You don't wake up dreaming of McDonald's fries. You wake up dreaming of McDonald's hash browns. McDonald's breakfast comes first. This is Matt and Myron, the podcast it is. So over here on ESPN Radio, I'm Matt Jones. He's my Metcalf. Presented by Progressive Insurance, Be beautiful day, Daylight savings time. So we moved everything up, and now we're happy to be joined in studio with Quentin Richardson. He's ESPN NBA analyst, played in the NBA for 13 years. More importantly to me, about three or four years ago, Myron, we had this guy, he was doing podcasts and doing his thing named Quentin Richardson on here. And I remember as soon as the interview was over, I was like, that dude's good. We got to get him on espn, get him doing stuff. I was like, he's really good. And now three or four years later, he is here. Quentin, congratulations on your ESPN deal and everything. Like, you deserve it. I knew from the first time you were on this show that you had it and you had it, and it's good to see it happening for you.
Quentin Richardson
I appreciate that. Thank you, guys. Glad to be here hanging with you fellas.
Matt Jones
All right, so I want to start with this every show. I mean, I heard little Charles Barkley, little Kendrick Perkins, little Stephen A. Smith arguing with each other about this. So I'm going to go the opposite way of them. I'm not going to ask you about the Lakers or the warriors to start. I'm going to ask you about Cleveland and Oklahoma City. Cleveland, Oklahoma City are by far the best teams in the east and the west by record. When it gets to the playoffs, do you think those are the two best teams or are they regular season teams and different teams will step up in the playoffs?
Quentin Richardson
Well, I'll start with Cleveland in the east first. I think they obviously clearly have led the east and the league wire to wire with the best record. But I still got my money on the Celtics right now. I feel like they brought their full complement back from last year's championship team, and this was their goal. I don't think their goal was to win the best record in the league or win the Eastern Conference best record. I think they paced themselves and I think they're going into full battle and full playoff mode now, and I think they're gearing up to go defend their title.
Matt Jones
So for idiots like me that see Cleveland being dominant from start to finish and go, well, Quentin, what is it about them that makes you not. I mean, I know Boston won it last year, but Cleveland's Been awesome. Why is it you think when you get to playoffs in a seven game series, you're still taking Boston?
Quentin Richardson
I mean, just being a former player, knowing that the playoffs, it becomes a different game. I mean, you take for instance my 0405 Phoenix Suns team. We ran through the playoffs, I mean through the, through the regular season, literally we sprinted through everybody 62 and 20. Nobody really could see us. But when you get to the playoffs, the games turn different. You're not able to do all of the same things the same way. And teams are able to be ready for you. Because some teams, you catch on a back to back, they not even prepared to game plan against you. They didn't even get a shoot around a game plan for you. But now it's a day, it's a game in between everything, we get the game plan. After everything that happens, after every game, we can change it up. And that's where things become different. And I think obviously Cleveland has built their team to compete with the Celtics and the Celtics are the standard. But I still think that the Celtics are ready to defend their title.
Myron Metcalf
Oh, is it my turn? I thought Matt was gonna ask all the questions. It felt that way.
Matt Jones
Sometimes, sometimes I get interested and you're over there asking for a autographed headband. I can't do everything for you.
Myron Metcalf
Listen, man, let, let me have my moment. I'm so happy to be on the show with Quentin Richardson. As a kid, man, I grew up loving those DePaul teams. Quentin Richardson, Bobby Simmons, Paul McPherson, Lance Williams, all those dudes, man. So, so it's an honor to be on the show with you, man. When you see LeBron at 40 have a groin injury where he says it's nothing, but reports are saying this could be weeks. What does this mean for him in terms of being ready to go in the playoffs and competing against a bunch of 20 somethings over the course of these seven game series.
Quentin Richardson
I mean, I take LeBron's word for it. I mean he, you know, he knows his body. He's more in tune with his body probably than any athlete, you know what I'm saying? That we've seen in history. And if he says it's not that big a deal or it's not that bad as it was the previous one where he missed all of those games, I believe him. And we know the one thing that he's going to go and he's going to do every single thing that's needed to be able to get himself back out there sooner than later. So I Mean, I trust that we've seen his work, we've seen him come back from things and be ready to go. So I definitely think that, you know, LeBron is the, he's the ageless wonder, and he's going to continue to do everything he needs to do to be back with the team as soon as possible.
Matt Jones
You know, Quinton, I'm a Kentucky guy, so I see a lot of these dudes in the league. I saw a lot of them play in college. And the one that has surprised me the most in terms of hitting another level of all the 37 pros that have been at Kentucky is Shea Gilgeous Alexander. When he first got to Kentucky, he didn't even start. He was, he was a backup behind a guy named Quad A Green. And by the end of the year, he was really good. But I still would have never believed he would be an MVP candidate. You watch him all the time. What makes him so good? Why is he able to, like, not be stopped on the floor?
Quentin Richardson
Listen, it's pretty simple. He, he. I listened to him in a post game interview and it's basically he gets his confidence from reps, you know what I'm saying? Like, he, he is one of those gym rats that he constantly works on his game. He constantly, like, you can see it, like his demeanor, it may, some people may think is arrogant, but that's like, he just has that monotone face. But when he goes out there, the moves and the way he plays basketball is that of a person that has done this so many times that I could do this in my sleep. And then the other layer to it is that he does it in such an entertaining way that I can guarantee you almost all of your favorite Hoopers, he's their favorite Hooper.
Matt Jones
Is that right?
Quentin Richardson
Yes, in a Jamal Crawford type of way. The way that everybody admired the way anytime you can move people without touching them, you just got the ball and you handling the ball and you could take somebody to defend you and move them from here to over here. And now you just have a lane. Like, that's special. And that's what he possesses when he's going out there. He's going out there and dissecting defenses. You see it night in, night out with the jab, with the, with the ball handling moves and with the, the. The elusiveness. He creates so much separation between him and the. In the defender that the shots become easy for him.
Myron Metcalf
Quinn, Steph Curry isn't the first late 30s sharpshooter in NBA history. A lot of guys have been Good at this stage of their careers. They haven't been this though, like, at some point you expect a guy to slow down, lose a step, take to become kind of a guy taking threes in the corner. And yet here's Steph still coming off these screens, hitting the same shots he was a decade ago. How on earth does he do it as he's getting older that he's still getting the same looks that he got 10 years ago?
Quentin Richardson
I think you gotta give, you gotta tip your hat and give him a salute because he's one of the, he doesn't get talked about that much, but he's one of the most conditioned athletes in the league. He never stops moving every, like you said, coming off screen, he's running, he's stopping and going this way. He's trying to trick you and fake that way and come this way. So his level of conditioning is top tier because he's constantly running around. And then even when he gets the ball, he's coming off screens, he'll dribble through, go through the lane, come back out. He's constantly in motion. And that requires you to be in a top level shape you can be in as far as your conditioning. And so I think you couple that with the fact that I like the quote that Kyrie said, this generation, along with obviously LeBron leading the way. But this generation of players, they're starting to kind of rewrite what a prime is and how long you're supposed to be in the prime and how long you can play with the way that these guys are playing, like you say, deep into their late 30s, and LeBron in his 40s and still being all Stars and being top level players in the league, they're changing that narrative right now.
Matt Jones
Talking to Quentin Richardson, ESPN analyst, I'm going to tell you, a guy who's not in top level shape, and I'd be surprised, will be playing in his late 30s or early 40s, but still is pretty amazing. Is Jokic there in Denver? I, you know, I didn't watch the game, but when I woke up and saw somebody had a 30, 20 and 20 game, I thought something had to be wrong. I was like, that's right. Somebody had a 30. I mean, I look at that guy and he looks like the kind of dude that hangs out at the horse tracks with me when I go to Keeneland or in these, actually, not even that. Harness racing tracks. And then he goes out there and he does what he does. Just. Do you find him as mesmerizing as I do? Just As a player, I mean, being a Hooper, like you said.
Quentin Richardson
Absolutely, absolutely. Because he does not only not pass the eye test, he fails it. He fails the eye test. He just looking at him. Like, I'm saying, like, when you look at and you think about the level that his game actually is at, he doesn't look like he's about to go out there and he can do what he can do. Like, even when he's doing it, you find yourself like, what is happening, like, the awkward looking shots and some of the things that he could do. And now we've come to know that that wasn't a fluke, that wasn't a mistake. He meant to do that. So, like, yes, it looks awkward and it looks different, but he is skilled. Like, unbelievably skilled. And like, the thing that's crazy about him is he gives you the. He reminds you of the Zach Randolph style. Who couldn't? He has no hops, no levitation, can't jump over a phone book. But here he is giving you the craziest work of your life and you don't even understand what's happening to you. That's how he's doing. He's leaving people with their minds boggled because he's so tough to stop. And the physicality of him, that's what doesn't get talked about. He's so big and so forceful that it's tough to deal with him down there in that paint area when he decides to go down there.
Myron Metcalf
Who's winning it all? Real quick? Quentin, who wins it all? Who's your champion?
Quentin Richardson
I have Boston repeating.
Matt Jones
Boston repeating. All right, Shaq, Kenny, Charles Kendrick, Stephen A. You need to watch Q tips coming. That's all I'm saying. That's all I'm saying. You remember. You just remember. You heard it right here. Oh, I thought. Did they not call you Q Tip? Q Rich. Sorry, my bad.
Myron Metcalf
Quest. Let me. That's right.
Matt Jones
Well, see, that's the thing. I like, I like, I like, cried so much, I got it wrong. No.
Myron Metcalf
So you tried to be too cool and you called him. I did.
Quentin Richardson
I was trying to give a compliment.
Matt Jones
Shut up. Go get your headband signed. Go get your headband signed. Quentin. Quentin Richardson, NBA analyst. I was still giving you a compliment. Thank you very much.
Quentin Richardson
I appreciate. Y'all appreciate.
Matt Jones
I'm calling him Q Tip. That's what I'm doing.
Myron Metcalf
No, no, you.
Matt Jones
Sunday morning here on ESPN Radio, Matt.
Myron Metcalf
And Myron, the podcast foreign.
Matt Jones

Myron Metcalf
Yes, yes.
Matt Jones
There you go. See, you don't think I know Tribe Called Quest just because I called Quinn Richardson Q tip. What are you gonna do when that sticks? And that's his nickname. What are you gonna do then?
Myron Metcalf
And it's not gonna stick because he played at a very high level for a long time and he was called Quentin Richardson Q Rich never Q Tip. So it may stick for you, but I don't think it'll stick with anybody else you got.
Matt Jones
Myron got preemptively embarrassed. I could tell Myron was like, don't associate me with this guy.
Myron Metcalf
Listen, man, when I bring you around, black folks, don't embarrass me, okay?
Matt Jones
That's all.
Myron Metcalf
Like we talked in the car, okay? Don't say something that's gonna embarrass me.
Matt Jones
All right, man, we talked in the car. 888, say ESPN the text machine. You can write a text to the show at 772-774-5254. Next week on this show. Myron and I will actually not be on here. I don't know who they're gonna have. I'm sure there'll be two fine men or women. But Myron, I will be hosting the selection show, the NCAA bracket selection show from 5 to 8 o'clock. Should be a lot of fun. We'll have a bunch of coaches on. We're going to have this head of the selection committee and I will reveal the brackets with Myron. It's always one of my favorite times of the year. And Myron and I will be in the same place too. We'll both be up in Bristol doing our thing. Are you looking forward to that?
Myron Metcalf
It's going to be fun, man. I mean, that's always such a relief for me because I dropped my 12, 13,000 word file on the tournament and then I can breathe for the first time in a week. So.
Matt Jones
So it should be a lot of fun. And by the way, you could tune in to NBA action today. Thunder hosts the Nuggets, presented by. Indeed. Coverage begins at 12:30 right here on ESPN radio in the ESPN app. All right, this is where we get some headlines and some of the other secondary stories in sports that you may not have heard that we can give our expertise on. James, what's up first? Yeah, I got a couple here. Former NFL cornerback Adam Pacman Jones previously.
Myron Metcalf
Has been an outspoken advocate of cannabis.
Matt Jones
And even revealed last year that he smoked before playing in NFL games. Now, in an interview that aired Tuesday, Pacman came clean about how he concealed his marijuana use to avoid getting in trouble under the NFL substance abuse policy. He said he never used his own urine in league drug tests. I cheated the program, jones said on Deion Sanders Weekly Show.
Myron Metcalf
We got time today on Tubi. Like I was really good. People don't know how smart I am.
Matt Jones
But like, I can say it now.
Myron Metcalf
I don't play no more. But like, I've never used my urine.
Matt Jones
For a urine test. Not one time.
Myron Metcalf
Not one time.
Matt Jones
Well, okay, so a few things. There's a lot you said right there. Let's start with this. I didn't know D. I didn't know Deion Sanders had a show on Tubi. First of all, I didn't know anyone had a show on Tubi. Tubi. Tubi has shows. So I didn't know. And what's it called again? Deion Sanders Show. We have we got time today is what it's called. Yeah, well, they got time because ain't nothing else on to be. So they ended up airing that on to be Pac Man Jones. There's a name I haven't thought of in a long time, but Myron, he is not the first, he's not the only, and he won't be the last to cheat on the urine test with marijuana. Need to make marijuana legal with the testing because you got there. Ton of people are doing it. But I do like that he admitted it. I like how he said he didn't use his own urine. Myron. One time. Not one time.
Myron Metcalf
So he had a urine guy. I mean, that's my thing is, like, did he do it on call?
Matt Jones
They all have, like, others. You don't. You didn't have a urine guy. You don't know what that's like. They have these things, Byron. They have these things. You strap them to the inside of your leg and it's got other people's urine.
Myron Metcalf
Why do you want to know this?
Matt Jones
Because I know people who do things. Okay. You get. You, like, you strap it on to your leg.
Myron Metcalf
Wait a minute. Are you Pac Man Jones is urine? No, I.
Matt Jones
Listen, I know I've known people over the years who, for various misdeeds, have had to take urine tests, and I know what they do. There's a thing, you can buy it on the Internet, and it's like a. It's like a thing on your leg, and then when it comes time when the person's watching you, they just hit the little thing on their leg and there you go.
Myron Metcalf
Well, in college, when I took. When I got randomly drug tested, like, you're standing there, and there's like a million of these people who are in charge with, like, watching you every step of the way, man. So it's fascinating to me that someone can cheat the system, but you can.
Matt Jones
Put it on the inside of your leg. Like, there was an Entourage episode about this. It's like you strap it on your inner thigh, and then you just hit. You get somebody to feel it, and you just hit a button and there it goes. It's like, oh, I can't believe you don't know this, Myron. You don't hang out in the circles of people who know what's going on behind the scenes.
Myron Metcalf
You can't believe I don't know about the fake urine culture that apparently you're like, this is.
Matt Jones
But this is a very prominent thing. People do it in all walks of life. So.
Myron Metcalf
So when I took. When I got randomly drug tested, I don't know how it is today, when I was playing college football.
Matt Jones
Think about if you put it on your Instagram.
Myron Metcalf
But they're watching you, though.
Matt Jones
Yeah, but they're not on the inside of your leg. They're not going to get under you to take that view of it.
Myron Metcalf
But they are right there on you.
Matt Jones
That's why you put it on the inside of your leg. I'm telling you, I'm not going to show you because I don't want to know you that way. But I'm telling you, there's a way that. There's a way you can do it. We're hearing that it's called a wizinator, a wizard.
Myron Metcalf
Okay, so I know about the. There was one in Minnesota, Ontario. Smith was the guy played for the Vikings. Who got caught with that. I just. Yeah, I don't know.
Matt Jones
Can't get caught. The wizard. So Adam Pacman Jones was a Wizardinator. And learn more on Dion show on Movie. We still got more time to talk. All right, who's. What's next? Yeah, we got time. Today is what. There's still a movie. There's a movie as well. Is there a movie, too? Yeah, there's a movie. There's a movie and a tubi.
Myron Metcalf
Is the.
Matt Jones
To be for television and the movie. No movie. Yeah, kind of. To be is tv. Movie is movies. So you know that movie, the substance that got nominated for the Oscar? Yeah, it was on Mubi. So you can get a tubi and a movie. All right, what's next? All right, that's confusing. While PGA Tour commissioner Jay Monahan, Tiger woods and others have expressed optimism about.
Myron Metcalf
Getting a deal done with Saudi Arabia's.
Matt Jones
Public investment fund to reunify men's professional golf, Rory McElroy doesn't sound so convinced. During a news conference on Wednesday ahead of this week's Arnold Palmer Invitational In Orlando, Florida, McElroy said he didn't think the PGHR was any closer to reaching an agreement after recent meetings with President Trump and PIF governor at the White House. Quote, I don't think it's ever felt that close, but I don't. It doesn't feel like it's any closer, McElroy said. Yeah, well, I mean, I would have thought when they went to the White House with Trump, you'd have thought that would have worked out. Seems to work out when other people do. But it did not. And so now Liv and the PGA Tour are farther apart than they ever were, according to Michael Roy. It's a shame, but I got to tell you, Myron, now the people that need it the most are live. Here's a story to watch their Biggest guy, guys, Brooks Koepka and Bryson DeChambeau. Their contracts are up at the end of this year, and both guys have expressed an interest in coming back to the tour. And if LIV doesn't make a move in the next few months, you lose those guys. An already irrelevant thing will be even more relevant. I think the PGA Tour for the first time now has the leverage on this. And I could see them waiting live out and saying, hey, burn yourself up. It looks like it might be over.
Myron Metcalf
Well, I mean, let's be honest. I mean, this was a money grab for those guys who left. They've been out of the spotlight because they haven't been on the Tour, but they'll come back because they're going to play on tv. And you want people to see you play, which you were playing on a live tour. No one is watching you. So I think that is so irrelevant.
Matt Jones
The golf is so irrelevant to the grand scheme of things. And the problem is, outside of Bryson and Brooks, Myron, nobody cares about those guys. Like, no one cares who's on the live tour. I mean, John Rom went there and I forget he exists. Really. He was the best golfer in the world. Myron, do you even, like, ever think his about his name ever?
Myron Metcalf
No, no. But, but I mean, the money that those guys got, you know, that's what that was about. It was, it was a big money grab. But I agree it's better for the sport if they're all playing under one umbrella. I hope everybody comes back to the Tour.
Matt Jones
It is. But I think what just from a negotiation standpoint, what's happened is the PGA Tour gets more and more leverage every day because Liv is more and more irrelevant and these contracts are coming up and ultimately these dudes are going to want to be back on the tour. Bryson DeChambeau is now loved because of YouTube. So things have changed quite a bit. Thank you very much for those headlines. And Myron, I'm glad you now know about Wizarding. It's something that I feel like you should have known for when, you know, when ESPN does their random tests coming at some point, you need to be. You need to be ready for that, right?
Myron Metcalf
What do you suggest?
Matt Jones
I'm not insinuating anything. I'm just saying, you know, how do you think Dan Patrick did so well here? What's going on in Cleveland?

Geno knows his lane. He knows that he's not the end all, be all, not necessarily that awful of a move for the Raiders and for the Seahawks. Now what are you going to do? Yeah, tell Matt Elvis Sunday morning is presented by Progressive Insurance. And now we're going to do a progressive ad brought to you by Progressive Insurance. Driver drivers who switch to progressive could say big with progressive. They have a progressive ad at Progressive. See if you can do more at 1-800-progressive or progressive.com There you go. It is a lot of progressive. All right. Geno Smith is progressing on from Seattle to the Raiders. He signed this week and you know is going to join his former coach Pete Carroll there. And now that leaves the sort of quarterback carousel to go somewhere else. There's some talk that Sam Darnold will end up replacing him in Seattle. The Vikings didn't have an opening, which I don't understand why they're potentially looking at Aaron Rodgers, but they are. Then you got the Giants need a quarterback, the Browns need a quarterback. How do you think this is going to all in? And when all is said and done, who, who will get the best situation out of that?
Myron Metcalf
I mean best situations I think probably Sam Donald to Seattle. It looks like that's where he's headed. They'll probably overpay him, but he's probably the one on a playoff team. Gino to the Raiders. That's still a team struggling to get into the playoffs. Aaron Rodgers. You can't bring him to Minnesota. He's more likely to end up with a team like the Giants. That's irrelevant. So it's just, it's not a great coaching. It's not a great quarterback course carousel, which is why some of these guys are about to get a bunch of money.
Matt Jones
Well, what's interesting, okay, so I get the Geno Smith to the Raiders. I understand why the Raiders would do that. I understand why Geno would do it. I think Seattle getting Sam Darnold, they're going to get him cheaper than he would have if he hadn't played in those last two games of the year that didn't go well. So I think that's probably good. The Vikings though, to me don't make any sense. And that's your team up there, Myron. So I don't understand. They granted they collapsed in the last two games, but they had a great year. Conceivably they should be going for it again. Why would Aaron Rodgers even be something you would think. Think about doing in that scenario? Like. Like you have a team. The one thing we know about Aaron Rodgers is he can sabotage your team in the last few years. Why would you even try to talk yourself into that right now?
Myron Metcalf
Well, I think it's a couple of things. One, they don't want to spend a lot on a quarterback. They got J.J. mcCarthy they drafted last year, coming off a season, any knee injury. But by all accounts, he's ready to go. He'll be in all these minicamps, right? So maybe they see him as kind of a mentor to a guy like that.
Matt Jones
What has Aaron Rodgers ever done to make people think he'd be a good mentor?
Myron Metcalf
I'm just telling you that I could see them saying being under Aaron Rodgers, the next Aaron Rodgers could be helpful. I think the other thing is that the Vikings have decided that Kevin O'Connell so good they don't have to spend $60 million on a quarterback. And the problem with that, Matt, is do you think they're going to a Super bowl with a 40 million, $35 million quarterback? It's just not going to happen. So.
Matt Jones
But do you think he is that good that he can do that?
Myron Metcalf
He's great.
Matt Jones
You think he's.
Myron Metcalf
That he's great, but he's not good enough to get Sam Darnold into the Super Bowl.
Matt Jones
Good.
Myron Metcalf
Like you need an elite quarterback. So I think it's a mistake to not spin at that position if you're a Vikings team that it looks like has a window.
Matt Jones
I think the sentence you. Which I know it. What you weren't saying was your opinion. You're saying their thoughts. But the idea that Aaron Rodgers could be a good mentor for any person is one of the More ridiculous things that I've ever heard in my life. I mean, Aaron Rodgers has shown to be the most selfish player in sports. Who's more selfish than Aaron Rodgers, honestly, in his behavior in the last few years? Anyone. Is there anyone more selfish?
Myron Metcalf
Not that I can think of.
Matt Jones
I can't think of that is any. He. He. And so the idea you could do that is crazy. Now the Giants apparently are also considering it. Jason McCourty, ESPN NFL analyst, says he thinks the Giants would be the best spot for Rogers.
Myron Metcalf
I think the New York Giants, I think this is a team that you're.
Matt Jones
Going to be desperate.
Myron Metcalf
So Joe, Shane and Brian D. Have.
Matt Jones
To win next year and they have to win when the season starts.
Myron Metcalf
It's not like you can get going.
Matt Jones
And make a run later on in the season. So I look at for them, even.
Myron Metcalf
If you try to draft a quarterback.
Matt Jones
You need to have a guy that you feel like can help you win right now.
Myron Metcalf
And for Aaron Rodgers, I don't know.
Matt Jones
That there's a better destination that's going to be out there.
Myron Metcalf
I don't know that there's going to.
Matt Jones
Be a team other than the Giants.
Myron Metcalf
That says, you know what, we want to bring Rogers in. So I think it just makes sense.
Matt Jones
For both sides if Rogers wants to continue to play. All right, so I. I'm going to. I'm not objective when it comes to Aaron Rodgers. I think he's the worst. But I want someone to make the case for me. Actually, if one of the callers wants to do it, 888 say ESPN, I'm gonna have Myron do it. But somebody that's a Giants fan that's excited about Aaron Rodgers. When we were just talking about SIUE, I had seven different people call with SIUE facts. If you're a Giants fan excited about Aaron Rodgers, 888 say ESPN. I'll put you right on to make the case. Myron, let's get you to make the case. Until we get one. What is the case for the Giants Wanting Aaron Rodgers would give it to me the best you got it.
Myron Metcalf
Two terrible people belong together. Sometimes that's the best relationships. I think the Giants Hard knocks last season really hurt them. They were publicly talking about Saquon Barkley and fine, if you don't want him, but the way they talked about him, I think a lot of people thought that was over the top. Fine, if you don't want Daniel Jones, I get it. But that's still your quarterback. And to openly talk about how much you want to Replace him. I just think that rubbed a lot of players the wrong way, man. And now you're in a situation where the Giants organization looks like a toxic organization that people don't want to be a part of. So you tell me something.
Matt Jones
That's still not the case for him. So let's just say, let me just act like your name is not Meyer Metcalf. Your name is. Is Joe Shane, and you're coming into the Maras, and. And I'm your owner, and I'm already mad at you that you got rid of Saquon Barkley. Right. And so you're kind of on my hot seat. Meyer Metcalf, I need you to come in and sell to me why you're getting Aaron Rodgers in a way that's going to make me say, okay, I believe in it.
Myron Metcalf
Go ahead. I don't know. I mean, I don't have one. I mean, to me, here's the idea again. If you're getting a young quarterback, if you're, if you're going to find a way to get a young quarterback in this draft, maybe that's a Cam Ward or someone like that, or Shador Sanders, maybe you see Aaron Rodgers as someone who can kind of walk them through those early stages of the NFL.
Matt Jones
And maybe Shane, you're not even going to try. Mr. Shane, you're not even going to try to sell to me this pick. You're going to come here and say, I don't even have one as a reason.
Myron Metcalf
I mean, it's. Again, if they pick, here's where it makes sense. Like, here's. Here's legitimately where it makes sense. If they go out and get a young quarterback. Right. If that's what they ultimately decide.
Matt Jones
Let's say they get Shadur. Do you want to put Dion and Aaron Rodgers as a good duo to work together?
Myron Metcalf
Well, listen. Well, Dion. I don't think Dion's gonna have the impact that people think. But let's say they end up with Shadora, ken Ward at 3. I can understand saying those guys aren't ready. Right. They're going to need some time. You start Aaron Rodgers, as those two guys build behind them, you're not in any position to be competitive as a franchise. That's not going to change this year. So I think they're saying, what can help us if we get Ken Mortar, Shador Sanders, prepare those guys for the future ahead. So I think that is the sale for Aaron Rodgers. The problem is nobody's want to. Going to want to be in that group chat with him, like, right. Like, I just. I think I can see Shadora Sanders really tuning out an Aaron Rodgers right from day one, for sure. I don't know, man. Yeah.
Matt Jones
All right, so did we get James? Anyone? 888 say it's been any Giants fan calling in saying they want Aaron Rodgers? Did we find one? There's a couple calling in now. Well, you know what that means, Myron? That means they were calling in. They didn't answer earlier.
Myron Metcalf
That's what that.
Matt Jones
No, I love you guys, but I know what that means. They didn't just start to call in three minutes later. That's okay. Let's just put one through. I want to hear a case for Aaron Rodgers to the Giants. Just somebody. Go ahead.
Myron Metcalf
Is there someone on?
Matt Jones
Are we here?
Myron Metcalf
Hold on.
Matt Jones
He's got a screen. I'm here. Okay, well, we have to screen them for, like, just put them on. They can be lunatics. It's all right, Mikey. You know, I can talk to anybody. I have to talk. I have to talk to Myron all the time. We can totally do this.
Myron Metcalf
But, I mean, I do think the Hard Knocks thing was a bad idea. I do wonder, Matt, even if teams. Because they have to do Hard Knocks, right. At some point. And remember they went to North Carolina apparently this year because I think they were having a hard time finding NFL teams.
Matt Jones
Yeah. But now they're not doing even more and more edited. Probably not. There will probably be people who don't want to do it. I think that's a shame. But I would totally understand because you're right, it did put a knock on the Giants to look like they did. Even though they were having the same conversation that all teams have about their players, theirs got out all right. Billy's in New York. Billy is a Giants fan. He's going to make the case. Give me the best case you have for why you should want Aaron Rodgers. Hey, guys, thank you for having me on. No, I just think a lot of the criticism is. Is not justified with him. I think that I heard someone say that he's not a great mentor. But I think if you ask Zach Wilson or if you ask Jordan Love, I think they both respect Aaron Rodgers. I think they would say that he was a great mentor to them. Well, Jordan Love didn't say that. I mean, Jordan Love didn't say it for a long time now. He might say it now to be nice, but there were plenty of reports that he basically froze Joe Jordan Love out, at least for the first year. And, you know, if you ask his players, all the guys that he's played with over time, they all, they all really like Aaron Rodgers. When they, when the just decided not to keep him. The first person to go on Twitter was Quinn and Williams with a thumbs down. So that I think that just, I think you really have a good player. Do you think he's good, though? I mean, do you think he's good? Like, this is your team. Do you want him quarterbacking it? I think for the right price, I think he's good. Okay. All right, well, there's one case. I appreciate it.
Myron Metcalf
Well, I actually think that part is something I should have mentioned. He'll be cheap, so I think that's another element. He's not going to cost a lot of money at this stage in his career.
Matt Jones
You're not giving him Steve in la. Steve in la. Why would he be good for your Giants? Yeah, I want to say I've been a Giants fan my entire life. I'm 64 years old and I believe Aaron Rodgers a great fit for the Giants. He had that ankle injury and it's been long enough now that he's coming back the second half of last season, he was actually quite good statistically and he is a Hall of Fame quarterback who's now back from his injury and what the Giants have always had as a pocket passer, the Giants, I mean, Daniel Jones had a little mobility, but basically where, you know, Dable did a great job even though it wasn't with a pocket passer with Buffalo. But he's a great, you know, so you have no, I mean, no offense, you have no evidence of this. You're saying day ball did they balls had two quarterbacks, Josh Allen and Daniel Jones, neither of which were pocket passers. And now you're telling me that Aaron Rodgers is great, but he hasn't really been good in three and a half years. So why injury? So what you're, what you're saying is kind of false because he had an injury and he's quarterback needs a couple years to come back fully from that kind of injury. And you know that.
Myron Metcalf
Yeah, it's just, it's just hard for a guy in his early 40s. You know how it sounds, Matt? It sounds like the college that doesn't want to spend a ton of money on his coaching search, so they go and get the guy at the mid major like 25 miles away. You know what I mean? Like, Aaron Rodgers is in New York. You know what I mean? Like, it's like, all right, hey, we.
Matt Jones
Don'T have to pay for gas.
Myron Metcalf
Let's see.
Matt Jones
You know what I mean?
Myron Metcalf
No big moving expenses. Like, yeah, let's go see what he could do.
Matt Jones
You know, I mean, look, maybe, maybe it'll work. Maybe it'll work. But you know, leave all of his nonsense aside off the field, on the field. He's not been a great player in three and a half years.
Myron Metcalf
Yeah.
Matt Jones
He just hasn't. He is not. He had one good game last game of the year when both teams weren't trying. And that's it. That's it. And so I just don't see why it would be worth it. We're going to take more of your calls on Aaron Rodgers. Plus, I kind of think Draymond Green, well, I mean, I've always kind of thought he was a jerk, but I thought he was especially a jerk this weekend and he really should be called out for on it. That's next here on Sunday morning.
Myron Metcalf

We got folks on trying to make the case for Aaron Rodgers. Mine, I think I respect you more because you wouldn't make the case because you just know it's impossible. Right? Yeah.
Myron Metcalf
I don't know what I'm supposed to say on that. Yeah, I really get it. And you, I just don't know how he relates to.
Matt Jones
Didn't you used to really like Aaron Rodgers like you used to.
Myron Metcalf
I've always thought he's one of the best quarterbacks of all time.
Matt Jones
I do still think, I think you at one point when we were doing this show you would call him like the best quarterback of all time or something, didn't you? At one point.
Myron Metcalf
I mean, there are a lot of numbers that support that. I mean, in terms of, like, accuracy, your touchdown interception ratio. I mean, he had a lot of that stuff, so I think that stuff is still valid in the prime of his career. I didn't expect he would become this, though. And I don't know how you put him in a locker room with guys under the age of 30 who legitimately, Matt, don't care about politics and all these other things that he cares about. How do you relate to those guys? That'd be my question.
Matt Jones
As I've always said, my. He and I have different, like, political beliefs. But that's not why I dislike him. I really dislike, though, on all levels of the political spectrum, people who are idiots, who think they're smart about things, you know, they read one book and they act like they've read every book. Those people drive me crazy. And Aaron Rodgers is really the epitome of that. But on the field, I still don't understand why you want him. But we got some people on here in a minute. Khalil, Nick, Frank, Jim, I'll get to you and you can tell me why I'm wrong, but let's just for a second, I want to talk about Draymond Green. Draymond Green, if you didn't hear, he essentially made a comment on a podcast, which then got picked up, I think, by Chris Broussard, that said that he thought that Carl Towns he heard skip the game against a Golden State because he was scared of Jimmy Butler. And then, of course, he did that Draymond laugh, like, ha, ha, I made a jerky comment. Aren't I amazing? Then it comes out that one of Carl Town's best family friends had passed away and he missed the game for the funeral. Now, I'm sure Draymond didn't know that, but that obviously makes it look different. He was then when that information came out. He was then asked at the press conference after, now that that information was out, what did he think? And here's what he said.
Myron Metcalf
Some would say he didn't play because Jimmy was in the building.
Matt Jones
I don't know. That's not what I want. Let's cut that off. That's not what I want. I want the. I want the clip of him apologizing or something else like that. Do we have that one? All right, we'll pull that. Not apology apology, the non apology. But basically what he did was say, well, you know, that's really sad. You know, anytime you lose a family member that said okay, here we go. Let's play it right. You see the reaction today to your comments about Cat? No. Are you aware that what the circumstances were. No, no.
Quentin Richardson
What's the circumstance?
Matt Jones
Apparently he said he was at a funeral for a family friend. Oh, man, that's unfortunate.
Quentin Richardson
I'm sorry to hear that.
Matt Jones
That sucks.
Myron Metcalf
But my comments that I made was.
Matt Jones
What I heard was this. That's what I heard.
Myron Metcalf
So I do, you know, send my.
Matt Jones
Well wishes to him and his family. You know, none of us. It's inevitable. We all experience death in one way.
Myron Metcalf
Or another, and we'll all experience in.
Matt Jones
The same way one day. So it's unfortunate.
Myron Metcalf
You never wish that on anybody. But the Draymond Green show with Baron Davis must go on.
Matt Jones
Okay, so let's stop right there. I. I'm not sure I've ever heard a more jerk response to a death to say, well, I just said what I heard as if that excused it. And then to end it with the Draymond show with Baron Davis must go on. Myron. I thought that was. Of all the Draymond actions and he's had a lot of bad ones. I thought that was maybe one of the most egregious.
Myron Metcalf
It was cold. Yeah, it was very cold hearted. And I hated to see it and I hated that he just didn't do what we all have to learn to do and just apologize. Like, you know, people talk about the state of men in this country. There's a whole lot of dudes in their 30s, 40s, 50s, all backgrounds, all races, who just don't know how to feel anything, man, who, like, are afraid to say, you know what, My bad, I messed up. Because that's all that needed to happen here. Once Draymond learned that he was completely off about what was actually going on in Carl Anthony Townsends like Carl Anthony Towns, who, by the way, has been through more tragedy than most people have endured over the last five years. Instead of being like, man, I got it so wrong and I owe him an apology, he instead decides that he's just going to promote his show and not offer real empathy, man. And I'm telling you, Matt, I ain't trying to be nobody's life coach. There's going to be a whole bunch of bitter dudes in their 40s, 50s, and 60s from this generation because they haven't learned how to do that.
Matt Jones
I just thought it was awful. Okay, let's say that I had been Draymond Green and I had made a comment like that, I wouldn't have made a Comment like that. But, you know, I don't think the initial comment I heard, maybe he's kidding. The moment you find out there's a death, what's the first thing you would say? You know what? I didn't know that. I'm very sorry. Not only to hear that I'm sorry I said that. I just said this and, you know, turns out I was wrong. I apologize to Cat. That was wrong of me. And I wish you and your family the best. Like, just say that story's over at that point. Right. Stories over. But if you can't say that, if you are such a bro that you can't say that, I tell you what you don't do. The Draymond show must go on. Like, I mean, that is egregiously a jerk move. And I genuinely think that dude had a real future on television. Myron, I might be wrong. I think that hurt it. I really do. I think that. I think people will remember that comment because that's the kind of comment that gets your network, like, sued or something. And it will keep people from wanting you to be on the air.
Myron Metcalf
Yeah, it hurts his future. It also hurts his how he's remembered, man. Like, fine, you got four rings. But like, if people think of your name and think jerk, think a guy who lacks empathy. Think a dude who's just cold hearted. That'll follow you way beyond basketball. And I don't know if Draymond thinks about that.
Matt Jones
I'll tell you what, Charles Barkley does stuff, but Charles Barkley has a big heart. If you're Charles Barkley without a heart, then people don't like you. Draymond Green thinks he's Charles Barkley, but Charles Barkley is likable, has a heart, and has empathy. If you're Charles without that, then you're just a jerk that I have no use for whatsoever. We'll be back on Sunday Morning.
Myron Metcalf

Hosts: Matt Jones and Myron Medcalf
Guest: Quentin Richardson, ESPN NBA Analyst and former NBA player
The episode kicks off with hosts Matt Jones and Myron Medcalf warmly welcoming Quentin Richardson to the studio. Matt reminisces about Quentin's early podcast days, highlighting his growth and recent ESPN deal.
Matt Jones [00:03]: "Quentin, congratulations on your ESPN deal and everything. Like, you deserve it."
Quentin Richardson [01:07]: "I appreciate that. Thank you, guys. Glad to be here hanging with you fellas."
Matt poses a thought-provoking question about the current NBA standings, suggesting that Cleveland and Oklahoma City may be the top contenders in their respective conferences. Contrary to popular opinions from pundits like Charles Barkley and Stephen A. Smith, Quentin leans towards the Boston Celtics as the Eastern powerhouse poised to defend their title.
Matt Jones [01:10]: "...Cleveland, Oklahoma City are by far the best teams in the east and the west by record..."
Quentin Richardson [02:26]: "I still got my money on the Celtics right now. I feel like they brought their full complement back from last year's championship team."
Quentin emphasizes the unpredictability of the playoffs, drawing parallels with his playing days where regular-season dominance didn't always translate to postseason success.
Quentin Richardson [02:26]: "The playoffs, it becomes a different game. Teams are able to be ready for you."
The conversation shifts to LeBron James' reported groin injury, sparking concerns about his readiness for the playoffs. Quentin expresses confidence in LeBron's resilience and ability to bounce back swiftly.
Myron Metcalf [03:21]: "...LeBron at 40 have a groin injury..."
Quentin Richardson [04:02]: "I trust that we've seen his work, we've seen him come back from things and be ready to go."
Matt praises Giannis Antetokounmpo's meteoric rise from a backup to an MVP candidate, attributing his success to relentless practice and innate confidence.
Matt Jones [04:40]: "...What makes him so good? Why is he able to, like, not be stopped on the floor?"
Quentin Richardson [05:16]: "He gets his confidence from reps... he just has that monotone face."
The discussion then transitions to Steph Curry's enduring prowess as a sharpshooter in his late 30s. Quentin commends Curry's exceptional conditioning and continuous movement on the court as key factors behind his sustained performance.
Myron Metcalf [06:00]: "Steph Curry isn't the first late 30s sharpshooter in NBA history..."
Quentin Richardson [07:04]: "He's one of the most conditioned athletes in the league."
Nikola Jokic also receives accolades for his unconventional yet effective playing style, with Quentin marveling at Jokic's ability to execute complex plays effortlessly.
Quentin Richardson [09:00]: "He fails the eye test. He just looking at him... he is skilled. Unbelievably skilled."
The hosts delve into current NFL headlines, starting with former NFL cornerback Adam "Pacman" Jones admitting to cheating drug tests by not using his own urine.
Matt Jones [15:01]: "Adam Pacman Jones... he never used his own urine in league drug tests."
Myron Metcalf [16:31]: "He had a urine guy..."
The conversation then shifts to the quarterback carousel, focusing on Geno Smith's move to the Raiders and the potential landing spots for Aaron Rodgers. Matt expresses skepticism about Rodgers joining the Minnesota Vikings, criticizing Rodgers' recent performance and perceived selfishness.
Matt Jones [24:30]: "Aaron Rodgers has shown to be the most selfish player in sports."
Myron Metcalf [27:55]: "He's great, but he's not good enough to get Sam Darnold into the Super Bowl."
Despite the hosts' disagreements, a brief discussion ensues on the Giants considering Aaron Rodgers as a potential addition, with Myron attempting to present a case for the move.
Myron Metcalf [30:08]: "The Giants organization looks like a toxic organization that people don't want to be a part of."
Matt and Myron analyze the ongoing negotiations between the PGA Tour and LIV Golf. They discuss Rory McIlroy's skepticism about reaching an agreement, the potential loss of star players like Brooks Koepka and Bryson DeChambeau, and the shifting leverage dynamics favoring the PGA Tour.
Matt Jones [19:21]: "The PGA Tour gets more and more leverage every day because LIV is more and more irrelevant."
Myron Metcalf [20:43]: "The golf is so irrelevant to the grand scheme of things."
The hosts agree that the PGA Tour is likely to regain control as LIV Golf struggles to maintain its relevance and secure high-profile players.
A heated discussion unfolds around Draymond Green's insensitive comments regarding teammate Karl-Anthony Towns. Initially suggesting Towns skipped a game out of fear of an opponent, it was later revealed that Towns was attending a funeral. Draymond's response was criticized for lacking empathy and failing to apologize.
Matt Jones [40:56]: "I just thought it was awful... He just decides that he's just going to promote his show and not offer real empathy."
Myron Metcalf [42:37]: "It sounds like the college that doesn't want to spend a ton of money on his coaching search..."
The hosts lament Draymond's handling of the situation, emphasizing the importance of empathy and accountability, and predicting potential repercussions for his public image and future broadcasting opportunities.
As the episode wraps up, Matt teases upcoming segments, including hosting the NCAA bracket selection show and mentioning future topics. The hosts reaffirm their camaraderie and tease light-hearted banter for the next episode.
Matt Jones [14:23]: "We got time today on Tubi."
Myron Metcalf [37:39]: "Matt and Myron, the podcast."
Matt Jones [01:10]: "I'm not going to ask you about the Lakers or the Warriors to start."
Quentin Richardson [05:16]: "He just has that monotone face. But when he goes out there... he's so entertaining."
Myron Metcalf [27:55]: "He's great, but he's not good enough to get Sam Darnold into the Super Bowl."
