The following podcast is a Dear Media production. What's up, guys? Welcome back to Sunday Sports Club Podcast, a podcast all about sports told by a woman. And today we have a special guest, Brianna Norton, and fellow NFL wife Wag, if you will. Her husband currently plays for the Atlanta Falcons. And he's. Is he a left tackle?
B
He's a swing tackle, but technically he's a backup right tackle right now.
A
Okay, I know nothing.
B
Swing.
A
Okay, interesting.
B
He swings.
A
He sounds like a fun guy. But we're gonna be talking all about, like, Christmas and the holidays, and we're also gonna be touching a little bit on, like, how we met, because obviously we met through the NFL. So we'll take it all the way back to the Los Angeles Chargers. Yeah. Great times. Also, you guys are probably listening to this, like, you might be traveling home for the holidays. You might be headed to a place you probably don't want to go to. I don't know. Holidays are tough for people 100. And they can also be tough. They get sticky if your husband plays in the NFL.
B
Yeah.
A
So let's take it back. We can quickly just rewind and touch on how we met.
B
Okay.
A
We met through social media.
B
Yes, 100%. Because it's actually really funny. The way that I decided that I was going to find new girlfriends is literally going on the Chargers. I was moving from Ohio to la, so I'm like, I need friends. What I decided. What I decided to do was literally go on the Charger social media, and I wasn't scouting men. Okay.
A
Fully scouting.
B
Fully scouting women through the Chargers.
A
I didn't know you swung that way, Bri. Yeah.
B
You know, every once in a while, you learn something new every day. Scouting friends through this Charger social media and, like, clicking on every guy that was tagged just to see if they had, like, a photo with their wife or girlfriend, whatever. I come up on Isaac, and then I see Ally, and they're, like, making a vegan cooking video. And I'm like, yes, this is my girl. And then I think I.
A
So she's obviously biased.
B
Yeah, yeah. 100.
A
And then I think you DM'd me. I sent you my number. And then we started talking back and forth, but it was during the off season.
B
Yeah. You gave me the lowdown on absolutely everything in Orange County.
A
Wow. Look at me. I don't remember, like, what I sent you or anything. I do remember you asking if there was a kids club or, like, what to do with the kids during a football game. Yeah, had. I mean, it was Covid, but You were like, in the event that we can go. And I was like, oh, I have. I have no knowledge of that.
B
That was, like, the only thing you weren't sure about. But, like, also, there wasn't anything. And we didn't go to games, so for a while.
A
Yeah. But it was. It's crazy because we just started hanging out.
B
Yeah. It was, like, very natural, though. Like, literally the first time we hung out, you. Oh, God, I'll never.
A
Oh, no.
B
You looked at me and you're like, you're an Enneagram. I'm like, I don't know what that is. I just know that I'm a Sagittarius. I absolutely know what. I have no idea what an Enneagram is. And you're like, you remind me of my sister. And I was like, okay. Like, that can't be bad. Like, I love that for me. And that night, I went home, I took an Enneagram test. Test, and I texted you that night, and I was like, what is happening? How did you just know that?
A
I. Obviously, the California lifestyle was getting a little to my head, because I don't even remember. I think I'm an Enneagram, too. I need to retake it. I've heard you can change.
B
You can.
A
So, yeah, I think I need to retake it and see what I am again. Because initially I was, like, the host, and I don't really think I care that much about people anymore.
B
That's fine. I feel like. I feel like your Enneagram, it does change based on the way that your perspective on life and the world is okay. Yeah.
A
Because I do know I have a friend who's, like, going through some. And she was like, my Enneagram has changed. Has changed.
B
Yeah. I have to take it again, too. I'm 100 sure, though, that I'm still an 8.
A
Like, there's just you all, without a doubt, innate.
B
Yeah.
A
But I feel like, because you were similar. Like, you have a similar vibe of my sister is like. But you're also easy going crazy. All of my really good friends are Sagittarius. Well, not all of them, but, like, I get along with Sages really well.
B
Yeah.
A
As a Capricorn. And you.
B
Scotty.
A
Scotty's now a sad. So I know we're gonna have a great relationship.
B
Yep.
A
And then, so, yeah, football season started. We started hanging out, and then that was back in 2020. It's now 2024. So we've been through together. You. I, like, invited you to my wedding after knowing you for like, yeah, we clicked really fast.
B
It was like we were hanging out all the time after that.
A
And I feel like when people think of relationships and, like, girls in the NFL, people are always asking. They're like, oh, is there drama amongst women? And I'm like. I mean, sometimes I guess there can be, like, petty. But, like, when it comes to, like, actual friendships, I feel like it's how I describe it, as how any other type of friendship would be. Like, yeah, you're going to click with some people.
B
Same thing. It's just you. I feel like you meet a lot more people faster because of it. But, like, I feel like it's so great because you are given this, like, big group of women, and you kind of just. It's like in a natural setting, you vibe with who you vibe with, then you're going to be close with people that you're. And you're not going to be so close with other people. Not that there's any tea on that. There's. It's just.
A
It's just.
B
Just how it is.
A
The world.
B
Yeah.
A
I mean, place me in a room with a hundred women and, like, how many of them am I actually gonna get along with?
B
I will say I've changed a lot since then. There's no. I just. I don't know if it's because I'm not, like, looking for friends anymore, and I'm like, God, I'm literally. I have two kids. I'm pregnant.
A
Friends.
B
Yeah.
A
Congratulations to Bri. She just announced that she was pregnant.
B
I did, today.
A
Yeah. Well, you didn't get pregnant today.
B
No, I didn't get pregnant.
A
Like, wait, your husband's in Atlanta and you're in California?
B
Yeah.
A
Major team. So then, yeah, Bri and I have kept up ever since the Chargers. We haven't been on, like, the same team or even in the same state since, which I think is also rare.
B
I feel like once you leave a team that you were previously, like, friends with someone on the team with, it's either like. I feel like that's like, the true test of if you guys were, like, actually friends or if it was just because of football. Because that is a thing. That totally really is a thing.
A
It's like a convenience friend that doesn't mean anything negative. It's just like, oh, we're in the same city.
B
Yeah.
A
Whereas in, like, there. There have been friendships where I'm like, oh, I probably, like, won't make my way out to go and visit them for, like, a weekend, for sure. But we've stayed strong Staying strong. I was your bridesmaid. Even though you guys have been together longer than me and Isaac. You guys have a child.
B
Yeah.
A
Well, you have children. You have almost three.
B
Almost three.
A
But, yeah, we go way back.
B
Yeah.
A
So Brie and I are very comfortable with each other. We're like one of the NFL wives success stories.
B
A hundred percent.
A
And, yeah, speaking of the NFL, I guess we can, like, kind of touch on that in today's episode.
B
Yes. If we really need to. Do you guys care about that?
A
Yeah. I don't. I'm kidding. Okay, so how excited are your kids for Christmas?
B
Oh, my gosh. I mean, because how old are your kids? Okay. Riker is 6 and Kayson is 3. Riker is just at the age where he fully, completely understands everything, and he just does not stop talking about it.
A
No, Literally, like, he's like, once you tell him one thing, it's.
B
He doesn't forget. First of all, he doesn't forget anything. And he's also really obsessed with Elf on the Shelf. And by the way, Ali is like, the biggest. Like, he's. She's iconic with the Elf on the Shelf stuff.
A
Look at the train behind you. I fully built a train while you guys were gone, and I had to hide it from Riker.
B
Yeah. I mean, Riker has completely been. He's, like, wiping himself in the morning seeing what Allie has done with both of the elves, because we have Rochelle, and then Chippy joined us from Georgia to here. And so it's just been, like, so much fun. But he loves Christmas.
A
Rikers at the age where if you tell him something, he, like, fully remembers.
B
Yeah. Yeah.
A
Whereas if I tell Scotty, she. It's in one ear and maybe even in. In that ear, like, for sure it.
B
Doesn'T even go out the other. Just literally.
A
Right.
B
Yeah.
A
Okay. And so what are you guys doing? Because your husband is actively playing for the Atlanta Falcons. What does Christmas look like this year?
B
So, unfortunately, it's actually never been like this to where, like, so obviously teams are playing on Christmas, which I don't remember that Storm has ever played on Christmas, which is amazing. I could be totally wrong. And just playing.
A
Isaac played on Christmas, and it was miserable.
B
Yeah. I just couldn't imagine that. And, like, having to explain that to Riker with, like, kill me. He'd be upset. Have a fake Christmas.
A
Yes, I think. Would you change the day?
B
Yes. Because he wouldn't have any idea.
A
Well, he probably would. Yeah, he would probably look at the calendar.
B
With my luck, he would. Absolutely. Yes. And he does look at the calendar too. He's like, today, what are we doing? But Storm has to actually go to work at 8am and then he gets off at like 1:30. So that's not a long day. But it's like we have to kind of rush the morning and I'm gonna try to do everything I can to make it as normal slow and then we'll have like when he gets home. That's just like Christmas brunch and stuff like that.
A
Kind of unfortunate though because like 8 to 1 it's like, can you at least make it earlier or make it later?
B
Right.
A
I just feel like. Yeah, like at least going 10 to 3. I feel like that's a different.
B
Well, normally the day is like pushed back. Like any other team that we've been with. It's been like pushed back to where the guys will go in at like 10:30, which is a significant difference.
A
Yeah.
B
But I'm just praying that cuz Tuesday is technically off day. Every week is Tuesday and I'm just praying that they switch.
A
What day of the week is Christmas?
B
I think it's Wednesday.
A
Oh my.
B
It's literally the next day. I know. That's exactly what I said. I was like, are we kidding?
A
I guess you could act like Christmas Eve is Christmas.
B
Yeah, I just rather it be on the day. Yeah, it is. It just would be so different for me.
A
Isaac, when he played for the Indianapolis Colts, he had a game on Christmas day. And for some reason in my mind I decided to not go to the game and also not go and spend it with my family. So I just stayed in Indiana and I woke up on Christmas day and I was like, wait, I'm sad.
B
Yeah, that's really sad.
A
And my fate, my family, Facetime me. And they were all drinking mimosas. Like, you can drink one too. And I was like, oh, I'm sad.
B
I would have been home.
A
Yeah. And the game was in Arizona, so it was on west coast, so it wasn't until later. And then he didn't get home until like 2am and the next day we acted like it was Christmas and it was just not.
B
Not the same.
A
It wasn't.
B
But it's tough.
A
It is tough. Do. Are the Falcons doing anything in terms of a Christmas party? Have the wives done anything? Yeah.
B
Yeah.
A
Are you not going?
B
No, it already happened. I didn't go.
A
Well, you're pregnant so you're allowed.
B
Yeah, I wasn't. I just was not feeling up for it. First of all, it was like. It was so Raheem Morris his wife, absolutely insane human being. She's incredible. She has thrown so many parties since the season has started and they're all in her home. She literally just does like extravagant things. It's like so thoughtful. She cares a lot about the families and the wives. So she's thrown so many kids parties and like parties for the wives and all of that.
A
How long have they been with the Falcons?
B
So they were previously with the Falcons. He was not the head coach for the Falcons. He was.
A
Oh, he's in coaching staff.
B
He's. He's a head coach.
A
Okay.
B
Morris is a head coach.
A
Got it.
B
And this is their first year head coaching with the Falcons. Got it.
A
But they were.
B
He was previously a coach for the Falcons.
A
Okay. So they church. Okay.
B
And so. Yeah. But this, they. She did have a Christmas party for the wives and it ended up just being like. It was like 6 to 10. And I was just.
A
I think meant like 6 to 10 people. Not like 6pm to no, 6pm to.
B
10Pm and I just remember that day for. I was just like feeling icky. I was like, I'm nauseous and I'm not gonna get any better. I'm so tired. So I ended up not going. But yeah, she throws. I mean, she cares a lot about it, which is great because we. I've not had that before.
A
I. I actually do. We. Me and Kylie, Kelsey just touched on this is like there is always. Not always, but usually like a team mom. So that's the person who it could be on the coaching staff. It also could be a player's wife. They've usually been there a few years. They usually are more like the higher paid people. Yes.
B
Of hun.
A
They have like a concrete home there. Not concrete as in like material, but like they like live there. And it's so interesting because usually it's an O lineman or his wife.
B
Right.
A
I'm trying to think if. If it's ever not been an O lineman.
B
No, it's usually. It's usually an alignment with.
A
With the Raiders it was the punter's wife that was like usually like coordinating everything. But they had been there a minute.
B
Oh, wow.
A
Yeah. And so that makes sense. So yeah, the team mom usually been there for a minute. Usually high roster, paid, yada yada.
B
Right. But then honestly, like any other team that we've been with, there's always like a player's wife on the O line or like the head coach or not the head coach, the offensive coordinator, coordinator or the O line coach will invite all of the guys and their wives or girlfriends to their home to have, like, Thanksgiving dinner.
A
Really?
B
Christmas dinner? Yeah, we went to Storms Online. Coach. Coach's house for Thanksgiving.
A
Wow, that's. I did not know that. Yeah, everyone, I'm a defense.
B
Defense is very different.
A
Very. Yeah, very different.
B
O lineman.
A
It's kind of like a click. It's like a family.
B
It is the O lineman. The men always have kids. The men are always married. They're just big, huge teddy bears.
A
Yeah, that's what. When I think of O lineman, like, your husband, like, fits the mold to a tee, for sure.
B
Yeah.
A
Yeah. As for defense, I've never been invited to anybody's. No, I have been invited People's houses. Maybe I'm the problem. Maybe I should be the one doing the inviting. But, you guys, I'm. I'm moving every year, so. Okay, so what are the. What. Have you talked to any other families with the Falcons, like, what they're planning to do for Christmas, or is it just kind of like. No, no.
B
And I don't think that anyone has anything planned because if, like. Like, I. If it was the same thing for Thanksgiving, I think they would have already reached out. But I think Christmas is just so different because it is, like, it's not Thanksgiving.
A
Right.
B
Christmas is, like, more. Yeah.
A
Christmas is not Thanksgiving. Christmas is Christmas.
B
Correct. Which I feel like is common sense.
A
So then there's not, like, a Falcons, like, Christmas party or anything?
B
No.
A
You don't have to answer this if you don't want to.
B
Look.
A
What about the quarterback? Because Kirk Cousins is, like, a pretty big name. Have they done anything? Has she been involved? I know sometimes, like, when it comes to quarterback, they're either super involved or, like, they've kind of been like, they've done. Been there, done that. Not. Not really involved.
B
Yeah.
A
Okay. We don't have touch on that. We can just remove that question.
B
Literally. I would just be like, she's not anything.
A
That's so interesting.
B
It is.
A
Why? How is it already Christmas this week? I feel very unprepared. I feel like I've been traveling so much and busy and running around that I have fully procrastinated when it comes to getting gifts for my entire family. So I'm headed to Macy's because Macy's has such an array of problems. Products, clothing, bedding, towels, blankets. I mean, I'm literally wearing a comfy, cozy set from Macy's right now. So I'm headed over to Macy's. I don't want to sit in traffic and be going around from store to store. To store. Macy's truly has it all. I'm thinking about getting my mom a candle from Joe Malone. You can't go wrong with a candle. Everybody wants their house to smell good and it's like a luxury candle. Thinking about getting my dad maybe a pair of earbuds also. I hope they're not listening to this, but a pair of the Sony earbuds, maybe getting my sister a pair of the ugg slippers. Because they have ugg slippers over at Macy's. Like I said, they have something for everyone. And I also might do a little shopping for myself as well. Grab something for the holidays. A cute outfit, maybe a dress. If you guys are also last minute gift shoppers like myself, let me influence you. Let me inspire you. Here are some other things you guys can grab at Macy's. Dior Lip Glow Oil. I'm a huge fan of that. I might have to stock up. They have a smeg kettle. It's cute. It looks cute on your counter, but it's also very functional. Diamond stud earrings, Isaac, Sony PlayStation. And if you guys don't want to go in store, they also have free shipping on orders over $25. So shop in store or shop online@macy's.com gift guide. Because I know like I've been or I guess Isaac, I guess he's on the team but I have been a part of teams that have had like White Elephant or like a Christmas brunch to celebrate the Los Angeles Chargers. I I feel like I I'm always like blowing Blowing smoke. Is that a good thing? I'm always like talking highly of them because they, they genuinely did view the players as like they have a family. Like the whole player. Yeah, as a whole. The whole player as a whole. And that was the only NFL team that had a Christmas party with all the staff, all the coaching, all the players. I can understand why it's a liability because like if a player. Player gets drunk at a party.
B
Yeah. But also the NFL has like so many uber credits and Yeah. I mean usually that's what they tell you to do.
A
So like that was the last team that we really did anything for Christmas. I'm trying to think. Colts. We did like a ladies like jewelry night. Browns. Nope.
B
I genuinely like don't remember having anything Christmas related from the Chargers while we were there.
A
I think.
B
And I think it's because Covet. And then there was just like a new head coach. So then everything changes.
A
Very true. I didn't even think about the head coach switch.
B
Yeah.
A
I wonder if Anthony Lynn had anything to do with like including like all the staff and the players because I think that's really rare.
B
I mean, usually it is up to like literally one person. Like we did have. We did have like some girl like women get togethers at the facility for the Chargers. But it w. It wasn't anything like intense. No.
A
But I would say that it was more than I was used to with any other team. Like Raiders did. Oh, wait, I wasn't there for Christmas. They fired Isaac. But aside from that one NFL team I have seen.
B
Take them back.
A
I'm just kidding. You said what? Oh, bring back. I'm like, I don't want you back. No, I'm kidding. Oops. One NFL team that I have seen a ton on social media doing things left and right. Oh yeah, the Detroit Lions.
B
Oh yeah.
A
I would love to be a part of that organization. Jared Goff's now newly wife, Kristen is so involved, so sweet. Always like reaching out. She's like doing things in the community with like girls clubs and they just had a favorites party.
B
It's the cutest things. Like it really is the cutest things that are being done over there.
A
It's like they worked with Abercrombie and Fitch and have been. Oh my God. It's insane.
B
I had FOMO during that.
A
I'm like, I'm like, I go there. Like I like used to live in Detroit.
B
Yeah.
A
So yeah, they just did the favorites Christmas party. So if you guys don't know what a favorites party is, it's Expensive. But like you. However many people are there, you have to bring. Let's say there's like 32 wives. I don't know.
B
Yeah.
A
If there are 32 wives, you bring 32 of your favorite thing. And I was like, oh, I get to leave stuff. Yeah. There were, There were women there who.
B
Yeah.
A
Were generous.
B
Yeah. Could do that.
A
Yeah.
B
Right.
A
I'm like, I would walk it in and think, do you guys want.
B
That's really intense.
A
It is very intense.
B
Really intense. And I was like, a lot of pressure on everybody to like bring something. Like, I would feel like a lot of pressure for that. I'm like, so I show up with like this, like, I don't know, something like really small. And then everyone else is like, custom, like necklace or something.
A
But like, if you think about it, like, because I was thinking, oh, what would my favorite thing be? And I'm like, oh, maybe I would like get travel vouchers. But like, there's 32 girls. That's $3,200. If I give a hundred dollars.
B
Yeah. That's a lot.
A
So I'd have to do something like, meaningful.
B
For sure. We did have a white elephant at an alignment's house.
A
Okay.
B
That his wife threw. It was a dinner for the whole online and their wives at their house.
A
Oh, Linemen.
B
Steady.
A
Having get togethers and parties. I feel like it truly is a like club.
B
It is. We're like, I mean, Storm is always just like, I love these guys. Like, and he will not. Like, there's a lot of competition. The NFL is competition.
A
Right.
B
You're always competing for a spot. You're always, it's always something. But Storm is literally someone that you want on your team. Like, he, he loves all the guys. He will never say anything, not one bad thing about somebody on the team.
A
I know, I know because I've tried talking with him.
B
Yeah. He won't do it. I. I also try and he is like, we can't, we can't have that kind of morale. And I'm like, that's not fun.
A
I just want to talk.
B
You know what other team is actually really, really good at throwing stuff? And something I always compare to is the Vikings.
A
Really?
B
They're intense. Like, I mean, not intense, but like, that's the team. Like, after I had Riker, we moved to Minnesota a month after Riker was born. And I feel so thankful for that because that was my first like, real experience with a team and a child. And it was just so amazing, everything that they did for game day, for the kids and the wives, like, they just made everything so easy and seamless. And I was just comparing everything to the Vikings after we left, and it was honestly, like, they were great.
A
That's incredible.
B
There are Christmas parties every year at the Mall of America in the middle where the amusement park is, and they literally just, like, rent it all out. It's so fun.
A
That's.
B
Is that cool?
A
It's so cool hearing from different teams and, like, different experiences and even different, like, eras of that team. Like, I've heard, unfortunately, I've heard that, like, the Green Bay packers are just. Don't do anything for the family or anything because they're owned by, like, the state of Wisconsin.
B
Really? I did not know that.
A
I mean, I'm like, I need to fact check myself. But I've heard from multiple women that, like, it's. It's a different ownership style, so it's not as like, nobody's thinking, like, oh, what. What are the wives doing?
B
Right. Yeah.
A
Some people might be listening to this podcast being, like, who. Who gives a. About the wives.
B
About the wives. We do a lot at home. Okay.
A
I was gonna say it's. It is an interesting dynamic because, like, it's a. It's an interesting job.
B
Yeah.
A
For your husband to have and, like, moving all the time. It's. I do appreciate when the team acts like the families matter.
B
Yeah.
A
Because I think that affects the players.
B
I mean, it does.
A
And you can't. I.
B
We're literally the only reason why they're able to, like, live out, like, genuinely. This is what I believe in. Storm also believes this. Like, he's like, I wouldn't be able to do this if it wasn't for you.
A
I'll take credit.
B
Right. I'll take credit all day.
A
The teams that Isaac has been on that have hung out outside of the facility and been active in each other's lives and hanging out constantly and, like, a big friend group are the teams that do well.
B
For sure.
A
So, like, I'm thinking of the. Like, when we were at the Los Angeles Chargers the fourth, third year, he was there. It was 2019. We were hanging out every off day, every Friday, date nights, this and that, birthday parties, Thanksgiving, Christmas, all that. We were always together. It was a huge group and did great.
B
Yeah. Yeah. It's a big deal. I mean, it's literally the morale of the team.
A
It is. And I think that's why maybe O. Linemen are different from any other position because, like, a quarterback needs to trust his own for sure.
B
Yeah.
A
Alignment. And quarterbacks have a really interesting dynamic because quarterbacks are known in the NFL for taking care of their own linemen. Especially when it comes to Christmas.
B
Yeah, they do.
A
You guys don't know the lore of quarterbacks and o linemen, but when it comes to Christmas, quarterbacks gift sometimes pretty insane things to their own linemen. So I want to know, like what is the coolest thing or like what are some things that Storm has gotten?
B
Okay. A custom club bidding.
A
A what?
B
A custom.
A
Like golf clubs. Okay.
B
Yeah, that. A grill. Like a full grill with like engraved their number on the side of it. Which is like such a manly thing to get someone. It was like a big wheel. I think it was. I don't. I don't know the name of the brand of the bike, but it was an electric bike. But it was like a really thick, hefty. I thought it was like a motorcycle at first. I'm like, is this a chopper?
A
I know what you're talking about. I know what it looks like. Yeah, like a moped. But not.
B
Right. We've actually not opened it. It's been in store. That mean that's how big this thing is.
A
I would even. I would have opened that immediately.
B
But we have. Yeah, right. I just feel like there's. I mean there's been like this doesn't seem really big, but the stuff that was inside was like pretty cool. There was a huge yeti. Like a really, really nice yeti that came with like a bunch of stuff inside.
A
Interesting.
B
Like a bunch of stuff inside. But I feel like not anything that's been. I've heard of really insane things. Like really. I. I feel like the coolest thing is the goal fitting. Like the club fitting. Like that's kind of insane.
A
Especially as. I mean Storm is what, six, eight?
B
Six eight. Yeah.
A
So yeah, I think that would be a. And it's a high value gift. Like that's for sure.
B
Yeah. And it's like really cool. And it's like an experience for like men who really like to golf. Storm loves to golf. To go do that. Really cool.
A
And the craziest gift I've ever heard of a quarterback getting an alignment or a group of alignment.
B
Yeah.
A
Because it's not just one. They get a few of them golf carts. Why weren't we a part of that same. I've heard golf carts. I've heard. I forget. I think it was Philip Rivers who got like all of his own linemen custom cowboy boots.
B
That's really cool.
A
All. I mean have just been gifted some insane things. I don't Know any other from like other teams, but it's always been crazy. And Isaac always comes home from the facility, like, oh, yeah, the online gifts were today.
B
I mean, it's always a fun time just to like see. Because also like the alignment have like a white elephant.
A
Yeah.
B
And that's also really fun to see like what you end up coming home with. Because every guy has to buy like a gift that is a certain. It has to be at a certain price point.
A
There's a minimum.
B
Yeah, there's a minimum.
A
There's no maximum.
B
No, there's no maximum. But there's a minimum that you have to spend and everyone just like it's a white elephant. And then also on top of that, the game is the highest Vet, like whoever is like played the longest gets to steal first and then it goes down.
A
Oh, wow.
B
Yeah. So like the vets come home with like really cool stuff.
A
Interesting. The only group gift Isaac has ever been gifted was from DeForest Buckner, who plays for the Indianapolis Colts. And he is like a high paid defensive lineman.
B
Yeah.
A
And Isaac came home with a. It was. It looked like a motorcycle. It was a moped, but it had the big tires and everything. And it. The seat had his custom number engraved in it. Like it was like embroidered into it.
B
So cool.
A
Ended up getting stolen.
B
No.
A
Yeah. Ended up getting stolen.
B
What?
A
Yeah.
B
Dang.
A
But we thoroughly enjoyed it.
B
Yeah.
A
If you're watching it this podcast on YouTube, I'll have. I'll put in some clips of Isaac and I enjoying it in our Indiana suburbs also.
B
Let's find it.
A
No, seriously, if you've seen a moped that has number. What was. What number was he? I don't remember. But that was the only time that like. Because usually like somebody on the defensive lineman won't gift a huge thing. Every single year, there has been a defensive secret Santa.
B
Okay.
A
So you pull out somebody's name and then there's a minimum you have to spend. Isaac has always been Isaac. Values, intention.
B
Okay.
A
A little bit more than like flashy.
B
Comes home with like lame gifts.
A
No, Isaac comes home with good gifts. But Isaac's the one giving the lame gift.
B
Okay.
A
But usually he. He thinks more about it, like who he grabs. In the past, he's always pulled guys names who have been like on practice.
B
Squad or like, that's so nice.
A
A guy that doesn't have like a huge contract.
B
Yeah.
A
And his go to gift is always a flight voucher. Spend a few thousand dollars and give a flight voucher.
B
And like so smart.
A
Especially for a Guy who, like, might be on practice squad or like, his family is not out there, like, for sure. I was like, that's a good gift. Then Isaac comes home with, like, a Gucci book bag and Louis Vuitton belt. I'm like, okay, okay. Like, we could step it up next year. Like, way embarrassing. Okay, Isaac, flight voucher, Louis Vuitton.
B
Yeah, right.
A

Have you ever had any NFL teams do anything special for the kids? Because you've had a kid almost his entire NFL career.
B
Yeah, I would say only. I mean, literally only the Falcons, which is Nikki Morris, Raheem's wife, the head coach. She, like, has thrown Halloween parties for the kids at her house.
A
Fun.
B
And then she just did a Polar Express Christmas party for the kids.
A
I think it's really rare for that.
B
Head coach to be on.
A
Very involved.
B
Yes.
A
Blows my mind because I do feel like when players ha and coaches have like a great relationship, I feel like it's a better team.
B
It is dynamic. You know what I mean?
A
These NFL owners aren't thinking about that.
B
No.
A
God, why are there no women NFL owners?
B
Like, I really don't know the answer to that.
A
I feel like if I owned an NFL team, my team would be great.
B
100.
A
I'd be like, does anyone Want to talk about their feelings? Like, raise your hands. Like, we'll pass around. Like, yeah, let's. Yeah, like, let's decompress 100.
B
I mean, people literally rave about, like, the men, like, love Raheem. He is, like, great for them. He's. He's, like a normal guy. And his energy is just so hilarious. Like, I mean, truly, he's hilarious because. Oh, also, every month, like, once a month, they have, like, a family dinner at the facility for everyone to come and eat, and they do, like, a bounce house. They did a trunk or treat.
A
That's.
B
Yeah.
A
Rare.
B
Once a month.
A
That is rare.
B
And it's because of Morris.
A
Wow. Incredible. I'm kind of. Kind of jealous. Atlanta, do you guys need any help.
B
These last few weeks? Yes, please.
A
No, actually. That'd be so much fun. Yeah. Okay. Christmas games to look out for. You guys aren't playing on Christmas? We have the Pittsburgh Steelers versus Kansas City Chiefs.
B
Okay.
A
It's crazy that there are games on Christmas.
B
Yeah. But it is. But it's fun for us to watch, though. Like, it is. Like, I love watching a football game on Christmas Day.
A
Absolutely.
B
Yeah.
A
So as long as my husband's not playing in it, I'm fine.
B
Totally. Totally.
A
And then there's also the Houston Texans playing against Baltimore Ravens. And also Beyonce's performing.
B
Oh, my God. I cannot wait.
A
What a Christmas treat.
B
Oh, yeah.
A
You got Taylor Swift in one game and Beyonce in the next.
B
I'm a Beyonce, Stan. I love Beyonce through and through.
A
That's incredible. Oh, and Mariah Carey is going to sing all I want for Christmas is you for Netflix's Christmas game opening.
B
That's iconic. Have you.
A
What? It's so crazy how these games are, like, the culture.
B
Oh, yeah. It's totally changing. I mean, I don't remember it being like this. I feel like there's a lot of. A lot of celebrities coming in and, like, just doing these random things. No. Has it always been like that?
A
No.
B
I feel like.
A
I feel like the celebrity, like, not me having really bad ADD for this episode. I just keep switching where my legs are. Yeah. No, I feel like the. The celebrity scene has been heavily involved and also, like, going to games a ton.
B
I agree.
A
This is a total side note. Have you seen the conspiracy that the Los Angeles Chargers hired a fan and they always panned the same fan and she goes nuts every time. Do we think she's real?
B
I cannot.
A
Not like AI, but, like, do we think she's a paid actor?
B
I cannot begin to even. I don't want to believe that it's, like, for real. I just.
A
I hope she watches this and it's like, no, I love the Chargers. I.
B
But have you, like, seen her in action? I have, and I've seen her, like, at a game and I think I'm, like, sitting.
A
You've been at a game?
B
I've been at a game where she is there, and I just cannot even.
A
Like, is she sitting with people? Is she.
B
I don't know. I just see. I just see, like, oh, you don't know her life story? No, I don't know her life story.
A
You don't know how she got there?
B
Should have her on. Just kidding. Should ask her in person.
A
I should, but I just.
B
I just don't want to believe that she's like, that they're not paying her. I hope that they are.
A
Yeah.
B
She goes crazy. She goes crazy. There's no way someone acts like that.
A
I guess we'll never know.
B
I'm not being a hater, swear to God. I just. I'm just like, whoa, that's intense. I love you. I think it's cool, I guess.
A
Well, yeah. Well, if you're that person, just like, please write in. Yeah, the Chiefs have played a couple of Christmases in a row, which. Sorry, Taylor. Yeah, sorry, Taylor. Sorry, Britney. Sorry, guys. Jackie. Tranquil.
B
Yeah, sorry, Jackie.
A
Patrick Mahomes has been kind of pissed about it, apparently.
B
Really?
A
My producer wrote that. I don't know if Mahomes is actually pissed, but if he is, let's say for.
B
Yeah.
A
Argument's sake, he is. What do you think families feel about, like, if he is pissed, how do you think families feel like that, like, about him being pissed? Do you think they agree?
B
Do you think they, like, other families within that organization are like, outsiders? Not and not in the football.
A
I'd say people in the football world.
B
In the football world. I mean, if you can't understand why someone would be upset about that. You're asking. I'm like, so real. I'm so honest. Like, I'm gonna give an honest answer if you can't understand. I mean, think about this. His wife, they have three kids now, correct?
A
She's pregnant.
B
Yeah, she's pregnant. And you can't spend, like, Christmas at.
A
Least one time, the reoccurring every year. That's tough.
B
That's tough. That is so tough. Like, I would understand if it's been like, here and there. This is, like, happened like once or twice. Like twice. But, like, if it's every year, consistently. And let's just be so Real. It's because the Chief's kingdom is insane.
A
Yeah. And they'll show up and show out for Christmas.
B
They will. And they get probably a ton of views because it's the Chief. So, like, I get it from that perspective, but I don't do. I think it's fair for the families that are playing and involved. No.
A
I'm going to tell you right now what the hate comments are going to say to that. They're going to say, we love hate comments. They're going to say, if you're getting paid millions of dollars, you should play any day, anytime, anywhere.
B
Well, they are not AI characters. They are literally human beings. So. Yeah, I think that's the thing that people actually forget about is like, we know how much they get paid. Like, it is crazy, people. No one's not saying it's not great. No one's saying it's not crazy. It is crazy. It's a lot of money.
A
No, exactly. People have told me I'm not allowed to be sad that my husband lost his job because, like, he has made money.
B
Yeah.
A
I think it's like, oh, like he's. But he's been in the NFL. Like, you should really count your blessings. I'm like, I'm literally moving.
B
Yeah. It's a lot. It's a lot. It's a lot on the wives. It's a lot on us. It really is.
A
And we also are very blessed still and very privileged.
B
Feel like I need to give, like, any context other than the fact that it's hard. Like, I don't feel like I need to be like, me being like, I understand. I'm privileged.
A
Like, yeah, of course.
B
Who wouldn't. You wouldn't fully understand.
A
You're like, that's a given.
B
That is a given. I don't have to sit here and tell someone that the life that we live is not like, not normal. We know that.
A
Whenever I film a podcast, especially talking about, like, controversial things, like becoming, like, being a mom is controversial. Like, there's so many opinions for sure. I find myself always being like. But also. And it's like, I'm like, I don't know if that's like a green flag or a red flag. Cuz I'm constantly just like. But all like, I think it's good to feel. Have everybody feel included. But at the same time, I'm like, can I just talk about my perspective for five seconds without being canceled?
B
I think that's the issue. I think it has absolutely nothing to do with you. I think it has Absolutely everything to do with other people who are easily triggered by other. What other people think and say. And that's absolutely not your.
A
So it's not me.
B
It's not your problem. It's not your problem.
A
It is not my problem.
B
No.
A
So the Christmas games are on a Wednesday because of Christmas. And how do you think that's going to affect the players and their families? Do you think that the players who are playing in Christmas day, do you think they're going to maybe celebrate a day earlier, A day later? I mean, you can't do it a day earlier if it's an away game.
B
Yeah, I mean, they are going to have to. I think that the day after that they get home, I think is like, probably best case scenario.
A
It just sucks because I feel like Christmas has a vibe. Christmas morning you wake up and you're like, everybody is experiencing Christmas.
B
Right.
A
It takes away a little bit of the magic and I guess it does.
B
And especially like if everyone else is like posting and you know, like, first of all, you're away from like your family, like your mom and the grandparents and everyone. Normally you're away from them and then you're like on Instagram and you just see everyone, like celebrating with everyone. It is sad.
A
Yeah. But also very blessed.
B
Still blessed. Just so you guys know.
A
Still blessed. We're still so sad, but like, still like, great.
B
Don't worry about us.
A
Okay. Christmas themed rapid fire questions. Football on Thanksgiving or Christmas Day?
B
Thanksgiving Day, definitely Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving Day, for sure.
A
Honestly, I don't mind a game on Thanksgiving day. If it's a home game, I would want, I would want to go. I think that's enjoyable for sure.
B
I mean, not that I. I mean, Thanksgiving is actually one of my favorite holidays because the food and I just like love being around family and stuff.
A
Bri, you're vegan. You're eating tofurkey.
B
I'm not. I eat everything else but the turkey. And actually when I wasn't. Turkey is something that made me so sleepy.
A
It's so sleepy.
B
So sleepy. I would have to take a nap. Nap, for sure.
A
A nap. Nap. Watching the game live or enjoying it at home with a family, that's tough.
B
Because I, I recently am just like an at home watch games from home type of girl. Like, I love away games so that I can like watch them at home, hear the commentators.
A
I like that.
B
I, I am that girl. But I will not miss, I won't miss a home game just because I.
A
Miss dressing up for the games. I'm just gonna have to Go to one Storms.
B
Yeah.
A
Christmas morning family run or Christmas morning mimosas.
B
Christmas morning mimosas family run. No. Who. Who in the what?
A
I'm a turkey trot family. I'm like a. Like, let's get a DD and then drink mimosas while running.
B
Oh.
A
So then I feel okay.
B
Better. Yeah.
A
And I'm gonna get out, get some vitamin D. Everyone's gonna be happy. A little endorphins. Team Secret Santa or team White Elephant?
B
Oh, I like white Elephant.
A
I hate white elephant.
B
Do you? I think secret, actually. If I can take that back. I know it's rapid fire, but if I can take that back. I think that Secret Santa is more intentional because you know who you're buying for, and it's not like you're having to, like, switch stealing. Because, like, if someone steals a gift that I got, I'd be pretty pissed off. So a secret Santa.
A
I recently went to a White Elephant party hosted by dibs, and they did all the gifting. And so you would just go up, pick out a gift, open it, whatever. Some girls are too nice. Oh, not too nice. I'm gonna have bad juju. But one of. One of the girl. One of my friends had the opportunity to steal someone's Cartier bracelet and chose not to. But then karma, in a good way, came back around and a different brand sent her a Cartier bracelet.
B
See? That being good karma.
A
Do I have to be a better person?
B
I don't think that.
A
I didn't steal from anybody.
B
Pressure on you is fair.
A
I didn't steal from anybody. That's all I know.
B
You are a good person.
A
Yeah. Thank you. Steelers or Chiefs?
B
Like, who do I think is going to win? Or who would I choose? Because those are two different answers. I know who's gonna win, but I. I grew up a Steelers fan.
A
I think, what if the Steelers win?
B
Can I say something controversial on here?
A
Yeah. This is literally a controversial podcast play.
B
We're gonna get a lot of hate on this podcast simply because of me.
A
It's okay.
B
Totally fine.
A
Just go on private.
B
Yeah, I don't care that much. Chiefs.
A
Nobody with her. She's pregnant.
B
Also, don't with me, because I'm. I'll give right back. Also, the Chiefs have been getting by with. I mean, they've been getting by.
A
They have.
B
They're not even that good this year. They. They are winning. They're winning, and that's really all that matters at the end of the day. I understand that fully.
A
They will go to the super bowl.
B
And I also Know that I really have nowhere to talk because the Falcons aren't doing great either. But they've been getting by.
A
Put us in, coach.
B
Ready for someone, a different era? Yes, I'm ready for a different era. I'm sick of it. I'm sick of it. Tired of it.
A
I hope the Steelers winners have been doing good now.
B
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
A
They've been doing decent. They had a really good search of the season.
B
I'm a Troy Palomalu girly.
A
I don't know who that is.
B
Oh, what?
A
Who is that?
B
Whoa. I think actually the hate comments are going to be from that.
A
Wait, Troy.
B
Troy Palomalu. He's like the. Okay. Actually, I cannot talk that much. He was. He's a former. He's a former Steelers player. He is, if not already going to be in the hall of Fame. He's incredible. I didn't like him because he was good at football. I think that he was just really hot. Storm got me his Jersey for my 25th birthday. The literally signed. His uncle was a coach for the Vikings and gave it to his uncle to give Detroit to sign for me because I love him that much.
A
An NFL player gifting his wife a different NFL players jersey.
B
Yeah.
A
One of a kind. Storm Norton.
B
Literally, what a king.
A
Yeah. He's not intimidated by anybody.
B
No, he is not intimidated by anybody.
A
Texans or Ravens? Ravens aren't my favorite, so I'm gonna go Texans.
B
Okay. I personally think that the Ravens will win. Bri, I'm so sorry.
A
Get the fuck out of my house. Texans haven't been bit that bad this year.
B
No, no. But I think just like, realistically, I think that the Ravens will win.
A
Really? I don't know about that.
B
What's the. What's their record in comparison?
A
Let's pull it up.
B
I should start a controversial podcast.
A
They. The Texans have nine wins and five losses.
B
Good.
A
That's good. It's good.
B
Yeah.
A
They've been playing well. I don't.
B
And what about the Ravens? You're like, ignorance is bliss.
A
Literally. I don't think about them. The Steelers are 10 and 4. Oh. So they have a chance to be the chief.
B
100%.
A
The Ravens where the. Oh, here they are. Oh, they're nine and five.
B
Okay.
A
Wow. So these are some really great Christmas Day games. Tune into Netflix for the Christmas Day games.
B
Yeah, Netflix.
A
All right, well, that's it. Happy holidays, everyone. Bri, thanks for coming on.
B
Thanks for having me. Merry Christmas.
A
You had no choice. You're literally sitting at my house.
B
I know.
A
I was dragged in here Yeah, I. For me and Isaac, my family's all flying into town. We're going to be spending Christmas here in California.
B
It's going to be so much fun.
A
Scotty was two weeks old, her first Christmas. I don't count that.
B
No.
A
She was basically still a fetus, but.
B
Outside my body for sure.
A
So this is officially her first Christmas, and I'm so excited because Isaac and I are going to go Christmas shopping once my family comes into town. We're going to have my parents watch her. We get to go and have fun.
B
Yeah. That is such a fun, fun, like, experience. Yes.
A
I'm so excited. And then, yeah, I guess we get to start, like, Christmas traditions. We are not in our fully renovated house yet. That's. That's sad.
B
Which is insane.
A
It's sad, but I'm so lost.
B

Release Date: December 22, 2024
In this festive episode of Sunday Sports Club, host Allison Kuch welcomes special guest Breanna Norton, an NFL wife whose husband, Isaac Norton, plays as a swing tackle for the Atlanta Falcons. Together, they delve into the unique challenges and joys of celebrating Christmas within the NFL community, sharing personal stories, team traditions, and insights into balancing family life with the demands of professional football.
Allison kicks off the episode by introducing Breanna Norton, highlighting her experience as an NFL wife and her husband's role with the Atlanta Falcons. They set the stage for a heartfelt conversation about navigating the holiday season amidst the unpredictable NFL schedule.
The conversation turns personal as Allison and Brianna recount how they connected through social media during their time with the Los Angeles Chargers. Breanna shares a humorous anecdote about scouting female friends on the Chargers' social platforms:
Breanna Norton (01:55): "Scouting friends through this Charger social media and clicking on every guy that was tagged just to see if they had a photo with their wife or girlfriend... I think I came upon Isaac, and then I saw Allison, and they were making a vegan cooking video. I'm like, yes, this is my girl."
They discuss their natural chemistry and the swift progression of their friendship, leading to Allison inviting Brianna to her wedding. The duo emphasizes the authenticity of their bond, free from typical NFL-related drama.
Allison and Breanna explore the complexities of celebrating Christmas when a family member is actively playing in the NFL. Breanna expresses concern over Isaac potentially playing on Christmas Day, highlighting the logistical and emotional challenges:
Breanna Norton (08:37): "Having to explain that to Riker with, like, kill me. He'd be upset. Have a fake Christmas."
Allison shares her past experience during Isaac's tenure with the Indianapolis Colts, where participating in a Christmas Day game led to feelings of sadness and missing out on family celebrations.
The hosts discuss their children's anticipation for Christmas. Breanna's son, Riker, is excitedly involved with the "Elf on the Shelf" tradition, while Allison describes how her children interact differently during the holidays:
Breanna Norton (07:18): "Riker is just at the age where he fully, completely understands everything, and he just does not stop talking about it."
They share strategies for maintaining normalcy and joy despite the disruptions caused by NFL schedules, emphasizing the importance of creating festive traditions that accommodate their unique circumstances.
Allison and Breanna delve into how different NFL teams handle holiday celebrations, comparing their experiences with the Falcons to other teams like the Detroit Lions. Breanna praises Nikki Morris, Raheem's wife and the Falcons' head coach, for organizing inclusive and extravagant holiday parties:
Breanna Norton (11:20): "She literally just does like extravagant things. It's so thoughtful. She cares a lot about the families and the wives."
They contrast this with other teams, noting that not all organizations prioritize family-inclusive events. Allison highlights the Detroit Lions' inclusive "Favorites Christmas Party," reflecting on her time living in Detroit and the strong community bonds fostered there.
The discussion shifts to the emotional toll and logistical hurdles NFL families face during the holidays. Breanna emphasizes the constant moving and the difficulty of being away from extended family during Christmas:
Breanna Norton (44:16): "Yes. I'm not feeling up for it."
Allison and Breanna address the societal misconceptions about NFL families, stressing that while they may appear privileged, the reality includes significant sacrifices and emotional challenges.
In a lighthearted segment, Allison and Breanna engage in Christmas-themed rapid-fire questions, revealing their personal preferences and holiday habits:
Football on Thanksgiving or Christmas Day?
Christmas Morning: Family Run or Mimosas?
Secret Santa or White Elephant?
Steelers or Chiefs?
This segment adds a personal touch, showcasing their individual holiday styles and team loyalties.
