We had a good first two hours talking a little NCAA tournament weather Hammer, you know, all the topics that you would expect. Phone lines are full of people. We're going to get to them here in just a minute. But Myron, the baseball season started on Thursday. Have you, you know, my team is the Reds. We opened up one and one. I went on opening day, we blew the game to the Giants at the end. Ian Jabot allowed four runs in the ninth inning. But we came back and won yesterday. I'm going today. Are you excited for the summer of Ellie De La Cruz?
Myron Metcalf
I'm excited for hearing you talk about him every time we have a show. I will say he's clearly, he's clearly becoming more of a personality. Yeah, I mean, you know, he's English has improved a lot. Like he seems to be having a lot of fun. Obviously the Yankees hit a million home runs off the brewers the other night. How does a casual fan though from a mid sized market get excited about the season? When you watch what the Dodgers have done, when you watch what the Yankees are able to do, when you watch the Mets be able to give Juan so 600 million.
Matt Jones
All right, I got Ellie De La Cruz.
Myron Metcalf
But it's not about fair though.
Matt Jones
Soto, I got Wayne. Yeah, okay.
Myron Metcalf
But to your team and my team, we're similar in that we are in that same situation of trying to break out of the middle of the pack.
Matt Jones
If you everything is not about winning. Some things are about character.
Myron Metcalf
And Bill, you sound like a Reds fan. All right. There. That's definitely, that's what happens after you follow the Reds for a couple years. You go, yeah, you know what, winning isn't everything. Yeah.
Matt Jones
Okay. I will say to the Reds if you, if you're listening, people from the Reds meet, they have a new thing. Byron between innings, you know how they'll try to Give you like little entertainment stuff. Yeah, they have a game where they just pick out random fans and see if they can chip a plastic wiffle ball into a hole. And I've now been to two games. No one has gotten it within 10 yards of the hole. And it's because it looks to be impossible. And it is the most boring game I've ever seen. Dear Reds, Dear Reds, people getting strangers to hit a plastic golf ball is not entertainment. Get somebody up there and have them look like, you know, pour mustard on their head or something like that. That's way too high end. I'm going to use this stage, Myron, to complain about that.
Myron Metcalf
Wait a minute. So instead of having somebody try to hit a ball into a hole, you want someone to just walk into the stands with a jar of mustard?
Matt Jones
I think it would be funny.
Myron Metcalf
Well, let me ask you what my head. I would never come back to your facility ever again. And I'm suing. I'm suing everybody.
Matt Jones
Let me ask you, what do you think are the best jumbotron things? Okay. For me, my two favorite.
Myron Metcalf
Let's go back to how your idea to make things better was.
Matt Jones
I like it. Mustard on your head. It's good. Let me give you my three favorite jumbotron thing. Number one.
Myron Metcalf
Okay.
Matt Jones
I like when they put people on and make them kiss. Right? Like I love the kiss cam. It's usually awkward. It's usually awkward. Sometimes they'll put old people on there and then there's. Sometimes they put people that are clearly friends. They don't are on a first date. I think the watching the kiss cam always makes me happy. Second UK games, they do this thing called the snack word scam. When you eat food, they run it backwards and they can see you taking the food out of your mouth. It's gross, but for some reason it's really entertaining. I don't know if they do that anywhere else, but they do it at UK games. I think it's great. And then the third thing is I like the look alikes when they show somebody in the crowd and show a famous person that they look alike because sometimes it's kind of mean to be honest with you. But I always enjoy that. So those are three things I enjoy on the jumbotron much better than somebody chipping a plastic golf ball. And I would enjoy if people poured mustard on their head. I think that would be funny as well. Myron.
Myron Metcalf
They never put black people on those look alike things. They don't put black people on the look like because you know Somebody in HR is like, listen, don't. Don't say that dude looks like Morgan Freeman.
Matt Jones
I mean, they better look exactly like Morgan Freeman. Like, it better be Morgan Freeman's twin brother. You're gonna put him on there.
Myron Metcalf
Yeah. Don't even. But I always look at that seven. Hold on. There are no black people in this look alike. Because you could tell this. You could tell they had a meeting about who they weren't gonna put on the jumbotron and the lookalike portion. So, I mean, you always see that.
Matt Jones
They look at those social media interns and they go, all right, listen, do not be saying that's Carl Weathers. That is not Carl Weathers.
Myron Metcalf
You know, there's some 21 year old up there being like, what do you mean they don't look like Martin Lawrence? You know, I mean, like, it's just like, like, don't, don't just. You don't. You don't want to be in that Monday meeting.
Matt Jones
That's true.
Myron Metcalf
When you tried to compare somebody, right. The kiss cam, to me, I never know the situation. It always feels forced, but.
Matt Jones
Because you can tell when people don't want to kiss, but they kind of feel like they need to kiss. And it's like, you know, it's kind of. There's always a couple that gets too into it and they bring their tongues out. And you, like, you. You know, it's a lot of pressure.
Myron Metcalf
I don't like the pressure. I. I would support a federal ban on jumbotron proposals. Like, I think you're going to propose to someone. Don't bring us in it. I think it's. It's unfair to everybody involved. Would that person have said yes without this whole thing? We don't know the answer to that, but leave us out of your proposal. I don't know you. I've never met you before. Why do I have to participate in this? So I was walking down the street.
Matt Jones
I was walking down the street, like, this is like two months ago in New York City.
Myron Metcalf
Yeah.
Matt Jones
And I was walking through Washington Square and somebody like, I just walked into a proposal and, you know, when somebody sees it coming, then people kind of circle around them. So everybody circled around them. And I was standing there. And then after they propose and she says yes, we all have to clap, even though we don't know these people. And then this woman goes, okay, everybody gather around. And I think they meant their friends, but I just got in a picture, too.
Myron Metcalf
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Matt Jones
They invited me so that I'm gonna be the guy One day when they look at their proposal picture.
Myron Metcalf
Yep.
Matt Jones
They're gonna just see me standing there and I'm gonna be like, hello, everybody. Glad to be here.
Myron Metcalf
You brought me into it. I'll jump into a picture. But you searched also don't know the situation.
Matt Jones
I haven't searched it, but I. Because I didn't know who the people.
Myron Metcalf
Were, I'm gonna have to try to.
Matt Jones
Yeah. Mo is in North Carolina. Go ahead, Mo. Music without the band that stabbed Grunge in the heart with a happy melody. Homie and the Goldfish. I don't even know what you're talking about.
Myron Metcalf
What did he just say? All I heard was somebody getting stabbed in the heart.
Matt Jones
90S music. You can't talk about 90s music without mentioning Homie and the Goldfish. Because I think that certainly can mention Homie and the Gold.
Myron Metcalf
I've never heard of that.
Matt Jones
I think you made that name up. There's nothing called Homie and the Goldfish. That would be Hootie and the Blowfish. Guys, come on. Hey, look, I'm calling because.
Myron Metcalf
Listen, let us do the jokes. Hold on a second. Hold on, hold on. Let us do the jokes. You caught up here with your own jokes. You know what I mean? Let us do the jokes. We can handle the jokes.
Matt Jones
To see if Matt would be willing to give up his rough rafters screen name. Because I feel like I'm locked in. Nobody knows what you're talking about. Mo, I appreciate you, man. Like, you're. You're. You're talking.
Myron Metcalf
What is it, 12 o'clock right now? How long have you been. Because what are we talking about now?
Matt Jones
Let's go to Craig in Ohio. How are you, Craig, man?
Myron Metcalf
Better than. Oh, boy, that was just on. So. Can't get much worse.
Matt Jones
I appreciate you guys. You guys get me through the job I got.
Myron Metcalf
Yeah, I said. I said it couldn't get much worse. And then this dude does that. What's happening?
Matt Jones
Listen. What is happening? I think that was going to be a good call. But, Craig, you cannot cuss on national airwaves. They don't let you do that.
Myron Metcalf
What is going on?
Matt Jones
I don't know. We'll try. I think we got a better one. Leyland in Toronto. Leland or Leland? Hey, gentlemen, it's Leland. I will not cuss. I promise.
Myron Metcalf
Thank you.
Matt Jones
I gotta. I gotta push back a little bit on that federal ban on the proposals on the jumbotron. I proposed to my wife at Fenway park on the. On the big screen on the second last day of the season. I Don't know. Right before David Ortiz's last final game. And so my theory generally is that women pretty much get to pick everything about the wedding, and it's the one thing. So the proposal is the one thing that the husband gets to be in charge of or the. Would be. Can I ask you a question about it? Because I've always wondered this. Absolutely. How did you get to do it? Like, did you just call up the Red Sox and say, I wanted to do it? Did you have to pay for it? Like, how did you get to be on the Red Sox to do the proposal? So. So my uncle. He was a long time. He's in the Red Sox hall of Fame. And basically, I wanted to propose on the field, but I didn't want to have to play tag along with my uncle to get access to places. So I just kind of emailed, I don't know, like, their.
Myron Metcalf
Their.
Matt Jones
Their guest services department or whatever, and I was like, hey, this is a situation I want to propose on. On the field at some point before or after a game. Can you make that happen?
Myron Metcalf
Yeah, but.
Matt Jones
And then you say, here's the thing.
Myron Metcalf
And I say this. I say this with respect. I say this with respect. You could have proposed to her on the way into the game. Right. And it's still at the game. It's still Fenway.
Matt Jones
Did they put you on the big screen? Yeah. So one of the great things is, is that they have the videographer. Right. So we have the video of that as well. So that's one of the great things. My wife hated every second. So you were on the field? You were actually on the field? No, no, we were up in, like, the Budweiser section. We won some little fake kid contest to get us up there to make it seem like we're winning some contests. And then I proposed. Oh, well, good for you. All right, well, listen, think it's sweet. It's romantic. Don't let Myron. Don't let Myron hate on you and see your marriage is working. I appreciate the call, Myron. It looks like that was a good decision.
Myron Metcalf
I'm glad. I'm glad it worked out. But can you imagine being in that section and you're just watching a game and all of a sudden this whole thing breaks out?
Matt Jones
Why are you such a hater of people getting married? Like, it's sweet.
Myron Metcalf
I have nothing against it. I'm just saying the public jumbotron proposal and even these people who do it, like, in the middle of the street and they do this, like, where do you want.
Matt Jones
You just want people to get engaged in a dark room somewhere without anyone there.
Myron Metcalf
Like, the old school way was like going to, like, you know, the park. Or maybe you just said you didn't.
Matt Jones
Want it to be in a park.
Myron Metcalf
Yeah, but no, the Jumbotron's different. That. That's a. That's a lot is all I'm saying. Okay, that's a lot.
Matt Jones
Sounds like you're Anti Love. A national championship winning coach thinks Travis Hunter should go number one overall. We'll talk about that. And, you know, whatever else happens to come up with Mr. Anti Love, Myron Metcalf and me, the person who appreciates the beauty of romance. This is Sunday Morning with Matt, Myron.
Myron Metcalf
Matt and Myron. The pod.

Hootie and the Blowfish is like a classic 90s song. You like to laugh at me when I look at her. Yeah.
Myron Metcalf
This was that era where if you were black and you found the right group of white dudes to back you, you could tour the world, man.
Matt Jones
I don't want to be with you. My favorite thing about this would be Darius Rucker would do interviews where he'd Be like, I'm not Hootie. Why does everybody call me Hootie? It's like, cause you named the band Hootie the Blowfish. The natural reaction was gonna be, people thought your name was gonna be Hootie. And he would get really mad and be like, it's not Hootie. And then he would. But then he would call the band the Blowfish. And I'd be like, if they're the Blowfish, how are you not Hootie?
Myron Metcalf
You can't have it both ways. I was always surprised by that. Like, why are you surprised that we assume you are Hootie based on how you've named?
Matt Jones
You could have just named it the Blowfish and it would have been fine, but you separated a Hootie, and now I gotta call you Hootie. And I still call him Hootie when he plays country music and rub. I still call him Hoodie. He's always Hootie to me.
Myron Metcalf
He is. I'm always thinking, like, who are the five favorite black people of white people? Hootie, I think, is top five from the 90s for sure.
Matt Jones
Like, he can walk.
Myron Metcalf
Final four, I want to say, two years ago, is in New Orleans, if I'm not mistaken. I believe. Or I believe it's New Orleans. Who need to. Blowfish is playing next to my hotel. Right. So whatever hotel I'm staying at, they have a show that night. The line was three blocks long. I'm not even exaggerating. Everybody wanted to see who.
Matt Jones
Can I give you my black people that white people love the list.
Myron Metcalf
Okay, he's up there. Who?
Matt Jones
He's up there. Snoop Dogg.
Myron Metcalf
Yep. Even more so now after, you know, his latest Colin Pass.
Matt Jones
That's another one he.
Myron Metcalf
I almost bumped into his security once at an airport, and that was a. With Colin Powell, like, all right, I'll.
Matt Jones
Tell you who's won in recent years that's risen up the list huge. Charles Barkley. Charles Barkley. You're not gonna find anybody who doesn't like Charles Barkley.
Myron Metcalf
Barkley.
Matt Jones
So I'm open to other suggestions, but.
Myron Metcalf
Those are the Hooties up there. That's not. This ain't something we can take calls on. But, like, no, no, this is not.
Matt Jones
When you opened up the.
Myron Metcalf
No, we're not gonna take calls on. But, yeah, that hoodie was. I'm telling you, the line was three blocks long, and I was staying next to his hotel. It was. It was crazy.
Matt Jones
Not one. We can take calls.
Myron Metcalf
No, we can't take calls on it, but we don't need suggestions. We don't need suggestions on this one.
Matt Jones
Yeah, I'd like the suggestions, but I don't know if everybody else will.
Myron Metcalf
No, we don't. We don't need that problem.
Matt Jones
Urban M. First of all, you can tune into baseball's open.
Myron Metcalf
Hey, our producers. Every time we start talking about that stuff, you could just see the nervousness, man. Like, are they to go too far?
Matt Jones
No, see, here's the thing. We know the line. We're really good about that.
C
A crowd gathered in this control room once.
Myron Metcalf
Once Matt said, I'm going to give you.
Matt Jones
I'm g. To give you some. And then my. And then everybody was like, all right.
Myron Metcalf
Matt did say, well, here's our list. Mat Matt. Matt said it like, he couldn't wait to name the five black people. For a while now he's been official.
Matt Jones
List as official spokesman for the white community. Yeah, going to give you.
Myron Metcalf
I'm trying to get the white people on the list for. For black people. I mean, Dolly Parton's probably on that list.
Matt Jones
Yeah. You. You love Dolly Parton? No.
Myron Metcalf
You know, Dolly and. And I, you know, will always love you. Whitney Houston. That's her song. She made a ton of money off of it. Obviously, Whitney did, too. But here's what people don't know. A lot of the proceeds that she made from that song, she donated to black community Ventures. So that's why Dolly is always liking a special place for a lot of people.
Matt Jones
Well, I won't get. I won't give you my thoughts as to what you think it is. I think that would be. I think that will call everybody back in there. Tune in to baseball's opening weekend for the Padres host the Braves. Coverage of Sunday Night baseball begins at 8pm Eastern on ESPN radio. The ESPN action, 7pm Eastern, esp cold bell. Urban Meyer thinks that Travis Hunter should go number one overall in the draft, which is an interesting thought. Here's what he had to say on Marty McGee. Travis Hunter, to me, is a guy that I'm going to take number one. He's a guy, and I will play both ways. I've never said that in my coaching career. I've never had a player that could do that. And I played some. A bunch of first rounders, but we covered him a lot at big Noon. I got to know him. He was on our set. He's bigger than you think. His 170th play in that game. Marty, he's playing the same energy as play one in our lifetime. That's never happened. He's a quality person. He's an extreme competitor, and he has two skill sets that to me, in this day and age of spread football, corner and receiver, I'm taking Travis Hunter, number one. Are you going to do that? You're going to skip over the quarterback, skip over the Michigan lineman and go linebacker and go with. With Travis Hunter.
Myron Metcalf
Kelly Clarkson is another name I thought of. I think it's a. It's something to consider. Like, what I think we have in this draft is you don't have the guarantees it feels like we've had in other drafts. Right. So, you know, sometimes we go into this thing, man, it's like, all right, just pick the best available player. This feels like the kind of draft where teams are going to do that. Like, the Cam Warren thing is interesting because it feels like all of a sudden, in the last couple of days, teams have been like, man, this dude, we like what he's shown us, you know, over the last couple workouts or whatever. We usually go into the draft, into the off season, like, okay, we got three or four certified quarterbacks that everybody knows can be good at the next level. This felt like Cam Wardens. Your Sanders almost had to convince people that that could play it. They could play at that level, and I never think that's a good sign. So in a draft like that, where it feels more talent based than ceiling based, I think Travis Hunter could be number one. I don't think he'll be. He can play two spots at the next level, but he, to me, could have maybe the greatest impact of all the guys who are going to be picked in the top 10.
Matt Jones
Ruben stuttered. And then when.
Myron Metcalf
When you're talking about Travis, y'all love Ruben. Y'all love big bro, Y'all love Reuben.
Matt Jones
Reuben, the.
Myron Metcalf
The big singing D boys.
Matt Jones
Yeah, Luther, like, you give it.
Myron Metcalf
Yeah.
Matt Jones
Fat Luther, not skinny Luther.
Myron Metcalf
Well.
Matt Jones
Urban Meyer saying that about Travis Hunter. The thing you have to remember about Travis Hunter, though, is he's only going to play one side. So it's really nice to talk about what he could do with two sides, but he's not going to do that, Myron. So, like, sitting there and drafting him because of what he could do when you're not going to use him like that. To me, it's like, I won't say disingenuous, but it's a little bit like you're not going to use him like that. So who cares, right? Yeah.
Myron Metcalf
I mean, the question is going to be. I'm sure every team is telling Travis Hunter, we're going to let you try everything, right? We're going to let you play cornerback, play receiver. But you and I both know, you know, four games into his career, he's going to be something, right? Like, he's going to be full time at one position, and then maybe they work him in, because in the NFL, Matt, it's so hard to play one position. Like, I don't know how anybody could be at two spots, let alone try to be good at two positions. So. But he's intriguing, man. He's the best athlete in this draft. One of the best athletes we've ever seen in a draft that doesn't feel as strong as others in recent years. Give me the best player.
Matt Jones
And he's like. And he's also somebody who's had a lot of attention on him and it's. And has it, like, blown it? You know what I mean? Like, he. He's played with this spotlight already, and so I think that helps. Wayne Brady is another one.
Myron Metcalf
Wayne Brady is. He might be one. Wayne Brady might be number one.
Matt Jones
You think Wayne Brady passes?
Myron Metcalf
Wayne Brady's up there. Wayne.
Matt Jones
There was a time. Because he can both sing a show tune and make you laugh.
Myron Metcalf
Yeah.
Matt Jones
You know, Wayne Brady was.
Myron Metcalf
Wayne Brady. That's like. Yeah, that's y'all. Like, that's our Eminem. Yeah, we got. We'll take it.
Matt Jones
That's what I was gonna say. I wasn't gonna suggest Eminem, but I assumed you were gonna say Eminem. Wayne Brady is our Eminem. And with that, we'll let the executives take a breather and take your pick.
Myron Metcalf
Next, Matt and myron. The podcast.

Yeah, we call it a draft. Don't. Don't call it a draft.
Matt Jones
I like Lester Holt. That's a good one. Steve Harvey. That's another good.
Myron Metcalf
Steve Harvey might be number one with Family.
Matt Jones
Family Feud's a good show. I don't care what anybody says.
Myron Metcalf
Like I said, that's his old day. Yeah, they love.
Matt Jones
I love Family Feud. If I got nothing else on, I can sit and turn on Family Feud, and it's gonna make me laugh. And Steve Harvey, just by his facial expressions can make me laugh. When somebody gets up there and says something dumb, I love it. I get on the algorithm of family feud on TikTok of just stupid answers, and it always makes me happy.
Myron Metcalf
I think over the last decade, Steve is over Hootie now. I mean, I think he is. Steve Harvey's up there, number one over Hootie at this point.
Matt Jones
Yeah, I love it. Show me Metcalf. You know, it's good.
Myron Metcalf
All right.
Matt Jones
You should pitch this as a.
Myron Metcalf
As a topic for a Family Feud.
Matt Jones
Oh, that would be a good question for Family.
Myron Metcalf
I feel like that's the perfect question. Yeah, he would do it, too.
Matt Jones
By the way, can you name all the. Before we get to take your pick, can you name all the Family Feud hosts? Let's go back. You had. You had the first guy, Dawson. What was his name?
Myron Metcalf
Richard Dawson.
Matt Jones
Richard Dawson.
Myron Metcalf
Dawson.
Matt Jones
Then you had Ray Combs. That's the one people forget. Louie Anderson did it for a while, but didn't Richie.
Myron Metcalf
Didn't Richard Dawson replace Ray? Didn't something happen?
Matt Jones
Ray Combs replaced Richard Dawson. Richard Dawson was the one who'd kiss all the women. It's really gross. You can't do that. Like, you could do that.
Myron Metcalf
They used to bring women on so they could kiss.
Matt Jones
I mean, Bob Barker did, too. They would all just. Yeah, Richard Dawson.
Myron Metcalf
Like, Richard Dawson would have to go to HR today. Yeah, Bob would have had to go.
Matt Jones
Actually towards the end. But Richard Dawson would. He would. He would. Like he'd make a move. Am I missing anybody? Besides, I've got the whole. Okay, give it to me. You got Richard Dawson. Ray comes.
Myron Metcalf
Louie Anderson. Richard Karn.
Matt Jones
Oh, that's the dude from Seinfeld, right?
Myron Metcalf
Tool Time.
Matt Jones
Oh, Tool Time. Okay, he was. He was Mr. Wilson or whatever, right?
Myron Metcalf
No, he was the. He was like the co host on the show.
Matt Jones
Yeah, I think his name was Mr.
Myron Metcalf
Wilson was the guy behind the whistles.
Matt Jones
Guy behind the fence. Right. And then Jay Peterman did it, too, didn't he?
Myron Metcalf
Jon O'Hurley.
Matt Jones
Yes, that's Jay Peterman from Seinfeld. Yeah. That's what you're thinking of. Yep. And then Steve, Steve Harvey's. Steve Harvey's better than. I think he was the best one, honestly. It is now time for to do something actually sports related. It's time to take your pick. Take your pick.
Myron Metcalf
You take your pick. It's time to take your pick on Sunday morning.
Matt Jones
All right. It's time to. Al Borland was his name on Home Improvement. Al Borland, there's a.
Myron Metcalf
Why are we doing take your pick now?
Matt Jones
Because I'm leaving. If you remember in the last segment. Oh, yeah, you didn't have. You didn't have to make a big issue of it. All right, guys, let's go to the women's national or the women's NCAA tournament. Yes. All right, 1:00pm on ABC.
Myron Metcalf
Today, of course, you got number two.
Matt Jones
Duke versus number one, South Carolina. First Elite Eight for Carol Lawson as a coach.
Myron Metcalf
Myron.
Matt Jones
South Carolina favored by eight and a half.
Myron Metcalf
I have a theory. If you tell me that Dawn Staley has a South Carolina team in the NCAA tournament, I will never bet against Dawn Staley and that team. So give me South Carolina. I know this isn't the South Carolina team we've seen in many years, in past years, but they're still very, very good. And they got a chip on their shoulder from that lopsided loss to UConn early this year. So give me South Carolina.
Matt Jones
Not the South Carolina team of the past. They are beatable this year in a way that they haven't been. But they will win tonight against Duke. I don't think they get taken out until the Final Four. Texas, by the way, who's winning the national championship? You remember I said who's next?
Myron Metcalf
All right, 3:00pm on ABC.
Matt Jones
You got number three, LSU versus the number one, UCLA. UCLA favored by five and a half points on ESPN. Betmyron.
Myron Metcalf
Yeah. Lauren Betts, I mean, might be the best player in the country. Not named Paige Beckers. And I think UCLA has just been a force if you've had a chance to just watch them. I think I did a UCLA game last year for tv. Just a really fun group, really strong group. Give me ucla.
Matt Jones
Yeah. Again, lsu, not as good as they've been in other years. I think, however, their experience will lead them to pull off the upset today and to have three SEC teams in the final Four. So go ahead and let me take LSU in an upset today.
Myron Metcalf
All right. I might as well give you the.
Matt Jones
Elite eight games tomorrow. So tomorrow, 7pm on ESPN.
Myron Metcalf
You got that? Texas team, number two, TCU versus number one Texas in the battle of Texas.
Matt Jones
And Texas is favored by 7 1/2 on ESPN. Bet Myron. Texas by double digits. They're the best team. They. All the good teams except the two on the west coast came in to play Kentucky this year. Texas was by far the best team I saw. Give me Texas.
Myron Metcalf
Sometimes things are about destiny in sports, you know, and Haley Van Lith and everything. She's experienced going from Louisville, the star she was there, to LSU not being a great fit for her and has dealt with a lot of backlash online. And now she's found a really good situation for herself. TCU looks great with Haley Van Lif, who I think could be the best player on the court. So give me tcu.
Matt Jones
Quite an upset. Her dad is something else, man.
Myron Metcalf
I think that's.
Matt Jones
No Jalen Suggs or boyfriend. I'm talking about her.
Myron Metcalf
That's what I'm saying. Yeah.
Matt Jones
Dances up and down the floor like he's. He's something else. Who's next?
Myron Metcalf
All right, and then 9pm tomorrow night on ESPN. Number two, UConn versus number one, USC.
Matt Jones
Of course, no Juju Watkins and UConn.
Myron Metcalf
Favored by 13 and a half points.
Matt Jones
Yeah, that's a shame. If Juju played, this would be a heck of game. Maybe the game of the tournament. As it is, Paige Beckers and UConn will win as a 2 seed and get to the Final Four.
Myron Metcalf
Yeah. You know, I hope juju recovers. Who knows what that's going to look like for her now, when we'll see her again, if it will be at the collegiate level. But Paige Beckers is on a different level. And I probably would have picked UConn even if Juju was healthy. I think they're that good. Paige is trying to get that national championship. She's on a mission. Give me paige Beckers and UConn.
Matt Jones
All right, and then the men's side.
Myron Metcalf
Of the tournament, 220 today. Number two, Tennessee versus number one, Houston Cougars, favored by two and a half points on ESPN.
Matt Jones
Bet this is old school basketball slug fest. These are probably the two best defensive teams in the country playing against each other. You know, Tennessee's offense showed up against Kentucky, probably the best they play offensively in the last three or four weeks. If they do that again, they win. But they've had a hard time Putting back to back games offensively, well. So I'm gonna say Houston because I think offensively they're a little more consistent. But Tennessee's peak is higher than Kentucky. Speak. Or excuse me, than Houston's peak. Tennessee hit it Friday night. If they hit it again, they win. But I'll take Houston.
Myron Metcalf
I believe in bracket integrity in my bracket. Had Tennessee over Houston. I'll stick to that. I think they're both very, very good teams. Anything could happen. It won't surprise me if Kelvin Sampson and the Cougars win it. They're a different team offensively this year, but Tennessee and just, you know, everything they can do defensively, it's just hard to overcome. And I think they're getting better. I think we saw that against Kentucky. Give me Tennessee.
Matt Jones
Don't forget, Myron, you're the only 10 that I see. And that's when I get to host the show with you. Who's up next?
Myron Metcalf
All right, then, the 5:00.
Matt Jones
Why are you all shaking your head?
Myron Metcalf
Why is everybody.
Matt Jones
It was a good joke.
Myron Metcalf
I don't.
Matt Jones
And y'all all just shook your head. It was like, nowhere.
Myron Metcalf
Like.
Matt Jones
I know, but I was not going to use.
Myron Metcalf
But sometimes you gotta realize some people just turn on the show, like right now and they just have some questions, man. And all I'm saying is they need to get all.
Matt Jones
Who's next?
Myron Metcalf
You gotta, like, tell us when that's coming. All right, the 5:00 game. Number. The number two seed, Michigan State versus number one Auburn.
Matt Jones
Fans are predicted to be 80% Auburn in Atlanta, man. Oh, it's gonna be a huge Auburn crowd. Atlanta is just down the road from Auburn. Auburn's got a sneaky, really good fan base. I expect it to be packed with Auburn fans. I think Auburn wins. But I will say this. This is the scenario over the years when Izzo's been at his best. Right when it looks like he doesn't have a chance, this is when he goes and sets the upset. I'm going to take Auburn, though. Broom will be the best player on the court. And I think Bruce Pearl gets to his second Final Four.
Myron Metcalf
Yeah. For those that don't know, man, one of the things that's happened in the SEC is that now that they've gotten really good at basketball, the football fans are now just coming in these cities and following these teams. I'm in mid. I'm in mid downtown Atlanta right now. When you walk towards the arena, I have never seen that kind of representation, except with, like, Kentucky and schools like that. But Auburn is out here, man. They're gonna fill that building against Michigan State. Auburn's got. I think Auburn will win. I just think their depth, their size, all those elements will be hard for Michigan State to overcome.
Matt Jones
Used to be Kentucky. He's the only one that had a fan base in the SEC that travel now. Tennessee travels, Auburn travels, Alabama travels and Arkansas travels. Like, like, it's a, it's a different league now. Myron, thank you very much. There's still another segment and Myron Metcalf's going, what are we gonna do? But I, I don't know. Something fun. You know, you can't rely on me forever, Myron. You got to get on your own sometimes in life. We'll see you. Actually, I'm not gonna see you for a couple weeks because I'm gonna be gone to Amsterdam. So. Myron, I don't know when I'll see you again, but I hope it goes well and when I return, we'll get right back to it.
Myron Metcalf
All right, Sounds good, brother.
Matt Jones
All right, we'll take a break. V. It's Sunday morning on ESPN Radio.

C
Oh, your boy Zaslo here jumping aboard with Myron Medcap. Matt Jones had to split early. That's all right. This is Sunday morning on ESPN Radio, the ESPN app and SiriusXM Channel 80. Myron, how you doing man?
Myron Metcalf
I'm good, man. Hey, thanks for doing this, Z. How are they paying you for this? Like, is, what is this? Like, how. You know what?
C
That is one segment.
Matt Jones
Yeah.
C
I must be too nice. All right. Because these are not the things that ask beforehand. I don't clear these things before I say yes. So you know what? I think it's probably my bus this time. And the next time that I am asked, that's, that's got to be an upfront question because if I ask afterward, hey, I already performed the service, so that's on me.
Myron Metcalf
Yeah, I mean, because you, you have them kind of in a tough spot, right? I mean, you know, you're coming in for 15 minutes for me. I probably ask him for double time in that situation. Right. It should be a two segment.
C
I could have held out, like right before we went on here. I could say, hey, listen, let's talk dollar figures here.
Myron Metcalf
Yes.
C
Like, I, I'm, I, I got the upper hand and I lost the upper hand once I started the segment and didn't ask for anything extra.
Myron Metcalf
Now listen, so this is happening in the nil world. Like there are people, athletes at the collegiate level who are getting to like midway through the season or before bowl games and they're going, hey, man, I need an extra 50k.
C
Didn't that happen with the UNLV quarterback?
Myron Metcalf
Yeah, I mean, this stuff is, I know a coach who told me that a guy came to him like midway through the season was essentially like, I need another 40,000 or I gotta figure something else out.
Matt Jones
You know what I mean?
Myron Metcalf
So those things are actually happening, man, to teams across the country at the collegiate level, man. And that's just been fascinating to watch.
C
That's rough. You know, I was listening to you guys earlier, her Jay Williams join you guys here on Sunday morning on ESPN Radio a couple hours ago. And you know, talking about Cooper flag who, man, I mean, he, he didn't even have to do too much last night. They just destroyed Alabama. They were so good.
Matt Jones
Yeah.
C
Defensively, the Blue Devils, Cooper flag. I mean, I'm on his tip right now. He is, he is so impressive. But I know Jay Williams was mentioning to you guys earlier how, depending on certainly how the tournament, you know, winds down for Duke, that maybe this is a, an all time starting five player for the Blue Devils. Right?
Myron Metcalf
Yeah. And it's, you know, for here, for Jay Will to say that someone who I think is on that all time starting five of the greatest collegiate players we've ever seen. Yeah, that validates it. Now, Cooper flag Doesn't have design highlights necessarily. Like his skill is his skill, right? He's just a dude who impacts the game in so many different ways. I haven't covered a player who was a freshman in this skill I think since Kevin Durant, man. Anthony Davis, two way player, offense, defense. But in terms of just like offensive skill and ways he can score, I haven't seen this in a long time. I think what happens sometimes though is if you don't have that Zion Sports center kind of highlight package, although he does have a lot of big dunks, people maybe don't pay as much attention, but they're seeing now in the NCAA tournaments as this is one of the greatest freshman players we've ever seen and he should be a senior in high school, just turned 18 in December. This is about as good as it gets.
C
When we talk about all time great freshmen, you know, one and done freshman's in college basketball, the one that I always think about is Carmelo Anthony. To me he's, he's the greatest one and done player in college basketball history. Syracuse, they win the national championship. Of course he ends up being number three overall in the draft. To me, Carmelo greatest of all time. But is it possible? Again, depending on how it finishes, Duke's gotta win the whole thing to get in that conversation. In my opinion. If that's the case, are we gonna be talking about Cooper flag right there with a guy like Carmelo Anthony, Greatest one and done.
Myron Metcalf
Funny you should mention that because we asked Jay Will that exact question earlier in the show and here's what he had to say. I don't think talent wise he's like.
Matt Jones
AD I think AD is different. I think AD continues to prove to.
Myron Metcalf
Be different when he's healthy. KD talent wise, off the charts too.
Matt Jones
But I don't know if I would put Cooper ahead of those two. I think those two are like generational type players. I think Cooper's generational. I just think that's a different level. But I would probably get him higher than Tyler just because I think it translates differently. As much as Tyler had a great, I never saw it translate. I think the thing that makes Coupe.
Myron Metcalf
Different is not only is it dominant.
Matt Jones
In college, but it's going to translate, right? There's certain players in college, I'm like, I don't know if it's going to translate to the league.
Myron Metcalf
He's similar, kind of like on that mellow. Kd, not on that level or ad. I'm not sure he's going to be a guy like he's going to be.
Matt Jones
Maybe one of the greatest scorers, but.
Myron Metcalf
I think right outside those three, he probably fits in that bucket.
C
The Tyler he's referencing there, Meyer. That's Tyler Hansbrough he's talking about, right?
Myron Metcalf
Yes.
Matt Jones
Yeah.
C
Well, but of course, Hans Row stayed, what, three years in school? Does that sound right?
Myron Metcalf
Yeah, I think, yeah, he left. I believe it's three years and three years straight. First team All American.
C
Yeah. So as far as one and done, I mean, look, he's mentioned guys, Anthony Davis, Kevin Durant. Depends how it ends for Cooper Flag, but I think we're watching an all time great collegiate player.
Myron Metcalf
I.
C
And here's also the thing, Myron, you know, he. Duke players are not normally popular. Unless you're a Duke alum or a Duke fan, it's really easy to dislike the great Duke player. I don't get that with Cooper Flag. Like, do you sense that?
Myron Metcalf
No, because I. I don't think he has. I. I don't know, man. I think it's a different era. I think that's a part of it. But make no mistake, man, that dude's nasty on the court.
Matt Jones
Yeah.
Myron Metcalf
I mean, he has an edge to him. Like, this isn't some dude who's trying to be everybody's friend, but I think it's just a different era.
C
Christian Laitner had that Ed show up, too, and we hated Christian Laitner.
Myron Metcalf
Well, had he played, I think from like 1990 to 2010, it'd be. It'd be different. But I also think a lot of people are just understanding, like, what he is. The ACC wasn't great this year. One of the worst years for that league in a long time. So I think people are getting the time to sit down and actually watch Cooper Flag Flag and understand, like, what he's about. And to me, and you saw this last night, one of the things about Cooper Flag that stands out to me is he doesn't have to score 25 to impact the game. He's had some off shooting nights, but he just finds a way to get involved no matter what it is. And I think that's what sets him apart.
C
I think last night, you know, Duke over Alabama and holding the crimson tide to 65. I. I think. I think last night was the best performance of the tournament. What Duke did to Alabama.
Myron Metcalf
Yeah, I don't think anything's close. I mean, Alabama destroyed byu, so that was an Alabama team. Just to put this in context in terms of, like, how good was Alabama that. That day when they played byu, which byu had been the best offense in America when the Boston Celtics made 29 three pointers in October. 147 points per 100 point per 100 possessions. Right. Like that's a really big number from an offense. Alabama was at 142. Like so you're talking about a team that rivaled what the Celtics had done. Fewer minutes too. You just don't see that. And for dude to just dismiss them and to look like they weren't on the same planet as a team that good says a lot about how good these Blue Devils are.
C
Yeah, and I mean look, I'm, I'm a Gator alum. So last night was super exciting what Florida did, Florida though, I, I, they haven't really put together a great 40 minute game yet and they've been able to survive. You know, against Yukon they turned, they, they finally got to go in the last few minutes. Against Texas Tech last night, they finally got it going the last few minutes. If Florida is going to sleepwalk through the first half against a potential matchup against Duke, let's say in the national championship, they're going to lose that game. They're gonna lose it big.
Myron Metcalf
I think that's a really valid point. Right, because what Florida can do better than anybody is they can hit the button. I mean they scored 53 points in just over 63 minutes against Norfolk State. Right? 53 points in a 16 plus minute stretch, that's unheard of. But they did that Tennessee earlier this year, it was a tie game early in the game. They go on this big run last night. They're down by nine with 3:14 to play. They launched this 18 to four run. The problem with that says, and you know this is you can get a little arrogant when you do that. Like when you have this ability to climb out of those deficits.
C
Yeah, we'll turn off.
Myron Metcalf
That's kind of your thing, right? And you can get kind of hooked on that a little bit. But I agree with you 100%. You do that against Duke, you're gonna be down by 30 or 25. And no matter what you do, we'll change that.
C
It's funny man. Like the Gators, they're, they're better than these teams that they've beaten to get obviously to get to the Final four. And it just shows you, man, it is hard to get to the final Four. It is hard to win those four games. And you know you got two more games here today. 2:20 Eastern Time, Tennessee, Houston, 5:05pm Eastern Time. Michigan State and Auburn and by the end of today, thank God those games are on at 10pm we will have our final four teams. Myron, you are great today. Excellent job out of you.
