Ian podcast and we gotta win one of the great speeches in sports history as quoted by Myron Metcalf. It's Amber Ian here on ESPN Radio. Matt Jones, he's Myron Metcalf. We're on Sunday mornings from 10 to 1. You could also get us on podcast Sunday mornings with Matt and Myron. Always good entertainment that goes all week long there on your little podcast machine. Myron, it's been a fun two hours with you. So for so far, I know that's. Time flies when you, when you, when you connect like you and I, you and I do, we have, we, we have a text machine where people can write in and ask comments. 772-774-5254. One person on here writes and says, Myron put Lamar Jackson as his number one quarterback. I would say to Myron, has he ever watched a football game in his life?
Myron Metcalf
Yeah, I mean, comments like that are never like, that's just like, you don't have to do that. Right? If you, if you want to say you hate that I made Lamar one, that's fine, right? But like, come on, that's too far. Have I ever watched a football. Yes, I've watched many football games. So I don't, I don't, I never understand why that's always the pushback. Have you ever watched a football game? Like, what are we talking about?
Matt Jones
Oh, so you think that's a little.
Myron Metcalf
Me, a little too far? I feel like, I feel like it's just too far.
Matt Jones
Another person writes and says, matt, I was excited to hear about the Braves and Reds playing at the NASCAR racetrack. I did not know that was going to happen. I looked up the uniforms and they are straight fire. My question is, has Myron ever been to a NASCAR race? That's a good question. If I feel like you say things, a lot of things are on your bucket list. How long is this list?
Myron Metcalf
As long as it needs to be. It's a bucket list. There's no limitations on a bucket list.
Matt Jones
Yeah, but isn't the goal to try to accomplish all of these things?
Myron Metcalf
I've done a bunch of stuff. But what do you. Are you trying to put you're running on a person's bucket list?
Matt Jones
Well, you're running out of time doing a few of these.
Myron Metcalf
But why are you putting limits on my bucket list? It's my. It's my bucket list. You have a bucket list?
Matt Jones
I do most of the things I want. I mean, I can't think of. You know, there's some countries I'd like to go to, but like I told. I told you, I'm going to South Africa here in a couple months. And, you know, I'd like to go to some countries, but for the most part, like, if there's something to do, I'm gonna go do it. I'm not gonna sit and just put it on a bucket list and then never go do it.
Myron Metcalf
Well, I'm sorry for your life, because if that's how you see things, you've just done everything. Good for you.
Matt Jones
No, I go do it. Good for you, man.
Myron Metcalf
Okay, you've done. You leap in tall buildings, too, while you're at it. What are you talking about? You've done everything you wanted to do.
Matt Jones
Okay, Good for you.
Myron Metcalf
Talking about, man, I have a bucket list. Most of us do.
Matt Jones
Okay. All right. I mean, I've jumped out of a plane. Have you ever jumped out of a plane?
Myron Metcalf
I didn't know you jumped out. No, I'm not.
Matt Jones
Is that on your bucket list?
Myron Metcalf
No, not bungee jump. None of that stuff is not on my. No way.
Matt Jones
Let's go back to the NASCAR race. Feels like a bucket list item that we could actually make happen for you because they have one every week, so it feels like you could get to one.
Myron Metcalf
Well, people keep telling me I got to go to the Indy 501st. Like that. That should be my first Skip it over nascar. No, I had a guy who was like, I'll put you up. You should come out. I'll hang out.
Matt Jones
Like, I mean, it's a party. Indy 500 is a nice party, but if you want to go to a nascar, like, if you want to go. Rubbing is racing. Right? Like. Like, get her done that.
Myron Metcalf
You say rubbing is racing?
Matt Jones
Yeah. Have you not heard of Days of Thunder where he says rubbins racing?
Myron Metcalf
Maybe I forgot that. It just. It just. Out of context, it just sounded.
Matt Jones
Yeah, well, sometimes. Sometimes you're. Sometimes when You. When in nascar, the cars hit each other, they call it rubbing. And so you can't get mad because rubbing's racing, okay?
Myron Metcalf
You see a Cinemax show from back in the day, I didn't know that was, like, something that people say, okay. Rubbing is racing, okay?
Matt Jones
Normally it's on after midnight, but it's called Rubbing's Racing, okay?
Myron Metcalf
And are you coming with me to this nascar because. Yeah, I don't think I should go to NASCAR unaccompanied.
Rachel
Guys, can I tag along?
Matt Jones
You're more than welcome to. I'm going to. I'll tell you a quick NASCAR race story. I'm going to take you to NASCAR race. I'm taking you to one in the hills. We're not going to, like, New Hampshire or one of those. We're going to. We're going in the hills. We're going to either Bristol or Martinsville or Richmond, like in. In the hills. And this is a true story. I had a friend from Australia that I took to a race in Martinsville, and it was the Martinsville 500, Myron, which means 500 laps around the track. And so this friend of mine, this was back when Jeff Gordon was really good, and Jeff Gordon was considered, like, the bad guy, right? He was kind of like the pretty boy bad guy. So he wore all Jeff Gordon gear. He'd never seen a race, and he wore all Jeff Gordon gear. He stood up, he spoke in his Australian accent. People were booing him. So we're watching the race, watching the race. After, like, 150 laps, he disappears. Oh, and I can't find him. So I walk outside, and this is a long time ago. Martinsville still had grass, like, in the. In the. In the area. I walk and he's sitting in the grass, and he's just laying in the grass. And I go, his name was Ed. And I was like, ed, what are you doing, man? Why are you sitting out here? There's still 300 laps to go. And he looked at me and he goes, mate, Martinsville 500. He was like, I think it should be like the Martinsville 200. The last 300 laps seem a bit superfluous. Which I thought, which has always been one of my favorite lines about NASCAR, he was like, the last 300 laps seem a bit superfluous.
Myron Metcalf
He ain't lying, though. He ain't. He ain't lying. Let me tell you something, though. If y' all lose me at nascar, y' all better put somebody on the loudspeaker to come find me.
Matt Jones
Cuz.
Myron Metcalf
Don't let me get lost. I'm. I'm gonna have a flare gun out there. I am not getting lost.
Matt Jones
So now we'll. We'll. We'll keep our eyes on you.
Rachel
We'll use Life360 or an air tag.
Matt Jones
We'll make sure you don't get lost. At Martinsville, neon says, call me if.
Rachel
If found, call again.
Matt Jones
This has probably changed. I have not been to Martinsville in many years. So I don't know if it's still like this, but I used to go a lot. And what I liked about Martinsville is Martinsville, Myron is a small town. Like, it only has like 10,000 people. And the racetrack is right in the middle of town, like directly in the middle of town. And I, you know, I'm big on parking because I like to get in.
Myron Metcalf
I'm big on parking, too. That's big for me.
Matt Jones
I'm big on parking, so I like to get in and get out. So I remember I knew somebody who lived in the town next to Martinsville, and I was like, hey, I'm going to the race in Martinsville. Where should I park? And he goes, if you want the best parking in Martinsville, get to the Arby's by 8:30am And I love. I just love a sport and a sport venue where the key to parking is get to the Arby's by 8:30am.
Myron Metcalf
I love that they're doing something at Arby's. Notice how they'll park there but not eat there. Right? Like, that's the.
Matt Jones
That's the key. What are you talking. You don't like Arby's?
Rachel
You can tailgate at the Arby's and get the food there.
Myron Metcalf
First I've heard of.
Matt Jones
What's wrong?
Myron Metcalf
Parking lot. I'm just saying we're talking about using the parking lot and that actually going into the actual.
Matt Jones
Well, I don't know. 888, say, ESPN. If you're around Martinsville, Virginia, I would be curious if they still have the Arby's, if that's still the premier parking in Martinsville. But to finish the story, this was the same trip with my Australian friend. We left early. We got to the Arby's, but we got there at like nine. Guess what? It was full. The guy told me when I pulled up the lot, he said you needed to be there by 8:30.
Myron Metcalf
He said 8:30. He was not kidding.
Matt Jones
He was not kidding.
Myron Metcalf
I love it that someone knows what time you got to be at the Arby's to Park for the race. If you're not there 8:30, you are out of luck.
Matt Jones
When you go to Yankee Stadium or when you go to Soldier Field, there's no be at the Arby's by 8:30. Martinsville, Virginia is a very unique thing, so. Well, anyway, that was not the topic we had listed here on the, on the screen, but nevertheless, there you go. So are you going to watch the baseball game at the Bristol Motor Speedway?
Myron Metcalf
Yeah. When is it next week?
Matt Jones
It's next Saturday. Are there other like, cross sport things like that you would like to see or like, maybe I want to see.
Myron Metcalf
An outdoor NBA game. I want to see an outboard outdoor NBA game.
Matt Jones
They don't do an outdoor NBA game.
Myron Metcalf
They used to. Remember, they used to like preseason. Remember they used to do like, they did a couple preseason games some years ago outdoors.
Rachel
Where would you do that?
Matt Jones
No, you played it like Rucker. Yeah, right.
Myron Metcalf
Do something like that. I'd love to see it.
Matt Jones
I think that would be awesome. Well, they played. They played a college basketball game once on like an Army Nate or like a neighbor.
Myron Metcalf
But everyone kept.
Matt Jones
Do you remember that?
Myron Metcalf
They had to end it because like the condensation, it got too slippery so they couldn't. Remember, everybody kept slipping. Remember that?
Matt Jones
The kids. Yeah, that's right. It was like Michigan State, North Carolina or something. Everybody kept falling down. Yeah.
Myron Metcalf
No, I'd love to see.
Matt Jones
I'd love to see, you know, they play the hockey. They play those hockey games out in football stadiums or in Wrigley.
Myron Metcalf
You don't need outdoor hockey. It's cold enough. You don't have to do outdoor. Nobody needs to do outdoor hockey. I mean, they've done a bunch of those games here and it's been like 20 below zero. Nothing's fun. 20 below zero. It's just not. I don't care what anyone tells you. It's just not fun.
Matt Jones
Well, I'm looking forward to it. I think it's cool baseball's doing it and hopefully they'll keep doing more of that stuff. Now, we earlier had the top five quarterbacks for Meyer and Metcalf, but there's another one on this show myself and I would like to give you my top five quarterbacks and more parking tips for when you go to racetracks in the mountains. That's next here on Amber and Ian on espn.
Myron Metcalf

Matt Jones
Yeah, let's get it funky here on Amber and Ian. Presented by Progressive Insurance. Matt Jones, Meyer Metcalf filling in little Mary J. Blige to get you ready.
Myron Metcalf
For making up words in this song.
Matt Jones
Yeah, that's right. What is it?
Myron Metcalf
She says dancery. She just makes up words.
Matt Jones
I like it. That's how you know you're a big star. All right, so we already earlier had Myron pick his top five quarterbacks in the NFL for the Rank Em segment, but there's two people on this show, one of whom has glasses that he's worn for eight years. But his co host never noticed, and it is now his chance to make the picks. Let's go. Let's rank them.
Myron Metcalf
ESPN Radio was NFL rank up from the top five faces of the NFL.
Matt Jones
Roger Goodell, Patrick Mahomes. Jerry Jones is the face in the.
Myron Metcalf
NFL to the top five challengers to the chance, the Baltimore Ravens.
Rachel
It's their time.
Matt Jones
The Detroit Lions, the Kansas City Chiefs.
Myron Metcalf
At number one on my list and everything in between. This is ESPN Radio's NFL Rank up top five quarterbacks, number five.
Matt Jones
All right, so I actually think number five is the most interesting one on the list because I think most people tend to agree the top four in some order. But there's a lot of people that can go for number five. I think there's a strong argument that you might make for Matthew Stafford at number five. He's been, of course, a Super bowl winner. If you give me this question two years ago, I probably take Matthew Stafford. Jaden Daniels played very well this year, went to the NFC championship game, and then even CJ Stroud two years ago would have been number five on a lot of people's list. But for me, he won the Super Bowl. So Jalen Hurts needs to be there. I saw the listing where they entered, interviewed players and coaches and and media and they had Jalen hurts at number nine. There's no way I can do that. ESPN's list had him number nine. I don't think you can put him lower than number five if you're somebody that wins the Super Bowl. So, Myron, for me, Jalen hurts a solid number five and the head of a second tier group of quarterbacks.
Myron Metcalf
Yeah, I mean, I like that pick again, I think they're probably what, maybe five, six guys you could put in that spot who are probably in contention. Winning a Super bowl over my homes I think gives him the nine in that category.
Matt Jones
I think it starts to get really hard. At number four. I'm gonna put Joe Burrow at number four only because he hasn't made the playoffs in the last two years. If he makes the playoffs, I'm probably going to put him higher there. I think if you look at raw ability, Joe Burrow is higher than number four. But they haven't made the playoffs. I don't blame that on him. Lost a lot of close games last year and the year before he got hurt, but I'm going to need to see him do it. What I think is so amazing about Joe Burrow is his ability to win early in his career without a good offensive line. He's had weapons with Jamar Chase and T. Higgins, but he has not had an offensive line. He's got. He's gotten beat up throughout his career, but he still gets up, he still comes back, he still makes plays. And in terms of being a smart quarterback, Joe Burrow might be the smartest one in the league right now. So Joe Burrow, for me, Myron is at number four.
Myron Metcalf
I like that. I mean, again, you look at just the numbers he put up, MVP numbers. His team just wasn't a playoff team for the reasons that you just listed off. But certainly in that class of one of the three or four best quarterbacks in the entire NFL.
Matt Jones
Number three. Oh, okay. Yeah. So I knew that Joe Burrow guy.
Myron Metcalf
Trying to move us. It's just like the Oscar.
Matt Jones
All right, so number three. Number three. This is where Myron and I finally deviate. I'm going to put Lamar Jackson at number three. First of all, I watched Lamar Jackson play since he was a freshman in college at Louisville. He is one of, if not my favorite players. And Myron Metcalf, wouldn't you agree? When everyone on ESPN was saying the man couldn't be a quarterback, I looked at Dan Orlovsky and said, this dude's awesome. And he mocked me. And I've ended up being proven correct on that.
Myron Metcalf
Now you've been a Lamar guy from the beginning.
Matt Jones
I'm a Lamar guy from the beginning, which is crazy because I'm a Kentucky fan and he's a Louisville guy. So I love Lamar. Lamar has talent the likes of which we've never seen. His ability to move and run and throw is amazing. But at the end of the day, you got to win and you got to win at a secondary level for me to name you the best quarterback. So I'm going to put him number three. If he had the weapons and the consistency of the Chiefs organization, would he be able to win? Maybe. But for me he's at number three. Even though if you're just talking about a special talent. There is nobody, Myron, that I've ever seen play football better than Lamar Jackson and Mark Stoops who coached at Florida State and Miami when Florida State, Miami were Florida State. Miami is a coach at Kentucky. And he said to me, I've been in college football for 30 years and never been a player better than Lamar Jackson. Which I think is pretty high praise.
Myron Metcalf
Yeah, I mean he's special man. A lot of people think he should have had his third MVP last year over Josh Allen. The numbers have been ridiculous. I understand when people look at the postseason results, that's probably the playoffs biggestly holding.
Matt Jones
I mean that's ultimately what, that's ultimately what keeps him from being there. Number two. For me, you can't pick Josh Allen number one until he wins the game. That makes him number one and it hasn't happened yet. Josh Allen, great arm strength. Another guy that Myron can tell you I believed in when Dan Orlovsky did not. You watched. I used to watch his late night games at Wyoming. He was a, he's a special talent. But until he gets one of these games in an AFC championship, I'm going to have to take him one notch down. But at number two, Josh Allen, in my opinion is the best pure talent quarterback in the league. But until the game is won, he will remain at number two. But a special, special player, Myron, they.
Myron Metcalf
Got to play the number two. You guys didn't play the number two. You got to play the number two. There we go.
Matt Jones
Yes.
Myron Metcalf
Yeah. I mean mvp and I think last year was a big maybe wake up call for some people who may not have believed. I mean he lost some key pieces and still managed to play at this level the last couple of years. So I don't see how you can do anything but respect Josh Allen on the field. Considering where he was coming out of Wyoming to what he's become.
Matt Jones
He does. He did play at Wyoming. Ugliest uniforms in all.
Myron Metcalf
Yeah, they weren't the Cowboys. Yeah, they weren't there.
Matt Jones
I mean the brown and yellow is the most unattractive color scheme that sports has ever produced. And if I was my Wyoming, I would try to get colors that don't make me think of dirt and urine. What's the next number one and the number one quarterback in all the NFL? I think it's malpractice if you pick anybody other than Patrick Mahomes. Last year he had no weapons. I mean a depleted receiving core, depleted offensive line. Travis Kelsey is not quite the Travis Kelsey of two years ago. And he still goes to the super bowl and still has a chance to win a championship. He's already won three, he's been to five Super Bowls and he still has another six to 10 years of talent left in him. I think Kansas City is going to be even better this year than they were last year. Their 11 and oh record in one score games may not repeat itself, but the talent level and on the team is better. And to me, until Patrick Mahomes is consistently defeated, he will always be number one on my list.
Myron Metcalf
Yeah, I mean, hard to argue, you know, I mean the, the posting success, I think the greatest quarterback of this generation. But I also think there were years where there were guys who were playing better than Brady. They weren't going to be greater than.
Matt Jones
But would you have ranked them of ahead of Brady? Like, yeah, Brady is the number one guy for like 12 straight years.
Myron Metcalf
No way. There were years where Peyton Manning and Aaron Rodgers and other guys were better than Brady.
Matt Jones
So if we were doing this list, you would have picked Peyton Manning?
Myron Metcalf
If we're doing a season by season list, there were certainly years where Peyton Manning I think was playing better than Brady and Aaron Rodgers playing better than. There were some years like that for sure.
Matt Jones
But this isn't an MVP list. This is a who are the best quarterbacks right now? To me, best quarterbacks is a longer term question. It's not just about one year because if it is, that's just the MVP award. This is the best.
Myron Metcalf
Okay, I thought ESPN radio said this was my list and then you had your own list or did we, Did I miss that part or what was the, what was the criteria, Rachel? Did I miss that part or.
Rachel
I did say that you had your own list.
Myron Metcalf
I have my own list. Right. Okay.
Rachel
I was not excited about.
Myron Metcalf
Matt had his own list. That's what I, that's what I thought you said. But maybe, maybe it's not that.
Rachel
Okay, so also we're talking about a fake list anyway from back in the past. You could have just one list.
Matt Jones
Yeah, I still will stand by Patrick Mahomes and I will. I mean, to me, if you're going to put the all time greatest quarterback list, he's probably number two on it right now. So if he's number two on it right now, then he has to be number one on my current list. So Myron, thank you very much for playing that game. Once again, I defeated you in best list. ESPN Radio is presented by Progressive Insurance. Cars, homes, boats, motorcycles, RVs and more. Matt Jones
Yes, we are dropping it like it is a little bit above mild. On Amber and Ian, presented by Progressive Insurance. It is Matt and Myron right here. Matt Jones, Myron Metcalf. We're going to play Big Deal. No Deal. But I want to. We just had a caller call in. Myron, this is kind of exciting. You may remember it was a number of years ago when you and I were doing a show and someone called in and said they thought that I, when I got excited, sounded like Doofenshmirtz from Phineas and Ferb. Do you remember that?
Myron Metcalf
I remember that, yep.
Matt Jones
And because when, when I get excited, I'm like Myron, you know, and then people think that that sounds a little bit like Doofenshmirtz. And the guy that said it is Andy in Mississippi. And we haven't heard from Andy since he said that. It led to a lot of stuff over the years, including people on my local show calling me Doofenshmirtz. Some get excited and people go, your Doofenshmirtz is coming out. And then we even had the creators of Phineas and Ferb come on the show to do and tell me whether or not I sounded like Doofenshmirtz. Well, the person who started all that, Andy in Mississippi, I guess, was listening tonight, heard our voice and decided to call in. And he's on the phone. And Andy, first of all, how are you doing? I'm doing good. How are you guys?
Myron Metcalf
Doing good?
Matt Jones
Doing good. You know, you said this. How many years ago was that? I like to. Maybe year and a half, two years ago. Okay, two years ago. Did you know that since then that's kind of become a thing since you said that? I did not. And then the young lady that took my call, Rachel, maybe not that the gentleman that did the actual voice had contacted you guys. And yes, he basically was pretty cool day. Yeah, it was. He basically had me say, what is the line? The Perry the Platypus. That line. He had me say that to. I do impressions also. So I just.
Myron Metcalf
Oh, is that why you were into it?
Matt Jones
Oh, you do impressions? What do you. Okay, who do you do, boy? Hey there, feller. You can go tractor tipping right there. I tell you what.
Myron Metcalf
Oh, the cable guy. Larry the cable guy. Okay.
Matt Jones
And we got a little Manny and Sid from Ice Age. Hey, hey, Sid. What's going on? Seriously? This is crazy. Can I ask you a question? Can I ask you a question, Andy, real quick? Andy, when you say you do impressions, do you mean like as a job or you just like to do them for fun? No. When I was grounded as a little kid, I would put on my jam box with a cassette tape and my first impression ever was Droopy the dog. Do you remember that? Okay, I understand. I mean, we don't have to do more impressions. I'm just, I'm. I'm just asking you. Like you said that. Like, you said that like it was your job. Yeah, you said it, though, like it was your full time job. You said, I do impressions.
Myron Metcalf
You said that like it was the opening scene of your documentary.
Matt Jones
Well, I may have one after that. Okay, well, I think you should. Now, where in Mississippi do you live, Andy? Lawrence.
Myron Metcalf
Is that near Tupelo?
Matt Jones
Are you always. He always. Seven miles. Every time we have someone from seven miles. That's what I thought.
Myron Metcalf
It's seven. It's near Tupelo, right?
Matt Jones
No, no, it's seven miles south of Jackson. I'm sorry, which is not Tupelo.
Myron Metcalf
Yeah, yeah.
Matt Jones
Every time we have someone from Mississippi, Myron goes, is it close to Tupelo? Like that's the only town he knows in Mississippi. You know, you know who was, you know who's from Tupelo, right?
Myron Metcalf
Elvis. I've been at a house.
Matt Jones
Elvis Presley, baby. Okay, well then hang on before you go. Everybody hang on just a second. Before you go, since you are an impressionist.
Myron Metcalf
Yeah.
Matt Jones
Give us a little Elvis creepy slayer fool. Remini Cruel. Andy, thank you very much for your call and thank you for starting the Doofenshmirtz thing many years ago. I think, I think you're starting that trend with Doofenshmirtz is a little better than your impressions, but nice blast from the past there.
Myron Metcalf
That was the generic brand Elvis, the great value brand.
Matt Jones
That was Temu Elvis. That's why we. That's why we're slap. We're slapping terrorists to keep. We're slapping tariffs on to keep Elvis impressions like that.
Myron Metcalf
That was Purvis Presley, his fourth cousin on his.
Matt Jones
That's right, Pelvis Presley. All right, let's. It's time to play Big deal, no deal.
Myron Metcalf
It's making headlines.
Matt Jones
Extra, extra. Read all about it.
Myron Metcalf
Is it a big deal or not a big deal?
Matt Jones
With Amber in the end. All right, what's up first? Rachel.
Rachel
Hi, Matt. How's it going?
Matt Jones
Doing good, doing good.
Myron Metcalf
Why did you say it like you just met him?
Matt Jones
Yeah, we've been talking all night.
Rachel
Because I gotta make sure that he, he realizes he's supposed to introduce me every time. That's okay. Anyway, moving on to Big deal, not a big deal. Not no deal.
Myron Metcalf
No, it's big deal. No big deal.
Rachel
No, it's not a big deal. Everything's a deal. There's no deal. Anyway, where. Where did we want Levis? Tennessee Titans quarterback Will Levis is going to miss the entire 2025 season after electing to undergo surgery on his right shoulder. He entered that back in 2024. Rookie quarterback Cam Ward is going to be taking first team reps in training camp, maybe backed up by Brandon Allen. The Titans did express support for Levis, prioritizing his long term health. Matt, you love Will Levis. Big deal. Not a big deal.
Matt Jones
I mean, it's a big deal. He's missing the year. What I don't understand, and I'm a Will Levis guy, obviously he played at Kentucky and I like him quite a bit. It seems weird to me, to wait the entire off season and do nothing and then have surgery at the end of July, that seems really odd to me. I sort of read it as the Titans have told him, he's not going to play this year anyway. Yeah, that. And that, you know, he wants to kind of reset his football career. He probably thinks his time in Tennessee is over regardless. So get the surgery. It also means they can't cut him, and then he can regroup and find a team next year. Myron, that's how I read it. How do you read it?
Myron Metcalf
No, I read it the same way. I mean, if he's been playing hurt since October of last year, that doesn't feel like a great career move. You know, Like, I always feel like young athletes should get that stuff done right away. You know what I mean? And you still got time to recuperate, to bounce back. So to let it linger to this stage is a bit odd. But I think your explanation makes sense. I think they told him we're probably moving on, get healthy so you can play with another team next year.
Matt Jones
And, you know, it's always interesting to me with people like Levis, and I think about this with another former Kentucky quarterback years ago, Tim Couch. Guys who get drafted to teams that cannot protect them early in their career.
Myron Metcalf
Yeah.
Matt Jones
I just wonder if it would be different if they went somewhere else. You know, I. I wonder with guys like him who. Maybe he's not the top talent, but could he be good if he didn't go to the worst team in football? It's hard to know. And you got to worry about the same thing with Cam Ward now, too. Right. Like, you got to worry about what happens to these guys that get drafted at teams that can't protect them. We'll see. Hopefully things are better for Cam than they were for Will. What's next?
Rachel
All right, this one is for Myron because he was so invested in Megan V. Stallion and Klay Thompson's relationship. Did you hear what Shaq had to say about it?
Myron Metcalf
What Shaq said?
Rachel
So Shaq was on his. Was on a recent podcast of the big podcast with Shaq because, you know, he has a podcast we can find. The co host brought up the new relationship. He didn't have a lot to say, wasn't very impressed and said six weeks. That's it. Just six weeks. He put a time on it, doubled down without hesitation. Six weeks. Doesn't expect it to make it to the next NBA season. Myron. Big deal. Not a big deal. That Shaq is not a fan Not a big deal.
Myron Metcalf
What are we at the high school cafeteria table? Like, what are we putting a timeline on their relationship? I always find it odd that people care that much about somebody else's relationship. And it's usually. And listen, all respect to Shaq, but he's been pretty open about this. It's usually people who haven't had a ton of success in relationships who like to tell everybody else about what's going to work. Hey, this is coming from a divorce guy. So whatever. You know what I mean? Put me on the list, too. But I just think we got to stay away from people's relationships. All you got to say is, congrats to Clay. Congrats to Meg the Stallion. Let's hope for the best. That's all. We. We don't have to comment on how long it's going to last.
Matt Jones
I don't. Yeah. I don't know. I mean, I said, why is it weird they date? Like, I feel like musicians and basketball players date. Why is. Why are people acting like it's strange that is it that Clay seems.
Myron Metcalf
I think it's jealousy more honestly. That's what I think. I think it's.
Matt Jones
You think Shaq wishes he was with Megan?
Myron Metcalf
I'm not going to say that, but I think it's a lot of people who, you know, if. If Megan thee Stallion had asked them out on the date, I think they.
Matt Jones
Would say, yeah, I wish them the best.
Myron Metcalf
I think that's all.
Matt Jones
I think Clay the Stallion would be a good. Would be a good name.
Myron Metcalf
I don't know about that.
Matt Jones
Well, I think they should get married, and I think he should be Clay the Stallion. I think it would work. I think it would work out well. What's next?
Rachel
All right. We talked about the new baseball NASCAR uniforms, but they were the only uniforms that got unveiled today. The Pittsburgh Steelers unveiled their new old throwback uniforms. They're based on the 1933 Pittsburgh Pirates. They have a matte gold helmet, which I think is the only good part about this. They have 1933 jersey stripes. It's like black stripes with a pattern. They have the numeral block numbers. They have the city crest, which is kind of cool. But my biggest thing is they're wearing khaki pants.
Matt Jones
Yeah, I'm looking at them right now. I actually. I kind of disagree with you. I think they're kind of cool.
Rachel
I mean, not learn from the khaki pants from the Giants. The other. Yeah, they're like. They're khaki colored pants.
Matt Jones
I don't think they're khaki. But I do think that I like, I think the Steelers yellow as opposed to the Wyoming yellow is actually very nice. You know, I like the throwback crossing teams, Pirates and Steelers. So I'm going to give this. I'm going to give this a positive. I think if I was a Pittsburgh fan, Myron, I would go with this.
Myron Metcalf
Yeah. I mean, I don't know. It's fine.
Rachel
They're better than the bumblebees.
Myron Metcalf
It's nothing. It's nothing. Incredible.
Matt Jones
I do like that. I do like that helmet, though. I think that helmet actually looks cool. All right, what's the final one?
Rachel
All right, this is the final one. I just scrolled away from it. Thank you. All right. In celebration of the upcoming Netflix release, Happy Gilmore to Odyssey, Golf has introduced a limited edition replica of the iconic hockey stick putter that was featured in the original. It's priced at499.99 dollars. It's designed for the Happy Gilmore slap shot putting style. That's not just it, though. They also released a special edition of Chrome Tour golf balls adorned with memorable quotes and designs from the movie, available for 49.99 now. And in case you were wondering if you could use this on the PGA Tour against Scottie Scheffler, no, it is for memorial purposes only.
Matt Jones
Yeah, I don't, I don't know about the, the, the actual, you know, $499 slapstick, but I will say I'm excited about this movie. I mean, I love Tappy Gilmore. There are a lot of athletes in this movie. I mean, like, a lot, A lot of golfers, Travis Kelsey, a lot of football players. The wrestler MJF plays Adam Sandler. Son, are you looking forward to Happy Gilmore 2 coming out on Friday?
Myron Metcalf
Yeah. And I wish there were more things you could buy from some of these iconic movies. Right. Like, I mean, I think it's a cool idea, this, this hockey stick putter. I hope it's good because clearly Hollywood isn't coming up with, like, new ideas. They're just kind of remaking all these old movies because they know we're the only people going to movie theaters. I just hope it's good.
Matt Jones
Well, this isn't in the movie theater.
Myron Metcalf
I know. It's. I know, but it's, it's still Hollywood. It's just, I hope it's a good movie.
Matt Jones
That's like the oldest man thing you've ever said. My only worry, old man, my only worry is when Adam Sandler has put out Netflix movies and he's put out a bunch of them. Yes, they've been pretty awful, except for uncut gems. But a lot of their movies, like, I love Adam Sandler, love Happy Gilmore. I love Billy Madison, Funny people, you know, Big Daddy, I've loved all those. But once he started putting the movies out on Netflix, they are kind of terrible. But I want this movie to be good. The previews to me leave me a little suspect, but I'm gonna watch it either way. Huge Adam Sandler fan. I have a friend who's an actor who told me he's acting like 90 movies, and he told me Adam Sandler movies are the best movies to act on because he treats people better than anyone in Hollywood by far. So I'm rooting for Adam Sandler, and I hope it's good. Myron.
Myron Metcalf
Yeah, now people say good things about him. I like that he just, like, shows up to random basketball courts still and just, like, gets.
Matt Jones
And can hoop.
Myron Metcalf
The sandman can hoop, but just, like, gets in random pickup runs with, like, kids who are like, who is this dude? You know? So that's pretty cool.
Matt Jones
Yeah, it's very cool. He's. He put. He made. He's made a zillion dollars. He makes movies, he puts his friends in them, and they seem to have fun. So I hope it ends up being good. That's your big deal or not a big deal? I still think it should be a big deal. No deal. But either way, we will do that and more. Finish things up. The We Are D3TBT team leads Bayheim's army by four. It is Amber Nian here on ESPN radio, fun night with Meyer Metcalf. We will be here tomorrow night from 7 to 10. We will be here Wednesday night from 7 to 10. And throughout this entire time, we will take, you know, tomorrow probably take some calls. I'd love to talk to the. To the audience a little bit. Myron. We didn't get to do that much tonight. You and I like to like to do that. I'm going to play a quick game with you, Myron, called biggest loser of the day. Okay, so this is where we determine who made the biggest decision that was the biggest loser move of the day. Here are going to be today's nominee, number one, Jerry Jones, for his comment that Micah Parsons could get hit by a car and that he here. Well, let's play it right here. This is Mike. Jerry Jones saying a lot can happen with contracts and this is why he might not want to resign. Michael Parsons contracts are four or five years.
Myron Metcalf
Okay.
Matt Jones
There's a lot of water under the bridge. If you step out there and do something in the first two or three, you can get hit by a car. Sicily. And so there's a lot to look at over a lot of years that could make a big difference. Have you ever heard of any clubs committing to players and then they didn't.
Myron Metcalf
Pan out after they committed to them?
Matt Jones
We have. So that said, there's Jerry Jones.
Myron Metcalf
He makes it sound like people are trying to get hit by cars. I know that's how he talks about it.
Matt Jones
Our contender number two is Mike Brown, the Bengals owner.
Myron Metcalf
Okay.
Matt Jones
Who had this to say about his contract dispute with Shemar Stewart, the first round pick of the Bengals. There is no dispute over the money. It's just a dispute in his mind that I guess if he did something that really deserved punishment, that he would want the whole contract guaranteed. And we would want to say, well.
Myron Metcalf
It isn't guaranteed if you, if you.
Matt Jones
Did something to that level. In that case, we would step in and take away the guarantee. Doesn't mean that we couldn't agree to pay it, but we wouldn't be forced to pay it. I don't want to pay somebody who hypothetically could be in jail for four years at this level of pay. And do I think any of that's going to happen? No. And that's why use the word foolishness. It's in my mind at that level, we want to get it done. We want to get him in here and working. He's a good young guy. There you go. Says, no foolishness, and he's not going to pay. Shemar Stewart, to, quote, sit in jail. That is your contender number two for loser of the week or loser of the night. The number three just happened a few moments ago. The Boston Red Sox lost to the Philadelphia Phillies in extra innings when catcher Carlos Narvaez was called for catcher interference. He stuck his glove out to catch a pitch, and the batter for the Phillies hit his glove. It was catcher interference. The bases were loaded, and thus the Phillies scored and won. Carlos Narvaez is contender number three. So, Jerry Jones, Mike Brown, and Carlos Narvaez, who is your pick? Myron, for loser of the week. I mean, Jerry, turn that music down. I feel like. I feel like there's an orchestra playing in my ear. All right. That's the whole point, though. It's supposed to be in the background. It was a little loud, though. I felt like. Felt like I was, like, in the Boston Orchestra tuba section.
Myron Metcalf
Are you that person already?
Matt Jones
Yeah. I don't know. Just.
Rachel
Fireworks near him.
Matt Jones
I don't know what it was. It was like, okay, so go ahead. Who's the loser of the. Of the night?
Myron Metcalf
Strong contenders, right? I mean, you got one owner saying, you know what? Sometimes guys decide to get hit by cars. Another one saying, I'm not paying a guy in prison. I don't know why he's going to prison. But that's. Those are both interesting because the players are on the teams, you know, right now.
Matt Jones
And then a player made a play that was the first catcher interference loss.
Myron Metcalf
Since 1971, and that's my loser of the day. I mean, the other two situations could be resolved tomorrow for all we know, right? You can't do anything about catcher interference and losing the game on behalf of your team. So, you know, I feel like that's. That's my loser of the day. Even though it wasn't intentional, it's still something that never happens in tonight. It did.
Matt Jones
1971 is the last time there was a catcher interference walk off. And we get it tonight, so you at least got to see history. I'm going to pick Jerry Jones just because I think there's a decent argument Jerry Jones could be loser of the day every day. And so when I get a chance to actually. When I get a chance to actually pick him, I'm not a Cowboys fan, but if I were a Cowboys fan, Jerry Jones would drive me absolutely insane that they have to deal with things like this and to antagonize one of your two best players and then in the process antagonize the other one too for getting injured. I don't get it. To me, that makes him loser of the day. Myron, a lot of fun tonight.
Myron Metcalf
Yeah, man, fun. Well, good.
Matt Jones
I thought you would have more to say than that, but nevertheless, now we're.
Myron Metcalf
Doing more shows and now I got last show.
Matt Jones
I know, but we're about to go off the air tonight, so I will say with more heartfelt happiness than you, it was a lot of fun. Thank you all very much for listening. Game night with Emmett and Zeno is next.

Sunday Mornings with Matt and Myron – Episode: Hour 3: Myron Goes to NASCAR
Release Date: July 22, 2025
Hosts: Matt Jones and Myron Metcalf
Platform: ESPN Radio
In the third hour of "Sunday Mornings with Matt and Myron," the dynamic duo delves deep into the sports world, addressing listener comments, sharing personal experiences, debating NFL quarterback rankings, and exploring the intersection of different sports such as NASCAR and baseball. This episode, titled "Myron Goes to NASCAR," offers a blend of insightful analysis, humorous banter, and engaging segments that cater to sports enthusiasts and casual listeners alike.
The hour kicks off with Matt responding to a listener's comment about Myron ranking Lamar Jackson as his top quarterback. Matt skeptically asks:
Matt Jones [01:31]: "One person on here writes and says, Myron put Lamar Jackson as his number one quarterback. I would say to Myron, has he ever watched a football game in his life?"
Myron defends his ranking, emphasizing his experience:
Myron Metcalf [01:52]: "Have I ever watched a football game? Yes, I've watched many football games. So I don't, I never understand why that's always the pushback."
This exchange sets the tone for an engaging debate on quarterback performances and rankings.
The conversation shifts to bucket lists, with Matt challenging Myron's seemingly endless list of aspirations. Myron emphasizes the limitless nature of bucket lists:
Myron Metcalf [02:25]: "It's as long as it needs to be. It's a bucket list. There's no limitations on a bucket list."
Matt shares his proactive approach to accomplishing his goals:
Matt Jones [02:41]: "I do most of the things I want. I'm gonna go do it. I'm not gonna sit and just put it on a bucket list and then never go do it."
The discussion naturally transitions to NASCAR, aligning with the episode's title. Matt recounts a memorable NASCAR experience at Martinsville Raceway:
Matt Jones [06:26]: "I had a friend from Australia that I took to a race in Martinsville... he looked at me and he goes, mate, Martinsville 500. He was like, I think it should be like the Martinsville 200."
Myron shares his apprehensions about attending NASCAR events alone, leading to a humorous exchange about ensuring he doesn't get lost at the race:
Myron Metcalf [06:36]: "I am not getting lost."
Matt assures Myron with practical solutions:
Matt Jones [06:45]: "We'll use Life360 or an air tag. We'll make sure you don't get lost."
They fondly reminisce about parking challenges at Martinsville, highlighting the unique strategy of arriving early to secure the best spots:
Matt Jones [07:20]: "I'm big on parking, so I like to get in and get out."
The segment provides listeners with a light-hearted look into the logistics and experiences of attending NASCAR races.
A significant portion of the hour is dedicated to ranking the top five NFL quarterbacks. Both hosts present their perspectives, leading to a spirited debate.
Matt's Top Five:
Notable Exchange:
Matt Jones [19:13]: "But would you have ranked them ahead of Brady? Like, yeah, Brady is the number one guy for like 12 straight years."
Myron Metcalf [19:26]: "No way. There were years where Peyton Manning and Aaron Rodgers and other guys were better than Brady."
The debate highlights differing criteria for ranking, such as championship successes versus individual talent and performance consistency.
Adding a fun twist to the episode, a listener named Andy from Mississippi calls in to address Matt's resemblance to the character Doofenshmirtz from "Phineas and Ferb." The hosts engage in playful banter, incorporating impressions and reminiscing about past interactions with listeners.
Andy’s Impression:
Matt Jones [24:31]: "Oh, the cable guy. Larry the cable guy."
Andy: [Performs a short impression]

In the "Big Deal, No Deal" segment, Matt and Myron discuss recent sports news, weighing the significance of each event.

Rachel [33:13]: "They have the cowboy style but he caused a game-ending play."
Determination:
Myron Metcalf [42:08]: "Since 1971, and that's my loser of the day."
Ultimately, they crown Carlos Narvaez as the "Biggest Loser of the Day" for his unprecedented impact on the game's outcome.
