This is Stylish, the podcast for all things fashion, lifestyle, brand and beauty. My name is Madison Sullivan Thorpe. My co hosts today are Joanna Fleming and Annika Doshi Smith. And this is our last Wednesday epis of Stylish for the year 2025. Before we begin today, we feel it is so, so important for us to acknowledge the significant tragedy that has occurred this last week in Sydney. We want to pay our respects to the Jewish community who we know are hurting at the moment. And we keep you in our thoughts and are sending you so much love. We want to pass on our respects to the victims, their families, their loved ones, and the community at large. We know people are carrying a lot right now. Our job is to deliver a weekly podcast, and we will continue with this episode this week to bring you a moment of small joy. And we just didn't feel that we could do this episode without recognising the absolute tragedy that has occurred in Australia this week. And our hearts are very heavy.
B
Really beautifully put, Mads.
C
Yeah, thank you so much. That was perfect.
B
All right, so as Mads said, we are carrying on with our episode today. We're first going to be discussing our word of the year for next year. As OG listeners will know, we did this last year. We're also sharing our guide to the holidays, our holy grail, makeup, skincare and hair care products of 2025. But first, let's jump into our swaps for our last episode of 2025. I cannot believe that we are currently recording our last episode of the year.
C
I'm shock. Literally, I'm like, how are we even here?
B
Annika said before, she's like, wait, have we been doing this since 2024?
C
We're like, yeah, I already think I'm in 2026. I don't know where I am.
A
I'm not gonna lie. I'm quite excited for this to be one of our final ones. I'm sick of hearing my own voice at the studio. Never you two. I love hearing from you two, but I personally, I've had enough of myself on a microphone.
C
Yeah, I've been cackling my whole way through the year. We're done.
A
It would be wrong if you didn't kick it off, Annika.
C
Okay. Wow. Getting dressed, you guys, during pregnancy is no joke. And I'm at 27 weeks now. Le baby is a cauliflower. We've been having little jokes in the office before, but comfort dressing is kind of what you lean to what you want to do. I'm really lacking in the inspiration department and I have found a super cool creator on Instagram who I keep looking to for Inspo. She's just all around really cool. She is 39, she just had her baby and she praises like having kids later in life. She is actually the of brand at Naked, which is like a big Swedish fashion house.
A
I didn't know Naked was Swedish.
C
Yeah. So the Scandies can do no wrong in my eyes. But her name is Weronika Lease. Apologies if I've got that wrong. I'm so not Scandi and cool like that. But Weronica Leas on Instagram as well. Everything about her feels aspirational but approachable, which I love. And all of her fits are very much kind of like simplistic styles that you can layer wear. Seasons now, seasons to come and everything just feels really intentional but effortless. She's a vibe if you need some Inspo because she's my go to girl at the moment right here.
B
There'll be a lot of pregnant women that are like thankful for that.
C
Yeah. Honestly, they keep messaging me the girlies and I want to help, but I'm holding on by a goddamn thread. Quite literally, literally, literally.
A
Now people can't say, but Annika's belly is poking out. She's out of her top.
C
I know I'm going to be wearing a crop top by the end of this.
A
Can't wait. So mine. You guys know I love a bougie candle. I feel, I feel bad about the fact I love bougie fragrances and candles.
B
Can I just. The irony of that is that candle in French is the word bougie.
A
So I like a bougie. Yeah, just a full stop bougie. So I am a diptyque lover for so many reasons. I love their campaigns, I love their products. But every year I always hold on for their holiday range to launch. And I am so allergic to Christmas trees. Like as a high fever girly, it just sends me into a spin. Oh, so I have a fake tree. I have a beautiful fake tree that I bought this year which was like a big milestone. It was like nice having a little tree to myself and decorating it with my mum.
B
Does anyone have a real tree in this room?
C
Every year we have a real tree and this is the one year I've refused to organize anything for Christmas.
B
Yeah.
C
And guess what? We have no tree.
B
Oh, James, the grandma's here.
C
I know.
A
I actually have some really cute little diptyque statue trees. You should come over, get one of them so you can just have a mini tree.
C
I'll take them. Thank you.
A
Perfect. So I actually bought Sapon, which is this beautiful pine fragrance that they do in both a candle and a room spray. And I bought the room spray so that I can spray around the tree so it feels like the festive season without the like 500. Achoo. Achoo. Achoo. I don't sneeze that cute, but I wish I did. So that is my swap for maybe anyone who also has the allergy thing or just likes to get into the. The holiday spirit. I would strongly suggest it.
B
I'm going to take that one on board because I am really scared of spiders and I saw a few Tiktoks I think, a couple of years ago about Huntsman's creating nests in real trees. And to be honest, I don't think I could ever have a real tree in my house after that. I will take that on board.
A
Do you know what? Even if one day that allergy disappears, that little fun fact from you is enough to have me with my fake tree for life.
B
Yeah, it's enough for me too. My swap for today is a small Melbourne business doing natural stone homewares. It is a brand called Stoney s t o n I.au on Instagram. So this brand was actually created by a colleague that I used to work with.
A
I love that.
B
And she was actually working on this brand for a really long time and decided to launch it while she was on mat leave. And I just really wanted to call that out because she's doing beautiful stone pieces. I have the Sophia tray in my bathroom and I wanted to call it out because it's engagement season right now.
C
Yes, it is.
B
So many people are probably gonna be looking for little trinket trays.
A
Fingers crossed.
B
For me, it's holiday next month and these little trays are so perfect to put your rings in. So I always take my rings off before I get in the shower, so I don't wear them to bed. I just. I sleep on my hands. If we go into sleeping positions at any point, I don't know if I've ever spoken about this, but I sleep on my stomach and I have my hands underneath me. It's the scariest thing you'll probably ever see.
C
That is so weird.
B
Yeah, it's really weird to see, but it's the most comfortable position. It's not Good for me at all. But yeah, like that. Yeah, fully. My arms are underneath my legs.
C
Bizarre. Yeah, she's kind of like a little leapfrog.
B
And then I just have my head to the side. Anyway, so I don't wear my engagement ring to bed because it wouldn't be comfortable. So take everything off, put it in the little trinket tray, and it's just a really beautiful red Calcutta, I think it's called. Nice little Calcutta Viola.
C
Yes, exactly.
B
So just a nice little presents for someone that may have just gotten engaged or a little Chrissy presents.
A
Housewarming gift. 30th Miles birthday. This goes on chic.
B
Yep. So stony.
A
Okay, next we're talking all things word of the year, but that will be right after a word from today's sponsor.
B
I can probably guess what's on your Christmas wish list this year, because it's probably at the top of mine, too. A timeless piece of meaningful fine jewelry. You really can't go wrong.
A
Wrong.
B
We can be as polite as we want, but most of us are secretly hoping to unwrap a special piece of jewelry this year. And if not, you might be planning to buy a treasure for yourself, your sister, your mom, or a close friend. So here's a hot tip. One of the chicest women of all time, Miranda Kerr, has recently launched her Christmas gift edit for Michael Hill. And to say we're obsessed is an understatement. From contemporary styles to diamond classics to personalized charms, Miranda has thoughtfully chosen each piece to guarantee there's a piece for every stylish woman in your life. As for my picks, I'm loving the gold earring charms and pendants that tell a story. And if I'm going all out, I can't resist a diamond timeless tennis bracelet. Discover Miranda Kerr's Christmas gift edit now online at Michael Hill. Thank you so much to Michael Hill for making this episode of stylish possible. All right, word of the year to start us off. So at the end of 2024, we did a segment called word of the year where we each shared a word that summed up what our 2024 was like. We actually do have a clip to play from each of us in that episode talking about our words. Let's play that for you now. For me, that wor Transformative.
C
But mine's actually progression.
A
Brave. I have been so brave. That was my word last year.
B
I know, but you know, and it.
A
Still somehow is this year's word.
C
I feel like you've just had your big girl pants on and You've really done everything incredible this year.
A
Do you know what? I actually get as emotional as when we spoke about that, because I remember I've never cried on this podcast, actually. That's a total liar.
C
I've seen you cry a few times.
A
Here Now, Monica said something to you at one point when we were at your wedding and she was filming something, and I said, don't film me. Half my family haven't even seen me cry. How do you guys feel about the Word of the Year concept? Because when we originally did Word of the Year, it was like setting the intention for what you wanted. And then we reflected.
B
Yes, I like this practice because it makes you look back on, I guess, what sums up your year.
C
And it's actually crazy just to take a moment to reflect. We all live such busy lives, and I really, actually sit down and reflect on, like, oh, my gosh, I've achieved X, Y, and Z this year. And it's like a moment to actually really sit into how proud we are of each other.
A
Yeah. And what I love the most about Word of the Year is that it's not like New Year's resolutions. I think New Year's resolutions, I think they can be really helpful. I think equally, they can also be quite hurtful to yourself. So it's like, you know, you start putting all these, like, measurable things on what you want to achieve in the next 12 months, and it can start to feel a little bit like, you know, self punishment if you're not doing 10,000 steps a day or you're not going to the gym four times a week, or you're not, you know, like, getting that promotion that you wanted. Whereas the Word of the Year, it's not necessarily a list of delivery deliverables you have to achieve. It's just about embodying spirit and energy, like, to an extent, which I like.
C
I like that, too.
A
Yeah.
B
So before we select a word for our 2026, looking forward, how would we classify our 2025s? What word would you choose for your 2025?
A
I would choose my word as unapologetic. I think last year I was really brave, but I think that I faked it until I made it a lot of the time. And I think I was wobbly at the knees while still standing really tall. And now I think I'm standing really tall and authentically in a lot of the things in. You know, I know we joke a lot. Ray always laughs that I do this. Say it with your chest. But I think this year I've Really? You know, I mean what I say, and I say what I mean, and I think I said it on when we did this episode last year, that I think brave will be. From a time in my life, brave will be the forever undertone. And I hope that it is for the rest of my life. But I think that standing unapologetically is who I am and in decisions I make and vouching for others and for myself, I have been really proud of that this year.
C
I feel like you lead with integrity in everything that you do. Like, literally, I do this to you. I kind of love it. It's my superpower. But no, seriously, I feel like since meeting you and watching you on the pod and just in, like, life, in who you are and how you show up for people is so impressive. Like, I actually have goosebumps right now because you're one of those genuine, authentic people that you are just, I don't know, such a magnetic woman in everything that you do. And I'm so proud of you for believing in yourself, because we believe in you.
A
Oh, my God, am I.
B
Okay, guys, I'm handing out tissues left, right, and center here.
A
You're gonna be an amazing mum. Just give that pep talk before prep day one.
B
I think I'll hold back what I was gonna say just because I don't think we'll be able to continue with the episode. I was also going to add to that. Mads, I've seen so much personal growth in you over the last 12 months. You probably don't see it as much in yourself, but, like, looking back to 12 months ago, I could see that there was, like, that apprehension there that you were like, oh, I don't know what the next year is going to hold. And I can just see it in you that there is pride for yourself, and I love to see that in you.
C
Thanks, guys. I think 2026, Mads is going to keep putting herself first, and I'm so here for it. I cannot wait.
A
Thanks, guys. And look, I have to admit, like, coming here and being with you guys is a really big part of that. I feel like this podcast weirdly healed. Like, I don't know, this part of me and being with you guys and working with really interesting, smart women is such a joy. So thank you. I owe you both and all of the Shameless Media team a lot. Anika, what is your word to summarize? 2025? Because it has by no means been a small year for you.
C
I know it's been huge, you guys, but my word, I Actually had to think long and hard about this is risk. And I feel like both personally and professionally, it's probably been one of the riskiest years that I've just kind of really leant into. We all know I'm so type B, but like, I'm not risk adverse in the slightest. And I think I just really backed myself both personally and professionally to, you know, take those bigger risks and just really lean into my business. I've been so incredibly vulnerable personally. I have told people about my journey and the hope of spreading awareness and just bringing my community together. It was so scary, but I'm so proud that I did it because I just feel a sense of connectedness that I've never felt before. And it's honestly just been one of these years where I've scaled and expanded, I think personally and professionally to the point where I just, I've never that more powerful and what I'm capable of. It's so crazy.
A
It's like been the most incredible thing seeing this from you because I think personally we knew what you were going through and that was so hard for us to watch you go through. And also, you know, we really protected that peace and privacy for you. But I think watching you come through that and realize that by being vulnerable and sharing you would help someone else who was in your position is so inspiring and so important. And I'm so proud of you for that. Like, just incredible. And we have a baby girl.
C
I know we have it. She's literally kicking right now, you guys. I think she really leans into emotion as well. Maybe she's my little empath, but it's just, I think there's so much beauty and vulnerability. You know, working in the fashion industry, it's often smoke and mirrors. People fake it till they make it. They don't tell their true story or reflect, like, sometimes what's actually happening. And I want to make sure I always, you know, remain true to myself. And I, I think, you know, this year has been really good for me in that way.
B
It takes a very strong person to share to the level that you've shared with such a wide audience. Like, it's enough to just share these things with your circle and to talk about the things that you've gone through in the last couple of years, but to share it with thousands of people, that takes a lot of courage to do that. And I think both Mads and I have both beamed with pride just watching you do all of these things. Like, you know, from the bridal podcast that we did, and you Spoke about your wedding so openly and, you know, to the episode that we did did on choosing to have children. And, like, there's just been so many moments. Inherited. Yes. And inherited most recently, of course.
A
God, you really put that vulnerability cloak on girl.
C
I know.
B
The whole year has been about you sharing more of yourself, and that's just been, like, so rewarding to see, but there's so much strength in that vulnerability that you've shared with all of us.
C
Thank you, guys. I love you. I think the shameless media team have created such a safe space for us to actually be able to tell our stories. And, like, I literally feel like sitting here with you guys every week, it's like, that's honestly the biggest joy and comfort I could tell you. My deepest, darkest secrets. Anything that. I mean, I've told you everything already, but it's just. I feel safe here. So thank you both for also allowing me to have that. It's a privilege.
B
It's our pleasure, Jo. My word for 2025, I think, would be convergent, because it was just organized chaos, pretty much. It was, like, honestly trying to get to the end point of having a wedding towards the end of the year. There was a lot going on and trying to also manage just a very busy professional life. Yeah, it was. It was a lot to juggle, but I'm hopeful for a little bit more of a structured 2026 and more growth in those areas, but not a wedding to worry about. So now that that's over, I'm sad that it's over, but also at the same time, like, it's a lot for the brides that are out there planning weddings and about to have a wedding the last few weeks. I was fine up until the last few weeks, and then I was like, whoa, this is actually as stressful as everyone says it is.
A
Are you feeling exhausted now, like, you want to come into that break season, or are you feeling like you're ready to, like, ramp back into 2026?
B
I'm not really the type to, like, let myself relax. I think I need to be as productive as possible. That's just how I tend to function best. And so any downtime that I do have, I really struggle to relax. I think we've spoken about this before, actually.
A
Yeah, I think we might. Yeah. One got none about that one.
B
So I might try and binge, like, a series or something over the break and just give myself a little bit of time off, and then I'm, like, straight back into it. What's the next thing? What's my next focus.
C
You're just a powerhouse judge.
A
You really are.
B
We'll see.
A
I really want 2026. I'm gunning for the robes to come back. I think we've got a full product line that we could do here. So that's what I'm gunning for. For 2026.
B
You'll be pleased to know the robes are already. They're about to be in production. Oh, so winter next year. Yep, winter next year. We are looking to release more robes.
A
We need to do an episode.
B
Maybe I'm gonna have to do mini ones.
C
We have to do mini ones. We need to, like, turn this into a boudoir.
B
Okay. They're not sexy, you know, the ones that I've worn.
C
Yeah, no, I know. I'll try my best to bring sexy back. Yes.
B
But we're doing another color as well, so that's another little. Another little teaser. Okay, so that is our words to sum up 2025. How about 2026? What are we setting as our intention for 2026?
A
Do you know what? I actually really want my word of the year to be vulnerable. And that's very interesting for me because for a long time, I thought vulnerability was really uncool. I did inherit it as well this year. It's probably my first time really dipping my toe into vulnerability. And I was very overwhelmed with the response and everyone's kindness. I mean, I read something the other day and it was like, talking about dating, and it was like, are your standards higher or are you weird walls up? I was like, oh, haven't quite got rid of that one. And I don't mean that just in terms of dating. It was in regards to that. Thanks, TikTok. You've really served me some shitty.
B
I was gonna say, you said, I read something the other day and I was like, was it.
A
I read it on TikTok. I read it on my screen while I was doing scrolling. I said what I said. But I think that I am not always great at asking for help, and I'm getting better at it, but I want to be vulnerable enough to say when I'm coping, when I'm struggling, when I need help, particularly as I launch my business, particularly as I continue to evolve. Maybe it could also have to do with dating. Jo's looking very excited by that prospect.
B
She called the witch.
A
$22.50 has been redeemed. Jo is short 22.50.
B
She's fully booked at the moment, though.
A
Thanks. Last week's listeners. Yeah, yeah. So I would love My word to be and to realize that brave and courageous and confident can all still exist while vulnerability is there.
C
Yeah.
A
And for a long time, I thought they were mutually exclusive, but I know now that vulnerability is a superpower. So that's mine.
C
I'm excited for you.
B
Same.
C
Okay. Wow. Mine kind of is because I'm gonna be a mamacita.
B
Yeah.
C
But 2026, the word is going to be content. And I literally have just. I mean, I've got no choice. I have to lean into slowing down. And like you, Joe, I've never, ever slowed down in my life. I don't think I ever told you guys, but when I was 14, I was really unhappy with the pocket money that I was getting, so I went down to my local mall and I faked my age to get a job at a stationary store.
B
That doesn't surprise me. I got the job.
A
That doesn't shock me one bit.
C
Yeah. I was so stoked and I, like, hustled. I was like, okay, wait, now this is how I'm going to make so money. Anyway, content for me in 2026 is going to be all about just actually leaning into what I know, what I trust. Following my gut a bit more as well. This year, I followed my instincts a lot. Weirdly, they've been right. I've been so focused on scaling, reaching that new high, that new milestone, making more money. And it's always like, kind of looking back now. We've done so incredibly well. Sage just had their best year ever, Which, I'm just saying, I'm so proud and I'm so proud of my team, but now it' just like, I want to get to a place where we are just good. Everyone is happy at work. We're managing enough where all of our clients are happy. We're diving deeper, we're nurturing our relationships. I don't need more. I just want to be at a place where we're truly content. And I think personally, it ties in as well, because for me, that looks like I want to just surround myself with good people. Like, I know who my people are. I'm so fine with my circle being small. I'm so fine with it being cozy. I love just being around good energy and good people. I think that's where I thrive.
A
That is such a great word of and such a great marker of where you'll be next year. Being a mum, being a business owner, balancing those things, being a friend, being a wife, all of it. What a beautiful way to just summarise it.
B
So Succinctly Yeah, I love that one.
C
Thanks, Jojo. What's yours?
B
Mine is expansion.
C
Oh, the opposite of me.
B
Yeah, pretty much. But also, like, I think I'm probably this one step behind you where you've got your ducks in a row. And I'm not quite at that point yet. And I'm such a logical thinker that I can't take next steps until everything's in a row and everything is the way that I think it should be. And that's part of what 2026, I think needs to be for me so I can go to the next stage of my Life. And so 2026 is business expansion, as you guys just heard, and hopefully maybe finding a new house, maybe traveling, just doing things that I want to be doing, but also growing while doing those things.
A
So I love how like casually you just said getting a new house, traveling, building a business. I'm like, I am tired for your 2026. But you are such an ambitious person. It makes so much. Like, I'm not at all surprised that you're. I would have guessed accelerate, drive. Like, it would have been something along those lines.
C
I agree.
A
You are clever. I feel like every time we leave here and we're in the car park, we're always talking about what you could do next or more of. And you know, like, I'm so excited for you.
C
Yeah. I'm inspired by your ambition and I think if anyone can do it, it's so you. Like, I just know next year is just going to be huge for you and I'm very excited to watch this journey. I'll sprinkle some of my like type B, I don't know, just on you.
A
Yeah.
C
Yes, sprinkle it.
B
Because I am also very risk averse, but I think I'm getting better at that as I age a little bit, I think. But the tarot reader on my hands did say. What word did she use? It wasn't prosperity, it was something else, but it, it indicated to me that things were going to go relatively well. So that made me feel a little bit more confident.
A
Can you also imagine if she sat there and said, doom and gloom for you at your own hands? Not yet.
B
Yeah, she probably knew she couldn't go down that path. Well, I was the one in the.
A
White dress, so prosperity is great. Tick, tick, tick.
B
Next, we're going to share our guide to the holidays. But that will be right after a word from today's sponsor.

A
So the holiday season is well and truly upon us and we thought that it might be worth sharing a bit of a guide to the holiday period. We're going to each touch on a different part of the holidays and a little piece of advice I'm going to share my advice for dealing with those annoying questions from family members about your relationship status. Jo is going to share her best holiday sun safety tips like we're surprised. And Annika is going to share how she navigates homesickness as a Kiwi living here in Australia. I'm gonna kick things off. Being single in the holiday season is shit. I'm not even gonna sugarcoat it. I would say for 360 days of the year, I do not feel at all alone. There is not an ounce of it. I have friendship, family, love and connection in abundance. The days from probably the 25th to the 1st are the worst. Yeah, I loathe them. I find them really lonely. I find questions about what you're doing in the holiday period really daunting. And I have, I mean I have since I've become single. It's just as simple as that. My advice, if you have that smart ass uncle or that annoying aunt, is to come up with what I would call in marketing world a PR statement.
C
Oh, here we go.
A
So you need just a blanket statement now? Maybe after five champagnes. Don't say, well, why would I want a husband when you and yours only ever fight. But just something along the lines of no, but I did manage to get that promotion and da da da da da. Yeah, so I'm a little facetious back if I'm asked it and quizzed it because I'm like, really? Of all the things I've done this year, what you want to know the most about is whether I have a boyfriend. Yeah, not so that's my advice is to come up with a personal PR statement. You could do it yourself. You could chat to the robots, have them come up with something for you. You might say, hey chatgpt, make this 20% sassier. You might say, hey chatgpt, make this 20% nicer, depending on how you're feeling. And my other piece of advice is, and I am so grateful to all of the special people in my life that do this, is if you know that someone is single this holiday season reason or you know that everyone kind of naturally gravitates with their partner to going and visit family and friends or whatnot, that you include them or that you just at the very least check in on them and organizing like a friend's Christmas Eve drinks or a Christmas night drinks with friends, sometimes just those things make it feel a little lighter. So a couple of friends and I are going to have a drink together on Christmas night after we've done the family thing because it, yeah, can be really lonely.
B
Anna can.
A
What's your top tip for not the Kiwis, just anyone feeling a little homesick.
C
I feel like I tie into yours because it's. For me, the holidays are about connectedness and coming together and celebrating it with your community, whatever that looks like. And obviously coming from New Zealand, it means both James and I do often miss some family Christmases. And now we've got my beautiful little niece Yuri in the picture as well. It means mum will be back home with my brother and celebrating with him. So something actually that my parents started as a traditional when they lived in Melbourne. They grew up at the rugby club and the rugby club was their community. And so every year they would host a Christmas together and they would all come together, anyone was invited, Tom, Dick and Harry, like, it was like kind of my dad's motto. And so now we've always grown up with an open door policy at our house. And my mum would be like, anyone who's alone, it doesn't matter if it's your friend, cousin, school friend, anybody, your teacher even, they're always welcome. And so it's something that James and I have continued and so this year we hosting Christmas. I'm not doing a thing. James is hosting Christmas.
B
I'll say, great, he forgot the tree.
C
You'll be. We'll have a twig. Well, we'll have the spray.
A
We'll have the spray house spray and a diptyque.
C
Yeah, it'll be beautiful. But yeah, we've just created, I think, a time where anyone is welcome and we often feel homesick and it's like, I think when some of my fondest memories are like around the Christmas tree at home. Growing up Especially like the dad not here. And so we try to have little moments where we reflect. Like I always light a candle for dad. We'll always make sure we check in on our people. We'll always just show up for each other 1,000%. But I think just going back to that. Show up for people if you know people alone. Exactly. Like what Mad said, it doesn't matter. Christmas is a time to come together. Spend it with your loved ones or any community.
B
Yeah.
A
And I think as well there's like a home sickness isn't just not being somewhere. Home sickness can sometimes be for a person.
C
Yeah.
A
This is like the first Christmas I've probably had any joy around Christmas time since I lost my grandmother in 2016. Like, I really didn't love celebrating Christmas following her passing because she was a big part of our family. Christmas every year. I think sometimes people can feel homesick for a person or a time, you know, as you said, you know, missing your dad and wanting to light a candle for him and maybe it's having their favorite drink or being, you know, in that reminder that you're lucky to have had them and have that little moment. But I think it's checking in on people who've lost someone as well.
C
For sure.
A
Yeah.
B
And even if you are juggling a very busy schedule, schedule on Christmas Day where you're trying to get to three different family commitments, even that friend that you know may be having a more difficult Christmas this year. Even just sending a text message or giving them a quick call in the morning.
C
Yeah.
B
Just to wish them merry Christmas. Like that could be, you know, the thing that makes their day and makes them feel heard and seen and loved.
A
1000.
B
My tip is very different to yours because it's a little bit more practical, something that we can apply in our lives.
A
It's on brand though, isn't it?
B
So what I wanted to recommend was investing in sun safety accessories that you actually want to wear this summer. Now, obviously I like to promote sun safety year round by wearing sunscreen every day, but a lot of us are going to be spending a lot more time in the sun and under the harsh UV that we have here in Australia. So. So I have several hats from brands like Avenue the label. So do recommend going having a little browse there. Solbari have some really good hats as well. UPF Fabric Cancer Council. Soleil. Soleil who? One of your brands, Annika Proud Mommy. What a lot of people probably don't realize about sunglasses is something that I actually wanted to talk about today because a Lot of our fashion sunglasses and the ones that you make may find in, like, fast fashion retailers don't meet Australian standards when it comes to, like, classifications of sunglasses. So what you should be looking for, for sunglasses that you're going to wear day in, day out and getting prolonged sun exposure while wearing. So, for example, if you're spending all day on a golf course or you're at the beach, you really should be opting for a pair of sunglasses that meet these standards. And that would be sunglasses that a character writes. Category two, three and four. So I'd probably be looking for three and fours. You can find sunglasses by brands like Loveloo. I've got several pairs of their sunglasses. They've got a lot of category 3 sunglasses. Other brands like Oscar, Wiley, Bailey, Nelson, a lot of them have category three sunglasses as well. Category four, you'll more find in, like, the Cancer Council ones, but they have a lot of category three as well. But if something is labeled fashion sunglasses or they don't feature the category on the product page or on the swing tag, then red flag.
A
Yeah.
B
And look, you may want to wear them just to an event or. Yeah, you're going to. You're going to be not really using them for sun safety.
A
Serving a look.
B
Exactly. If you're serving a look and it's part of the outfit and you're not going to be, you know, getting a lot of sun exposure, then, yeah, you can probably get away with them. But throughout the summer, when we're getting a lot of sun exposure, you really should consider those things because wearing both a broad brim hat and sunglasses can reduce UV radiation to the eyes by up to 98%, according to SunSmart.
A
Wow.
B
So that's significant. Like, you see signs of sun damage in the eyes. I don't know if you've ever seen pterygiums in people's eyes where we've got a little bit of, like, overgrowth onto the iris of the eye. That's a sign of sun damage on the eye. See it on a lot of surfers.
A
Annika looks horrifying.
B
Yeah, there's a lot of that. No, definitely. There are a lot of types of sun damage that can occur to the eye, which you may not even put two and two together and be like, oh, that's sun damage. But it's really important that we protect our eyes because obviously our vision is. Is so super important. So just one thing I thought I would flag before the summer period really kicks off.
C
Thank you, Jo. We needed that.
A
Thank you.
C
You're welcome.
B
Anytime, anytime you guys want to talk about sunset.
A
Quite literally anytime we want to talk about color analysis or sun safety.
B
Okay. So that takes us to our final segment of our episode, which is our holy grail beauty items of 2025. This is difficult to do. I'm not gonna lie.
A
Oh, my God. Especially for the makeup category because I looked after an entire makeup category. One is like asking to pick a favorite child.
B
Yeah.
A
Don't have children. But I imagine that's very hard task.
C
It was so hard because we all swap in something every week. And like I'm sitting here adding to cart like a crazy person that I've tried so many products this year that I was like, okay, so before I.
B
Throw to you Annika, to start us off, we've each chosen our holy grail product of this year for the skincare, hair care, and makeup categories. And we're going to share why it's changed our routines for the better. And I fear there may be some double up with previous swaps.
C
There will be.
B
So kick us off.
C
Okay. So my skin care product that I am obsessed with was actually introduced to me by my best friend Nikki, and she used this throughout her pregnancy and swears by it. So she kindly gifted it to me. And now I'm addicted to the point where it's so expensive. I will live on tuna and rice just so I can incorporate this into my routine. But it is the Augustinus Beta, the body cream. Now it's $310 a pot.
A
It's expensive, but my body would never be so lucky.
C
Oh, my God.
B
You go through it.
C
I'm on my second pot and I'm at 27 weeks. And I started using it at maybe 14 weeks. So you did the math.
B
Okay.
C
Yep, a while. But I only use it on my stomach, which is growing. My boobs also growing. And then my thighs.
B
Okay.
C
So all of these kind of areas where you're likely to stretch and grow. Yeah, Obsessed.
B
Can I do you a favor and just suggest you try something as an alternative?
C
Absolutely, absolutely.
B
The Naturium multi oil body butter. I love it.
A
Why? It's cheaper than koi got there.
B
Why A bit cheaper.
C
Okay, where can I get it from?
B
Sephora.
C
Sephora, okay.
A
Which Jo did predict was going into Sephora.
C
I did mention.
B
Yeah.
C
I mean, she knows a thing I'd like to.
B
Maybe you just try it.
C
Okay, I'll give it a go.
B
If you don't love as much as the Augustine Espada, then you can always go back to it. But just trying to help you out.
C
Thank you. My bank account thanks you. So does James Palmer.
A
So does your fridge. Thank God we can have something other than Junior, right?
B
Okay. Okay. So, Mads, do you want to give us your skincare one?
A
Yeah. This is really hard. I put two down, and I know that I can't cheat, and I have to pick one, my greedy little girl. Like, which one will I pick? I'm gonna go with the one that I've been using the longest. It is the rationale number one serum. And I went and had a facial with Rationale at the start of this year. I also go to Skin angel on High Straight Namadale. Angelina also uses rationale within my facials, and I'd used it years ago when I had really terrible cystic acne. Started having a couple of breakouts. I mean, the irony that I've also got a couple of breakouts still, but, you know, that's life. It's one of those products that you go, why did I ever stop using this? And it probably was because I'd gone back to working at Mecca, had 40 off. Naturally. It's, like, quite hard to justify any other beauty purchase when you've got 40 off, you know, a skin skincare category and an abundance of amazing skincare brands. But I have really enjoyed using that. I just use it in the mornings. It's just made up of a great amount of B vitamins. It's super nourishing. I just feel like it really hydrates my skin, but also helps just deal with some of that inflammation and anger that can come from a little breakup.
B
It's very antioxidant. Rich Adrian actually stole this from me, and he still uses it. He loves Russian olive oil.
C
He's got great skin. She noticed it at the winner.
A
Did you?
B
Thank you so much.
A
So proud.
B
Yeah. A lot of people complimented on the day, and I was like, thank you so much. This means a lot to me.
C
This is my project.
A
Like a proud parent.
B
Well, speaking of the wedding day, my skincare pick is actually a repeat recent swap, which is the Rejuran turnover sheet mask.
A
I did see you did these. Was it the morning of or the night before?
B
We did them the morning of.
A
So amazing.
B
I intended to maybe do them the night before, and then I was like, actually. Actually, I got a fair bit of time in the morning. I'm gonna do it in the morning because my skin tends to look like really quenched after I use them. So I put them on both of us the morning of. We did LED the night before, and then we Put the sheet masks on the morning of. And everyone in the venue was like, whoa. Because I was just walking around like.
A
Hey, I love it.
C
I love it so much.
B
Scaring people, but very soothing, very hydrating. Obviously, it was great for skin, probably prep as well. So, yeah, no complaints. And everyone was saying Adrian's skin looked amazing.
C
So you both looked phenomenal. But you honestly, like, we're radiating on that day, like, oh, my goodness, meds. And I looked at you, and we're just like, look at our sweet child. Like, we're literally giving her away. Look at this glowing goddess.
A
I mean, Sophia, your makeup artist, she just swap her in and she. Well, I mean, just swap her in and jump like one. Like everything. She wears great. Her makeup, great. She's actually also great at doing her own blow waves, so she's really lovely. What can't you do, Sophia?
C
Yeah, what can't.
A
She walked over to us and she just goes, it's f cked. She looks f ed up.
B
You know what she said to me on the day? I had this video of her doing my makeup because I filmed it, and she was like, you look fcking glad wrapped.
A
She did say that to us as well.
B
So that's our skincare selections. What about makeup?
C
Okay, well, this is where I go low. I have become addicted to lip liner. 2025 for me was, like, the year that I discovered a lip liner. I know. I live under a rock. We get it.
B
Whatever, Boomer.
C
Okay.
A
But did you just neg yourself?
B
We never said that.
C
A self aware queen. Anyway. Mecca Max Pout Pencil in. Classy is my holy grail. And I say this, like, every time I lose it. I feel lost without it. Like, I am so obsessed with this product. You can pair it with Mac Velvet Teddy for, like, a really nice evening look. Or during the day, you can do it with the summer Fridays balm or even like, the league balm and just clear. And it kind of gives, like, a really natural looking look.
A
Lip.
C
I am obsessed.
A
I love that.
C
16 at Mecca.
A
Off you go. You know what? If 2025 was the year of lip liner for you, I was also going to swap in a lip liner. But let's spice things up. 2025 was the year of eyeliner for me.
C
And gosh, do you look good.
A
I love eyeliner.
C
Oh, yeah, you bring 60 back.
A
I just think everyone needs to wear eyeliner. Rhiannon. Joyce. I'm looking at you because I usually attack her.
B
Yeah.
A
Whenever she's wearing an eyeliner, I'm like, perfect.
C
I've actually never seen her with eyeliner.
A
No, she looks really good with eyeliner.
B
She looks so good with eyeliner.
C
Let's make those eyes pop.
A
Y She's got the most beautiful base for an eyeliner too. Anyway, you know how I feel about tight lining. I love a tight line, so the hourglass 1.5 millimeter mechanical liners are my favorite. For tight lining, I do the black. A lot of people go, oh, do you get the black or the brown? I don't notice a substantial color difference between the two, if I'm completely honest. And I just think if I'm doing it, I'm doing it unapologetically and applying it. See what I did there?
B
Love what you did there. Can I throw in a bonus, like eyeliner swap for you? I had really moved away from liquid eyeliners for a really long time, but then I got my hands on the Mia Connor liquid liner. It's like a pen, and it's in the shade Bruna. It's a brown, but, like a warm brown. I'm actually wearing it today.
A
It looks beautiful.
B
So really, it does not like a charcoal y brown, where it's super dark. You can't tell the difference between black and brown. It's, like, noticeably brown.
A
Yeah.
B
And it's just a bit lighter and softer. And so I feel like for daytime, I can add these really nice wings on without it seeming like evening makeup. My makeup swap is actually a MST recommendation, and it is Tower 28 Serum Concealer. I have the shade DTLA. I just find this is a really beautiful formula. It's not super expensive. It's $38. So in comparison with some other concealers on the market, we know that's certainly not the most expensive expensive. It's quite light coverage. I'd say it's buildable. There's a pretty good shade range, I would say. And it's a really nice formula.
C
I'm wearing it today too.
B
Are you?
C
Yeah. Mst. Thanks.
A
What's up, Razor? May I offer you a tidbit about that concealer? Now, I've said on the mic before, I did do a project with Tower 28, so I do have a natural affinity for this brand, but I loved this brand before I was working with them. Amy actually developed. Amy Lou, the brand founder, actually developed that brand for eczema sufferers, so she's one as well. So anyone who does experience eczema under the eye area or around the face, I can't recommend enough that this is a concealer that you can trust with sensitive skin. So that is just a little tidbit if anyone's going because I am prone to a little bit of eczema under the eye at certain times of the year. It's just a nice lightweight, like, hydrating concealer. Really good for that area.
B
Yeah, this is a great concealer.
C
She's got my vot hair care. Let's go.
B
You got another expensive one for us?
C
No, you guys are just going to be like, oh my God, this one. So on one of my late night doom scrolls, I may have been served a lot of hair inspired tools devices. It actually might have been from sitting in here on my phone listening to me. But anyway, the Taimo ring Plus, have you guys even heard of this brand?
A
No.
B
What is this?
A
Can I do a quick Google?
B
You can. It's going to send you ring.
C
So literally, I was spammed by Instagram and the slide came up of this woman doing her hair. And one side was like super curly, like afro, like, and then the other side was sleek. I know, I know. It's so rogue, you guys.
B
So it's like a hot brush.
C
It's like a hot brush and I kid you not, my hair is a fro naturally. Like, this is so curly. It's coarse. It's a mane.
B
Yeah.
C
I literally put this through my hair and it is so straight, it's not even funny.
B
Really?
C
Yes.
A
Really good reviews.
C
Like, have I given a review?
B
What temperature does it go up to?
A
Me.
C
Well, that's what makes it even more amazing because.
A
Go on, go on.
C
Literally. So it's for international Voltage. So you know when you travel and.
B
Your tools don't work?
A
I mean.
C
Yeah, so my tools never work when I travel. It's so annoying. This. It just heated up in New York, in Paris, in Italy, in Australia.
A
We get it. You travel.
C
I know. Okay. Brat.
B
Okay, Mr. Wallace, like this.
C
This product is $109. Probably like these always, like, buy one, get one free. 30%, 40%.
A
So it's actually $119.99 today.
C
Okay, well, yesterday.
B
And they're gonna be using this as their next ad.
A
It goes from 120 degrees Celsius to 210 degrees Celsius, has nine temperatures.
C
And I think it's got a ceramic plating. So it's good for your hair, right? Sure, sure. But anyway, it's amazing. It took me like 10 minutes to do my hair with this and it. I've like put away my hair straightener and I use this and I travel with this and it's so compact and small.
B
It'.
A
I'm so sorry that I laughed at you because I'm absolutely going to buy that for Coachella.
C
Everybody was laughing at me. Like, the girls at work were like, you did not just buy that. Like, you did not buy the Instagram ad. And I was like, come on, guys.
B
Like, would you have normally used a straightener?
C
Yeah. So I usually have to blow dry my hair and then I've got to straighten it, and it's generally like an hour to an hour and a half for me. Like, it's such an ordeal.
B
Yeah, Appreciate that one. You're welcome, Mads.
A
Mine. Mine is to address the many messages I get about my sleep bun.
C
Oh, yes, good one.
A
Now, my slick bun, otherwise known as Slick Rick, is actually never really the same combo. And I'm very passionate about my slick buns. So I just thought I'd give like a couple of products that I use to get it in there. So I usually alternate between Olaplex number three, that I use to bond the hair. So it's like a hair mask while I've got the bun in. Or I use 11 pomade, which I've spoken about before, but religiously. The one hairspray that like, makes it stick is nac, which I don't know if you guys have heard of NAC hair care before. They. I think they're at Hair House. It's a relatively inexpensive hairspray and that sticks.
C
Okay, I need that.
B
So that's like. I never use hairspray for my slick hair. What?
A
Yeah, See if I use the Olaplex. Oh, and the l' Oreal Ray got me onto this metal or metal detox. Yeah, that's a great one. One as well.
B
Yeah. I'll often use the Redken ABC Leave in treatment.
A
Love this.
B
Put that in. And then I use the People Hair Care stick.
A
Yes.
B
That looks like a deodorant.
C
You can get it at Coles.
B
Yeah, I've done that as a swap before.
A
Yes, you have.
B
And I just do that. And I don't need hairspray.
C
I love this char. What's yours?
B
No surprises here. K18.
C
Oh, yes. Yes.
B
Air Wash Dry Shampoo.
A
I didn't put that aside mine, cuz you had it in.
B
Oh, well, I'm glad. I bet you to it.
A
Yeah, but no, that if you hadn't, I would have said.
B
But I didn't influence you on that.
A
You did.
B
Yes. And Miranda as well.
C
I bought it too.
B
Yeah. It's just. It's a great dry shampoo. Honestly, it's the best dry shampoo I've ever used, and it's absolutely worth the expensive price point. I'm sorry, but it is.
C
It works.
B
And in fine hair that I find I'm having to wash more and more frequently.
C
Yeah.
B
It is just so, so handy. So, yeah, highly recommend.
C
When it takes you, like, an hour and a half to do your hair, I'm like, any investment, I'm like, this is worth it. Money well spent.
B
Yeah. And I often find the day after using it as well, it looks even better.
A
Yeah.
B
How is it not dirty again? Whereas other dry shampoos you put in, it lasts an hour, and then it's a grease ball again.
A
It doesn't feel amazing, but that's okay. Most beauty things don't feel amazing, but they look good.
B
I don't think, in general, dry shampoos feel amazing ever. They all kind of feel a little bit.
A
I do feel it has, like, a different texture to it, though.
B
Oh, you reckon?
A
Yeah. Oh, Maddie's hot take. Hey, I'm not here to diss it. I love it. I mean, so hard to pick a favorite in each of those categories. And so hard to know that this is actually the final Wednesday episode.
B
I think it's rich to say it was hard to find a. We literally gave multiple swaps around that.
A
We cheated. Yeah, we absolutely cheated. We're liars. When we said that we would only do. Do one. But that is actually all for this week's episode of Stylish. This year of Wild Wednesday episodes of Stylish. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you so much for joining us and tuning in every Wednesday. Slowly but surely, this community has continued to evolve and to grow. And, you know, we appreciate every single one of you who listen. And thank you so much for the two of you. You. C
We have.
B
And you, Mads, couldn't do it without you. And we couldn't do without our audience. So we thank you all for listening every week. And we love being here chatting to you, with you every week.
C
Yeah.
A
I like to say with.
C
We love you guys. When you come up and say hi and introduce yourselves, I still like it. Like, I blush. I get a little shy.
A
I get so embarrassed.
C
I know.
A
And I've only just learned to stop saying, I'm so sorry. Sorry. I listened. I walked past a lady the other day walking her dog, and she was like, mads, you're literally in my ears. And I said, I'm so sorry. Instead of saying thank you.
C
It's just so cool, like, and I feel like knowing that we're reaching out to people all over the globe, like, that's what really just, I don't know, amazes me every time. Even, like, when I was traveling earlier this year and I was in Italy, in the south of France, I had people come up to me being like, we love what you guys are doing over at Stylist. Shout out to Medihopclick, actually from New Zealand. Loved your intro on the weekend. I heard a lot about you. Thank you for tuning in, but no, we love you guys. We love our community and we love.
