Shador Sanders slid into the fifth round. We're going to take go back to the calls. Let's do a couple other quick draft notes. Outside of Shador, I said Jackson Dark's going to be a bust for the Giants. I'm pretty good once every couple years I tell you a bus and I have a pretty good range of them. I said Zach Wilson would be a bust. Got that one. Said Anthony Richardson would be a bus. Got that one. Put me down for Jackson Dart bust. One of the great things about Lane Kiffin, one of the reasons he's such a good coach, is he's a system guy that can put anybody in there and it makes it work. But that makes me very hesitant to use his guys on the next level, especially at a position like quarterback. I think the Giants screwed up there. Yeah.
Matt
And it's the Giants. If there's something there, they're not going to get it out of them. So I agree. I don't think it goes well.
Myron
Yeah, I don't, I don't think that's, that's much. What about some of the. Do you like trading up for Travis Henry or Travis. Travis Hunters.
Matt
Travis Hunter. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, I think you, you have to. I mean that's a lot. They gave up, I don't think. But I don't think he can play both ways in the NFL.
Myron
I saw trading up for if he doesn't play both ways isn't the reason. Yes. If he's an elite for him, if he's going to play both ways because.
Matt
You think he can be elite at one of those spots. Like you think he can either be an elite receiver or an elite cornerback, but he can't be both. Like as great as he is, I think the talent is there.
Myron
But can he be in elite once.
Matt
We get to week eight, can he.
Myron
Play it be an elite quarterback that occasionally plays at wide receiver?
Matt
I mean, he's not playing at the University of Hawaii or something like that, like in the NFL. I don't know how you do it. Like, I think, I think they'll try it and we get to like week eight, week nine, it'll be over.
Myron
Mike Tannen.
Matt
Bob.
Myron
Mike Tannen. Bob thinks it was reckless. Here's what he said.
Caller
They were certainly aggressive, some would say reckless. We'll see. You know, they got a great player. They gave up a tremendous amount of value. We'll see how it plays out. There's no doubt that Travis center is a great player. When you give up a future first round pick, that comes with a lot, a lot of risk. You don't know what's going to happen to your team. You don't know what's going to happen with your quarterback. You don't know what next year is going to look like. But Travis center should be a great.
Myron
Player and a lot of risk because Jacksonville might not be good next year. So that might be a high pick you gave away.
Matt
Yeah, it's possible. But I understand if you see him as elite at one of those spots, I think he can be an elite receiver. I think that's where he'll play and, and you'll use him in like special packages, maybe on defense. But if he's a top level receiver, then it is worth it. I just don't think he can do both. And I think that'll become potentially a distraction if they're trying to force that and it's not working.
Myron
Do you like Ashton Genti going to the Raiders at 6? Pete Carroll gets his. Marshawn Lynch.
Matt
I think that's the worst pick in the first round.
Myron
Really?
Matt
You never pick a running back top 10. I don't even think you pick a running back in the first round.
Myron
Crazy.
Matt
In today's NFL, Ashton Genti is a phenomenal talent. I would not draft a running back in the first round because. Because if, if you, if you are in a top 10 spot, I guarantee that you need more than running back.
Myron
No, that's true. I think if I'm Ashton Genty, besides the money, I would have liked to have fallen to the bears at 10. Right. Because.
Matt
Yeah, that.
Myron
Then you. The, the problem is when you're running back, by their very nature, you got to have help. Right? You can't do it by yourself.
Matt
Yes, that's the thing.
Myron
And I wonder if going to the Raiders, he's going to have to do too much by himself. Whereas if he'd gone to the Bears, a team that I think is better than the team that where they, the spot where they picked, he might have been in really good shape. So I think he, I, I think you can take a running back in the top 10, but you need it to be like a final piece, not the building piece. And I worry about with the Raiders.
Matt
It'S the building piece and that's my challenge. Ashton Genti, I think is one of the best running back prospects we've ever seen. But you can't pick a running back in the first round. The value just isn't there. And I think that was a mistake.
Myron
Reggie is in la. Go for it, Reggie. Reggie.
Matt
You drop, we drop.
Myron
All right. Lost Reggie. Let's go to Jeff in Denver. Jeff. Go ahead, Jeff.
Caller
Hey, good morning, guys. I've been watching pro and College football since 1964. I've been living in Denver since 1978. So I've seen John Elway play his whole career.
Myron
I got your, I got your resume. Just give me your opinion.
Caller
Hang on, hang on. I've watched all the imposters at quarterback play here since Manning retired. This kid Sanders is a great quarterback. He's the biggest warrior on the field. He was sacked more than 50 times in 2023. He was sacked more than 40 times last season.
Myron
He is that good. Like, I can get. To be honest with you, J. I'm not trying to be rude to you. I can get sacked 50 times. Like, what does that do?
Caller
He's an accurate passer. He's a pocket passer. The only knock on him, the only knock on his passing is he's got a B arm, not an A arm. So why did he drop?
Matt
But that matters, though. But a B arm in the NFL matters a lot. And basically you're saying he's a great boxer. He gets punched in the face a lot and keeps getting up. Like, at the end of the day, nobody's telling me that he's an elite talent. And that is what conversation we need to have this week. Do you think Shadur Sanders can lead a franchise? Do you think he can become a franchise?
Myron
He's not really a sc.
Matt
No one's told me. Everybody.
Myron
I think, I think a lot of people who didn't watch him play a lot and I appreciate the call. A lot of people didn't watch him play a lot. Think his dad was this crazy great athlete, which he was. And was a. Was amazing on his feet, which he was. And they think his son's that. But that's not how his son play. No, his son, his son stays in the pocket. His son is like almost old school in the way he plays. Like, he doesn't really play. Like if you were to sit there and say, who is more of a modern passer? Him or, you know, well, there weren't a ton of scramblers in this year's draft. But like, but he's old school. The other thing is, let me just say getting sacked 50 times. I heard that stat a lot. Yeah, I could get sacked 50 times. Like anybody can get sacked 50 times. Like the question is, what do you do? Weird thing, say, you know, he got sacked off 150 times. Well, so did I. You know, that doesn't do anything.
Matt
But he kept getting back up. Well, I'm glad he didn't. I'm glad he got back up.
Myron
Nice.
Matt
The other thing is the pocket passers. It's hard to do it as a big guy. You don't see a lot of 6 foot 1, 200 pound pocket passers in the NFL.
Myron
You need a guy if you're gonna be a pocket passer. You better be built like Tom Brady. You better be six four, six five. And he's six one, so there's a lot of that. Joe in la. Go ahead, Joe.
Caller
How you guys doing? I want to weigh in on the Shedeur thing as well. I'm actually a Colorado State fan, so I despised Shador obviously when he was at cu and I didn't like some of his antics and whatnot. But what I just saw him when he was drafted and they had that footage of him at his house or whatever. And just the way he showed joy, he showed like a lot of character in that moment. I thought that he was, I thought that he was gonna maybe be a little bit despondent, a little bit like have the turn tail of it. Not maybe not even do anything and not show himself. But that, that actually changed my opinion about that.
Myron
Joe, I agree with you, actually. I think I'm glad you bring that point up because I will say, for as bad as I think they handled things before, I actually think he handled it pretty well in the moment. Right. Like I thought when I saw those videos. I thought he seemed like he was in good spirits. You know, his dad didn't come out and rant. His dad kind of smiled like, oh, well, I guess that's the way it's gonna be. I. I think I do wonder, and we'll never know because we don't know these people really. I do wonder if the whole process humbled them a little bit. I think there was a force of will from Dion that thought he could will his Dionness that he had as a player and even as A coach to his son as a prospect and it didn't happen. And I do wonder if maybe Myron, there was a little bit of humbleness of, oh, okay, we weren't able to do exactly what we wanted.
Matt
I mean, I, I probably more disappointed anything else. Like, I never thought like they had to be humbled or anything like that, or that there were these giant character issues. I just thought from the beginning we were talking about a second or third round prospect. Like he was a top five prospect at that position. And I think that's where all the disappointment comes for everybody.
Myron
Yeah.
Matt
So I think that's how we ended up.
Myron
They had to be humbled. No, I just think sometimes you get humbled, you know, sometimes you walk into a situation and you think, I thought I could do this and I didn't. You know, I mean, that can happen. I'll just use one in my personal example in my life, like when I took my first national job, which was with CBS Sports, I assumed I would have the same success I had locally and I really didn't. I wasn't very good at it. And there was a humbling there. So that then when my next national job came later, which was espn, I think I was more ready for it because I had been humbled. I wonder if they had just a little bit of that happen.
Matt
We'll find out. Because I think the thing that's real in all this is Shador Sanders still gets a chance to play in the NFL and prove that he can be an elite guy. So, like, how does he use all this the rest of the way? I think that'll be interesting to see.
Myron
We'll see. All right, well, listen, good conversation. And for those of you that called, thank you very much. The rest of you, you know, we'll get you next time. And I'm going to go over here and get sacked 50 times because that's going to show you how good I am. There are other things happening in the world of sports, though. It's not just Shador. There are random stories that you need to know. We'll make sure you hear about them next on Sunday Headlines.

Matt Myron here on ESPN Radio, presented by Progressive Insurance. We've talked a lot of NBA. We've talked to some Shador. I'm sure we'll do more, but there are other things happening in the world of sports and Meyer Metcalf and I, we don't like to be one dimensional. So let's do some of them. Let's do some Sunday headlines. Extra, extra. Read all about it. Read all about it.
Matt
The Sunday headlines.
Myron
Sunday headline. These are the stories behind the stories. James is with us. Give us a few here.
Matt
Yeah.
James
So yesterday, Arizona Diamondback slugger, former Cincinnati Red, Eugenio Suarez.
Myron
No, no, no. Not Eugenio. A huge. All right. He played for the Reds. He was terrible here his last couple years. A who Hanio. Suarez. All right.
James
A who Hanio. Not. Not really.
Matt
Say it for real.
Myron
That is how you say it. Hey, O. Suarez. It's not Eugenio. Or would you say that's what it looks like?
James
It looks like.
Myron
It does look like it's a Johano. I don't know if that's what they say on. But that. They taught us how to say that when he was here.
James
Right, Heyuanio.
Matt
I gotta look this up. Sounds. Not that sounds like you put some Kentucky in that. I don't know. That sounds like that Kentucky Spanish. I don't know, man. I don't know about that.
James
Not. Not having a great season with the Diamondbacks either. Entered yesterday's game batting 167 with six home runs and 15 RBI, but left a lot yesterday's game with 10 home runs and 20 RBIs because he had four home runs yesterday, guys.
Myron
Yeah. First of all, what a crazy thing. He was hitting 167 going into yesterday by 167. And then he hits four. Four home runs in one game. You know, Bob Horner did that in 1986 in a game. I still remember watching on WTBS. But no one's going to talk about this, but that's a pretty amazing accomplishment for a guy hitting.167.
Matt
It is. And I got to apologize to you. You were right. Au Hanio.
Myron
Thank you.
Matt
How you say his name.
Myron
How all of you act like I couldn't know I have season tickets. I watched this guy play for years, and they would say, a who, Hanio. And I always thought it was funny. A guy who has seven letters in his name, five syllables. A who, he. Oh, that's a lot.
Matt
Au Hang. Yeah. Au Hanyo. No, it's Au Han. I'm looking at it.
Myron
Well, you're looking wrong. Fake news.
Matt
See.
Myron
I'm just telling you.
Matt
I was looking right at us.
Myron
A whole four home runs. But that is an amazing accomplishment, right? I mean, four home runs in one game. Did they lose?
James
Yeah, they lost. Eight to seven.
Myron
They lost.
Matt
He hit four home runs.
Myron
Still lost.
James
But he's only the 19th player in MLB history to hit four home runs.
Matt
But Au Hail sounds like somebody who downloaded Rosetta Stone before a trip to Mexico tomorrow. You know what I mean? Like, that's how you sounded a little bit like the name is, by the.
Myron
Way, on the list of 19 guys who've done it. I think I remember seeing this before. It's like a random list of people, isn't it, James? It's like. It's like people that even. Good. It's just like random dudes, isn't it? Are you there, James? Are we still on the. Sorry. What?
James
Sorry. What was that?
Myron
I was saying to you. The 19 James is still trying to see. Now, I've got a home run call of him if you want to see what the announcer say. Okay, let's see what the announcer said.
Matt
Yeah, what did I say?
Myron
This is courtesy of Arizona Sports 98.7 FM. I don't know if they know what they're talking about. Swung on high fly ball, deep left field. Bellinger, back track wall. It is gone. Grand slam.
Advertisement Voice
SW Torres.
Myron
You're not even going to say his first name as the Diamondbacks now take a 7 to 4 lead.
Matt
Guy only hits home runs.
Myron
That's all he does.
Matt
Why we play that call today?
Myron
Well, that's why, James. Look up the 19 people that have made it. Look at the most recent ones. I think there was a guy on the Cardinals who, like, wasn't even good. Bob Horner. It's like the most random people that have hit four home runs in a game. See if you can find it, we'll. We'll do it in a minute. What's your next.
Matt
How do you keep pitching to a guy in order for him to get Suarez? He was hitting 67. I'm hitting you. I'm hitting you by the fifth inning. All right, I'm sorry. I ain't. I ain't pitching you no way.
James
I don't think anyone knows how to say his first name and because every single highlight that we have, it's just swore.
Myron
Well, I know, and it's right. Bob Horner.
Matt
I'm looking at the things it says. Au Haney. Oh, I'm looking at baseball reference dot com.
Myron
Baseball reference.
Matt
Baseball reference.
Myron
Words. I'm. Go ahead. Just. What's our next.
James
Real Madrid denied they were considering boycotting Saturday final against Barcelona. Am I saying Barcelona? Right. Despite skipping Friday's pregame news conference and training session in protest over comments made by the refereeing team, a couple of referees spoke about Madrid's frequent criticism of officials and video broadcast on Real Madrid TV that led to reports that Madrid could boycott the final.
Myron
This is an amazing story. Real Madrid was about to play in their equivalent of, like, the NCAA championship. And before the game, they were just like, we might not play because we think the referee's biased. I mean, can you. And then. And so before the game started, even a few hours before, they weren't sure that Real Madrid was going to show up. These are not two little teams. This is Real Madrid and Barcelona. It's El classico Copa del Rey. And they almost threatened to not show up because of the officiating. I find that an amazing story.
Matt
I mean, don't give the NBA any ideas. Right? But. But I'm also fascinated that referees are talking and players are giving it back to him. I wish we had that in America. I wish you could have a back and forth exchange when officials make bad calls. Clearly, soccer's gigantic and they're not worried about those officials. Why can't we start doing that here? We need to hear from the rest. We deserve.
Myron
Foster's calling the Lakers game. LeBron says we ain't coming.
Matt
I mean, that's kind of what it is.
Myron
It's an amazing. They ended up showing up and then they lost. So now everybody will go. Well, because of the referee. My told you so. They told you. Here I've got the list of people real quick who've hit them. I'm going to give you the last 10 A. Eugenio Suarez, J.D. martinez, Scooter Gannett, Josh Hamilton, Carlos Delgado, Sean Green, Mike Cameron, Mike Whitten and Bob. It's not exactly a who's who of baseball there. Byron.
Matt
No, those are all Tecmo bowl names.
Myron
Like. Well, that's Scooter and he did it for the Reds.
Matt
Scooter.
Myron
Scooter Gannett.
Matt
You gotta play baseball. Your name is Scooter, right? Scooter's such a baseball day.
Myron
All right, what's next?
James
After winning his record setting 17th world title at WrestleMania on Sunday, John Cena joined the Pat McAfee show on Monday. And. And they were talking about he has a little bit of a bald spot on the back of his head that people had very much noticed in his recent appearances on WWE TV. And he told Pat McAfee that basically fans bullied him into getting a hair transplant because it looks much better now.
Myron
All right, so I was watching the first time. That was like really good. John Cena returned and the bald spot.
Matt
Was quite a bald spot.
Myron
I mean, it was fairly noticeable. And you know, listen, it happened like when you get older, that's what happens. I'm not judging, but I think because he had long hair and we hadn't seen him in so long, it was striking. So people started chanting bald spot to him, which was mean, but it is wrestling. So he somehow has gotten transplants without, like shaving his hair, which I didn't know people could do that. He does look better now, but what do you think about the wrestling fans bullying him into hair surgery?
Matt
Well, I didn't realize his hair was a fraud too. After the way he turned on everybody. I don't have a lot of sympathy for the way this guy just let down people all over the world.
Myron
He'll. Don't do it personally. Right?
Matt
You don't do it. I just don't think you do it. Not at this stage of your career.
Myron
So much. Like you can't seem to begin with.
Matt
But. But you don't do it now. There's been some great writing and wrestling in recent years. I just. I just don't like what Sienna decided to do.
James
Well, do you blame him for turning heel on these fans who bullied him?
Myron
Yeah, they bullied him. Like they made fun of his bald spot. Maybe that's why he.
Matt
Oh, now the fans who made him great are suddenly to blame. Oh, so he's a victim. I got it. It's Cena and Shadura Sanders, right?
Myron
They did chant bald spot at him. It's a little bit mean, don't you think?
James
Listen, listen to what he said about the fans on, on.
Matt
Yeah, none of these people know me, man.
Myron
Oh, yeah. You know, like, we didn't, we didn't.
Matt
Do any of that stuff together. Like, yeah, you got. I mean, for real, you guys were there. That's great. But I'm the one falling down.
Myron
Wow. What do you think about that, Myron? You didn't do anything. He was the one that did it.
Matt
I mean, to erase a legacy in a matter of months. If that's how you want to live your life, you can do it. I want this life after wrestling.
Myron
I just. James. I was kind of disappointed in the main event, though. I mean, who care was Travis Scott?
Matt
Why did Travis Scott come out like.
Myron
You know Travis Scott?
Matt
You know what else the problem is? When he takes his shirt off, he looks like he doesn't belong anywhere where there are athletes. You know what I mean? He's about a buck. Oh, five. It's just not a good look.
Myron
The shoes. The shoes are the only thing Travis Scott needs to focus on. He doesn't need to. And he took forever to walk out there. He is still walking out to the ring right now. It took forever.
James
Where was the rock? Where was Dwayne?
Myron
That's what I like, Dwayne. I don't know where he is. Probably doing the surgery as well. All right, so more of the basketball. Other headlines coming. Ajuhanio Suarez, Myron Metcalf next here on Sunday morning.
Matt
Matt and Myron. The podcast.

All right, so we got a lot of controversy about who's right on the Suarez pronunciation. Some people on the text machine, 772-774-5254 say you're right. You said it was a. Well, first of all, you both said it was Eugenio, which was wrong. And then you said I was wrong. I was a you Haney. Oh, is that what you said?
Matt
Yes. And I say you Haney.
Myron
Oh, I said a who haney. Oh, yeah. People have different views on that Baseball reference. There's Myron's right. But then the Somebody sent me a clip of the Arizona Diamondbacks and Reds announcer. They seem to suggest I'm right. I'm not going to bat for this. What I am going to go to bat for, though, is somebody who writes, Matt Myron is correct. You say a lot of things in Kentucky English and Kentucky Spanish. My wife and I sometimes joke that you need. We need a translator for you. That's not very nice. First of all, a lot of people say I speak the King's English. Okay? So I don't know what they're talking about. Do you think my accent is hard to understand? That was it. Mikey thinks he's funny over there. You just. Mikey, you just stick your best work.
Matt
Well, I mean, I've worked with you for almost a decade, so, I mean, I don't, you know, But I do think when I come up to me.
Myron
And say to me, like, they see me and they go, I thought you were much older.
Matt
I thought you were much older. They come up to me and say, I thought he was black and that guy. Like, I lied to them or something. Like, what do you mean?
Myron
Like, do I sound. Why do people think I sound older? Because they always do say to me, like, I feel like you sound like you're like 75 in a papa. And they see me and then they're shocked that I'm not as old as they think.
Matt
I. I do think that's a Southern thing. Like, again, if you go to the south as somebody who's not from there, it is different. I mean, I think most people that slower kind of dialect, I think that's kind of like, I feel like when I go to the south, slow, no, not enough negative way. When I go to Mississippi with my family, everybody has that sitting on a porch on a Saturday afternoon voice. You know what I mean? Like, everybody has that just, you know.
Myron
It was you all at ESPN that said you thought I sounded like Doofenshmirtz when I get excited.
Matt
I didn't say I didn't I didn't say that, but no, I think I've worked with you. I don't think you have a thick accent. And Kentucky's a lot different than, like, Alabama, Mississippi. Those are two different things.
Myron
This is like a mountain accent. That's different than a Southern accent. I think those are very different. You hear my accent when I say things that end in like, I g H t Because I'll be like, tonight, let's go.
Matt
Well, me too.
Myron
Like, you start like, I odds are where I get to a little bit.
Matt
To you, I say I. I mean, is that the same thing? I don't know.
Myron
You know, it's a little different than tonight.
Matt
Love them.
Myron
That's where your accent shows up playing again. What's the city where the derby is next week? All right. We were talking about the NBA earlier. We were talking about the series that we are interested in, but one of the things we haven't talked about are the top seeds, because the top seeds are just running through the teams. The Thunder already done. Grizzlies already out 4. Oh, Thunder win yesterday. The Cavs are up 3. Oh. And neither series has produced.
Matt
Yeah.
Myron
What do you argue with?
Matt
I'm thinking Boston's the top seat. You're right. I got it in my mind that Boston was the top seed.
Myron
Won't you turn your argumentative self down a little bit and just read what the results of the game are?
Matt
No, I just in my mind, are.
Myron
You with me that actually Justin Rose won the Masters? Myron.
Matt
No, no, no, no. I was at a different top seed. My bad.
Myron
Are a combined seven and. Oh. And yet we've spent exactly zero minutes on this show talking about them. And honestly, Myron, people have spent about zero minutes thinking about them. That's what happened in the regular season. It's what's happened in the postseason. And are we just kind of wasting our words on teams that don't matter? And it will be Thunder in the Cavs in the final.
Matt
It's possible. I'll go a step further. I don't think people want to see that series, and I think that's why they're talking about all the other teams. I think people are going, if you give me OKC Cleveland, that will be a matchup that we haven't had in a long time in the NBA Finals where most casual fans don't really know a lot about those teams. I don't know how you don't know about SGA and maybe Donovan Mitchell, but you think most casual fans can name three, four players on Those rosters. Probably not.
Myron
I mean, how many people, like, let's just say, if I were to go up to the casual fan and say, tell me the second best player on the Thunder, how many people could name Jalen Williams and how many. I mean, nobody would know that there are two Jalen Williams on the.
Matt
Yes. Now that. You would confuse them.
Myron
You would. You would confuse them.
Matt
If you said that no one would know.
Myron
And then, like, if you said to people, what was the trade that made Cleveland a favorite to make the Finals? And people would go, did they get Kyrie? No, it was DeAndre Hunter. The DeAndre Hunter trade halfway through the year. I think you're right. I think the Thunder and the Cavs. If the Thunder and the Cavs play in the finals, it will be the most anonymous to the casual sports fan Finals in the history of basketball. Like, when will there have been a Finals where the average person knows less about the two teams?
Matt
No, they won't. There won't. And listen, I'm a small market guy. I mean, when Milwaukee won the championship, there are a whole lot of people doing the. Oh, where's Milwaukee? I mean, I can't believe they're going to win it. But OKC is like a tier even below Milwaukee in terms of, like, what people know about the city, how many people have visited the city, how many people know what's been.
Myron
You don't go to Oklahoma City less under force of law.
Matt
See, that's. I don't think that's.
Myron
But it's not a destination in all serious city. Why would you go to Oklahoma City?
Matt
Like, why? Well, I mean, you. Good barbecue. Really good barbecue.
Myron
First of all, when you don't have anything else to say about a city, you say, good barbecue. No, that's what I know. No, no, this is true. That's what I've noticed over the years. Years when there's nothing else to say, somebody says, good barbecue. Because there's like 10 different states where you had nothing else to say. You just say, good barbecue.
Matt
Oklahoma City.
Myron
There's. There's no reason to visit Oklahoma City. And then Cleveland. If you say to people, why would you visit Cleveland? Somebody will say, the Rock and Roll hall of Fame. But does anybody really want to go to the Rock and Roll Hall?
Matt
Sure.
Myron
And then the second thing they'll say is the house from A Christmas Story Story, which, when you're getting to a House from A Christmas Story is the second thing you should visit in Cleveland. So I agree with you. Part of it is these are not cities. People would care about.
Matt
Yeah. And I think, you know, they're. They're not sort of teams filled with, well, you don't have a star. And I think SGA clearly is. We don't have a superstar to the casual fan. And you're in a small market. That makes it a hard sell.
Myron
So I think people aren't talking marketed these teams. I think some of this is a failure.
Matt
How do you.
Myron
But how do you. I mean, I think you could market Shea. I mean, Shea is like, first of all, he's got initials that are fun to say sga, Right? That's fun. He's great.
Matt
He's great.
Myron
Played at Kentucky. It's not like he played at some random school. And then the way he plays is exciting. He, you know, he's long, he's athletic. He's kind of herky jerky. He's a smart. He's telegenic handsome guy. Like, I kind of don't understand why SGA has not been marketed more by.
Matt
The NBA because I don't think they know how to sell the Thunder. So, I mean, I don't at the end of the day, you know, I love small markets and I love that Giannis is in Milwaukee and Yokage is in Denver. But the preference is not that. I mean, if the NBA, NBA had its way, those guys would be in the big though.
Myron
Don't seem to be to be to me. Anonymous. Oklahoma City and Cleveland, those two teams feel anonymous. Like, let me just real quick, just look at the playoffs in general. How many teams in the NBA playoffs are more known to the average fan than Oklahoma City? I just go through it. Houston, it's close. Golden State, yes. Lakers, yes. Clippers, yes. Nuggets, yes. Like, those teams are all easy. Minnesota, yes. Then you go to the East. We know more about Milwaukee. We know about Boston. We know more about the Knicks. We know more about the Heat. Heck, we know more about the 76ers. They didn't make the playoffs. We know more about the Grizzlies because of jaw that these are the two best teams in the league and the league has not marketed them at all well.
Matt
I mean, they've had more. They've had a ton of nationally televised games. It's just that more people are watching the Lakers and the Knicks in the Celtics. I mean, that to me is what it ultimately comes down to. And the teams you name, you know, Milwaukee and them are good examples. Their profiles changed after they won championships, which can happen for OKC was known.
Myron
And Jokic was known before that. I'm sort of shocked how little SGA is known. And even Donovan Mitchell, I mean, Donovan Mitchell is going to be first team all NBA. And do you think, how many people, if Donovan Mitchell walked down the street in, you know, Peoria, Illinois, do you think he would even get stopped?
Matt
Well, I mean, a guy who plays in Utah and then Cleveland, it's. It's hard to raise that national profile, right? But again, you make a run in these finals, but you make a run in these finals. But I don't know how much that matters to people. You make a run in these finals and everything changes. I mean, Klay Thompson is no longer a star, right? To the same degree. Well, everybody, he's far more popular.
Myron
How many people do you. Those guys, how many average sports fans? Now, I don't necessarily mean like, well, let's just think listeners to this show, I want everyone listening to the show to just sit down and close your eyes. Unless you're driving. Please don't close your eyes if you're driving, but if you're sitting in your house or somewhere, close your eyes and ask yourself, can I picture in my face or not in my face? In my mind. Can I picture in my mind what Evan Mobley looks like?
Matt
Yeah, no, that's, that's. People don't know.
Myron
They would have no idea. Okay.
Matt
He's great.
Myron
Second best player on Cleveland. All right, now do the same thing. Close your eyes. And can you picture what Jalen Williams looks like? Either of them?
Matt
No, people can't.
Myron
No, they can't. And I think that's a failure for the NBA. The two. The second best player on the two best teams. No one knows what they look like.
Matt
I mean, you know, Jalen was an all star. I mean, one of the jailers before he got hurt. Like, at the end of the day, you market yourself in these small markets by winning. So I think OKC and Cleveland will dramatically change their profiles if they make a run to the championship, which feels very possible for both of those teams. And really for okc, SGA can win mvp, also have the best team in the league when it's all said and done. But again, this is a league where it's LeBron and it's Luca and it's Steph. There are these guys who've been winning for years and years and years. I think the bigger question is, what's the next generation of stars in the NBA? I don't think the league knows.
Myron
All right, I'm not going to put Myron on the spot here because James Mikey, lean into the mics here, would you? All who both work in sports radio, could you close your eyes and picture what Evan Mobley and Jalen Williams look like? Mobley, bald? Is he. No, actually, I don't know. Okay, well, I'm picturing with my eyes closed. That's what I picture. I can answer his face. I don't know.
Matt
Mobley's 23. He ain't.
Myron
He could shave his head.
Matt
Nobody just does that anymore.
Myron
They don't.
Matt
No. Nobody just voluntarily shaves their head at 23.
Myron
James, do you know what they look like?
James
No, I can't. I can not. No, I don't know.
Myron
Yeah, that's what I'm saying. I just, I. The NBA to some extent deserves. They're great at marketing, but they've screwed that up. And I didn't realize 23 year olds won't shave their head. So, like, there's no head shaving anymore?
Matt
It's not like Michael Jordan era? No, people don't do that willingly.
Myron
Well, your hair is shaved.
Matt
My hair's not shaved. I just have short hair.
Myron
Okay.
Matt
I can't grow it out like that.
Myron
You can tell yourself that. Sunday mornings, presented by Progressive Insurance.
Matt
What does that mean?
Myron

Don't you think this Is. It's Sunday morning Matt Myron on ESPN Radio. Isn't this, like, the best state song? This in, like, Georgia, New York, New York. Wouldn't you say? Are those the three best state songs?
Matt
What? Georgia On My Mind.
Myron
New York. Yeah. Georgia. The Ray Charles. Georgia. That one.
Matt
Yeah. Well, he wrote that. Not really liking Georgia, but, yeah, I think it's a. It's a. That's a good one.
Myron
Supposed to be a song that's pro.
Matt
Georgia. Yeah, He.
Myron
He's. Yeah, he's.
Matt
It's essential. It's. It's hard to explain. He wasn't in a good place with Georgia when he actually wrote that.
Myron
Well, now it's their official state song now.
Matt
It is. Yeah. Yeah. New York. New York is great.
Myron
And then New York, the Frank Sinatra. New York, New York. Are those the three best state songs?
Matt
Those are good.
James
Nothing. Pennsylvania Polka.
Myron
The Pennsylvania Polka is not on my playlist. I don't know what that is.
Matt
Does everybody have a state song? I mean, is that.
Myron
I think so. You got. West Virginia is like Country Roads, so that's a big.
Matt
What doesn't Tennessee have on?
Myron
Tennessee's got Rocky Top. Wish that I was on. Although Rocky Top was written by two people from Kentucky, so I don't think they should even get to.
Matt
That's weird.
James
But that's a little Hotel California.
Myron
I don't think that's their state song. You can't just mention songs that have the.
Matt
No, no. Isn't it California Love is that song.
Myron
California Love.
Matt
California Love is that song. It depends on what neighborhood you in.
Myron
All right, so the Derby is Saturday. You know, my belief is the Derby doesn't get nearly enough publicity. So since I'm on national radio, I consider it my job to tell people about the Derby. You, I think, over the years, did not care about the Derby. But then over the years, being with me, you've kind of. You've become a Derby person a little bit, haven't you?
Matt
I've always thought it was exciting, but. Yeah, you know, you talk about it a lot. You know, I've been to the. I've been to the Belmont.
Myron
Well, can I give you a few storylines for this year's Derby? Okay. Yeah. Storyline one, your guy, Bob Baffert, has been banned for three years. Remember, he was. He. He gave the. Or allegedly gave the horse some drugs, and then it won. And then he was banned by the Kentucky Racing Commission for three years. He's back this year for the first time. He has two horses in the Derby for the first time in Three years. He's kind of considered like, the evil empire in Kentucky. Like, some people love him, some people don't, but he's a very controversial figure. He will walk in with his white hair and sunglasses. Are you excited Bob Baffert's back?
Matt
The king is back. Banished to the sidelines for three years. But no, I mean, I think you talk about not getting enough coverage. That's someone that casual fans know, right?
Myron
They do know.
Matt
That's a big figure in the sport.
Myron
All right, Second, see what you think of this. One of the favorites in this thing, one of the favorites is owned by Tick Tock Celebrity, okay? A horse, Sandman, which is the third favorite, is partially owned by a guy named Griffin Johnson. Griffin Johnson is one of the kids. You remember, they put all those TikTok kids and they put them in a house, and it was called, like, the Sway House or something. Like, all these kids, they were always filming dances and all that. Well, one of those kids name was Griffin Johnson, and he is a part owner of Sandman, and he is their official owner, the one they put out front. And he's, like, dressed with, you know, tattoos, and he's got, like, a hot girlfriend, and they just sit and they do TikTok dances. You think that's good for the Kentucky Derby or bad to have Griffin Johnson as an owner?
Matt
I feel like there's a high probability that they get in a fight at some point. Like, I don't. I don't think they're going to be welcome.
Myron
You don't think the old cruddy at the Kentucky Derby is going to like, Tick Tock? Griffin is.
Matt
I don't think that's going to be good, you know, and I don't know what they're bringing into the Derby. You know, you. You have to wind all those guys, check their pockets, because I don't know what they're trying to sneak in there. That's going to be a. Oh, you're.
Myron
You're worried they're gonna try to sneak stuff?
Matt
Oh, I ain't worried. I know there's gonna be three dudes with that camp who just are there to sneak stuff in, you know, that's gonna be a lot, man.
Myron
So that's one. Now, the favorite, I feel like I know the horse you're gonna be for because I feel like you're gonna be for the favorite. The favorite horse's name is Journalism. Is that your kind of horse? Like, old school journalism, hanging up, hanging on to those values?
Matt
No, I don't. I don't I don't know. Like, I gotta hear the backstory. Yeah, I guess, but. But it's also setting up for journalism to be pounced on again if, like, if he loses or if he's over journalism. I mean, that's just gonna set up the mean. You can't put us in a position to get mean like that.
Myron
All right, so I'm gonna read you the names of the horses. Okay? You tell me. If you just give me a grade. A through F on the names, quick on the names.
Matt
Okay?
Myron
Yes. Citizen Bull. You have to go quicker.
Matt
B.
Myron
B. Neoquious.
Matt
I don't know what that is. B.
Myron
B. Final gambit.
Matt
A plus.
Myron
You like that, Rodriguez?
Matt
I'm gonna say A because I don't really want to give it a lower grade.
Myron
American promise. You like? That's like a MAGA horse.
Matt
That's corny. Give me C. See?
Myron
Admire Daytona.
Matt
See, I don't.
Myron
Daytona is not a city to admire. Luxor Cafe.
Matt
Hey, I like that one.
Myron
You can eat there in Vegas. You go to the Luxor Cafe. Journalism.
Matt
That's a C. I mean, wow.
Myron
Your own field is a C. Burnham Square. Burnham Square. B. Grande. Like Ariana.
Matt
Hey, hey, I like that.
Myron
How about this? Flying Mohawk.
Matt
