Now we solved that. This week I will share with you my tips on how to travel from Cagliari to Alghero, two of the most famous tourist destinations here in Sardinia. Let me stress that you will find a more detailed version of today's episode on my blog sweetly sardinia.com as always, you will find the link to my blog post in today's episode description, so don't forget to read that for more information. Also, I am available to help you plan your trip to Sardinia. You can book a one hour travel consultation with me. Again, the link for that is in the episode description. Finally, today's topic. How can you get from Calgary to Algarve? Well, first of all, why would you make that trip? One reason is the most important one. You may be on a road trip around Sardinia. You start in Cagliari and for some reason you need to get to Alghero and from Alghero you're catching your flight home. In fact, Alghero is home to one of the three airports of Sardinia that is connected to the rest of Italy and Europe by regular airlines and budget airlines. For whatever reason, if you need to travel from between the two cities, it's really easy and I will explain every everything you need to know. Now the easiest way of traveling from Calgary to Alghero is obviously by car. Whether for some reason you're landing in Cagliari airport and want to travel directly to Alghero or you're in Cagliari exploring Calgary and then you have to make your way. The drive will take you around three hours. You have to follow State Road 131, we call it Cento Trent Uno in Italian northbound towards Sassari and once you are close to Sassery you have to take State Road 291 to Alghero. It's a fairly straightforward trip. The the road is smooth. Remember that on the freeway the speed limit is 110km per hour. Don't forget that you need to follow the speed limit. Also important reminder, there are several Places where you can stop for gas along the way, where you can stop for a rest, bathrooms, fill up your car, eat a snack, whatever. It's not the prettiest drive. You mostly drive in south Sardinia, around along the plains of Sardinia, the Campidano plains. And then you reach a more mountainous area near the Macomer area, which is a bit more interesting of a drive. Can you travel from Calgary to Alghero by train? Well, yes and no. There is no direct train to Alghero from Cagliari. So if you want to travel there by train, you need to first of all travel from Cagliari to Sassari. If you're traveling from Cagliari city center, you will find trains to Sassery that departs every couple of hours from the train station in Piazza Mateotti. That's close to the Harbo, close to everything. If you're traveling from Calerie Elmas Airport, you will find trains departing every couple of hours from the station. So whether you're traveling from the city center or from the airport, there are direct trains to Sassery. And once you get. Once you get to Sassery you will have to get another train to Algharo. Now, first of all, the train ride from Caller to Sasser takes about three hours and 20 minutes. It's much quicker to go by car unless you get a direct train. You have to change Inozieri Kilivani and you have a window of 5, 10 minutes to make the change. It's really easy. The train station is tiny. The platforms are literally one next to the other. So it's seamless. Once you are in Sassari, you have to find a direct train to Alghero. Now there are regular departures from 6am till 9pm daily and the journey lasts about 45 minutes. You will have to find to buy two separate tickets because the two trains are run by two different companies. So the train from Caliari to Sasseri is run by Trenitalia, whereas the train from Sasseri to Alghero is run by ours, the regional service. It's a fairly budget friendly way of traveling between the two cities. Another way of going from Calgary to Alghero is by bus. There is a direct bus to to Alghero from Caliari. It lives from Calgary Piazza Mateoti Art Station, which is pretty much next to the bus station and it goes to Alghero Fertilia Airport. The service is operated by a company called Logo d' Oro Tours and there are several departures every day. The ride takes about Four and a half hours. So it's not. Again, it's. It's a fairly long journey, but it's budget friendly. Finally you have the option of taking a private transfer. There are a bunch that you can use. I normally recommend going to welcome pickups. Don't worry, I'll pop the link for that in my episode description. It's fairly expensive, but if you have a lot of luggage, if you're traveling with a group of people, it may also be the easiest option. Amount of time it takes about three hours, two and a half, three hours. So it's. It's really easy. And it literally can pick you up directly at your door and take you to the door of your hotel or to the airport. You can also travel on a combination of a train and bus. I do not recommend this unless you have a lot of time and unless you really want to go budget budget friendly. From Cagliari Elmas, you will have to travel all the way to Macomer, which is a small town in central northern Sardinia where you can hop on an arst public bus to Alghero. There is only one daily bus connecting Macomer to Alghero that departs at 8:50am which means that basically you really only have one option to travel from from Kaliari airport to Macomer. The train from Cagliari airport to macomer arrives at 8:23am and once in Macomer you have to quickly make your way to the bus station for the bus that departs at 8:50. It's super budget friendly, super tight, not the most comfortable way of traveling. Now you may have some questions. How far is Caleri from alghero? It's roughly 250 kilometers. Around 155 miles. It takes about 2 hours and 45 minutes. The direct bus takes more than 4 hours, actually 4 and a half. How long does it take to get to Algaro from Caliari? As I said, 2 hours and 45 minutes by car. The train or the bus take more than more than four and a half hours. What the best way to travel between the two, by all means it would be the car. It's the fastest option, the most comfortable option where whether you are traveling with your own rental car or with a private transfer, it's the easiest. It's the easiest way. This brings me to the end of my episode. Now, before I share the topic for the next episode, let me remind you again that if you need more tips to plan your trip to Sergey Sardinia, you can book a one hour travel consultation with me. I'll pop the link for that in today's episode description. Of course, there's my blog, Sweetly Sardinia.com that has incredible amount of tips to plan your trip completely free of charge.
