Live from Soldier Field in Chicago. This is Countdown to Kickoff on the Road on ESPN Radio and the ESPN app. Now, alongside of Myron Metcalf, here's Matt Jones. I don't know who made that intro. Circus music Playing circus music that is quite an intro. If you like one of these hats, young man. Here on ESPN Radio, the ESPN app. SiriusXM channel item present. Presented by Progressive Insurance live from the busy Chicago Bears Fan zone outside gate zero. One hour until the early kickoffs. Bears and Patriots here in Chicago. My first trip to a Bears game. Very excited about it and this is a great atmosphere. Not too cold. I got here yesterday and it was really cold, and I bought a jacket and I don't even think I'm gonna need it. It's gonna be moderate temperatures.
Myron Metcalf
Oh, yeah, you got that kind of money, huh? You got like, buy a jacket and leave it at the hotel kind of money?
Matt Jones
I'm not gonna leave it at the hotel. I'm gonna take it back with me.
Myron Metcalf
Yeah, that's a different tax bracket.
Matt Jones
You.
Myron Metcalf
You in? Hey, listen, man, it's beautiful weather. The band is cool. They got a great. I keep doing dance breaks. I don't know if you see me, but, like, I'm running over during our breaks and getting my dance on a little bit and just really being one with the people, because that's what I am, man. I'm one with the people, man.
Matt Jones
That's. That's what I've always said about you. The biggest game tonight for me is tonight, Sunday Night Football. Chris Collins, where it's going to be. Ooh. In on. At this Jared Goff and C.J. stroud game tonight, it's the Lions at the Texans. These are both, you know, the Texans. Some people think Stroud's taken a little step back, like the shoes, young man. But the Lions have a chance to potentially be the best team in the NFL. You believe they are the best teams in the NFL. If they're the best team in the NFL, don't they go to Houston and get a victory done?
Myron Metcalf
Yeah, yeah. I mean, but I think, you know, the Texas obviously has dealt a lot of injury issues that have just changed the dynamic of that team. You know, we talk about Baker Mayfield and what he's lost C.J. stroud dealing with big time losses to Stefan Diggs, obviously with the ACL tear. But you know what? CJ Stroud is a great example, Matt, of how everybody will love you as a rookie and call you the greatest thing ever. And by year two, they're talking about everything that you do wrong.
Matt Jones
Yeah.
Myron Metcalf
Because now the guys learn you.
Matt Jones
They, to be honest, you. They learn you. They learn your streaks and weaknesses. I mean, you see this everywhere. You see it in, in every Sport. Baseball. Paul S.K. comes out the first five times he pitches. He's unhittable.
Myron Metcalf
Yeah.
Matt Jones
Then he gets the next few. And he. He struggled for a few outings, but then what he did is he adjusted and by the end of the year, he was dominant again. CJ Stroud hasn't been bad in the first half, but he hasn't been great. Do you think he adjusts and in the second half of the year becomes more of what he was like last year?
Myron Metcalf
Not. Not this year. Just because what teams are doing, you know, I did that Texans Vikings game. They're just sending all the pressure and they're just trying to say, okay, let's see how fast you can think on your feet. And that's hard for any young player. I think that's what C.J. stroud is really struggling with. And I don't know how that changes. I mean, the Lions just went out and got your guys the Darius Smith, and he's added to a team, by the way.
Matt Jones
I think that's a huge addition. I mean, Zedarius Smith has now played on really his whole career on good defenses.
Myron Metcalf
Yes.
Matt Jones
He was kind of stuck there in Cleveland in a situation that didn't work. He ends up having a shot. He could be one of the guys that's making big plays in the super bowl for him.
Myron Metcalf
He could. And like, credit to alliance team that loses Aiden Hutchinson early in the year.
Matt Jones
800.
Myron Metcalf
Hutchinson, who was the front runner of a defensive player of the year, seven and a half sacks. And then you bring in this guy and you keep rolling. I think they're going to come at CJ Stroud hard and they're going to make him look young, which is what he has looked like in the first half of his second season.
Matt Jones
Yeah, I. You said earlier you think the Lions are the best team. They probably played the best this year. But I want to see him go and win a game like this. I want to go see him win a game at night on the road. These are two of the four franchises that have never made a Super Bowl There are only four franchises that have never made a Super Bowl. The Texans and the Lions. You know who the other two are?
Myron Metcalf
The Texans. The Lions. The. Not the Panthers. Texans.
Matt Jones
Got it.
Myron Metcalf
What's another expansion team?
Matt Jones
Texans going once, Lions going twice.
Myron Metcalf
Not Jacksonville.
Matt Jones
Jacksonville is one. Jacksonville has never been the Super Bowl. And then a team that's existed for a long, long time that's never made the Super Bowl. Does anybody know a team that's the Cleveland Brown. The Cleveland Browns.
Myron Metcalf
Well, they won championships before it was the Super Bowl.
Matt Jones
Yeah, well, I'm saying Super Bowl. I'm not just saying, like, who played out in the 1910s? I'm saying right now, they have not made a Super Bowl.
Myron Metcalf
I want to be able to play. Go ahead.
Matt Jones
All right, so let's look at the Texans team or, excuse me, the Lions team for a second. Dan Campbell, everyone fell in love with, starting with Hard Knocks. When that Metallica, you know, the abyss looks at you and it stares into your soul. Yeah, when I watched that, I really liked him. But what I'm surprised when I watched the lines play every week is how smart they are. And I don't say this as a criticism. Dan Campbell doesn't come off to me as, like, an intellectual, but I think he really is. Like, he comes off to me as just a, you know, punch him in the face guy, but I actually think he is a really smart guy. And their game plans every week, Myron, have been top notch.
Myron Metcalf
Yeah. I was just talking to Justin Craig about this. Right. Like, to me in year one, when he was saying he was going to bite people's kneecaps off, it was easy to feel like, okay, this is a fraud. This is a dude doing stuff for the camera. And now at this point, you're like, okay, that's actually who he really is. I had a chance to do that. Lions, Vikings game. I'm on the field before the game, and I'm watching Dan Campbell, and one of the things that stood out was how much those dudes ride for him, man. Like, that dude was going up and down the sidelines throughout the entire game, interacting with the offense, the defense, special teams. He's involved in everything. And I think sometimes your gift can be. Even if you're not an X's and old guys necessarily, or a specialist, if you can get dudes to all play together on the same page, that's a skill. And I think Dan Campbell has that with his Lions, too.
Matt Jones
I think he does as well. He is. He is the prototypical. What you think the old school Football guy is. And I kind of thought those dudes had been taken out of the league. I kind of thought the whole, let's just go hit him as hard as we can in the face and we'll be tough and we'll be. I thought those dudes were kind of gone. Yeah. And Dan Campbell has done that, but adjusted and done it in a modern way. And I think it's really worked.
Myron Metcalf
I think he's done it and in many ways almost set the blueprint for the new era of those old school guys. Because he cares. Right. Like, he's not afraid to be vulnerable. You've seen that dude go in front of his team and shed tears. He cries about how much, how passionate he is. So I think he is that old school dude who's adapted to, like, this new reality of you got to be able to relate to players, man.
Matt Jones
Will you cry? Are you somebody? Like, I'll cry in an emotional moment. I feel like you were, like, scared to cry.
Myron Metcalf
No, no. I cried mostly in, like, Rocky movie. Like the Rocky series. The Rocky. Rocky and Creed. Like, on planes. I'm a mess. Like, I can't. I can't watch. I can't watch rock.
Matt Jones
When I say tears, you don't think, like, death of a friend, a family member? Of course you think the Rocky movie. Of course.
Myron Metcalf
I'm talking about on a plane.
Matt Jones
On a plane. So you cry watching Rocky on a plane.
Myron Metcalf
It's not safe to be next to me on a plane if there's a Rocky movie on or a creep. I just don't do well with it, man.
Matt Jones
Now, if you listen, I. I host on Thursday nights with Ian Fitzsimmons and we've given homework because I brought this up on Thursday night, I had someone tell me a while back that the best movie they had ever seen in their entire life, and this was a very smart person, was Paddington 2. Was Paddington 2. Have you seen it? And is it wonderful? They said to me that, first of all, it's like, the best movie you've ever seen and it will make you cry. So this week I've never seen it. They told me I don't need to have seen Paddington 1 and that I can watch Paddington 2 and it will change my life. So maybe I will shed Dan Campbell tears as we watch Paddington 2 this week.
Myron Metcalf
Hey, man, I don't.
Matt Jones
Have you ever seen it?
Myron Metcalf
No. I didn't realize it was that deep.
Matt Jones
Mikey, you ever seen it? Nick, have you ever seen Paddington 2? No, no, no, I haven't, but I have heard that I've had heard that it's like transformational. It is one of only seven movies of all time to get a perfect hundred score on Rotten tomatoes with over 100 reviews. There are only seven movies in the history of all time. And all the rest of them are like Godfather, Godfather 2, Schindler's List, and then Patty 2. Which is. Which I'm watching that.
Myron Metcalf
Is that like this generation's Lion King? Because like to this day, that Mufasa, like when they kill Mufasa, people say.
Matt Jones
So I'm going to watch this.
Myron Metcalf
They didn't have to do that.
Matt Jones
Now, right now, the Panthers lead in a game that's also making people. People cry for a different reason. The Panthers lead the Giants 17 to 14. Do you have to watch Paddington 1 before Paddington 2?
Myron Metcalf
Yeah, I don't know.
Matt Jones
I'm told that you don't need to have seen Paddington 1, that Paddington 2 is self enclosed.
Myron Metcalf
Yeah. So. So on this international game, Roger Goodell announced next year they're also going to Spain and they may go to Ireland.
Matt Jones
He wants to play eight games in a foreign country. What's the goal?
Myron Metcalf
Like? Help me understand the old.
Matt Jones
I think their goal is in 25 years, there will be a division in Europe. Like real teams. Yeah, I think that's the goal now. Whether that happens, I don't know, but I think the goal is they'd like to have a team in England, they'd like to have a team in Spain, they'd like to have a team in Germany, and then maybe their other one's Ireland. I don't know.
Myron Metcalf
You've been there and you obviously know how entrenched the soccer culture is. Would that succeed? Could the NFL go to.
Matt Jones
I have a friend. I have a friend who is a part owner of the team at the European League in Prague. And they get really big crowds and I think there's. There's a world they could make it work. Yeah, I will see. I think in London it would work now. Yeah, but it getting the other ones. We'll have to see the Matt Meyer podcast Sunday mornings. You can get it on Spotify, I Heart, and all your various podcasting places coming up next. Don't look now, but the Rams are becoming a Super bowl contender. I. Brian, I gotta tell you, I'm gonna tell you a secret. I'm picking the Rams to go to the Super Bowl.
Myron Metcalf
Oh, whoa.
Matt Jones
I'm picking them to go to the super bowl and I will tell you why.
Myron Metcalf
What?
Matt Jones
How about that tease next here on.
Myron Metcalf

Myron Metcalf
Get in the zone.
Matt Jones
Autozone restrictions apply. Ryan Reynolds here for, I guess my 100th mint commercial. No, no, no, no, no, no, don't. No, no, no. I mean, honestly, when I started this.
Myron Metcalf
I thought I'd only have to do.
Matt Jones
Like four of these. I mean, it's unlimited to Premium Wireless for $15 a month. How are there still that much? I'm sorry, I shouldn't be victim blaming. Here, give it a try@mintmobile.com switch whenever you're ready.

Counting the kickoff here on ESPN radio, the ESPN app, right outside of Soldier Field. Presented by Progressive Insurance. Big shout out to all the listeners of this show that have come by today. It was neat. I thought we would have some from Kentucky and we have, but we've had people from all over including saying, you listen. Yeah, we really, we appreciate it. That's.
Myron Metcalf
That's what is great.
Matt Jones
Go out, see the people.
Myron Metcalf
Yeah, man.
Matt Jones
Press the flesh as the kids.
Myron Metcalf
I don't know what that means.
Matt Jones
It's like a political term. You go out and you press the flesh.
Myron Metcalf
It's like, I don't like that term. I don't. That's shake hands and kiss babies, right?
Matt Jones
Don't like the word flesh, I guess. Right now the giants are down 1714 against the Panthers. Back to back interceptions thrown by Bryce Young and then Daniel Jones, Although Daniel Jones wasn't his fault. But the Panthers go three and out. And now the Giants have the ball close to midfield with a chance to either go tie or win. The game in the battle of mediocrity in Munich.
Myron Metcalf
Yeah, I mean, I know the NFL is going to other countries in the years ahead. Is there a chance they might decline these games if this is what they get? You know, I mean, we give them like five Jacksonville games.
Matt Jones
We do give them a lot.
Myron Metcalf
We throw a Panthers and a Giant.
Matt Jones
I told you when I was in London, London has a lot of Jacksonville fans. There are a lot of. When you're in London, there are a lot of Jaguars jerseys and shirts. I think what they've done there has worked.
Myron Metcalf
Yeah, but Europe gets stuff late, right?
Matt Jones
Like, no, the European usually ahead.
Myron Metcalf
They're still playing.
Matt Jones
That's a very American centric view.
Myron Metcalf
They're like, Britney Spears is number one at this point, probably. Right. Like they're getting stuff late. But.
Matt Jones
But if they do have the Internet.
Myron Metcalf
Well, maybe it feels like we're not giving them top line games. And I wonder if they might make some different requests.
Matt Jones
Well, I. This is not the best game in the world, but it's good to see. I know he hasn't played great, but it's good to see. Bryce Young won last week and being competitive this week. Everybody kind of given up on him. I'm glad to see him play him.
Myron Metcalf
Well and throw more picks and be the guy that is not going to be the franchise.
Matt Jones
Monday Night Football, Dolphins and the Rams. I made a statement before the break that I actually. Oh, look at this. Listen to these Cats fans. Go Cats. Here we go. I'm gonna give you a hat right there. Go Cats.
Myron Metcalf
There you go. I appreciate it. Appreciate that.
Matt Jones
Support Dolphins and the Rams. The Rams are, in my opinion, Myron, the underrated super bowl contender in the nfc.
Myron Metcalf
Yeah, you gotta explain this one to me because we are two weeks away from the Rams basically getting ready to trade everybody. But they didn't and they. But they were close. Right. Remember that whole Cooper cup thing? And he had a great game against the Vikings, but right before that, Adam Schefter was saying, they make move.
Matt Jones
All right, so first of all, they're 4 and 4.
Myron Metcalf
Yep.
Matt Jones
They were 1 and 4. They've won three straight games to kind of get back on the plus side.
Myron Metcalf
Yeah.
Matt Jones
I'm going to read you their schedule. They have this game today against the Dolphins. Then they play the Patriots, Then they play the Eagles at home. They play New Orleans. Buffalo's a tough one. 49ers, Jets, Cardinals, Seahawks. That's a manageable schedule to win the division. I think they win the division and then you look at the NFC get outside of Detroit and who's been good. Get outside of Detroit. Can the Rams. Would you grant me. The Rams can be the second best team. Would you grant me that?
Myron Metcalf
I'm not there yet.
Matt Jones
Okay, but would you grant me. They could be.
Myron Metcalf
The schedule shapes up for the possibility.
Matt Jones
So if they're the second best team and they go into Detroit, you don't think Matthew Stafford could go into Detroit and get that victory. They did it a few years back.
Myron Metcalf
Well, you're. And then obviously the playoff game where they could have won there. I mean, obviously Matthew Stafford has proven that in those moments he performs. They had the great turnaround last year, but that is also counting on the Niners not bouncing back and Seattle kind of being a mediocre team. So.
Matt Jones
But I think both. Seattle is definitely a mediocre team.
Myron Metcalf
Seattle's a team that hasn't played to what people anticipate a lot of injuries. But I think those division games, man, you. You can always get caught. You can.
Matt Jones
And I'm not saying. But I would say to you, the value. If I was doing a value play, I think I saw what are the Rams plus 600 or something to win the NFC, to me, that's a value play. Because I think unlike the afc, where you have Kansas City, you have Buffalo, you have Baltimore, the nfc, second place in the NFC is completely up for grabs. I don't think any team outside of Detroit is all that good. So why not the Rams?
Myron Metcalf
I. I think the difference with the NFC and afc, and you said this, essentially the next tier of teams in the NFC don't scare you. Whereas in the afc, like, if the Texans get rolling all of a sudden again, which could start tonight, that's not a team you're going to want to think about.
Matt Jones
The teams in the afc, like the Texans. Texans would be the second best team in the nfc. Yeah. Texans might beat Detroit tonight.
Myron Metcalf
Yeah.
Matt Jones
And have a shot to be the best team if they were in the nfc.
Myron Metcalf
No, it's different. I mean, the NFC feels outside of the Lions, it does feel more wide open. Although, you know, you got to give the packers credit, the Vikings and what they've been able to do so far. But that number two spot hasn't been solidified. But it could be today if Philly goes and beats the Cowboys, we're going to be talking a lot about what the Eagles might be able to do going forward. Same with some of the other teams that are up for that spot.
Matt Jones
Maybe the quietest team in the NFL with a good record is the Chargers. At 5 and 3 quietly, probably because there are no Chargers fans and no one knows that they play games. But they are five and three with the chance to.
Myron Metcalf
Why do you like there's one team that you really destroyed.
Matt Jones
Let me ask y'all a question, you guys charges. Do any of you know a Chargers fan? Anyone? Do you know one? Charger? Have you ever met them in the wild ever? Exactly. There are no Chargers fans. They exist. I think they're more of a figment of your imagination as a franchise. They play however they play. The Titans, they win. They're 6 and 3 all of a sudden they are set up very well. I think they are a sleeper team. Harbaugh started slow, started at 1 and 2, but since then have done very well.
Myron Metcalf
I mean Harbaugh, what do you bring him in for? To develop a quarterback like Justin Herbert. And Justin Herbert is the guy who's been good these last few weeks. He's played a lot better. Yes. And like he's a dude who if you look at his first three seasons, I think it's only Andrew Lucky who had more yards. I mean this is a dude who I think was right behind Tom Brady in one of his last years in passing yard. This could be the year where he really takes that next step with Harbaugh and that team ends up kind of fighting for a playoffs.
Matt Jones
It's the strangest franchise in the world because they play in the second biggest city in America.
Myron Metcalf
Nobody cares.
Matt Jones
And yet no one cares. And it allows them to be completely under the radar. Justin Herbert. Name me a quarterback that has people discuss less.
Myron Metcalf
Yeah.
Matt Jones
No one ever mentions. I mean think about the Chargers. They are in la. They have Jim Harbaugh, a very known coach.
Myron Metcalf
Yeah.
Matt Jones
They have a quarterback who was the second pick in the draft and yet they never get talked about, ever.
Myron Metcalf
LA doesn't care about sports like that though. I mean that's like. That's like the biggest myth about la, man. You go to a Lakers game, people walk in in the second quarter, they leave by the third quarter. The Rams and the Chargers are always outsold by the opposing team's fans. Yes. If you have the Dodgers, there's a lot of buzz around that organization. But like everybody else, I don't think LA people are die hard fans. Like they're just not diehard sports.
Matt Jones
True Lakers, like have you been to Lakers game?
Myron Metcalf
Have you been to a Lakers game?
Matt Jones
But I would say to you that most Laker fans just can't afford to go.
Myron Metcalf
But they're not die hard though. They're not. They're not die hard compared to some other fan base. You just said the Chargers don't have a fan that exists anywhere in the world. The Charger and I say LA doesn't have die hard fans and that's something I can't say.
Matt Jones
I don't think the Chargers are considered a part of la. The Titans really quick go put Will Levis back in. Can my guy salvage his career in the rest of this season?
Myron Metcalf
You know what? You know what? The same thing I see in Kentucky with him when he starts forcing things, he makes a lot of big mistakes. He's like a dude who has to figure out how to go 65 miles an hour because once he hits 70 he starts making mistakes. So if he can be balanced, there's a chance. And remember, the Titans have the best pass defense in the league right now, man. So they're going to give him chances to win.
Matt Jones
Yeah, I, you know, I love Will and I'm hoping that he works. To me, he's kind of in this period where he's playing the next few weeks for his career, 100%. If he does not play well, the Titans are going to clearly draft the quarterback. They may do it anyway. But if he doesn't play well then, then he's looking at being a backup, which is probably not what he hoped when he was in the league. We are here in Chicago, the Chicago Bears and the New England Patriots. Our second time on the road with Sunday MORNING with Matt Myron. I've enjoyed it so far. We got to hang out last night.
Myron Metcalf
Yeah, that's fine, man.
Matt Jones
You know, you get Are you going to explain why you ordered 3ths of a sprint?
Myron Metcalf
I didn't order 3ths of a sprint.
Matt Jones
You ordered 3ths of a sprint.
Myron Metcalf
It wasn't. That's not how it went.
Matt Jones
He literally said that's not exactly how.
Myron Metcalf
Man, I was just trying.
Matt Jones
Aaron Rodgers got another win, but are the jets still doomed? He's Aaron Rodgers has had a good week, but is it enough to make it to where his season turns around? It is countdown to kickoff here on ESPN Radio in Chicago where the Patriots and the Bears will be playing in 30 minutes. The busy fan zone. Just visit out and people are now starting to go to the game. So the band that, you know, seemed like good guys but had been playing a long time, they just took a break and now the noise is a little down and we're 30 minutes away from kickoff. Give me the update of the Panthers and the Giants.
Myron Metcalf
Giants are driving down the field. They're in field goal range, down 1714 to the Panthers.
Matt Jones
I just got a first down. We'll see if Daniel Jones is able to go either tie it or win going into, you know, going into the final part of the game. We, by the way, on December 1st will be in Cincinnati, Ohio for Steelers. Yeah, Bengals. Let me just tell you all something. I've said this before. There's no better place to see a fight than Cincinnati for a Bengals Steelers game. Yeah, we're going to be there. I've been telling you about Bengals Steelers games for six years and now we're going to be on ground zero here in a couple weeks.
Myron Metcalf
Yeah. What's our security situation for that game? Because it feels like people walk in fighting.
Matt Jones
You know the guy we had here earlier that was wearing the bear suit.
Myron Metcalf
Yeah.
Matt Jones
At Bengal Steelers. Like he would be considered a security guard. He would be considered like the normal person. Just wait, you're going to see what I'm saying on December 1st. It'll be a different thing. Now the Jets Aaron Rodgers half time of last week it looked like it was over. Yeah, it looked like we were already riding the obituary on the season Aaron Rodgers career was over and then he Comes out in the second half, has a big game. I consider today at the Cardinals mirroring for them a little bit. Like when you remember when you would play 21 or something, right. And you would get a tip, but then you would have to hit a free throw to what was the game? Well, but you have to free throw to, like, validated or something. Like, you know, what was the. What was the phrase?
Myron Metcalf
I don't know.
Matt Jones
But you know what I'm talking about. You'd have to hit a free throw.
Myron Metcalf
Yeah. We might have played different versions of 21 then. Y'all played.
Matt Jones
Why are you looking at me like that? There was. You had to hit a free throw.
Myron Metcalf
But you talk about the mountain version, and I'm talking about McGovern park version. It's just. It might be two different versions.
Matt Jones
It's not a big. It's the same thing. You shoot, and if you tip it, they go back to zero and all that. But then you have to validate.
Myron Metcalf
Yeah, yeah, I know what you're talking about.
Matt Jones
Why you acting like you don't know what I'm talking about? Anyway, I consider today's Packers Cardinals game.
Myron Metcalf
You mean Cardinals, Jets.
Matt Jones
Cardinals, Jets. Excuse me. I have in my mind the Packers. I consider this Aaron Rodgers free throw to validate. Yeah, he looked. Yes, he looked last week, like, okay, maybe the Aaron Rodgers of old is back, but if you're going to be a team that I need to care about, you have to go win in Arizona today.
Myron Metcalf
Yeah, I mean, you know, obviously, him and Devonte Adams finally getting on the same page after their reunion. He did look good in the second half of that game. They had just lost to the Patriots. But it's weird to me that we're not saying more about Kyler Murray, like, he's playing well. If you want to talk about former number one picks that sort of just disappeared from the conversation in sports, Kyler Murray is number one to me. They played really well. He has a chance to win his fourth game in the last five. He has been solid, man. And I think this is the kind of team where, yes, it's all about the jets and whether or not they can maintain these slim playoff hopes. But I think the bigger story for the NFL playoff picture is the Cardinals have a shot to keep this momentum going. And maybe being a team that the.
Matt Jones
Cardinals are a bigger story than Aaron Rodgers.
Myron Metcalf
I think in terms of the NFL playoff picture, they've got a better chance to get in right now than the jets do.
Matt Jones
I'm going to give you a stat About Aaron Rodgers, it's going to blow your mind.
Myron Metcalf
Okay.
Matt Jones
Aaron Rodgers has 31 consecutive starts where he hasn't thrown for 300 yards.
Myron Metcalf
Oh wow.
Matt Jones
That's 31. It's the longest active streak in the NFL. Guess what's the second longest? 18th.
Myron Metcalf
Oh, wow.
Matt Jones
So I mean we're talking about a guy that we still treat as if there's some sort of amazing magic and he is going 31 games without 300 yards. That is an amazing statistic that I don't think anyone even fathoms when they talk about him.
Myron Metcalf
Yeah, I mean you can look at that. I want to know how many games he's won during that stretch.
Matt Jones
Right.
Myron Metcalf
I think he's also been one of the more efficient quarterbacks. At the same time, I don't think the jets brought him in to be a guy who has to throw for 400 yards in order for them to win. Like, remember they brought in Aaron Rodgers and Aaron Rodgers picked the jets because they had a defense that looked like it could be the defense of the NFL, one of the top units and you would sort of build around that. They haven't been that. So Aaron Rodgers has been asked to do more than I think he expected to do. But if it's efficient Aaron Rodgers with 250 plus yards and a couple touchdowns.
Matt Jones
31 games, you don't think he would even luck into 300 yards in 31 games.
Myron Metcalf
But it doesn't, it doesn't change what they've asked him to do.
Matt Jones
I think it's affirmation for what I felt about him for a while, which is this is not, it's not the same player. And, but I do think today, if they win today, their schedule was kind of harder on the front end. So if they win today, they still have a shot to turn this around. I would say, Myron, if they lose today and drop to three and seven, you're probably seeing the, any possibility of the jets winning and their 16 year playoff drought continuing and then they maybe.
Myron Metcalf
Blow up the team. Right. I mean they maybe just start, you.
Matt Jones
Think just give up at that point?
Myron Metcalf
Well, I don't know. I mean, I don't think Aaron Rodgers was ever going to be the same guy. The question I always wonder when people say that is what was the same guy in that conversation, the guy who won mvp? That was almost four years ago with those back to back MVP runs. He obviously in the last year in Green Bay, he wasn't great. You know what I mean? He was good. But the packers knew us going To Jordan. Love won't be that big of a drop off and that gamble paid off for them. He gets hurt last year and now I'm Talking about a 40 year old guy who's not supposed to be the Aaron Rodgers from five years ago. But he needs a better team around him in order for them to win against the best teams in this league.
Matt Jones
You can give shout the Dr. Pepper call in line. 888 say ESPN. The Giants have just had a 43 yard game time field goal. It is now 1717 which means, hey Munich, you get free mediocre to bad football as the Giants and the Panthers are going to go to overtime. Munich, you owe us. All right, we're giving you free football to all of our German friends.
Myron Metcalf
So in the last Germany games, the last three, the under has hit every time. So in the last three NFL games that have been played in Germany, so we're not giving them a lot of exciting football. It feels like.
Matt Jones
Matt, you told me that like that was gonna be something that was really.
Myron Metcalf
Well, you're never impressed by me. Right, But I'm very impressed by you. I think it's compelling because like this is what we're giving Europe.
Matt Jones
But I would say to you German, I would say to Germans, you know, you guys have terrible food. So the comments, why was that necessary? Well, no, I think it's true. I've been everywhere in Europe and in my opinion Germany and Austria have the worst food. Now they have good like other countries, like other cuisines in Germany. But if you're just talking about German food, schnitzel and just like fried block. I think German food is fried.
Myron Metcalf
What?
Matt Jones
It's a side. That's what they call it. They call it.
Myron Metcalf
So you just walk up to a restaurant and you basically like act like you're about to throw up and they give you.
Matt Jones
And that's what they give you. And so I would say if the Germans are gonna give us the worst food.
Myron Metcalf
Yeah.
Matt Jones
We are going to give them the worst football.
Myron Metcalf
Yeah. Again, it feels like they're gonna be making different demands with some of these international.
Matt Jones
I'm just telling you it is literally it's the worst food in Europe. People say England's worse. There's better food in England than there is in Germany. Germany is the worst.
Myron Metcalf
If they lose here the Giants, does somebody get fired or demoted? I mean are they at that point?
Matt Jones
No, but Daniel Jones is done at the end of the year.
Myron Metcalf
Yeah.
Matt Jones
So I think you sit there and now think, do we just let him play out the string or not, but he. But they'll have a different quarterback next year and they'll probably have a different coach as well. It is now time for us to make our picks. We go through every game. Nick, am I still leading Myron after last week?
Myron Metcalf
Yes.
Matt Jones
Somehow Myron talked himself out of like three wins. So you still have a one game lead.
Myron Metcalf
Yeah, I could have been up.
Matt Jones
You could have been a contender.
Myron Metcalf
Could have been a contender.
Matt Jones
That's right. We will pick all the games and then Myron and I will go in. I'm excited. My first trip into Soldier Field. That's next right here on Canada. Kickoff on ESPN Radio.
Myron Metcalf
Football Sunday on ESPN Radio. I've been in the darkness.
Matt Jones
You gotta make peace with it.
Myron Metcalf
Aaron Rodgers leads the New York jets into Arizona to face Kyler Murray in the NFC West. Leading Cardinals.
Matt Jones
Tyler Murray flushed out running, throwing deep. He's got Harrison.
Myron Metcalf
Touchdown. The jets at the Cardinals coverage begins today at 4 Eastern on select ESPN radio stations. So you want to be a marketer? It's easy. You just have to score a ton of leads and figure out a way to turn them all into customers.
Matt Jones
Plus manage a dozen channels, write a million blogs and launch 100 campaigns all at once. When that's done, simply make your socials.
Myron Metcalf
Go viral and bring in record profits.
Matt Jones
No sweat.
Myron Metcalf
Okay, fine, it's a lot of sweat. But with HubSpot's AI powered marketing tools.
Matt Jones
Launching benchmark breaking campaigns is easier than ever. Get started. @HubSpot.com marketers, you can get the most important meal of the day any time of day.
Myron Metcalf
I'm Talking about the $5 Big Deal Breakfast meal from Jack in the Box, available all day and all night.
Matt Jones
A breakfast Jack with a freshly cracked.
Myron Metcalf
Egg, a hash brown and French toast.
Matt Jones
Sticks for five bucks. Sounds good.
Myron Metcalf
For breakfast, lunch and dinner at Jack.
Matt Jones
Every bite's a big deal. Order Jack's $5 big deal breakfast meal now.
Myron Metcalf
Matt and Myron the po.
Matt Jones
Is this a German song? What is it? Der Kommissar der Commissar from Germany. I will say I do like sauerkraut. But in general, Germans I think should know you do have the worst food. Wasn't nearly as good as any other food in Europe. Mexican, South American, Peruvian, Asian, Thai. Just pick it. Germans have African. German food is the worst, I would.
Myron Metcalf
Argue in the world is Milli Vanilli from Germany, right? Didn't Germany produce Milli vanilla?
Matt Jones
Rest my case.
Myron Metcalf
Yeah, I'm not going to talk negative about a place that produced Milli Vanilla.
Matt Jones
I'm not going Giants and Panthers in overtime. Seventeen. Seventeen probably. We'll, we'll let you know if it finishes before the show. I'm not sure it is. We are here at Soldier Field. It is now time, as always to end our show by taking our pick. Take your pick.
Myron Metcalf
You take your pick. It's time to take your pick.
Matt Jones
All right, let's get started. I have a one game lead on Myron. Working on a six year winning streak. We'll see if we can make it seven here in week number 10. What's up first?
Myron Metcalf
49Ers and Buccaneers 49ers.
Matt Jones
The Bucks, what do you like?
Myron Metcalf
I mean no Chris Godman, obviously. No Mike Evans. That's just been a difference maker for a Bucks def Bucks team that's given up 34 points per game. Can't score without their top players. Christian McCaffrey's back. San Francisco win this and I think it might be a blowout.
Matt Jones
I actually think this game will be very close, but I do think the 49ers win on the road. This is a bit. This is kind of a swing game for both teams. You win, you have a winning record or in the Bucks case, you're 500. If you lose, your path to the playoffs gets a lot harder. So I think you go either way. But I will take San Francisco to win in Tampa Bay. What's next?
Myron Metcalf
Broncos at Chiefs. The big one.
Matt Jones
My the Chiefs eight.
Myron Metcalf
No, listen. Kansas City had a lot of problems with Denver last year. Bo Nix has had some moments. Patrick certain it's going to be matched up against DeAndre Hopkins. Ultimately won't matter. Kansas City will win. But I think this will be a one score game.
Matt Jones
These games are weird. The Chiefs end when the Chiefs play the Broncos and the Raiders. The games are either, if you look historically in the last seven years, they're either routes or it's a one score game. That's it. There's no middle ground. They either win by 30 or it's a three point game or they lose like they did on Christmas Day. Yeah, I'm with you. I'm taking the Chiefs to win, but the spread is seven and a half. If I was betting the spread, I would definitely take the Broncos, but I will take the Chiefs to win the game. Who's up next?
Myron Metcalf
Steelers at Commanders. Man, I go back and forth on this game because the Steelers are really good at controlling the clock. The run game has been efficient, but to me it's a close game and I'm picking the young star Jaden Daniels just to make a couple of big plays to get the win in a close game here. I'll pick the commanders.
Matt Jones
I'm going to take the Steelers to go on the road and pull what is a slight upset by the spread. I've been really impressed with the way they've played the last couple weeks. The commanders have won but they've been shaky in these last few weeks. I like the Steelers. Plus the Steelers fans have said we are taking over Washington. They are trying to have more fans than the commanders have and I think they might do it. What's next?
Myron Metcalf
Vikings at Jaguars I know Trevor Lawrence, you're playing Mac Jones. You better win this game by 10 or more if you're the Vikings and you want to make a statement. But I'm going to tell you something, the Vikings struggle in games like this. When there's a backup quarterback and they're supposed to win, they'll win today. I won't be shocked if it's a one score game.
Matt Jones
Here's the worst part of Mac Jones being back. People get our names confused and they think his name is Matt Jones and when they get mad at him they write me on Twitter as if Mac Jones name would be KY Sports Radio on Twitter. But they search Matt Jones thinking it's his name. I come up and then they tell me I suck. I thought I was done with it and now Mac Jones is back. So I don't like it. Give me the Vikings and I hope Trevor Lawrence comes back because I can't have any more Mac Jones. What's next?
Myron Metcalf
Falcons head Saints? I mean maybe those people are just mad at you. Man. This is weird man. Like I know the Saints have lost seven in a row. They have no chance here. But this is an NFC south game so it will be. It will be close down to the fourth quarter and I have a hard time picking the Falcons when they're playing the Saints. I'm going to do it. I don't feel great about it.
Matt Jones
I was.08 this season picking Falcons games. I had gotten every single game wrong until last week. I picked the Falcons to beat the Cowboys and they won. I think I'm now on a Falcons hot streak. It will continue by the Falcons beating the Saints today. Why does it look like it's six o'clock at night all day?
Myron Metcalf
Yeah. Just got rule changed, the vibe changed. Bills at Colts. You know you got a Bills team that is dealing with some injuries at receiver. Do we know if Amari Cooper is definitely playing? I think that's a big factor in this. But I think the run defense for the Colts has been really, really bad. I think they are the second or third worst in the NFL. James Cook will have a big game. Cooper's out. Cooper's out. I'm still picking the Bills because James Cook and the run game and Josh Allen, they're going to win.
Matt Jones
I'll take the Bills. I don't think Flacco or Richardson is playing well at this point. Buffalo on the road. I think they get the victory. What's next?
Myron Metcalf
Patriots at Bears.
Matt Jones
Right where we are, right here in Chicago. Patriots and the Bears. Drake May versus Caleb Williams.
Myron Metcalf
All I can say is the Bears aren't good enough to overlook this Jags, this Patriots team. That's how the jets got caught. That's how Scentsy got caught early in the season. And Drake May is coming in to say, listen, I belong in a conversation too in this draft class, but I think Caleb Williams is due for a bounce back game. The Bears win.
Matt Jones
This is a coping mechanism for me because I'm here. I want the Bears to win. I'm going to pick the Patriots. It's the same thing. Same thing.
Myron Metcalf
Whoa.
Matt Jones
Look. It's the same thing with Lake.
Myron Metcalf
Oh, can you do that?
Matt Jones
I have to because I don't want to have my heart broken. At least if the Patriots win, I can just taunt you tonight about being right. I actually do think the Patriots win. The Patriots have been playing well. I don't like bad feeling last week in Arizona from the Bears, so I'm going to take the Patriots even though I don't feel good. That's why you got to go with your head instead of your heart. What's next?
Myron Metcalf
That's big. Titans at Chargers. The Titans do have the best pass defense in the NFL despite all the other challenges they have. So I think Justin Herbert might not be as efficient as he has been in recent weeks. And Will Levis comes back with something to prove. I want to pick the Titans, but I'm not that bold. I'll pick the Chargers.
Matt Jones
I think the Chargers win probably big. I want to see Will play well. I hope he does, but I think the Chargers are on an uptick and I think the Titans might be going for the first pick the way they've been playing recently. What's next?
Myron Metcalf
Eagles at Cowboys.
Matt Jones
Big one.
Myron Metcalf
It's a big game. Obviously, Cooper Rush is playing instead of Dan Prescott, but. But consider some of these numbers. The Cowboys have won 17 in the last 18 home games in their division. They've won 10 in a row. Cooper Rush is five and one filling in for Dak Prescott. His only loss was in 2022 to the Philadelphia Eagles. And Jalen hurts he's going to get another win today. I don't trust the Eagles.
Matt Jones
Give me the Cowboys 010 against the Cowboys 0 and 10.
Myron Metcalf
Saquon. Isn't that crazy?
Matt Jones
It's crazy. It ends today.
Myron Metcalf
All right.
Matt Jones
You're picking the Cowboys.
Myron Metcalf
I just did.
Matt Jones
What is wrong with you?
Myron Metcalf
You just gave me a lot of things. Ask my therapist.
Matt Jones
You just gave me a free game. Thank you.
Myron Metcalf
I just that.
Matt Jones
I hope that's the game, Nick, that makes me beat him for another year. That was a free game for me. He's giving you like, three free games. He picked the Saints.
Myron Metcalf
I didn't pick the Saints. I picked the Falcons.
Matt Jones
I may have misheard on that one.
Myron Metcalf
No, see, this game is rigged. I picked the Falcons, definitely.
Matt Jones
I got the Eagles. What's next?
Myron Metcalf
Jets at Cardinals.
Matt Jones
This is a big one. I can see this going either way.
Myron Metcalf
I clearly said Falcons, man. What are you talking.
Matt Jones
All right, we got it. Let's go.
Myron Metcalf
All right, I'll pick the jets here. I think they figured something out in the second half of that last game. The defense has to be better. I think it will be. But confident Aaron Rodgers will be hard to stop in this game. Even though I like the Cardinals a.
Matt Jones
Lot, it's a flip a coin game for me.
Myron Metcalf
It is.
Matt Jones
I mean, honestly, I could see either way going. I've been pretty anti Aaron Rodgers. I kind of feel like they go win that game, though. I think there's going to be a lot of, like, you know, Aaron Rodgers kind of Joe Rogan, podcasty people there out in Phoenix. They all moved there during COVID So I think that. I think the jets will end up winning in Arizona. What's next?
Myron Metcalf
Lions at Texans.
Matt Jones
Big one tonight.
Myron Metcalf
I mean, the Texans have a lot to prove in this game. C.J. stroud has a lot to prove. But the Lions are just going to throw all the pressure that they threw at Sam Donald and everybody else. And CJ Stroud will be rattled. And I think the Lions get a significant win. I think they went by double digits. And then we go on to Monday saying, let's start talking about this Lions, Kansas City Super Bowl.
Matt Jones
It looks like we are about to.
Myron Metcalf
Get hit by, like.
Matt Jones
It does feel like it just came out.
Myron Metcalf
It does feel like the meteorologist didn't tell us about this.
Matt Jones
I mean, it's coming. I'm going to take the Lions here. Although I think if you're the Texans and you want to be real, you got to make a statement national television with everybody watching, a great team in your town. You got to protect your home field. I don't know if that's going to happen. I'm going to take Detroit to win. And finally, what's Monday Night Football tomorrow?
Myron Metcalf
Dolphins at Rams. You know what I mean? The Rams are a team that I think a lot of people slept on. You know, tua to me, Tyree Kill. I know. Doing everything to play. They're due for a big moment, man, and I think this could be it. I don't think the Rams are as good as they've looked the last couple of weeks. I'm going to pick the Dolphins here.
Matt Jones
I'm going to take the Rams. I think the Rams are a Super bowl team, so I'm going to take them. Give me the Rams to win. Thank you very much for all that. Let me get. Let me give you some shout outs.
Myron Metcalf
Yeah, yeah, do it.
Matt Jones
It's an awesome, awesome trip here in Chicago. So let me thank some people. Let's thank Thomas Schomper, Jason McKee for coming in. Dave, who came by in his bear outfit, the 82nd Airborne band that was up there making it go. Herm is always great. Casey came on for officiating. Brett for the Airstream Studio, which is awesome. The Face Painters, who you stiff.
Myron Metcalf
I paid her. Don't say that. I paid her.
Matt Jones
Not paying. Paul, Jeff, James, Kaylee and the ESPN team Nick and Mikey see in the studio. Justin Craig. Justin Craig. That's exactly right. Let me thank not only the people who listen to this show, but a special shout out to the KSR fans. We probably had a ton of 25, 30 of them stopped by over the course of the day. Thank you for staying the entire show. I appreciate it.
