K Pop Demon Hunters, Saja Boy's Breakfast Meal and Hunt Tricks meal have just dropped at McDonald's. They're calling this a battle for the fans.
Myron Metcalf
What do you say to that, Rumi?
Ad
It's not a battle. So glad the Saja Boys could take breakfast and give our meal the rest of the day.
Matt Jones
It is an honor to share.
Ad
No, it's our honor.
Matt Jones
It is our larger honor.
Myron Metcalf
No, really, stop.
Ad
You can really feel the respect in this battle. Pick a meal to pick a side.
Myron Metcalf
Ba da ba ba ba.
Matt Jones
And participate in McDonald's while supplies last.
Myron Metcalf
This is Matt and Myron, the podcast.
Matt Jones
It is Matt Myron here on ESPN Radio Sunday morning presented by Progressive Insurance. I'm Matt Jones. After a three week hiatus, which made a lot of sense since Myron Metcalf is the college basketball reporter, it would make sense that he would miss this show about college basketball for three weeks. But he's back now. And Myron, I hope you enjoyed the Final Four and all of your travels around the college baske.
Myron Metcalf
Yeah, it was, it was wild, man. I mean, 16 days in a row on, on the road straight three cities. So it was, it was cool, man, but also glad to be back home.
Matt Jones
Yeah, you got to be Ms. Jim Calhoun was here. We got to hear that really thick Connecticut accent on the radio. He and I had a hard time. We, I don't think we understood each other. We needed a translator, but, but he was good. And now we're here. And today we have sports broadcasting royalty joining us. Rich Eisen is going to join us later. I'm very excited. I've never, I've never really spoken to Rich Eisen and I'm, you know, he said, allegedly a co worker. So I'm kind of excited.
Myron Metcalf
I'm excited. I mean, I don't think I've met Rich Eisen. I'm trying to think if he was, is here. When I was here back in 2011,
Matt Jones
y' all weren't hanging out either way, right?
Myron Metcalf
Well, I mean, you know, back in those days, you went to Bristol and everybody was hanging around. So I don't remember if he was there then or not, but he is.
Matt Jones
He is going to be hosting Sports center tonight. That's right. A special, special throwback edition of SportsCenter. Rich Eisen is gonna be in the, in, in the hot seat and that should be very exciting. So he's gonna join us a little later, 12:30 today on this show. But let's start off the top. What are we thinking about? I'm trying to think but nothing happens. Nothing happens.
Myron Metcalf
It's time to find out. This is off the top. Flash.
Matt Jones
Off the top with Matt and Myron. All right. So, Myron, I was sitting here thinking last night as I was thinking about show topics. You can make a strong argument that right where we're in right now, like this little couple weeks period, is maybe the busiest time in sports of the year because there are more different sports at key, key moments of their existence than now. So I just want to go through a few of these with you and see if you agree with me. Obviously, the Masters. Is today the final day of the Masters? Crowded leaderboard, final fake bird noises. Are you excited about the final round of the Masters?
Myron Metcalf
Yeah, I am, but. But I hate that I'm watching for the same reason everybody else is watching, to see if Roy's going to collapse and blow the biggest lead ever after two rounds.
Matt Jones
So not the biggest lead ever. You.
Myron Metcalf
The largest lead. It was the largest lead after 36.
Matt Jones
Two rounds.
Myron Metcalf
That's what I said.
Matt Jones
We'll talk about this later. But you have some sort of fetish for wanting to see Rory fail. Why do you. Most of us want Rory to win. You realize most of the golfing world roots for roar. You know that, right?
Myron Metcalf
Don't use the word like fetish. First off. Don't. Don't use that word.
Matt Jones
Okay. Sorry. It's Sunday morning.
Myron Metcalf
I'm. I'm not a. I don't want to see Rory. I just. You do wonder if he's going to put himself in this position.
Matt Jones
He won last year.
Myron Metcalf
I get it. But the. But the ghost is still there in a moment like this. He, he, himself, even.
Matt Jones
He won the career grand slam last year. He's good. So. So I. To me, it's more. Can you. Can you get a second. A second bite of excitement for Rory? So that's today. Now that you also have. Today is the final day of the NBA regular season, thankfully, after it seemed like it would never end for two or three months of tanking. Are you glad to now get into playoff time?
Myron Metcalf
You said thankfully the NBA is over. Like what?
Matt Jones
The regular season has been a miserable slog these last six weeks.
Myron Metcalf
I've loved it. Tanking. The tanking talk has been overblown.
Matt Jones
And.
Myron Metcalf
And to me, I don't blame any team. I'm pro Tank.
Matt Jones
What about the game the other night where every spread, Every was like 20 points.
Myron Metcalf
What do you want him to do?
Matt Jones
This is not trying to solve tanking. I'm just saying as a viewer, it's a miserable Experience?
Myron Metcalf
Yeah. I don't feel like that because I don't think it's as many teams as people are suggesting. And I think at the top, when you tell me guys like Wimby could be on the verge of taking over the NBA. I've been excited to watch the young stars come through.
Matt Jones
I have. I've hated the games in the last six weeks. I'm very excited for the playoffs for the reason you're talking about. I'm excited to see Wimby and Yic and Shay and all that. But when it comes to the end of the regular season. And by the way, I'm not alone, they're about to change these rules because of how bad this season has been. So, I mean, this league, it won't be like this next year, but it is. I think it's objectively fair to say it's been a miserable last six to eight weeks of the season. There'll be one game on a night that's even competitive for the bad teams.
Myron Metcalf
We're talking about.
Matt Jones
There's too many bad teams.
Myron Metcalf
Well, but that's a whole nother thing. We're talking about bad teams putting themselves in a position to try to get better ultimately. And people are acting like, oh, no, if the Utah Jazz really tried, they.
Matt Jones
But, I mean, are you enjoying it? That's not. My question is whether or not it makes sense. Are you enjoying these games?
Myron Metcalf
They're not the. They're not the main course for me. They're. They're. They're an appetizer. You eat, and then you go on and eat the regular meal. That's how I see it.
Matt Jones
Mine likes. Just so everybody knows, this is Meyer Metcalfe's first two stances today. He wants to watch a grown man be sad and choke, and he wants to watch bad teams not try to win. There's your start to my Metcalf Sunday takes.
Myron Metcalf
No, you. You don't think I know enough about golf to talk about Rory? That was your take, I believe you told me, don't talk about golf because you don't know anything about essentially what you said. What you said you like bringing me in for the tiger segment. And then I start talking about Ro and you get a little ant. All right, now we go to the NBA, and all I'm saying is I haven't paid attention to the taking the way everyone else has. I've been too busy watching the stars of the league, and I've been enjoying it.
Matt Jones
All right, we're also. We finished the hockey regular season this Week. I'm not. I'm sure that's not as exciting, but we got the Avalanche in the West. My Carolina Hurricanes in the east are the favorites. College basketball crowned its national champion on Monday night with Michigan Yukon. Not a great game, but I would say, Myron, a great tournament. Would you agree with that?
Myron Metcalf
Really, really good tournament. Final Four, not as great as past Final Fours, but I think the overall tournament was great.
Matt Jones
Yeah. And, and you know, the tournament gave us two moments, maybe three that will live in, in NCAA tournament history. Obviously, the Braylon Mullins one's the big one, but the Otega away shot for Kentucky against Santa Clara and then the St. John's layup against Kansas, I think you could argue those are three moments that'll be on historic NCAA Tournaments shows.
Myron Metcalf
Yeah, we have some great, incredible finishes. I mean, Braylon mullens will be 100 years from now. People be talking about that shot. But it was fun. We had some fun finishes.
Matt Jones
And then you've got the NFL draft coming in what, about 10 days? Not a ton of excitement about that, but it is coming. Are you getting draft fever? Have you been putting your inner Kuiper on?
Myron Metcalf
Well, I mean, to me, you usually get more excited when you have a bunch of quarterbacks at the top. And this is, I think, the first year and what feels like forever where you haven't had four or five potential first round picks at quarterback. But it's always fun to watch the draft.
Matt Jones
For me, yeah, I'm looking forward to it. It is also spring practice for people who are college football aficionados. The college basketball portal opened. Myron. There are 3,900 players in college basketball who have eligibility to come back for another year. And at this point, 2000, 50 of the players are in the port. So over half the players right now are in the portal. Do you like that?
Myron Metcalf
I mean, I just accept it, you know, so I don't get caught up in pro or. To me, it's, it's the culture now. And I understand why most guys want to try to move on. Here's my problem. 50 to 75 of those guys actually matter. If we're going to be honest in terms of guys who could impact, impact the landscape a college basketball. Uh, so we bring up these giant numbers. But, Matt, how many guys are we actually gonna be talking about a year from now? Not many, Not a ton.
Matt Jones
I agree with that. I enjoy it, but I kind of enjoy chaos. And I like the idea, if I'd had a chance in college to go to four different colleges over the four years and each time be recruited. I actually think that would be kind of fun. Can you imagine? I mean, a lot of people probably went. What's the college you went to?
Myron Metcalf
Minnesota State University.
Matt Jones
Okay, so what? Okay, Minnesota State University, Mankato, which is way too many for a school. If you had had a chance for a year to go to Arizona State or maybe even Yale, like, if, if Myron could have gotten his four colleges on, wouldn't you wanted to do that?
Myron Metcalf
I don't know. You got to. Yeah, I don't think I'd enjoy Yale. Yeah. Would have been ready.
Matt Jones
Well, you wouldn't have got in. That's a big part.
Myron Metcalf
No, I mean, I, I, I get in the. In terms of. You get paid at every stop. Yeah, I would have bounced around if I had that opportunity. And then the cool thing is, once you're done with college, you can pick to stay affiliated with the school that you like the most.
Matt Jones
Like, it's true.
Myron Metcalf
Like, it's exactly. If one school is struggling for a while to stay away from them, and then all of a sudden they start winning again, show up 10 years later, you're like, true.
Matt Jones
You have four chances to be in the alumni section of games. Right. You could go, you could go to all of them. And then finally, last night was a UFC fight. You know my theory about ufc, which is, I think it never stops. There's a fight every weekend and it's like. And they just give random numbers to it. What was the one last night? Uf. What?
Myron Metcalf
Carlos Oberg.
Matt Jones
What was the number? What Was the number?
Myron Metcalf
327.
Matt Jones
How long are they gonna go with this in terms of, like, how many numbers before you have to reset?
Myron Metcalf
I think they're gonna do it forever. You know, I mean, I don't think
Matt Jones
there's any, any reason to WrestleMania 2000 or not stop. But, you know, UFC 2612, they're getting
Myron Metcalf
ready to fight on the White House lawn. That, that's official now. So that's going to be a whole, whole thing.
Matt Jones
Are you gonna go to that? That feels like your kind of event.
Myron Metcalf
I watch maybe from home, that particular event. But have you seen the guy, the hokit guy? Did you see him?
Matt Jones
I don't, I never see it.
Myron Metcalf
This guy, Josh Hokut.
Matt Jones
Yeah.
Myron Metcalf
Who was essentially doing cosplay all week, so he wouldn't present. He wasn't doing any press conferences in as himself. He was only doing in character. And one of his characters was Macho Man. You should check it out.
Matt Jones
Like, he, like, you just Used a lot of words that feel like they're for Comic Con. He was doing cosplay.
Myron Metcalf
Well, he was pretending to be.
Matt Jones
What does that mean?
Myron Metcalf
Well, he was pretending to be Macho Man, Randy Savage.
Matt Jones
So he was. So wait a minute. So he was dressing up?
Myron Metcalf
Yeah, he had the bandana and then he was talking like him.
Matt Jones
So he was going. Oh, yeah, he was doing that?
Myron Metcalf
Yes, during the. During official media events.
Matt Jones
Okay.
Myron Metcalf
Like, he was doing it like he wouldn't come out of character. And the people on stage were like, is he for real? And he just. He was doing. What do you call that thing? K. Fob. Right.
Matt Jones
KFAB. K5 is what you have on your car so you can open your garage.
Myron Metcalf
Key fob and kayfabe messed up. But he wouldn't come out of character.
Matt Jones
All right, you're already boring me about this. I do like that he was doing. Yeah, I do like that he was doing the Macho Man. Who won? What was the big fight last night? Who won?
Myron Metcalf
Oldberg and Prochaska. And Oldberg probably tore his ACL and still got the knockout win. Still one.
Matt Jones
Congratulations to Goldberg. And that. That is a ton of things happening in sports right now. And that's why April, and to some extent May, is one of my favorite times of years for sports. Rory McElroy. Myron wants to see him lose, which is very unfortunate. I want to see him win. I want to see joy. But either way, it'll be compelling. That's next here. I'm Matt Myron on ESPN Radio

Matt and Myron the Podcast Matt Myron on ESPN Radio presented by Progressive Insurance. That's the song is dedicated to Myron Metcalf because he is watching the Masters today to see if Rory can lose. I on the other hand am very excited that Sunday at the Masters is the best day to nap. You guys got to turn that music down. It is very hard to hear it

thought when I think your headphones are too loud.
Matt Jones
That was so low.
Myron Metcalf
Is that group foreign? Is that the name of the group Foreign?
Ad
Yes, that was Foreign by the way.
Matt Jones
So. So anyway, I got that right.
Myron Metcalf
You didn't give me credit that I got the group right, that it was foreign.
Matt Jones
That's good. All right, so Cam Young and Roy McElroy are tied for the top at 11, under Sam Burns is at 10, Shane Lowry, Jason Day, Justin Rose and Scotty Scheffler right below him. That is a heck of a seven. Top seven on the leaderboards. Matter of fact, if you're looking at Masters leaders boards you can't do in today's game much better than that group. Cam Young. Rory had a six shot lead going into yesterday. He shoots one over. But everybody else, especially early in the day, the course was there for the taking and guys took it. And now this is a bunched up leaderboard. If you had asked Roy McElroy going into the tournament, would you like to be tied for the lead going into the final day, he probably would have said yes. But if you had asked him after round two, when he was up six, he would go, that's probably a failure. So what mindset, Myron, does he take into the final round at Augusta today?
Myron Metcalf
He lacks confidence. I mean, if you. Listen, I'm just telling you what he said. Can I tell you what he said? Since you don't think I'm following anything? Let me tell you what he said so you can understand. He said two things that should be concerning to any Rory McElroy fan. He said, if you come out here and quote, you're not feeling it, the course will punish you. He said, I have to remember, quote, that I already have a green jacket. This is a guy who was haunted by these demons. You can talk about last year all you want. He himself is thinking the same thing that so many fans are thinking about. That's not ex, that's not hoping for doom. That's going, oh my goodness, this is the Rory who, who has fought against this narrative for so many years. And now here he is again. If he blows the biggest lead ever after two rounds, that's going to stick.
Matt Jones
Yeah, see I read those quotes, at least the second one, completely different. What was the second one you read?
Myron Metcalf
You said I have to remember that I've already won a green jacket.
Matt Jones
Yeah, see, I read that completely differently because Rory has for years talked about that when you come down the stretch of these tournaments, specifically the Masters, that he hadn't won. The fact that he hadn't won had weighed on him. And if you and Rory, it's, it's very clear over the years he plays better when he's the swashbuckling, you know, guy going for it, coming from behind or early in the rounds. And when he gets the lead and he starts to protect it, as we would sometimes use afraid stall ball. But in golf that's where he gets tight and tense. I think that's what was happening yesterday, a six shot lead. Guys went out early, shot well. He felt like he had to protect the lead. He ended up not playing well. I don't see those quotes as negative. Here's what you'll know about Rory. You'll know it within four or five holes. If he comes out firing and he's. He's playing well, he's going to win. If he doesn't, you're right. It could end up being a collapse.
Myron Metcalf
You've been waiting all year to use swashbuckling, haven't you?
Matt Jones
Swashed? Well, I talk about pirates a lot. Well, it's like a, you know. Yeah, I think usually you use the phrase swashbuckling. I think it's, like, associated with pirates. It's like they're out on the open sea and there's nothing to stop them. They're swashbuckling around. Am I right, Rachel or Josiah? Somebody read me the definition.
Ad
I mean, they are called swashbucklers.
Matt Jones
So, I mean, they just.
Myron Metcalf
I mean, you just out hanging out when he's like, you just use swashbuckling. I think it's the first time I've. That's. This is the first time someone used that word who wasn't a pirate, I believe.
Matt Jones
Well, I'm just saying, I. I like the idea that if you're going to be a good golfer, you almost have to be like a pirate. You have to be swashbuckling. The moment you get in your head, it's over.
Myron Metcalf
Go.
Matt Jones
A swashbuck is a daring. Read it. A daring, flamboyant. What? Heroic character.
Ad
I was not prepared.
Matt Jones

Matt Jones
daring rescues, and devil may care. So think about the. How that analogy works for Rory. He needs to be daring, he needs to be flamboyant, and he needs to use his sword, which in this case is his golf club, to go out and play.
Myron Metcalf
Well, all right, Jack Sparrow. I think at the end of the day, he himself has pointed to this reality of knowing if he misses out today, that there will still be a segment of the. The golf fan base, the casual fan base that'll go, man, he hasn't gotten rid of all the ghosts. I'm not rooting against Rory at all. I think Rory himself sees this as an important moment. Even though he has the career grand slam, his greatness is unchallenged. We get that he's going to go down as one of the great golfers of this time, no matter what happens today. But to lose in this fashion, if that's what happens, I don't think that helps.
Matt Jones
But I mean, when you talk. You mentioned the career grand slam. I mean, the career grand slam is historically in golf, and I mean, only Six people have done it, right? Gene Sarazen, Ben Hogan, Gary Player, Jack Nicklaus, Tiger woods, and Rory. I mean, no Arnold Palmer, no Tom Watson. I mean, you can just go through Sam's need, whoever you want to pick. None of them have done, but Rory has. And so in my opinion, if he can't swashbuckle now, then when is he ever going to swashbuckle? Because this is the time. Rory has proven everything. He is the second best golfer of the post Nicklaus generation. I think he's past Phil at this point. So if you are not. If, like, if he can't get over that now and play free, then. Then that will be an issue. But I think he has. I think if you watch him, he didn't play great yesterday because he didn't drive the ball in the fairway. It's that simple. It's not like he choked. He just didn't drive the ball in the fairway, and that's a problem.
Myron Metcalf
But, I mean, he was going left and right of the fairway on Thursday and Friday.
Matt Jones
He was.
Myron Metcalf
He was just correcting it.
Matt Jones
His misses weren't as bad. And then he was able to hit some amazing shots.
Myron Metcalf
Why I think this matters is because we saw him hold on last year. He wins at a playoff. It was an incredible achievement. All of the glory he deserved was given to him. I think if Rory in this situation fights through again, I think that'll be a feather in this cap, 100%. You just lost the lead. Everyone is saying, oh, is this the same guy? And now you hold on to the lead again. But if you lose it, I think there will be a certain group of people who will say, man, that's still a part of his legacy.
Matt Jones
It is where you can't hold on to leads. That's going to be part of his legacy, the way because of what happened at Wing Foot. But I will say this leaderboard, the top seven, incredible. You've got old timers like Justin Rose, who's been in these for years, and then you've got some of, if not the best players in the game right now. This will be. This has a chance to be an epic day. The course has been dry with the pin positions where they are on Sunday. I think it's got a chance to be an awesome day, even though it still annoys me that they faked the bird sounds, Myron, during the broadcast.
Myron Metcalf
I didn't know that.
Matt Jones
You didn't know that?
Myron Metcalf
No.
Matt Jones
Do you ever hear the bird sounds at any other tournament except that one?
Myron Metcalf
I don't pay attention to bird sounds.
Matt Jones
We'll turn it on today and see how many bird sounds you hear. Matt Myers Presented by Progressive Insurance Save on commercial auto insurance from Progressive. Get a fast', @progressivecommercial.com More on the

Matt and Myron the podcast oh yeah, it's a great song. The bird is the word on Matt Myron on ESPN Radio. You'll hear a lot of birds on the Masters coverage here all afternoon. Big day of sports. You got the last day of the NBA regular season and the Masters. We had a conversation during the break and as often I think it's one we have to extend on the air. Let me give the background of the story real quick. Myra Last year, so the Cincinnati Reds, they have like four or five bobbleheads every year, right? Last year, early in the year they had a bobblehead for a guy named Christian in Carcin Strand. The season started and he was terrible, like he couldn't get a hit he was literally the worst player. So they ended up sending him to the minors before his bobblehead day. So when his bobblehead day came, he wasn't even on the team.
Myron Metcalf
It's not good.
Matt Jones
So they gave out his bobblehead, but he wasn't there. And I was at that game and I thought, well, this is weird. Now I've got a bobblehead and he's not even here anymore. So now fast forward to this year. They have a guy named Novel Marte, first bobblehead of the year. It's him. He's been awful. He's been terrible in spring training and he's been terrible to start the season. So his bobblehead day was yesterday. And there's a lot of people that think, Myron, they kept him on the team until yesterday solely to not have a repeat of the bobblehead fiasco from last year. So here's my question for you. Would you rather be the player that's only kept on the team until the bobblehead day, or would you rather be sit down on your merits and not. And have the embarrassment of everybody going, all right, get his bobblehead out so we can get him out?
Myron Metcalf
No, no. But I'd rather be the guy on the roster when the bobblehead day happens. Even though I know I'm getting cut. I mean that, that's. To me, it's like you've got to turn in your two week notice. It's almost like a send off party and muffins. And they say nice things about you, but everybody knows you're leaving.
Matt Jones
But they can't for two years in a row.
Myron Metcalf
Yeah.
Matt Jones
Get rid of the guy right before his bobblehead. Can they?
Myron Metcalf
No. Last year to me is the thing that's egregious. Cause you, you have to let him be on the roster, even if it's just for that game him on bobblehead night. You can't have him in the minors on his bobblehead night.
Matt Jones
Can you think about what that would be like if you're in the minor leagues and at the majors level, they're celebrating your bobblehead and you don't even get. He can't even go. He has to play that night. He doesn't even get to buy a ticket.
Myron Metcalf
That. That'd be the most insulting thing that could ever happen, I think, to it, to a player, if they have a bobblehead night without you, that's like, I don't, honestly don't think it gets. It's worse than that.
Matt Jones
Right now. Do you. Do you like bobbleheads? I'm showing you one. I have a lot of bobbleheads. My Ellie bobblehead. Do you like bobbleheads?
Myron Metcalf
I think we give bobblehead people too much power. They've just kind of taken over. I don't think any team in pro sports has more than two athletes worthy of a bobblehead. I think that's not true.
Matt Jones
You're saying there's no team, no team that has three bobblehead worthy people?
Myron Metcalf
Not one team in sports has more than two players who are bobblehead worthy. We're real quick.
Matt Jones
This wasn't the topic, but that's okay. Let's go through the sports. Yeah, basketball. You don't think any team in the NBA has. So you couldn't have a LeBron, a Luca, and an Austin Reeves?
Myron Metcalf
Ain't nobody getting the Austin Reeves bobblehead. What are you gonna do with that? What are you talking about? Like now you just bring it up. Names. LeBron and Luca, of course. But. But Austin Reeves bobblehead, he's not there yet.
Matt Jones
So you're not. You're a no on an Austin Reeves bobblehead?
Myron Metcalf
Absolutely not.
Matt Jones
Okay.
Myron Metcalf
Just. We have to set limits with bobbleheads.
Matt Jones
Hang on just a sec. 888, say ESPN. We'll open up the phones. This feels like something someone could. Is there any team in sports.
Myron Metcalf
Yeah.
Matt Jones
That you think has three bobbleheads?
Myron Metcalf
Where?
Matt Jones
So, NBA. Jalen Brown, Jason Tatum, and that's Eric White.
Myron Metcalf
See that again? Again, you're throwing in a bobblehead because that's what the bobblehead people have told you to do. But the reality is there are two athletes on any given team in all of professional sports who are bobblehead worthy.
Matt Jones
Okay. All right. All right, let's switch sports. Let's go to the NFL.
Myron Metcalf
Yeah.
Matt Jones
Mahomes. Kelsey and Chris Jones.
Myron Metcalf
You want me to have a Christian? First off, the bobblehead's gonna weigh three and a half pounds for Chris Jones. No, I don't want a Chris Jones bobblehead. There's a Kelsey bobblehead and a Mahomes bobblehead. And there's no.
Matt Jones
Myron.
Ad
Would you take an Andy Reid bobblehead?
Matt Jones
Oh, I like. Can the coach count?
Myron Metcalf
Coaches shouldn't get involved if we're just talking about athletes. Coaches, I mean, I guess that's a different category. But in terms of players, no team has more than two.
Matt Jones
All right, I'm opening this up. 888, say ESPN. Is there a team that. All right. So we went through. How about baseball?
Myron Metcalf
Yeah.
Matt Jones
Can we get a show? Hey, a Freddie Freeman and a Mookie. A Mookie. Yeah. How about that? Mookie, Freddie and Shohei. That's not a bobblehead.
Myron Metcalf
3. The only Dodgers bobblehead that should be given out is Shohei pitching. Shohei back. That's your bobblehead. It's. It's two Show Hayes. That's the only bobblehead that matters.
Matt Jones
So there's no Freddie Freeman bobblehead, no Mookie Betts bobblehead. It's.
Myron Metcalf
It's Shohei hitting.
Matt Jones
Okay.
Myron Metcalf
What?
Matt Jones
All right, let me go back in the day. Aikman, Irvin, Emmett Smith.
Myron Metcalf
Give me Irvin and Emmett as the bobbleheads.
Matt Jones
You're not gonna do an Aikman bobblehead?
Myron Metcalf
No, I'm not. I'm not giving anyone three bobbleheads.
Matt Jones
See, I think you're gonna have a hard time, though, claiming that all three of those guys would not have deserved, in the 90s, a Bible hit. What about. What about. What about LeBron, Dwayne Wade and Chris Bosh?
Myron Metcalf
You. You know, Chris Bosh ain't getting a bobblehead. Stop. Stop throwing in these people because you wanted. You want them to have a bobblehead. You want. You're. You're the person who wants everybody to be acknowledged. And even if you didn't win, here's a sticker. Get rid of the dog on stickers.
Matt Jones
No, Chris Boss doesn't get a bobblehead.
Myron Metcalf
I love Chris Bosh. He's not getting a bobblehead.
Matt Jones
All right, Randy in North Carolina, can you think of a team that deserves three under the Myron scale?
Caller
Yes, sir. Just to emphasize on your point, 49er fan football. George Kittle, Fred Warner, Christian McCaffrey. Y' all hang up.
Matt Jones
Fred Warner's not getting one.
Myron Metcalf
See, that's the problem. It's the third guy.
Matt Jones
I'm with Myron on that. You gave you Fred Ward? I don't even know what Fred Warner looks.
Myron Metcalf
Fred Warner's not good.
Matt Jones
Warner's for anybody named Fred. Unless it's, well, he's great.
Myron Metcalf
Well, he's. He's a great player, but he's not good about it.
Matt Jones
Fred Flintstone.
Myron Metcalf
No, don't say. Don't put up with. Now, Fred Water is a great player, but he's not getting the bobblehead.
Matt Jones
Josh and Okc. Josh, who's getting the three bobbleheads?
Caller
Hey. Yes, sir. How about our Oklahoma City Thunders? Shay, Chet and J. Dub. All three also?
Matt Jones
Yeah, See the problem is you can't have J Dub with the one because there's two jdubs on your team. So I don't even know which J Dub you're giving me the bobblehead on. He doesn't get 45.
Myron Metcalf
Jalen Williams is in the NBA or something like that. Like. No, Chet will get one. Shay will get one. 100%. But. But that's it. Those are the bobbleheads.
Matt Jones
All right, let's go to Weston in South Dakota. Weston.
Caller
All right. I'm tagging right behind this guy because I agree with him. We got Chad Shay or. Yeah, Chat Shea and J Dub. And you're wrong. There's a J Dub and a J Will. There's two differences, J Dub.
Matt Jones
See, the mere fact that you all know that is why you don't both Jalen. They're both Jalen Williams. I guarantee you there is not a human being out there outside of Oklahoma and maybe one guy in South Dakota who can tell the difference between the Jalen Williams.
Myron Metcalf
Well, and these are the teams that end up giving out 19 bobbleheads because the fans just eat it up. Everybody deserves a bobblehead.
Matt Jones
Let me tell you.
Myron Metcalf
I have.
Matt Jones
I like collecting bad bobbleheads. I have. Now, he played at Kentucky and I love him. But Myron, I have a Brandon Knight, Milwaukee Bucks bobblehead.
Myron Metcalf
Well, as someone who grew up in Milwaukee, the Bucks gave our bobbleheads for the. The trainers, you know, I mean, the equipment guy had a bobblehead in Milwaukee, like, so everyone got one.
Matt Jones
Rodney in North Carolina. Which one?
Caller
Lamelo ball.
Matt Jones
Brandon Miller. Yeah, I'm sorry. Brandon Miller's really getting one.
Myron Metcalf
Cone. Getting one. But you're not getting that third.
Matt Jones
You're not. Yeah, the Hornets aren't even. The Hornets are a play in team. You can't have three bobbleheads from a play in team.
Myron Metcalf
Conquered up a lamello ball. I'm with you.
Matt Jones
What about. What about Paul Skeins, the new kid? Connor Griffin and o' Neill Cruz?
Myron Metcalf
If you got to say the new kid, then you don't have three bobblehead books.
Matt Jones
Jose in Chicago, do you have three?
Caller
I got. Hey, hey, guys. Love your show.
Matt Jones
I got three for you.
Caller
I got to go way back, though. I say Jordan, Pippin and Rodman.
Matt Jones
Yeah, okay, now there you go. You can't argue with that one, Myron. That is one for the like. You cannot there. If there were bobbleheads in 1998, there's no way there would not be a Jordan, a Pippin and a Rod.
Myron Metcalf
There'd be a Jordan and a Rodman, right?
Matt Jones
You wouldn't give one to Scotty?
Myron Metcalf
No, because I'm tired of him. Mostly. He's. He's become the most annoying former player in NBA history. Try to convince us that he was as good as Michael Jordan. So maybe if he hadn't been so annoying, I might give him one. But not in this case.
Matt Jones
What about Magic Cream Worthy? Because the worthy bobblehead people would want one with goggles.
Myron Metcalf
Magic and Kareem are getting those, and we love James Worthy, but he's worthy of a lot of things. Just not a bobblehead in that situation.
Matt Jones
Captain Shakespeare. Go, Captain Shanks.
Caller
All right, so how about this one? We're gonna go hockey. All right? Now, Colorado, we got McCarr, we got McKinnon, and we got Lanis. God, the captain. Or you can throw Wedgwood in there. Who's the best goalie in the NHL?
Matt Jones
Myron, what do you think about those?
Myron Metcalf
What are we talking about? What are we. But this is how. This is how fans get tricked in the. Appreciate.
Matt Jones
Appreciate the call.
Myron Metcalf
Thinking they got nine bobblehead kids.
Matt Jones
Okay, so you would agree with me, though. The Pippin, Rodman, Jordan and Aikman, Emmett Irvin are. Those are hard ones to say.
Myron Metcalf
You can't do difficult. Okay, I'm. I'm gonna do Aikman and Emmett for diversity purposes, and then give me Rodman, Rodman and Jordan. Rodman would have had one because you would have had the colored hair.
Matt Jones
Oh, yeah. Rodman is. That's gonna be a huge purple head.
Myron Metcalf
Jordan and Robin are.
Matt Jones
Gary, I will say this. No one has yet given me a slam dunk.
Myron Metcalf
That's what I'm saying right now.
Matt Jones
But I do think the Dodgers with Shohei Freeman and Mookie Betts. That's a hard one to say. That doesn't work.
Myron Metcalf
Mookie and Shohei, I think most people would say, yes. Freddie would be the odd man out, as great as he is.
Matt Jones
All right, well, we'll say 888, say, ESPN. We got folks on. We will take some more calls. Also, I called Myron this week to talk about something. And, you know, sometimes I'm. I'm scared to call people because I'm like, oh, they might be busy. Maybe they're doing something. Maybe. Maybe, like, you know, they're at a party or maybe they're, like, with their kids. I don't know that I've ever had a lamer. I can't talk to you right now because I'm doing this answer than what I had for Myron and we will deal with it next here. I'm Matt Myron on ESPN Radio.

Matt and Myron, the podcast.
Matt Jones
All right, Myron, a couple people have writing in. You know we have a text machine for this show where you can send me messages. 772-7745254. The song from a couple segments ago was by Foreigner, not just foreign. You said it was by foreign. I didn't correct him.
Myron Metcalf
So I'm gonna take neither one of you corrected him.
Ad
Yeah, I'm sorry, Myra. I, I, that's my fault.
Myron Metcalf
But you know what? Steve Harvey would have given me credit on Family feud for that answer. That's how I respond to that.
Matt Jones
All right, so I'm gonna give you a few of them that people are suggesting from history. We still haven't had another Paris and do from now. Bird, Mikhail, Parish.
Myron Metcalf
I think this is Boston in the 80s. Robert Paris ain't getting that bobblehead. I think we all know. I think we all know.
Matt Jones
You don't think this city would have rallied around Robert Parish.
Myron Metcalf
I think. I think we all know that city
Matt Jones
of Boston would be like, how about Danny A. What do you think about that?
Myron Metcalf
Yeah, Bird and Mikhail are getting that bobblehead. Paris going to have to wait on his. I. I would think.
Matt Jones
What about Pierce, Garnett, Allen?
Myron Metcalf
That's a tough one because they all
Matt Jones
came in at once.
Myron Metcalf
That's a tough one. Garnett, definitely.
Matt Jones
Pierce was a legend in Boston. So you're gonna have to say no to reality, which would be hard.
Myron Metcalf
Which would be. Which would be harder. But, you know.
Matt Jones
All right, how about this case? Maddox, Glavin, Smoltz.
Myron Metcalf
Yeah, that's a tough. That's a tough one. That's.
Matt Jones
That's because they're also all put together in people's. You kind of think of all three of them together.
Myron Metcalf
It's. But I think there's still gonna be an iron man out in. In all these situations.
Matt Jones
You're gonna leave Tommy Glavin off the. Is that what you're doing?
Myron Metcalf
I might have to leave him off the same. I might have to leave Ray Allen off in. In the Celtics situation.
Matt Jones
Yeah, I think those are good. Now I will say, I think the Dodgers qualifies. Myron's being harsh. But before we go the phones people are going to suggest him. I need to tell people what Meyer was doing. I had to call Myron about, like, a business matter, like it was important. Are you all right? Are you still there?
Myron Metcalf
I'm sorry.
Matt Jones
What happened? All of a sudden you just collapsed off camera. I was like. I literally was like, is he okay? What's going on?
Myron Metcalf
I took a sip of coffee.
Matt Jones
Yeah.
Myron Metcalf
And Cheaters is on the back. And this guy did a running hammer punch. This guy did a running hammer punch, like his girlfriend's mistress or whatever. So that it just caught me in a weird.
Matt Jones
Okay, so you're telling me when I'm trying to do the show with you, you have Cheaters on. In the background. For people who don't know. I have the Masters on.
Myron Metcalf
Masters on, too.
Matt Jones
And you have Cheaters just.
Myron Metcalf
It happened at a weird time. Go ahead.
Matt Jones
Joey Greco is compelling. No, I called him and I said, hey, I want to talk to you about something I hear in the background in 33. And I go, where are you? And he was like it's Wednesday, it's pool tab and bingo night. And he said it like I was the stupid one. Like I was the one that didn't understand. On Wednesdays you play pool tabs and bingo like a 74 year old retiree at the Villages in Florida. What, what, what are you doing with your life?
Myron Metcalf
I like bingo. I now have my own dauber. You have a dauber.
Matt Jones
Like, so I have my own dauber.
Myron Metcalf
The serious ones have a dauber. I just, I enjoy it and I don't actually. I don't want to be in a bingo hall that doesn't have mostly people over the age of 65. Like, that's my crowd.
Matt Jones
So you're telling me that on Wednesday night you go to a bill bingo hall?
Myron Metcalf
Well, there's a whole circuit here. I know them all.
Matt Jones
There's a circuit, there's a. There's a tour.
Myron Metcalf
Know most of the. Most of the places, yeah.
Matt Jones
Oh, you know, the regulars.
Myron Metcalf
I know a lot of the places that have. Bingo's intense, man. Have you played bingo?
Matt Jones
I have. I once. I won one time playing in one of those events. I've done, I've gone, oh, I got it.
Myron Metcalf
You're one of those people. If you can't win every time, you don't mess with it. That's your, that's your whole thing. If they don't walk in and say, here's the winning card.
Matt Jones
So let me ask you a question. So you do it. Is it just brainless fun? Is that why you do it?
Myron Metcalf
Oh, it's, it's, it's not brainless at all. You got to listen for the number. What's the first one? Because let's say you get bingo and you're not paying attention and someone yells at first, they win.
Matt Jones
Okay. When you say pay attention, you just look at your card, they say, oh, 60. And then you just.
Myron Metcalf
I'm not playing with one card. I've got six, five lined up. You know, I've got a whole table of cards. I'm increasing the.
Matt Jones
I pull tabs. Pull tabs are maybe the most degenerate form of gambling.
Myron Metcalf
I'm not playing every night. You know, I just, you know, I mean, I don't have a problem just on Wednesdays. Listen, I. I think live a little bit, but bingo's really fun.
Matt Jones
You should try.
Myron Metcalf
You should get involved in. In bingo. Bingo's intense up here. I don't know what it is down there.
Matt Jones
All right, well, that sounds amazing. Let's go to Jason in North Carolina. Go.
Caller
So I'M going to be going with the villain over trifecta. Jalen Brunson, Josh Hard and Mikhail Bridges.
Matt Jones
Not bad for a college one. What do we think?
Myron Metcalf
That's a good one. I. I will say.
Matt Jones
But not playing currently, which was your point.
Myron Metcalf
I will say that 2016 team he's talking about, Jalen Brunson wasn't actually like a high level player on that team. If he's talking about the Knicks, then certainly that's not interesting.
Matt Jones
That's a good one.
Myron Metcalf
But I'm kind of with my.
Matt Jones
But it's also not currently going Justin in Kansas. Go Justin.
Caller
First, can I give you guys a compliment?
Myron Metcalf
Yeah, please.
Caller
I. I just want to say, and I'm not blowing smoke, you guys have the best show going. I mean, every show I listen to on ESPN sounds exactly the same. Three guys talking about betting and stuff. I don't care about it. Just turn it off. But every Sunday I listen to you guys, so just keep up the good work there.
Matt Jones
Well, thank you.
Caller
I hope you guys Rich Eisen a hard time because he probably needs a little bit. But anyways, I would argue the Kansas City Chiefs have three, maybe four, maybe even five, because you could, you could do Travis Kelsey, Patrick Mahomes, Chris Jones, Andy Reid, and even throw in Super Bowl MVP Kenneth Walker there.
Matt Jones
Yeah, you can't throw in. Well, first of all, he's not even played a game yet, so you can't. He can't be on a bobblehead when he hasn't played. We don't give it to coaches. And Myron's already said no on Chris Jones. So first of all, thank you for calling the nice words there. But I think we're gonna have to say no because again, here's my question. Does the average fan know what this guy looks like? And does the average fan know what Chris Jones looks like? I think the answer is probably no. They would know the other two, but I don't think they would know what
Myron Metcalf
Chris Jones, like, local fans are really.
Matt Jones
They would know. They would know.
Myron Metcalf
Yeah. Again, every sports fan thinks their team has 13 bobbleheads.
Matt Jones
Yeah. Logan in Missouri. What you. What are yours?
Caller
I know this isn't a current one, but I got the greatest show on turf with Falk Warner and Bruce.
Myron Metcalf
That's a good one.
Matt Jones
It's a good one.
Myron Metcalf
It's a good one.
Matt Jones
That's a good one. I'm with you. But again, not going now. But that's. That's up there. It's not quite Emmett, Michael, Irvin and Eggman, but it's close. Let's go to Ron and Florida. Go, Ron.
Myron Metcalf
Yeah.
Caller
First of all, I want to say, Myron, I've played bingo at the Americana and Villages once, so that's fun.
Myron Metcalf
I hope you enjoyed it.
Caller
I like bingo, but I would. I would go with the 72 dolphins. I know it's not current, but Zonka Kick and Mercury Morse, you know, I got.
Matt Jones
Well, yeah, no, because you didn't even put the quarterback. You got to have the quarterback, right? Greasy. No.
Myron Metcalf
Yeah. Again, it's. I still don't think you got three.
Matt Jones
Do you, like, feel accomplishment when you win at bingo?
Myron Metcalf
Oh, it's greatest thrill of my life.
Matt Jones
Not your children. Bingo. More Mad Myron thanks for listening to

Hosts: Myron Medcalf, Matt Jones (ESPN Radio)
Hour 1 of “Sunday Mornings with Matt and Myron” covers the lively intersection of spring sports – from the Masters to NBA/NHL playoff pushes, NCAA tournament recaps, and the beloved—and sometimes controversial—tradition of sports bobblehead promotions. The hosts debate which athletes are truly “bobblehead-worthy,” and sprinkle in banter about college basketball’s transfer portal chaos, the quirks of UFC, and Myron’s unexpected passion for bingo. Notable quotes and recurring playful jabs make this a breezy, engaging episode for any sports fan grappling with April’s calendar overload.
If you missed the show, you’ll walk away understanding why April is sports super-peak—and whether your favorite athlete (or coach, or city's obscure backup player) is truly bobblehead material. You’ll hear about the Masters’ fake bird sounds, why some NBA regular season games are unwatchable, how bingo can be as intense as pro sports, and enjoy a running tally of which sports trios stand the test of sporting—and bobblehead—immortality.
