This is Matt and Myon, the podcast.
Myron Metcalf
Sunday morning doing Matt Myon here on the SBN radio hour number two. The final day of the Premier League has just kicked off. So not Chelsea playing Nottingham Forest. Myron. And the winner goes to the Champions League. Who you got? You got Chelsea or you got Nottingham Forest?
Matt Jones
I got the forest.
Myron Metcalf
You got the forest.
Matt Jones
Do they call him that? Do they call them the forest or do they call it.
Myron Metcalf
I don't know. I think they should, though. I like that name. Before us also, Max Verstappen. Verstappen just won the Monaco race. No, he won.
Matt Jones
Lewis Hamilton finished what, fifth?
Myron Metcalf
I didn't see him on the screen, so I think maybe, maybe he got distracted. But we got people on the phone. They're angry. It's hard to tell what people are angry about. Me saying Indianapolis Indiana is the second worst state or when people do this whole thing. You know, in the 80s, all the players are better than the players today, which I don't understand. There's no sport where we have objective measurements where the players in the 80s are better than the ones now. But Myron, people still want to insist. That's true about basketball.
Matt Jones
It's the only sport where they do it. I mean, no one does that in baseball or hockey or football. So it's okay that to me, all you could do is be as great as you can be in your era. Like, we can't ask Kareem to have been great now because he didn't play now. But at the same time, acknowledge, nobody argues like.
Myron Metcalf
Like Scotty Scheffler or Tiger Woods a few years ago. Nobody goes, old man Tom Watson or old man Tom Morris in 1916 was better. But they do that with basketball, which is very.
Matt Jones
They do. Hold on, hold on real quick, though. Hold on real quick.
Myron Metcalf
You.
Matt Jones
I think you gave the wrong winner of the Monaco race.
Myron Metcalf
It wasn't Max Verstappen.
Matt Jones
I think it was Landon Norris.
Myron Metcalf
Oh, well, it should have been Max Verstappen. I thought when I watched it, he crossed first. What happened? Did he. Did he run out.
Matt Jones
I just got a message from our.
Myron Metcalf
Producers that says, well, he would know better than me. Well, I don't know what happened at the end of the. I turned it off on the last lap because I figured he would finish it off, but I guess that didn't happen. All right, well then just don't. You know what, we only sort of know the facts here on Maxwell.
Matt Jones
Stopping was fourth. Lewis Hamilton was fifth.
Myron Metcalf
How did he come in fourth? He was in first. Well, I'm not going to argue with him anymore. Caitlin Clark has been obviously in the news a lot and she's had a lot happen this week. Obviously last week she had the run in with Angel Reese. Then on Thursday night, our three pointer streak broke, but they were still able to win over the Atlanta Dream and she and former University of Kentucky star Ron Howard had to be separated at one point during the game. Then yesterday there was a no call in a game and Clark and her head coach were not fans of it. I have a question for you, Myron. It seems like, you know, I watched, I was in, I was in Europe during the WNBA kind of resurgence last year and so I missed most of that whole thing. I watched a lot of both of the Indiana Atlanta games. There were two of them this week. And I thought the quality of play was great, it was nice to watch. But then the moment the game is over, it becomes like an online discourse that usually has nothing to do with basketball. It becomes about something else. Does that frustrate you or do you still think it's good for the overall game?
Matt Jones
No, I hate the way the conversation has been hijacked because we're not talking about basketball as much as we should be. And we could be. I also wonder, like, how long will people do this? Like Caitlin Clark, whether you like or not is the biggest thing in the wnba. And I'd argue that she's one of the five or six most famous basketball players in this country. Right. She. She is who she is. But everything just becomes about the other stuff. And we know a lot of it's, you know, race, culture, politics, all these different things. But at the same time, like, let's watch her as a basketball player. Let's watch the WNBA for the great basketball it's producing. I just fear the other stuff is going to become the narrative. And I don't know how you stop that.
Myron Metcalf
Yeah, I mean, it is. There's a part of it that is human nature. It's easier to talk about things that are divisions than it is to talk about whether or not she got fouled at the end of that game last night. Right. The Ryan Howard stuff is kind of interesting after the game because Ron Howard is not known as a very controversial player. But then I don't know that Caitlin Clark is either. They just get in a basketball argument that happens almost every night in the NBA. But it becomes a more symbolic thing when it's about Caitlin Clark. What is very frustrating, we talked about this last week is people that are bad faith actors in culture are trying to use every Caitlin Clark moment as a chance to get on their culture stool and make whatever point they want. I do hope, Myron, that stops. But I'm not sure that I see an end to it anytime soon. Do you?
Matt Jones
No. And let's take it a step further. It's the men doing this, right? Like it's a bunch of men who are watching the WNBA for all the wrong reasons. Like there are a bunch of dudes who are watching the league to be critical of some component of it. Whether or not that's Caitlin Clark or Angel Reese or whatever, whatever it is like that. To me, that's the group that's really polluted the conversation. And I think it's unfair because there are just some incredible things happening. Caitlin Clark ain't going away. As a matter of fact, she is going to change the entire league. She already has in terms of the attention, the money, all those elements.
Myron Metcalf
26. There was a, an estimate that 26% of WNBA revenue last year was directly traced to Caitlin Clark. Does that surprise you?
Matt Jones
Doesn't surprise me at all. And I think that number will continue to go up. I mean the, the wnba, whether people realize it or not, like their CBA is up after this season. They may go on strike for more money. And guess what? I think they're going to get it because of Caitlin Clark. Like we're on our way to the first million dollar WNBA player because of Caitlin Clark. And that's just a fact. And I just hope we can talk about basketball and not the other stuff. I will say she did say in the dust up with Ryan Howard she was like, I'm not scared of you. You probably should be like Ryan Howard. I've been around Ryan Howard. She's an assistant coach with Florida's team on the women's side. I would be a little afraid. You know, I don't know if that's a fight you want to deal with if you're Caitlin Clark. You know, I agree.
Myron Metcalf
Apparently not only did Lando Norris win, they said it in the update.
Matt Jones
During the segments, somebody always messed with me about not listening. You clearly aren't always listening to everything happening.
Myron Metcalf
Here's what happened. X Verstappen had to stop on the final lap because there's two mandatory pit stops. I didn't know that was a thing. Wait, what?
Matt Jones
He would have won without. He was.
Myron Metcalf
He was leading when I turned it. But apparently there are two mandatory pit stops in F1 and he had to stop again on the final lap.
Matt Jones
Why didn't he take it? Why didn't they plan that? That's weird.
Myron Metcalf
Maybe they did. You don't know. We didn't. Well, let's be honest. We didn't watch the race. They don't ever.
Matt Jones
I don't know.
Myron Metcalf
That's the most.
Matt Jones
Sometimes I just say stuff. Yeah.
Myron Metcalf
Really? Is that true? I had no idea. Sometimes I. Steve in Indiana is a high school teacher in Indiana. That's. That's very good of you to do that. What. What was your thought on my comments?
Caller
Well, first of all, I want to tell you guys, Matt and Myron, you are a joy to my day. When I listen to you, I agree with you 90 plus percent of the time. I mean that, Matt. Also my mother was born in Manchester, Kentucky, Clay County.
Myron Metcalf
Your mother was a good woman.
Caller
And her father was killed unfortunately down the coal mines next to Hazard county, which is Harlan. So at any rate, I got some Kentucky Ties. I love it. It is beautiful. You are right. But I want to mention one thing that I didn't intend to talk about, but about the basketball thing. I take Larry Bird today because he could compete in date and then of course he could.
Myron Metcalf
But the question is not about Larry Bird. Larry Bird could. The question is whether or not like some random, like the average player. I don't think anybody would argue Larry Bird could not play today.
Matt Jones
Get the seventh, eighth, ninth guys.
Myron Metcalf
On a average, the average player today is infinitely better than the average player was then.
Matt Jones
I think that's the case.
Caller
And the answer to that is I totally agree with you. Now here's the reason for my call because I have been blessed. This is my. Just finished my 34th year teaching high school coaching baseball and basketball. So I've. I've had. And I'm in Bloomington, so I've had a lot of people come across my life that I won't mention names as.
Myron Metcalf
Far as I just got like 30 seconds. You got to give it to me quickly.
Caller
All right, all right, very quickly. Angelo Pizzo had his kid in class. He lives in Bloomington. He made Rudy and Hoosiers Mellencamp's kid. I had three of his kids and one of his grandkids in class. They choose to live in Bloomington. Scott Roland, really?
Myron Metcalf
Remember, you're talking to me about people's kids and not the talented person who themselves went somewhere else.
Matt Jones
Now I think he's saying that people still live there. You know what, rich people, though, too. It's like, is that their primary residence? Do they.
Myron Metcalf
Yeah. I mean, that's nice. John Mellencamp is from Indiana. That's very sweet. He was born in a small town. I get that. But that's not enough for me and the other guy, I didn't know who that was, but thank you very much for saying. For saying nice things. James is in New Mexico. James, go ahead.
Caller
You were talking about the Indy 500.
Myron Metcalf
Yes. Yeah, they don't shower. They def. They might bathe, but in, like, dirty water. But go ahead.
Caller
Yeah, you're probably right about that.
Myron Metcalf
But that kind of like the pot calling the petal black. No.
Matt Jones
James, can I ask you a question? Are you. Are you calling us from a dream? Are you still asleep? Because it sounds like you haven't. You haven't even.
Myron Metcalf
Are you. Are you insinuating, James, that, like, people in Kentucky don't shower? Is that your insinuation?
Caller
No, I'm saying people in Kentucky, it's.
Myron Metcalf
It's pretty probable that your father and your uncle are the same person. Okay, see, that's just rude. That's very rude. See, I don't engage, James. I don't engage in stereotypes. I am just being very honest about. When you go to the Indianapolis 500, you come away gritty and with dirt on it. I'm not going to play into your Kentucky stereotypes because that is very rude. Myron and I don't engage in such things.
Matt Jones
Yeah, that's. I mean, that's the problem, though. When you start saying people don't shower, then people just. They just go to another level. Man.
Myron Metcalf
That's.
Matt Jones
Okay.
Myron Metcalf
Listen, this is the kind of thing people in Indiana do. They'll go to the.
Matt Jones
The people will go to the lowest.
Myron Metcalf
Rather than keeping the argument intellectual level. Then it has to get into personal insults.
Matt Jones
Yeah.
Myron Metcalf
And I don't appreciate it. 888, say ESPN. There's a lot more stuff to get to in sports. More on the NBA. Plus Guess, the Wildcat. And your calls. Sunday Headlines. That's next right here on espn.

Proud Gary, Indiana native.
Matt Jones
Yeah.
Myron Metcalf
Michael Jackson. What's your favorite Michael Jackson song? Meyer Metcalf if you gonna make a world better man.
Matt Jones
I mean it's hard to beat Thriller. Billie Jean. There's a YouTube. There's some like YouTube conspiracies out there that are funny about like Michael, Michael Jackson and like people think that he was like a Real tough dude behind the scenes, apparently.
Myron Metcalf
No, they think he, like, beat people up.
Matt Jones
I just saw a YouTube clip that said he beat up Tupac at a party one time. I'll send it to you.
Myron Metcalf
Stop it, people.
Matt Jones
It's like one witness who claims he saw.
Myron Metcalf
By the way, can I. Can I tell you the thing this week, James? That will be the. Matt Jones couldn't watch this under threat of law. And That's Aaron Rodgers. 3 hour and 26 minute interview with Joe Rogan. I mean, I think I'm pretty confident. Insane. If you. If anyone out there sat and watched all 3 hours and 26 minutes, you. And I just could not be. There would just be no way, Myron, for me to be friends with that person.
Matt Jones
But, I mean, this is where he's headed, right? I mean, post football. And Aaron Rodgers will be that. He'll have a podcast. Yeah, he'll just do that and it'll be.
Myron Metcalf
It will be awful. But, like, watch him. Well, let him watch. People watch a lot of things. That doesn't make it valuable, you know, I mean, people there. So there are people. I saw one time, 400,000 people just have the channel that just runs a fireplace playing at any given time.
Matt Jones
I haven't.
Producer
I haven't.
Matt Jones
I played it this week.
Myron Metcalf
You just play a channel that just runs a fireplace.
Matt Jones
It's so relaxing. Have you seen it? It's so relaxing, man. I will have it on. I will have it on, like, during the week, man. Just working. It's amazing.
Myron Metcalf
Well, there you go. We don't know who won the F1 race, but we do watch a fireplace here on Sunday Morning. Matt Meyer, let's do some Sunday headlines. Extra, extra. Read all about it.
Matt Jones
The Sunday headlines.
Myron Metcalf
All right, who's up first? All right.
Producer
Sorry to bring this up, Matt, but the Florida Panthers are one win away from an Eastern Conference final sweep of your Carolina Hurricane. They have outscored the Hurricanes in the series 16 to 4. The Hurricanes have lost 15 straight conference final games dating back to 2019 when they were swept or 2009 when they were swept by the Penguins. What do you. What do you think about this?
Myron Metcalf
That's one of the more amazing stats in sports, and I hate that it's against my team, but the Carolina. Or the Carolina Hurricanes. This is their fourth Eastern Conference finals where they've lost. They were swept in the other three, and they're down three. Oh, here. 15 straight losses in the Eastern Conference finals. On the one hand, you give them credit for making it. On the other hand, that's one of the more amazing stats Meyer and I can ever remember. And this series has been an absolute route so far.
Matt Jones
Yeah, I mean, it's amazing to go from that high to that low. I mean, they look like they're just on different levels right now, but that history only makes it worse.
Myron Metcalf
This was supposed to be a rebuilding year for the Carolina Hurricanes. Honestly, I mean, it's kind of crazy that they got this far, these teams from Florida. I mean, I genuinely think there shouldn't be hockey in Florida because why? And yet they're so good. Tampa Bay Lightning for years, and now the Florida Panthers. It's kind of frustrating that the state that probably cares about hockey the least has had the most success of any state in the last few years, but it is what it is, so. But they have been. Caroline has been absolutely demolished in this series. What's next?
Producer
The Panthers. They have a Kachuk. Brad, Marchand, Sam. Like, we were rooting for you guys. You know what I mean?
Myron Metcalf
Like, no. Why does. Okay, because I follow. Really? Only Carolina? Why does everyone hate Marchand and Tkachuk?
Producer
They're just, like, annoying on the ice.
Myron Metcalf
Okay, so they're like Aaron Rodgers, Oklahoma.
Matt Jones
City of On the ice.
Producer
Yes.
Myron Metcalf
Yeah, they're Aaron Rodgers on the ice. Right. And Carolina is like a fireplace just burning and getting destroyed.
Matt Jones
You should watch it.
Myron Metcalf
What's next?
Producer
Yeah, there's a rumor that Bill Belichick and his girlfriend, Jordan Hudson are engaged to be married.
Myron Metcalf
Good.
Producer
This comes from the name of Bill Belichick's boat apparently being changed to. From eight rings, you know, vii Roman numeral rings to one plus eight rings. So what do you guys think about that?
Myron Metcalf
First of all, good for them if they got engaged. Love can build a bridge. The Judds taught us that a long time ago. And I am. I think it's, you know, good if they're getting married. I do think changing the boat name, first of all, it's bad luck. I don't know if you're a boat guy at all, but if you change the boat name, that is bad luck. Secondly, I don't like this. The name 1/8 rings is a horrible name for a boat. So I'm anti the boat change name or boat name change. But if they want to get married, good for those young kids trying to make it work in today's society.
Matt Jones
Yeah. I mean, yeah, if they're happy. Like, I care about the Jordan Hudson, Bill Belichick stuff when it's a sports story. Right. Did she cancel Hard Knocks? Did she interrupt an interview or North Carolina, People getting nervous about her. Those are sports stories. The personal stuff doesn't matter to me. I mean, if they want to be together, I don't care. But I think we got.
Myron Metcalf
You know, it's bad luck to change name of a boat. Any, any person out on the lakes will tell you, do not change the name of boat. Even if you buy someone else's boat, you have to keep the name of the original boat.
Matt Jones
Yeah, rich people with boats love to talk about bad luck. You're. You're going to be okay. I don't think the luck can be that bad if you got a boat.
Myron Metcalf
But I mean, if you adopt a child, you don't change the name. You're not like all of a sudden.
Matt Jones
What Chad is a boat.
Myron Metcalf
I understand, but there's, there's a. It's bad luck to change to a boat.
Matt Jones
They're very similar.
Myron Metcalf
They're very similar in that they both will cost you a lot of money. And I don't have either one of them. So that's what, that's, that's, that's how it's similar. What's next?
Producer
Michael Jordan's longtime agent, David Falk has said about LeBron James. He said LeBron's like a top 10 player ever in the history league. But also he had this say about LeBron quote. I really like LeBron, but I think Jordan had cherry picked what teams he wanted to be on. And two other superstars. Jordan would have won 15 championships. That was what he told me.
Myron Metcalf
But he did have two other superstars. I mean, I saw that. And he did, he had, he had Scottie Pippen and Tony Kukoke, and then he had Scottie Pippen and Dennis Robin. So he always had two other superstars. First of all, I didn't know David Falk was still a thing. I hadn't heard that name in a long time until this story. I'm fine with him taking up for Jordan, but The idea that LeBron is only one of the top 10, that's nonsense. I don't care what your ranking is. He's at least in the top three, if not number two. I thought that was a petty comment, Myron.
Matt Jones
Yeah, I don't really get it. I don't get the LeBron hate. You know, clearly he's achieve things that no one ever has in this league. It'd be nice if he just got credit from that old school generation, but they just don't do it. I don't know what it is about them. They just don't Want anyone to be better than they were.
Myron Metcalf
It's so ridiculous. We just said this a minute ago in the NBA, everybody's like, back in my day, Shawnee, you came through the lane and they'd hit you with a two by four and you loved it. Like, that's, that's not how sports are. The guys are more LeBron. If LeBron played in the 80s and 90s, yeah, he's Carl Malone, but can move. I mean, like, it's just ridiculous to act like he's anything else.
Matt Jones
60 points a game. They were playing in tube socks and flip flops too. Like, it's a different. It's a different thing, man.
Myron Metcalf
Back in my day, Bill Lambert would have thrown LeBron into the crowd. It's like, watch out.
Matt Jones
Up and under.
Myron Metcalf
Yeah.
Matt Jones
Oh, no.
Myron Metcalf
I mean, LeBron could eat bill Lambert. Like, just stop it. College football playoff seating change is coming. Is it good? That's next.
Matt Jones
Matt and Myron the podcast.

Matt Jones
Yeah. It'll be different, you know, it'll be a unique. I've never been like a cma.
Myron Metcalf
You never been music anything, right? And now you're gonna be ready.
Matt Jones
I've never been on country music show.
Myron Metcalf
We're gonna stay because at 8 o' clock. Cameron, I want you to play. Come into the next segment. Zach Top. I never lie. Okay, so like Zach Top is this country singer that is, is. Is young, new, but he sings music that's like, 90s country style. And I don't like new country music. I think new country music isn't great, But I love Zach Topp, and he's playing that night after our show, and I'm gonna take you, and we're gonna go. So we're gonna go here. Is that.
Matt Jones
Are you.
Myron Metcalf
Are you for it?
Matt Jones
Maybe. I may have plans.
Myron Metcalf
Why do you not want to hang out with me? You don't want to go see Zach Top?
Matt Jones
I do. I may have some people I might be hanging out with.
Myron Metcalf
What people? Bring them. I can get them in.
Matt Jones
You want?
Myron Metcalf
You want? Yeah, bring your people. We can all go. I can get them in. Zach Tops manager is a fan of. He's from Kentucky. We can get him in. You want to go relate?
Matt Jones
Yeah, I'll go. Is he related to, like, he's not related to zz?
Myron Metcalf
No, he's just. He's just. His name is Zach Top and he sings a song. He sings. I'm telling you, whatever people. Whatever people you got. First of all, I don't believe you have any people, but if you have people, you bring them with us to Zack.
Matt Jones
So is it the. Like, where is this? Is everything on Broadway? Is there a stage?
Myron Metcalf
Some of it is. Some of it is. There's stages in various places, and I think they use some of the arenas and stuff for stuff for things as well.
Matt Jones
But really, real people.
Myron Metcalf
Real.
Matt Jones
They're getting.
Myron Metcalf
Like, we real people. They're not.
Matt Jones
I mean, when I. When Evan reached out, you know, our producer, he was like, hey, all these big acts. And I thought it was a joke. I'm like, wait, all these guys are gonna come?
Myron Metcalf
It's a huge thing. It's a huge thing. It's like, this is Nashville at its best. So we're gonna go see Zach Top. I'll make sure to try to introduce you to Shaboozi. So you feel like you've. You've met. You've made your. Met your hero there.
Matt Jones
I might suggest that, like, another song might be a good idea. Like, I may suggest, like, let's on the air. Come up with a.
Myron Metcalf
He's got this one. This is the one he needs. So that's two weeks from now, we are at CMA Fest, and I'm going to introduce Myron to Zach Top. I'm telling you, you're going to like it. When you're down there, you'll probably meet a lot of people that are college football fans in the Nashville area.
Matt Jones
Yeah.
Myron Metcalf
And some big news. Well, there's some big news which Is they are going to change the seating now in the college football playoffs. It will be based solely on record winning or solely on standings. Winning the conferences will not get you a buy, so you will not have what you had this year when Arizona State and Boise State got the buy. Do you like. Let's start with. Do you like that change?
Matt Jones
I love it. I mean, we shouldn't have played a college football playoff with a different seating system. Like, I never understood the, the idea of rewarding conference champions with the top four seeds. You know, if they're trying to be the NCAA tournament, well, then that doesn't make sense because that doesn't happen in the NCAA tournament. You just give the best teams the top seed. So I think it's a really good change, especially if they expand the field again. I actually think every single league should do it that way. Like, I don't think winning a division in the NFL should just automatically allow you to host a home game in the opening round of the playoffs. Like, that doesn't feel fair to me. Just because you win the NFC South. So give us true seating across the board. I'd be in favor of it.
Myron Metcalf
There are people who would argue, though, that makes the conference, regular season and championship game matter less. Do you care about that? I mean, would you be okay with a playoff or. Three of the top four seeds are SEC or Big Ten teams.
Matt Jones
100%. I mean, they're the best teams. Like, like, again, winning a conference, winning a division should get you in, but it shouldn't give you more than that. I mean, that's the weird part is the idea of, well, you won a league. What if that league isn't good? Like, what if that league is down? I don't know why we reward people in that situation.
Myron Metcalf
All right, so what about the, the. The reports of, of demands that when they go to 16, that the SEC is going to demand four spots, big 10, four, ACC, two, big 12, two, then one for the group of five or whatever, and then there'll be three more for everyone else. Do you, do you think that's unfair of the Big Ten and SEC to do? Or would you say they have the leverage? Have at it.
Matt Jones
It's unfair, but you're not going to stop them. I mean, if you're in those other leagues, be glad they didn't say, we're keeping everybody out. I mean, because that's the power they have. Like, the SEC in the Big Ten could say, all right, everybody, we're going to be the bulk of the playoff, play our own Championship. So they have the power, they have the money, the influence, and it just sort of is what it is. It's not fair, but it's also where we're at in sports right now.
Myron Metcalf
But life is not fair, right? In some ways, yeah.
Matt Jones
I mean, I know what you do about it.
Myron Metcalf
Well, the other thing is, I would say 90% of the years, Myron, I think those schools would get. Those conferences would get four in anyway. Right. Like, I don't know that there's. If there's a 16 team playoff. I'm not sure there's ever going to be a year, Meyer, where the SEC doesn't get four in. Right. Like, I mean, even if you didn't have the thing, they're going to get four in. I think it's very likely the Big Ten would get four in almost every year. There might be a year where they would have only gotten three, and now you're guaranteeing the fourth. But the reality is those conferences are so big and there are so many power programs in them, Myron, that I think the four was going to happen anyway. So part of what I don't really understand about the outrage about it is this was. I just think this is just codifying what we already knew was going to happen.
Matt Jones
Yeah. I mean, as an SEC guy, I mean, it's probably easier for you to digest, but I think people on the outside are going, what happens when they want even more? I think the concern is that there's nothing stopping the Big Ten and SEC from going even farther. Right. From saying, okay, now we want five or six teams. So I just think there has to be at some point an agreement that you're not just going to continue to give them more and more automatic bids so you make room for the rest of college football. Because if you don't, then you might as well put the Big Ten and SEC in their own division with their own.
Myron Metcalf
Well, but I worry that might happen. All right, so what about the SEC and Big Ten are talking about. Let's assume that they get it to where they get four teams in. They're talking about doing what they basically do in. We were talking about British soccer, but so they're talking about championship weekend. The SEC championship game would be team one versus two. Both of them are in the playoff and then team three in the SEC would play team six and team four would play team five, and then those winners would go to the playoffs. So basically six teams would have a chance. Do you like that?
Matt Jones
It'll be fun. But. But in terms of the Larger picture. Like it feels like we're going to have two leagues in college football by the end of the decade.
Myron Metcalf
But don't you think that's fun though to have those two games on championship weekend? That would matter.
Matt Jones
They are. Unless you're a fan of the Big 12 or you're a fan of another league. Like when does it could do the same thing.
Myron Metcalf
I mean the Big 12 could give their championship to the, to the winner and then two could play three if they wanted.
Matt Jones
But here's where it bothers me. Here's where I think you're going to have the real impact of this. I know the Big Ten in sec they've agreed to do this non conference thing. Like you're not going to get an SEC team to go and play a Big 12 team that could threaten their resume. Like we're not going to get to me the same non conference action we would normally get as people try to sort of protect their opportunity to get one of those big.
Myron Metcalf
But then you could get it conceivably in the playoff. I mean there would be the, the chance to see an SEC versus a Big 12 game becomes in the playo. I mean there's the reality is the games you're going to lose if we, if they if is you're going to lose like those rivalry games the last week of the season, your South Carolina versus Clemson, your Florida versus Florida State, Kentucky versus Louisville. I do worry, Myron, that those games are in peril under this new system and those are in a lot of cases big time rivalry games.
Matt Jones
Well, and I think to me college football has become national in terms of how we talk about it. But you know this college football is built on the local level, the regional level. Like that's where the college football what it's about, it is about those rivalry games. It is about, you know, those matchups by region. And I just think, you know, we're making this Big Ten in SEC and maybe blocking everybody out and I don't know if that's good for the game.
Myron Metcalf
Well and they know Notre Dame and usc. There's some talk that USC was going to try to get out of the series with Notre Dame. And then I saw was it one of USC's biggest donors was like you get no more of my money if you don't do the Notre Dame series anymore.
Matt Jones
That ended that.
Myron Metcalf
But I mean but that would be another game that would potentially be imperiled. I mean we already saw in college basketball, UCLA has pulled out of series that make them go to the east coast because they're like, we already go to the east coast now seven times a year. We don't want to do it. I think you're going to. You're going to see more of that, especially for those teams out on the west coast playing in the Big Ten that are having to come across the country so much.
Matt Jones
Yeah, I just think we're headed to a world where it's the big 10 in the SEC and that's its own division, and then there's going to be a second division, because I don't. At some point, how do you compete? You know, like at some point, if that's kind of the stronghold on the game is owned by those two leagues.
Myron Metcalf
But the good thing is it's the sec, and that's the best conference, Myron. And now be fun football. Yes, the SEC is, the SEC is, is, is king. And the Big Ten won the title last year, so they're not, not that much far behind. The NBA playoffs are on ESPN Radio. You can catch postseason action. The Pacers host the knicks in game three of the Eastern Conference finals. Coverage begins at 7:30 Eastern on ESPN radio and the ESPN app presented by. Indeed. Zach Top is the guy's name. And then. Myron, you want to meet Shaboozi James, can we. Can we get Myron to meet Shaboozi? He. Hootie, first of all, he's. He, he's called Darius Rucker. He's not Hootie. He doesn't like it if you call him Hootie. You know that.
Matt Jones
He takes it personally.
Producer
Whenever you meet Hootie, don't call me.
Matt Jones
No. Does he? No. Does he take it personal for real?
Myron Metcalf
He makes the argument and it's a terrible argument. That Hootie and the Blowfish. He was not Hootie and the band was not the Blowfish. That was just the name they took. It's a horrible argument. I agree with you. He's like, how could people have thought I was Hootie and they were the Blowfish? And I was like, how could they not have thought it?
Producer
Literally the name.
Myron Metcalf
It's literally the name.
Producer
The band.
Myron Metcalf
But he says it's more of a symbol than it is him.
Matt Jones
All right, Darius, that's for the company. I'll do it.
Myron Metcalf
We will play a game and more. Get ready, Myron, for CMA Fest right when we return. This is Sunday Morning Matt and Myron.
Matt Jones

Matt Jones
Yeah, I could. Yeah, I could probably get into it.
Myron Metcalf
Okay. You need to talk in the microphone. Don't be so excited about it. You don't talk in the mic.
Matt Jones
I said I could maybe get. I can. You know, it's not my country in general, isn't my cup of tea, but I can appreciate good music.
Myron Metcalf
All right. Will you wear a cowboy hat with me? Will you wear a cowboy hat?
Matt Jones
Well, I feel like the cowboy hats that people wear are serious.
Myron Metcalf
What do you mean they're serious?
Matt Jones
I don't want to spend.
Myron Metcalf
No, no, we'll get you a cheap one.
Matt Jones
You can get.
Myron Metcalf
You could get one for 20 bucks. It'll be my gift.
Matt Jones
I don't wear cheap hats. Hold on.
Myron Metcalf
It'll be my gift to you, like a holiday gift.
Matt Jones
And boots. I don't think anybody wants me to wear. Like, I'm not wearing.
Myron Metcalf
You don't need to wear boots. I don't want you to, like, tuck your jeans in the boots. I just want you to wear a cowboy hat. Plus, Zach top. Everyone wears cowboy hats. That. So I need you to wear it to kind of fit in. Right?
Matt Jones
Okay. Well. Yeah. Okay, well, if you know how to get a cowboy hat.
Myron Metcalf
If. You know what, I'll get you a cowboy hat. Don't you worry. I've. I've got a couple that would.
Matt Jones
I need to fit it. I got a big head, so, like, I can't have a tight.
Myron Metcalf
I got a big head, too. I got one for you. It's black. It'll be perfect.
Matt Jones
Wait, It's a used cowboy hat. I don't want to use. I don't.
Myron Metcalf
Do you. Sorry. I'm not buying you a complete.
Matt Jones
I'm not at that point in my life. No, I don't do cowboy. I'm sorry.
Myron Metcalf
All right, so I want to tell you quickly before we play our little game here. Friday night was the maddest I've ever been at a sporting event that didn't involve Kentucky. I went to the Reds and the Cubs Friday night and the Reds were up 6 to 2 in the seventh inning and proceeded to give up 11 runs. And most of them. That's not good. They put in this guy named Ian Jabot, who is my least favorite player to ever play not named Aaron Rodgers. And they got absolutely shellacked. And I found myself, Myron, like, sitting in the stands. I am a grown man and I'm like, murmuring to myself and I'm getting angry. And so you know what I did? I just left for my health. Have you ever been so upset as a fan in a game that for your own well being, you decided you couldn't talk about or watch the game anymore?
Matt Jones
No, I don't think I've ever been to dad to that degree that upset. But that's. That's a different level. The Reds will do that. But I feel like what you're dealing with is not like about this year. This is a lifetime.
Myron Metcalf
Yes. They haven't got. The Cubs have a guy, James. What's his name? Old Crow Medicine show or something. The guy that's good on the team. Jace Crow, Medicine. What's his name?
Producer
I'm not sure. I'd have to look that up. Sorry.
Myron Metcalf
He's like, really good. He's there. He's their cleanup hitter. His name, I know Crow is in the name somewhere, but he hit a grand slam and I just. I just got up and walked out, which it was the seventh inning, but I just walked out of the stadium.
Matt Jones
I mean, the Reds, I mean, see, I felt like, you know, when Knicks fans. The shot that Halliburton hit, like, that wasn't just about the shot. That was years of pay. And I feel like.
Myron Metcalf
Yes, it was. You've dealt with the Reds have that exact same thing. All right, so we're playing a game on here, by the way, and we're presented by Progressive Insurance. You can get a business insurance quote online in as little as seven minutes. Visit progressive commercial.com. during the summer, they're bringing on former Kentucky Wildcats or people associated with with Kentucky, and we will interview them as guests. And I have to guess who the guest is this week. So it is time once again, James, to play guess that Wildcat.
Producer
Yeah, we had production but it disappeared and I don't know where it is. So we're just going to have to go with game show music. All right, your first clue. This person played center at Kentucky, so.
Myron Metcalf
If they play center, there could be a lot of people. Myron Anthony Davis. I doubt we were able to book him this morning, so I'm going to guess it's not him.
Matt Jones
Mark Pope.
Myron Metcalf
Yeah, Mark Pope. Plate center. That would actually be a good. He's the current coach. That would be a heck of a pull. But were either of those correct? Okay, so that's wrong. All right, so let's give me another guess and I'll get it on the second.
Producer
All right, this person was at Kentucky from 1996 to 2000.
Myron Metcalf
Okay. So 1996 to 2000. I. I believe I know the. I believe I know the answer at this point. Once you say that, and if it's who I think it is, it might be my favorite Kentucky player of all time. So I hope you're not teasing me, Myron. 96 to 2000. Do you have a guess?
Matt Jones
Scott Padgett.
Myron Metcalf
Well, Scott Patchett wasn't a sinner, so I don't think he would be the one powerful. All right, so, James, I'm going to guess the guy I think it is. Is it Jamal McGlore?
Matt Jones
Oh, Jamal McGlory.
Myron Metcalf
Jamal McGlore. Do you. First of all, do you know how happy this makes me? I'm going to tell you a little fact, James. I. You didn't even know this. So I got my start on message boards. Do you know what a message boards are, Myron? James? Like back in the day.
Producer
I'm 40.
Myron Metcalf
Oh, yeah, I know it is pre social bracket. Pre. Well, you know, I'm just for the.
Matt Jones
Kids, talk to us like we're 22. Like back in the day. Do you know what the Internet is?
Myron Metcalf
So when I started, I started on message boards in like 1999, 2000, getting on message boards pre. Pre social media, etc. And I, you know, you have to pick Myron a handle the name you're going to be when you get on a message board. And when I played high school basketball, my. My number was 52. Okay. Which is where all the good players are. 52. And my favorite player at UK was Jamal McGlore. And so I made my Internet handle McGlore52. And now he will be. I started my Internet career being McClure 52. And now he's going to be on here.
Matt Jones
Yeah, he's. He played for a long time. The NBA, too. I mean, I think 12 years. Over a decade.
Myron Metcalf
For 12 years. Is he still. Does he work with the Toronto Rapt?
Matt Jones
Is.
Myron Metcalf
Does he still do that? He did that for a long time.
Producer
I'm not sure.
Myron Metcalf
You may remember this. When the Raptors won the title. Do you remember he, like, almost got in a fight with one of the players on the sidelines. Do you remember that or no? The ref, he was, like, yelling, There's a famous picture of him. Do you remember that, Myron?
Matt Jones
I remember that. I remember that. He. He won a title with Tubby.
Myron Metcalf
Won a title with Tubby. Also, some people may remember in a famous game against Duke, he put Steve Wojahowski into a, like, wrestling move and Billy Packer complained he was breaking Wojo's back. That's. That's a. That's a famous picture. So. You made me very happy now, James. Did you know that? How happy you made me?
Producer
I did not. I did not know that Jamal McGlory was your favorite Kentucky player ever.
Myron Metcalf
You're going to hear me very excited at 12:30.
Matt Jones
The cat.
Myron Metcalf
The Knicks and the Pacers play today. Who's going to win? And can the Knicks come back from all the disappointment in New York? That's next here on Sunday Morning on ESPN Radio.
