The following podcast is a Dear Media Production. What's up, guys? Welcome back to Sunday Sports Club Podcast with Allison Kuch, A podcast all about sports told by a woman and a man. Welcome to this week's episode of Sunday Sports Club Podcast. Today, we are talking all about fines.
Isaac Cooch
Are you not going to formally introduce your special guest, Isaac?
Allison Kuch
You're on the episodes, like, all the time.
Isaac Cooch
Yeah, but I. If it's not my podcast, I need a formal introduction.
Allison Kuch
Okay, guys, here's Isaac Cooch.
Isaac Cooch
Okay. Was weak.
Allison Kuch
Before we started filming this podcast. Isaac. I. He has a sticker on his water bottle, and it says 1031. And I was like, what? Like, was it on clearance? Like, I don't get the sticker? And he was like, no, I left it at the gym and they put a sticker on it. And I feel like after a certain amount of days, they're like, it, like, sell it.
Isaac Cooch
Well, there's.
Allison Kuch
I don't like, a 50 water bottle.
Isaac Cooch
I don't think there's resale on a hydro flask. Second off.
Allison Kuch
Really?
Isaac Cooch
The issue was when I went up, they were like, hey, what does it look like? And I had just bought it, and I was kind of like, dang. Wait, what color is it?
Allison Kuch
They made you describe your water bottle.
Isaac Cooch
Yeah. Or else I could just go in there every day and be like, yeah, like, I think I left my. My Apple AirPods. They're the white ones, but, yeah, but.
Allison Kuch
I feel like a water bottle. No one's trying to steal your water bottle. That's disgusting.
Isaac Cooch
I said that it was light green, and he was like, I don't know. We have one in here that's a mint green. I was like, you're kidding.
Allison Kuch
Wait, shut the up.
Isaac Cooch
That's how you know you work out at Equinox.
Allison Kuch
He needs a fine.
Isaac Cooch
That boy got a color palette.
Allison Kuch
So I have discussed NFL finds before because my husband is notorious for receiving them.
Isaac Cooch
I. I've been fined a few times. Yeah.
Allison Kuch
And I made a joke on Tick Tock not too long ago, and I said, oh, if my husband gets fined $7,000 for not having his socks high enough, I feel like I should get $7,000 to go and spend it.
Isaac Cooch
Went viral. That's. You should be thanking me for being in the NFL.
Allison Kuch
No, it should be thanking you for wasting $7,000. I promise I did not make $7,000 in return on that video, but I made it as a joke because obviously I'm not going to go and blow $7,000 after you blow $7,000.
Isaac Cooch
Well, you get Fined, and we'll get into it. There's an appeal for process, and I didn't actually pay seven grand.
Allison Kuch
Yeah, but I. I made a joke about it, and everybody took it so seriously. They're like, wow, you're so privileged. It's like, wait, guys, I'm not wasting $7,000. And how about you take it up with the NFL for finding somebody $7,000 for a pair of socks?
Isaac Cooch
It's actually absurd that that's. I mean, I get why they find, but it's. It's an absurd thing to find somebody. 7,000 in preseason, by the way. It was a preseason football game. Doesn't count towards your record or anything.
Allison Kuch
But it does count towards your bank account, that's for sure.
Isaac Cooch
Do you. Do you know how much I've paid actually, like, lost appeals and had to actually pay. Do you know the amount?
Allison Kuch
No.
Isaac Cooch
I had to pay $10,000 for a fine.
Allison Kuch
Wait.
Isaac Cooch
For a helmet. To helmet my second year.
Allison Kuch
How much money have you paid in total and fines?
Isaac Cooch
A little over 10,000. I had, like, another fine where it was like, I had to pay, like, 80 bucks. Random.
Allison Kuch
Wait, 80 bucks?
Isaac Cooch
Yeah. No, literally, it got. It got reduced, like, 80 bucks. That was a sock. Fine got reduced, like, 80 bucks.
Allison Kuch
Wait, I want to know the total amount that you've wasted on being ridiculous.
Isaac Cooch
10,880.
Allison Kuch
Because I'm about to start finding you in our marriage.
Isaac Cooch
I'm about to be like, marriage jar.
Allison Kuch
It didn't. Didn't fill up my water bottle. Fine. You would. Boy, you would be past $7,000.
Isaac Cooch
What am I supposed to Venmo?
Allison Kuch
I told Isaac because I'm. I'm exclusively pumping. I'm starting to wean off. Thank the Lord. You want to talk about making it in the NFL is hard. You try making it 10 months. Exclusively pumping.
Isaac Cooch
The pumping journey is. It's hard to watch.
Allison Kuch
But I told Isaac that if I'm exclusively pumping and I'm putting two machines, two robots to suck my nipples, this is gonna get. It's gonna be like the E is going to be explicit on this episode. But if I'm putting on two robots to take the milk out of my.
Isaac Cooch
Say it every time.
Allison Kuch
Take the milk out of my nipples. Ew.
Isaac Cooch
Why did nipple.
Allison Kuch
Yeah, Just continue my utters. If I have two robots on my udders taking out the milk six to seven times a day, 30 minutes. If I'm power pumping, and the least. Least you can do is fill up my water bottle, and Isaac has been really bad at it.
Isaac Cooch
This has been a source of contention in our house. And I don't think it's meant for the pod.
Allison Kuch
I think it's a th percent I.
Isaac Cooch
Formally apologize and I really am bad about it. I. It's really, really bad.
Allison Kuch
Cancel culture is real, Isaac, so you better watch your back, cuz I have an army.
Isaac Cooch
I don't have anything to say.
Allison Kuch
You know what? If you're listening to this podcast every single day, you guys should all remind Isaac to fill up my water bottle.
Isaac Cooch
Oh, my God, the brigade.
Allison Kuch
The brigade.
Isaac Cooch
No, actually be helpful.
Allison Kuch
So Isaac. Isaac should be starting to get fined in our marriage here pretty soon. I think that's something I want to talk about in therapy. We don't even go to therapy anyways. I feel like every couple should go to therapy.
Isaac Cooch
Yeah. I mean, if a couple's like, oh, like, we have zero issues.
Allison Kuch
I'm like, like, so you fill up your wife's water bottle every day?
Isaac Cooch
Like, dang, you must be really on top of the hydro jug duties.
Allison Kuch
Anyways, so today we are talking about fines in and around the NFL and football games and other miscellaneous things. I feel like a huge reason NFL teams and the NFL organization have fines is to uphold this certain image. Right? You want the players to look a certain way, you want them to act a certain way, you want them to maintain a good image for. For the organization of the NFL.
Isaac Cooch
Yeah. I mean, I'll speculate here for a second and just think about it rationally. If I have a league and I'm selling jerseys for these teams, I want everybody to look the same. I don't want you to have some guy that comes in and looks totally different and then it just messes up the brand. They want it nice and clean. So there's very, very, very strict rules.
Allison Kuch
About your uniform, which is kind of shocking that with the guardian cap, because I feel like the guardian cap kind of throws everything off about the image of, like, what a player looks like.
Isaac Cooch
The guardian cap, it's kind of smooth. You don't really see it. I think they made them thinner. They don't look like marshmallows anymore. But in each locker room, like, literally in each locker room, they have a whole diagram that breaks down what you can and can't do. Like, don't have, you know, like when you're high school, it's like 2 inches above the knee. Like, it's same type vibes for us.
Allison Kuch
Except you're not getting smacked with a ruler by a nun.
Isaac Cooch
Did that happen?
Allison Kuch
Yeah.
Isaac Cooch
That never happened to you, though.
Allison Kuch
Marist Academy. Yep.
Isaac Cooch
What it's 2024. Their school needs to be investigated.
Allison Kuch
No. They also fired the lesbian teacher.
Isaac Cooch
Really?
Allison Kuch
Yeah.
Isaac Cooch
Wow. She needs retribution.
Allison Kuch
Yeah. Isn't that crazy?
Isaac Cooch
I don't know if retribution's a word, but we're not getting smacked by rulers. But you will get smacked with a fine. And if you're a repeat offender, you will continue to get fined. I mean, I don't know how your fine just keeps going up.
Allison Kuch
No.
Isaac Cooch
Yeah.
Allison Kuch
And I. I have some info. Everybody. Everybody. No, everybody. Producer Annie. She's the best, but she helps me outline these episodes. Last year I was doing it solo, and it's probably why I was so stressed. Now I have Wellbutrin and Annie.
Isaac Cooch
This podcast is brought to you by.
Allison Kuch
It's actually not one day. So there are five categories of misconduct or fines. Unnecessary roughness, Unsportsmanlike conduct towards an opposing player. Other unsportsmanlike conduct or prohibited conduct. So, like verbal abuse of an official, fan interaction. Conduct detrimental to the integrity of the game. So, like faking an injury, being soft, and then the last is uniform.
Isaac Cooch
Wow. It's funny, they put that in conduct detrimental. Like, it's. It's an issue to the game.
Allison Kuch
Detrimental to the game. Yeah.
Isaac Cooch
I mean, to find. I don't really love the fine system in the NFL. And the issue is when I got fined $10,000. That's more. It was in preseason. It was more than. Well, let me rewind. The initial fine was $30,000 in preseason, which at the time I was making fifteen hundred dollars a week. And it's six weeks, so I was making like ten grand for the whole preseason.
Allison Kuch
But they.
Isaac Cooch
And I got fined $30,000.
Allison Kuch
But how. How much was it reduced to?
Isaac Cooch
10.
Allison Kuch
We. But in the. Steve, it literally states that you can't get fined more than 10 of your. Your weekly.
Isaac Cooch
That must be different. I got fined ten grand in my salary that.
Allison Kuch
You were in the negatives.
Isaac Cooch
My salary that year was 550.
Allison Kuch
Wow.
Isaac Cooch
It's kind of a lot of money.
Allison Kuch
Oh, my God. Good thing we weren't together.
Isaac Cooch
$10,000.
Allison Kuch
And is that during our breakup, you're just feeling like, oh, I miss Ally. I'm gonna bang my head against a wall. Oh, here's a player.
Isaac Cooch
It's. Yeah, it hurt. It hurt. And it's. I mean, 10 grand is a lot of money. Especially at that point in my career.
Allison Kuch
Life changing money.
Isaac Cooch
Yeah, it's kind of ridiculous.
Allison Kuch
That's another thing I have to reflect on whenever I film an episode like this where like, I'm like, oh, yeah, seven thousand Dollar fine. Ten thousand dollar fine. I understand that sounds ridiculous. Like, those are numbers. That. That is not normal.
Isaac Cooch
I mean, you have guys in locker rooms making. Oh, yeah, a couple mil a game.
Allison Kuch
That's kind of insane.
Isaac Cooch
What is 10 grand for them?
Allison Kuch
They.
Isaac Cooch
Some guys will do. Do things knowing they're gonna get fined, like.
Allison Kuch
Like throwing a football.
Isaac Cooch
There's a guy, Trent. Trent Brown. I mean, he literally wears no socks and games knowing he's gonna get fined $7,000. Yeah, that's nothing. Boy's making like 30 mil a year. He doesn't care about a little measly seven grand.
Allison Kuch
What?
Isaac Cooch
Yeah. Boys don't care. I don't think it's worth. But wait, I'm sorry. I got totally distracted here because I was trying to think of this guy's name. His ankles probably are cold. No, it's. Or it's. It is Trent Brown, but yeah, Trent Brown is. His ankles are cold and he's got tons of money, so he doesn't care.
Allison Kuch
Minus. Minus 7K. Minus 7K. Minis 7K. That's ridiculous. Insane.
Isaac Cooch
Oh, it goes up.
Allison Kuch
But either way, I wonder, maybe he gets claustrophobic. I'm just being devil's advocate.
Isaac Cooch
I need to. I need to let these calves breathe. He's also 610, so he's got a lot of calf that needs to breathe.
Allison Kuch
Maybe they're in socks that fit him. Anyways, so the NFL and NFL Players association collectively bargain on an on field code of conduct for all players. So it's the NFL and the NFL. Pa. It's a cba, so it's in the cba. So in NFL terms, what would you describe. What is a cba?
Isaac Cooch
Just an agreement between us and the ownership.
Allison Kuch
So is a CBA meant to, like, protect you guys or is it meant to just, like, have rules?
Isaac Cooch
It's. Its goal is to protect us. It's when it sets structure to what we're doing. Otherwise, we're just employees. Where they could say, hey, we're going to pay you minimum wage, or we're going to pay you whatever. Like, it just sets structure to everything we're doing.
Allison Kuch
And so the. The people involved in negotiating the cba, which is known as the collective bargaining agreement.
Isaac Cooch
No, that is what the CBA stands for.
Allison Kuch
That's what I'm saying.
Isaac Cooch
Yes.
Allison Kuch
I said it's otherwise known as.
Isaac Cooch
Yes. Okay, okay.
Allison Kuch
So the people involved in negotiating the CBA are the players, the NFLPA and the NFL.
Isaac Cooch
Yes.
Allison Kuch
Now, in my head, and you can correct me, are the NFL and NFL PA kind of like against each other.
Isaac Cooch
You hope so.
Allison Kuch
Yeah.
Isaac Cooch
I mean, there's conspiracies. They could be working together to negotiate a worse cba. I'm joking. But no, they're basically, think about it this way. The NFL ownership comes to us and they say, hey, here's our contract that we want to have with all the players. Like the cba. The NFLPA is essentially like our lawyers. They. And they come in and they're like, hey, we're going to review this and help you negotiate and work on your behalf to be negotiating this. And if you want something changed, we're going to work to negotiate it.
Allison Kuch
Right.
Isaac Cooch
And we're going to come talk to you guys and make sure you guys are good to go and like, whatever.
Allison Kuch
And the CBA is always changing.
Isaac Cooch
No, it changes every 10 years.
Allison Kuch
I'm saying, like it's, it. There are changes. Like it changes as the years go.
Isaac Cooch
On every 10 years.
Allison Kuch
So only every 10 years.
Isaac Cooch
Stuff in theory can change. Like they want to change the off season, but it's renegotiated every 10 years.
Allison Kuch
Why so long? I feel like there's, there's a lot of change in and around the NFL. I mean, 10 years ago.
Isaac Cooch
Well, think about it.
Allison Kuch
10 years ago, we were just meeting. Wait, we hadn't met yet.
Isaac Cooch
11.
Allison Kuch
No, it was 10.
Isaac Cooch
It's 2024.
Allison Kuch
We met in 24.
Isaac Cooch
Oh, wow. We're about to have our 10 year meeting anniversary.
Allison Kuch
Okay, we're totally off topic. Isaac. We're losing them. We're losing.
Isaac Cooch
So yeah, you had you. It's negotiated every 10 years. If you want to negotiate before, what do you do?
Allison Kuch
Strike.
Isaac Cooch
You strike.
Allison Kuch
Has there ever been a strike in the NFL?
Isaac Cooch
Yeah, 2010, there was a huge strike that ended poorly for the players.
Allison Kuch
Wow. That I did not know that.
Isaac Cooch
Yeah.
Allison Kuch
So who pays attention to the players infractions? Like, who's finding these players? Is it officials? Is it the team? Is it the NFL?
Isaac Cooch
It's the NFL.
Allison Kuch
So the NFL is like, watch. They're watching every player.
Isaac Cooch
So the NFL is reviewing everything. So like the helmet to helmet that I got fined that came off of no penalty after the game. Like it just. Every play is reviewed. So then they might watch a play.
Allison Kuch
The NFL officiating department reviews every play from every game and refers potential violations to the football operations compliance team.
Isaac Cooch
It's crazy, but it's.
Allison Kuch
There's eyes everywhere.
Isaac Cooch
Everywhere.
Allison Kuch
Everyone's watching.
Isaac Cooch
And you can get fined for uniform stuff. If they don't call you out, you can still get fined for it. Crazy, scary, spooky. Season.
Allison Kuch
Wait, that's kind of insane.
Isaac Cooch
They watch.
Allison Kuch
So then how do you learn that you have a fine.
Isaac Cooch
You have a FedEx package sitting on your locker. That's why guys are like, fedex package.
Allison Kuch
Wait, really?
Isaac Cooch
Yeah, if you go helmet, is the.
Allison Kuch
NFL sponsored by FedEx?
Isaac Cooch
No, but if you go helmet to helmet somebody, that's like the ongoing joke, like, oh, yeah, he's got. He's about to get a big FedEx package.
Allison Kuch
What's in the package?
Isaac Cooch
It's a formal letter saying a welcome document. It's. It's.
Allison Kuch
Hi, welcome, you owe us $7,000. Please write a check to make check payable. Huge.
Isaac Cooch
It's just a formal, like, boy, you.
Allison Kuch
Owe us, boy, I'm about to leave FedEx packages on your.
Isaac Cooch
Ali's about to be like, your FedEx is here.
Allison Kuch
Wait, okay, so wait, what's inside the package? Sorry, I wasn't listening.
Isaac Cooch
It's just a formal, like, letter saying, this is what you owe us. Yeah.
Allison Kuch
In a package or is it an envelope?
Isaac Cooch
No, it's a full on envelope.
Allison Kuch
Do you have to, like, ask the front desk?
Isaac Cooch
They come through and they set it on.
Allison Kuch
I know, but do you have to ask the front desk of the facility for a box cutter?
Isaac Cooch
No, it's a. It's a envelope.
Allison Kuch
It's with an envelope.
Isaac Cooch
It's an. I said that it's an envelope. Yeah, it's not a box, it's an envelope. But it's a. It's like a legit thing. And like, you know, you. You're like, man, 10 racks.
Allison Kuch
Wait, so then if you have multiple fines, are there multiple packages?
Isaac Cooch
I don't know how that works.
Allison Kuch
I don't know how that works. Is it like PR packages and they just start piling up?
Isaac Cooch
You're like, yeah, I've got a lot of PR in my locker. Well, no, you get PR in your locker, though.
Allison Kuch
But really?
Isaac Cooch
Yeah, you get packages they drop off at your locker.
Allison Kuch
Neutrogena is sending you skincare.
Isaac Cooch
If I order Neutrogena or I give Neutrogena my address at the facility. I mean, when I was in Cleveland, I got so many packages.
Allison Kuch
I wish I would have had known this because I would have sent fines to you for fun. Like, I would have just sent a little document.
Isaac Cooch
You would. You would have got me. Yeah, like, I first. If you would. Yeah, that actually would have been such a good. Wait, I should do that to one of my friends. Oh, wow, that would be so funny.
Allison Kuch
He should do that prank, man. Okay, so when you pay these Fines you, you pay them well. How do. So does your agent know that you have the fine or do you tell your agent?
Isaac Cooch
Your agent already knows. They'll notify your agent too.
Allison Kuch
They know. Do they get an envelope too?
Isaac Cooch
No, they just. They get an email. They get a formal email, but basically then they go through the appeal process. So. Brian, my agent appealed for me and like organizes the hearing. And I mean, you have a hearing. Like you're so.
Allison Kuch
I wouldn't. When I hear that there is a hearing and you can appeal the fine or make it like lesser or whatever.
Isaac Cooch
I wish arguments worked like this where I could be like, I'm appealing this. You are not. Right. I'm going to tell you you're right.
Allison Kuch
But you are footage of our arguments.
Isaac Cooch
That's what you think. That baby camera is everywhere.
Allison Kuch
So your agent knows he appeals it. Whatever. He or she. Because there's a lot of women agents out these days. Okay.
Isaac Cooch
Yeah.
Allison Kuch
So once they appeal it. When I'm, I'm picturing the appeal process as like you're sitting in zoom and there's a court.
Isaac Cooch
No, it's not how it is.
Allison Kuch
Okay?
Isaac Cooch
It's a phone. It's like a three way phone call. Oh, and there's just a dude there. And like, here's what's crazy with you.
Allison Kuch
Brian and Roger Goodell.
Isaac Cooch
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Allison Kuch
Roger Goodell is the commissioner for the NFL.
Isaac Cooch
And you literally get on the call and it's so dumb because you have to be like, yeah, like, I know this was wrong. Like, I really, like, apologize. I don't intend on doing this again like you, it's like a schmoozing game.
Allison Kuch
So sorry. I'm so sorry. Please. 7K.
Isaac Cooch
It's like a schmooze and it's like, this is dumb. How about you just don't find me.
Allison Kuch
Okay, wait, let's take out the it's dumb, don't find me part.
Isaac Cooch
No, I've gotten fine for.
Allison Kuch
I know, but the, but the. Because it sounds like you're saying like it's dumb because you have to schmooze.
Isaac Cooch
Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. No, but you, you get on the call and you, you know, play nice guy and I'm super sorry, I shouldn't have done this. And then hopefully your fine gets reduced.
Allison Kuch
Wow. So do you think it, it varies on the person who you're talking to?
Isaac Cooch
Absolutely.
Allison Kuch
As if, like they want interesting.
Isaac Cooch
I mean, if you get on the call and you're like, this is dumb. I shouldn't have got this fine. They're gonna be like, okay, but the.
Allison Kuch
Only good thing about fines is that it's. The money is not just put in the pockets of the NFL of the wives. Or it should be. It shouldn't be going anywhere. Except.
Isaac Cooch
Except my wife feels like a back door just going straight to the wives.
Allison Kuch
That's funny. 50 of all fines go to the Player's Assistant Trust, which is an NFLPA run program to help retired players acclimate to Life.
Isaac Cooch
It's only 50%.
Allison Kuch
And provide supplemental health care benefits such as cognitive evaluations.
Isaac Cooch
Where's the other 50% going?
Allison Kuch
Is earmarked for charitable organizations jointly determined by NFL and IFLPA.
Isaac Cooch
I can rock with it, but here's the issue with it. This is conspiracy. That $10,000 was taken out of my check and it is not tax deductible. The NFL is taking that money and it's getting donated. Like somebody's reaping the benefits of tax deductions and you and the players don't because it's donated money. Does that make sense?
Allison Kuch
But. But you're not getting taxed on that $10,000. It's like, you never know.
Isaac Cooch
They take it out after taxes.
Allison Kuch
Wait, really?
Isaac Cooch
Yeah. So I get my check. It shows the fica. It shows like, my health care, everything that I've paid. And then it says minus ten grand.
Allison Kuch
Well, yeah, but.
Isaac Cooch
And it should be tax deductible.
Allison Kuch
I kind of disagree, Isaac, because what I'm going to say is that like, if I make money in my job, okay, and I like, let's say I do something illegal because technically a fine, you're doing something legal for the NFL. And like, I run a red light while I'm working, my job is going to pay me and obviously have to pay taxes on that. And then when I pay somebody else, like, you know what I'm saying? Once, once I give them the money for me fucking up, they can do whatever they want with that.
Isaac Cooch
Yeah. I think the issue is, it's like we're all, we're all employees of the NFL. Even the people that are work for the NFL. They're still employees of the NFL. And it's like, it's like robbing Peter to pay Paul. Like, can we just agree that this needs to be a tax write off? We don't need to go off on a tangent with this.
Allison Kuch
Well, we won't then. If you guys know anything about me, you would know fall is my favorite time of the year, especially because of fall fashion. And my favorite place to shop fall fashion is Macy's. I'm currently in the process of trying to revamp my entire closet and I'm trying to do it seasonally because I don't have the biggest closet in our new house. So the pieces I get need to matter. And Macy's has been my favorite place to shop to get some of these pieces, especially for fall. Macy's selection of Boots, Sweaters, coats It's unmatched. I truly love the fall season and I feel like a lot has to do with the cozy vibe of it all. Like a sweater with a cup of hot coffee even though I'm in California. But I'm a sucker for a cute sweater boot outfit combo. I recently took a trip to Macy's with Isaac and they have so many brands and options to choose from. I got this cashmere sweater from there the other day and I've been living in it ever since. Also, this is a reminder to myself to not let Isaac put that in the dryer because I don't want it to get ruined. But be sure to to not miss out on getting your winter essentials. Whether that be boots, coats, sweaters, gloves, scarves. Like literally, Macy's has it all. So be sure to shop online at macy's.com or swing by in store to get all of your fall essentials. That's macy's.comm a c y s.com or swing by in store you guys. I'm not the best cook, but I do love cooking, especially for my daughter Scotty. I've been cooking up meals every day and honestly I've fallen in love with my caraway cook set and yes, they look very aesthetic sitting on my stovetop. I got the navy color and it's Chef's kiss pun yes intended. But I also love the fact that they are non toxic cookware free of dangerous chemicals. I feel like I'm always looking at what's actually in the products I'm using, especially now that I'm a mom. And as a mom and also somebody who eats off the away cookware, it gives me peace of mind. When I was picking out my pans it was kind of a difficult process because I like every colorway that they have. But I decided on the navy color and I think it's going to look so good in my new renovated kitchen, which I can't wait for. Speaking of getting the caraway cook set, I also feel like with holidays coming up, it is such a good gift and it's also thoughtful. I'm tired of giving people gifts that they're not really going to use and everybody seems to cook because food is necessary. So I think it's such a good gift. But beyond the fact that they look good, they also cook food really well. My husband cooks all the meals in this family and he's loving them, saying that they're so easy to clean, no food sticks to the bottom and they're just overall pretty incredible. So ditch the chemicals with Caraway Caraway Homes Non toxic kitchenware features a chemical free ceramic coating so food can be prepared with peace of mind and the no hard to pronounce chemicals. Caraway Non Toxic Cookware made Modern Most find teams and players last year oh, let me guess.
Isaac Cooch
Most fine. I feel like the Raiders were up.
Allison Kuch
Who is the most fine team last year?
Isaac Cooch
Oh, Chargers.
Allison Kuch
No, who? Through week 13 of the football season, the Indianapolis Colts were fined 3.9 million.
Isaac Cooch
That's so crazy.
Allison Kuch
$3.9 million in fines.
Isaac Cooch
Minimum. Minimum salary for a rookie is $700,000. So that's like literally like five guys jobs.
Allison Kuch
I want to see the distribution of that because that's since. How. How does it add up to. To 3.9 million?
Isaac Cooch
They might have had some big mass. They might have had some like huge fines. I don't even know. That's crazy. That's a crazy stat.
Allison Kuch
Guess who the lowest fine team was.
Isaac Cooch
The New England Patriots.
Allison Kuch
Nope. The Los Angeles Rams.
Isaac Cooch
Really?
Allison Kuch
Guess how much?
Isaac Cooch
Probably 600,000.
Allison Kuch
48K.
Isaac Cooch
Really? Dang. They've got good guys appealing. That's what it is. They've got a good system for appeals for sure. The Colts are getting torched also. They might have different uniform people looking at their uniforms. Who knows? 40, 48K is crazy.
Allison Kuch
That's wild. So the most find positions.
Isaac Cooch
Oh wow. Oh, it's got to be safety or corner or probably safety tackles on both.
Allison Kuch
Sides of the ball.
Isaac Cooch
Really?
Allison Kuch
I mean think of how many. Why? I don't know. They're just no offense. They're just big boys. So maybe they just don't have their shirts tucked in. A lot of head to head.
Isaac Cooch
I wouldn't have imagined. I would have thought it would have been safety coming downhill. Like I think Derwin James just straight.
Allison Kuch
Spearing somebody like and defensive tackles and left tackles Both got $3.9 million in fines.
Isaac Cooch
Oh my God. Oh my God.
Allison Kuch
The Vines Go up every year.
Isaac Cooch
That's crazy. I would not have expected that. I don't even understand why. Maybe like hands to the face type penalty. I don't know. That doesn't make sense.
Allison Kuch
Is that a pen? Well, I guess.
Isaac Cooch
Well, no, if you. It's. If it's egregious and you're doing it purposely or you're doing it all like.
Allison Kuch
Poking their eye out.
Isaac Cooch
Yeah.
Allison Kuch
Isn't that crazy? People do that in, in a football game. It's like a tactic.
Isaac Cooch
Nobody, nobody does that.
Allison Kuch
No one's grabbing onto your balls and like.
Isaac Cooch
No. And, and caressing them.
Allison Kuch
Didn't you say somebody who's done that before?
Isaac Cooch
I feel like I got a fumble one time and it happened, but I thought it was in college. I don't know if I. I can't remember if that happened. In pros.
Allison Kuch
Each fine has a dollar amount associated with the first offense and second offense. But then they end up getting reduced if the fine is more than 10% of a player's weekly earnings. Okay, so then that didn't happen for you.
Isaac Cooch
Yeah, I mean that's. That's not realistic.
Allison Kuch
Well, no, it says the minimum season long salary in 2024 is $795,000.
Isaac Cooch
Right.
Allison Kuch
So that's about 47, 000 per week.
Isaac Cooch
Right.
Allison Kuch
So they can't get fined more than 40k or 47k.
Isaac Cooch
Oh, so that rule is saying they can't 10% of their yearly salary, not their weekly salary.
Allison Kuch
Yearly.
Isaac Cooch
Okay. Yeah.
Allison Kuch
Which is still kind of crazy if you're getting fined in preseason if you don't make the team, they would probably.
Isaac Cooch
The fine gets. Yeah, it's different. That's why I didn't be like this.
Allison Kuch
Man needs the money.
Isaac Cooch
That's why I had to pay $80 with the Browns because I got.
Allison Kuch
Because you got cut.
Isaac Cooch
Because I got. I got sandho.
Allison Kuch
Wow, that's kind. I got sent home.
Isaac Cooch
Yeah. Put in time out.
Allison Kuch
Okay, so we're gonna go over some of the violations you can get fined for in football. The first one, and I feel like.
Isaac Cooch
You have a price tag on it.
Allison Kuch
Oh yeah.
Isaac Cooch
We can't guess the price tag. I don't want it to be drawn out.
Allison Kuch
Yeah, yeah. But the first one in. The most popular fine in the NFL is uniform misconduct.
Isaac Cooch
That's going to be anywhere from 3 to 7K.
Allison Kuch
Yeah. I mean we all know Isaac got fined $7,000 for socks.
Isaac Cooch
That's crazy. I wish I could pull up the picture. It's wild that I got fined for seven grand because my knees were Showing. That's crazy.
Allison Kuch
We got some ashy knees. Ashy?
Isaac Cooch
They said that boy needs lotion.
Allison Kuch
They're like, we gotta find. They find, like, we could be finding him 3K. But like, that man needs some Sol de Janeiro bum bum cream.
Isaac Cooch
That boy's down bad.
Allison Kuch
So the. It says the first offense is 5,000 and the second offense almost triples to almost 7,000. $17,000.
Isaac Cooch
Out of control.
Allison Kuch
Out of control. That's insane. So, like, they can easily rack up 5k 10k fines for having their socks, their undershirts the wrong color, not having your jersey tucked in properly.
Isaac Cooch
I've had all that.
Allison Kuch
Really?
Isaac Cooch
I've had the proper.
Allison Kuch
Wearing unapproved cleats or gloves. Wearing the wrong wristband.
Isaac Cooch
If you're wearing a wristband, it's kind of embarrassing. You know, I have, I have. Well, no, he doesn't wear wristbands, but he gets his wrist tape. You know, Bats gets his wrist tape for every game.
Allison Kuch
Wait, why? He's a kicker.
Isaac Cooch
Exactly. It's the weirdest thing.
Allison Kuch
No, I think that's cute.
Isaac Cooch
It's a. But it's very unnecessary. Like, he quite literally will never use his wrist.
Allison Kuch
Maybe he's scared that if he kicks the ball or like it gets blocked and they go, like he's gonna chase after them.
Isaac Cooch
Like if it got caught and he had to go.
Allison Kuch
Yeah, I don't know, but that's super interesting.
Isaac Cooch
Yeah.
Allison Kuch
All of the uniform, your uniform has to look a certain way.
Isaac Cooch
I'm telling you there. There's like a very strict uniform policy.
Allison Kuch
And they provide everything for your. Your uniform.
Isaac Cooch
No, some things you have to bring from home. Wait, no, obviously they provide everything.
Allison Kuch
Picturing the NFL giving you like a classroom list, like first grade, all crayons, markers, like number two pencil. So they give you everything.
Isaac Cooch
This is how free for all it is. You go to a game, you could walk into the game with just your street clothes show up. Everything's already in your locker, Everything's clean, ready to go. Oh, shoot. I. Well, you have to pack a bag. So, like when you're in a locker room, your. Your practice locker room on Friday, you pack a bag that's going to be in the stadium. So I might put whatever. Oh, shoot. Get to the stadium. I forgot my tennis shoes. Go back there. Hey, can I get a pair of tennis shoes? They pull out a brand new pair of tennis shoes. Hoka's here. You go outside, you're like, oh, dang. Like, it's kind of chilly out here. I really need a hoodie. Forgot to Pack a hoodie. Hey, guys, can I have a hoodie? Give you a hoodie. Like, anything you need, they give you. There's no, like, so it's people's job. They're running around the whole day.
Allison Kuch
Anything you need just for uniforms.
Isaac Cooch
Oh, my God. This. I just put this hoodie on it just like, if I don't feel good in this hoodie, can I get another one? Bring out another one. I really want, like, a sweat jacket. Just some. The lightest hoodie you have. It's. It's a free for all on game day.
Allison Kuch
I'm not gonna lie. If I got that treatment, I don't know how I would live normal life.
Isaac Cooch
It's so crazy.
Allison Kuch
Like, I, I. I would be like, the. I don't get this. All this treatment all the time.
Isaac Cooch
Well, it's also funny because that's how.
Allison Kuch
I, that's how I should be treated during pregnancy. Isaac, you were.
Isaac Cooch
You were treated like that.
Allison Kuch
No, I wasn't.
Isaac Cooch
You're just postpartum and, like, you forgot how nice it was to be pregnant. No, Anything. Like, you. And you literally could go, like, warm up sweating something. It's gross. And just be like, I really want another one. Oh, my God, my cleats don't feel right. Can you guys. Can I get a new pair of cleats? I can't bend down and tie my shoe. Can you guys tie my shoe properly? One year I had.
Allison Kuch
Wait, shut one.
Isaac Cooch
I swear to God. One year chat. I had the same guy just tie my shoes. Because I was like, you're really good at tying shoes. And then the jerseys are tight, so you need help putting them on. So you. You have two to three guys that help you put your uniform on. Wait, literally, there's.
Allison Kuch
Every player has two or three guys helping them.
Isaac Cooch
If, if you're like. Because they'll be like, D line 10 minutes. So you're like, shoot, I got to put my jersey on. And there will literally be a line of guys like that need help putting their jersey on. It's not, like, intense, but, yeah, it would be a little line of guys like, like. And, like, you go to the same guy to help you put your jersey on every week. Because that's. That's tradition.
Allison Kuch
It's tradition.
Isaac Cooch
No, but it's. It's.
Allison Kuch
Can you help me put my doorsie on?
Isaac Cooch
It's serious.
Allison Kuch
Well, it's. The jerseys are actually, like, they're tight. I've seen the jerseys. I. It looks like it'd be a snug on me.
Isaac Cooch
I don't I hate the tight jerseys.
Allison Kuch
Really?
Isaac Cooch
Yeah, people love them. I'm like, I don't. I want to feel. I want to play how I practice. I don't practice in a tight jersey. Yeah.
Allison Kuch
Interesting. Yeah. I feel like the whole uniform, like, scenario, that's all really interesting. But wait, the. You bring your own cleats.
Isaac Cooch
You bring them from your locker, but if you don't have cleats, they have whatever cleats you need. I mean, there's a whole. I mean, it's essentially a shoe store.
Allison Kuch
So when you're getting a fine. Sorry, but, like, that's your. Like, that's your fault technically.
Isaac Cooch
If.
Allison Kuch
And I. You told me this, that, like, when you go off to the sidelines, someone be like, oh, hey, like, your shirt's untucked.
Isaac Cooch
Sometimes. Sometimes. I mean, sometimes they miss it and then they see it afterwards. But. But at. So here's what happens. You go out for warm ups. The uniform police are sitting there checking every single person.
Allison Kuch
Are they actually called the uniform police?
Isaac Cooch
Yeah. Then they give.
Allison Kuch
But they're not nuns.
Isaac Cooch
They're not nuns. They give a little card. It's about the size of a Pokemon card. They give a card to the head equipment guy, he gets it and it's got everybody's number, and they go like, 98. Your socks are too low. 99. Shirts untucked. And they go through and they tell you, like, what's wrong. If you don't improve it from that point until halftime, you will get fined. And then they do that same walk through at halftime and tell guys now they'll come up to you during the game and be like, hey, just letting you know. They just told me that that second series, your uniform, like, it was.
Allison Kuch
Wouldn't that stress you out?
Isaac Cooch
It's. You're so used to it. You just tuck your shirt in and move on. Or you'll be like, oh, my God. You'll be like, bro, what are we talking about?
Allison Kuch
I do not take feedback.
Isaac Cooch
I'm the guy who will be arguing.
Allison Kuch
I'm over here trying to please everybody, which is really hard to do when you have a lot of people with different opinions. I would. I would probably. If I. If somebody came up to me and they're like, hey, your shirt's on top. Like, I just got. Like, they noticed you. I'd be like, I will tell them. I'm really. Oh, my God. I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry.
Isaac Cooch
Like, it's smooth. No, you just go all Right. But appreciate it.
Allison Kuch
Wow. Interesting.
Isaac Cooch
That's someone's game day job, though. Like on our team. To tell us though. It's kind of juicy.
Allison Kuch
The amount of jobs. I feel like that's its own episode. How many jobs there are in one NFL team.
Isaac Cooch
Yeah.
Allison Kuch
Personal messages on clothing or equipment. That's also uniform misconduct.
Isaac Cooch
Big issue.
Allison Kuch
Really?
Isaac Cooch
No, I'm just saying because of the Maga thing. Oh. Because he got fined 11 grand for that.
Allison Kuch
So Joey Bosa got fine.
Isaac Cooch
That was Bosa.
Allison Kuch
But yeah. Sorry. So Nick Bosa got fined for a personal message on his clothing.
Isaac Cooch
Yeah.
Allison Kuch
Interesting. So it says first offense. $11,255. That's how much Nick Bosa paid. And if he did it again, $16,000. 800. Wait, $16,883.
Isaac Cooch
Yeah, it's crazy.
Allison Kuch
Which, I mean, he can.
Isaac Cooch
He can afford it. Yeah, he'll be okay.
Allison Kuch
Another part of uniform misconduct. Visor tin.
Isaac Cooch
Yeah. So this is funny, I was gonna.
Allison Kuch
Say, but some guys can get, like, a prescription.
Isaac Cooch
Yeah, it's. It's not as easy as people say. I probably could have got one, but I just didn't want to play with one.
Allison Kuch
Isaac has a disorder.
Isaac Cooch
So when you go to games or you're watching on TV and guys are warming up, like, you go out for warm ups, you'll see 20 guys with 10 advisors on guys. This is so pre Madonna. Guys will. Because they know they get pictures in warm ups.
Allison Kuch
Oh, I would do that.
Isaac Cooch
They get their 10 advisor put on. And Ali, you have these equipment managers stressed out because they have like five minutes to take 20 visors off. They have to unscrew the front of the face mask, take the visor off, screw it back on like it's a task.
Allison Kuch
Okay, I understand.
Isaac Cooch
They're running around the locker room taking visors off. That's what they're spending their time doing. Because guys want to pictures.
Allison Kuch
You don't have two helmets for every guy.
Isaac Cooch
No. You have custom. They're customly molded.
Allison Kuch
Don't say prima donna, though. Are we gonna act like I didn't wear Stilett games just for photos? Just to sit in the plastic ass seats and eat a hot dog.
Isaac Cooch
Yeah, I guess.
Allison Kuch
And watch. And watch you out there.
Isaac Cooch
Yeah, but you don't picture grown men, like, about to go play a football game like a chad. Did you make sure to put my visor on? Okay, but like, coming from somebody who.
Allison Kuch
Had people tie their shoe.
Isaac Cooch
Yeah, but that's for functional. That's like, for functionality. Isaac for Instagram is so guys will have Crazy. So then all those guys will be on a list, by the way. But it doesn't matter because they're like, I'm taking it off.
Allison Kuch
Well, anyways, another fine. In the NFL, another category is sportsmanship. You get along with everybody in the NFL. Have you ever gotten in a fight?
Isaac Cooch
No, not really.
Allison Kuch
You don't give off, like the fighting kind of guy.
Isaac Cooch
Guys don't listen. Do you have the vibe that I have? Guys don't mess with me. They know who to mess with and not to mess with.
Allison Kuch
They see your tick tocks, they're like, I'm.
Isaac Cooch
Yeah, okay, okay, Mr. Tick Tock. Okay, Mr. Tick. So they'll be like, nah, bro. For real though. Like, my wife loves your wife.
Allison Kuch
My wife wants to hang out with your wife. Let's hang out with our wife.
Isaac Cooch
Nah, bro. Like, it's really cool what you're doing, bro. For real. Like, good luck with that. I'll be like, all right. Appreciate it. Appreciate it, bro.
Allison Kuch
I feel like you're thinking of a specific conversation.
Isaac Cooch
No, no, I'm, I, I'm very sportsmanlike and people are sportsman. Like guys, aren't it? Some guys talk. It's not crazy though. People think the NFL is just like, you know, you could be teammates with somebody the next week or you were before.

That's unsportsmanlike conduct.
Isaac Cooch
Apparently not always.
Allison Kuch
I mean, taunting. So. Okay, so unsportsmanlike conduct. First offense.
Isaac Cooch
Do you know how much it is unsportsmanlike conduct? First offense is probably 21,014 K. Okay. Second offense, above 30.
Allison Kuch
19 K. What? But. Oh, wow. In week three of this year, Giants receiver Malik Neighbors was fined 28K for two different violent gestures, specifically mimicking the act of shooting a. That's wild though. Why would you do that?
Isaac Cooch
I don't know why these guys are doing that.
Allison Kuch
That's weird. Yeah. Especially when, like, a lot of people like, like that's like a reason.
Isaac Cooch
Like, it feels like we should just stay away from gun violence in our. In our TD celebrations.
Allison Kuch
Yeah, I feel like that feels like very like that's a huge problem in America.
Isaac Cooch
Yeah.
Allison Kuch
Taunting or celebrating excessively. So while players are allowed some room to celebrate, we all see the funny videos online of, like, them. Like acting like they're on a roller coaster or doing the.
Isaac Cooch
What's your favorite one?
Allison Kuch
Probably the parent Trap handshake.
Isaac Cooch
Oh, my God. That was so lame to me.
Allison Kuch
No, you're such a hater.
Isaac Cooch
It was just.
Allison Kuch
You are such a hater.
Isaac Cooch
It was corny.
Allison Kuch
Well, there. There's a fine line between, like, harmless fun and unsportsmanlike conduct. Antonio Brown was fined $9,000 in 2015 for twerking in the ends.
Isaac Cooch
I know that clip. Oh, Antonio Brown.
Allison Kuch
Steelers linebacker Bud Dupree was hit with a $21,000 fine for using the Throat Slash Celebration. Shaquille Barrett was hit with a $10,000 fine for using a fort.
Isaac Cooch
Just go ahead. Shaq Barrett is his name. He said Shaquille O'Neal Barrett, no Shack.
Allison Kuch
Barrett was hit with a ten thousand dollar fine in 2019 for using the Fortnite Celebration.
Isaac Cooch
See, that's. That's ridiculous.
Allison Kuch
Isaac, you. I remember specifically one year you got a sack and you shushed the whole crowd. I think that's unsportsmanlike.
Isaac Cooch
What'd they do? They stopped talking?
Allison Kuch
No, they did it.
Isaac Cooch
That was Seattle. 2018. Sacked Russell Wilson.
Allison Kuch
Anyways, so if you throw a football into the stands, that's another fine. See, I think that's kind of stupid.
Isaac Cooch
I think. I think it. It hypes up the game atmosphere if I'm in the stands. I like that part of the game being possible.
Allison Kuch
I know. That's what I'm saying.
Isaac Cooch
Baseball. Yeah, I think that. And we have so many footballs. Balls of all types, really, but football specifically on the sidelines so, like, what is it?
Allison Kuch
So if, if you got like a game winning sack or if you, I don't know, you picked up a fumbler or something and you came into the stands and gave him the ball, is that technically throwing it or do you have to throw it into the stands for it to be the fine?
Isaac Cooch
I have no clue. That's a good question.
Allison Kuch
I know the answer. You have to throw it.
Isaac Cooch
Really?
Allison Kuch
No, I actually don't know the answer.
Isaac Cooch
Oh, it's. It feels right. I mean, it feels like the NFL wouldn't be finding guys for handing a.
Allison Kuch
Ball to a little kid and the another one fighting.
Isaac Cooch
See, I'd have been fined so many times for fighting. Like I said, you walk in my face.
Allison Kuch
Isaac's never been fined for fighting. First offense. 40k should be.
Isaac Cooch
I mean, it should be. It.
Allison Kuch
Let's stop pushing. Sorry, Isaac. I'm about to find you right now.
Isaac Cooch
5.40K is. Well, we've seen, we've seen instances where guys get in fights and they'll throw. The issue is, like, guys will throw a punch and like, that's all they get in. Like, they just get in one punch and it's like, that's four. That's a $40,000 punch.
Allison Kuch
But doesn't that hurt your hand when you're hitting somebody in the helmet? I just, like, your, your hand is not hurting them. They're wearing a football helmet.
Isaac Cooch
I, I just feel like I'm so logical in those moments where I'm like, I'm not gonna, I'm not gonna spend 40, 000 to hit you in the helmet.
Allison Kuch
I mean, you could just wait until after the game and then do it.
Isaac Cooch
I think technically you could still get fined.
Allison Kuch
I think you could probably go to jail then.
Isaac Cooch
Yeah, that would be assault.
Allison Kuch
So it's not.
Isaac Cooch
Oh, that's, you know. Well, this is super. This is, this is.
Allison Kuch
Is it, is it not assault if you're on the football field?
Isaac Cooch
It's super interesting because there is like a fine line. And if you think about a practice scenario where a guy gets in a fight, if they seriously injure somebody, like, you're technically at work. So it's like you're assaulting a call from hr. I mean, actually, though, it's kind of crazy to think about. I've never seen it happen. I've never seen an instance where that was possible. But you technically could sue somebody for assault because you're at work. You just assaulted me at work. Who cares if we're running around?
Allison Kuch
You've never seen violence like Around.
Isaac Cooch
I mean, I've seen guys get in fights. There's stuff I can't talk about.
Allison Kuch
Yeah. I'm just gonna be like, okay, fine. Also, another fine is if you leave the bench area during a fight.
Isaac Cooch
Yeah. They're big on that, like, because they don't want a fight to happen. And the whole team goes. They will literally watch a film. $11,000, find everybody.
Allison Kuch
In 2017, the Raiders were. The Raiders players were fined over $250,000.
Isaac Cooch
They'll find everybody.
Allison Kuch
Wow.
Isaac Cooch
They'll count every number.
Allison Kuch
That's kind. Really.
Isaac Cooch
I wouldn't go. I promise you. The whole team could go. And I would sit there. I wouldn't. I would go. I issue is, like, I would go and be like, pulling guys off, and I'd be like, I'm paying 11 grand for this. Like, come on, bro, get us chill. Like, sit down.
Allison Kuch
That's funny. There's a player safety rules and flake flagrant personal fouls. So that's like striking, kicking, kneeing, horse collar, tackle, hip drop tackle, face mask, leg whip, late hit.
Isaac Cooch
These are all. These have to be egregious. These have to be, like, super intense.
Allison Kuch
What's horse collar?
Isaac Cooch
You grab somebody by the back of their shoulder pads, like, on their neck. Yeah. But you can do it in the pocket. It's too detailed for this podcast, but, yeah.
Allison Kuch
Roughing the passer, that's so interesting. So that's just altering the game.
Isaac Cooch
If you even give a quarterback a handshake within. Within the whistles, you can get a fine. It's super strict. They don't want you touching a quarterback at all. Like, unless it's a sack, you're not allowed to touch them.
Allison Kuch
That's how I feel when I'm on my period.
Isaac Cooch
I'm joking. Oh, man. Yeah, you can. You can tell term.
Allison Kuch
You also have off the field violations, domestic violence, drug policy violations, missed workout, missed media obligations, gambling.
Isaac Cooch
Yeah, all those things. And we have meetings before, like, the gambling policy. We literally have to go watch videos. Like, if you like, it's like, hey, click play.
Allison Kuch
It's like health class of, like, watching.
Isaac Cooch
How there's hours of videos that we watch on gambling policy. I was actually in one of the videos, but I, like, didn't get resigned. So I was like. Like, people were sending me videos this year, like, in their meetings, like, recording me on the screen.
Allison Kuch
What were you doing on the screen?
Isaac Cooch
It was. I was talking about mental health, but I was just, like, in the video, like, yeah, like, mental health is super important. And I'm like, Bro, I'm not even in the league right now. Take me off the screen.
Allison Kuch
I mean, or write me a check. So this is, we know, a huge instance of an off the field violation. DeSean Watson, as we all know, was hit with a $5 million fine and a historic 11 game suspension for his off field misconduct.
Isaac Cooch
Yeah.
Allison Kuch
It's crazy though, because it doesn't really seem like the fines. Effective a player or if a team signs you.
Isaac Cooch
Yeah. I mean, his situation is tough to talk about.
Allison Kuch
Yeah. We don't have to talk about it.
Isaac Cooch
But I think what happens is teams are going to defer to the NFL. It's very much like a. A safety net for them.
Allison Kuch
We don't even have to get into it.
Isaac Cooch
Yeah.
Allison Kuch
Various reasons. Missing media obligations, like mandatory press conferences. Interview. It can cost a player up to $50,000.
Isaac Cooch
Yeah. Just show up.
Allison Kuch
Why? Why?
Isaac Cooch
It's in your contract. You have to do media.
Allison Kuch
Really?
Isaac Cooch
They ask you to do media. They have to. You have to do media.
Allison Kuch
And that's just like going up on the stand and being like, it's doing this.
Isaac Cooch
Like, hi, like, you asked me, like, hey, how was. Like, how was. How did you perform this week with Ali? And I'd be like, I really am disappointed in my performance with the water bottle. Like, it could have been way better. We need, we need more from the team.
Allison Kuch
Yeah. Yeah, you do. Getting arrested, even if the charges are ultimately dropped, you can still result in fines and suspensions from the league. So league takes a zero tolerance approach.
Isaac Cooch
The player, they're not playing games. Every team is different when it comes to getting rid of guys with fines or off the field violations. I've been on teams where they've given guys chance after chance after chance. It just depends.
Allison Kuch
Interesting.
Isaac Cooch
Some teams are zero tolerance. Some teams will tolerate it.
Allison Kuch
And conduct detrimental to the league, including substance abuse, abuse and gambling.
Isaac Cooch
Did.
Allison Kuch
Do the teams act differently? Like, is it team. Does it vary team to team on like what the team is? Like, how they're like talking to the team about certain things? Because I feel like.
Isaac Cooch
No, it's. They bring people in.
Allison Kuch
I was gonna say that the Raiders are in Las Vegas.
Isaac Cooch
They. So, yeah, they bring people in. Everybody.
Allison Kuch
In the nfc, you're allowed to gamble. Like, not on football. You're allowed to go the casino.
Isaac Cooch
Yeah.
Allison Kuch
You can gamble, but you can't gamble on football games.
Isaac Cooch
Yeah, it's. And you don't want.
Allison Kuch
You can play fantasy football up to 250.
Isaac Cooch
Yeah.
Allison Kuch
Which is kind of stupid.
Isaac Cooch
You notice how Ally asked me all these questions. You like, you like, had all the info. You're like, yeah, you can. Okay, go ahead.
Allison Kuch
I'm just double checking.
Isaac Cooch
No, but they. Every team in the NFL gets the exact same presentation and they'll add stuff like, hey, we're in Vegas, so whatever. But it's all the same.
Allison Kuch
What do the players think about NFL fines?
Isaac Cooch
I mean, they think they're ridiculous. Some guys don't think there should be fines.
Allison Kuch
Really? Yeah, but I mean, you think of it as a normal job. The NFL is not normal. When your coworkers making $10 million this.
Isaac Cooch
Year, it's just dumb. It's.
Allison Kuch
They preach companies, like, uphold a certain, like, code of conduct. Why. Why would the NFL. The most televised thing in the world, like, literally, it. The NFL had the top televised programs. It was like, it was a crazy amount of, like, the top programs. But why would they not be able to uphold, like, a certain image?
Isaac Cooch
The issue that guys have is you're preaching guys like, hey, don't go, bro. Hey, save your money. Hey, do this. And guys are getting fined for having their socks too low. Unintentionally. Right. Like, there's.
Allison Kuch
Some guys are intentionally not wearing socks.
Isaac Cooch
Trent Brown, for sure. The boy put his ankle socks or he pulled out his ankle socks warm. However, a lot of guys, it's unintentional. And you're, like, charging me, like, you're charging me 10k in preseason when I was in my second year in the NFL. Like, that was objectively a waste of money for me.
Allison Kuch
But you didn't pay 10k?
Isaac Cooch
No, I did pay. Oh, yeah, it got reduced from 30k. So I don't know. I think they can be useful. But there's. There's a fine line where it's just like, nah, you're, like, forcing guys to spend money they don't need to.
Allison Kuch
Yeah, I feel like that rule is not going to change, though.
Isaac Cooch
It's not.
Allison Kuch
The NFLPA thinks the fine system is flawed and inconsistent, for sure. Well, it sounds like if you get subjective, It's. It sounds like if you get fined $7,000 for some socks, somebody else could get fined $3,000.
Isaac Cooch
No, no, the number is not subjective. It's. It's. It's me doing something in a game and going, dang, I hope I don't get fined for that. And then not getting fined for it and then somebody else doing that and saying, dang, I hope I don't get fined for that. And then they do get fined for it.
Allison Kuch
Yeah, that's really interesting. What are some fines we should have in real Life. Besides you not filling in my water bottle.
Isaac Cooch
Good question. Probably just general attitude. Fines.
Allison Kuch
Oh, fine.
Isaac Cooch
Oh, fine. You're on your third offense.
Allison Kuch
Myself, I feel like some other fines. Not putting the toilet seat down. Fine.
Isaac Cooch
I think a fine should be if I cook and you don't clean. That's a fine.
Allison Kuch
I'm acts of service, Isaac.
Isaac Cooch
So I should double up Fine.
Allison Kuch
No. Every time something that actually matters, like forgetting to say I love you before leaving for work.
Isaac Cooch
Okay, that's fineable.
Allison Kuch
Yeah, I. Like, I deserve a Gucci bag. Can you imagine? Ooh, like, fine. Being rude to a waiter.
Isaac Cooch
Fine. Oh, you're talking about more, like life stuff. Not bringing your shopping cart back. That's like that quadruple fine.
Allison Kuch
Unless you have a baby.
Isaac Cooch
Another. I'm, like, kind of a hater. I. You're right. I do have, like, a lot of fines in my mind that I was ready to rifle off. I let you cross in a crosswalk and I'm in a car, and you don't wave. Fine.
Allison Kuch
Isaac hates opening the door for people, too, and they don't react to him.
Isaac Cooch
Fine.
Allison Kuch
If Isaac says hi to you and you don't say hi back, Fine.
Isaac Cooch
If I'm at the gym and I go to use weight, like, some type of equipment and there's already weight on it that somebody didn't take off. Fine.
Allison Kuch
Isaac sounds sassy, huh?
Isaac Cooch
Clean. Clean up. Fine. I can just keep going. I really could just keep going, but I'm not. Yeah, that's a fine.
Allison Kuch
Isaac does this really toxic thing where he'll get out of the shower and not dry off and immediately put on his clothes and the entire bathroom is soaking wet, and then he just gets into bed and just, like, never dries off.
Isaac Cooch
Okay, you guys can picture that. Picture that in your head, that process, and let me know if you think that actually happens.
Allison Kuch
You don't use a howl.
Isaac Cooch
Picture me. Six, five, two, seven. He fully soaked. Get out the shower, you get water everywhere. And get directly in the bed. Soaking wet. That's how she described.
Allison Kuch
It's a sign you put on your shirt when your back is still wet.
Isaac Cooch
That's. I'm guilty.
Allison Kuch
That's a fine candidate.
Isaac Cooch
I'm guilty of that. A couple water droplets never hurt nobody.
Allison Kuch
Anyways. Okay, well, that concludes it for today's episode. I hope you guys learned something new. I feel like this is the part of the NFL that I. That I think is fun. And it's always, like, interesting to hear you guys go and talk about some of these things in. In your real life to like your boyfriend or your dad or whoever you're watching football with and then being like, wait, no, that's not true. And you'd be like, I can fact check you right now.
Isaac Cooch
Yep.
Allison Kuch
Side note, I do want to make a small little announcement that we will no longer be doing the huddle.
Isaac Cooch
Oh y. Yeah.
Allison Kuch

Isaac Cooch
Can you just admit you wanted to spend less time with me? Like, just tell the people what it is. Ally was like, honestly, like, like, it's. This doesn't need to be a full time job, full time marriage. Like, I need my time.
Allison Kuch

Sunday Sports Club Podcast with Allison Kuch Episode: Explaining NFL Fines... WTF Release Date: November 10, 2024
In this insightful episode titled "Explaining NFL Fines... WTF," hosts Allison Kuch and Isaac Cooch delve deep into the intricate world of NFL fines. Drawing from Isaac's firsthand experiences as an NFL player, the duo unpacks the rationale, structure, and impact of fines within the league.
Allison begins by highlighting the primary purpose of NFL fines: maintaining a consistent and professional image for the league. She states, “I feel like a huge reason NFL teams and the NFL organization have fines is to uphold this certain image” (06:02). Isaac adds that fines help preserve the brand by ensuring uniformity across players’ appearances and behaviors: “If I have a league and I'm selling jerseys for these teams, I want everybody to look the same... Very strict rules” (06:06).
The hosts break down the NFL’s fine system into five main categories:
Allison emphasizes the breadth of these categories, noting that they range from on-field actions like helmet-to-helmet hits to off-field behaviors such as missing media obligations.
A significant portion of the discussion centers around uniform misconduct, arguably the most common fine category in the NFL. Allison humorously recounts Isaac’s experience: “I made a joke on Tick Tock not too long ago, and I said, ‘Oh, if my husband gets fined $7,000 for not having his socks high enough, I feel like I should get $7,000 to go and spend it.’” (01:45). Isaac confirms, “I got fined $7,000 because my knees were showing. That's crazy” (28:17).
They explore various uniform violations, including incorrect sock length, jersey untucked, unapproved cleats or gloves, and improper wristband usage. Isaac shares his frustration with the rigidity of uniform policies: “It’s a very strict uniform policy” (29:59), highlighting how even minor infractions can lead to substantial fines.
The hosts discuss notable fines handed to prominent players:
These examples illustrate the sometimes disproportionate nature of fines relative to the offenses and the players' salaries.
Isaac provides an insider’s view of the appeal process: “You have a hearing... you go through the appeal process. Brian, my agent appealed for me and organized the hearing” (16:47). He describes the process as a "schmoozing game," where players must formally apologize to potentially reduce their fines. Allison empathizes, pointing out the absurdity of being fined for something as minor as sock length, especially when compared to the players' high incomes.
A critical discussion emerges around the financial implications of these fines. Isaac recalls a preseason fine that was initially $30,000, reduced to $10,000 (08:48), which was significant given his salary at the time. Allison reflects on the unrealistic nature of such fines: “I understand that sounds ridiculous. Like, those are numbers. That is not normal” (09:34).
They debate whether the fine amounts are justified, especially when players are making millions annually. Isaac notes, “Some guys don't think there should be fines” (53:11), questioning the effectiveness and fairness of imposing hefty fines for relatively minor infractions.
The conversation touches on how different teams handle fines and misconduct. While some teams adopt a zero-tolerance policy, others offer multiple chances to players. Isaac shares, “Some teams are zero tolerance. Some teams will tolerate it” (51:56), indicating a lack of uniformity across the league.
Beyond uniform issues, Allison and Isaac explore off-field violations, including domestic violence, drug policy breaches, missed workouts, and gambling. Isaac mentions mandatory presentations and training sessions, likening them to “health class” (49:39), which players must adhere to under the threat of fines.
Throughout the episode, Allison injects humor and personal anecdotes to highlight the absurdities in the NFL’s fine system. For instance, she jokes about sending fines to Isaac for everyday household mishaps, such as not filling up her water bottle or leaving the bathroom wet after a shower. Isaac reciprocates with playful fines for Allison’s forgetfulness and domestic oversights, adding a relatable and lighthearted touch to the discussion.
Wrapping up, Allison reflects on the complexities and frustrations surrounding NFL fines. She acknowledges the importance of maintaining league standards but questions the balance between enforcement and fairness. Isaac concurs, suggesting that while fines serve a purpose, their execution often feels arbitrary and punitive, especially for lower-level infractions that disproportionately impact players financially.
