that we have in God's holy scriptures. So you got to learn how to talk to yourself with God's word and tear down the lies that you have in your mind. So when you're sitting at your desk, or when you're on the train or when you're driving to work or you're on the subway and you got a flood of negative thoughts in your mind, you got to learn to not dwell on those so long that they sink you into a basement. Kill yourself. Kill yourself. You have no worth and value, but the scripture says you were created in God's image.
Tim Timberlake
Come on.
Philip Anthony Mitchell
And so the way we even begin to fight that warfare us in our mind is that we got to learn how to cast down those negative thoughts and replace them with the word of God.
Tim Timberlake
You just preached the whole message and you didn't even know it. You said something so powerful.
Philip Anthony Mitchell
What's that, bro?
Tim Timberlake
Take control of your thoughts. Yeah. The way you take control of your thoughts is you monitor whose voice you listen to. Yeah, the voice you listen to determines the future you experience.
Philip Anthony Mitchell
So maybe we need to take inventory of the voices we have in our lives.
Tim Timberlake
God asked Adam and Eve this question.
Philip Anthony Mitchell
Who told you? Yeah.
Tim Timberlake
You were naked.
Philip Anthony Mitchell
Yeah. Who told you?
Tim Timberlake
You were depressed?
Philip Anthony Mitchell
Who told you? Who told you?
Tim Timberlake
Who told you?
Philip Anthony Mitchell
Who told you that? Or when Jesus was in the wilderness being tempted, and the devil said to him, it is written. And then Jesus turned back to him, says it is written.
The devil says, it is written. Jesus said, it is written. You got to know the difference.
Tim Timberlake
Come on. So let's get granial for a second. How do you know the difference? Because I know people want to know this. We get this question all the time. How do you know the difference between the voice of God, your voice, and the voice of the enemy?
Philip Anthony Mitchell
Everybody in this room has been corrupted by sin. Your thoughts have been corrupted by sin. Your intellect has been corrupted by sin. Your heart has been corrupted by sin. So you'll hear things in your head.
That is antithetical to truth. So let me tell you something right now. God will never tell you to do anything that goes against his Word.
Right? And some of you have listened to preachers and people on podcasts and read books of people telling you stuff on social media. Say God told him, no, you didn't. You lie. God would never tell you to do anything that Goes against. So one of the ways to safely determine if God is speaking to you is does it line up with his word? If it does not line up with his word, then we know for a fact he has not spoken. Also, too, when God speaks, it bears witness with your spirit. When his spirit speaks to your spirit, something bears witness. You feel this peace, the sense of assurance that you have heard from God, right?
Tim Timberlake
That you, you.
Philip Anthony Mitchell
You felt like something you. You've heard God on the inside. And then you have this supernatural peace, this assurance there is a testimony of your spirit to God's spirit, that God has spoken. And when God speaks, peace follows. That's why Colossians says, man, let peace rule in your heart, leading every decision to be made to the point where I know I have peace from making that decision. So we know that when God has spoken, there is peace. When God has spoken, there was a witness, a bearing of witness. And when God has spoken, we know it lines up with his word.
Tim Timberlake
That's good. Back to Ephesians. Back to Ephesians. Yeah.
Tonight is loaded.
Philip Anthony Mitchell
They don't want that, though. They want us to come in here and prophet lie. They want us to prophet l and say they so is right here. And then God's going to give you 10, 100 for old 100 fold. Full bless what they want.
We are. She said we're. She said we don't play that. We don't play that up here. She said they don't play that up here.
Tim Timberlake
So put on the full armor of God. What verse you are 11? Yep. So that you will be able to stand firm. You know, one of the greatest attacks, one of the greatest struggles of warfare that the enemy will use will be to get you to sit down when God has called you to stand.
I heard you all the way up there, so I'm going to say it. One of the greatest attacks that the enemy will try to use is to get you to sit down when God has told you to stand.
Sit down in righteousness and don't stand for it. Don't speak for injustice, to look at what's happening in culture and society around you and remain silent. But the Bible says to stand.
So what does it look like to stand?
Philip Anthony Mitchell
It means to have resilience. Yeah.
It means to have convictions.
It means to have courage.
It means to not run away from warfare.
It means to not be a slave to approval, addiction.
Tim Timberlake
Come on.
Philip Anthony Mitchell
And people pleasing like you can't stand if you're a people pleaser. And some of you, you'll be trying to please the same people that's going to turn their back on you next year. Any.
I've learned the hard way from what you and I do from week to week. If you live by the applause of men, you'll die by their rejection.
Standing looks like not being afraid to get into a good conflict. Not being afraid to speak the truth.
Tim Timberlake
Yeah.
Philip Anthony Mitchell
Standing looks like what you and I do every Sunday and take heat for that. Yeah. Is not being afraid to preach the truth in a hostile culture against God's word.
Tim Timberlake
Right.
Philip Anthony Mitchell
That's what it looks like to stand.
But stand against what, though, Tim? Against the schemes of the devil. Yeah. How does the devil scheme on us, though, Tim?
Tim Timberlake
He sows ideas of insufficiency, insecurity. He sows seeds of doubt, which is one of the things that I struggle with, you and me. Talk about this. He sows seeds of a false image of who you are in the eyes of God. If the enemy can corrupt the way you view yourself, he can corrupt the way you hear God's voice.
That's why God always calls you a son and a daughter, and he knows your sin, but the enemy always calls you by your sin and he knows your name.
One of the greatest weapons of the enemy is to get you to not realize who you are in Christ Jesus.
Philip Anthony Mitchell
And so when people have identity crisis.
And when they don't know who they are.
Sometimes they be hating themselves. Yeah.
My father wasn't there, my mother wasn't there, so I have this identity crisis.
But the fastest way to fix that, Tim, is to learn who they are. Come on in Christ. Yeah, Right. Your father may have failed you and your mother may have failed you, but you got to find your identity in Christ. And something very powerful happens to people. They find their identity in Christ. It's like you walk into a room different, and you deal with hell different, and you pray different. Right. And you handle trouble different. And one of the greatest transitions that will ever happen in your life is when you turn away from being confused about who you are to understand who you really are according to what God has spoken about you. Yeah. Right.
So to take your stand against the wiles of the devil, his schemes, he sows doubt, distraction, discord, lies. He stirs up our insecurity. He pulls on them strings to make us feel insecure, fear, disappointment, disappointment, heartbreak. All these schemes. Yeah. Beef between people who you're supposed to stay in a relationship with. Yeah, Right. Jealousy, covetousness. I mean, that's big in the culture. Yeah. Because of social media. Because we got Windows into everybody else's life. Man, it's so easy for us to be jealous of what the next man got. Yeah, and the devil uses that, too. So we need to take our stand against the schemes of the devil. And then do what?
Tim Timberlake
Put on. Put on. Yeah, the whole. The full armor. Arm of God.
Philip Anthony Mitchell
What's in the armor, Tim?
Tim Timberlake
What's arms?
Philip Anthony Mitchell
The helmet.
To protect your.
Tim Timberlake
What?
Philip Anthony Mitchell
Your mind. What's the next part of the armor?
Tim Timberlake
A sword.
Philip Anthony Mitchell
The sword. What do you do with the sword?
Tim Timberlake
You protect yourself. If faith comes by hearing, and hearing the word doubt comes from not hearing that.
Philip Anthony Mitchell
And here's your sword right here.
Tim Timberlake
Come on. Your weapon.
Philip Anthony Mitchell
Everybody. Look. I got my sword right here in my head. That's your sword right there. You swing that. What else is in the armor, Tim?
Tim Timberlake
The shield of faith.
Philip Anthony Mitchell
What do you do with a shield? You resist fiery darts of lies. Right. So you fight doubt with faith. You fight fear with faith. You fight unbelief with faith. Unbelief is a dart. You use the shield of faith for that. Fear is a doubt. You use the shield of faith for that. And I want to just say, oh, thank you, Holy Spirit. There's somebody in this room. The Lord is calling you to do something. And I know you're afraid.
You know who you are. I'm talking to you. There's somebody in the room tonight. And God is calling you to do something. And you are afraid. And you're waiting for the fear to go away before you obey. And it may not go away. You need to just do it. Afraid. You need to just hold up your shield and just obey God. Afraid. And then step into that thing. Afraid. And use the faith that God has given you to back down that fear long enough for you to see the faithfulness of God as you take that step of faith. I don't even know who this is for. I say to somebody tonight, take the step of faith and trust what God will do when you take that step of faith. If you're waiting for fear to go away, it's not if you're waiting for things to be perfect. It's not. If you're waiting for another word, it's not coming.
Audience Member
Tomorrow. Obey.
This week, Obey.
Philip Anthony Mitchell
This month.
Audience Member

Philip Anthony Mitchell
And step out and see what God would do. And use your shield to extinguish the fear that be keeping so many of us from doing what God has called us to do.
Tim Timberlake
I know we got.
Philip Anthony Mitchell
I ain't never met a fearless person, but I Have met people who fear less.
Tim Timberlake
Come on, say it again.
Philip Anthony Mitchell
I've never in my life met a fearless person.
But I have met people who's learned to fear less.
That is, everybody struggles with fear, but some of us just got enough faith to keep conquering it over and over and over.
And over again. Anybody here struggle with fear?
Father, right now, in the name of Jesus, we go. Because Tim and I, we obey the Spirit.
We come against the bondage of fear. Who got faith for that? Lift up your hand for just a second.
Tim Timberlake
Just.
Philip Anthony Mitchell
Just lift your hand right there for just a second. We're going to finish this teaching, but because fair is keeping you, some of y', all, from obedience, is keeping you from starting that ministry, is keeping you from starting the podcast, writing the book. It's keeping you from having the conversation. It's keeping you from moving to Atlanta or moving to Jacksonville.
Just, just. Just right there where your hand is. We're gonna be about to break that right now. Father, in the name of Jesus, we come against the power of fear that is keeping people from stepping into what you have called them to do. We rebuke the spirit of the devil that is pulling on the heartstrings of men and women and keeping them from stepping into what you have called. Father, right now, we release a spirit.
Audience Member
Of faith in this room. We say, faith arise in this room. Faith that kicks open doors.
Faith that has tough conversations. Faith that believes even what seems impossible. Faith that steps out without all the answers. Faith that takes the last 5,000 and starts the business. Faith that starts the podcast. Faith that writes the first chapter of the book. Faith that has the difficult conversation. Faith that puts your hand on your own.
Philip Anthony Mitchell
Woman Said says it will be fruitful. Let faith arise in this room.
I feel that in this room.

Because time is running out on us.
Tim Timberlake
You.
Philip Anthony Mitchell
You Wasting time, being afraid when we ain't got that much time left.
You said, but what if I fail? So what? Fail forward.
So what if I fail? So what? Fail forward. There's nobody that's been successful in anything who don't. Can't count failures. Your only failure is to not try, to not obey, to not step into what God is calling you to do.
You just take the first step even if you can't see this case. A man said, man, Faith is just jumping and trusting God to catch you. Faith is starting a podcast and going on tour after the fourth episode.
What are we doing out here, Tim?
We ain't even been podcasting for a year and we touring the country.

I'm about to pray over every baby in this room.
If you, if you, if you feel like.
There's an anointing right here, that's gonna cost you something. You've been struggling and you need a touch from God to believe, to step into that thing he's calling you to do. I want you to slip out the pew and just move towards us right now. Just, just slip out the of piece pew. Just move to. We about to pray. I'm about to pray that babies would not be aborted right now. Just, just. Just slip out the pew and just move towards us right now. Just, just move towards us right now. Just. And if you're in the balcony and you can't get down here, just stand where you are. Just by faith, just get as close as you can and spread out left to right.
Put your hand on your st.
See, we destroying every lie of the devil tonight.
God, these wombs are full of spiritual babies, dreams and visions, anointings. We pray not one of them will be aborted.

Tim Timberlake

Episode Theme:
"Unmasking the Devil: Spiritual Warfare, Resistance, and Stepping Out in Faith"
Broadcasting from their podcast’s birthplace—New York City—Philip Anthony Mitchell and Tim Timberlake dive deep into the realities of spiritual warfare, dismantling popular misconceptions about following God, addressing the unseen battles behind everyday struggles, and encouraging their audience to step out in faith. Through vulnerable storytelling, audience interaction, biblical teaching, and fervent prayer, they challenge listeners to fight spiritual battles with the right weapons and refuse a life hindered by fear, distraction, or doubt.

Strength in Weakness:
“One of the best ways to be strong in the Lord is to be weak before the Lord... When I am weak, then I am strong.” — Philip Anthony Mitchell (11:27–12:13)
Anything God calls you to will meet resistance; opposition may mean you’re on the right track:
“Everything that God has called you to do will always be resisted by the enemy… If you're not experiencing resistance, you might be going in the same direction.” — Tim Timberlake (13:30–13:56)
“A plane cannot take off without opposition. No resistance from wind, no lift off that runway.” — Philip Anthony Mitchell (15:24)

“It's impossible to cast out a demon you love playing with.” — Tim Timberlake (20:33)
Ephesians 6: Armor as evidence that battles are inevitable; “armor prophesies battles.” (21:22–22:31)
Mind as battleground:
“Most warfare does not come across like demonic assault. It comes across as mental clutter.” — Tim Timberlake (22:55)
Practical Tool: 2 Corinthians 10:3-5 — authority to “take every thought captive,” replace lies with God’s truth (24:10–27:10).
Not every thought is yours—learn to “snatch those thoughts and replace them with the word of God.” (28:14)
“The more truth you know, the easier it is to discern a lie.” — Philip Anthony Mitchell (28:34)
“The voice you listen to determines the future you experience.” — Tim Timberlake (30:29)
“If you live by the applause of men, you'll die by their rejection.” — Philip Anthony Mitchell (35:14)
Helmet (mind), Sword (God’s word), Shield (faith)—essential weapons for believers (39:00–39:55).
