Matt Jones
This is the Countdown to Kickoff ESPN Radio.
Myron Metcalf
A massive week in the NFL is coming. That's right. Three amazing games, one of which has already happened. Two still to come. It is countdown to Kickoff here on ESPN Radio, presented by Progressive Insurance. The best of the best play this week. The worst of the worst also play. So it is a great chance for you to watch whatever entertains you. I'm Matt, he's Myron. You can be a part of Countdown to Kickoff Nation. You know, we were on the road last week so we didn't get to hear from you, a lot of you. So I'd love to hear from you. Now on the Dr. Pepper calling line 888 say ESPN ESPN Nation is presented by Dr. Pepper. It is not football season without the delicious taste of an ice cold Dr. Pepper. College football is a Pepper thing. Meyer Metcalf, I feel like this was your kind of weekend. You had a boxing match that got numbers. It's hard to, I don't know whether you can believe Netflix numbers or not because they just say like they don't use the same scales, but they claim 60 million people watched it. I'm all, I'm going to throw the challenge flag on that. But a lot of people watched it. I don't think there's any doubt. And then Saturday you got your John Jones, who I don't know anything about, but apparently he won. And then the big college football weekend. I'm sure it was a Myron Metcalf kind of viewing experience.
Matt Jones
It was made for me, man. Yeah. And I think, you know, Friday night, I think it was a genius move for Netflix to do it on Friday night because, you know, it became the story. Like there was so many people I know who have, who don't care about boxing, who don't care about anything related to combat sports, who made that their Friday night. So I don't know if it's 60 million man, but it's certainly the biggest boxing audience of my lifetime. You Know, for any fight.
Myron Metcalf
So no, not for your lifetime. I mean, Tyson, Holyfield, you're pay per view fights.
Matt Jones
No, those are pay per view fights, remember? So those are, those are, you know, you're talking 3, 4, 5 million range for pay per view versus this is, you know what, 999amonth or whatever it is for Netflix. So it definitely was the biggest audience of my lifetime. And you probably have to go back to like Muhammad Ali, Joe Frazier to really consider another fight that had an audience that big, man. So it was cool to see boxing on the national global stage. I hated the fight, but I love some of the other fights that Ronnie was awful.
Myron Metcalf
It was awful. I mean, you don't have to say like it was awful. It was a. But as a cultural event, I agree with you. It was a huge event. You know we talk about, I judge these fights by, by my bar, right. And we didn't know what to do with this one because it was on Netflix. So like what are you going to do with a flat fight on Netflix? But we bought it. First of all, let me just give you an example of the kind of things they did to make it big. Most of the time, if we buy a pay per view boxing or wrestling fight, it costs us like 3 to $4,000. So we're only doing it if we think it'll be good. They sold it to us for $500, right? Well, for $500 it's worth it. But then you sit there and think, wait a minute, everybody's got this at home. Nevertheless, Myron, we still had a full bar. People watch it to come out and watch it. Even though they could have watched it at home, I think they wanted to be with people. So that also is one way I knew. And then secondly, I didn't know anybody that wasn't, didn't have it turned on. So even though it was kind of stupid, it was a cultural event that kind of worked. You had Jake Paul for the young kids, you had Mike Tyson for the middle aged people. And it made everybody, I think, want to turn it on.
Matt Jones
Yeah, I mean those two factors together is what made it can't miss tv. And again, I just don't know as a boxing fan, like who, I don't know how many can't miss fights there have been in my lifetime boxing.
Myron Metcalf
Do you think because it was a terrible fight, do you think it helped the sport?
Matt Jones
It helped Jake Paul and Mike Tyson make a lot of money. I do think the undercards, Amanda Serrano and Katie Taylor, fought their second Fight. I think they've become stars. They're going to fight their third fight, probably in a soccer stadium in Europe. There are a couple guys, you know, even before that, that people were talking about, but I don't know that, like, Netflix has suddenly changed boxing in America because it's clear that Mike Tyson is still the most popular boxer in America at 58 years old. I think that was the story of Saturday is Mike Tyson. I don't even know who to compare him to. Matt might be the most compelling sports figure in the world right now, just in terms of a guy that everybody wants to see, even at this age. And I think that, to me, is the most amazing moment here.
Myron Metcalf
Well, I did lead to. I was with a group of people last night, and everybody was arguing, what age of Mike Tyson did they think they could beat up? Like, could they beat him at 70? Like, it's. You know, we were kids, Myron. That was. The conversation would be, how much would it cost for you to take a punch from Mike Tyson? Like, yeah, those. Those would be the conversations people would have. It kind of brought that. Brought that back even though the fight stank. Plus, I was amazed to find out Rosie Perez is still around. Like, I didn't.
Matt Jones
She's still around.
Myron Metcalf
I hadn't thought of Rosie Perez in 25 or 30 years. Right? Yeah, I hadn't thought. I hadn't thought, thought of Cedric the Entertainer in a while, and then he showed up, made me go back and watch Kings of Comedy for the first time in a long time. So I got to see Bernie Mac again, thanks to the show. So that part was kind of exciting.
Matt Jones
Cedric the Entertainer was dressed like he was about to send you a very suspicious email. Like, it just. I don't know.
Myron Metcalf
I did like, though, as the show went on, the tweets came in and people were telling him so he could laugh at what he looked like. He didn't. He can kind of joke about his hat and all that. We got to see Tyson's cheeks. That was. That was probably something exciting for you, wasn't it?
Matt Jones
That was my thing about that moment. Matt is the cameraman goes into the room for the interview. Right. Does he not see that this potentially could happen? Like, you've got to know Mike is about to turn and moon the world. Right? I don't know how they didn't.
Myron Metcalf
I got to assume, though, like, that I just assume that's what Tyson wears everywhere. You know, he did. And my favorite moment in sports for a long time is his interview with that little girl. Like his interview with that little girl where he said. Where he goes, do we have that? Do we. Do we. Do we have that interview, Nick? The interview he did with the girl. Not the party cusses, but before that.
Matt Jones
Yeah, one second.
Myron Metcalf
Okay. That, Myron, might be my favorite thing I've heard in a long time.
Matt Jones
I just wish someone would have been there and be like, Mike, she's 10. I don't know. I don't know that Mike. Mike doesn't know stuff, man. So there was this interview he did with this guy. There's this guy Hasbulla, I think they call him, and he's like this international icon. Yeah. He comes to all the fights and he is. I want to use, like, the politically correct term for someone who's smaller and not say, like, the M word. But he's a smaller human being. Right, But. But he's like in his 40s or something, and Mike was picking him up like a baby and like, treating him like he was 3 or 4. And Mike, in a later interview was like, he thought he was a kid. Like, he didn't know. So Mike may not have known. Well, I don't know what you have.
Myron Metcalf
To play at least through the girl's reaction, because that's my favorite part. But, like, here is the Tyson sound I'm talking about.
Matt Jones
Well, I don't know. I don't believe in the.
Myron Metcalf
Hang on. Stop right there. I gotta give the context. If you're not gonna play the question. She asked him a question. She said, what do you want your legacy to be, Mike?
Matt Jones
Yes.
Myron Metcalf
And here's his answer.
Matt Jones
Well, I don't know. I don't believe in the word legacy. I just think that's another word for ego. Legacy doesn't mean nothing. That's just some word everybody grabbed onto. Someone said that word and everyone grabbed on the word. So now it's used every five seconds. It means absolutely nothing to me. I'm just passing through. I'm a die, and it's going to be over. Who cares about legacy after that with a big eagle. So I'm gonna die. I want people to think that I'm this. I'm great, I'm. No, we're nothing. We're just dead. We're dust. We're absolutely nothing. Our legacy is nothing. Well, thank you so much for sharing that. That is something that I have not heard before. Someone say that as an answer and she's like. She's like, okay, like, bro, bro, I'm just doing my social studies project over here, man. Like, I'M just trying to get an A. Like, what are you talking about?
Myron Metcalf
We're all just dead and that's it. Well, there you go. So he just quotes Ecclesiastes right to her. And what he's supposed to do, I don't know.
Matt Jones
But anyway, so that was like Matt.
Myron Metcalf
She'S 10, that was Friday night. And then yesterday, kind of a boring day of college football. Two big things at the end that I think are worth noting. Georgia beats Tennessee. Georgia gets back into the field. I think they are not assured the playoff, but they're very close to being assured the playoff as long as they don't lose to Georgia Tech. And then late at night, BYU loses to Kansas. Here's what that means. Very likely the Big 12, because of how many losses the conference has taken, may find themselves not getting a by the conference winner. Byron, the conference winner could end up being the 12 seed in the tournament. And Boise State. That's right, Boise State could end up the four seed in the playoff and getting a buy on their way to a tournament championship.
Matt Jones
But I mean that's what you have to love about the way they set this up is if you're top four and you're one of those conference champions, you in a very good spot. You get to rest. But if you somehow don't make that as a, as a conference champion, you could end up in the situation that BYU or whoever is in. So man, I love that you're going to make everybody prove it if they're not legitimately a top, you know, three or four team in the country going into the playoffs.
Myron Metcalf
888, say ESPN. So that's all of our stuff that is non NFL. We'll do a little NFL as well. Lots of games this weekend. We'll go through all of them. That's next here on Caldadic Kickoff on ESPN Radio.
Matt Jones
Thank you so much for sharing that. That is something that I have not heard before. Someone say that as an answer. Matt and Myron the PO.
Myron Metcalf

Myron Metcalf
Ryan Reynolds here for I guess my 100th mint commercial no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. I mean, honestly, when I started this.
Matt Jones
I thought I'd only have to do.
Myron Metcalf
Like four of these. I mean, it's unlimited to Premium Wireless for $15 a month. How are there still people paying two or three times that much? I'm sorry, I shouldn't be victim blaming. Here, give it a try@mintmobile.com switch whenever you're ready.
Matt Jones
$45 upfront payment equivalent to $15 per month. New customers on first three month plan only. Taxes and fees. Extra speeds lower above 40 gigabytes. CD tails. The Bears fired offensive coordinator Shane Waldron.
Myron Metcalf
In hopes of shaking up an offense.
Matt Jones
Stuck in neutral and ranked among the NFL's worst. This is an organizational catastrophe. This was the expected outcome all along. I don't know why it took until Tuesday to get here, but this is.
Myron Metcalf
What they had to do. The problem is failed coaching.
Matt Jones
And if you want to say anything.
Myron Metcalf
About the organization, it is that when.
Matt Jones
It comes to the offensive side of.
Myron Metcalf
The game, there's failed coach after failed coach after failed coach.
Matt Jones
Yeah.
Myron Metcalf
So last week I was really excited. You know, we were on the road with CAB down to kickoff and big thank you to all the people who came out. We had a lot of people, Myron, come out and see us in Chicago outside of Soldier Field. I was very excited. Presented by Progressive Insurance. Not my excitement, but the show. And you know, I'd never been to a Bears game. Bears fan my entire life. Never been to Soldier Field for a Bears home game. And we got up there. Byron, I think we can say this. We got to sit with all the big wigs there in the mayor's suite.
Matt Jones
Yeah, yeah.
Myron Metcalf
You know, all the espn, you know, sort of hoity toities up there.
Matt Jones
Yeah, yeah.
Myron Metcalf
Movers and shakers. They let me and you in. We kind of sat in the corner. Nobody really talked to us. But that's okay because like, you know what? I wouldn't talk to us either, Myron. Like, we, we. It's okay. But we went and I was really excited. Let's see my Bears. And they put it produced one of the worst performances in the history of organized football. It was awful. It was awful. Caleb Williams and the offense could not move the ball, but not because of him. The offensive line stink. Matt Eber flews to coach was getting booed and it was an absolutely putrid performance. And I thought there was a chance the next day they could fire Matty Refleuss. They did not. They bring him back. He's probably going to finish the year they did get rid of the OC Shane Waldron. But when you saw it, when you saw it up close, it was one of the worst performances I've seen of football at any level. How did you feel? You're not a Bears fan, but did you feel as though it's put off by design?
Matt Jones
Yeah, I mean, it was. It was weird to see Bears fans leaving in the third quarter, you know, at Soldier Field. And I'm not talking about, like a couple of fans. I mean, they were filling the aisles in the third quarter. Just disappointed. And I think a lot of the problems. We knew a lot of injuries on that offensive line. They haven't been good. A lot of other issues for, you know, the whole franchise. But just seeing Caleb Williams out there miss some throws, you realize it's bigger than everything we've been talking about. Like, there is an element here where you go, there's a big gap between where Caleb Williams is now and where everybody expects him. He can get there.
Myron Metcalf
He can. You've been anti.
Matt Jones
You were there, Matt.
Myron Metcalf
It wasn't him. He never had a chance, Matt. Dude, I'm not putting it on him now. He may or may not end up being good, but you cannot put that on him. The offensive line was awful. The play schemes were awful. I don't know how you can judge Caleb Williams when he gets rocked time and time again. I don't know how you can do it.
Matt Jones
I sat next to you when you watched him hold on to the ball way too long on a couple of those sacks.
Myron Metcalf
Not everyone, but none of the dudes are open. That's part of the thing is no one's. I mean, he can throw the ball away, but it's not going to help. There's no one open ever.
Matt Jones
There's an element of this for me that's beginning to feel like Bears fans are afraid to say that. Caleb Williams.
Myron Metcalf
No, the easy thing to say is Caleb Williams because we always focus on quarterbacks. But if you were asking me to rank in order the issues, he would be issue three and a far number three. Issue one is coaching. I agree with Mike Wilbon. A sentence I don't say a lot. The Bears coaching is putrid. It was putrid with Justin Fields and it's putrid with Caleb Williams. They didn't switch staffs. It hasn't worked. They've got to go and fix that. They've got to change the staff in the off season. The second issue is the offensive line. It's awful. It's absolutely awful. Then issue three is Caleb Williams. But the national conversation skips to three, mostly because it's the easiest thing to talk about. But I much more want to fix one and two. Now, if you fix one and two and we still have problems, then Caleb Williams is a problem. But for me, it's impossible to judge when 1 and 2 are so terrible.
Matt Jones
But it can't be impossible to judge because we're judging Jaden Daniels and we judge Drake and we judge Bo.
Myron Metcalf
Nick, coach. And he's got a great offensive line.
Matt Jones
Caleb's got a rookie coach.
Myron Metcalf
He's got a rookie coach who hasn't proven anything good. And let me also note. Let me also know the Bears would have beaten the commanders if that dude had just done the. That has nothing to do with Williams.
Matt Jones
But. But you all are doing this thing that comes from, like, denial. I think it's okay to say, yes, they got coaching problems, they have offensive line issues. You can say the scheme doesn't work. All those things are valid. But those things can be true. And you can say Caleb Williams just isn't doing the things that you expect.
Myron Metcalf
The number one pick to be able to do.
Matt Jones
You sat there, Matt. Matt, you sat there and you saw him miss throws. No, because I've seen him. You saw him miss the target.
Myron Metcalf
I've seen him do good things. Take the commander's game because he always. People always want to compare him to Jaden Daniels.
Matt Jones
And I get it.
Myron Metcalf
Jaden Daniels has been very good. Caleb outplayed him. He did. In a game on their field against each other. Now Washington wins. But it had nothing to do with Caleb Williams. It had to do with one guy acting like an idiot and then. And again, coaching, coaching. Not being able to set up that NF game to where they could win. I can't put that on Caleb Williams. Now, I will grant you this. If you expected him to be able to overcome all of that and be good, he hasn't been able to do that. And maybe that means he's not an elite, elite quarterback. But I can't say whether he's good or not. If you put Caleb in Jaden Williams position or Jaden Daniels position, I think he'd be doing just as well.
Matt Jones
See, I don't think there's any evidence of that. And I think this isn't a Bryce Young situation. Like, this isn't somebody who. There's a bunch of guys who could have been number one. I mean, last year, Will Levis, Anthony Richardson, Bryce Young and C.J. stroud at one point were all viewed as the number One pick that wasn't this draft. Caleb Williams was, was the consensus number one for maybe two years after he won the Heisman, a lot of people thought he would have been the number one pick. So this is a dude who comes in and is so highly touted that the Bears go and spend millions of dollars. They go pay DJ Moore and all these other people because they're saying this dude can get us to the playoffs and maybe more because we think he's special. Caleb Williams doesn't look special yet, but they. That's my biggest thing.
Myron Metcalf
They didn't. And that could be true, but I can't say that because they didn't fix the biggest problem, which is their coach stinks. I mean, just look at the difference. Just let me give you this example. Look at the difference between Justin Fields with the staff they had last year, and then what happened when he went to Pittsburgh. When he went to Pittsburgh, they had a winning record when he was with the Bears. They stunk, period. To me, he's the same guy. It's not like he's developed in the last year. He was better because when he had a coach that wasn't terrible, and the Bears still have a terrible staff. The Bears interviewed, by the way, all the right people at offensive coordinator. They interviewed Liam Cohen, who's killing it with Tampa Bay. They interviewed like seven guys who went somewhere else and are succeeding, and they hired the one guy who could fail. That's Bears football in a nutshell.
Matt Jones
They should have hired Liam Cohen and they'd be in a better spot. So I'm not, I'll grant you that. They have coaching issues. That's clear. Personnel issues. I mean, I think they came into that game missing four offensive linemen and then a fifth went down in the game. There are issues like that, but you expect a number one pick to be able to rise above the circumstances in some way. And I'll give you an example of the reverse. When Lamar Jackson came into this league and people say they should be a wide receiver and he doesn't belong, you were the one saying, this dude is special. And I don't care what situation you put him in, his talent is going to make him a star.
Myron Metcalf
Lamar Jackson was on a team that the year before had made the playoffs.
Matt Jones
Hear me out. My point is, you were saying this dude is special. You know, we found out he is special. There is something there, despite the situation, that is a guy that you could see being a high level guy. Caleb Williams has shown none of that yet.
Myron Metcalf
Okay, let me, let me ask you, do you think Drake May has shown enough to make you confident?
Matt Jones
There have been good moments for him.
Myron Metcalf
Just what about Bo Nicks?
Matt Jones
He's had some good moments.
Myron Metcalf
Okay, so both those guys who you're giving more benefit of the doubt to have either the same or worse record than Caleb.
Matt Jones
They're not number one picks though. You can't put Drake May and Bo Nick in the same category as Caleb Williams. He was the number one, but he wasn't number one. He wasn't the number one though. Number one matters. You can't deny that it does.
Myron Metcalf
It look number one matters, but it's only two picks ahead of number three. And honestly, the Bears.
Matt Jones
That is such a politically correct answer for a Bears fan.
Myron Metcalf
Look, if we have if you replace the coach next year and he looks this bad, I'm glad to engage you in this conversation. I'm a nihilist when it comes to the Bears. I assume they stink. Okay, who picked the Patriots in that game last week?
Matt Jones
You did. You did.
Myron Metcalf
I assume they stink. I am fine. I don't have like Caleb Williams is not my relative. I don't have any reason to take up for him. I'm just saying, you can't continue to judge a guy when the things that have been awful for 30 years continue to be awful. That's just me. Now, if we get to this point next year, I'll concede the point. But we're not there yet for me.
Matt Jones
We'll see. I guess we'll see.
Myron Metcalf
Yes. Now you and I don't rarely argue like that, but you just hate Caleb Williams. It's like your Kirk now. Coming up next, make throws. Well, I want him to have an offensive line so he can do it. The Chiefs keep winning games, but are the Bills going to take them down? The big game of the week next. Hey, it's your resident super bowl champ, Chris Candy.

Matt Jones
Yeah. You can't. You'll never take that away from me. I mean, I don't care where we end up. I mean, I'll never give that I.
Myron Metcalf
Wish somebody would take away is Rex Ryan's jacket right now. So his. Somebody should take that away from. That's the ugliest jacket I've ever seen. I mean, look at that. First of all, that's the jacket you put on your child on Easter and say, you can wear this. Come on, Rex.
Matt Jones
That's the jacket. When you about to sell somebody $11,000 car for 15,000.
Myron Metcalf
Yeah, I mean, just in general, white people don't wear light purple. It's not our color. Light purple. I was told by a woman once.
Matt Jones
White people don't wear.
Myron Metcalf
Don't wear yellow or light purple.
Matt Jones
What?
Myron Metcalf
No.
Matt Jones
I don't know.
Myron Metcalf
It doesn't match our skin tones.
Matt Jones
Just don't wear.
Myron Metcalf
Don't wear yellow or light purple. I'm just saying this is dark purple. We can do dark purple. Don't wear yellow or light purple. It doesn't work with our skin tones, Myron. It's just the way it is.
Matt Jones
Yeah, okay. That's a lot different because I got some relatives who wouldn't survive without wearing purple.
Myron Metcalf
No, no.
Matt Jones
This is definitely two different worlds, you know?
Myron Metcalf
No, I just. Look, you're. You're people. You can wear those colors.
Matt Jones
We wear. Oh, yeah. If you took purple from us, we would start a riot.
Myron Metcalf
It would be.
Matt Jones
Something would be on fire. We were banned from purple, by the way.
Myron Metcalf
For white people, dark purple's okay. You just can't go with light purple. I'm just telling you, look at Rex right now. You just can't do it. No offense. I like Rex. He's A good announcer likes, like, that pocket square, too. Yeah. It's dark, though. Well, I don't know, because why, like, why do you.
Matt Jones
Laugh? What you just said. Did you say? Well, I don't know. But why. That's maybe the most Southern thing you said on our shows together. Because that is something that means something in the South. Like, you all do that stuff and you assume the rest of us understand it just only works for you all, you said. Well, I don't know why. That's a whole phrase for you all and for us, that's three different.
Myron Metcalf
It has a very distinct meaning. Well, I don't know why. There are people out there that know exactly what I meant. I'm trying to be nice. Look, again, I'm not trying to be a fashion show here, but Greeny's got a light purple tie on. It doesn't work. Now, Teddy Brusky, now that is a tie right there. That's what you.
Matt Jones
That's how you go.
Myron Metcalf
All right.
Matt Jones
That's a. That's a dude, man. What is he, 50s? Like Teddy Bruce.
Myron Metcalf
Teddy Bruce. A handsome man, right? Like, that's. That's. That's a good. A good tie. Rex. I don't know if I would. I would do that. 888, say, ESPN. The Chiefs and the Bills main event. Normally, we're used to this game being at night, but this is a 4:25 game. I assume this is on CBS. Tony Romo's going to be excited. Tay Tay may be up in the crowd getting ready to go. The Chiefs are. What?
Matt Jones
Taylor Swift. I forgot I was like, Tay Tay. Taylor Swift. Okay.
Myron Metcalf
Yeah. Come on. Listen, are you going to. Are you part of the Swifty Nation or not? Chiefs and Bills, you're going to have. It's going to be. It'll be dark by maybe by kickoff. It gets dark really early in Buffalo this time. At this time of year. It'll be cold. It'll be fun. Chiefs are nine and, oh, you've been picking them to lose every week. Do you pick up to lose again this week?
Matt Jones
Well, let's be clear. Last week was another game where they should have lost. But did they lose Kansas City. Yeah, but it. But they didn't win because. But they won because they played a team that made a bunch of silly mistakes. It wasn't.
Myron Metcalf
They made them make a mistake. Did you see Orlovsky's breakdown of the field goal block? I'm just asking. You may not.
Matt Jones
I did see. I did see it.
Myron Metcalf
They kept picking on that one dude. And they found the weakness and then they ultimately got the block. They picked on that one guy on the offensive line kept. They put two guys on him, then they put three guys on him, then they put four guys on him. And the fourth time they got the block. I'm telling you, Myron, smart team, these Chiefs.
Matt Jones
Yeah, but the problem is like that stuff rarely work. Like, you rarely see a field goal block and you definitely don't see it to be a game ceiling play like this. Still, this Chiefs team is not better than any of the super bowl teams. Right. I think that's clear. You know, you can see that they're not the same kind of dominant force that we've witnessed in the past, even though their record says otherwise. And I just think it's hard to win.
Myron Metcalf
They've played nine. How many have they won?
Matt Jones
But it's not.
Myron Metcalf
Let me just ask you a question. They've played nine games. How many have they won?
Matt Jones
They're undefeated, but.
Myron Metcalf
So how many games do you.
Matt Jones
Watching the games? I think they're legitimately a 6 and 3 team. That's how I view them. I view them as a 6 and 3 team, which is still good. Which is still very good. But I think they're playing at a 6 and 3 level.
Myron Metcalf
Who's. Who's.
Matt Jones
It may not matter going forward, who's better. It may not matter because if they get the. I think. I think they'll. We'll see today, you know, if the Bills are on that level. I think Baltimore has played a lot of really good football.
Myron Metcalf
I think they might have played each other. Nick, did game one, Kansas City play each other early this season?
Matt Jones
Yeah, I believe they right now though.
Myron Metcalf
And who right now? Can you help me? Chiefs. The Chiefs won.
Matt Jones
Right now. Right now I pick Baltimore against them like right now, today. I would. You know what I mean? So I just think. I think the path would be more challenging than people realize because I don't think this is a 9 and 0 team. I think it's a 6 and 3 team masquerading as an undefeated team.
Myron Metcalf
According to ESPN analytics, the Chiefs now have the 94% chance for a top seed in the AFC if they were to win today. If they lose, it's 57%. So if they win today, it might. They basically lock up the one seed. I think they still probably get it even if they lose because I think the Bills, the chief schedule is actually relatively easy the rest of the way. They played a lot of the tough games at the beginning of the year. Now The Bills are 8 and 2 best starts this season since 93. They haven't started 9 and 2 since 1992. I actually think with all that I'm saying about the Chiefs, I actually do think the Bills win today. I think the Bills at home in that environment will win. But I think the bigger question for me is where these games going to be played in the playoffs? Because I will grant you this Chiefs team may not be as good as the last few, but if they're playing at home in the playoffs, Myron, they're going to the Super Bowl. They just are. If they are at home and if they win today, it is almost certain the entire playoff run will go through their home field.
Matt Jones
Yeah, I mean, you know, everything I'm saying that there is not a lot of support for it. I get that because of what they did last year. I mean, they had to go on the road.
Myron Metcalf
That's a great. Right there. That is a great sentence. Everything I'm saying, there's not a lot of support for.
Matt Jones
I'm just, I'm an hon. I'm being honest, you know, because last year would have been the year to get my homes. Like last year would have been the year to stop Kansas City street. To show that they're not, you know, the team to beat. Buffalo had his shot in Buffalo. Baltimore had its chance in Baltimore and they couldn't do it. So, yeah, I understand why everybody assumes they get that top seed, they're going to win the Super Bowl. All I'm saying is this team isn't as dominant as some of the others. And I think beginning today, you know, things could get rockier than people anticipate because I don't think they end the season undefeated. No chance they do that. But then are they good enough to continue to win this way in those close games?
Myron Metcalf
What about the fact Mahomes and Josh Allen have played seven times up till today and Mahomes is six and one in those seven games? Does that matter to you?
Matt Jones
Yeah, I mean, Josh Allen could be on his way to being our damn Marino. And what I mean by that is a guy who is incredible, puts up gigantic numbers and never really has anything to show for it ultimately. I mean, Josh Allen doesn't have an MVP at this point, you know, forget Super Bowls. So he could be the odd man out in this conversation about great quarterbacks from this era. And if he can't beat Mahomes, if he can't, you know, beat Lamar or some of the other quarterbacks in the MVP race. So I think that's Kind of what we're watching from Josh Allen is he knows he has to beat Lamar Jackson. He has to be Patrick Mahomes in the playoffs and get a Super bowl in order for his legacy. Sorry, Mike Tyson, I think, to be complete.
Myron Metcalf
Can I ask you a question? Let's say the Chiefs win today. Okay. Let's say the Chiefs win today.
Matt Jones
Yeah.
Myron Metcalf
Will you finally stop questioning them if they've beaten all the best teams in the afc? Because they will have at that point and they are undefeated. Will you finally stop saying they're not.
Matt Jones
Good if they get saved on a last second field goal block again or if an opposing team makes a mistake? I mean, Todd Bowles not going for two if that's how they stumble into a win. No, I'll have the same questions about them winning.
Myron Metcalf
The Bills, the Ravens, the Bengals, all the teams on their schedule. And then you. You will still say, I have questions about them.
Matt Jones
I'll say that it's really difficult to keep winning that way. I mean, I'm also going against NFL history, right, when no one's won three in a row. So that's another element in all this. Right. And the last undefeated team we saw, the best team, was that Patriots team. Even they didn't win the Super Bowl. So there's a lot of history against Kansas City as well.
Myron Metcalf
On my text machine, which is 772-774-5254, where people can write in text.
Matt Jones
A beeper, by the way, you always say text machine. Is that a beeper? Like, what is it?
Myron Metcalf
It's a machine where it gives me texts. Like, they just cut. They come out and I read them. One person writes, myron is wrong about Caleb Williams. He's wrong about the Chiefs. But more importantly, how out of touch is he to think Netflix is only 9 99? Where is he getting his Netflix five years ago?
Matt Jones
Is I just automate all that stuff? I don't know. I don't.
Myron Metcalf
Let me ask you a question. Let's see how out of touch you are. How much does a gallon of milk cost?
Matt Jones
Come on, man. I just got a gallon of milk. Two something.
Myron Metcalf
How much?
Matt Jones
39 or something. 239.
Myron Metcalf
You think a gallon of milk is 239?
Matt Jones
319. I just got a gallon of milk.
Myron Metcalf
Gallon of milk.
Matt Jones
No, no.
Myron Metcalf
A gallon. I'll buy half gallon of milk right now is $4.35 in America.
Matt Jones
In what city?
Myron Metcalf
Where are y'all at in America?
Matt Jones
I also buy that country club milk, man. Hate to break the narrative of us piling on Myron. But you can get the cheapest Netflix subscription for 6.99. No, you can't say that again, Nick. I'm looking at.
Myron Metcalf
Netflix.
Matt Jones
Is more than Netflix. Netflix, if you know who to talk.
Myron Metcalf
To for new subscribers. What is the normal Netflix standard?
Matt Jones
Standard with ads. 6.99amonth with ads.
Myron Metcalf
Netflix with ads.
Matt Jones
But you get the Tyson fights though.
Myron Metcalf
Mikey does Netflix with ads?
Matt Jones
Yeah. Stinks, Mikey.
Myron Metcalf
You spend that on cigarettes a day?
Matt Jones
How in the world are you think cigarettes are 6.99?
Myron Metcalf
No, they're very expensive.
Matt Jones
How much do you think cigarettes?
Myron Metcalf
Cigarettes, Myron? Yeah.
Matt Jones
How much are cigarettes?
Myron Metcalf
I'm asking you. I know how much. No, I don't. I don't smoke, so there's no way I would know. I'm asking Myron. Card.
Matt Jones
What does he think? What's a card? Is that 18? No, not a cartoon.
Myron Metcalf
It's a pack. What's a pack of cigarettes, Byron?
Matt Jones
$11. Yeah.
Myron Metcalf
Now they're like 14. Now. Good night. Well, that's good.
Matt Jones
People should pay 14 a pound.
Myron Metcalf
That's why I got to do the $6. If you would just get rid of the cigarettes, you could have non ad Netflix and be healthier. Yes. Standard is $15 a month, Mikey, for.
Matt Jones
Netflix with no ads.
Myron Metcalf
There you go. $15 a month. I told you it's not 9 99.
Matt Jones
No, it's 6 99. Nobody's getting this less. No, we proved you wrong, man.
Myron Metcalf
Nobody's coming up next. Lamar Jackson is going for a second straight mvp. Myron is still scrolling through the ads so he can see the new ending.
Matt Jones
Of the Jake Paul fight by half gallons.
Myron Metcalf
That's half gallons. That's next on ESPN Radio.
Matt Jones
Football Sunday on ESPN Radio.
Myron Metcalf

Matt Jones
Since week nine of 2022, the Detroit.
Myron Metcalf
Lions are 28 and eight. The Kansas City Chiefs have won 15 straight games.
Matt Jones
12 have been by one score.
Myron Metcalf
So I'm looking at a team who.
Matt Jones
Look so formidable that they could possibly take you.
Myron Metcalf
Do not count out the 49ers. I counted them out a couple weeks ago because I frankly thought Christian MCAV is in Germany and this looks different. They compete in this nfc. Welcome back. It is cat out of kickoff on ESPN Radio. People are now sending in how much A gallon of milk is where they are.
Matt Jones
How much is it?
Myron Metcalf
Well, in Louisville, which is where I am, it's $2 and 39 cents.
Matt Jones
But in New York, a gallon is not 239. That's crazy.
Myron Metcalf
I don't believe that. But in, in New York people are saying it's like 675. So I guess it sounds on where you are, have you ever had raw milk? People are telling me like, you know, that's becoming a thing now. I think that sounds like maybe the grossest thing I can think of. But have you ever tried that?
Matt Jones
You mean like straight from a cow? Like what's the.
Myron Metcalf
I don't know if it's straight from a cow. I think there's probably like, I don't know that they literally like. I'm not asking you to go up to a cow and get it yourself. I'm just saying have you ever had the non pasteurized milk? Because I think it's.
Matt Jones
I don't know what it is who.
Myron Metcalf
Are saying that they want people to do that, but I think it's. It sounds just awful to me.
Matt Jones
I don't know what it is like non pat. Like what do you mean? They just don't put it through the process to.
Myron Metcalf
Yeah, they don't like clean it of bacteria stuff.
Matt Jones
Oh, is this the year 14?
Myron Metcalf
Is this the first time you've ever heard someone say raw milk? Like, like I think you could guess what it is.
Matt Jones
No, I mean, but raw to me means you're getting it straight from the cow. Like you know, fifth grade when we milked the cows at the farm, like then they let us milk the cow. Like that was Wrong.
Myron Metcalf
Did you go milk a cow in fifth grade?
Matt Jones
Oh.
Myron Metcalf
Raw milk is unpasteurized milk. It comes straight from the animal, usually cows, sheep, goats, donkeys, or camels. Wow. I didn't know there were donkeys or camels. The milk is raw in that. It hasn't been pasteurized like the milk you find at the grocery store, which goes through the pasteurization process.
Matt Jones
Yeah. So it's just straight. Somebody milks a cow, they put it in the fridge and they give it to you. Right. So.
Myron Metcalf
You ever had that?
Matt Jones
No, no, I've never. I milk the cow and drink the milk.
Myron Metcalf
But there's people who want. Like to make that legal for people like you to do. All right, just. I'm trying to keep you up on eight. Eight. Eight say yes. The.
Matt Jones
The circle that's trying to keep. That's having that conversation.
Myron Metcalf
I'm not. Well, it's not me. I don't. First of all, I don't drink milk, period. Last time I had a glass of milk. Wait, when I was 15 years old. No.
Matt Jones
Lactose intolerant.
Myron Metcalf
No. But who drinks milk?
Matt Jones
I'm with you, Matt. It's disgusting.
Myron Metcalf
Who sits. Yes, I'm with you. Who sits down and drinks milk? I'm.
Matt Jones
What do you know about calcium deficits, though?
Myron Metcalf
I mean, I get it in other places. Oranges blizzard.
Matt Jones
People who say they get calcium other places. Never get it from other places. There's no. There's no better source. There's calcium in a lot of stuff.
Myron Metcalf
There's calcium in Skittles. I think maybe breakfast. You know, like a glass of milk with breakfast. Mikey, do you sit down and just drink a glass of milk, just like, just put it in? No, no, but I mean, if I'm having breakfast, I might. That is psychotic behavior to drink a glass of milk.
Matt Jones
Tomorrow, fellas, we're all. Most of us are over 40. I want you to schedule a visit with your doctor and get your blood work done and make sure that you. You know, you guys are good. Because calcium is important, man.
Myron Metcalf
In all seriousness, you get up in the morning and drink a glass.
Matt Jones
I would drink milk now. I'm an almond milk guy, you know, So I drink almond milk. That's my preference, you know?
Myron Metcalf
Is there an animal.
Matt Jones
Yeah.
Myron Metcalf
Called an almond?
Matt Jones
No, but it's. It's. It's a. It's. It's more. There's more calcium in almond milk than cow's milk.
Myron Metcalf
I feel like it doesn't seem all that natural to me if it's not an animal. I mean, milk Comes from animals. I don't know.
Matt Jones
That's why I don't know what a gallon of milk costs. Because that's why I don't know what a gallon milk cost.
Myron Metcalf
The Ravens and the Steelers, I don't think those guys drink a glass of milk either. Each of their last eight meetings have been decided by seven or fewer points. It is always a battle when the Ravens play the Steelers, the one thing you're guaranteed is an intense game. It's at 1 o'clock. It's very rare in these 1 o'clock games we get a battle like this. It's an NFC north just clash. If Pittsburgh wants to win the division, they need to find a way to win. Pittsburgh has five straight wins outright as an underdog. They're going to be an underdog today. They've also played well against Baltimore. Four consecutive wins against the Ravens. How do you like this one going today in Pittsburgh?
Matt Jones
Well, one of the things I appreciated most was Mike Tomlin, when he was asked is Jaden Daniels like Lamar Jackson? And he made it clear there's only one Lamar Jackson. So I'm glad that he kind of put that to rest because Lamar Jackson is a different human being. I mean, I think he's on his way to his third mvp, the best player in terms of just most difficult matchup, I think, in the NFL. And the Steelers know that better than anybody else. I thought the Steelers, you know, if you look at some of the things they've done, I don't know how real they are. Russell Wilson kind of came back to earth last week in a game against the Commanders that the Commanders had it up by 10. They just couldn't close the show. So is Russell Wilson real or was the guy we saw last week more gonna be to what we see going forward? Right. And then that defense is always tough, but you're facing Lamar Jackson, who has more weapons than he's had in the past. So I think this favors Baltimore. But every time I think that with the Steelers, they prove me wrong. But I think this is going to be one of those games where you go, if the Steelers win this, start that super bowl talk seriously.
Myron Metcalf
Yeah, they're not going to the Super Bowl. But the. Right.
Matt Jones
But I Conversation. I'm saying in the conversation, that's all.
Myron Metcalf
Yeah, well, they'll be out. They'll be in the conversation of the teams I say are not going to the Super Bowl. But I do think what Mike Tomlin has done has been extremely impressive. I mean, for me, win or lose, Mike Tomlin he may not win coach of the year, but he. You could make an argument he should win coach of the year every year based on how good he does with the quarterbacks he's had. I mean, he's won. He's. He's had a winning record with, you know, Kenny Pickett, Mason Rudolph, and Duck Hodges. And now you give him Russell Wilson, an older Russell Wilson, and he's doing the same thing for me. I want to see the Ravens win a game like this, Myron. I do. I want to see them go on the road and win this. Pittsburgh has played well against Lamar over the years. This is more a test for me about Baltimore. Can you go win this game after a couple weeks where they haven't necessarily looked their best? Yeah.
Matt Jones
We haven't seen Baltimore do things consistently, right? Like, they'll get a couple wins, and then all of a sudden they. They come down to earth, you know? So you go in and win this game on the road in that building, I think you'll get a lot of respect. But listen, Lamar's face is the same thing that Josh Allen is. If you can't get through Mahomes at some point in your career, it'll change your legacy. But at least lamar could have three, four MVPs. When it's all said and done. He's on his way to getting his third this year.
Myron Metcalf
Corey writes in and says, mikey C. I had zero idea he was still at espn. This is my first time listening to show, but Mikey C. Brings me back. Van Pelton, Rusillo, Smoke breaks with Mikey C. Yeah. I mean, if you Google Mikey C, the first thing that comes up is, what happened to Mikey C. What happened?
Matt Jones
How old are you, man? How old is Mikey C?
Myron Metcalf
Yeah, how old are you? I'm like 40ish.
Matt Jones
What?
Myron Metcalf
40Ish?
Matt Jones
That's not an age, by the way.
Myron Metcalf
That's not an age. Ish.
Matt Jones
That is not an age.
Myron Metcalf
Mikey's age is just a number. And we are at the midway point in the season, actually halfway way. Who is the M.V.P. that's next. Hey, it's your resident super bowl champ, Chris Candy.
Matt Jones
Coming up Monday. Everyone knows I'm one of CJ Stroud's biggest fans, but I'll tell you, why I lost to the Cowboys will have me panicking. It's unsportsmanlike. 6:00am Eastern right here on ESPN Radio, ESPN2, and ESPN News. Thanks for listening to Matt and Myron the podcast. You can listen to the show live every.
